Classical Approach And Human Relations Approach
When looking at both the Classical Approach and the Human Relations Approach in a comparative sense, it is easy to clearly point out the vast
differences between the two methodologies given that many of the core principles and beliefs of each organisational model are polar opposites of
eachother. However in saying that, both approaches consider themselves to be the "One best approach", which I believe to be a common flaw amongst
the two.
As an employee of two companies (past and present) , I have to a certain degree experienced both organisational models. I myself consider the human
relations approach to be superior to that of the classical approach because of my personal inclination towards intrinsic motivations as well as work

Although it is not the official slogan of the company, "People are our business", is something the organisation very much takes to heart but for a
different reason to that of Company A. Company B's business is built on human skill, imagination and innovation and for that reason they have had to
adopt an approach which harnesses and facilitates that.
Although a clear hierarchy is in place, Company B promotes the illusion of a flat structure whereby managers and subordinates are considered equals
in terms of skills and ideas they can bring to the table. Communication is open and uninhibited, team work and informal groups/pairings are encouraged
and autonomy in terms of work and task design is the norm.
Company B ensures that even an employee coming in at the bottom earns above the market average for their position, has a healthy work life balance
and has the potential to move between roles that interest them.
The result of Company B taking on the Human Relations approach is that they have one of the highest employee satisfaction ratings, have won several
"Best places to work" awards, experience low turnover and have maintained a competitive and lucrative

Human Relations Theory and People Management
The minutiae of the human soul ... emerged as a new domain for management Nikolas Rose Conventional textbooks often set up a simple story about
organization theory which has a very appealing structure. In this story, there is a good guy and a bad guy. Who gets to play which role sometimes
shifts, but most often the bad guy is the scientific management approach and the good guy is human relations theory. This is a flawed story in my view,
and the way I will tell the story emphasizes the many connections and similarities between the two. But I suppose the fact that I am referring to 'the
two' implies that there must be some points of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was this which caused the increase in productivity and which demonstrated that the workers could not be regarded as mere parts in the organizational
machine. Thus was born the notion of the 'Hawthorne Effect', a staple part not just of organization theory but of social science as a whole. The other
study I want to mention was that conducted in the bank wiring room. Here, a small group of male workers were engaged in producing electrical
components. It emerged that the group set informal norms around production levels so that, rather than produce their maximum output (which would
earn them a bonus) the workers performed sub–optimally. These norms were enforced by a mixture of peer pressure (including physical sanction) and
an unofficial 'gang leader'. This suggested that workers were not solely motivated by economic

considerations and, moreover, that the 'informal side of the organization' was as important as, or maybe even more important than, the formal side (i.e.
the rules and official hierarchy). The discovery of the human factor, so the story goes, ushered in a new era in which workers' needs were
acknowledged and met. This claim fits not just the 'good guy, bad

Human Relation At Primark
In Primark, the human relation is based on employees' behaviour where they have their own needs but at the same time they have to comply with the
company's policy (Rodrigo, 2012). So it is the managers or supervisors' job to solve such problems and to ensure both employee and the management
able to comply in order to get a win–win situation as both gets what they want.
According to Rodrigo (2012), Primark's human relation faces some issues that affect the employee performance that can be evaluated from their
behaviour. Such behaviour can be caused by social factors such as customer service and security of the employee. The problem faced by the
employee in human relation is the customer service where worker are not allow respond in a bad way which will make the customer to behave

Managing Human Relations
Definition of Human Relations In our business world today, people who enter the workforce are discovering that interpersonal skills represent a very
important category of basic skills valued by employers.
These skills can also help us to cope with a wide range of work–life issues and conflicts that surface in our lives. Besides that, these skills will also
help us in areas such as interviewing to get a job in the future, improving our personal communication skills and building and thus maintaining
productive relationships with others in the workplace. These skills lead to a term which is known as human relations. Human relations is defined in its
broadest sense which covers all types of interactions among people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons is because organizations are advancing more to the age of
Information Technology (IT) and many things in the world nowadays are done by machines and requires a minimal amount of manpower. This
will lessen the job opportunities and even those who have worked in the particular workplace will be forced to resign or quit their respective jobs.
As an effect of this, many organizations will shortlist those workers who are performing at a full pace and achieving more goals than others to
remain in the company and then hand in a resignation letter for those workers who are underperforming or those who failed to achieve their goals. In
order to tackle this issue, many companies nowadays spend most of their time to train their employees so that they could be better workers and would
help the company to achieve more success in the future. When the company trains their employees, the employees are expected to understand on what
is required of them during the day at work. Employees are also required to continuously build relationships with their employers or managers of the
company and also learn to accept the other employees which are working together with them. In addition, another major reason on why human
relations is important in workplaces is because most companies are growing bigger and bigger compared to few years back. Many large companies

Reflection On Human Relations
I started this class as an assistant manager for a restaurant which comes with human relations in every aspect possible. After assesing my human
relations abilities and skills in the beginning of the course my three strengths were first, understanding how personality and perception affect
peoples behavior, human relations, and performance. It is very easy for me to understand how personality affect people in everything that they
do. I able to recognize that no one is the same. We all have different attitudes, different personal lives, different views and just because we are not
all the same doesn't mean we can't still be respectful to one another or put ourselves in someone else's shoes. I work with all different kinds of
people whom all have different kind of personalities that all bring different attitudes; but I have taken the time to understand them and get to
know them so if I see someone flustered I know if they need help or if I'm hovering. I can feel when things get edgy in the work place and
sometimes we get cranky in the middle of a busy day, but at the end of the day we are all still one big happy dysfunctional work family that come
with many different skills in order to deal with such a wide variety of personality. second, knowing to open conversations to get people to give me
career assistance. At first I used to hate to ask for assistance because I didn't like feeling as if a question I had was stupid or not. Now if I can't learn
something on my own I am more than happy to ask for assistance because not only does it show an interest in learning something new, but to ask a
certain individual and make them feel good that I thought of them to ask for assistance makes it a happy learning experience. Lastly understanding
how to resolve conflicts in a way that does not hurt relationships. whether the conflict is with me and someone else or between my employees I
always like to make sure that by the end of the situation we are all on the same page and that whatever situation is we can fix it. About a year ago I
had a situation with a coworker and I can't remember what she said, but I had been flustered about something so when she had said something to me
my response was a little rude and she kind of

Human Relations Model Of Management
Introduction
Since the turn of the twentieth century a number of management theories have been introduced into our society. These theories give insight into the
ways in which organisations are run. Different models of management are adopted depending on whether they rely on adaptability and innovation for
survival or whether their central aim is mass production to keep up with an ever–increasing demand. The two scenarios described would either adopt a
scientific management approach or a human relations model of management. The latter of which will be argued is the most effective method when an
organisation is dependent on innovation and creativity for its survival.
First it is helpful to address what is meant by the term 'management'. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The principles discussed in his work lay out the foundation for what he believed to be the optimum procedures for creating a highly productive and
efficient working environment. However, Taylor does not give a clear description of what is meant by the term 'scientific management'. Another writer
on the subject, Robert F Hoxie provides this definition:
"Scientific management is a system devised by industrial engineers for the purpose of serving the common interests of employers, workmen and
society at large through the elimination of avoidable wastes, the general improvement of the processes and methods of production, and the just and
scientific distribution of the product" (Hoxie, 1915:140).
As we can see from the definition given, the underlying theme of this model of management is industrial efficiency. Taylor's goal was to introduce a
model that would increase output and decrease waste.
One–way in which Taylor foreseen greater efficiency within the workplace was through the introduction of standardisation. Taylor (1911: 140)
explained in his book:
"science over rule of thumb; harmony, not discord; cooperation, not individualism; maximum output, in place of restricted output; and the development
of each man to his greatest efficiency and prosperity."
'cooperation not individualism' – from this statement alone we can see that there

What Is Climate Change In Relation To The Non-Human?
Climate fiction presents an interesting look at the climate change crisis in this era of the Anthropocene, especially when it illustrates a future where
climate change has caused significant changes to the earth and its inhabitants–specifically, its human inhabitants. From human evolution, to massive
geographical and ecological changes to the earth, climate fiction offers new perspectives on the potential effects of climate change. This essay will
present an idea about a new interpretation of the human in relation to the non–human through discussions on the "human exception" and how human
action affects not only the human species, but also every other species on earth. This essay will discuss the relationship between the human and

Dick's The Golden Man still presents an interesting dynamic with the human in relation to the non–human. In Dick's work, certain humans on earth
have evolved or mutated into humanoids with different non–human body parts or abilities, or abnormal humanoid characteristics; and these mutated
humans are being hunted down and eliminated (2015). It seems that the mutants are being hunted out of fear. It could be a fear that the idea of "human
exception" is being threatened by the mutants, which are viewed as an evolved species who can replace the human as the supreme being of the world.
The relationship between the human and non–human in this story mainly centers around humans being the top of the food chain, and the mutants
threatening that position. Even though the mutants are just mutated humans, they are categorized as creatures that threaten the survival of the human
race. This dynamic relationship illustrates the idea that even though we see ourselves as the most superior species of the world, we are still just
creatures who have the fear of becoming less powerful and intelligent than another

Do Somebodies Have The Power To Reshape Human Relations?
I hope to persuade you that the seemingly frivolous title question holds a secret with the power to reshape human relations. That a wish for fame
belies the existence of a crippling, undiagnosed malady, one rather like malnutrition, except that it's a disease of the self, not the body. Let me explain.
In a world that sees people as Somebodies and Nobodies, indignities abound. The primary source of man–made indignity is rankism. By analogy with
racism and sexism, rankism is defined as what somebodies do to nobodies. To be sure, not all somebodies abuse their power advantage. We've all
known somebodies who are devoted to serving others and wouldn't think of abusing their rank, just as prior to the civil rights and women's movements
there were whites who weren't racist and men who weren't sexist. On the other hand, most of us, even quasi–somebodies, have gotten a taste of the
indignities routinely visited upon those taken for nobodies. Rankism is now appearing on the radar screen. To do so, it needed a name, and at last it
has one. (If it's new to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two ways to deal with this. We can either follow the example of identity politics and de–legitimize rankism (as the civil rights and women's
movements have de–legitimized racism and sexism, and as the gay and disability movements are doing to overcome homophobia and ableism). Or,
we can attempt to acquire enough power to place ourselves squarely in the Somebody camp and so enjoy the relative security that status provides in a
society saturated with rankism. Everyone knows that it's imprudent to indignify a somebody. Who hasn't fantasized getting even with those who put us
down when we were vulnerable by shoving our Oscar, Emmy, MVP award, Pulitzer, Nobel, or simply our promotion, in their faces? Accrue enough
fame in life and you may even attain immortality and, in the words of the song, "live

Relation Between Architecture And The Environment.this...
An architect cannot build a consistent and stable structure without knowing the relationship between architecture and the environment. This topic
should be discussed on various angles. One of them is the aesthetical point of view, and the other is the human intervention in nature. The former is
essentially an artistic debate and a generic timeless topic since the beginning of architectural practices. The other one is a more contemporary issue. In
a broader aspect, this topic isn't only the architect 's interest, but also is an issue of engineers, scientists and even social scientist 's; and yet it can even
extend to global warming concerns. For this reason, let us firstly start and find out the most current dispute entitled as human intervention in nature.
Humans since their very first existence have been in a big struggle against the nature. However, they shape the nature to suffice their needs and in
essence adapt themselves accordingly into the conditions given by the Mother Nature. Over time nature has resisted to this human endeavor in every
possible way it can and tried not to surrender humans. No matter how strong this resistance is; humans somehow found a way to break it down with
their inborn skills that they managed to develop in time. This can be regarded as a seamless dance between these two enormous forces.
As the nature manifested itself as an obstacle where humans accomplished to push it away, this struggle shaped the way in which humans developed a
way of

The Relation Between Prostitution and Human Trafficking Essay
Although the world is made up of a variety of people, every person is entitled to basic rights. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
all human beings are born free and equal. These rights apply to everyone throughout the world regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or
age. However, although we are born with these rights, there have been many cases throughout the world where people's human rights have been
violated.

Ireland is familiar with prostitution. During the nineteenth century, in well–known populated cities, prostitution was apparent. According to William
Logan, a mission worker visiting Ireland claimed that the city of Cork had approximately eighty–five brothels, which contained about 356 prostitutes
collectively in the year of 1945. Logan also mentioned how young girls were sold by family members for money. In 1870 the Garda (Ireland's police
officials) instigated 11,864 women because they were assumed to be prostitutes. During the 1800's Magdalene asylums were also very common. In
Dublin specifically there were at least eleven workhouses, similar to the Magdalene asylums, attempting to transform prostitutes into proper ladies
(Luddy, 1997). The Dublin Metropolitan Police (DMP) was not proactive during this time either. The DMP were only involved in prostitution cases if
it disrupted the public. The lack of government control over this issue is one of the main influences that made human trafficking easily available in
Ireland. However, it is difficult to obtain research of trafficking. Before 2008, there have been no prosecuted cases on this issue in Ireland (Coghlan
and Wylie, 2011).

Human Relations And Police Public Relations
Human relations deals with everything that is being accomplished with other human beings with all kinds of relationships involved. But according to
dictionary.com, the definition is a study of group behavior for the purpose of improving interpersonal relationships, as among employees. An example
of human relations is something all people have been taught when they were younger and that is to treat people exactly how you want to be treated.
Which basically means to build a strong relationship whether it is good or if it is bad. So if police officers want respect from everyday society they
have to try and respect society as well. Public relations is defined as activities performed by police agencies designed to create a favorable image of
themselves. An example of police public relations is where a police department will have an even where the community can get involved and
experience the police life. Police community relations is the interaction or tension between the public and the department. An example of community
relations could be when police officers show up to high school basketball game and give support to the community that they are familiar with showing
that they are community oriented and care about what they do for their community.

Reflection On Human Relations
Evaluating my own reflection was indeed something hard to do until I started learning Human Relations. Without self–awareness and self–disclosure,
one can't see his own reflection. It's like a mirage in the dessert. We assume that something is there, but it won't be there. And others mostly won't
envision the views we perceive. We may even have different opinions and may end up in fights.
It is pretty easy to make friends in your peer group. But it is hard when it comes to true friendship and may be even harder when we reach to a level of
best friends forever. Isn't it amazing when one understands us as the same way and accepts how we are! That's where human relations start its race.
The ability to interact with other people is definitely a hard way to follow. Each of the persons has their own qualities, character and culture difference.
That's what it makes everyone unique. With mutual respect and self–disclosure we can enlighten and strengthen our human relations with our own
self–reflection.
When we get comfortable with someone of our same intellectual as well as emotional level, our barriers of complex just break down. And you allow
them to see as who you really are! That is when we go through the Johari window, all the windows such as open area/blind area/hidden area/unknown
are getting wide open not only to our friends but also to ourselves to explore what is hidden in ourselves.
Going through such an incident in my life when I was doing my undergraduate program in China, I was surrounded with a bunch of friends who were
with me most of the time. But none of them could see the inner me as I lacked self–disclosure because of insecurity that I felt. But at a moment when I
allowed myself to open in front of them, our relationship accomplished a new level from acquaintanceship to a powerful level where we motivated one
another. Moreover, our hidden area in the Johari window got larger and we all understood what all talents we had. That was an eye opener for me! I
became the deputy minister of the entertainment department in international student union and conducted many programs, including fresher's party as
well as graduation party. Consequently, I became a scholarship student and I explored my talents such

The Human Relations Movement?
The Human Relations Movement When you hear human relations movement what do you think of? Do you know what the human relations movement
is? To answer these questions first you need to understand which time period this movement came out of. Take a guess. To give you a hint this was the
time of booming industrialization. Most men, women, and even children spent from before dawn to after dusk working in factories for minimal pay. If
you guessed the 1920's–30's you would have been right.
The human relations movement came about because businesses wanted to understand how groups of people behaved in a workplace and how the
unions advocated for their workers. With poor working conditions, low pay, and no benefits, something needed to be done. Frederick Winslow Taylor's
idea of scientific management gives you the perspective of a company, his philosophy sought to increase productivity, and make the work easier by
scientifically studying work methods and establishing standards (A Brief History of Management, pg. 37). These are principles of early management.
By examining the efficiency of workers you were able to increase production and get the product or services on the market faster. Working with
employees in regards to steady hours, good pay, and getting benefits like days off and retirement were details that the unions dealt with. Here this paper
explores how the human relations movement expanded into management styles, which theories impacted the industry, and how management

In these case, unlike the theory of Warren Bennis, mechanical–base management ,which includes lots of bureaucratic structures, control and rigid
authority over employees and vertical communication lines, becomes necessary. The reason is, while making decisons during the change process,
consultation takes time since there is high possibility of different ideas and solutions to occur by each employee. Also, in order to consult employees,
using the methods like surveys, focus–groups interviews and hiring an expert in this area would cost to a company. Nevertheless, is it really make
sense to avoid employee consultation just because it requires money and time? Wouldn't the results of ignoring the human side of change cost more to
an organisation in long term? For instance, a change can be easily placed in an organisation structure theoretically in a "cost and time efficient" way,
however when it's comes to practice, these changes might backfire because employees may not be able to see the real reason of these changes and they
can assess them as a treat for their current wealth. Moreover , being aware of the fact that organisational changes are being applied without
consultation, employees might feel unvaluable which in return causes the decay of commitment, loyalty and diligence. In severe cases, they might

The Scientific Management And Human Relations
Organisational behaviour is influenced by two main theories, scientific management and human relations. The scientific management approach
developed by Frederick Winslow Taylor is one of the earliest ideological approaches which attempted to explain a management process scientifically.
The main goal was to find the techniques to improve production efficiency of workers scientifically. On the contrary, human relations studied by Elton
Mayo studied the social interactions within a working environment. Through his studies, he found that social relationships motivates workers at their
workplaces (Daft & Samson 2014; Miller & Form, 1964).Based on the two approaches, this paper looks into the assumptions made on workers; the
path managers should take to maximise the efficiency of workers and lastly, my choice between these two approaches as a worker.
Scientific management assumes the 'economic man' concept where a worker acts rationally to protect their own interests. In this case, the workers
interest lies in money. Therefore, the worker does what is asked of them for a better wage. For example, Schimdt did as instructed for a pay of
$1.85 per hour which is higher than the average of $1.15 per hour. By following the instructions given, he managed to load 47 tons a day instead of
the average of 12 and a half tons (Miller & Form 1964). This signifies that by following instructions, the efficiency of a worker will increase as long as
they are rewarded highly.
Using the 'economic

Human Relations Reflection
The Research in Human Relations course guided me in the application mindset of my studies. Mindfully being able to break down information,
from the statement of the issue to the analysis of data, to even an appropriate outcome that is beneficial to a particular field of study, is what this
course promotes. Don Miguel Ruiz states in his novel, The Four Agreements, that we make different types of assumptions simply because we do not
have the courage to ask questions (Ruiz & Mills, 1997, p. 68). This course enables students to not only want to ask questions but also build on their
incoming knowledge with the tools to support giving back to the field and community. I long to give back through the power of research in my given
field, and upon taking this course I feel empowered to do just that. The Research in HR course set a solid foundation for APA stylewriting, which has
not only benefitted me through graduate school but will continue to benefit me into my career path. Today, APA Style sets the bar that is well
respected in journals, books, and electronic databases (American Psychological Association, 2012). I found this course beneficial because much like
each of my other courses, it further refined my skillsets for my pursuit of clinical administrative work and research on autism and speech in the field of

What Defines Human Nature And The Hierarchy Of Human...
What defines human nature and the hierarchy of human relations? In this paper, I will argue that Beauvoir 's view that society constructs man,
maleness, and the masculine as the human standard (rendering woman, femaleness, and the feminine deviant and defective) is flawed. Although
Beauvoir 's evidence was compelling I had several issues with some of the finer details such as what term designates a human being, that a woman 's
body is considered disadvantaged, and that female nature is defective. I also disagree with her statement that woman can 't think of herself without man,
woman is only a symbol of sex to man, and that man and woman are the Self and the Other.
Firstly, Beauvoir argues that man represents the positive and the neutral while woman represents only the negative. I feel that this statement is
saying that woman is only what man are not. By making this assumption I infer that Beauvoir feels woman is only considered when man has
reached the limits of their reach. However, I believe that man the line separating man and woman is inconclusive in its stance. When looking at what
is considered masculine and what is considered feminine, there are some relatable similarities. For example, the work ethic of a man at work is
similar to the work ethic of a woman at home. A man would be expected to complete his work load in a proficient manner and bring home money to
the family. A woman would be expected to care for the family and the home in a proficient and timely

The Importance Of Human Relations
Summary What is human relations? The term human relations is defined as the interactions among people. Human relations are important to me as
well as many others because it is a skill you need to master to be able to work well with others and build lasting relationships. Whether it be working
with other employees from a different cultural background or learning how to maintain a good relationship with your boss, mentor, or leader, having
good human relation skills will help you succeed in not only your personal life but your professional life as well. Human relation skills are important
to organizations because the skills learned play a major role in what makes an organization succeed. Workplace relations directly affect work
performance and employees must work together through what is defined as teamwork (working together to achieve something beyond the capabilities
of individuals working alone) to accomplish the organizations overall goal. An organizations overall goal should entitle the goal of human relations,
which is to create a win–win situation by satisfying employee needs while achieving organizational objectives. A.How would you describe yourself as
a person? I would describe myself as an outgoing, ambitious, compassionate, and a creative person with an intuitive mind. I am goal–oriented, and I
aspire to be successful in everything that I do by working hard and accomplishing many tasks. I empathize with others, but I like to take control of a

R2P, identified as the responsibility to protect was firstly established in 2001 and initially presented in the report of the 'International Commission on
the Intervention and State Sovereignty'' (ICISS) A group of retired politicians, diplomats and humanitarians chaired by former Australian foreign
minister Garth Evans, and highly respected former Algerian diplomat Mohammed Sahnoun' (Glanville and IVONNE, 2014). This was set up and
represented by the Canadian government in December 2001 which made tensions between state sovereignty and humanitarian necessity obvious by
NATO'S 1999 intervention in Kosovo, which had an impact on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were many difficulties which arose as there were many questions which occurred such as 'who has the right to authority?' to authorize military
intervention for humanitarian purposes? (Heywood, 2011) This is usually referred to the UN security council, this emphasises on the power in which
the security council holds and how much responsibility they have, to protect and maintain peace and security. Secondly, Kofi Annan tried to reconcile
the tension between sovereignty and human rights, by arguing that, in a context of globalization and international cooperation's, the state should be
viewed as 'the servant of people and vice versa' (Annan,1999) . Changing attitudes towards the norm are reflected in the growth in the influence of
such doctrines of intervention as the responsibility to protect is that there is an onus on the international community to intervene in situations, where
the lives of a country's civilian population are threatened by the actions of government (Guelke, 2012) However, this can be seen as a disadvantages
towards 'responsibility to protect' as stated above people's lives and safety are in the hands of governments which in some occasions cannot be good,
as not all civilians agree with government verdicts. Finally, Russia is regarded as a weak rival of the west in geo–strategic terms, its capacity to project
power remains very limited (Guelke, 2012). Another example includes; Iraq, they do not follow the human right law, which shows that they are in need
for protection to prevent waste of supreme court time and funding. Iraq has one of the most corrupt governments in the world, due to lack of human
rights, which is defining the lives of civilians within their country. It is evident that there is a significant need for the right to protect in countries such as

The Importance Of Human Relations
Profit maximisation is a key objective for private firms, and the desire to fulfil such interests through potential improvements in efficiency, led to a
number of organizational theories being developed in the early 20th century. Scientific Management otherwise known as Taylorism, was advocated by
Frederick Taylor (1911), whose philosophy maintained that through the specialization of labour, improving managerial organization and the
implementation of the results from "Time and Motion" studies, maximum efficiency could be attained. Elton Mayo (1924), considered as the founder
of the Human Relations Movement, concluded that it is humans deep rooted aspirations to be valued within a team and by management that actually has
a greater influence on the productivity of employees. On this basis, this essay will argue that because Human Relations takes into account the social
and informal factors of the workplace, it is more relevant to the modern business society.
When Taylor published The Principles ofScientific Management in 1911, he was the first theorist to study organizational behaviour in depth. When
working as a shop superintendent at the Midvale Steel Company he noticed that workers used different and mostly inefficient work methods when
completing tasks along the assembly line (Buchanan & Huczynski, 2017). Taylor (1911) argued that the primary objective of a firm's administration
should be to achieve maximum prosperity for both employers and employees. From this, he

Introduction Human resources are the main drivers for today's organization in managing employees as strategic plan as company's objective (Haslinda
2009). Variety notion related with theory, perceptivity and understanding of human resource evolution from Industrial Relations (IR) tradition to
Human Resource Management (HRM) has transpired to the present day. IR was considerably have two main division: labor management and mutual
negotiation including the method of employment management (Kaufman 2001). The terminology from personnel management, or personnel

short–time program in specific case, on the basis of compliance, whereas HRM for long–term period, responsiveness, and strategic management.
Within labor relationship, PM can be seen as customary notion (pluralist), simultaneous bargaining, yet low commitment or trust, opposite with HRM
(commitment, individual and unitarist). Related with management, the role of PM as professional not widely integrated upon base management. Other
distinctions based on Guest (1987) lies on control system (PM use external, HRM apply individual control), organization form (PM as centralised
organization, HRM more flexible), assessment requirement (PM emphasize on cost reduction, whilst HRM accentuate in human resource utilization).
Moreover, since HRM emphasize on preferable development for management team, as an odd remarkably integrated as coordinated activity (including

Scientific Management And Human Relations
"Scientific Management" and "Human Relations" are two different management approaches. In Scientific Management, managers are responsible to
think and workers do. Frederick Winslow Taylor (1856–1915) develops the Principles of Time and Motion Study, which leads to a conclusion that
certain people have a higher work efficiency compared to the others. In his means, cooperation is "to do what workers are told to do without asking
questions or making suggestions." (as cited in Miller & Form, 1924).
Human Relation Management was founded by Professor Elton Mayo (1880–1949). During the industrial revolution in early 1920's, Mayo initiated the
Human Relation Theory of Management. A psychologist, Henry C. Link (as cited in Miller & Form, 1924, p. 657) relates that the ideal employment
method is receiving applicants from all kinds at one end, sort, interview, and record them, before labelling them with the righteous job. Mayo
introduced an experiment, the Hawthorne Studies, to look into the impact of working environment on the productivity of workers.
Scientific Management, also known as Taylorism, is a theory of management which focuses on workflows analysis. In the 20th century, a large number
of immigrants which lacks the ability to comprehend in English entered the workforce in the United States, whom Taylor concludes that labourers are
not qualified to plan the process of their jobs. "In almost all the mechanic arts the science which underlies each act of each workman is so

Human resource management in Aviation:Recruting and selection.
Abstract
The commercial aviation industry is safety–sensitive, high technology and extremely competitive service industry. The implications are vast and
pervasive affecting no less than the organisation's strategy, culture, and numerous operational activities.
Responsibilities of human resources departments within aviation organisations and the skills of human resources personnel. HRM expertise in general
and recruitment and selection as well as diversity and equal opportunity in particular are required now, more than ever, to spearhead the strategic
development of a customer–centric, learning–oriented workforce that is capable of adapting quickly to the strategic goals and change imperatives facing
the airline industry.
INTRODUCTION
Two fundamental strategy are in aviation and airline industry since the beginning of aviation industry.One.concern of safety, and two,
anever–increasing consumer expectation of broad service choice and service excellence. Research has long shown that accidents and poor service
qualityare primarily rooted in socio–technical human factors, not technology.Sub–optimisation, or poor quality in regards to management, decision

A Positive Relation Between Organizations, Human...
Additionally, trust in organizations is a positive relation with behavior at the workplace and is connected with unions, human resources, and
government interventions. Most government marketplace interventions have used the alternative treatment principle of triage to split those in pain into
three groups : those who cannot be helped with the assets offered ,those who will recuperate (or at least continue ) without any help, and those who will
improve only with instant assistance(Sastre,2010, chap.16).In some anxiety, managers have progressively advanced in training, structural behavior,
and job improvement to help workers. In order that a company is productive a union, human resources, and government interventions must allow
workers to change their habits, skills, values, beliefs, and attitudes in a workforce. This process will more likely take some hard work and years to
process. They need to accept dissatisfactions and unpredicted consequences of solutions to difficult problems, and the continuing power to work
determinedly at improving the quality of help the workers receive.
The federal government has intervened in the past and is still adjusting market outcomes. They are keeping up with the needs of workers. The Home
Ower Loan Corporation, Continental Illinois in 1994, The Savings and Loan Crisis of the 1980s, and Brady bonds in 1989 are some government
interventions which modify market outcomes.
One of the lessons from these four instances of government intervention is

Addressing Employee Relations And Human Resource Management
Addressing Employee Relations
As she sat in her office in Winnipeg, Britney MacPherson thumbed through a textbook on human resource management. As manager of the Winnipeg
location of Maple Leaf Shoes, she was responsible for the day–to–day operations of the facility. However, Britney was finding her job particularly
challenging–although she had a B.Com., which she received in
1994 from a well–known Ontario university, her training had been focused on accounting and finance and she had had only one course in human
resource management. Things were unravelling in Winnipeg, and Britney knew that she needed help. Unfortunately, her phone calls and emails to head
office in Wilmington, Ontario, brought little assistance.
The company policy regarding employee communications was quite simple: "What goes on at the company stays at the company." This policy was
communicated regularly to all employees. However, Joan Jorgenson, a clerk in the office, had violated this policy. A couple of weeks ago, Joan had
struck up a conversation with a coworker, Natalie King. During their talk, Natalie had mentioned that she had recently moved from Wilmington to
Winnipeg, because, according to Natalie, a senior member of management in the Wilmington office had become enraged when Natalie refused his
sexual advances. He had threatened Natalie with dismissal, but after a short discussion an agreement was reached that Natalie would move to the
Winnipeg location. Joan became enraged when she heard Natalie

The Relationship Between Human Relations And Public Relations
Human relations refers to everything we do with, for, and to each other as citizens and as human beings (Dempsey, 2014, pg. 330). An example is
officers integrating ongoing training initiatives for departments to establish respect within communities, regardless of color, ethnicity, economic status
or sexual orientation. Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds strong relationships between the public and organizations. The
public relations approach reflects efforts to improve the public's perception of the police, by informing the public why departments and officers do what
they do and enhancing their public image as first responders and community helpers. Community relations really ties both human relations and public
relations together. "Communities rely on police departments to "protect and serve" and the police, in turn, rely on community support and cooperation,
but the relationship is not always harmonious" (RAND, 2017). They could be either negative or positive, depending on the type of interaction. An
example of this is by taking active interests in the community problems, participating in local government, or simply going to youth activities such as
middle/high school events. Involvement in community programs and neighborhood projects can bring the citizens together with police by creating a
purpose to build unity and show a more personable side of the police.

"America has always been known as a "melting pot", especially with all the minority population that embodies society" (Fire Science Online, 2017).
But today law enforcement is faced with many challenges with certain racial and ethnic compositions. Ethical and racial minorities regarded 90% of
the population growth in the United States from 2000–2010, and the United States is very rapidly becoming even more diverse (Dempsey, 2014, p.

The Human Relations Model Of Management
The business environment of developing economies is constantly changing and organisations must learn that adaption is the key to survival. The
purpose of this investigation is to assess whether the perspective of scientific management or that of the human relations model of management best
explains why some organisations fail whilst others thrive in an ever changing environment. Management models help to simplify reality and have been
adopted by several areas from business to astronomy. The purposes of the models are to be guides to organising and effectively managing an
organisation. The scientific management model created by Taylor et al was a response to the problem of how to organise factory production
efficiently (Moxen, 2015). Whereas the human relations model was created as a response to Mayo and Hawthorne's experiments which identified that
humans are social beings with several needs and wants which has since been adapted by others such as Mary Parker Follet (Moxen, 2015). Throughout
this essay how capable each model is to reacting to change will be investigate this will allow to decipher on the best approach for organisations to

There are so many fallacies for instance the term of 'human relations' and 'human resources' where the contemporary organisation unseen the differences

In Herzberg's Motivation–Hygiene theory led to development of extensive lists of these motivator and hygiene factor (Miller 2006). According to
Miller (2006), the category of motivator factors is responsibility, achievement, recognition, challenging work and advancement in the organisation.
The category of hygiene factors are physical working conditions, salary, benefits, company policy and the technical quality of supervision (Miller
2006). Herzberg believes that the absence of these factors will lead to unhappiness and dissatisfaction. Effective job performance is highly dependent
on the adequacy and balance of both motivator and hygiene factors. A US retailer, Costco is known to be incredibly loyal, which can be keep
profitability for the organisation (Leberecht 2010). Keeping the employees satisfied will make employees perform well and it results in higher
profitability for the organisation in the long run (Leberecht 2010).
The fact that human relation approaches can really enhance the performance control for an organisation is undisputable however it will bring some
negative impacts to an organisation at the same time. Human relations theories revolve broadly around fulfilling employees' needs as an individual in
correlation to their job performance. Therefore, individualism could also indirectly cause the breakdown of cooperation as well as social cycle. For
instance, Maslow's and Herzberg's theory which mentioned about reward as motivator

Human Relations, communication, and interaction with others are key components to effective educational leadership. These are the foundation as to

"They should stay up–to–date with communication technologies, so they are prepared to lead their schools and districts in new ways of
communicating"(Young, et al., 2008, pg. 93). It is crucial that school leaders, lead by example in the ways that they expect their co–workers to
communicate. Effective communication is key to a successful school and positive school climate. The increased use of technology has had affect on
how communication is made in schools. This is at all levels, administration to staff, staff to student, student to staff, and parent to staff, and vice–versa.
A majority of communication is now indirect (via email or text message) versus direct (actual face–to–face interaction). This occurs because of the ease
of using technology and the fact that we are a busy society. Schools are busy, staff is overworked and underpaid with increased accountability. There
is so much to do in so little time. It is much easier to press a few buttons and communicate your message versus going to that person and having an

Classical And Human Relations Perspective
Classical perspective and human relations perspective are two approaches I and fellow school leaders can use to analyze, and solve problems we
might encounter on the job. As a school leader, I would lead using principles from the human relations perspective, because it cultivates an environment
of shared leadership and collaboration. The classical organizational perspective in my opinion is too rigid and tradtional. According to Owen's and
Valensky, the classical perspective principle focuses onhierarchy, unity of command, and span of control. A school leader who puts value on
classical perspective overall believes in a structured chain of command, and that they have the authority and responsibility of everything at school.
Our school system is structured with classical principles, and hierarchy levels. These are things we can't really control. However, we can have a choice
in the way we decide to lead our school. I have personally seen how a top down type of school management philosophy has hurt school culture and
performance in a negative way. Our world is changing and with this leadership needs to change. We live in an era where collaboration is highly valued.
The principles of the human relations perspective I believe are most useful in leading the schools of today. These principles foster a collaborative and
transformative school environment. Owens and Valensky reported that the human relations perspective focuses on the individuals and motivation to

Human Dignity in Relation to Universal Healthcare
Human Dignity is complex there is no solid definition but similar words such as value and worth arise (ACU, 2014, 2.1.2) Many have different
definition of what human dignity is these are two main categories of what human dignity means to people: Category 1 Some understandings of human
dignity are based in the belief that it is something all humans already have, these are called "Attributed Dignity" (Weisstub and DГaz Pintos, 2008, p
27) – Because we are human, OR – Humans have special attributes making us better then all living things Category 2 Other understandings of human
dignity are based in the belief that human dignity is something that people can acquire (or lose) this is known as" Intrinsic Dignity" (Weisstub and
DГaz Pintos, 2008, p 27) – Through their own sense of self worth OR – Through societies view and expectation of that person These categories' are
divide up into four sectors: 1A: Humans have inherent worth simply because they are human. Many religious people hold this belief as we are all
created in God's image. Others claim we have priority over any other living thing on this earth. 1B: Humans have inherent worth because they are
distinctive and special. Through human abilities (independent though that is rational and logical) makes us distinctive to any other species. 2A: People
have dignity when I believe in my own worth. This takes into account the individuals feelings, sense of pride and encouraging individuals to live a
righteous life. 2B:

Comparing Classical and Human Relations Approaches

  • 1. Classical Approach And Human Relations Approach When looking at both the Classical Approach and the Human Relations Approach in a comparative sense, it is easy to clearly point out the vast differences between the two methodologies given that many of the core principles and beliefs of each organisational model are polar opposites of eachother. However in saying that, both approaches consider themselves to be the "One best approach", which I believe to be a common flaw amongst the two. As an employee of two companies (past and present) , I have to a certain degree experienced both organisational models. I myself consider the human relations approach to be superior to that of the classical approach because of my personal inclination towards intrinsic motivations as well as work flexibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it is not the official slogan of the company, "People are our business", is something the organisation very much takes to heart but for a different reason to that of Company A. Company B's business is built on human skill, imagination and innovation and for that reason they have had to adopt an approach which harnesses and facilitates that. Although a clear hierarchy is in place, Company B promotes the illusion of a flat structure whereby managers and subordinates are considered equals in terms of skills and ideas they can bring to the table. Communication is open and uninhibited, team work and informal groups/pairings are encouraged and autonomy in terms of work and task design is the norm. Company B ensures that even an employee coming in at the bottom earns above the market average for their position, has a healthy work life balance and has the potential to move between roles that interest them. The result of Company B taking on the Human Relations approach is that they have one of the highest employee satisfaction ratings, have won several "Best places to work" awards, experience low turnover and have maintained a competitive and lucrative ... Human Relation Essay 3257–Grey–02.qxd 2/21/2005 12:33 PM Page 43 2 Human Relations Theory and People Management The minutiae of the human soul ... emerged as a new domain for management Nikolas Rose Conventional textbooks often set up a simple story about organization theory which has a very appealing structure. In this story, there is a good guy and a bad guy. Who gets to play which role sometimes shifts, but most often the bad guy is the scientific management approach and the good guy is human relations theory. This is a flawed story in my view, and the way I will tell the story emphasizes the many connections and similarities between the two. But I suppose the fact that I am referring to 'the two' implies that there must be some points of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was this which caused the increase in productivity and which demonstrated that the workers could not be regarded as mere parts in the organizational machine. Thus was born the notion of the 'Hawthorne Effect', a staple part not just of organization theory but of social science as a whole. The other study I want to mention was that conducted in the bank wiring room. Here, a small group of male workers were engaged in producing electrical components. It emerged that the group set informal norms around production levels so that, rather than produce their maximum output (which would earn them a bonus) the workers performed sub–optimally. These norms were enforced by a mixture of peer pressure (including physical sanction) and an unofficial 'gang leader'. This suggested that workers were not solely motivated by economic 3257–Grey–02.qxd 2/21/2005

The discovery of the human factor, so the story goes, ushered in a new era in which workers' needs were acknowledged and met. This claim fits not just the 'good guy, bad ... • 4. Human Relation At Primark In Primark, the human relation is based on employees' behaviour where they have their own needs but at the same time they have to comply with the company's policy (Rodrigo, 2012). So it is the managers or supervisors' job to solve such problems and to ensure both employee and the management able to comply in order to get a win–win situation as both gets what they want. According to Rodrigo (2012), Primark's human relation faces some issues that affect the employee performance that can be evaluated from their behaviour. Such behaviour can be caused by social factors such as customer service and security of the employee. The problem faced by the employee in human relation is the customer service where worker are not allow respond in a bad way which will make the customer to behave negatively and leave the shop which ... In Maslow's need hierarchy, it is a theory of motivation which relates to people's behaviour based on their needs to satisfy a progression of physiological, social and psychological needs (McLeod, 2014). Based on issue, it affects the physiological needs of the pleasant working condition as employee will feel insecure knowing the fact that such situation is unavoidable and could cause stress and lose confidence in their work. This issue also affects the safety level of needs where the job security could be threat by the customer through lawsuit and in a worst case scenario, the employee could get fired just to satisfied the customer self–esteem and save the business reputation. • 5. Managing Human Relations Definition of Human Relations In our business world today, people who enter the workforce are discovering that interpersonal skills represent a very important category of basic skills valued by employers. These skills can also help us to cope with a wide range of work–life issues and conflicts that surface in our lives. Besides that, these skills will also help us in areas such as interviewing to get a job in the future, improving our personal communication skills and building and thus maintaining productive relationships with others in the workplace. These skills lead to a term which is known as human relations. Human relations is defined in its broadest sense which covers all types of interactions among people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the reasons is because organizations are advancing more to the age of Information Technology (IT) and many things in the world nowadays are done by machines and requires a minimal amount of manpower. This will lessen the job opportunities and even those who have worked in the particular workplace will be forced to resign or quit their respective jobs. As an effect of this, many organizations will shortlist those workers who are performing at a full pace and achieving more goals than others to remain in the company and then hand in a resignation letter for those workers who are underperforming or those who failed to achieve their goals. In order to tackle this issue, many companies nowadays spend most of their time to train their employees so that they could be better workers and would help the company to achieve more success in the future. When the company trains their employees, the employees are expected to understand on what is required of them during the day at work. Employees are also required to continuously build relationships with their employers or managers of the company and also learn to accept the other employees which are working together with them. In addition, another major reason on why human relations is important in workplaces is because most companies are growing bigger and bigger compared to few years back. Many large companies ... • 6. Reflection On Human Relations I started this class as an assistant manager for a restaurant which comes with human relations in every aspect possible. After assesing my human relations abilities and skills in the beginning of the course my three strengths were first, understanding how personality and perception affect peoples behavior, human relations, and performance. It is very easy for me to understand how personality affect people in everything that they do. I able to recognize that no one is the same. We all have different attitudes, different personal lives, different views and just because we are not all the same doesn't mean we can't still be respectful to one another or put ourselves in someone else's shoes. I work with all different kinds of people whom all have different kind of personalities that all bring different attitudes; but I have taken the time to understand them and get to know them so if I see someone flustered I know if they need help or if I'm hovering. I can feel when things get edgy in the work place and sometimes we get cranky in the middle of a busy day, but at the end of the day we are all still one big happy dysfunctional work family that come with many different skills in order to deal with such a wide variety of personality. second, knowing to open conversations to get people to give me career assistance. At first I used to hate to ask for assistance because I didn't like feeling as if a question I had was stupid or not. Now if I can't learn something on my own I am more than happy to ask for assistance because not only does it show an interest in learning something new, but to ask a certain individual and make them feel good that I thought of them to ask for assistance makes it a happy learning experience. Lastly understanding how to resolve conflicts in a way that does not hurt relationships. whether the conflict is with me and someone else or between my employees I always like to make sure that by the end of the situation we are all on the same page and that whatever situation is we can fix it. About a year ago I had a situation with a coworker and I can't remember what she said, but I had been flustered about something so when she had said something to me my response was a little rude and she kind of ... • 7. Human Relations Model Of Management Introduction Since the turn of the twentieth century a number of management theories have been introduced into our society. These theories give insight into the ways in which organisations are run. Different models of management are adopted depending on whether they rely on adaptability and innovation for survival or whether their central aim is mass production to keep up with an ever–increasing demand. The two scenarios described would either adopt a scientific management approach or a human relations model of management. The latter of which will be argued is the most effective method when an organisation is dependent on innovation and creativity for its survival. First it is helpful to address what is meant by the term 'management'. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The principles discussed in his work lay out the foundation for what he believed to be the optimum procedures for creating a highly productive and efficient working environment. However, Taylor does not give a clear description of what is meant by the term 'scientific management'. Another writer on the subject, Robert F Hoxie provides this definition: "Scientific management is a system devised by industrial engineers for the purpose of serving the common interests of employers, workmen and society at large through the elimination of avoidable wastes, the general improvement of the processes and methods of production, and the just and scientific distribution of the product" (Hoxie, 1915:140). As we can see from the definition given, the underlying theme of this model of management is industrial efficiency. Taylor's goal was to introduce a model that would increase output and decrease waste. One–way in which Taylor foreseen greater efficiency within the workplace was through the introduction of standardisation. Taylor (1911: 140) explained in his book: "science over rule of thumb; harmony, not discord; cooperation, not individualism; maximum output, in place of restricted output; and the development of each man to his greatest efficiency and prosperity." 'cooperation not individualism' – from this statement alone we can see that there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. What Is Climate Change In Relation To The Non-Human? Climate fiction presents an interesting look at the climate change crisis in this era of the Anthropocene, especially when it illustrates a future where climate change has caused significant changes to the earth and its inhabitants–specifically, its human inhabitants. From human evolution, to massive geographical and ecological changes to the earth, climate fiction offers new perspectives on the potential effects of climate change. This essay will present an idea about a new interpretation of the human in relation to the non–human through discussions on the "human exception" and how human action affects not only the human species, but also every other species on earth. This essay will discuss the relationship between the human and non–human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dick's The Golden Man still presents an interesting dynamic with the human in relation to the non–human. In Dick's work, certain humans on earth have evolved or mutated into humanoids with different non–human body parts or abilities, or abnormal humanoid characteristics; and these mutated humans are being hunted down and eliminated (2015). It seems that the mutants are being hunted out of fear. It could be a fear that the idea of "human exception" is being threatened by the mutants, which are viewed as an evolved species who can replace the human as the supreme being of the world. The relationship between the human and non–human in this story mainly centers around humans being the top of the food chain, and the mutants threatening that position. Even though the mutants are just mutated humans, they are categorized as creatures that threaten the survival of the human race. This dynamic relationship illustrates the idea that even though we see ourselves as the most superior species of the world, we are still just creatures who have the fear of becoming less powerful and intelligent than another ... • 10. Do Somebodies Have The Power To Reshape Human Relations? I hope to persuade you that the seemingly frivolous title question holds a secret with the power to reshape human relations. That a wish for fame belies the existence of a crippling, undiagnosed malady, one rather like malnutrition, except that it's a disease of the self, not the body. Let me explain. In a world that sees people as Somebodies and Nobodies, indignities abound. The primary source of man–made indignity is rankism. By analogy with racism and sexism, rankism is defined as what somebodies do to nobodies. To be sure, not all somebodies abuse their power advantage. We've all known somebodies who are devoted to serving others and wouldn't think of abusing their rank, just as prior to the civil rights and women's movements there were whites who weren't racist and men who weren't sexist. On the other hand, most of us, even quasi–somebodies, have gotten a taste of the indignities routinely visited upon those taken for nobodies. Rankism is now appearing on the radar screen. To do so, it needed a name, and at last it has one. (If it's new to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are two ways to deal with this. We can either follow the example of identity politics and de–legitimize rankism (as the civil rights and women's movements have de–legitimized racism and sexism, and as the gay and disability movements are doing to overcome homophobia and ableism). Or, we can attempt to acquire enough power to place ourselves squarely in the Somebody camp and so enjoy the relative security that status provides in a society saturated with rankism. Everyone knows that it's imprudent to indignify a somebody. Who hasn't fantasized getting even with those who put us down when we were vulnerable by shoving our Oscar, Emmy, MVP award, Pulitzer, Nobel, or simply our promotion, in their faces? Accrue enough fame in life and you may even attain immortality and, in the words of the song, "live ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Relation Between Architecture And The Environment.this... An architect cannot build a consistent and stable structure without knowing the relationship between architecture and the environment. This topic should be discussed on various angles. One of them is the aesthetical point of view, and the other is the human intervention in nature. The former is essentially an artistic debate and a generic timeless topic since the beginning of architectural practices. The other one is a more contemporary issue. In a broader aspect, this topic isn't only the architect 's interest, but also is an issue of engineers, scientists and even social scientist 's; and yet it can even extend to global warming concerns. For this reason, let us firstly start and find out the most current dispute entitled as human intervention in nature. Humans since their very first existence have been in a big struggle against the nature. However, they shape the nature to suffice their needs and in essence adapt themselves accordingly into the conditions given by the Mother Nature. Over time nature has resisted to this human endeavor in every possible way it can and tried not to surrender humans. No matter how strong this resistance is; humans somehow found a way to break it down with their inborn skills that they managed to develop in time. This can be regarded as a seamless dance between these two enormous forces. As the nature manifested itself as an obstacle where humans accomplished to push it away, this struggle shaped the way in which humans developed a way of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Relation Between Prostitution and Human Trafficking Essay Although the world is made up of a variety of people, every person is entitled to basic rights. According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, all human beings are born free and equal. These rights apply to everyone throughout the world regardless of gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or age. During the nineteenth century, in well–known populated cities, prostitution was apparent. According to William Logan, a mission worker visiting Ireland claimed that the city of Cork had approximately eighty–five brothels, which contained about 356 prostitutes collectively in the year of 1945. Logan also mentioned how young girls were sold by family members for money. In 1870 the Garda (Ireland's police officials) instigated 11,864 women because they were assumed to be prostitutes. During the 1800's Magdalene asylums were also very common. In Dublin specifically there were at least eleven workhouses, similar to the Magdalene asylums, attempting to transform prostitutes into proper ladies (Luddy, 1997). The Dublin Metropolitan Police (DMP) was not proactive during this time either. The DMP were only involved in prostitution cases if it disrupted the public. The lack of government control over this issue is one of the main influences that made human trafficking easily available in Ireland. However, it is difficult to obtain research of trafficking. But according to dictionary.com, the definition is a study of group behavior for the purpose of improving interpersonal relationships, as among employees. An example of human relations is something all people have been taught when they were younger and that is to treat people exactly how you want to be treated. Which basically means to build a strong relationship whether it is good or if it is bad. So if police officers want respect from everyday society they have to try and respect society as well. Public relations is defined as activities performed by police agencies designed to create a favorable image of themselves. An example of police public relations is where a police department will have an even where the community can get involved and experience the police life. • 14. Reflection On Human Relations Evaluating my own reflection was indeed something hard to do until I started learning Human Relations. Without self–awareness and self–disclosure, one can't see his own reflection. It's like a mirage in the dessert. We assume that something is there, but it won't be there. And others mostly won't envision the views we perceive. We may even have different opinions and may end up in fights. It is pretty easy to make friends in your peer group. But it is hard when it comes to true friendship and may be even harder when we reach to a level of best friends forever. Isn't it amazing when one understands us as the same way and accepts how we are! That's where human relations start its race. The ability to interact with other people is definitely a hard way to follow. Each of the persons has their own qualities, character and culture difference. That's what it makes everyone unique. With mutual respect and self–disclosure we can enlighten and strengthen our human relations with our own self–reflection. When we get comfortable with someone of our same intellectual as well as emotional level, our barriers of complex just break down. And you allow them to see as who you really are! That is when we go through the Johari window, all the windows such as open area/blind area/hidden area/unknown are getting wide open not only to our friends but also to ourselves to explore what is hidden in ourselves. Going through such an incident in my life when I was doing my undergraduate program in China, I was surrounded with a bunch of friends who were with me most of the time. But none of them could see the inner me as I lacked self–disclosure because of insecurity that I felt. But at a moment when I allowed myself to open in front of them, our relationship accomplished a new level from acquaintanceship to a powerful level where we motivated one another. Moreover, our hidden area in the Johari window got larger and we all understood what all talents we had. That was an eye opener for me! • 17. The Human Relations Movement? The Human Relations Movement When you hear human relations movement what do you think of? Do you know what the human relations movement is? To answer these questions first you need to understand which time period this movement came out of. Take a guess. To give you a hint this was the time of booming industrialization. Most men, women, and even children spent from before dawn to after dusk working in factories for minimal pay. If you guessed the 1920's–30's you would have been right. The human relations movement came about because businesses wanted to understand how groups of people behaved in a workplace and how the unions advocated for their workers. With poor working conditions, low pay, and no benefits, something needed to be done. Frederick Winslow Taylor's idea of scientific management gives you the perspective of a company, his philosophy sought to increase productivity, and make the work easier by scientifically studying work methods and establishing standards (A Brief History of Management, pg. 37). These are principles of early management. By examining the efficiency of workers you were able to increase production and get the product or services on the market faster. Working with employees in regards to steady hours, good pay, and getting benefits like days off and retirement were details that the unions dealt with. Also, in order to consult employees, using the methods like surveys, focus–groups interviews and hiring an expert in this area would cost to a company. Wouldn't the results of ignoring the human side of change cost more to an organisation in long term? For instance, a change can be easily placed in an organisation structure theoretically in a "cost and time efficient" way, however when it's comes to practice, these changes might backfire because employees may not be able to see the real reason of these changes and they can assess them as a treat for their current wealth. • 19. The Scientific Management And Human Relations Organisational behaviour is influenced by two main theories, scientific management and human relations. The scientific management approach developed by Frederick Winslow Taylor is one of the earliest ideological approaches which attempted to explain a management process scientifically. The main goal was to find the techniques to improve production efficiency of workers scientifically. On the contrary, human relations studied by Elton Mayo studied the social interactions within a working environment. Through his studies, he found that social relationships motivates workers at their workplaces (Daft & Samson 2014; Miller & Form, 1964).Based on the two approaches, this paper looks into the assumptions made on workers; the path managers should take to maximise the efficiency of workers and lastly, my choice between these two approaches as a worker. Scientific management assumes the 'economic man' concept where a worker acts rationally to protect their own interests. In this case, the workers interest lies in money. Therefore, the worker does what is asked of them for a better wage. For example, Schimdt did as instructed for a pay of $1.85 per hour which is higher than the average of $1.15 per hour. By following the instructions given, he managed to load 47 tons a day instead of the average of 12 and a half tons (Miller & Form 1964). This signifies that by following instructions, the efficiency of a worker will increase as long as they are rewarded highly. Using the 'economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Don Miguel Ruiz states in his novel, The Four Agreements, that we make different types of assumptions simply because we do not have the courage to ask questions (Ruiz & Mills, 1997, p. 68). This course enables students to not only want to ask questions but also build on their incoming knowledge with the tools to support giving back to the field and community. I long to give back through the power of research in my given field, and upon taking this course I feel empowered to do just that. • 21. What Defines Human Nature And The Hierarchy Of Human... What defines human nature and the hierarchy of human relations? In this paper, I will argue that Beauvoir 's view that society constructs man, maleness, and the masculine as the human standard (rendering woman, femaleness, and the feminine deviant and defective) is flawed. Although Beauvoir 's evidence was compelling I had several issues with some of the finer details such as what term designates a human being, that a woman 's body is considered disadvantaged, and that female nature is defective. I also disagree with her statement that woman can 't think of herself without man, woman is only a symbol of sex to man, and that man and woman are the Self and the Other. Firstly, Beauvoir argues that man represents the positive and the neutral while woman represents only the negative. I feel that this statement is saying that woman is only what man are not. By making this assumption I infer that Beauvoir feels woman is only considered when man has reached the limits of their reach. However, I believe that man the line separating man and woman is inconclusive in its stance. When looking at what is considered masculine and what is considered feminine, there are some relatable similarities. For example, the work ethic of a man at work is similar to the work ethic of a woman at home. A man would be expected to complete his work load in a proficient manner and bring home money to the family. Human relations are important to me as well as many others because it is a skill you need to master to be able to work well with others and build lasting relationships. Whether it be working with other employees from a different cultural background or learning how to maintain a good relationship with your boss, mentor, or leader, having good human relation skills will help you succeed in not only your personal life but your professional life as well. Human relation skills are important to organizations because the skills learned play a major role in what makes an organization succeed. Workplace relations directly affect work performance and employees must work together through what is defined as teamwork (working together to achieve something beyond the capabilities of individuals working alone) to accomplish the organizations overall goal. An organizations overall goal should entitle the goal of human relations, which is to create a win–win situation by satisfying employee needs while achieving organizational objectives. Changing attitudes towards the norm are reflected in the growth in the influence of such doctrines of intervention as the responsibility to protect is that there is an onus on the international community to intervene in situations, where the lives of a country's civilian population are threatened by the actions of government (Guelke, 2012) However, this can be seen as a disadvantages towards 'responsibility to protect' as stated above people's lives and safety are in the hands of governments which in some occasions cannot be good, as not all civilians agree with government verdicts. • 24. The Importance Of Human Relations Profit maximisation is a key objective for private firms, and the desire to fulfil such interests through potential improvements in efficiency, led to a number of organizational theories being developed in the early 20th century. Scientific Management otherwise known as Taylorism, was advocated by Frederick Taylor (1911), whose philosophy maintained that through the specialization of labour, improving managerial organization and the implementation of the results from "Time and Motion" studies, maximum efficiency could be attained. Elton Mayo (1924), considered as the founder of the Human Relations Movement, concluded that it is humans deep rooted aspirations to be valued within a team and by management that actually has a greater influence on the productivity of employees. On this basis, this essay will argue that because Human Relations takes into account the social and informal factors of the workplace, it is more relevant to the modern business society. When Taylor published The Principles ofScientific Management in 1911, he was the first theorist to study organizational behaviour in depth. When working as a shop superintendent at the Midvale Steel Company he noticed that workers used different and mostly inefficient work methods when completing tasks along the assembly line (Buchanan & Huczynski, 2017). Taylor (1911) argued that the primary objective of a firm's administration should be to achieve maximum prosperity for both employers and employees. From this, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Scientific Management And Human Relations "Scientific Management" and "Human Relations" are two different management approaches. In Scientific Management, managers are responsible to think and workers do. Frederick Winslow Taylor (1856–1915) develops the Principles of Time and Motion Study, which leads to a conclusion that certain people have a higher work efficiency compared to the others. In his means, cooperation is "to do what workers are told to do without asking questions or making suggestions." (as cited in Miller & Form, 1924). Human Relation Management was founded by Professor Elton Mayo (1880–1949). During the industrial revolution in early 1920's, Mayo initiated the Human Relation Theory of Management. A psychologist, Henry C. Link (as cited in Miller & Form, 1924, p. 657) relates that the ideal employment method is receiving applicants from all kinds at one end, sort, interview, and record them, before labelling them with the righteous job. Mayo introduced an experiment, the Hawthorne Studies, to look into the impact of working environment on the productivity of workers. Scientific Management, also known as Taylorism, is a theory of management which focuses on workflows analysis. Additionally, trust in organizations is a positive relation with behavior at the workplace and is connected with unions, human resources, and government interventions. Most government marketplace interventions have used the alternative treatment principle of triage to split those in pain into three groups : those who cannot be helped with the assets offered ,those who will recuperate (or at least continue ) without any help, and those who will improve only with instant assistance(Sastre,2010, chap.16).In some anxiety, managers have progressively advanced in training, structural behavior, and job improvement to help workers. In order that a company is productive a union, human resources, and government interventions must allow workers to change their habits, skills, values, beliefs, and attitudes in a workforce. This process will more likely take some hard work and years to process. They need to accept dissatisfactions and unpredicted consequences of solutions to difficult problems, and the continuing power to work determinedly at improving the quality of help the workers receive. An example is officers integrating ongoing training initiatives for departments to establish respect within communities, regardless of color, ethnicity, economic status or sexual orientation. Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds strong relationships between the public and organizations. The public relations approach reflects efforts to improve the public's perception of the police, by informing the public why departments and officers do what they do and enhancing their public image as first responders and community helpers. Community relations really ties both human relations and public relations together. "Communities rely on police departments to "protect and serve" and the police, in turn, rely on community support and cooperation, but the relationship is not always harmonious" (RAND, 2017). They could be either negative or positive, depending on the type of interaction. An example of this is by taking active interests in the community problems, participating in local government, or simply going to youth activities such as middle/high school events. The category of hygiene factors are physical working conditions, salary, benefits, company policy and the technical quality of supervision (Miller 2006). Herzberg believes that the absence of these factors will lead to unhappiness and dissatisfaction. Keeping the employees satisfied will make employees perform well and it results in higher profitability for the organisation in the long run (Leberecht 2010). This continues to be important in education, as accountability in schools and its workers are constantly being increased. In order to work well within the organizational environment of a school, superintendents, coaches, teachers, parents, community members and students must be able to communicate in a variety of effective modalities (Razik & Swanson, 2010). These modalities gives school leaders the tools that they need to make effective decisions that can improve a school and all it's components. "They should stay up–to–date with communication technologies, so they are prepared to lead their schools and districts in new ways of communicating"(Young, et al., 2008, pg. 93). It is crucial that school leaders, lead by example in the ways that they expect their co–workers to communicate. Effective communication is key to a successful school and positive school climate. The increased use of technology has had affect on how communication is made in schools. This is at all levels, administration to staff, staff to student, student to staff, and parent to staff, and vice–versa. A majority of communication is now indirect (via email or text message) versus direct (actual face–to–face interaction). This occurs because of the ease of using technology and the fact that we are a busy society. Schools are busy, staff is overworked and underpaid with increased accountability. There is so much to do in so little time. It is much easier to press a few buttons and communicate your message versus going to that person and having an actual conversation. "Reitz (1987) reported that face–to–face communication tends to be more effective than written communication (if the verbal and nonverbal cues are compatible) but admitted that written communication tends to yield greater comprehension" (Razik & Swanson, 2010, pg. 165). • 38. Classical And Human Relations Perspective Classical perspective and human relations perspective are two approaches I and fellow school leaders can use to analyze, and solve problems we might encounter on the job. As a school leader, I would lead using principles from the human relations perspective, because it cultivates an environment of shared leadership and collaboration. The classical organizational perspective in my opinion is too rigid and tradtional. According to Owen's and Valensky, the classical perspective principle focuses onhierarchy, unity of command, and span of control. A school leader who puts value on classical perspective overall believes in a structured chain of command, and that they have the authority and responsibility of everything at school. Our school system is structured with classical principles, and hierarchy levels. These are things we can't really control. However, we can have a choice in the way we decide to lead our school. I have personally seen how a top down type of school management philosophy has hurt school culture and performance in a negative way. Our world is changing and with this leadership needs to change. We live in an era where collaboration is highly valued. The principles of the human relations perspective I believe are most useful in leading the schools of today. These principles foster a collaborative and transformative school environment. Owens and Valensky reported that the human relations perspective focuses on the individuals and motivation to ... Epistemology is distinct from ontology in the sense that epistemology focuses on the knowledge of things, the way we know things while ontology investigates what things are in nature and origin which helps me to know who I am. Epistemology is concerned with belief rationality, nature, origin, methods, knowledge validity and limits of human knowledge, (Genest, 2004). • 40. Human Dignity in Relation to Universal Healthcare Human Dignity is complex there is no solid definition but similar words such as value and worth arise (ACU, 2014, 2.1.2) Many have different definition of what human dignity is these are two main categories of what human dignity means to people: Category 1 Some understandings of human dignity are based in the belief that it is something all humans already have, these are called "Attributed Dignity" (Weisstub and DГaz Pintos, 2008, p 27) – Because we are human, OR – Humans have special attributes making us better then all living things Category 2 Other understandings of human dignity are based in the belief that human dignity is something that people can acquire (or lose) this is known as" Intrinsic Dignity" (Weisstub and DГaz Pintos, 2008, p 27) – Through their own sense of self worth OR – Through societies view and expectation of that person These categories' are divide up into four sectors: 1A: Humans have inherent worth simply because they are human. Many religious people hold this belief as we are all created in God's image. Others claim we have priority over any other living thing on this earth. 1B: Humans have inherent worth because they are distinctive and special. Through human abilities (independent though that is rational and logical) makes us distinctive to any other species. 2A: People have dignity when I believe in my own worth.
