2. TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE
-TRP is a lenguage teaching method.
-OBJECTIVE: teach the lenguage through techniques that take the
physical activity as a main point.
-It was developed by James Asher . He studied the coordination of
the speech and the learning process of the first language so as
to adapt the same development in the acquisition of the second
language.
3. METHOD
-This method is based on the theory of which the memory is
closely related to the physical movement.
-The aim of the physical total response is develop the oral
competence in the second language and it tries to minimize the
stress of the learning process by means of the physical actions
and the game.
-The teacher manages the actions that
the students realize.
They only have to listen.
4. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES:
·The activities are simple and they don’t need advance preparation.
·This method can be used from small children upwards, the teacher only
has to
adapt it depending to the level.
·This method needs attitude but not aptitude and it works well in classes
where
the students have mixed skills.
·This system is perfect for the students who need to be active and
movement
in the classroom (Kinaesthetic students).
·TPR doesn’t work so well when classroom space in not very wide because
it limits the actions that students can do.
·The teacher needs to mix other activities because his class may get bored.
