Abuse Of Zoos For Animals
Zoos are Internment Camps for Animals As claimed in the LCA article, "Animals in zoos are forced
to live in artificial, stressful, and downright boring conditions"(User, Super). Evidence shows time
to time that animals are being affected by zoos. There are many things hidden behind the facilities,
that many people do not know about. The animals are being held in conditions that no animal should
ever live in. Even though some zoos do focus on helping the animals, they are not as beneficial to
the animal because they are not provided with the proper care and attention they need and zoos do
not try to fix their problems. Many zoo animals are not provided with the sufficient care and
attention. There have been various reports of abuse and neglection toward the animals. In some
cases people were able to capture videos of these terrible actions, and were able to use them as
evidence to show the authorities and audience who are not aware of these atrocious events
occurring. In the article,Undercover Investigations Reveal Abuse of Tiger Cubs at Roadside Zoos,
the author revealed the different ways the owners of a roadside zoo would abuse the tiger cubs. For
example,"At Tiger Safari,Maximus , a white tiger cub was dragged, choked, tossed and suspended
by his legs and tail "(Amini). This quote from the article describes to the reader in ... Show more

First not all animals are treated equally in every zoo. But most importantly, they will always be
going under this treatment until everyone is aware of the kind of care these animals are going
through behind those cage doors. Or unless the authorities get more strict on how the zoos need to
care and handle those animals, then maybe there could be a change in the lives of the animals. With
research anyone can learn and educate themselves of what they can do to try to help those animals in

Intentional Animal Abuse
Animal Abuse The shocking number of animal abuse cases reported every day is nothing compared
to most of those which are never reported. Cases of animal abuse are not compiled by the state or
federal agencies such as violent crimes against humans. This makes it much more difficult to
calculate how much it actually happens. Information available to us can help us better understand
and prevent cases of abuse against animals. They're all special and talented in their own way.
Animals should not be shown for games or entertainment. It can happen anywhere. Animal abuse is
common in both rural and urban areas. Intentional animal cruelty is strongly correlated with violent
crimes against people. Hoarding behavior is harmful to animals, for if someone suffers from this
disorder, it may be dangerous for the animal/s because they may house more than they can
adequately care for. Surveys suggest that intentional animal abuse is mostly by men predominantly

The most often reported cases of animal abuse happen to be to dogs, cats, horses and livestock. Back
in 2011, 1,423 cases of animal abuse were reported, including: 70.1% involving dogs, 20.9%
involving cats, and 24.1% involving other animals. Undercover investigations reveal that abuse
most often happens in the factory farm industry. Due to the weak protections afforded to livestock
under state cruelty laws, only the most shocking cases are reported. Few of these cases are ever
prosecuted. Those who abuse animals are most likely to abuse humans too. Data reveals that a large
number of animals are targeted by those who abuse others around them, such as their children or
spouse. 71% of domestic violence victims claim that their abuser also targeted pets. Families under
investigation for child abuse also reveal pet abuse had occurred in 88% of these homes. Many
victims stay in their abusive households out of fear for their animal's

Animal Abuse In America
It seems like nowadays nearly everyone in society knows something about the abuse. If not, abuse is
a somatic or physiological form of harm. It also seems that more and more people are getting
concerned about animal abuse, and promptly because of that, there are more foundations to help
rescue animals, and nurture them back to health. However, animals around the globe are still not
getting rescued and are getting abused. In order to be fully acquainted about animal abuse, the
common types of animal abuse, and the causes of animal abuse must all be explored, as well as the
ways to prohibit the occurrence of animal abuse. Animals have rights, those in which are being
violated. Animals can not defend themselves, so America needs to defend animal ... Show more

According to Carol Glaser, in her article "See No Evil" Explains that "People, therefore, deny
animal suffering when they choose not to acknowledge or understand it (cognition), are not bothered
or disturbed by it (emotion), do not find it to be wrong or an issue or something they should be
concerned with (morality), and don't react to put a stop to it (action)" (5). Animal abuse should a
very disturbing topic and should also cause people to take an action to put a stop to it. Taking an
action would include becoming a vegetarian or vegan, rescuing animals from abusive homes, or
even donate money to an animal rescue agency would be taking action. An animal charity is a place
where citizens donate money either through the mail or online to a charity of your choice to help
animals going through abuse get nursed back to health, or at worse case get put out of misery. Most
of the people that deny being involved with animal abuse might not have known, but eating meat
would be considered a case of animal abuse. When people buy meat they are really just paying other
people to abuse an animal for others consumption. When people are buying meat, they need to
acknowledge the fact that it is contributing to animal abuse. Gary L. Francicone in his article
"Eating Meat Is Also Animal Abuse" Explains that " We kill and eat more than fifty–eight billion
animals each year here in America, not including fish.

Abusing animals is not acceptable and it is most definitely inexcusable. Laws and consequences that
are more harsh should be put into place. Why should animals be treated differently? A human that
abuses an animal badly on purpose, should be considered dangerous. If a person cannot act
humanely towards an animal, then in reality, what's to stop them from acting like that towards a
human? A person who abuses an animal is dangerous to humans and animals alike. Another valid
reason to make more harsher consequences is simple. Say a person does serve his/her time in jail or
pays the fine. Sure they will not be allowed to own an animal, but what's to stop them from abusing
an animal again? There should be a rule in place where your on protocol and have people
supervising the person to make sure that they will not abuse an animal again. Or say if they did
abuse an animal again, the fine and jail time should triple or double, the person should be put into a
course about animal abuse and how to treat an animal, and how bad of pain the animal goes through
during abuse. Abusing an animal is like abusing a child, the child is defenseless and can not do
anything to stop it. That is the same thing with an animal. What can an animal do to defend itself?
Run and hide? Maybe try to bite or scratch? Other than that the animal is completely defenseless.

Animal Cruelty And Animal Abuse
Animal Abuse is when someone hurts an animal or does not care for the animal responsibly. It's
against the law to hard or be cruel to animals. It's also called animal cruelty. The topic is going to be
over is animal abuse. There's a lot of people against animal abuse. A lot of researchers try to find a
way to stop animal abuse. The FBI is conducting an investigation to find out a way to serve justice
to those that abuse animals. Animal abuse has been going on for a very long time now and it need to
stop. People that show any type of abuse to a nonhuman like substance may receive time in prison.
A Texas study found that people who also abuse pets are more dangerous and have more violent
behaviors than those who don't abuse animals. Research shows that between 18 and 48 percent of
battered women, and their children delay leaving abusive situations in fear for what could happen to
their animals. The Chicago
Police Department found out that a certain percent of individuals have been arrested for dog fighting
and animal abuse had domestic violence charges on their records. As found on the internet "Animal
cruelty is increasingly viewed as a serious issue by professionals in law enforcement and mental
health–as well as by the general public. The effective prosecution of animal abuse has many
benefits. It can provide an early and timely response to those who are, or who are risk of becoming,

Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Animals
Being able to aid abused, injured, or ill animals, see the background of different animals, and
witness shy, timid animals warm up to humans is one the the many amazing experiences that one
gets to witness volunteering at an animal shelter. During the time I spend volunteering at the
Youngwood Animals Friends Shelter I get the privilege to aid abused, injured, or ill animals. My
first abused animal that I had helped was a black collie lab mix ame Tessa. Tessa was a dog who
despised humans and dogs alike. She would growl, snap, bark aggressively and do all of the signs of
basic signs of defense or threats.I didn't walk her because she was on the category of 'red'. Red
meant that a volunteer needed special training to walk the red dogs. I am not trained to walk said red
dogs but i was able to give her treats and clean her kennel. ANother dog, who's name was Cody, he
was a mix of shelties and collies. Cody was surrendered by his owners due to the fact he was
roaming the neighborhood underweight and has a old leg injury. The vet determined that the leg had
to be amputated due to the fact that it was no use to Cody any more and was just getting in his way
of a better quality of life. The day after Cody's surgery Cody walked up the two flights of steps to
get into the cat wing. He was a new dog, with his injured leg amputated he was acting like the puppy
he should be acting. Sadly, Cody passed was recently due to an unknown reason. He died in his
sleep on his bed in his new home

Animal Cruelty and Abuse Animal abuse is said to be an under reported abuse stated by The
Humane Society, it is also seen as a disturbing abuse. The rate in which animal abuse is going is
only making it terrifying. The statistics of animal abuse are rising more and more with each year that
comes. Although humans see it as something unfathomable, animal abuse occurs every day. Animal
abuse is when physical pain, scarring, or death is brought upon an animal for no reason or showing
it neglect. As shown in a group of statistics by The Humane Society shows that most abuse cases
occur in dogs the most, commonly the pit bull. The Humane Society states that in 2001 abuse that

But if humans would just take a little more precaution in the person and get to know the buyer then
more than likely you will see their true identity within that time and you can decide on wether you
think it is a good or bad idea to sell your animal to that person.
There is a particular story told by a website called Animal Abuse and it tells a story of a pit bull
named Oogy. The pit bull was one night thrown out as bait for another pit bull as practice before its
fight. As Oogy was left there to die cops raided the house and immediately took Oogy to the animal
hospital. As bad as the doctors wanted to save the poor dog it looked as if he was not going to make
it through the surgery. The dog had lost a lot of blood and had his whole ear bitten off and some of
his jaw taken off. But somehow he did, he made it through surgery. As a young man and his son
came in with their 15 year old cat they saw the dog and instantly fell in love with the dog. They
recalled it as if the dogs sent them a million kisses in that moment. The family later took the dog in
and loved it as their own and took very good care of it – enough care to where it even learned to
trust again, although it would have flashbacks. Once the father was kicking a stone off of their patio
and as the dog saw the kicking motion he rushed back in the house and sat in the corner with fear in
his eyes until he was soothed. Another

Abuse Of Animal Domestication
ow are animals in today's world abused and domesticated by humans? Animal domestication
benefits most countries because it helps them farm, grow food, and get materials. In Syria, Asia, and
Europe pigs were utilized more in settled farming communities than in nomadic groups because they
are difficult to move for long distance. One reason animals are domesticated is for their hides and
their fur, which provides materials for shelter. Hides are used in teepees as well, while hair is used
for plaster. Early men relied on bones and hides for tools.
People domesticate animals for a number of reasons, buying and selling them so they can help us

Animal can be abused by how you treat them, but what has that animal ever did to you that would
want you to kill it, There are stories about human abuse, but has there ever been a person who would
worry about their pets that they can also get abused, Whenever you look at an animal's eyes would
you ever think that they have feelings that they to also suffer as you do. Everyone has feelings same
as animals just to look at their face or eyes you would know about how they feel, Animals can feel
pain and suffer just as humans can but since sociopaths have a general inability to empathise, they
are able to inflict pain and urgency on sentient beings with no feelings of remorse the increasing
probability that cruelty to humans is the next step. The quote that stands out is (This is a personal

our dogs were kicked, punched, jerked at the neck by chain lead shed hardness tightened into place

pets become afraid of you just by how you treat them and would not want to be around you, A dog

social issue of animal cruelty is one that in dire need of correction. Hundreds of thousands of
animals fall victim to animal abuse each year and it has cause the animals to have health problem,
long lasting emotional effects and has left animals shelters overflowing. The issue of animal cruelty
in Ruston has lead to a variety of tragic effects. First, animal abuse can lead to health problems for
the animals. To begin with, malnourishment is a serious issue among abused animals. According to,

that fall victim to hoarding is 250,000." There are many missed placed animals that need loving
homes and shelters try to provide that for each animal. Although, when trying to achieve this goal
they often take more then they can chew. Mrs. Tempesta stated, "That the shelter often takes in more
animals then their quota allows if animals comes in critical condition." Overcrowding often leads to
a shortage in supplies for the shelters. This leads to the animals not being taken care of to the best of
their abilities once again. According to Four Paws Rescue inc, they are always looking for donations

Animal Rights And Animal Abuse
Animal rights and animal abused
William Dudley stated "Humans feel pain and have rights; Animals feel pain; Therefore, animals
have rights." Animals are unique creatures that have a right to live, especially animals are part of
nature. Although some animals are nearly extinct due to habitat destruction, for example, humans
eliminate forests to have more land or to desperately have cities. Animal rights are increasing the
support not only to help animals, to surely help the earth. Studies have developed many ways to
support animal rights; For example, many organizations such as The American Society For The
Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals, The American Humane Association, and American Anti–
Vivisection Society has given protection for animals. These organizations believe animals have
emotions and are to be treated correctly. Animals are meant to have rights and should have support.
If animals are being used as medical research, livestock, and entertainment, it will lack the number
of animals.
Scientists use mice and rats for medical research, since mice and rats are not protected under the
Animal Welfare Act regulation and the United States Department of Agriculture does not require
rodents to be registered. Also animals are used in livestock to help humans to have beneficial
products. Lastly animals are used as entertainment for example, zoos, aquarium, and horse racing.

The truth behind animal research and testing
Animal research and testing has been a huge controversial topic in the U.S. For many years, lots of
organizations like PETA have created movements to eliminate this completely but without very
much success. Personally, I can't find any positives to animal research and testing but the majority of
the U.S population does since animals are used in most major companies and research projects
performed by doctors. Animal testing should be eliminated altogether. To begin, doctors race to find
a cure to many illnesses that come up with humans. They work long and hard trying to figure out a

Most people might agree that theses three methods are more humane than others, however, they are
still not entirely a solution. Most animal research labs now a days are very secretive because of the
simple reason that many extremist act out against them in inappropriate ways. There are always
cases where people sneak into these labs and release all the animals and also destroy the property.
Even though I understand the good intentions of the people, it is not the proper way to solve this
problem. Having these labs be more secretive in fact can be worse. The people who control the
animal–testing lab will feel that if no one knows that they exist, they can do whatever they want.
They are more likely to mistreat and misuse the animals because they wont have to be worried about
abusing the law. All laboratories, if there should be any, should be highly controlled and regulated.
There should be inspectors coming in and out constantly making sure all the animals are being
treated fairly and properly. It is alarming how many well–known companies use these types of
animal laboratories just to make a bigger profit. For example, the companies that test on animals
include Vaseline, Johnson & Johnson, Neutrogena, and Cover girl. These are only some
companies. There are about thousands of companies that still test on animals. Animal testing is not
necessary to benefit the human society. There are many cheaper and faster alternative methods that

Animal Abuse Research Paper
Have you ever wondered how it's like being an abused animal? Well, it's not fun. There are so many
animals that are kept in cages, disgusting homes abandoned, and just plain ignored. Many people
don't care about their pets and they just ignore them. Those people starve, abuse, and don't care
about them. All animals need love and nurturing just like us. They live, breathe, and do just about
everything that we do. Animals need respect just as much as us. Most people just neglect their
animals like they are chopped liver. In some places, they keep farm animals in very small cages and
there is no space to move around. All of those animals deserve running out in a field and grazing.
Those people don't care about all of the animals. When an animal comes from a shelter, they expect
better than they were in the shelter. Many people are against animal cruelty like me, but some

Every day in the United States animals are beaten, neglected, and forced to struggle for survival.
They are left in horrible conditions, ones without any food and or water. Some are lucky, they are
found and rescued, being given a chance to survive by being cared for in a shelter or even given a
new home. But others, aren't so lucky. We must fight for these animals' rights and punish the
heartless owners. Its up to us to speak up for these creatures who don't have a voice. The first step,
protecting them and creating effective laws. There are actually two categories: passive cruelty and

Animal Abuse And Neglect
Animal abuse is defined as either the physical mistreatment of an animal or neglect where the
animal is denied basic necessities of care. The mistreatment of animals is a serious issue within
society. It often goes unreported because many people believe it is only abuse if it is intentional.
This lack of understanding allows minor cases of neglect to progress into major cases that can end in
the death of the animals involved. Animal abuse needs a better definition due to the results of
neglect, psychological issues, and ethical components. Many cases of animal abuse are unintentional
ones. These are cases of neglect. Animal neglect is when an animal is being denied one of its basic
necessities to live. Neglect often comes from a place of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two basic causes to most mental disorders, genetics and environmental factors. Neglect
can end up being the environmental factor that causes an animal to develop a mental or behavioral
disorder. Now is when the question arises, do animals even have the capacity to develop mental
illnesses? Well, according to numerous veterinarians and scientists, the answer to that is a
resounding yes. Many vets are diagnosing animals with depression and giving dogs with separation
anxiety xanax prescriptions, and it is working. These animals who are being diagnosed and treated
for their mental illnesses are making complete 180 degree turns towards being healthy and happy
again. So the negative effects that neglect has on the health of animals is real. If the animals are not
catching diseases from unkempt pens, they are developing mental illnesses from the isolation of
being alone in a cage all day. While the unintentional abuse of animals is sad and disheartening, the
intentional abuse of animals is downright infuriating for most. The intentional abuse of animals is
defined as an intentional infliction of harm or suffering on an animal. An example of this would be
when the weird kid down the road hangs his neighbor's cat from a tree by its back foot and beats it
with a baseball bat. This form of abuse comes from a completely different place than its counterpart.

Animal Abuse And Animal Neglect
When one discusses the topic of animal abuse, normally domestics such as cats and dogs come to
one's mind. However, farm animals and livestock also suffer from animal abuse and neglect. In
many rural places of southeast Ohio, cases of animal neglect go unseen or ignored. Cows, pigs,
chickens, and other stock animals do not receive proper food, water, and vet care. However, the
community can change the lives of these animals for the better if they implement change. Education
and awareness need to be spread through the community and then through the action of reporting it
to the proper authorities, the animals will get a better life. How would one describe animal neglect?

Lastly, the consumers of the meat or products are affected by the animals if they were not in perfect
health. On the topic of healthy animals, Laura Childs, the author of The Joy of Keeping Farm
Animals describes, "buying healthy animals, keeping their bedding clean, feeding quality hay,
providing clean water, and adhering to a veterinary–approved vaccination schedule" will lead to
healthy animals and then to healthy meat and healthy people (2010, p. 200). Imagine the quality of
meat that would come from an animal that does receive one or more of these necessary components.
Through education and awareness, animal neglect can become a past memory for all farms.
Stockmen, farmers, and everyone else are the cause of the neglect found on farms. In their article
that was published by the American Society of Animal Science, Stull and Holcomb explain, "owner
ignorance, economic hardship, and lack of responsibility were the highest ranked causes of neglect
and cruelty cases" (2014, p. 2348). This meaning that some farmers chose to ignore the problems
their animals are experiencing. Some can just not afford to keep the proper care for their animals,
"economic hardship was ranked first for causes of neglect" (Hull and Holcomb, 2014, p. 2348).
Intentional or not, there are no excuses for the abandonment of animals and the community needs to

It is very hard for zoos to replicate the natural environment that the animal is used to living in.
Capturing animals is cruel no matter the reason. Animals have their own rights, and animals have
their own lives while they're out in the wild. Capturing these animals destroys their way of life. "For
example elephants travel long distances in the wild in large groups that is their way of life. When
elephants are in a zoo, they can't travel long distances, in fact, the amount they can move can barely
be named as worthy of travel." (List of Pros and Cons of Zoos). Experts, scientists, and researchers
who study elephants in the wild strongly opposed a similar capture in 2003, stating, Taking
elephants from the wild is not only traumatic for them, it is also detrimental to their health. We
believe the time has come to consider them as sentient beings and not as so much money on the hoof
to be captured and sold and displayed for our own use. (Zoos: Pitiful

"Sadly animal abuse and neglect is a continuing problem in Connecticut as it is nationwide"
("Animal Abuse and Neglect" 1). Animals are abused and neglected every day. Having an animal
and being able to take care of it are big responsibilities. Animals do not deserve to be kicked or hit.
When abusing an animal think of yourself, would you like to be abused? Of course not. Nobody,
including animals would like to abused or neglected. Animals cannot tell someone how they feel or

There could be stricter laws against committing this crime. After abusing or neglecting an animal, a
person should have to take classes. These classes can include on how to care, and what an animal
needs. A person can also have to do community service, jail time, and pay fines. All of those would
depend on the severity. If the crime committed is not severe, they should be able to keep the animal.
Only if these people take the classes, and have random house checks. These checks would include
seeing where the animal living conditions, if they look healthy, and that all their vet checks are up to

Animals have been with us for many years, helping us with important tasks and even just being
there as a friendly companion to ease the pain of the difficult times in life. It's incredible how much
of an impact pets have engraved in our daily lives, and they are greatly appreciated in all our hearts.
It is important that these animals are respected and are given the love and care that they need as
well, though this needs to happen there are still people out there who take animals for granted.
Abusers are unfortunately very common, and it is so greatly common it goes down to 5 animals

Though it has been overlooked on animals' involvement within this industry and how they are
treated behind the scenes. Dog raceing is a popular sport to the point that people who attend bet
money on who's the winner. Yet when you attend one of these and you see one of these animals, that
you paid the see , running as fast as it can. Now it would seem unfair though to subject these
animals in these conditions? Unlike humans, animals can't choose if they want to take part or not.
Not to mention risks of injury, and according to an article "Grey Hound racing", a three–year–old
grey hound named LNB Night Mare was electrocuted after she collided with another dog and fell

The Dangers Of Animal Abuse
Background Research:
What is animal abuse? For starters, animal abuse is when a person inflicts suffering or harm on any
animal. Most people, all over the world own an animal; but there are still far more animals left out
on the street. Homeless animals are either left out on the streets or are "thrown" into shelters. This
became a problem because not all animals are domesticated. Animal shelters began as pounds.
"When the system began to be used to impound wandering dogs and cats, these animals were often
killed because little monetary value was placed on them" (Lila Miller, Animal sheltering in the
United States: Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, 1) . This issue persists because shelter workers and
others truly believe that an animal life has no value, but that is not true; animals are living beings
just like humans with brains, hearts, and bones. A reported case was that "authorities had seized 23
puppies, 11 cats, and four adult dogs from a self–processed animal "rescue" after they were found in
the "rescuer's" filthy home." ('No–Kill' Label Slowly Killing Animals, 3). This means that an
unauthorized person hoarded many animals and forced the animals into an unsafe "shelter". The
shelter being a dirty home.
Animal abuse awareness is very important because it is showing that harm to an animal is not okay,
it is a crime, and should not be taken lightly. Animals feel too, "dogs don't hide what they feel" (

"Every year in the U.S., over 25 million animals are used in biomedical experimentation, product

abuse is over looked and how many animals are affected, (and these are just of biomedical
experimented animals). If people knew more about this abuse, don't you think we could cause the
number of abused animals to drop. In order to prevent animal abuse, it is important to understand

The Invisible World of Hurt article states, "...we know that emotional harm actually hurts more than
physical harm, and that animals will "choose" physical suffering over emotional suffering, if forced
to pick. McMillan cites an experiment in which an electrified grid was placed between a puppy and
a person to whom the puppy was socially attached. The puppies crossed the grid, despite being
shocked the entire way, to be reunited with their social contact" ("The Invisible World of Hurt").
This tells you how, even though mental abuse is not commonly looked at, it is worse than any other
kind of hurt to animals. The Seattle Animal Shelter informs us that, "Torment need not be physical
in nature; an animal can be tormented by baiting or teasing, or a pattern of intimidation by yelling or
threatening physical harm" ("Animal Abuse and Neglect"). So abuse isn't just visible to the eye like
some may think, abuse comes in all sorts of ways mentally and people need to recognize this. A
third article told us that "Animals in labs suffer not only pain from protocols, but also severe stress
from day–to–day laboratory life. They spend their lives in barren cages, unable to make choices or
express natural behaviors. Most never experience fresh air or sunshine, only bars and concrete"
("Harm and Suffering"). These animals are not only constantly abuse physically, as some people see,
but also constantly abused mentally. But because this is for medical research, nobody makes an

American Animal Abuse
Three out of five households in America own a pet. Now imagine one of those poor little puppies or
kittens getting beaten, malnourished, or even getting trained to fight. Animal abuse is a serious
crime. Regardless if it is a domestic animal or not, it should get treated like one. Animal abuse
occurs everywhere and people do it because they are not scared of the punishment for doing it.
Studies have shown that people that abuse animals are more likely to harm or kill people. Something
should be done about this serious issue in society. In order to reduce the amount of animal abuse,
law makers should increase punishments for abusing animals.

That is exactly what Tibor R. Machan thinks. He states, "Could animals have guilt, be blamed, feel
regret and remorse, or apologize, or anything on that order? No, and why so, that was the gist of my
theory: They are not moral agents like us, not even the great apes " (Miller 62). Mr. Machan is
stating that the human race is superior. Rights are designed for humans and nothing else. The view
that Mr. Machan has is one that has animals as resources. Miller says " The fundamental wrong is
the system that allows us to view animals as our resources, here for us– to be surgically
manipulated, or exploited for sport or money" (Miller 32). People need to learn how to fight the
system. Animals are not here for us to experiment on, or use as entertainment that puts their lives at
risk. They deserve rights, this is why the system needs to be fixed, and PAWS can do that. Miller
admits, that animals lack many of the abilities that we posses. But why should that change anything ,
Miller says " Animals cannot read, do higher mathematics, build a bookcase, or make baba
ghanoush. Neither can many humans, and yet we don't say that these humans therefore have less
inherent value, or have less of a right to be treated with respect" (Miller 33). Animals cannot do any
of the things that Miller said, but neither can a lot of people. Yet these people still have the rights
that the doctors, or professors have. So why shouldn't animals get these right too, and that is where
PAWS comes into play. It will grant those animals the rights that they deserve. McDonald, from The
Florida Bar Journal, when asked what she thought about animal abuse said this, "Animal cruelty,
abuse, neglect, abandonment, and hoarding, whether designated as felony or misdemeanor crime or
civilly prosecuted after confiscation, affect society " (McDonald 31). These crimes need to stop, one

Animal testing can cause animals stress, sterility and boredom which will then cause some animals
to develop abnormal behaviors such constantly spinning in circles and rocking back and forth. Some
animals might start pulling out their own hair and biting their skin. The animals shake and cower in
fear whenever someone walks past their cages touched by the human. After encountering life of
pain, loneliness and terror, more than likely all of the animals will die. Puppy mills are legal but can
still be classified as animal abuse, which is illegal. Puppies are kept in tight wire cages in the worst
conditions. In the small wire cages puppies will end up getting hurt, maybe just a scratch or maybe
losing a paw because of the holes and sharp wires on the floor. The puppies receive no medical care

Animal Abuse: An Incident Of Animal Cruelty
What would you do if you witnessed an incident of animal abuse? Most of you would probably do
nothing. (Point through the audience). Every day in the united states animals are beaten, neglected
or forced to struggle for survival. They are left in unsanitary conditions with no food or water, and
they have little hope as they live out their days without the compassion, love and respect they
deserve. Animal cruelty is more then what you may think, animal cruelty consists of passive cruelty
and active cruelty. Passive cruelty consists of omission, meaning abuse happens as a result of
neglect or lack of attention. Passive cruelty can lead to terrible pain, suffering and ultimately death.
For example starvation, dehydration, untreated infections, inadequate shelter, and failure for medical
care. Active cruelty is more well known and quite frankly very un–comforting and disturbing.
Active cruelty is often referred to as "non–accidental injury (hand gesture quotations). This is when

Animal Abuse Unfortunately today there are many cases of animal abuse happening around the
world. Animal cruelty or animal abuse can be defined as the infliction of suffering or harm upon
animals for purposes other than self–defense. There are many different types of abuse such as using
animals for research, using animals for entertainment purposes, abandoning animals to shelters, and
animal neglect. We need to raise awareness and find a solution to these issues. Animals are suffering
and we need to help them. Animal research Every year there are millions of animals killed for
scientific purposes. The reason we use animals is because they have similar organs to humans.

Sometimes these reasons can be the animal is an inconvenience to care for anymore, a sudden death
of the animal's owner, or loss of a pet friendly home. A shelter is a place that takes in animals that no
one wants anymore. Some shelters are no kill and some shelters are not. No kill shelters will try and
help animals find a new home through an adoption. Kill shelters give a short amount of time for the
owners to find their lost pets. Pets are a part of a family, they are not property. We need to prevent
abandonment through awareness. Things like foster programs can help a pet temporarily until they
can find a permanent home. This is cost effective and better for the animal. Animal Entertainment
There are many types of animals used for entertainment such as circuses, dog fighting, zoos, and
rodeos. All of these types of entertainment are not natural for these animals which is a form of
abuse. Often times they are wild animals that don't belong in cages and are not able to do things that
are in their instinct to do. This is especially true about zoos and circuses. Animals are not able to
roam free and instead kept in small cages. Even in optimal settings experts say that it is difficult to
provide for the needs of wild animals.(Lemonick) Children should learn to respect animals and not
see them as entertainment. People should only support animal free circuses and raise awareness how
animals are abused for entertainment.

Animal Abuse And Its Impact
Animal Abuse & Its Impact This project is an in depth look at animal abuse. What is animal abuse?
Animal abuse is defined as either the physical mistreatment of an animal or neglect where the
animal is denied basic necessities of care. The mistreatment of animals is a serious issue in society.
It often goes unreported because many people believe it is only abuse if it is intentional. This lack of
understanding allows minor cases of neglect to progress into major cases that can end in the death of
the animals involved. Many cases of animal abuse are unintentional ones. These are cases of
neglect. Animal neglect is when an animal is being denied one of its basic necessities to live.
Neglect often comes from a place of misinformation or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neglect can end up being the environmental factor that causes an animal to develop a mental or
behavioral disorder. Now is when the question arises, do animals even have the capacity to develop
mental illnesses? Well, according to numerous veterinarians and scientists, the answer to that is a
resounding yes. Many vets are diagnosing animals with depression and giving dogs with separation
anxiety xanax prescriptions, and it is working. These animals who are being diagnosed and treated
for their mental illnesses are making complete 180 degree turns towards being healthy and happy
again. So the negative effects that neglect has on the health of animals is real. If the animals are not
catching diseases from unkempt pens, they're developing mental illnesses from the isolation of
being alone in a cage all day. While the unintentional abuse of animals is sad and disheartening, the
intentional abuse of animals is downright infuriating for most. The intentional abuse of animals is
defined as an intentional infliction of harm or suffering on an animal. An example of this would be
when the weird kid down the road hangs his neighbor 's cat from a tree by its back foot and beats it
with a baseball bat. This form of abuse comes from a completely different place than its counterpart.
While unintentional abuse comes from a place of ignorance, this form comes from a place of cruelty.
Many people believe that those who harm animals

Abuse Of Animals In Namit Arora's On Eating Animals
What is it that makes a difference between a dog and a cow? Or maybe a cat and a pig? It's viewed
as unethical to eat your dog or cat, however it is perfectly okay to eat a cow or pig. In the startling
article written by Namit Arora, she shows the truth how animals are raised for the slaughterhouse.
Almost every family in the United States has raised an animal at some point in their lives and must
watch them grow and pass on, however, no one stops and considers what it is like for the animals
that are not raised as pets but for the tightly wrapped meat that is sold at markets. In recent years,
farm animals have went from animals grazing in a pasture to fattened pieces of meat going through
an assembly line full of enhancements. Pulling at the strings of our hearts, Arora brings the truth
about these animals' lives to light. It poses the question, is the sacrifice and abuse of these animals
worth the meat from their body? Showing her disgusted view on the matter, Arora shows the truth
behind the slaughterhouse to those who fail to see and pushes the reader to see how the situation
really is.
When beginning the Article, "On Eating Animals," Namit Arora connects with the audience by using
a story about a cow that was given the name Molly, and "was sent to a nearby farm to live out her
days grazing under open skies..." (Arora). The story is used to grab the attention of the audience and

Animal Abuse And Human Abuse
For years people have been abusing animals. So much so, that there are commercials and
organizations dedicated to stopping the abuse of animals. It seems like everyday we turn on the
news and hear stories of a person burning a kitten or someone shooting a puppy, but why do these
people feel the need to do that to these helpless animals? Is there something deeper than just animal
abuse? The types of animal abuse these helpless victim faces are similar to the same type of abuse
children face. Animals are sexually abused, physically abused, neglected and even psychologically
abused, but it does not seem to be taken as seriously as human abuse. Domestic violence, school
shootings, murders and other forms of violence are also topics that seem to come up far too often in
everyday life. These criminals that have committed heinous crimes against humans all got their start
somewhere, and for many of them animals were where their abuses started. This paper will discuss
what animal abuse is, how animal abuse and violence are linked, how people evolve into the
criminals they are today through some sort of animal abuse, the warning signs of future abuse, and
how we can help these mentally ill individuals. Animal abuse, defined by the MSPCA, is "Cruelty to

a "man's best friend" some do not always see animals in that way. Animal abuse is an ongoing issue
all over the world. 48% of all animals are abused in the U.S. Animal abuse is portrayed in many
ways. A cat claws the carpet and it is thrown outside. A dog makes a mess and it is kicked."There are

There are different kinds of abuse so it is best to know how to detect the different kinds of abuse.
Direct harm to an animal is obvious, if the animal is acting scared towards humans and has physical
symptoms of violence then more than likely the animal has been abused. The other thing to look out

wrong doing of taking advantage in the use of human resources, and having absolutely no heart in
having a friendly companion. America's worst five states for an animal Many states in the U.S. don't

Abuse Of Zoos For Animals

  • 1. Abuse Of Zoos For Animals Zoos are Internment Camps for Animals As claimed in the LCA article, "Animals in zoos are forced to live in artificial, stressful, and downright boring conditions"(User, Super). Evidence shows time to time that animals are being affected by zoos. There are many things hidden behind the facilities, that many people do not know about. The animals are being held in conditions that no animal should ever live in. Even though some zoos do focus on helping the animals, they are not as beneficial to the animal because they are not provided with the proper care and attention they need and zoos do not try to fix their problems. Many zoo animals are not provided with the sufficient care and attention. There have been various reports of abuse and neglection toward the animals. In some cases people were able to capture videos of these terrible actions, and were able to use them as evidence to show the authorities and audience who are not aware of these atrocious events occurring. In the article,Undercover Investigations Reveal Abuse of Tiger Cubs at Roadside Zoos, the author revealed the different ways the owners of a roadside zoo would abuse the tiger cubs. For example,"At Tiger Safari,Maximus , a white tiger cub was dragged, choked, tossed and suspended by his legs and tail "(Amini). Or unless the authorities get more strict on how the zoos need to care and handle those animals, then maybe there could be a change in the lives of the animals. With research anyone can learn and educate themselves of what they can do to try to help those animals in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Intentional Animal Abuse Animal Abuse The shocking number of animal abuse cases reported every day is nothing compared to most of those which are never reported. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abusing animals is not acceptable and it is most definitely inexcusable. Laws and consequences that are more harsh should be put into place. Why should animals be treated differently? A human that abuses an animal badly on purpose, should be considered dangerous. If a person cannot act humanely towards an animal, then in reality, what's to stop them from acting like that towards a human? A person who abuses an animal is dangerous to humans and animals alike. Another valid reason to make more harsher consequences is simple. Say a person does serve his/her time in jail or pays the fine. Sure they will not be allowed to own an animal, but what's to stop them from abusing an animal again? There should be a rule in place where your on protocol and have people supervising the person to make sure that they will not abuse an animal again. Or say if they did abuse an animal again, the fine and jail time should triple or double, the person should be put into a course about animal abuse and how to treat an animal, and how bad of pain the animal goes through during abuse. Abusing an animal is like abusing a child, the child is defenseless and can not do anything to stop it. That is the same thing with an animal. What can an animal do to defend itself? Run and hide? • 11. Persuasive Essay On Animal Abuse Animals Being able to aid abused, injured, or ill animals, see the background of different animals, and witness shy, timid animals warm up to humans is one the the many amazing experiences that one gets to witness volunteering at an animal shelter. During the time I spend volunteering at the Youngwood Animals Friends Shelter I get the privilege to aid abused, injured, or ill animals. My first abused animal that I had helped was a black collie lab mix ame Tessa. Tessa was a dog who despised humans and dogs alike. She would growl, snap, bark aggressively and do all of the signs of basic signs of defense or threats.I didn't walk her because she was on the category of 'red'. Red meant that a volunteer needed special training to walk the red dogs. I am not trained to walk said red dogs but i was able to give her treats and clean her kennel. ANother dog, who's name was Cody, he was a mix of shelties and collies. Cody was surrendered by his owners due to the fact he was roaming the neighborhood underweight and has a old leg injury. The vet determined that the leg had to be amputated due to the fact that it was no use to Cody any more and was just getting in his way of a better quality of life. The day after Cody's surgery Cody walked up the two flights of steps to get into the cat wing. He was a new dog, with his injured leg amputated he was acting like the puppy he should be acting. Sadly, Cody passed was recently due to an unknown reason. He died in his sleep on his bed in his new home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But if humans would just take a little more precaution in the person and get to know the buyer then more than likely you will see their true identity within that time and you can decide on wether you think it is a good or bad idea to sell your animal to that person. There is a particular story told by a website called Animal Abuse and it tells a story of a pit bull named Oogy. The pit bull was one night thrown out as bait for another pit bull as practice before its fight. As Oogy was left there to die cops raided the house and immediately took Oogy to the animal hospital. As bad as the doctors wanted to save the poor dog it looked as if he was not going to make it through the surgery. The dog had lost a lot of blood and had his whole ear bitten off and some of his jaw taken off. But somehow he did, he made it through surgery. As a young man and his son came in with their 15 year old cat they saw the dog and instantly fell in love with the dog. They recalled it as if the dogs sent them a million kisses in that moment. The family later took the dog in and loved it as their own and took very good care of it – enough care to where it even learned to trust again, although it would have flashbacks. Once the father was kicking a stone off of their patio and as the dog saw the kicking motion he rushed back in the house and sat in the corner with fear in his eyes until he was soothed. Another ... Animal domestication benefits most countries because it helps them farm, grow food, and get materials. In Syria, Asia, and Europe pigs were utilized more in settled farming communities than in nomadic groups because they are difficult to move for long distance. One reason animals are domesticated is for their hides and their fur, which provides materials for shelter. Hides are used in teepees as well, while hair is used for plaster. Animals are unique creatures that have a right to live, especially animals are part of nature. Although some animals are nearly extinct due to habitat destruction, for example, humans eliminate forests to have more land or to desperately have cities. Animal rights are increasing the support not only to help animals, to surely help the earth. Studies have developed many ways to support animal rights; For example, many organizations such as The American Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals, The American Humane Association, and American Anti– Vivisection Society has given protection for animals. These organizations believe animals have emotions and are to be treated correctly. Animals are meant to have rights and should have support. Even though I understand the good intentions of the people, it is not the proper way to solve this problem. Having these labs be more secretive in fact can be worse. The people who control the animal–testing lab will feel that if no one knows that they exist, they can do whatever they want. They are more likely to mistreat and misuse the animals because they wont have to be worried about abusing the law. All laboratories, if there should be any, should be highly controlled and regulated. There should be inspectors coming in and out constantly making sure all the animals are being treated fairly and properly. It is alarming how many well–known companies use these types of animal laboratories just to make a bigger profit. Neglect can end up being the environmental factor that causes an animal to develop a mental or behavioral disorder. Now is when the question arises, do animals even have the capacity to develop mental illnesses? Well, according to numerous veterinarians and scientists, the answer to that is a resounding yes. Many vets are diagnosing animals with depression and giving dogs with separation anxiety xanax prescriptions, and it is working. These animals who are being diagnosed and treated for their mental illnesses are making complete 180 degree turns towards being healthy and happy again. So the negative effects that neglect has on the health of animals is real. If the animals are not catching diseases from unkempt pens, they are developing mental illnesses from the isolation of being alone in a cage all day. Imagine the quality of meat that would come from an animal that does receive one or more of these necessary components. • 43. The Dangers Of Animal Abuse Background Research: What is animal abuse? For starters, animal abuse is when a person inflicts suffering or harm on any animal. Most people, all over the world own an animal; but there are still far more animals left out on the street. Homeless animals are either left out on the streets or are "thrown" into shelters. This became a problem because not all animals are domesticated. Animal shelters began as pounds. "When the system began to be used to impound wandering dogs and cats, these animals were often killed because little monetary value was placed on them" (Lila Miller, Animal sheltering in the United States: Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, 1) . This issue persists because shelter workers and others truly believe that an animal life has no value, but that is not true; animals are living beings just like humans with brains, hearts, and bones. A reported case was that "authorities had seized 23 puppies, 11 cats, and four adult dogs from a self–processed animal "rescue" after they were found in the "rescuer's" filthy home." ('No–Kill' Label Slowly Killing Animals, 3). This means that an unauthorized person hoarded many animals and forced the animals into an unsafe "shelter". The shelter being a dirty home. No, and why so, that was the gist of my theory: They are not moral agents like us, not even the great apes " (Miller 62). Mr. Machan is stating that the human race is superior. Rights are designed for humans and nothing else. The view that Mr. Machan has is one that has animals as resources. Miller says " The fundamental wrong is the system that allows us to view animals as our resources, here for us– to be surgically manipulated, or exploited for sport or money" (Miller 32). People need to learn how to fight the system. Animals are not here for us to experiment on, or use as entertainment that puts their lives at risk. They deserve rights, this is why the system needs to be fixed, and PAWS can do that. Miller admits, that animals lack many of the abilities that we posses. But why should that change anything , Miller says " Animals cannot read, do higher mathematics, build a bookcase, or make baba ghanoush. Neither can many humans, and yet we don't say that these humans therefore have less inherent value, or have less of a right to be treated with respect" (Miller 33). Animals cannot do any of the things that Miller said, but neither can a lot of people. Yet these people still have the rights that the doctors, or professors have. So why shouldn't animals get these right too, and that is where PAWS comes into play. It will grant those animals the rights that they deserve. In the startling article written by Namit Arora, she shows the truth how animals are raised for the slaughterhouse. Almost every family in the United States has raised an animal at some point in their lives and must watch them grow and pass on, however, no one stops and considers what it is like for the animals that are not raised as pets but for the tightly wrapped meat that is sold at markets. In recent years, farm animals have went from animals grazing in a pasture to fattened pieces of meat going through an assembly line full of enhancements. Pulling at the strings of our hearts, Arora brings the truth about these animals' lives to light. It poses the question, is the sacrifice and abuse of these animals worth the meat from their body? Showing her disgusted view on the matter, Arora shows the truth behind the slaughterhouse to those who fail to see and pushes the reader to see how the situation really is. When beginning the Article, "On Eating Animals," Namit Arora connects with the audience by using a story about a cow that was given the name Molly, and "was sent to a nearby farm to live out her days grazing under open skies..."
