Welcome and Thank you for blood donation. Cut job search time significantly
Now tell MANHOLE story.
There are a lot of good reasons to network â in addition to cutting your search time down. 25 million jobs never get posted. Thereâs only one way to access them. NETWORK! NEXT: So letâs start tonight with some good ole fashioned hi-touch introductions. Please find a partner âŠ
After they share with one another, bring them back to large group. Write a few of their goals for the night on the BOARD. Share what we can/canât do. NEXT: What goals we can achieve tonight.
Hi-Touch is all about showing up in a present, conscious, personalized way. Itâs about follow-through online and off. Itâs the old-fashioned things. Thank you notes, face-to-face meetings, real conversations. Showing up in this way will ignite your network in a whole new way. Theyâll be energized by your energy and focus. And your network will grow. I want you to feel more comfortable with explaining who you are â your brand. And walk away more connected tonight! NEXT: So letâs do an exercise around your âpositioning statement.â First, Iâll tell you what weâll be doing. Then Iâll tell you exactly what it is and give you an example.
Point of exercise â we do this all the time. We just donât usually consciously think about how to present it strategically. Ask the person to tell you back what you said. Did they get it right? Is this what you want them to walk away with given your audience? Did you give them your business card or ask for theirs? NEXT: But itâs a critical first step in the networking process.
NEXT: Whatâs in it. Hereâs an example âŠ
NEXT: You can see that knowing who you are and being able to share it comfortably and concisely is important. And itâs not easy. So letâs take a step back and find how this becomes easier for people. Letâs look at a career planning model as a starting point.
NEXT: Letâs assume for tonight that you know yourself really well and youâre ready to find work. I find people make one key error at this point. They arenât always clear about whether theyâre still in the âResearch Optionsâ stage or if theyâre in the ACT stage of networking. So let me define the differences because it will make a big difference in your exchanges. I want to highlight this.
Subtle difference, but itâs key. Your audience wonât be confused if you know where you stand. NEXT: What these conversations are about at a deeper level.
What we mean by this is everything is connected. You donât know where one experience or one unplanned meeting will lead. Look for the synergy of what youâre doing. Keep following the opportunities âtil they lead somewhere. Things can pop up months later, when you least expect it, if you stay connected. Remember, itâs not only a concept, but itâs a lifestyle. The Valley is a pretty independent kind of place â letâs build community!
Whereâs the synergy? Of your ONLINE and OFFLINE activities? Whereâs the thread? Follow it in a quality, personalized, HI-TOUCH way â and your process will build and deepen. It may seem time-consuming, difficult, but itâs the new work & life paradigm. So ease into it. AND Linkedin makes it so much easier. Just make those interactions hi-touch â and ideally, have them lead to offline (in-person) conversations. NEED HELP WITH LINKEDIN â PLEASE SCHEDULE A 30 MINUTE SESSION WITH US. NEXT: Letâs look at Planned Happenstance a little more deeply. Youâll see you do it all the time.
We need a âplanâ to act on planned happenstance! It is a conscious, purposeful and ongoing process. NEXT: Letâs look at it more closely âŠ
Get Face-to-Face Be Prepared - Ready to Act - Take Initiative - Find Courage - Stay Positive - Offer Something NEXT: Show up with your BEST SELF
You had a lot more of these as a kid. Bring back that inner kid to the process. This can be fun if you know it can turn out well. Any result will be learning, growth. Weâre motivated to act when weâre in pain. Use it to your advantage. NEXT: Like a kid, BE CURIOUS!
Think about it ⊠how can you get your curiosity EXCITED? NEXT: Curiosity leads to CHANCE â to unplanned career opportunities
