Case Summary According to research conducted by the United Nations, approximately two–thirds of the world's population will face a severe shortage
of water by 2025(Shaw & Barry, 2014, pg. 131). Some countries have begun to prepare early by importing tankers of water from other countries.
The State of Michigan; however, is not as concerned about the shortage due to having over 11,000 lakes including the Great Lakes. Due to the vast
amount of water sources, Nestle has built a bottled water plant in Mecosta County, Michigan. The new plant has cost Nestle over 100 million dollars
and has caused much controversy with locals. Nestle had built a 12 mile pipeline from the plant to a local spring. Many organizations in Michigan
saw this as a huge threat to water conservation and later had resorted to suing Nestle. Lawyers from organizations such as, Michigan's Citizens for
Water Conservation and Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians had claimed that due to reasonable use and a treaty from 1836, the land was
protected from misuse of transportation of water. Michigan state judge, Lawrence Root, had bought the argument and had upheld the lawsuit. "Ruling
that the environment is at risk no matter how much water Nestle draws out, he ordered the pumps turned off"(Barry, 2014, pg. 132). Around two years

South Creek is located in Narrabeen, New South Whales, Australia, within the Warringah area. The Narrabeen basin is approximately 7km from
north to south and 7km from east to west (Entrance from Narrabean Lakes, Forest Way) (Mona Vale at Tumbledown Dick to Warringah road ). South

Eutrophication is a natural process that lakes and certain bodies of water undergo. Eutrophication happens by having a significant level of

These nutrients usually cause bodies of water to be cloudy, turbid, have a high number of primary producers, and promote the excessive growth of
algae (Koechli, 2015). This then causes the body of water to reduce its dissolved oxygen level, and dead biomass to accumulate. Although it is a
natural process, humans can affect these bodies of water by inserting a surplus of nutrients. This process is called cultural eutrophication, which is
considered a form of water pollution (Koechli, 2015). This pollution is often caused by fertilizer run–off and much more. It causes the overgrowth of

Pure Indian carp are among the most sought fish in the world, and an entire fishing market has been built around them for many centuries now. For
the most part, they are only attainable from the Halda River, which is a large yet singular source of natural carp breeding based in Bangladesh, and
all of South Asia has suffered its losses as of late to the tune of some 26 differentfish species in general–all wiped out in seven years' time by water
pollution. India has been suffering similar water pollution issues itself and has concluded that linking certain rivers may be the best way to deal with
the problem; however, new research indicates that this will have adverse effects on Indian ecosystems.
In Bangladesh, the construction of dikes and dams on either side of the Halda has contributed to the proliferation of water pollution. A sizeable
contingent of that pollution stems from the infirmed biotic community in key areas. The river itself, mind you, is exceedingly long (98 km) with a

With my headphones positioned uncomfortably in my ears, I sat slumped against my headboard. The inelegant curving of the wood dug into my
shoulders, I didn 't pay attention to the discomfort of the plastic pressing into my ears or the misshapen wood digging into my skin as my mind trailed
off with a stream of words that filled cracks and gaps like water in a dry river bed. The urge to write was tugging at the edges of my mind, but

and I was on a plane heading to Bosnia for a mission trip when the plane encountered engine problems. There were several loud booms coming from

The purpose of modeling the fate and transport of pollutants in surface water is for a better understanding of the relationship between pollutant loads
during rainfall events and to be able to simulate and make predictions of future water quality conditions. By connecting stream flow rates model to

4.3Conceptual Model
The conceptual model for this research is a network model which models the rate of flow of pollutant through a connected network of points in surface
water. The water quality monitoring stations represent such points and serve as containers. From analysis of the water quality monitoring
measurements of pollutants at each chosen station, it is observed that the concentration levels of pollutants tend to be high where it has not rained for a
long time compared to where it rained the previous day or few days ago. This then can be interpreted to mean that the concentration of pollutant in
surface water is proportional to the amount of water in the surface water body. Drought condition will concentrate the pollutants, while on the other

the temperature sensor on the side. Then hold the sensor in the stream and wait for the degree (Celsius) to appear. Record the number that appears

probe or take out and replace the sensor. Grabbing the pH sensor, you the same, hold it into the water and wait for a number to appear that has

with this plan. We then proceeded to make our way to the mountain and as we were driving upI decided to chime in and make a suggestion, saying "We
should climb up from the base of the waterfall" everybody else quickly agreed since that seemed to be a nice little leisure activity for a group of
teenagers. With the weather slowly warming melting the snow on the mountains causing water flow the scenery was just gorgeous, with many
rocks having a bright reflective look caused by the sun and water interacting. This scenery was just perfect for a climb up the fall. As we climbed
we all took notice of just how pretty the mountain was. Seeing trees, rocks, water spiders, and many other things we don't see every single day. As
we continued up the mountain we eventually got this amazing area with some more reflective brown gorgeous rocks that were similar to a bunch
of tiny steps. With all the water running down the rocks my dark brown Sperry's I decided to wear started to show why they were called "boat
shoes" this is because they were quite good at sticking to surfaces without slipping. Even though highly unorthodox with my shoes for some reason
they seemed to work quite well except for coming untied more times than I would have enjoyed. As we continued to climb we took a few group
pictures as well as making a fair amount of jokes to help ease our minds off of the physical work we were putting into climbing up this mountain.
After we climbed up for about fifteen minutes much of the rocks that had places for our feet to go into and cradle providing full support were gone
and being left with solely smooth rocks that if you wanted you could slide down with relative ease. So the rate at which we were scaling these rocks
had to slow, however not terribly but our speed was crippled by being a little more cognizant and careful. Never the less we continued to climb up,

Stoney creek is a salmon spawning stream located on Burnaby Mountain, British Columbia, Canada (The City of Burnaby, 2016). However, the site is

These characteristics involve streambed material, embeddedness, pool habtat percentage, off–channel habitat, bank stability, bank vegetation
percentage, overhead canopy and riparian zone. Certain points to note is that there is an abundant variety and amount of vegetation (such as conifers
and shrubs) surrounding the creek which provides shade, protection and their roots provide bank stability (Taccogna et al., 1995). Another point to

Narrative art tells a story through the use of images that spark imagination, evoke emotions, and capture universal cultural truths and aspirations.
Winslow Homer did just that in his most famous painting, "The Gulf Stream", from 1899. The elements of art and principles of design are impeccably
utilized by Homer in this painting and arouse all types of feelings and emotions within the viewer. I, myself, was struck with a number of emotions,

You respond differently when you can empathize with the characters. The man in the boat immediately makes me feel sad for him, and fearful of
what will happen; although his fate seems to be pretty obvious. If I put myself in his shoes, I would be terrified. However, I can also understand
his submissive attitude; whatever will be, will be. There is nothing he can do so he might as well sit back and enjoy the ride, so to speak. The boat
on the horizon is just a small glimmer of hope, but I feel like he has a better chance of drifting to land than being seen by the boat since it is so far
away. I feel like he's not left with any options. He is left to drift uncontrollably at the mercy of nature and beast. The overall mood of the painting is

Thomas Hardy 's Under The Waterfall
Thomas Hardy's "Under the Waterfall" is a poem that can be interpreted in many different ways. One cannot deny the power and influence nature
has over the two lovers. The reader can understand that a voice is evoked by a memory of having a picnic in August near a waterfall with their
romantic partner every time he or she places their hands into a pool of water or 'basin of water '. One says "he or she" because the poem does not
specifically tell the reader if it is the woman or man speaking. Hardy discusses the purity, serenity and permanence of the waterfall. Hardy establishes
the first lines: Whenever I plunge my arm, like this, In a basin of water, I never miss The sweet, sharp sense of a fugitive day Fetched back from its
thickening shroud of gray. (1–4) Already, one can gather a woman in hindsight of a moment is telling the poem in time. From this, it brings to light
straight away that she is talking about something from the past that cannot be regained or repeated. In essence, the 'fugitive ' day has escaped.
Hardy also uses an oxymoron here with 'sweet sharp ' to describe the day making clear that it was a nice delicate memory but is also a spiteful
memory (3). The word 'fugitive ' means criminal, which suggests that this memory of lovers was possibly against the law or was an affair where the
couple was rebellious (3). This supports the reason why one of the couple remembers the memory vividly: from remembering
