Human Right Campaign (HRC)
Organization Project Proposal Plan
Human Right Campaign (HRC)
The organization that I have chosen for this project proposal is
a non-profit organization based in America known as the Human
Right Campaign (HRC
). The organization operate
in the entire United States and it was founded by Steve Endean
in early 1980 as the first ever organization that advocated for
lesbian and gay rights in the United States.
Purpose for the Organization’s Existence
The organization that I have chosen for this project proposal is
a non-profit organization based in America known as the Human
Right Campaign (HRC). The
organization represents a force of 1.5 million members and
supporters nationwide campaign. It is the largest national
lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights
organization, HRC is aimed at creating a world where LGBTQ
people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open,
honest and safe at home, at work and in the community and it
has its headquarters in New York City. This organization is
committed to ensuring that all people rights are respected and
are allowed to participate in national issues irrespective of their
sexual orientation. The organization’s vision is to accept
diversity, teamwork and also to respect each other. It is one of
the organizations that have been acknowledged for their efforts
to create a conducive environment for people with different
sexual orientation at their place of work and in the global
society. The organization is not just aimed at provide and
protecting human rights but is also engaged in environmental
conservation as it conduct its awareness campaigns through
environmental conservation platforms. The purpose of the
organizations existence is not only to protect the rights of
people with different sexual orientation but also to conserve
environment and this is why it is regarded as a responsible and
environmental conscious company.
Organization of Interest
Through the years, I
have developed interest of working with an organization that
care for the rights of other people throughout America and this
was one of the motivation that pushed me to pick on the human
rights campaign organization. The company fall within what I
see as a true human rights organization despite the fact that it
confines its activities with particular realms of human right and
this is the reason I have to do a project n the company. Working
on a project on the organization will give me an opportunity to
explore the organization deeply and get a better understanding
of it organization and activities. I have encountered several
people who talked positively about the organization and this
gave more interest in the organization as I intent to know how it
performs and it achievements so far. Several studies have shown
that a successful organization must consider the interests of its
employees and provide the best services to its target group
(Ismail Al-Alawi et al., 2007). It is my thinking that HRC does
these and that is why it is regarded as one of the most
successful human rights organization in the U.S. At the heart of
my interest in the organization is given the fact that the
organization work with the society to ensure that the rights of
all people are respected. As if this is not enough, the company
also work to ensure that environment is conserved at all cost not
forgetting that it provide employment to several people in
America most of them being youths.
Project and its Relationship to the Organization’s Objectives
In this project proposal for my organization of interest HRC is
to construct a new organizational office in Philadelphia which
will provide services to people in Delaware County. The major
function of this organization is to provide services to the people
irrespective of where they are in the society. This is important
as most of the people who suffer human rights violations are in
the periphery of the large urban centers and constructing an
office for the organization in Delaware will significantly help to
ensure that the victims in the region are served timely and
effectively. It is because of this that I am of the opinion that
building a new office at Delaware is an informed decision. The
project proposal is relevant to the organizations objectives of
ensuring that all people with varied sexual orientation are
protected against human rights violation and because of this,
they have to have their presence near the potential victims.
Approved Project Proposal Plan
The project that will be implemented in this proposal is to build
new organization office in
Delaware which will help the organization to bring services to
the potential victims which is central to organizational best
practices that will lead to success. The building will have as
many offices that will include counseling, reporting, legal and
organization management office.
Project Managements
Project management is one of the factors that determine the
success completion of the project. The methodology used to
manage the project must be effective as it should be able to
identify project risks before they occur and stall the project
implementation. It is important that projects are implemented by
construction professional so that it can be termed success at the
end of the project implementation. Project management
methodology is the model that project managers use to design,
plan implement and achieve the project goals (Kim & Park,
2006). This project will use Lean Construction Management
methodology
as this will allow the project managers to asses and evaluate the
success of the project from time to time. The project will
implemented in stages and this will provide the best resources
for the project successful completion. The project will utilize
research as the main tool to understand the scope of the project.
It is also important to seek consultation from project experts so
as to understand any construction project. This project will be
done in four phases that will include, project designing,
planning, implementation and finally completion.
Project Scope and Scheduling
Understanding project scope is important as it provide the
required data to estimate the project cost and time required to
complete the project (Atkinson et al.,
2006). The scope
is also important as it provide the project planners and
designers with the information regarding the activities that will
be involved in the project and the requirements to complete the
project successfully. This project will require both financial and
human resources so as to complete it to the last part of the
project. The project will require a lot of labor force given that it
is to be implemented in the shortest time possible (Herroelen et
al., 2009
). The project will require construction materials from the
project implementation. It will also require human capital and
skills which will be vital during planning and designing stages
of the project. The project will be done in the way that it fits
the requirement of an office and therefore, high levels of skilled
manpower will be required.
As earlier discussed, the new office will be constructed to
provide services closer to the people. The activities that will be
included in the project include offices, recreation facilities and
multiple offices that will be used for different purposes
including reporting, counseling, provision of legal advice
among other activities that the organization may deem fit to be
carried out at the office (Herroelen et al., 2009). The primary
activities of the project will take at most
two months each activity taking not more than nine hours in a
single day. The activities will be done on a daily basis including
weekends.
This project will be developed in one year since it is required to
be successful at the end. The project will begin with
consultation and project evaluation which will be done in one
month. This stage is important as it will identify the best place
where the office will be built. The second stage will be project
design and planning for project implementation (Herroelen et
al., 2009). This stage will take two month as it will require wide
consultation to come up with the best design and plan for the
building. Project implementation which is largely project
construction will take eight months as this is the most crucial
stage that is labor intensive and requires step by step
implementation so that the project is successful. The project
will be done by construction companies which will itself collect
data as far as the project implementation is concerned. This is
important so that the organization can focus on its activities as
the project is implemented.

I’m not sure why you changed the project and the organization
from what was approved in Week 1. You are to use what was
approved for all remaining individual assignments. You will
need to focus on developing and implementing a new hiring
process for ACCO Brands Corporation. Have you taken this
course before? Is this your original work? I’m trying to figure
out how there could be such a jump in the topic.
I would encourage you to review this week’s reading as well. I
believe the Lewis method may help you to better understand the
phases that may be involved.
When addressing the scope, this entails more than simply what
you hope to accomplish. You need to include cost and schedule
parameters as well.
While you are on the right track with much of what was done in
the MS Project file, you need to focus on your approved project.
Might you be able to create something similar? The WBS is
going to serve as the foundation that you need to build the
schedule. Then, this is going to be helpful when you go to look
at costs later in the term. I believe you could provide more
information in your schedule specific to your project. We need
to be able to see how any slip in one activity can impact the rest
of the schedule. You need to ensure the information rolls up
correctly.

This document could use a bit of improvement relative to
organization. In the future, an introductory paragraph should be
used to introduce the reader to the task/scenario. What do you
intend to present in the paragraphs that follow? The rubric I
post each week should help you to identify the pertinent areas to
be addressed with headings as well. I would encourage you to
use a conclusion paragraph to summarize the information
presented. After all, you wouldn’t want to leave the reader
“hanging” or wondering if there might be more.

Organization and Project Plan Template Proposal
Organization and Project Plan Template Proposal
Purpose for the Organization’s Existence
The organization that I have chosen for the study is ACCO
Brands Corp. ACCO Brands Corp is a manufacturer of office
equipment with its headquarters in Lake Zurich, Illinois. The
organization offers a wide range of services such as binding and
lamination, boards and easels, laptop physical security,
notebook, planning products and presentation and storage
(Camm, 2017). The common and leading brands and products
offered by the company are; Day-Timer®, Five Star®, GBC®,
Hilroy®, Kensington®, Marbig, Mead® among others. This
organization is committed to ensuring that their customers are
all satisfied with the products that they offer to them. The
organization’s vision is to accept diversity, teamwork and also
to respect each other. It is one of the organizations that have
been recognized as a company that cares for its employees as
well as the customers. In addition to that, it has shown how it is
responsible to the environment since it has done a lot to ensure
that they reduce any environmental impact. Therefore, this
clearly shows what the purpose of the organization is. It is to
ensure that they provide the best products and render the best
services to the customers and also to promote environmental
sustainability.
Organization of Interest
Through the years, I have been having the interest to know more
about ACCO Brands Corp and that is why I have decided to do a
project proposal about it. It will help me in researching more
about it. I once had a friend who used to work there and based
on the information that he used to tell me, I gained an interest
to know about its performance, how it relates to the customers
and also to know the probability of the company. For an
organization to be successful and to produce products of good
quality, it should engage its employees and ensure that they feel
comfortable and receive some benefit. Good treatment of
employees increases the productivity of the company.
Most importantly, ACCO Brands Corp is a company that
produces office equipment that is used in many organizations
that have offices. Therefore, the products offered by the
company affect most people in the society. This implies that
there is need to analysis the company through the project
proposal so as to understand how it runs its day to day
operations before the products reach in the offices.
Project and its Relationship to the Organization’s Objectives
In this project, the topic that I will deal with is the
implementation of a new hiring process.
One of the objectives of the organization is to ensure that they
provide high-quality products. Basically, a hiring process is
important because it has a great impact on the company’s
production and performance values. Therefore, I think that
ACCO Brands Corp should implement a new hiring process to
ensure that they meet their objectives easily and prevent further
costs that may be as a result of bad hiring.
The organization’s current selection and hiring process need to
be improved so as to avoid hiring an employee who is not
competent. The integrity test that helps in assessing the
personality of an applicant can be easily manipulated. Based on
the research that has been done in the past, it was noted that the
integrity questions are easy to cheat on (Bullard, 2003)). Of
course, an employer will choose an applicant who scored the
higher scores than an applicant who scored less. When I look at
it in the other perspective, something seems amiss. This is
because; the participant who scored higher than the others may
have cheated on by filling wrong answers so as to get that
position.
ACCO Brands Corp automated its hiring process with iCIMS
talent acquisition software. As much as it sounds better and the
use of advanced technology, an applicant may manipulate the
answers since the process is automated. Therefore, I think that
ACCO Brands Corp should implement a new hiring process that
will help in doing away with the manipulation of answers and
other related problems. There are many consequences of bad
hire which in most cases have a great impact on the
organization. Job applicants may provide great information and
perform brilliantly in their test but maybe they are not the right
person to fit for the position. Therefore, this means that
sometimes, bad hire may just be unavoidable. iCIMS talent
acquisition software may sometimes need an upgrade which
makes it face some integration issues hence makes it hard for
use (Guffey, & Loewy, 2014). When this happens, it may be
frustrating. Therefore, I think that ACCO Brands Corp should
implement new hiring process.
The use of iCIMS for hiring can make the company face a
decrease in applications. This is because the job postings may
not be cross-posted to job boards. ACCO Brands Corp being one
of the largest suppliers of its products should choose employees
who have skills in that particular field so as to continue
producing better products with high quality.
The hiring process is a great determinant of the productivity of
a company (Bullard, 2003). Therefore, there is a need for ACCO
Brands Corp to implement the new hiring process so as to
ensure that they get competent employees who are able to
utilize the available resources to improve the productivity of the
company. ACCO Brands Corp is a company that has great
potential in becoming a leading company in the office products.
This is mainly because it has products that are known by many
consumers. The company recorded 26.44 % in the earnings
growth as at September in the year 2017 compared to 12.01%
which was recorded in the year 2016. This shows that the
company has much potential in growing.
However, its existing hiring process is not fully effective and
therefore, reaching the best candidates in the recruitment
process becomes difficult. In addition, the iCIMS hiring
approach used by the company could be lowering staff morale.
A bad hire is likely to cause a negative attitude towards work
(Guffey, & Loewy, 2014). This may easily lead to potentially
affect employees from working in the organization for a long
time. Holding talented employees for a long time in an
organization is very important because it enables an
organization to fully know understand about these employees.
Therefore, the organization can put the employees under
working conditions which fit with these employees and
therefore improving productivity becomes easy.
In addition, ACCO Brands Corporation needs to implement an
effective hiring process.
The use of iCIMS is more expensive because there are monetary
costs incurred when the company losses an employee especially
the talented employees. Therefore, the company must spend
more in getting other employees which reduce its profitability.
ACCO Brands Corporation has been using e-recruitment
(iCIMS) for a long time and therefore it’s important for the
organization to try implementing a new recruitment process.
This will help to reduce monetary costs and also improve its
productivity by reaching the most competent employees.
Therefore, the project will help the organization in improving
the quality of the products of offers and hence increasing its
productivity.
In 2016, ACCO Brands Corp recorded a revenue increase of
3.09%. The office equipment industry has been growing for the
past years at a higher level. Therefore, due to this, ACCO
Brands Corp should have recorded a higher increase in the
revenue. However, the
company is not able to express its full potential because its
employees are not able to fully improve the productivity.
Implementing a new hiring process is a good measure towards
increasing the revenue recorded by the company.

I think you have a great idea in developing and implementing a
new hiring process for ACCO Brands Corporation.
In looking over the material, the one area that I would have
liked to know more about is the organizational data readily
available. If there are web sites that you will be using, I was
looking for them to be clearly identified as well as the types of
organizational data you would find. After all, I want the
research to be done as opposed to me doing to research to find
out for myself.
I did not see where you included a project management plan
template. I have no problem with you using the template as
suggested in class. Just remember, the template is ONLY going
to serve as a guide as to the types of information you might find
in various sections. This is why I made the suggestion in class
that I did. You are not going to actually populate this template,
but you will complete several sections in preparing your own
project plan. All documents for this class are to be in APA
format.

Organization Project Proposal Plan Part 2
Project budget Comment by Carol: Have you reviewed my
earlier comments? You are to begin with the title as it appears
on the cover page. The title is not to be in bold per APA
guidelines. Then, you are to proceed with an introductory
paragraph. What do you intend to present? You would also
need to identify your specific project so the reader would
understand how you are applying the various topics to your
project.
The project budget is an extensive estimate of all the total
financial cost required to complete a particular project. This
budget is inclusive of cost of materials, labor costs, operational
cost and any bother direct cost that is involved in the project at
hand. The main aim of a project budget is to provide the
sponsor with the correct anticipated cost to complete the project
(Diab, Varma & Panthi, 2017). The project budget also enables
to track if the financial success of the project. Project manager,
sponsors, and the project team are the people greatly involved
in the project begetting. In this case, the project that will be
implemented in this proposal is to build new organization office
in Delaware which will help the organization to bring services
to the potential victims which are central to organizational best
practices that will lead to success. Comment by Carol: I am
looking for you to distinguish between a labor and a capital
budget. I’ll read on to find out more. Comment by Carol:
The same font and font size should be used throughout.
Comment by Carol: Enables who or what to track? Proper
grammar is to be used throughout. Comment by Carol: The
project manager… Comment by Carol: ?? Comment by
Carol: No. You are to use the project topic that was approved
in Week 1. You are to focus on developing and implementing a
new hiring process.
The building will have as many offices that will include
counseling, reporting, legal and organization management
office. Construction of that kind of an office requires extensive
research before the projects start to ensure that the financial
resources used are not wasted at the end. The construction of
this office which is estimated to hold about four departments to
ensure the clients in Delaware community enjoy the service of
HRC is estimated to cost over $130 per square foot. The office
is estimated to occupy a two-story building with a total of
100000 squares foot. Therefore the total cost estimated for this
project is close to $13,000,000.this cost if inclusive of the
construction material, subcontractors, architectures, civil
engineers, mechanical engineers, excavators, furniture’s,
government regulations among others. In this project proposal
for my organization of interest, HRC is to construct a new
organizational office in Philadelphia which will provide
services to people in Delaware County we decided to use the
available resource of our subcontractor by the name Premium
Quality Construction located in Philadelphia. By choosing this
company was to get a 5% discount on the total estimated cost of
the project. Comment by Carol: You are not permitted to
change project topics at this point. You will want to focus your
individual assignments on what was approved.Comment by
Carol: How did you arrive at this cost? I did not see a MS
Project file included with your submission.
Labor budget of the project Comment by Carol: Each key
word in a level one heading is to begin with a capital letter per
APA guidelines.
This is the number of labor hours required to complete a
project. Labor cost management defines a project, forecasting,
budgeting and managing other cost is easy, but when it comes to
labor, it’s what makes the project succeed better work force will
eventually result to a successful project (Epstein & Shapiro,
2017). On the other hand, poorly motivated and underproductive
workforce will make the project fail. Regarding that the longer
the crew works, the higher the costs and therefore effort should
be done in reducing the working hours to avoid excess use of
finances. With the help of the project manager and a team of the
project management, we came up with the estimated cost for
this office construction project. Comment by Carol: What is
the number of hours? The number of hours is only one variable
used to calculate the labor budget.
Unit pricing from estimate (materials and labor) = $40,000.
Comment by Carol: I need for you to clearly identify who
is completing each activity in your schedule (which was to be
started last week). Then, you would need to explain the
calculations performed to arrive at these numbers.
Material costs from vendor quote = $15,000 Comment by
Carol: If material costs are here, then why are they also
included in your capital budget? Further clarification is needed.
Labor budget = (Unit pricing – Materials) = $34,000
Average burdened labor rate = $20/hour
Labor hours = $34,000/$20 = 1300 hours.
Capital budget
This is the process of allocating finances to the various areas as
required to complete the project. In this project, we allocated
funds to the construction of the project as follow; Comment by
Carol: There is a bit more to distinguishing between a capital
and a labor budget. Might you elaborate?
Construction material $2450000
Furniture’s $260000
Architects $100000

Excavators $2300000
Total costs $13000000
Scope and schedule of the project labor and capital
Understanding project labor and capital scope are important as
it provides the required data to estimate the project cost and
time required to complete the project. The scope is also
important as it provides the project planners and designers with
the information regarding the activities that will be involved in
the project and the requirements to complete the project
successfully. This office construction project was planned to
take the shortest time possible so that victims can access the
services as soon as possible.
A lot of labor and material are required for the successful
completion of the project but still to complete it is limited. It
will also require human capital and skills which will be vital
during the planning and design stages of the project. The project
will be done in the way that it fits the requirement of an office
and therefore, high levels of skilled manpower will be required.
With this consideration with hired a time manager who designed
the best time frame to complete this project. This project will be
developed in one year since it is required to be successful at the
end. The project will begin with consultation and project
evaluation which will be done in one month. This stage is
important as it will identify the best place where the office will
be built. The second stage will be project design and planning
for project implementation.is was assumed that in that one year
only the estimated budget of $130,000,000 would be used with
no other cost though we had a contingency plan in place in case
of any eventualities.
Risk management plan
In any project management, there must be anticipations that
something may go wrong and this makes a project successful.
Solid project risk management practices should be taken to
deliver the project in the stipulated timeframe (Klakegg, 2016).
Proactive risk management allows a project manager to optimize
project results by implementing proven tools to plan for both
threats and opportunities. For this project, we came up with a
risk management plan which included the following steps.
Comment by Carol: …wrong, and
Run-on sentences can be corrected with the appropriate use of
punctuation or by creating multiple smaller sentences.
Comment by Carol: Writing in the first person is
discouraged. Writing in the third person is preferred. APA
guidelines apply.
Identify risk and consequences: we formed groups and discussed
the potential risk that may arise in the course of the project
implementation. We also pointed out if the risk could affect the
schedule and resourcing of constructing the office. Comment by
Carol: What are some specific risks associated with developing
and implementing a new hiring process for ACCO Brands?
The probability of the risk was occurring: we were able to
assess the percentage in risks occurring that would affect the
office construction.
Impact of the risk: we discussed the potential impact if any risk
occurred during the project implementation and we noted the
possible scale since the office construction was a large project
and a lot of resources were involved compared to other smaller
projects.
Prioritizing the risk for mitigation: After identifying the
potential risks, we planned for mitigation depending on the
severity to the office construction project in case it occurred
during the one year of the project process.
Mitigation of the risk: we came up with the steps of eliminating
the risk. We put aside about $2000000 to cater for any
budgetary allocation that may necessitate addition during the
implementation. For example, the price of construction material
may rise due to dollar pressure.
Internal and external risks and their respective contingency
budget plans
Internal risks are the risks that are faced by any company based
on its internal organization occurring from its day today’s
operations. These risks can be avoided by having better
management in the company (Nicholas & Steyn, 2017. In our
office construction project example of an internal risk, we
identified was that some of the internal project managers were
not competent in the construction industry to oversee this big
project. We then came up with extra $25000 contingency fund
to hire a new project manager to assist in the project
management. Comment by Carol: What is the risk? Do you
know the difference between a risk and a risk factor? A risk is
what might happen.
External risks: this is the risks that face an organization, but
they are beyond their control. In our project, we discovered one
external risk which was the current political stalemate that made
the dollar weaken. This could directly affect the cost of office
construction materials making the price to rise. In response to
these risks, we developed a contingency budget plan of setting
aside $1200, 000 to supplement the estimated budget in case of
such occurrences. Comment by Carol: How did you arrive at
this number?
Reference Comment by Carol: Were our assigned readings of
any value?

You are not to change project topics from what was approved in
Week 1. I believe you initially talked about developing and
implementing a new hiring process. I expect to see that project
being used as a basis for the completion of your Weeks 1-4
Individual Assignments. You need to be able to apply what you
are learning in the assigned reading to this project.
While you may have a clear understanding of what is required
for a budget, I didn’t see it being reflected in this work.
Further clarification is needed. For instance, how do you
distinguish between a labor and a capital budget? Even if one
understands how to calculate labor costs, this needs to “marry”
with the many activities in the schedule (submitted last week).
Each activity should have an associated cost. I noticed you
including material costs under both the labor and the capital
budgets. I did not see where a schedule was included. Without
knowing the costs for each activity, how did you arrive at the
numbers you did?
By looking at the costs as they relate to each activity, I believe
we get a more clear and accurate picture. In putting together
your schedule, you would want to ensure you didn’t have the
overlap over resources as time may be a constraint. People
typically will only work 40 hours per week. If you have one
person assigned to work on multiple activities which would
require more than 40 hours per week for that one person, it
could pose a problem.
I did not see where you truly addressed risks for a project. I
want to see specifics. Do you understand the difference
between a risk and a risk factor? Sometimes we plan to avoid a
risk, but it could occur despite our best planning. If any risks
were to occur on your project, what impact would it have to
your budget? Again, we would likely want to look back at our
schedule and the many activities required to get a more clear
picture.

In the future, an introductory paragraph should be used to
introduce the reader to the task/scenario. The document started
out without any mention of what the actual project entailed. I
would encourage you to use a conclusion paragraph to
summarize the information presented. After all, you wouldn’t
want to leave the reader “hanging” or wondering if there might
be more.

The organization represents a force of 1.5 million members and supporters nationwide campaign. It is the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization, HRC is aimed at creating a world where LGBTQ people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community and it has its headquarters in New York City. This organization is committed to ensuring that all people rights are respected and are allowed to participate in national issues irrespective of their sexual orientation. The organization’s vision is to accept diversity, teamwork and also to respect each other. It is one of the organizations that have been acknowledged for their efforts to create a conducive environment for people with different sexual orientation at their place of work and in the global society. The organization is not just aimed at provide and protecting human rights but is also engaged in environmental conservation as it conduct its awareness campaigns through environmental conservation platforms. The purpose of the
  • 3. organizations existence is not only to protect the rights of people with different sexual orientation but also to conserve environment and this is why it is regarded as a responsible and environmental conscious company. Organization of Interest Through the years, I have developed interest of working with an organization that care for the rights of other people throughout America and this was one of the motivation that pushed me to pick on the human rights campaign organization. The company fall within what I see as a true human rights organization despite the fact that it confines its activities with particular realms of human right and this is the reason I have to do a project n the company. Working on a project on the organization will give me an opportunity to explore the organization deeply and get a better understanding of it organization and activities. I have encountered several people who talked positively about the organization and this gave more interest in the organization as I intent to know how it performs and it achievements so far. Several studies have shown that a successful organization must consider the interests of its employees and provide the best services to its target group (Ismail Al-Alawi et al., 2007). It is my thinking that HRC does these and that is why it is regarded as one of the most successful human rights organization in the U.S. At the heart of my interest in the organization is given the fact that the organization work with the society to ensure that the rights of all people are respected. As if this is not enough, the company also work to ensure that environment is conserved at all cost not forgetting that it provide employment to several people in America most of them being youths. Project and its Relationship to the Organization’s Objectives In this project proposal for my organization of interest HRC is to construct a new organizational office in Philadelphia which
  • 4. will provide services to people in Delaware County. The major function of this organization is to provide services to the people irrespective of where they are in the society. This is important as most of the people who suffer human rights violations are in the periphery of the large urban centers and constructing an office for the organization in Delaware will significantly help to ensure that the victims in the region are served timely and effectively. It is because of this that I am of the opinion that building a new office at Delaware is an informed decision. The project proposal is relevant to the organizations objectives of ensuring that all people with varied sexual orientation are protected against human rights violation and because of this, they have to have their presence near the potential victims. Approved Project Proposal Plan The project that will be implemented in this proposal is to build new organization office in Delaware which will help the organization to bring services to the potential victims which is central to organizational best practices that will lead to success. The building will have as many offices that will include counseling, reporting, legal and organization management office. Project Managements Project management is one of the factors that determine the success completion of the project. The methodology used to manage the project must be effective as it should be able to identify project risks before they occur and stall the project implementation. It is important that projects are implemented by construction professional so that it can be termed success at the end of the project implementation. Project management methodology is the model that project managers use to design, plan implement and achieve the project goals (Kim & Park, 2006). This project will use Lean Construction Management methodology
  • 5. as this will allow the project managers to asses and evaluate the success of the project from time to time. The project will implemented in stages and this will provide the best resources for the project successful completion. The project will utilize research as the main tool to understand the scope of the project. It is also important to seek consultation from project experts so as to understand any construction project. This project will be done in four phases that will include, project designing, planning, implementation and finally completion. Project Scope and Scheduling Understanding project scope is important as it provide the required data to estimate the project cost and time required to complete the project (Atkinson et al., 2006). The scope is also important as it provide the project planners and designers with the information regarding the activities that will be involved in the project and the requirements to complete the project successfully. This project will require both financial and human resources so as to complete it to the last part of the project. The project will require a lot of labor force given that it is to be implemented in the shortest time possible (Herroelen et al., 2009 ). The project will require construction materials from the project implementation. It will also require human capital and skills which will be vital during planning and designing stages of the project. The project will be done in the way that it fits the requirement of an office and therefore, high levels of skilled manpower will be required. As earlier discussed, the new office will be constructed to provide services closer to the people. The activities that will be included in the project include offices, recreation facilities and multiple offices that will be used for different purposes including reporting, counseling, provision of legal advice among other activities that the organization may deem fit to be carried out at the office (Herroelen et al., 2009). The primary
  • 6. activities of the project will take at most two months each activity taking not more than nine hours in a single day. The activities will be done on a daily basis including weekends. This project will be developed in one year since it is required to be successful at the end. The project will begin with consultation and project evaluation which will be done in one month. This stage is important as it will identify the best place where the office will be built. The second stage will be project design and planning for project implementation (Herroelen et al., 2009). This stage will take two month as it will require wide consultation to come up with the best design and plan for the building. Project implementation which is largely project construction will take eight months as this is the most crucial stage that is labor intensive and requires step by step implementation so that the project is successful. The project will be done by construction companies which will itself collect data as far as the project implementation is concerned. This is important so that the organization can focus on its activities as the project is implemented. References Atkinson, R., Crawford, L., & Ward, S. (2006). You are to use what was approved for all remaining individual assignments. You will need to focus on developing and implementing a new hiring process for ACCO Brands Corporation. Have you taken this course before? Is this your original work? I’m trying to figure out how there could be such a jump in the topic. I would encourage you to review this week’s reading as well. I believe the Lewis method may help you to better understand the phases that may be involved. When addressing the scope, this entails more than simply what you hope to accomplish. You need to include cost and schedule parameters as well. While you are on the right track with much of what was done in the MS Project file, you need to focus on your approved project. Might you be able to create something similar? The WBS is going to serve as the foundation that you need to build the schedule. Then, this is going to be helpful when you go to look at costs later in the term. I believe you could provide more information in your schedule specific to your project. We need to be able to see how any slip in one activity can impact the rest of the schedule. You need to ensure the information rolls up correctly.

  • 13. 1 9 Organization and Project Plan Template Proposal Organization and Project Plan Template Proposal Purpose for the Organization’s Existence The organization that I have chosen for the study is ACCO Brands Corp. ACCO Brands Corp is a manufacturer of office equipment with its headquarters in Lake Zurich, Illinois. The organization offers a wide range of services such as binding and lamination, boards and easels, laptop physical security, notebook, planning products and presentation and storage (Camm, 2017). The common and leading brands and products offered by the company are; Day-Timer®, Five Star®, GBC®, Hilroy®, Kensington®, Marbig, Mead® among others. This organization is committed to ensuring that their customers are all satisfied with the products that they offer to them. The organization’s vision is to accept diversity, teamwork and also to respect each other. It is one of the organizations that have been recognized as a company that cares for its employees as well as the customers. In addition to that, it has shown how it is responsible to the environment since it has done a lot to ensure that they reduce any environmental impact. Therefore, this clearly shows what the purpose of the organization is. It is to ensure that they provide the best products and render the best services to the customers and also to promote environmental sustainability. Organization of Interest
  • 14. Through the years, I have been having the interest to know more about ACCO Brands Corp and that is why I have decided to do a project proposal about it. It will help me in researching more about it. I once had a friend who used to work there and based on the information that he used to tell me, I gained an interest to know about its performance, how it relates to the customers and also to know the probability of the company. For an organization to be successful and to produce products of good quality, it should engage its employees and ensure that they feel comfortable and receive some benefit. Good treatment of employees increases the productivity of the company. Most importantly, ACCO Brands Corp is a company that produces office equipment that is used in many organizations that have offices. Therefore, the products offered by the company affect most people in the society. This implies that there is need to analysis the company through the project proposal so as to understand how it runs its day to day operations before the products reach in the offices. Project and its Relationship to the Organization’s Objectives In this project, the topic that I will deal with is the implementation of a new hiring process. One of the objectives of the organization is to ensure that they provide high-quality products. Basically, a hiring process is important because it has a great impact on the company’s production and performance values. Therefore, I think that ACCO Brands Corp should implement a new hiring process to ensure that they meet their objectives easily and prevent further costs that may be as a result of bad hiring. The organization’s current selection and hiring process need to be improved so as to avoid hiring an employee who is not competent. The integrity test that helps in assessing the
  • 15. personality of an applicant can be easily manipulated. Based on the research that has been done in the past, it was noted that the integrity questions are easy to cheat on (Bullard, 2003)). Of course, an employer will choose an applicant who scored the higher scores than an applicant who scored less. When I look at it in the other perspective, something seems amiss. This is because; the participant who scored higher than the others may have cheated on by filling wrong answers so as to get that position. ACCO Brands Corp automated its hiring process with iCIMS talent acquisition software. As much as it sounds better and the use of advanced technology, an applicant may manipulate the answers since the process is automated. Therefore, I think that ACCO Brands Corp should implement a new hiring process that will help in doing away with the manipulation of answers and other related problems. There are many consequences of bad hire which in most cases have a great impact on the organization. Job applicants may provide great information and perform brilliantly in their test but maybe they are not the right person to fit for the position. Therefore, this means that sometimes, bad hire may just be unavoidable. iCIMS talent acquisition software may sometimes need an upgrade which makes it face some integration issues hence makes it hard for use (Guffey, & Loewy, 2014). When this happens, it may be frustrating. Therefore, I think that ACCO Brands Corp should implement new hiring process. The use of iCIMS for hiring can make the company face a decrease in applications. This is because the job postings may not be cross-posted to job boards. ACCO Brands Corp being one of the largest suppliers of its products should choose employees who have skills in that particular field so as to continue producing better products with high quality. The hiring process is a great determinant of the productivity of a company (Bullard, 2003). Therefore, there is a need for ACCO
  • 16. Brands Corp to implement the new hiring process so as to ensure that they get competent employees who are able to utilize the available resources to improve the productivity of the company. ACCO Brands Corp is a company that has great potential in becoming a leading company in the office products. This is mainly because it has products that are known by many consumers. The company recorded 26.44 % in the earnings growth as at September in the year 2017 compared to 12.01% which was recorded in the year 2016. This shows that the company has much potential in growing. However, its existing hiring process is not fully effective and therefore, reaching the best candidates in the recruitment process becomes difficult. In addition, the iCIMS hiring approach used by the company could be lowering staff morale. A bad hire is likely to cause a negative attitude towards work (Guffey, & Loewy, 2014). This may easily lead to potentially affect employees from working in the organization for a long time. Holding talented employees for a long time in an organization is very important because it enables an organization to fully know understand about these employees. Therefore, the organization can put the employees under working conditions which fit with these employees and therefore improving productivity becomes easy. In addition, ACCO Brands Corporation needs to implement an effective hiring process. The use of iCIMS is more expensive because there are monetary costs incurred when the company losses an employee especially the talented employees. Therefore, the company must spend more in getting other employees which reduce its profitability. ACCO Brands Corporation has been using e-recruitment (iCIMS) for a long time and therefore it’s important for the organization to try implementing a new recruitment process. This will help to reduce monetary costs and also improve its productivity by reaching the most competent employees.
  • 17. Therefore, the project will help the organization in improving the quality of the products of offers and hence increasing its productivity. In 2016, ACCO Brands Corp recorded a revenue increase of 3.09%. The office equipment industry has been growing for the past years at a higher level. Therefore, due to this, ACCO Brands Corp should have recorded a higher increase in the revenue. However, the company is not able to express its full potential because its employees are not able to fully improve the productivity. Implementing a new hiring process is a good measure towards increasing the revenue recorded by the company. References Bullard, S. (2003). • 23. Project budget Comment by Carol: Have you reviewed my earlier comments? You are to begin with the title as it appears on the cover page. The title is not to be in bold per APA guidelines. Then, you are to proceed with an introductory paragraph. What do you intend to present? You would also need to identify your specific project so the reader would understand how you are applying the various topics to your project. The project budget is an extensive estimate of all the total financial cost required to complete a particular project. This budget is inclusive of cost of materials, labor costs, operational cost and any bother direct cost that is involved in the project at hand. The main aim of a project budget is to provide the sponsor with the correct anticipated cost to complete the project (Diab, Varma & Panthi, 2017). The project budget also enables to track if the financial success of the project. Project manager, sponsors, and the project team are the people greatly involved in the project begetting. In this case, the project that will be implemented in this proposal is to build new organization office in Delaware which will help the organization to bring services to the potential victims which are central to organizational best practices that will lead to success. Comment by Carol: I am looking for you to distinguish between a labor and a capital budget. I’ll read on to find out more. Comment by Carol: The same font and font size should be used throughout. Comment by Carol: Enables who or what to track? Proper grammar is to be used throughout. Comment by Carol: The project manager… Comment by Carol: ?? Comment by Carol: No. You are to use the project topic that was approved in Week 1. You are to focus on developing and implementing a new hiring process. The building will have as many offices that will include counseling, reporting, legal and organization management office. Construction of that kind of an office requires extensive
  • 24. research before the projects start to ensure that the financial resources used are not wasted at the end. The construction of this office which is estimated to hold about four departments to ensure the clients in Delaware community enjoy the service of HRC is estimated to cost over $130 per square foot. The office is estimated to occupy a two-story building with a total of 100000 squares foot. Therefore the total cost estimated for this project is close to $13,000,000.this cost if inclusive of the construction material, subcontractors, architectures, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, excavators, furniture’s, government regulations among others. In this project proposal for my organization of interest, HRC is to construct a new organizational office in Philadelphia which will provide services to people in Delaware County we decided to use the available resource of our subcontractor by the name Premium Quality Construction located in Philadelphia. By choosing this company was to get a 5% discount on the total estimated cost of the project. Comment by Carol: You are not permitted to change project topics at this point. You will want to focus your individual assignments on what was approved.Comment by Carol: How did you arrive at this cost? I did not see a MS Project file included with your submission. Labor budget of the project Comment by Carol: Each key word in a level one heading is to begin with a capital letter per APA guidelines. This is the number of labor hours required to complete a project. Labor cost management defines a project, forecasting, budgeting and managing other cost is easy, but when it comes to labor, it’s what makes the project succeed better work force will eventually result to a successful project (Epstein & Shapiro, 2017). On the other hand, poorly motivated and underproductive workforce will make the project fail. Regarding that the longer the crew works, the higher the costs and therefore effort should be done in reducing the working hours to avoid excess use of finances. With the help of the project manager and a team of the project management, we came up with the estimated cost for
  • 25. this office construction project. Comment by Carol: What is the number of hours? The number of hours is only one variable used to calculate the labor budget. Unit pricing from estimate (materials and labor) = $40,000. Comment by Carol: I need for you to clearly identify who is completing each activity in your schedule (which was to be started last week). Then, you would need to explain the calculations performed to arrive at these numbers. Material costs from vendor quote = $15,000 Comment by Carol: If material costs are here, then why are they also included in your capital budget? Further clarification is needed. Labor budget = (Unit pricing – Materials) = $34,000 Average burdened labor rate = $20/hour Labor hours = $34,000/$20 = 1300 hours. Capital budget This is the process of allocating finances to the various areas as required to complete the project. In this project, we allocated funds to the construction of the project as follow; Comment by Carol: There is a bit more to distinguishing between a capital and a labor budget. Might you elaborate? Construction material $2450000 Furniture’s $260000 Architects $100000 Government certification $8000000 Engineers $7000000 Excavators $2300000 Total costs $13000000 Scope and schedule of the project labor and capital Understanding project labor and capital scope are important as it provides the required data to estimate the project cost and time required to complete the project. The scope is also important as it provides the project planners and designers with the information regarding the activities that will be involved in the project and the requirements to complete the project successfully. This office construction project was planned to take the shortest time possible so that victims can access the
  • 26. services as soon as possible. A lot of labor and material are required for the successful completion of the project but still to complete it is limited. It will also require human capital and skills which will be vital during the planning and design stages of the project. The project will be done in the way that it fits the requirement of an office and therefore, high levels of skilled manpower will be required. With this consideration with hired a time manager who designed the best time frame to complete this project. This project will be developed in one year since it is required to be successful at the end. The project will begin with consultation and project evaluation which will be done in one month. This stage is important as it will identify the best place where the office will be built. The second stage will be project design and planning for project implementation.is was assumed that in that one year only the estimated budget of $130,000,000 would be used with no other cost though we had a contingency plan in place in case of any eventualities. Risk management plan In any project management, there must be anticipations that something may go wrong and this makes a project successful. Solid project risk management practices should be taken to deliver the project in the stipulated timeframe (Klakegg, 2016). Proactive risk management allows a project manager to optimize project results by implementing proven tools to plan for both threats and opportunities. For this project, we came up with a risk management plan which included the following steps. Comment by Carol: …wrong, and Run-on sentences can be corrected with the appropriate use of punctuation or by creating multiple smaller sentences. • 27. schedule and resourcing of constructing the office. Comment by Carol: What are some specific risks associated with developing and implementing a new hiring process for ACCO Brands? The probability of the risk was occurring: we were able to assess the percentage in risks occurring that would affect the office construction. Impact of the risk: we discussed the potential impact if any risk occurred during the project implementation and we noted the possible scale since the office construction was a large project and a lot of resources were involved compared to other smaller projects. Prioritizing the risk for mitigation: After identifying the potential risks, we planned for mitigation depending on the severity to the office construction project in case it occurred during the one year of the project process. Mitigation of the risk: we came up with the steps of eliminating the risk. We put aside about $2000000 to cater for any budgetary allocation that may necessitate addition during the implementation. For example, the price of construction material may rise due to dollar pressure. Internal and external risks and their respective contingency budget plans Internal risks are the risks that are faced by any company based on its internal organization occurring from its day today’s operations. These risks can be avoided by having better management in the company (Nicholas & Steyn, 2017. In our office construction project example of an internal risk, we identified was that some of the internal project managers were not competent in the construction industry to oversee this big project. We then came up with extra $25000 contingency fund to hire a new project manager to assist in the project management. Comment by Carol: What is the risk? Do you know the difference between a risk and a risk factor? A risk is what might happen. External risks: this is the risks that face an organization, but they are beyond their control. In our project, we discovered one
  • 28. external risk which was the current political stalemate that made the dollar weaken. This could directly affect the cost of office construction materials making the price to rise. In response to these risks, we developed a contingency budget plan of setting aside $1200, 000 to supplement the estimated budget in case of such occurrences. I believe you initially talked about developing and implementing a new hiring process. I expect to see that project being used as a basis for the completion of your Weeks 1-4 Individual Assignments. You need to be able to apply what you are learning in the assigned reading to this project. While you may have a clear understanding of what is required for a budget, I didn’t see it being reflected in this work. Further clarification is needed. For instance, how do you distinguish between a labor and a capital budget? Even if one understands how to calculate labor costs, this needs to “marry” with the many activities in the schedule (submitted last week). Each activity should have an associated cost. I noticed you including material costs under both the labor and the capital budgets. I did not see where a schedule was included. In putting together your schedule, you would want to ensure you didn’t have the overlap over resources as time may be a constraint. People typically will only work 40 hours per week. If you have one person assigned to work on multiple activities which would require more than 40 hours per week for that one person, it could pose a problem. I did not see where you truly addressed risks for a project. I want to see specifics. Do you understand the difference between a risk and a risk factor? Sometimes we plan to avoid a risk, but it could occur despite our best planning. If any risks were to occur on your project, what impact would it have to your budget? Again, we would likely want to look back at our schedule and the many activities required to get a more clear picture.
