What is Water FootPrint?
The water footprint measures the sum water used to deliver each of the goods and services we
utilize. It can be measured for a solitary procedure, for example, developing rice, for an item, for
example, a pair of pants, for the fuel we put in our car, or for a whole multi–national organization.

The Effects Of Climate Change On The Environment
1.0 Introduction
The development of society and economy has caused varieties of environmental problems in the
past decades. Carbon dioxide (CO2), the most common greenhouse gases has caused a great impact
on climate change, and to reduce the emission of CO2 becomes a worldwide agenda. (Christopher
R.I, 2013) While, Buildings, taking up third of the total UK greenhouse gas emissions (CCC,
2014http://www.theccc.org.uk/charts–data/ukemissions–by–sector/buildings/), have a great potential
to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions and improve the sustainable development in the future. One
of the non–neglect issue to reduce the energy use and CO2 emission of building is in the
construction phases. The embodied carbon accounting 20–50% of the total ... Show more content on

(Construction Products Association, 2012) Also cradle to grave assessment can be seen as the most
comprehensive assessment, but varieties of assumptions need to be made throughout the long
timescales. (Nigel H, 1999) In this essay two data sources are using, one is the inventory of carbon
and energy (ICE) which focus on the embodied carbon assessment edited by the BSRIA. However,
the boundary of ICE is cradle to gate. The other one is the Environment Agency, it is a tool to
calculate the emission of the greenhouse gases in the construction.

My Ecological Overshoot
1. An ecological overshoot is when a population exceeds its carrying capacity. Also, it is described
as the amount of earths needed to support our specific lifestyle. The consequences of maintaining an
ecological overshoot is the damage to different ecosystems and the lack of natural resources such as
food, fresh water and the higher prices of manufactured products for the future generations. 2. I
would need 2.1 earths to sustain my lifestyle. My ecological footprint is smaller compared to the
average American footprint. I have seen that mobility is one of the factors that contribute most to
my ecological footprint. For this reason, I have to find ways to transport using ecofriendly options.
Also, I can buy goods that produce less Co2

Persuasive Essay On Climate Change
With climate change leading species to go extinct and causing sea levels to rise, what have our
major governments done to prevent all this from happening. In 2006 Al Gore stated that "The
voluminous evidence now strongly suggest that unless we act boldly and quickly to deal with the
underlying causes of global warming, our world will undergo a string of terrible catastrophes"(An
Inconvenient Truth). What Al Gore has said over 10 years ago has become a gruesome reality with
many natural disasters affecting major countries and shutting down developing countries
completely. If our governments don't take initiative to reduce and prevent climate change, we must
make the first move to do something ourselves. But do the actions of us individuals have an effect to
something as big as climate change? I believe that the actions of individuals towards the prevention
of climate change all have an effect to the greater cause, but the concentration and types of actions
such as personal changes, taking alternative transportation, and overall education and awareness of
the climate change determine the strength of the effect to it.
One thing we can all do to contribute in fighting climate change is reducing our carbon footprint.
We may not know it but every single one of us has a carbon footprint and our everyday choices
affect on whether or not that footprint will be huge or small. Simple things like driving to work and
tossing out spoiled food increase our carbon footprint. One way we as individuals can decrease our
carbon footprint is to do/change a few things from our daily routine. One thing we can do is recycle.
As simple and generic as it sounds, it creates a big difference. King County solid waste states that
"If you throw away even half the paper you use in a year instead of recycling it, you increase your
climate pollution by the same amount as driving 526 miles" (King County). Recycling is an absolute
way to reduce our carbon output with such little effort. Another way to reduce our footprints is to
not waste food. King County also stated that "The average American tosses out 290 pounds of food
each year – 25% of what they buy. This results in the same climate pollution as driving 876 miles

Pros And Cons Of Lane Splitting Essay
Lane splitting is beneficial to both motorcyclists and other motorists on the roads. Some people say
that lane splitting is terrible because it allows motorcyclists to get to places quicker and that's "not
fair," but other says that lane splitting is good because it helps everyone on the road, and even the
environment. I think lane splitting should be legal in all states because of how it can reduce
congestion of traffic, there's a smaller carbon footprint on the environment, and although lane
splitting seems all good, there are some stupid people that act dangerously while lane splitting.
Lane splitting on a motorcycle is good because it reduces the congestion of traffic. The less
motorized vehicles there are in a line of traffic, the shorter the line it's pretty simple. If motorcycles
could lane split/filter during rush hour or times that there's a lot of traffic, the line could easily get
cut in half depending on how many motorcycles are on the road at that time.
With the air we breathe in already being polluted more and more each day, we have to decrease our
carbon footprint on the environment. While stopped in traffic your car's engine still runs, meaning
depending on how long you sit in traffic, the more carbon is released into the environment. If a
motorcycle can lane split, they can get to their destination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some motorcyclists act dangerously while lane splitting as Collin Woodward explains, an editor on
CheatSheet.com "When most people think of lane splitting, they usually imagine some guy on a
Hayabusa flying down the highway doing 135 miles per hour, clipping the occasional side–view
mirror, and generally putting themselves and everybody else at risk of having an accident."
Speeding while lane splitting is the number one way riders get injured while lane splitting. A lot of
the riders that fly by think that all because a 4 wheel vehicle can't lane split means that it's a lane all

Global Warming And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
There's no argument about it now, global warming exists and is a problem. More and more people
are becoming concerned with greenhouse gases' effects on the environment as well as humans'
effects on the environment through our carbon footprint. Many activities humans participate in help
add to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and increase the size and the effect of the carbon
footprint humanity is leaving behind. The carbon footprint is the amount of carbon the humans
create as waste through many processes such as the burning of fossil fuels and more. Recycling is
one of the first ideas used to combat pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. However, many
people still argue recycling's effectiveness and whether the processes are helping and if the
processes are worth the money. Recycling helps reduce the carbon footprint by reusing multiple
types of materials, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as creating alternative sources of
energy. Recycling's main idea is to reuse materials from past products that were already created and
are no longer used or just the simple reuse of a product the way it is. The recycling of old materials
reduces the need to create or harvest raw materials in which both of those processes release large
amounts of greenhouse gases. Most people know of recycling paper and plastic, but many more
types of materials can be reused like metals and textiles. B. Zamani, M. Svanström, G. Peters, and T.
Rydberg (2015) state that "the reuse of

Food Self Provisioning
Food is, quite simply, essential. Without it, life can only exist for a short period of time. How we
manage to produce enough food to survive will have an impact on the environment as the food
systems we use can both contribute to environmental damage and yet be affected by it in turn
(Jehlicka & Raghuram, 2013). Given that agriculture contributes a substantial amount of
Greenhouse Gasses (over 50% combined) means that food systems are at the heart of climate
change (Jehlicka & Raghuram, 2013). Food systems are the methods by which we produce
(farming, agriculture, fishing etc), process (treat, process, package etc), store (ambient, chilled,
frozen and housing), transport (locally, regionally, globally, air, sea, land etc) and dispose of items ...

Food self–provisioning represents a very different kind of relationship between humans, food and
the environment. Food self–provisioning and sharing the excess are generally social practices with
low environmental impacts; these, in turn, promote social & community bonds which are
compatible with sustainability (Jehlicka, 2013b). It requires little research effort, has no
governmental intervention (unless the use of allotments is involved) and practices vary widely
around the world. Food self–provisioning is generally environmentally and socially sustainable. It
follows that if an individual changes their agency (whether through a change in values or beliefs or
out of conscience) and that individual then changes their behaviour, they may set a precedent that
others then follow. (Jehlicka, 2013b). Research shows that these practices promote local social,
ecological and environmental resilience by strengthening networks of cooperation between families,
friends, neighbours and co–workers (Jehlicka, 2013b). Alongside this is the reduction of waste as
surplus is distributed amongst networks that encompass urban and rural family and friends, which
also has the added benefit of reducing excess resource and energy consumption; this is both socially
and environmentally sustainable. It gives practitioners control over what they produce as on a very
general level food self–provisioning involves very modest amounts (if any) of fossil fuel–based
and/or fertilisers and pesticides. This, along with that fact that little (if any) fossil fuel is used in the
transportation of goods as these will mainly distributed locally (Jehlicka, 2013b). Added to this is
that products also tend to result in much less packaging and waste; even the methods of preservation
whether that be drying, salting, pickling, smoking, fermenting, canning, freezing and dehydrating
will often have higher levels of

What Aspect Of Your Lifestyle
Introduction I have already endeavored to live a lifestyle to help the environment by recycling,
driving a more fuel–efficient vehicle, and using more energy efficient technology. That being said,
as an individual in the global world, I have much to change in order to reverse the effects of climate
change.
What aspect of your lifestyle contributed the most to your carbon footprint?
In one year's time (9/2/14–9/2/15) my carbon footprint has totaled 14.90 metric tons of Carbon
Dioxide (CO2), which comes in slightly below the nation's average (Carbon Footprint Calculator,
2015). The most surprising source of carbon emissions in my day–to–day life were my secondary
emissions, specifically my habits regarding food choice, recycling, and typical purchases. After
conducting some research, this massive amount of additional carbon emission (7.65 metrics tons,
which is more than half of all of my emissions) is most likely due to the shipping requirements of
the products I purchase. I buy little to no organic, or locally grown produce, and rather purchase
packaged products, which have been shipped trans–nationally over several thousand miles. The
immense energy requirements for transportation of food and material goods in the U.S contributes to
carbon emissions on a massive scale, for which I am partially to blame.
What aspect of your lifestyle contributed the least to your carbon footprint?
Overall, the use of my fuel–efficient Honda Civic contributed the least to my carbon

The Impact Of Hybrid Cars On The Environment
Possible Solutions The main goal for the following solutions is to reduce CO2 that is continually
being pumped into the atmosphere at an unsustainable rate. To reach this goal, humans must work
together in order to replace current methods of energy production and human transportation to better
fit the earth's needs. The main focus for humans to reduce CO2 emissions is centered on
transportation and energy consumption because these two variables are the most impactful on the
environment. If eco–friendly energy solutions are adopted along with sustainable means of
transportation then it would greatly reduce CO2 emissions and even has the potential to reduce CO2
build up in the atmosphere. Transportation Many people use their owns cars to privately commute
long distances without having to sacrifice comfortability. Many car companies have adopted hybrid
vehicle production lines to satisfy consumer and environmental needs. Hybrid cars are much more
sustainable and safer for the environment because they give people the opportunity to get from point
A to B by either reducing CO2 emissions or by releasing no emissions and running completely on
electricity. Furthermore, with growing technology hybrid electric vehicles have become cheaper and
much more safer for the environment by being able to go a longer distance on a single charge. Car
companies have also become flexible for consumers by given them the ability to customize their car
by having more eco–friendly options such as:

The Effects Of Carbon Emission On Climate Change
Introduction The world continuously faces a variety of threats every day, from natural disasters to
terrorist, but one threat that society predominately contributes to all on their own, is climate change.
There are many feasible explanations for the global threat of climate change. These explanations
include but are not limited to, the act of deforestation to the rainforest and other trees, green house
gas emissions, and sulfate aerosol, which cause poor air quality. It is reported that nearly three
quarters of green house gases are a result of humans burning fossil fuels from nonrenewable energy,
cars, and electricity (LaMeaux, 2014). The effects of carbon emission on climate change are having
devastating and many irreversible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there is one company in particular that is going the extra mile to reduce their carbon
footprint until they no longer produce one. Apple Incorporated has taken the responsibility to
measure, track, and record their carbon emission from designing, assembling, and shipping their
millions of products and are continuously trying to find new innovated ways to improve their
everyday carbon footprint.
Apple Company Goal Apple Incorporated understands that climate change is a huge global issue
that the world faces and knows that change has to start somewhere, so they are taking rigorous steps
to measure their environmental impact. For more than two decades, Apple has gone to great lengths
to try and minimize their impact that they and their products have on the environment. Apple
measures their carbon footprint using a comprehensive product life cycle analysis (Jackson, 2014).
Apple computes this analysis report with the help of a digital media resource, the World Resource
Institute (WRI)/World Business Council for Sustainable Developments (WBCSD) Greenhouse Gas
Protocol, which provides various calculation tools and a database for a wide range of professional
companies just like Apple (Jackson, 2014). Apple would not successfully be able to acquire such a
detailed calculations report of their carbon emissions without the assistance of the digital media
database of the World Resource Institute (WRI)/World Business Council for Sustainable

The Effects Of Climate Change On The Environment Essay
Recently, global temperature is without a doubt increasing, and there is a very powerful chance that
the reason for the heat range change is man made pollution. The alleged cause of this climatic
change is the development of carbon dioxide, which blocks solar heat and keeps it from radiating
out of the weather.
Carbon footprint is a way to evaluate the effect that human actions have on the surroundings
through the exhaust of green house gas, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and
chlorofluorocarbon are associated with environment changes and have an effect on the entire
atmosphere. Specifically, the more reliant we are on non–renewable energy sources, the larger our
carbon footprint is.
Regardless of what we think about climate change, we will likely believe that our current ways of
life, developments across the world, and the expanding human population are affecting the world.
Moreover, there are many ways we can help to reduce carbon footprint releasing in the environment.

The Un Millennium Summit : Eight Millennium Development Goals
In 2000, the UN Millennium Summit created eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that
aim to catalyze development in our world. A total of 193 countries and 23 international
organizations agreed to participate and complete these goals by 2015. The MDGs encompass a total
of fifteen targets that range from eradicating hunger and poverty to encouraging global partnership
for development. Specifically, goal 7 aims to ensure environmental sustainability. One of the largest
known and acknowledged problems in our world is that nonrenewable resources are both depleting
and in many cases causing harmful environmental effects. Carbon dioxide emissions have increased
by approximately 50% since 1990 and 24% of global diseases are attributed to environmental
factors and pollutants. Industrialization tends to lead to a decrease in life expectancy due to
increased amounts of exposer to harmful pollutants. However, the United Arab Emirates is one
country that is taking careful strides to ensure that economic development does not become a burden
on neither the environment nor its people. The UAE is currently one of the leading countries in
creating innovated ways to reverse the loss of environmental resources. By finding alternative
energy sources and implementing policies and regulations, the United Arab Emirates is effectively
completing the Millennium Developmental Goal 7.A which aims to reverse the loss of
environmental resources.

Energy Sources And How Our Energy Choices Affect The...
What do we know about our energy sources and how our energy choices affect the environment?
Many people still do not put much though into this topic or pay any attention to the amount of
energy they use or where it comes from. For some it is just willful negligence, but for many others it
may be due to a lack of knowledge on the subject. Perhaps it is a good idea to pay closer attention
and educate ourselves so we can make informed decisions that may lead to less stress on our wallets
and on our environment. In order to make a change, we should observe our currently used energy
sources in everyday life, the impact of increasing energy uses, and observe all of the alternative
options available to us. In my everyday life, some energy sources I commonly use are natural gas,
electricity, and oil. Natural gas is used to heat my home and cook meals in the kitchen. Electricity is
used all over my house to light a room or power electronics. I use oil almost daily when I drive my
car, although luckily I usually do not have to drive very far. None of these that I use are renewable
energy sources. The oil and natural gas are examples of fossil energy. Electricity often is generated
through the conversion of other energy sources, such as fossil fuels, which makes it a secondary
energy source (Energy Sources, n.d.). I often do not put much thought into my energy uses, as I
usually take it for granted. One of the biggest impacts of increased energy needs is the amount of

Through the ecological footprint experiment I conducted, I realized that if everybody were to live in
this manner, we would be in need of 6.13 earths. This is the amount of the land's ecosystem habitat
that the human race today would require in order to survive sustainably (Dunn, 2008). The online
ecological footprint calculator is a very innovative and informative application that poses great
benefit to the society. The ecological footprint calculator calculates the amount of inputs and outputs

Most climate scientists agree with the idea that the main cause of the current global warming trend
is human expansion of the "greenhouse effect", warming that results when the atmosphere traps heat
radiating from Earth toward space. Over the last century, the burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil
has increased the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2). This happens because the
coal or oil burning process combines carbon with oxygen in the air to make CO2. To a lesser extent,
the clearing of land for agriculture, industry, and other human activities has increased concentrations

Reducing the Carbon Footprint Essay example
Because carbon footprints are such hot topics in the news these days, it's an ideal topic for this
particular paper. As concerns about global warming and potential climate change have continued to
evolve the term "carbon footprint" has become ingrained in many people's consciousness. Though
the large Fortune 500 companies focus on reduction of their own carbon footprints, individuals can
help in their own small way as well.
But what is a carbon footprint? Basically, carbon footprints are defined as the total amount of
greenhouse gasses that are produced when it comes to supporting human activities (and which are
expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide) (What is a carbon footprint?). Driving a car, heating
one's house, even buying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This isn't to suggest that industrial farming is healthier; just that it leaves less of an organic footprint
than its organic counterpart.
But what can people do to ensure that they're not leaving a larger carbon footprint? One suggestion
is to plant a vegetable garden – Prieznitz (2008) goes so far as to suggest tearing up one's entire
backyard and turning the entire acreage into a veggie garden. This is because there would be no
lawn mowing (meaning no gasoline used) and no chemicals used that make green lawns (and that
end up contaminating groundwater). While Priesnitz's suggestion is a little over–the–top – few
people have time to cultivate and maintain an entire backyard of vegetables – using part of a
backyard to grow vegetables would reduce a person's carbon footprint (not to mention would help
feed that person's family for awhile). Priesnitz suggests that any grass remaining can be maintained
with a push mower.
Other ways to reduce carbon footprints are to energy–proof a home (Reysa, 2008). Gary Reysa
points out that home energy improvements not only save a family on energy bills, but are also easy
and inexpensive to implement.
For one thing, simple lifestyle changes can save kilowatts of electricity. One of these involves
turning off the lights and electrical appliances when leaving a room. Shutting off computers can
save watts – turning them off at night, and having them hibernate during the day if not in use is a
good way to save energy

well as the developed countries to make a Resilient city. Resilient cities are the one that has
developed capacities to help absorb future shocks and stresses to its social, economic, and technical
systems and infrastructures to still be able to maintain essentially the same functions, structures,
systems, and identity." As the definition clearly states about how to make the city to be more stable
due to extreme usage of resources that leads to the degradation of resources and the environment.
Throughout the world due to the increase in the urbanization that is shift of people from the rural
places to the urban region in search of employment. This is due rapid growth of industries where
they are need of people for working. Due to this there is a rapid utilization of resources and also
there is a economic downturn that has led to the poverty.
There are seven key elements that form a resilient city they are A) Renewable Energy city which
involves the usage of renewable power source like water, solar, wind and many other renewable
resources. B) Carbon Neutral City in this complete zero emission is maintained that can also be said
as zero emission city. C) Distributed City this involves the distributed population in a place to
reduce the population density and make that 'Green Infrastructure'. D) Photosynthetic City will have
a greener place by growing the food locally andto

Carbon Footprint Synthesis
A carbon footprint is the carbon dioxide production we leave behind due to our daily life activities.
The size of our carbon footprint depends on what people do daily, and can be caused either directly
or indirectly. Thought it is impossible to not have a carbon footprint at all, we can still reduce the
amount of carbon dioxide we produce everyday. (Source 1)
One reason why our carbon footprint plays an important role in the world, is because we can raise
awareness to how much damage and harm we are causing the Earth unintentionally. (Source 1)
Without carbon footprints, we won't be able to tell how much carbon dioxide we are leaving behind
and producing. According to Source 1, "Carbon Dioxide is known as greenhouse gas, which
scientists believe to be one of the contributing factors to the warming of the Earth, or better known
as global warming." This phrase from the text proves how we must be aware of how much damage
we are doing to the world by doing simple things that can change Earth drastically. ... Show more

"Taking simple steps such as these can reduce your carbon footprint and can help make the Earth a
better place." (Source 1) There are many ways to decrease the size of your carbon footrpint, but one
of the main ways is to drive at a steady and constant speed. According to Source 1, "For every
gallon of gasoline that is consumed, 8.7 kg of carbon dioxide is produced." Another way to reduce
your carbon footprint, is to turn off all lights and electronics that are not in use. It is also
recommended to buy things locally instead of online shopping. Source 2, states that "Shipping burns

Human Impact Research Paper
PROJECT: HUMAN IMPACT
When you're young, you really don't think about the impact you have on others, or the impact you
leave in this world. Humans, on a daily basis live their lives routinely. We go about our daily routine
as if it's second nature like the air we breathe, not considering the impact that our daily activities
have on this earth. For example, leaving the water on when I brush my teeth is not healthy for the
environment. Using a car when I can walk is also not useful as the more cars that are used, the more
smog increases and pollutes the environment. These examples contribute to the carbon footprint that
I produce on this earth. So what are some ways that I can improve my carbon footprint to have a

Healthy and Green Environment
Healthy and Green Environment – control on carbon footprints!
Introduction The literal meaning of the terminology Carbon print is the amount of Carbon emitted
by an individual in one year of time span. Carbon Dioxide produced from many sources and is the
prime gas responsible for global warming and climate changes in our environment. Define Healthy
and green environment?
In terms of a layman, the answer would be, basically it's the population that creates pollution
nuisance in environment with the emission of various gases, wherein the major portion lies with the
Carbon Dioxide Co2 which is involved vigorously in creating Global warming. Who is accountable
for Global Warming?
Well the responsibility lays in us the "humans" OR calls ourselves the "devastators".
With the each scientific discovery and technology we get close to the "development" and closer to
the "devastation and disaster". The amount of pace we are travelling it puts in doubt if there will be
a healthy environment left for coming generation or just the life full with intoxication?
We human beings knowing the consequences avoid the same, because we don't want to forego our
comfort zone. Is carbon prints becoming high alert?
Because of our life style we deliberately or in–deliberately abuse natural resources produced by
mother Earth in various forms– On daily basis we have been polluting land, air and water; since
ages. Most of us don't bother ourselves about the waste we create, but thanks to

How We Waste Power and Carbon Dioxide
Did you know that lighting a typical office overnight wastes enough energy to heat water for one
thousand cups of tea (Climate Care.org). This is only one of many examples of how we waste power
and Carbon dioxide. Almost everything we do releases carbon dioxide emissions, and in different
amounts. We can save money and CO2 by reducing our carbon footprints, which is the total quantity
of greenhouse gases that someone produces. Although we don't think about them very often, a
carbon footprint is part of everyone's life because it's measured on things we use, our actions create
and waste CO2, and several people have worked to find energy saving ways to reduce them and
help the environment.
A carbon footprint is measured by using several different variables about someone's lifestyle. It's
important to note that depending on where someone may live influences their impact on their carbon
footprint. Just as Stephanie Pappas mentioned; "In California, for example, electricity generation is
relatively climate–friendly, so focusing on vehicular emissions has a greater impact". Using an
online calculator can show anyone how much CO2 they use on average, by answering the questions
provided. "Inevitably, in going about our daily lives – commuting, sheltering our families, eating –
each of us contributes to the greenhouse gas emissions that are causing climate change"
(Nature.org). Basically, determining your carbon footprint is a great first step to better
understanding what uses

The Critical Implications Of Climate Change For Business
What are the critical implications of climate change for business?
A business plays a heavy and critical role in the contribution to global climate change. Suzanne
Goldberg (2013) reports that only 90 companies worldwide caused two–thirds of the man–made
global warming emissions. Oil, coal and gas companies are the major players in the global climate
change crisis of the 21st century (Goldberg 2013). Companies such as Chevron, Exxon and BP are
three of the highest contributors of greenhouse gas emissions. A staggering statistic from Suzanne
Goldberg (2013) states that half of the total global emissions were produced in the past twenty–five
years; which is a long time before governments and corporations became aware that the burning of
coal and oil were causing dangerous green house gas emissions. Businesses can now choose to run
their companies sustainably and this in turn, will help reduce the effects of climate change.
A critical implication for business is that if they do not reduce greenhouse gas emission they will be
slowly transitioned out of the industry. For companies recognizing the need to change, one option is
to operate as carbon neutral. By operating as a carbon neutral company they will be aiming to
reduce their carbon emissions to zero (Carbon Neutral 2010; Australian Government n.d). To
become a carbon neutral company they must first measure their carbon footprint and then reduce
emissions, then offset any remaining and unavoidable emissions. It is quite

With a few clicks on your phone and you'll have them shipped to your house any day u like, but did
you know that all those things in some way increase each person's Carbon footprint or the amount of
carbon dioxide our activities produce. Even though we can't completely eliminate our carbon
footprint we can help reduce it and influence others to join the mission by making small changes
around our house, our daily lives out of the house and invite others to us; together we will help the
earth be a better planet for all of us to live in. First, we can start by making small changes around
our houses. For example, changing little bulbs to the compact fluorescent ones which not only save
us $40 each but also help us save energy which creates carbon in the atmosphere and increases our
carbon footprint. According to "What is Carbon Footprint" By Sarah Gosling, "Some of the actions
which produce carbon dioxide include using electricity, heating or cooling at home." (par.1) This
includes heating water, wasting paper, throwing away plastic products and leaving plugs connected
to the outlets. How can we make these changes you ask yourself? Well, you can use shower heads

Show more content on Helpwriting.net

contributing to climate change (Swallow, 2009). After the trucking incident in Indonesia, E227
Global Solutions is determined to reduce its carbon footprint by 25% next year. By doing so, E227
Global Solutions will improve its public image while simultaneously protecting the environment.
While efforts of "going green" can be seen with E227 Global Solutions' local initiatives, it is crucial
to do so within the company. Currently the company does not have a structured green initiatives for
the internal work environment. Statement of Purpose The main purpose of the proposal is to
persuade the executives of E227 Global Solutions to adopt an overall eco–friendly internal
operations mainly replacing all current equipment with energy efficient ones (e.g. LED lightings).

My Carbon Footprint
My Carbon Footprint This essay reviews my personal carbon footprint and discusses ways to
manage it and reduce some of the biggest areas of my resource consumption. The footprint
calculator that I used required that I answer a series of questions about my consumption habits, and
based on the answers I provided, showed the impact of my lifestyle on the planet. The footprint
calculator uses data for selected countries, based on National Footprint Accounts. The online
calculator asked questions to determine how to distribute the ecological footprint into different
categories based on the country's average consumption profile. In addition to calculating the amount
of carbon a person is responsible for through their daily activities, the calculator also estimated a
total ecological footprint to represent the amount of land and sea area required to provide the
resources a person needs and to absorb their carbon emissions. According to the calculator, if
everyone lived like me, we would need 5.1 Planet Earths to provide enough resources to sustain us
all. More specifically, I produce 23.4 tons of carbon dioxide per year and my lifestyle requires 22.7
global acres of the earth's productive area. My footprint breaks down as follows: services that I
consume account for 39%, food accounts for 27%, goods for 17%, shelter for 11%, and mobility for
6%. The footprint calculator also made suggestions regarding ways to reduce my impact on the
planet. For example, I could reduce the

Coca–Cola: Steps Toward a Greener Future
Abstract: Global climate change is a critical, environmental issue plaguing our planet. Greenhouse
gas emissions from fossil fuels have skyrocketed since the beginnings of the Industrial Revolution
thus contributing increases in average global temperature. Thus, numerous organizations and
individuals have taken action to reduce their carbon footprints in order to lessen their impact on the
environment. Coca–Cola, the ever–popular, soft–drink corporation is one of these organizations that
is taking action to curtail its carbon dioxide emissions in order to create a greener reputation. One of
the ways in which it is attempting to accomplish this goal is through the acquisition of healthful, ...

Moreover, in attempts to keep up with its rival, PepsiCo, in the acquisition of different brands,
Coca–Cola acquired the juice brand Odwalla in 2001 since PepsiCo had already began acquiring a
variety of healthful brands that claimed to be earth–friendly and a healthy choice for the consumer.
Odwalla is an all–natural juice brand, which sells popular juice drinks, smoothies, and nourishment
bars, which are produced, from all–natural and the best quality ingredients without any artificial
additives or preservatives. Moreover, Odwalla boasts that all of its processes are eco–friendly. Thus
Coca–Cola may inevitably benefit a great deal from the acquisition of such an earth–friendly brand
because it may help to reduce the company's ecological footprint. So, the question that we present
and analyze throughout this investigation is, whether Coca–Cola – the all–American company – has
succeeded in reducing its carbon footprint with the procurement of a greener motto.

Biomimicry
What is biomimicry?
From bios, meaning life, and mimesis, meaning to imitate Biomimicry is a new science where
entrepreneurs imitate nature's time–tested processes, systems and designs to solve human's
sustainability problems.
Sustainability Problem
The sustainability problem referred to in this research project is the high energy consumption of air–
conditioners in industrial facilities but also in households and its global and personal health
problems (National Geographic online).
There is too much money and electricity spent on air–conditioning all around the world, and
percentages are rising. Air–conditioners have a negative impact on the environment as they can
release refrigerants into the atmosphere, which deplete the ozone layer.
Health hazards can also occur if air–conditioners are not maintained properly, as dirty filters allow
allergens and pesticides to enter house and buildings.
Nature's solution
Termites build some of the most impressive structures in the animal world, consisting of materials
such as soil, dung and termite saliva and can be 8m high. The extremely porous walls allow
ventilation and cooling systems, due to outside air being able to permeate the entire structure.
Hypothesis: Modeling houses, offices, malls and other large buildings according to the principles of
termite mounds would serve as a sustainable solution, as it would save money and decrease the
amount of energy consumption.

This is the easiest thing about your carbon footprint, and that is measuring your direct emissions.
Everything that you own and everything in your house, dorm apartment has all been produced by

wear, your TV, your fan, toys, appliances and all the other things you own. Food is also including in
having an effect on your carbon footprint. Beef is an example of a food that contributes to your
carbon footprint because it comes from cattle and that is where methane is being produced which is
a powerful greenhouse gas in their digestive system. Gain is one of the main foods that is being fed
to cattle, and so therefore that produces carbon emissions from the chemicals that are being used to
grow it and then gas is being burned to transport it (money crashers). It is proven that a vegetarian
diet produces less C02 then a meat diet (live–strong). This is showing that having a vegetarian diet

Persuasive Essay On Climate Change
Climate Change
Climate change is a problem worldwide, scientist and citizens are concerned of the effects climate
change could have on the world. There is so much evidence that climate change exist so we need to
find a way to stop climate change so the effects of climate change won't happen. We soon learned
that the cause of climate change could have been through greenhouse gases. There are different
types of greenhouse gases, but the one we're going to talk about is carbon dioxide. Greenhouse
gases (which are located below the atmosphere) are gases that allow light from the sun to pass
through the gases and some light/heat back out into space, but a certain amount of light gets trapped
on the earth. This is called the greenhouse effect.
The greenhouse effect is the reason we have heat on earth, without the gases the earth averagely be
below zero degrees. So we do need greenhouse gases, but if there is too much there won't be enough
heat to escape out into space making this a global issue. So if there are multiple type of gases that
trap heat making the earth warmer why talk about carbon dioxide specifically when there are other
greenhouse gases. That is because there are more carbon dioxide when it comes to greenhouse gas
emissions, this because of fossil fuels and industrial processes(note that the picture is on the right is
from 2010). The best solution to reducing greenhouse gases ourselves is simple; it is recycling.

How A Carbon Footprint Is The Total Amount Of Greenhouse...
According to timeforchange.org, a carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases
produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of
carbon dioxide. Before starting this project I was unaware of what a carbon footprint was but as I
learned more about it I was interested to see what mine would be. The first section to calculate my
carbon footprint was how much energy I consume. As a freshman in college living in a dorm I use
$600 worth of electricity which is a total of 2.82 tonnes of CO2e. Next was flights. Over the past
year I have taken one vacation and it was to Providencials Turks and Caicos. It was a direct flight
that took me from JFK airport to an airport in Turks and Caicos. This trip used .41 tonnes of CO2e.
The third section was cars. I drive a Mercedes–Benz GLK 350 4 matic that I drove everyday to
school and dance, both in Ocean City, New Jersey. It is about 10 miles from my house to Ocean City
High School and I would go to dance everyday after school which was right around the corner. For
the entire school year this added up to be 4,080 miles. In the summer I also worked in Ocean City
which ended up being the same amount of miles. These car rides plus a few extra ones I put in 9,000
miles for my miles driven. This total was one of my highest ones with 4.87 tonnes being used. I
never use motorbikes or public transportation so that gave me a total of 0 tonnes for the two of
them. That is a huge benefit to

Going Carbon Neutrality: One Solution to Climate Change
Going carbon neutrality: one solution to climate change
Introduction
Climate change is a major concern of the global community. The Fourth Assessment Report of the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR4) stated that global surface temperature
have increased by about 0.74 ◦C between 1906 and 2005. Extreme high temperature events have
become more frequent and more intense in recent years in some regions.
Many organization and individuals are highly concerned about climate change and want to make
their own actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Purchasing carbon offsets and going carbon
neutrality is one way to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.
Carbon offset and carbon neutrality
Carbon offsets are credits that can be purchased by individual, organization or country to cancel out
the carbon footprint they produce during their daily life or production process. Each carbon credit is
equal to one tons of carbon dioxide either cut down from the emissions or eliminated from the
atmosphere. When the person or the organization is first purchased carbon credits, they should make
sure that they have bought quality offsets. For example, they must make sure that they can check the
project data and verify that the carbon reductions are true and supposable. When the amount of
carbon offsets gained is equal to an individual, organization or country's carbon footprint, that
person, organization or country is carbon neutrality. Carbon

packaging medium, like easy to handle, low in cost, less in weight etc. Approximately, 30–35% of
milk is used in direct form, rest of milk is packed in various packaging form, like Glass bottle,
Plastic bottle, Tetra pack, plastic pouch etc.
As per data from total milk production 146.3 million tons, approximately 40 million tons milk is
used for packaging milk for drinking purpose. This milk is packed in half litter and one litter

The aggregate sum of greenhouse gasses delivered to straightforwardly and indirectly support human exercises, generally expressed proportional huge amounts of Carbon Dioxide What is Water FootPrint? The water footprint measures the sum water used to deliver each of the goods and services we utilize. It can be measured for a solitary procedure, for example, developing rice, for an item, for example, a pair of pants, for the fuel we put in our car, or for a whole multi–national organization. • 3. The Effects Of Climate Change On The Environment 1.0 Introduction The development of society and economy has caused varieties of environmental problems in the past decades. Carbon dioxide (CO2), the most common greenhouse gases has caused a great impact on climate change, and to reduce the emission of CO2 becomes a worldwide agenda. (Christopher R.I, 2013) While, Buildings, taking up third of the total UK greenhouse gas emissions (CCC, 2014http://www.theccc.org.uk/charts–data/ukemissions–by–sector/buildings/), have a great potential to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions and improve the sustainable development in the future. One of the non–neglect issue to reduce the energy use and CO2 emission of building is in the construction phases. The embodied carbon accounting 20–50% of the total ... (Construction Products Association, 2012) Also cradle to grave assessment can be seen as the most comprehensive assessment, but varieties of assumptions need to be made throughout the long timescales. (Nigel H, 1999) In this essay two data sources are using, one is the inventory of carbon and energy (ICE) which focus on the embodied carbon assessment edited by the BSRIA. However, the boundary of ICE is cradle to gate. The other one is the Environment Agency, it is a tool to calculate the emission of the greenhouse gases in the construction. 3.0 building elements Assume that there is a need for a 10m×10m external wall in Cardiff CF14 3UA. Based on CIBSE guide A (1999) to assess the two typical external walls. Dense concrete walls, 19mm render, 200mm dense concrete block, 25mm polyurethane insulation, 12.5mm plasterboard. And Precast concrete panel walls, 80mm dense concreate, 25mm EPS insulation, 100mm dense concreate, 50mm airspace and 12.5mm plasterboard. These two kind of materials has quite similar thermal performance, the dense concrete has 0.90 u–value, while the precast concrete panel has 0.85 u–value. • 4. My Ecological Overshoot 1. An ecological overshoot is when a population exceeds its carrying capacity. Also, it is described as the amount of earths needed to support our specific lifestyle. The consequences of maintaining an ecological overshoot is the damage to different ecosystems and the lack of natural resources such as food, fresh water and the higher prices of manufactured products for the future generations. 2. I would need 2.1 earths to sustain my lifestyle. My ecological footprint is smaller compared to the average American footprint. I have seen that mobility is one of the factors that contribute most to my ecological footprint. For this reason, I have to find ways to transport using ecofriendly options. • 5. Persuasive Essay On Climate Change With climate change leading species to go extinct and causing sea levels to rise, what have our major governments done to prevent all this from happening. In 2006 Al Gore stated that "The voluminous evidence now strongly suggest that unless we act boldly and quickly to deal with the underlying causes of global warming, our world will undergo a string of terrible catastrophes"(An Inconvenient Truth). What Al Gore has said over 10 years ago has become a gruesome reality with many natural disasters affecting major countries and shutting down developing countries completely. If our governments don't take initiative to reduce and prevent climate change, we must make the first move to do something ourselves. But do the actions of us individuals have an effect to something as big as climate change? I believe that the actions of individuals towards the prevention of climate change all have an effect to the greater cause, but the concentration and types of actions such as personal changes, taking alternative transportation, and overall education and awareness of the climate change determine the strength of the effect to it. One thing we can all do to contribute in fighting climate change is reducing our carbon footprint. We may not know it but every single one of us has a carbon footprint and our everyday choices affect on whether or not that footprint will be huge or small. Simple things like driving to work and tossing out spoiled food increase our carbon footprint. One way we as individuals can decrease our carbon footprint is to do/change a few things from our daily routine. One thing we can do is recycle. As simple and generic as it sounds, it creates a big difference. King County solid waste states that "If you throw away even half the paper you use in a year instead of recycling it, you increase your climate pollution by the same amount as driving 526 miles" (King County). Recycling is an absolute way to reduce our carbon output with such little effort. Another way to reduce our footprints is to not waste food. King County also stated that "The average American tosses out 290 pounds of food each year – 25% of what they buy. This results in the same climate pollution as driving 876 miles (Seattle to San ... • 6. Pros And Cons Of Lane Splitting Essay Lane splitting is beneficial to both motorcyclists and other motorists on the roads. Some people say that lane splitting is terrible because it allows motorcyclists to get to places quicker and that's "not fair," but other says that lane splitting is good because it helps everyone on the road, and even the environment. I think lane splitting should be legal in all states because of how it can reduce congestion of traffic, there's a smaller carbon footprint on the environment, and although lane splitting seems all good, there are some stupid people that act dangerously while lane splitting. Lane splitting on a motorcycle is good because it reduces the congestion of traffic. The less motorized vehicles there are in a line of traffic, the shorter the line it's pretty simple. If motorcycles could lane split/filter during rush hour or times that there's a lot of traffic, the line could easily get cut in half depending on how many motorcycles are on the road at that time. With the air we breathe in already being polluted more and more each day, we have to decrease our carbon footprint on the environment. While stopped in traffic your car's engine still runs, meaning depending on how long you sit in traffic, the more carbon is released into the environment. If a motorcycle can lane split, they can get to their destination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some motorcyclists act dangerously while lane splitting as Collin Woodward explains, an editor on CheatSheet.com "When most people think of lane splitting, they usually imagine some guy on a Hayabusa flying down the highway doing 135 miles per hour, clipping the occasional side–view mirror, and generally putting themselves and everybody else at risk of having an accident." Speeding while lane splitting is the number one way riders get injured while lane splitting. A lot of the riders that fly by think that all because a 4 wheel vehicle can't lane split means that it's a lane all to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Global Warming And Its Effects On The Environment Essay There's no argument about it now, global warming exists and is a problem. More and more people are becoming concerned with greenhouse gases' effects on the environment as well as humans' effects on the environment through our carbon footprint. Many activities humans participate in help add to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and increase the size and the effect of the carbon footprint humanity is leaving behind. The carbon footprint is the amount of carbon the humans create as waste through many processes such as the burning of fossil fuels and more. Recycling is one of the first ideas used to combat pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. However, many people still argue recycling's effectiveness and whether the processes are helping and if the processes are worth the money. Recycling helps reduce the carbon footprint by reusing multiple types of materials, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as creating alternative sources of energy. Recycling's main idea is to reuse materials from past products that were already created and are no longer used or just the simple reuse of a product the way it is. The recycling of old materials reduces the need to create or harvest raw materials in which both of those processes release large amounts of greenhouse gases. Most people know of recycling paper and plastic, but many more types of materials can be reused like metals and textiles. B. Zamani, M. Svanström, G. Peters, and T. Rydberg (2015) state that "the reuse of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Food Self Provisioning Food is, quite simply, essential. Without it, life can only exist for a short period of time. How we manage to produce enough food to survive will have an impact on the environment as the food systems we use can both contribute to environmental damage and yet be affected by it in turn (Jehlicka & Raghuram, 2013). Given that agriculture contributes a substantial amount of Greenhouse Gasses (over 50% combined) means that food systems are at the heart of climate change (Jehlicka & Raghuram, 2013). Food systems are the methods by which we produce (farming, agriculture, fishing etc), process (treat, process, package etc), store (ambient, chilled, frozen and housing), transport (locally, regionally, globally, air, sea, land etc) and dispose of items ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Food self–provisioning represents a very different kind of relationship between humans, food and the environment. Food self–provisioning and sharing the excess are generally social practices with low environmental impacts; these, in turn, promote social & community bonds which are compatible with sustainability (Jehlicka, 2013b). It requires little research effort, has no governmental intervention (unless the use of allotments is involved) and practices vary widely around the world. Food self–provisioning is generally environmentally and socially sustainable. It follows that if an individual changes their agency (whether through a change in values or beliefs or out of conscience) and that individual then changes their behaviour, they may set a precedent that others then follow. (Jehlicka, 2013b). Research shows that these practices promote local social, ecological and environmental resilience by strengthening networks of cooperation between families, friends, neighbours and co–workers (Jehlicka, 2013b). Alongside this is the reduction of waste as surplus is distributed amongst networks that encompass urban and rural family and friends, which also has the added benefit of reducing excess resource and energy consumption; this is both socially and environmentally sustainable. It gives practitioners control over what they produce as on a very general level food self–provisioning involves very modest amounts (if any) of fossil fuel–based and/or fertilisers and pesticides. This, along with that fact that little (if any) fossil fuel is used in the transportation of goods as these will mainly distributed locally (Jehlicka, 2013b). Added to this is that products also tend to result in much less packaging and waste; even the methods of preservation whether that be drying, salting, pickling, smoking, fermenting, canning, freezing and dehydrating will often have higher levels of ... • 9. What Aspect Of Your Lifestyle Introduction I have already endeavored to live a lifestyle to help the environment by recycling, driving a more fuel–efficient vehicle, and using more energy efficient technology. That being said, as an individual in the global world, I have much to change in order to reverse the effects of climate change. What aspect of your lifestyle contributed the most to your carbon footprint? In one year's time (9/2/14–9/2/15) my carbon footprint has totaled 14.90 metric tons of Carbon Dioxide (CO2), which comes in slightly below the nation's average (Carbon Footprint Calculator, 2015). The most surprising source of carbon emissions in my day–to–day life were my secondary emissions, specifically my habits regarding food choice, recycling, and typical purchases. After conducting some research, this massive amount of additional carbon emission (7.65 metrics tons, which is more than half of all of my emissions) is most likely due to the shipping requirements of the products I purchase. I buy little to no organic, or locally grown produce, and rather purchase packaged products, which have been shipped trans–nationally over several thousand miles. The immense energy requirements for transportation of food and material goods in the U.S contributes to carbon emissions on a massive scale, for which I am partially to blame. What aspect of your lifestyle contributed the least to your carbon footprint? Overall, the use of my fuel–efficient Honda Civic contributed the least to my carbon ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Climate Change Persuasive Essay OUTLINE: "I recycle my plastic, paper, cans and bottles. I carpool or take a bus to school or work once a week. I turn off lights and unplug electronics when I leave the house. But I question whether my individual efforts have any effect on addressing environmental issues like climate change. What do you think?" What argument would you make to your friend and others in response to the question? Your efforts affect climate change but very slightly. I think the results you are looking for are the type of results you can achieve if you get a big amount of people involved. Individual efforts do make a difference but the strength of the effect if determined by the effort of the individual The things like reduce, reuse, recycle have an effect but in the ever so slightest ways. How would you support the assertion that individual efforts do indeed make a difference? Reduce, reuse, recycle Plant trees Domino effect Get communities involved Beach cleanups How would you advise your friend and others to expand their efforts to address climate change? Get your whole family involved Get community involved Plan beach cleanups Petitions to the government What values would you invoke to support your claims? The actions we make today will affect those in the future, possibly our children and their children's children. • 12. The Impact Of Hybrid Cars On The Environment Possible Solutions The main goal for the following solutions is to reduce CO2 that is continually being pumped into the atmosphere at an unsustainable rate. To reach this goal, humans must work together in order to replace current methods of energy production and human transportation to better fit the earth's needs. The main focus for humans to reduce CO2 emissions is centered on transportation and energy consumption because these two variables are the most impactful on the environment. If eco–friendly energy solutions are adopted along with sustainable means of transportation then it would greatly reduce CO2 emissions and even has the potential to reduce CO2 build up in the atmosphere. Transportation Many people use their owns cars to privately commute long distances without having to sacrifice comfortability. Many car companies have adopted hybrid vehicle production lines to satisfy consumer and environmental needs. The Effects Of Carbon Emission On Climate Change Introduction The world continuously faces a variety of threats every day, from natural disasters to terrorist, but one threat that society predominately contributes to all on their own, is climate change. There are many feasible explanations for the global threat of climate change. These explanations include but are not limited to, the act of deforestation to the rainforest and other trees, green house gas emissions, and sulfate aerosol, which cause poor air quality. It is reported that nearly three quarters of green house gases are a result of humans burning fossil fuels from nonrenewable energy, cars, and electricity (LaMeaux, 2014). • 14. The Effects Of Climate Change On The Environment Essay Recently, global temperature is without a doubt increasing, and there is a very powerful chance that the reason for the heat range change is man made pollution. The alleged cause of this climatic change is the development of carbon dioxide, which blocks solar heat and keeps it from radiating out of the weather. Carbon footprint is a way to evaluate the effect that human actions have on the surroundings through the exhaust of green house gas, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide and chlorofluorocarbon are associated with environment changes and have an effect on the entire atmosphere. Specifically, the more reliant we are on non–renewable energy sources, the larger our carbon footprint is. Regardless of what we think about climate change, we will likely believe that our current ways of life, developments across the world, and the expanding human population are affecting the world. Moreover, there are many ways we can help to reduce carbon footprint releasing in the environment. One of the great cases is how Patagonia has improved above others to sustain the environment. Patagonia is a provider and manufacturer of outdoor equipment. One of the early environmental actions the organization started was the marketing of organically produce cotton. Many people still do not put much though into this topic or pay any attention to the amount of energy they use or where it comes from. For some it is just willful negligence, but for many others it may be due to a lack of knowledge on the subject. Perhaps it is a good idea to pay closer attention and educate ourselves so we can make informed decisions that may lead to less stress on our wallets and on our environment. In order to make a change, we should observe our currently used energy sources in everyday life, the impact of increasing energy uses, and observe all of the alternative options available to us. In my everyday life, some energy sources I commonly use are natural gas, electricity, and oil. Natural gas is used to heat my home and cook meals in the kitchen. Electricity is used all over my house to light a room or power electronics. I use oil almost daily when I drive my car, although luckily I usually do not have to drive very far. None of these that I use are renewable energy sources. The oil and natural gas are examples of fossil energy. Electricity often is generated through the conversion of other energy sources, such as fossil fuels, which makes it a secondary energy source (Energy Sources, n.d.). I often do not put much thought into my energy uses, as I usually take it for granted. One of the biggest impacts of increased energy needs is the amount of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though the large Fortune 500 companies focus on reduction of their own carbon footprints, individuals can help in their own small way as well. But what is a carbon footprint? This isn't to suggest that industrial farming is healthier; just that it leaves less of an organic footprint than its organic counterpart. But what can people do to ensure that they're not leaving a larger carbon footprint? One suggestion is to plant a vegetable garden – Prieznitz (2008) goes so far as to suggest tearing up one's entire backyard and turning the entire acreage into a veggie garden. This is because there would be no lawn mowing (meaning no gasoline used) and no chemicals used that make green lawns (and that end up contaminating groundwater). While Priesnitz's suggestion is a little over–the–top – few people have time to cultivate and maintain an entire backyard of vegetables – using part of a backyard to grow vegetables would reduce a person's carbon footprint (not to mention would help feed that person's family for awhile). Priesnitz suggests that any grass remaining can be maintained with a push mower. Other ways to reduce carbon footprints are to energy–proof a home (Reysa, 2008). Gary Reysa points out that home energy improvements not only save a family on energy bills, but are also easy and inexpensive to implement. For one thing, simple lifestyle changes can save kilowatts of electricity. One of these involves turning off the lights and electrical appliances when leaving a room. Shutting off computers can save watts – turning them off at night, and having them hibernate during the day if not in use is a good way to save energy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The size of our carbon footprint depends on what people do daily, and can be caused either directly or indirectly. Thought it is impossible to not have a carbon footprint at all, we can still reduce the amount of carbon dioxide we produce everyday. (Source 1) One reason why our carbon footprint plays an important role in the world, is because we can raise awareness to how much damage and harm we are causing the Earth unintentionally. (Source 1) Without carbon footprints, we won't be able to tell how much carbon dioxide we are leaving behind and producing. According to Source 1, "Carbon Dioxide is known as greenhouse gas, which scientists believe to be one of the contributing factors to the warming of the Earth, or better known as global warming." In terms of a layman, the answer would be, basically it's the population that creates pollution nuisance in environment with the emission of various gases, wherein the major portion lies with the Carbon Dioxide Co2 which is involved vigorously in creating Global warming. Who is accountable for Global Warming? Well the responsibility lays in us the "humans" OR calls ourselves the "devastators". With the each scientific discovery and technology we get close to the "development" and closer to the "devastation and disaster". The amount of pace we are travelling it puts in doubt if there will be a healthy environment left for coming generation or just the life full with intoxication? This is only one of many examples of how we waste power and Carbon dioxide. Almost everything we do releases carbon dioxide emissions, and in different amounts. We can save money and CO2 by reducing our carbon footprints, which is the total quantity of greenhouse gases that someone produces. Although we don't think about them very often, a carbon footprint is part of everyone's life because it's measured on things we use, our actions create and waste CO2, and several people have worked to find energy saving ways to reduce them and help the environment. A carbon footprint is measured by using several different variables about someone's lifestyle. It's important to note that depending on where someone may live influences their impact on their carbon footprint. Just as Stephanie Pappas mentioned; "In California, for example, electricity generation is relatively climate–friendly, so focusing on vehicular emissions has a greater impact". Using an online calculator can show anyone how much CO2 they use on average, by answering the questions provided. • 27. The Critical Implications Of Climate Change For Business What are the critical implications of climate change for business? A business plays a heavy and critical role in the contribution to global climate change. Suzanne Goldberg (2013) reports that only 90 companies worldwide caused two–thirds of the man–made global warming emissions. Oil, coal and gas companies are the major players in the global climate change crisis of the 21st century (Goldberg 2013). Companies such as Chevron, Exxon and BP are three of the highest contributors of greenhouse gas emissions. A staggering statistic from Suzanne Goldberg (2013) states that half of the total global emissions were produced in the past twenty–five years; which is a long time before governments and corporations became aware that the burning of coal and oil were causing dangerous green house gas emissions. Businesses can now choose to run their companies sustainably and this in turn, will help reduce the effects of climate change. A critical implication for business is that if they do not reduce greenhouse gas emission they will be slowly transitioned out of the industry. For companies recognizing the need to change, one option is to operate as carbon neutral. By operating as a carbon neutral company they will be aiming to reduce their carbon emissions to zero (Carbon Neutral 2010; Australian Government n.d). To become a carbon neutral company they must first measure their carbon footprint and then reduce emissions, then offset any remaining and unavoidable emissions. It is quite ... The extremely porous walls allow ventilation and cooling systems, due to outside air being able to permeate the entire structure. Hypothesis: Modeling houses, offices, malls and other large buildings according to the principles of termite mounds would serve as a sustainable solution, as it would save money and decrease the amount of energy consumption. ... The Effect Everyones Carbon Footprint Is Having On The The effect everyones carbon footprint is having on the environment Carbon footprint is the measure of the amount of plant resources you use. The more your carbon footprint goes up, the more effect it has on the environment. Everyday people are doing actives that are producing greenhouse gas emissions. If one sees their greenhouse gas emission going up, that means that there will be an increase in climate change which will then lead to global warming. Your carbon footprint has a huge effect on not only you but also the environment, human life and wildlife. This is why your carbon foot is important, it has an effect on everything around you. Some people might not know the effects of carbon footprint, what contributes to your carbon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You can also drive less, take shorter showers, save paper and lots of other things to help reduce ones carbon footprint. When it comes to traveling take a bike instead of your car or if you 're flying look for nonstop flights, because therefore you will be producing less greenhouse gas emissions compared to connecting flights. There are many things that contributed yo your carbon footprint. This is the easiest thing about your carbon footprint, and that is measuring your direct emissions. Everything that you own and everything in your house, dorm apartment has all been produced by greenhouse gasses. Everything you have has gone through the process emits C02 because it has been shipped in order to get to you or the store that you bought it from. This includes the hats you wear, your TV, your fan, toys, appliances and all the other things you own. Food is also including in having an effect on your carbon footprint. Beef is an example of a food that contributes to your carbon footprint because it comes from cattle and that is where methane is being produced which is a powerful greenhouse gas in their digestive system. Gain is one of the main foods that is being fed to cattle, and so therefore that produces carbon emissions from the chemicals that are being used to grow it and then gas is being burned to transport it (money crashers). It is proven that a vegetarian diet produces less C02 then a meat diet (live–strong). This is showing that having a vegetarian diet can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Civic Issues In Canada The civic issue that I've chosen for this assignment is the increased pollution in Canada. The reason I chose this issue is because throughout this course, I've been very passionate about climate change and I really wanted my last project to take the same focus as well. Additionally, there are many reasonable policies like carbon taxes, which will truly help Canada become more environmentally sustainable. However, many citizens are still not convinced about the urgency of climate change and I'd like to change their minds. The change I'd like to see is that big corporate companies, like Essar Algoma and U.S steel pay carbon taxes. Having to pay money for every ton of pollutants released, will give companies the incentive to reduce their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, when I get my license this summer, I can provide carpooling services to others in my area. Not only will this reduce the carbon footprint of my entire neighborhood, it'll also give a break for the parents. My main goal in carrying out this action would be saving gas and reducing carbon emissions. Since I'm only 16 right now, the best I can do is choose wise methods of transportation and spread awareness. The level of government I need to consult with my issue is the federal government, as it deals with climate and it impacts all of Canada. And the representative of environment and climate change in Canada is Catherine McKenna. Currently, the Canadian government is taking several initiatives to control climate change. In 2017, Canada signed the Paris Accord and agreed to cut 30% of carbon emissions by 2030. The most important stakeholder in the this issue are animals, as they are currently facing the most lethal impacts of climate change. And one very important group that has been working very hard to deal with environmental issues is the Climate Action ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Climate Change In Australia Introduction: contextualises the essay by explaining aspects of Global Climate Change including variation in climate over time Climate change is a change in the pattern of weather, and related changes in oceans, land surfaces and ice sheets, occurring over time. Australia faces significant environmental and economic impacts from climate change across several sectors, including water security, agriculture, coastal communities, and infrastructure. Australia has already experienced increases in average temperatures over the past 60 years, with more frequent hot weather, fewer cold days, shifting rainfall patterns and rising sea levels. This changing climate represents an unfavourable challenge to individuals, businesses and industries and will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For financial reasons, Woolworth's would be encouraged to devise strategies and plans to become more sustainable and to reduce their carbon footprint. Woolworth's would set targets and commitments for the company to effectively help improve its environmental sustainability. In addition, Australian companies could be obligated to commit agreements regarding climate change with international organisations such as The Untied Nations or Greenpeace. Further, it could become compulsory for Australian companies to provide information on their carbon footprint to the government and conceive schemes in relation to reducing their carbon emissions by a certain period. Additionally, in every supermarket, it could become mandatory for an Eco Ambassador to be appointed to provide employees with the resources, skills and knowledge to promote sustainable behaviours. Thus, actions such as introducing carbon tax, obligating Australian companies to enact climate change agreements with organisations and making it compulsory for Australian companies to select a temporary Eco Ambassador will successfully reduce Australian company's carbon ... • 37. Persuasive Essay On Climate Change Climate Change Climate change is a problem worldwide, scientist and citizens are concerned of the effects climate change could have on the world. There is so much evidence that climate change exist so we need to find a way to stop climate change so the effects of climate change won't happen. We soon learned that the cause of climate change could have been through greenhouse gases. There are different types of greenhouse gases, but the one we're going to talk about is carbon dioxide. Greenhouse gases (which are located below the atmosphere) are gases that allow light from the sun to pass through the gases and some light/heat back out into space, but a certain amount of light gets trapped on the earth. This is called the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the reason we have heat on earth, without the gases the earth averagely be below zero degrees. So we do need greenhouse gases, but if there is too much there won't be enough heat to escape out into space making this a global issue. So if there are multiple type of gases that trap heat making the earth warmer why talk about carbon dioxide specifically when there are other greenhouse gases. That is because there are more carbon dioxide when it comes to greenhouse gas emissions, this because of fossil fuels and industrial processes(note that the picture is on the right is from 2010). The best solution to reducing greenhouse gases ourselves is simple; it is recycling. Now at first this may seem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. How A Carbon Footprint Is The Total Amount Of Greenhouse... According to timeforchange.org, a carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly and indirectly support human activities, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide. Before starting this project I was unaware of what a carbon footprint was but as I learned more about it I was interested to see what mine would be. The first section to calculate my carbon footprint was how much energy I consume. As a freshman in college living in a dorm I use $600 worth of electricity which is a total of 2.82 tonnes of CO2e. Next was flights. Over the past year I have taken one vacation and it was to Providencials Turks and Caicos. It was a direct flight that took me from JFK airport to an airport in Turks and Caicos. This trip used .41 tonnes of CO2e. The third section was cars. I drive a Mercedes–Benz GLK 350 4 matic that I drove everyday to school and dance, both in Ocean City, New Jersey. It is about 10 miles from my house to Ocean City High School and I would go to dance everyday after school which was right around the corner. For the entire school year this added up to be 4,080 miles. In the summer I also worked in Ocean City which ended up being the same amount of miles. These car rides plus a few extra ones I put in 9,000 miles for my miles driven. This total was one of my highest ones with 4.87 tonnes being used. I never use motorbikes or public transportation so that gave me a total of 0 tonnes for the two of them. That is a huge benefit to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Going Carbon Neutrality: One Solution to Climate Change Going carbon neutrality: one solution to climate change Introduction Climate change is a major concern of the global community. The Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR4) stated that global surface temperature have increased by about 0.74 ◦C between 1906 and 2005. Extreme high temperature events have become more frequent and more intense in recent years in some regions. Many organization and individuals are highly concerned about climate change and want to make their own actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Purchasing carbon offsets and going carbon neutrality is one way to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Carbon offset and carbon neutrality Carbon offsets are credits that can be purchased by individual, organization or country to cancel out the carbon footprint they produce during their daily life or production process. Each carbon credit is equal to one tons of carbon dioxide either cut down from the emissions or eliminated from the atmosphere. When the person or the organization is first purchased carbon credits, they should make sure that they have bought quality offsets. For example, they must make sure that they can check the project data and verify that the carbon reductions are true and supposable. When the amount of carbon offsets gained is equal to an individual, organization or country's carbon footprint, that person, organization or country is carbon neutrality. Carbon ... • 40. Milk Packaging Essay . Bio–degradable Plastic for Milk Packaging This type of bio–plastic is made up of petroleum. So, this type of bio–plastic also produces CO2 at the time of manufacturing. But this type of bio–plastic degrades automatically in the soil and water within few days to few months depending upon environmental conditions. It helps in waste management, as this type of plastic degrades automatically in the environment and thus no need for incineration process. As per different study reports, when we burn 1 kg of plastic, .670 kg to 4.600 kg of CO2 is produced. This produced CO2 highly depends on environmental conditions and temperature of incineration. Problem of land filling is also reduced as this plastic degrades in less time in the environment. In this project, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sample calculation of carbon footprint from total milk pouch packaging in one year There are many type of milk packaging which are used from old days like glass bottle, plastics bottles, tetra pack all have their own importance but these have some disadvantages too, so now a days plastic pouches packaging is most suitable for milk packaging due to its advantages over other packaging medium, like easy to handle, low in cost, less in weight etc. Approximately, 30–35% of milk is used in direct form, rest of milk is packed in various packaging form, like Glass bottle, Plastic bottle, Tetra pack, plastic pouch etc. As per data from total milk production 146.3 million tons, approximately 40 million tons milk is used for packaging milk for drinking purpose. This milk is packed in half litter and one litter pouches, which are made of conventional plastics (Low–density polyethylene and Linear low density polyethylene).
