been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting
The setting is post-apocalyptic America when character Ellie runs away from her
guide and main character Joel after finding out she has to go with tommy Joel’s
brother the rest of the journey. When Joel finds Ellie an argument breaks out and
the mood kicks in but changes when Ellie mentions Joel’s daughter who died early in
the game
There was not much sound for the setting as they
were in a small room with the odd sound of
footsteps.
Mood
There is a very tense mood between the two characters in this scene with signs of
anger and sorrow making the player feels disheartened. It is a sad scene because it
threatens to change the story line for the worse. Joel is showing little emotion and is
seen as a bad guy in this scene.
The song played in this scene affected the mood
as the slow acoustic guitar sound set a very sad
mood with the change of tone in the voices when
the music started to play.
Game genre
The game genre is a 3rd person action adventure survival/ horror game
Narrative
Ellie starts talking about what the world was like before the apocalypse after
reading a diary and Joel tells Ellie they are leaving and that she is going to split up
Ellie was going to go the rest of the way with Tommy this causes an argument
between them because Ellie refuses to go and says she can handle herself. She then
mentions Joel’s Daughter sparking a lot of emotions but are interrupted when
bandits invade the place they are.
The music is to show the emotions building up in
the scene because they just want to survive but
have different opinions on the mater.
The controlled studio recordings of the voice
allow the dialog of the characters to be clear. You
can hear the emotion in their voices and you can
recognise when the mood changes.
