5. Q1) Are you male or female?
As you can see the people that did
my survey were mainly female, as
63% were female and 36% male.
6. Q2) What is your age?
• The majority of the people that
completed my survey were aged
17 (35%) or aged 20+ (24%).
• The age range is good because I
can get a range of opinions and
views about music videos so I
know who likes what and if it s
because of their age for
example.
7. Q3) How often do you watch music videos?
• From this research I can see that
the majority of people watch
music videos everyday or once
or twice a week
• This is positive feedback as I
know that people are interested
in music videos and enjoy
watching them
• Only 12% of people said that
they never watch it which is a
minority.
8. Q4) What genre of music do you listen to the most?
From this I can see that people listen to the
genre pop the most which doesn’t come as a
surprise because the majority of teenagers
are familiar with this genre of music.
Indie is 14% of people which isn’t the lowest.
I’m choosing to use the Indie genre of music
as it’s not the most popular but people still
listen to it and are familiar with it.
There’s high expectations for the Pop genre
of music and a lot of Pop music is quite
consumerised these days and tend to be abit
similar, I want to push the boundaries and do
Indie genre of music for my music video.
9. Q5) What (if anything) do you like about music videos?
I asked the audience who did my survey
what they liked about music videos and
some of the results as you can see on the
left were very helpful.
I can use this when planning what I’ll do
with my music video as it’s important to
think of audience when creating my music
video as they will be the ones that will
watch it.
The majority of comments were about
the story that the music video creates and
the narrative that runs through it else it
won’t be clear and won’t be effective
either.
10. Q6) What (if anything) do you dislike about music videos?
This is helpful when I’m planning
what I want to do for my music video
as I can see what people don’t like
and can avoid doing this to make
sure it appeals to as many people as
possible.
A common theme from this research
was that a lot of music videos these
days are sexual and are too obsessed
with sexual image as they know
people talk about that and that gets
people to watch the music video and
download the song.
Yet, a lot of people now are realising
that isn’t the case and it’s not
appealing hence why I won’t be
focusing on putting that into my
music video.
11. Q7) After watching a music video if you could download
the song would you?
• This research is positive as 80%
of the respondants who did this
survey said that they would
download the song if they could
after watching a music video
• This reveals that music videos
have an impact on people and
make them like the song and
download it
12. Q8) Do you listen to the Indie music genre? (London
Grammar, Birdy etc.)
• This is also positive feedback as
21% of people said they listen to
the Indie genre all the time and
63% said sometimes. Only 15%
of people said they never watch
music videos
• Therefore I know that people
listen to the music genre we
want to do or have at least
sometimes listened to it so we
can then appeal and reach out
to lots of people with our music
video
13. Q9) Where do you watch music videos the most?
• Finally, 57% of people said that
they watch music videos the most
on their smartphone, 14% on a
tablet and 36% on a laptop.
• We know from this that when we
have our music video and are going
to upload it we have to make sure
it can be accessed from different
media platforms and technology as
a lot of people watch them through
different technology. So we want to
give lots of people the chance to
watch it and talk about it.
