1. Q8). Who does the trailer
represent? Social groups, age,
gender, ethnicity? Who will you
represent in yours? (consider
stereotypes)
2. In The Blair Witch Project they have specific social groups the characters are
all American teenagers, college students. This is a very usual, familiar social
group to represent in horror films, this is because it’s mostly young adults and
teenagers who enjoy horror films. The age range for The Blair Witch
characters represented would be 16-19 years old. They are middle class
students who are from America. There is one girl, who is the main character
and 2 boys although there are other characters in the film who are people
they interview about The Blair Witch.
This social group inspired me and my group to do a found footage film trailer
ourselves which features us; 4 young teenage students, similar to The Blair
With Project.
3. Characters in The Blair Witch Project
These are the 3 students in the film.
Although these are the main characters
we do see other characters such as the
people that these students interview
asking them about their knowledge on
The Blair Witch.
4. In the Cannibal Holocaust the social groups represented are American
soldiers and African Tribe People. Most of the characters are in their late 20’s
or older and there are both men and women. They represent the American
soldiers are brutal and nasty and the African tribe people as vulnerable but at
the same time it shows them eating someone’s fingers which make the
audience think that they are savage and nasty people when that is just how
they survive.
The American soldiers in the matching, clean uniform whereas the native
people have hardly any clothes, some are naked. They are dirty.
American shown as brutal/nasty and that the tribe people are vulnerable
where they aren't as developed as them etc. but nearer the end of the film
we learn that it’s the other way round as we see the native people
gruesomely eating another humans body parts and shows the American
soldiers as just doing their job/role.
5. Characters in Cannibal Holocaust
The top two pictures show the Native
people in the film and the bottom picture
shows the American soldiers in the film.
These are really the only characters in the
film.
6. In our film trailer Me (Kat), Abbie, Beth and Jack represent late youth,
Caucasian teenagers from the United Kingdom. We are all middle class
students. In our group there are 3 girls and 1 boy.
We have stereotypes in our trailer of young teenagers from the current
generation who enjoy themselves and are fun, lively and bubbly.
