Brief biographical background –
jamie Adenuga was born on the 4th of May 1985, however is better known by his stage name Jme. He is
an English grime MC. He is the co-founder (with his brother Joseph Junior Adenuga also know as
Skepta) of the crew and label Boy Better Know. Jamie was previously part of the grime crew Meridian
along with his brother, Joseph Adenuga (also known as Skepta). As well as working with Boy Better
Know, Adenuga now focuses mainly on his own solo ambitions. He is known for his comedic rapping
style.[citation needed]
In October 2008, he became one of a small number of unsigned artists to headline at the London
Astoria.[4] As his fanbase has grown, Jme has travelled throughout Europe and North America with Tim
Westwood to perform

Genre info –
Grime is a genre of music that originated in London (East London, East-end) in the early 2000s. It
merged/was created out a range of different music styles/genres such as Rap, UK garage, jungle, 2-
step, dancehall, drum and bass, ragga and electro. Grime is also influenced by Jamaican dancehall,
ragga, and hip hop. The music is normally rapid, syncopated breakbeats and often features an
aggressive or jagged electronic sound. Rapping is also a significant part of grime and the lyrics are often
a gritty depictions of urban/street life.

I will have a long shot mixed with quick cutting scenes.
Similar to the video I will preform into the camera. It will
have parts of literal interpretation, however most of it
wont be like this. It wont have any narrative (a part from
the literal interpretation). It will follow the genre
conventions.

You need to assess the viability of your production and
investigate what is required to enable you to make your
music video
Much of this task is hypothetical, which means you will
need to investigate standard costings for such a
production and apply these to your planned production
considering which equipment you would need and
resources, etc
Resources to support this are in the Pre-production
assessment folder on Blackboard
Delete the questions on each slide and insert your
responses
GUIDANCE:
BUDGET TARGET
You have provisionally given an outline target of £2000
to make your music video
This target should include a 10% contingency [that
means your budget should allow for £200 pounds within
the budget – so realistically you aim lower than £1800]
Your budget should account for everything, except your
own time and input
Consider more than one option to solve a requirement –
you may be able to balance your budget later, there will
have to be a compromise somewhere

TIME
You will need to plan a schedule for the pre-
production/production/post-production
Nominally you should work on 2 weeks pre-production,
1 week filming [2 college days – Mon./Tues first week
after half term] and 2 weeks edit/post-production

You need to identify locations and plan a recce.
What are the limitations and risks, eg distance, access,
cost, weather? How will you manage this?
Studio – The shot that I want/need in/from the studio are
relatively easy. The shots I will need are the hooks from
the song.
Streets – the shots I need are long lasting shot
preforming into the camera
Car park – the shots I need are long lasting shot
preforming into the camera
Woods - the shots I need are long lasting shot
preforming into the camera
EQUIPMENT
Camera – for the camera I have two options. I can hire a
Canon EOS 5D MkIII for £64.00 per day or a Canon EOS
C100 for £75.00 per day.
Canon EOS 5D – The Canon EOS 5D is a High-quality
performance camera, even in low lighting situations. The
camera has High-speed continuous shooting and a High
dynamic range imaging. The camera shoots Full-HD
video with manual control. It has In-camera editing
functions and is Built to go anywhere and everywhere I
may/need to take it. The camera on average costs
£64.00 per day to hire and with all the features it has
and for what I need the camera for/to do make it very
likely that I will use/hire the camera.
LENSES
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM
The canon EF 24-70mm lens is an idea lens to use/have
for my music video because the lens work well with
medium and close up shots.
The lens at 24 mm also offers wide angle shots that
could be useful for establishing shot to revealing or help
show my location.
Being canons flagship lens, this bare the L logo with
stands for luxury. This means it has higher quality image
production compared to other lens in the range.
The lens itself cost £48.00 for 3 days which seems
resalable for the quality's it has and will be more then
suitable for what I need it for.
GRIP EQUIPMENT
Manfrotto Fluid Tripod
The Manfrotto fluid tripod is perfect for what I need for
my music video.
It works for keeping the camera stable and in one
position for the whole time its being used, something
that is hard to do by hand.
The tripod will only need to be used for a short time (the
choruses) and so for £8.00 per day to hire this is perfect.
FACILITIES
Where will you edit your video? Do you need any other
specialist facilities…?
For editing facilities I will need a editing suite. Normally
editing suites cost on average £180. this is expensive,
however this is an important part of the video video.

PERSONNEL
My cast and crew will consisted of the same people as I
want to keep it small and keep the feeling of
authenticity. However if needed I can hire people who
know how to preform the task I want them to
(https://www.peopleperhour.com). I can work/have
access to people who know how to use cameras and can
film well who will be available. I also have access to
people who can preform and if for whatever reason I
need I can hire people (from the same website). The
people who might need to be hired are relatively cheap
and food can be provided for them. Transport might be
an issue if they need it.
PROPS/COSTUME/ETC
I will be using a mask in my music video.
I will be creating and printing this using the facilities at
college, therefore the cost of this will be 12p for a colour
print and some string which I can source for free from
the art department.
All other props and costumes will be sourced from what I
already own. I have informed actors in my video to wear
suitable clothing from their current collection.

Yes, I would require permission for the songs I am using.
I will get in touch with PRS to get clearance for my chosen
song: https://www.prsformusic.com/licences
I may have actors who are under the age of 18, therefore
I will require written consent forms from their parents to
give permission for them to appear in my final video.
These will be in the form of permission/release forms.

If I had to use actors and a camera operator for
my video, the total daily cost would rise to
£162.20. I would also need to factor in costs
such as fuel, transport and food. Final cost could
be nearer to £180. Including contingency, it
would be £200 a day.

STRUCTURAL
BREAKDOWN
Breakdown your track into it basic sections [e.g. intro,
verse, chorus, verse, etc] and apply broad visual ideas to
each section
You can use this as the master template for your
production, then add more shots to each section when
you develop your full visual plan
You should create a slide showing all the sections of the
song, then add a slide for each section with timings,
lyrics, what happens and details on specific shots
You could storyboard and shot list each section as you
go, to break up the process.

Provide an idea of the sequencing of you video
Provides a basis for production

You should have address details, clearance/premissions
for filming, recce photos and floorplans [including
camera, equipment and cast/crew layouts]
Where possible, have a plan B fallback location option
Assess each location for any issues and suggest
solutions

Risk Assess each separate filming location using the
table in the camera H&S PP on Bb as a staring point
Completing a generic filming assessment would be a
start, then you can add specialist/site specific risks as
you progress your production
Remember, a Risk Assessment is an ongoing document,
you should evaluate if anything changes in production
and when you put control measures in place
You should add the table to each call sheet for each
location

Your contingency plan is there to give you a backup or to
minimise the effect on production
You should consider the following areas: Technical,
Location, Personnel and Organisational areas [about 5
potential issues for each]

effect like the actually music video is.

Provide an outline of what you will do on which days
during production
You should broadly plan to the following structure:
- 2 weeks pre-production
- 1 week filming [plan for up to 2 days]
- 2 weeks editing [essentially 2 days for every day you
filmed]

He is an English grime MC. He is the co-founder (with his brother Joseph Junior Adenuga also know as Skepta) of the crew and label Boy Better Know. Jamie was previously part of the grime crew Meridian along with his brother, Joseph Adenuga (also known as Skepta). As well as working with Boy Better Know, Adenuga now focuses mainly on his own solo ambitions. He is known for his comedic rapping style.[citation needed] In October 2008, he became one of a small number of unsigned artists to headline at the London Astoria.[4] As his fanbase has grown, Jme has travelled throughout Europe and North America with Tim Westwood to perform Links to other artists - Boy Better Know, Meridian Crew, Skepta, Wiley, Jammer, D Double E, Meridian Dan, Tempa T, Giggs, Frisco, Solo 45, Tim Westwood Genre info – Grime is a genre of music that originated in London (East London, East-end) in the early 2000s. Similar to the video I will preform into the camera. It will have parts of literal interpretation, however most of it wont be like this. It wont have any narrative (a part from the literal interpretation). It will follow the genre conventions.

GUIDANCE: PRE-PRODUCTION ASSESSMENT You need to assess the viability of your production and investigate what is required to enable you to make your music video Much of this task is hypothetical, which means you will need to investigate standard costings for such a production and apply these to your planned production considering which equipment you would need and resources, etc Resources to support this are in the Pre-production assessment folder on Blackboard Delete the questions on each slide and insert your responses

GUIDANCE: BUDGET TARGET You have provisionally given an outline target of £2000 to make your music video This target should include a 10% contingency [that means your budget should allow for £200 pounds within the budget – so realistically you aim lower than £1800] Your budget should account for everything, except your own time and input Consider more than one option to solve a requirement – you may be able to balance your budget later, there will have to be a compromise somewhere

GUIDANCE: TIME You will need to plan a schedule for the pre- production/production/post-production Nominally you should work on 2 weeks pre-production, 1 week filming [2 college days – Mon./Tues first week after half term] and 2 weeks edit/post-production Who is going to do what? How will you split the time? When can you film? What is the availability of the equipment/resources/locations/personnel? What problems can you foresee? How will you overcome them?

  • 29. LOCATIONS You need to identify locations and plan a recce. What are the limitations and risks, eg distance, access, cost, weather? How will you manage this? Studio – The shot that I want/need in/from the studio are relatively easy. The shots I will need are the hooks from the song.   • 30. EQUIPMENT Camera – for the camera I have two options. I can hire a Canon EOS 5D MkIII for £64.00 per day or a Canon EOS C100 for £75.00 per day. Canon EOS 5D – The Canon EOS 5D is a High-quality performance camera, even in low lighting situations. The camera has High-speed continuous shooting and a High dynamic range imaging. The camera shoots Full-HD video with manual control. It has In-camera editing functions and is Built to go anywhere and everywhere I may/need to take it. The camera on average costs £64.00 per day to hire and with all the features it has and for what I need the camera for/to do make it very likely that I will use/hire the camera.
  • 31. LENSES Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM The canon EF 24-70mm lens is an idea lens to use/have for my music video because the lens work well with medium and close up shots. The lens at 24 mm also offers wide angle shots that could be useful for establishing shot to revealing or help show my location. Being canons flagship lens, this bare the L logo with stands for luxury. This means it has higher quality image production compared to other lens in the range. The lens itself cost £48.00 for 3 days which seems resalable for the quality's it has and will be more then suitable for what I need it for.
  • 32. GRIP EQUIPMENT Manfrotto Fluid Tripod The Manfrotto fluid tripod is perfect for what I need for my music video. It works for keeping the camera stable and in one position for the whole time its being used, something that is hard to do by hand. The tripod will only need to be used for a short time (the choruses) and so for £8.00 per day to hire this is perfect.
  • 33. FACILITIES Where will you edit your video? Do you need any other specialist facilities…? For editing facilities I will need a editing suite.   • 34. PERSONNEL My cast and crew will consisted of the same people as I want to keep it small and keep the feeling of authenticity. However if needed I can hire people who know how to preform the task I want them to (https://www.peopleperhour.com). I can work/have access to people who know how to use cameras and can film well who will be available. I also have access to people who can preform and if for whatever reason I need I can hire people (from the same website). The people who might need to be hired are relatively cheap and food can be provided for them. Transport might be an issue if they need it.
  • 35. PROPS/COSTUME/ETC I will be using a mask in my music video. I will be creating and printing this using the facilities at college, therefore the cost of this will be 12p for a colour print and some string which I can source for free from the art department. All other props and costumes will be sourced from what I already own. I have informed actors in my video to wear suitable clothing from their current collection.
  • 36. CODES OF PRACTICE AND REGULATIONS Yes, I would require permission for the songs I am using. I will get in touch with PRS to get clearance for my chosen song: https://www.prsformusic.com/licences I may have actors who are under the age of 18, therefore I will require written consent forms from their parents to give permission for them to appear in my final video. These will be in the form of permission/release forms.

STRUCTURAL BREAKDOWN Breakdown your track into it basic sections [e.g. intro, verse, chorus, verse, etc] and apply broad visual ideas to each section You can use this as the master template for your production, then add more shots to each section when you develop your full visual plan You should create a slide showing all the sections of the song, then add a slide for each section with timings, lyrics, what happens and details on specific shots You could storyboard and shot list each section as you go, to break up the process.
