Digital Graphic Narrative Planning
Use this booklet to help structure your planning and collate your planning documents.
Considerations:
There are lots of things to consider in this project. Fill out each section in detail to show you have thought about each one. You
should imagine that this is a live project, so considerations like cost, quantity and codes of practice must be thought about in that
context rather than just as a college project.
Costs:
The cost of the project is nothing as everything I need to create m project is provide by college and there is
nothing that I need like speciality inks and I have no locations that I what to visit for backgrounds etc. So there
is no transport/travelling costs.
Available resources:
The available resources are mac’s, Photoshop, internet, PowerPoint, word, pens, pencils, paper.
Quantity:
The quantity that I would thing about creating would be about 10,000 because the book would be sold across
the country and enough copy’s would have to be made to meet the demands.
Audience and Target Market:
The target audience will be 3 to 7 as this age is the most likely to read/be interested in fairy tales. It would also
have to somewhat appeal to parents as they are going to be the ones buy it for their kids. The book is going to
appeal to both males and females as the story isn’t made and enjoyed more by males or females.
Quality Factors:
In order to make sure that my work is as good as I could/can possible get it to be I will make sure that I have
fully and properly planned everything out so that I know what I’m doing and not wasting time. This will also
help time management so that I’m not wasting time and finish on time and meet deadlines. I will also avoid
thing that I have struggled with/ didn’t turn out very well in past projects.
Codes of Practice:
To ensure that I follow the code of practice I will not use anyone else work to avoid copyright. i will make sure
that all my work it’s a the same high quality from start to finish and is finished and ready on time as if I was
work with a publisher this would be important and fall under the rules and regulations on how publishers
should interact with authors.
Regulation:
To follow the regulation I will ensure that there is nothing that could be dangerous on/in the book. As I
example; pop up book and similar book/toys have to follow and obey the toy safely directive 2009/48/EC. I will
also make sure that there is nothing that could be deemed offence/ could offend anyone.
Copyright:
I will no use anyone else work as that would be copyright. Also as the story has been source online on a free
website that allow people to use with no copyright issue there are no issue there. Also the story has been
changed it parts make the use of it ok.
Ethical Issues:
So ensure there are no ethical issues the book will contain nothing that could offend/discriminate any culture
or race. Also as it is a children’s book there could be no thing that would/could be inappropriate.
Resources:
A successful project relies on good planning. Considering all the resources you will need for a project and then assessing which
you already have and which you need will help ensure you are ready to start your project.
If there is a resource you don’t currently have, then consider how you are going to get it before you go in to production.

Do you have

Production Schedule:
Delivering your project on time is vital. In order to do this, you need a solid plan of action. This will help you divide up your work in
to manageable chunks to be tackled one at a time. It will also allow you to plan which tasks need to be done in which order. It will
also allow you to track your progress each day. If you are falling behind, you will need to modify the way you work. If you work
faster than expected, you can clearly see what the next steps you need to take are.
Each session is a half day of college.

Health and safety:
Your health and safety and that of those around you is very important. Just like in industry, an accident could prevent you from
working. Whilst we don’t work in a highly dangerous environment, there are still risks. Some are short term, such as trips and
spillages whilst others, such as long term damage to eyesight or back problems, may affect you much later in life.
Consider the risks based on the activities you will be undertaking during the project. Explain how you could prevent them from
happening.
Ensure you reference appropriate pieces of legislation, design to protect people at work.
Health and Safety Issue How can you prevent it?
Back pains

every hour at the computer. Also have your chair and

way. Make sure there are no wires on the floor.
Electrocution
Make sure all drink (there should only be water) is sealed
and not kept near computers if there is a broken wire do
not touch it and tell the relevant person for it to be
fixed/replaced
Wrist problems/injury
Take a regular 5-minute break from the computer for
every hour at the computer. Also adjusting the height/
