2. THE SITE
-It is an area composed of 127 islands,
islets and rocks, 97% of the total
emerged surface, it was declared
National Park in 1959.
-It’s located in the line of Ecuador,
1,000 Km from the Ecuador beaches.
-In 1978 the Galápagos area, which is
now comprised of 19 islands and the
surrounding marine reserve, became the
first site to be placed on the World
Heritage List .
-It was listed for the biodiversity, for
the tropical forest and the maritimes
species.
-The islands are only a tourist attraction
of Ecuador.
