6. San Cristobal Island
The easternmost island of the archipelago of the Galapagos
Islands in Ecuador.
7. GENERAL DATA
Its official name in Spanish, 'San Cristobal', comes from
the patron saint of sailors, St. Kitts (Christopher).

lies at the southwestern end of the island.
This island hosts frigate birds, sea lions, Galapagos

10. CHARACTERISTIC:
It was founded in 1959 and became the first national
park in the country.
It is covering about 7995.4 square kilometers, 97% of the
Galapagos Islands.

endemic plants.
12. OFLORA
Its vegetation includes Calandrinia galapagosa, Lecocarpus
darwinii and trees such as Lignum vitae or Matazarna. En
waters near there are sharks, rays and lobsters.
OFAUNA

was the last member Lonesome George.

13. SANTA CRUZ ISLAND
O Named in honor of the Cross of Christ, his English name
is due to the military HMS Indefatigable. It has an area of
986 km² and a maximum altitude of 864 meters. Santa
Cruz is located in the largest human settlement of the
archipelago, in the town of Puerto Ayora. The Charles
Darwin Research Station and the headquarters of the
Galapagos National Park Service are located here.
15. O The "top" Santa Cruz has lush vegetation and is known
by the lava tubes. A large population of turtles inhabits
this region. Black Turtle Cove is an area surrounded by
mangrove which sea turtles, rays and small sharks use it
as a roost. Cerro Dragon, known for its flamingo lagoon
and land iguanas, also located on this island. It has areas
for diving and surfing.
