43. I've been thinking about choice of
history for a long time. My family has
always been associated with the military,
so I decided that I will tell you some short
stories.
44. My great grandfather lived with his family in
Bydgoszcz. The Germans forced him to work for
resisting the occupant in 1942. He escaped from
enemies in 1943 and he was hiding in the city for
several months . Unfortunately, during the “round-
up” was captured and deported to Auschwitz. He often
wrote letters. After few months, when family didn’t got
letter, they know he’s dead…
45. My uncle was a flyer, when he was 27. During the
World war II, he escaped to UK, where he was entered
into one of the Polish division. During one of the
patrols above Sahara, he came across three enemy
fighters. From his diary, we know , that he destroyed
one machine. His plane was devastated and he
crashed. He died from hunger and thirst. Today, his
diary goes to younger generation as family heirloom.
46. The last story is about another uncle. During the
war he escaped to England, where he joined to the
army. When the war ended, he was accused of
treason, so he emigrated to Australia. He never saw
his children. He died in 2009.
