Duties of Welding Engineer
 Preparation of welding procedure specifications (WPS) & procedure qualification record (PQR)
for Material such as Carbon Steel , Stainless Steel , Duplex Stainless Steel , Super Duplex
Stainless Steel , Carbon Steel Cladded , nickel base alloys , etc according to specs and codes
such as ISO 15614-1, DNV, AWS D1.1, ASME IX, ASME B31.8 API 1104 etc…
 Preparing and carrying out welder qualification according to the different codes for welding
structural works, pipelines, and piping systems.
 Issue a welding matrix for every project to cover all the range of the project materials and joints.
 Issue a master list for approved WPS’s for the different project items i.e structure, piping, and
pipelines
 Develops, recommends, and coordinates the implementation of a sound welding program through
improved weld processes, techniques, inspections, and safety procedures
 Plans, organizes and directs the technical aspects of all types of welding processes and issues
 Establishes and documents welding processes in accordance with national and military
standards/specifications.
 Develops, recommends, and coordinates the implementation of improved/enhanced processes,
techniques, and safety procedures for all welding performed within the company.
 Identifies problems with and identifies the resolution of welding processes, issues, and concerns.
 Performs root cause analysis with emphasis on eliminating problems through design analysis,
ergonomic issues, and machine/welding/assembly process improvements including
equipment/materials purchasing requirements.
 Keeps abreast of Best Practices and state-of-the-art welding technologies and safety procedures
used throughout the industry.
 Serves as a key resource in the development of capacity planning, production control and
troubleshooting of production welding processes.
 Develops, plans, and administers a welding training class for new and current welders (minimum
of 4 times per year).
 Performs all other job related duties as assigned by management.).
Duties of QA/QC Engineer.
 Ensure that the approved welding procedures are used during fabrication and production.
 Controlling the fabrication sequence and dimension check during the project according to Specs
And codes.
 Control all nondestructive tests such as visual inspection, UT tests, RT interpretation,and MT, PT
Inspection.
 Carry out a complete control on the welder performance during fabrication and production
 Analysis of welding defects causes and its extent to take the necessary corrective action to
eliminate the defects sources.
 Determine the welding sequence to minimize the expected distortion.
 Inspect and controlling all NDT equipment and ensure that they work properly and calibrated.
