D U T I E S :
WELDING & PIPING INSPECTOR
Duties of the welding inspector before, during and after welding, including but not limited to:
 Identify and prepare Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), inspections of prepared
test specimens and witness destructive tests during procedure qualification testing (PQT).
 Participates as a member of a team in the formulation and implementation of the
company and the client Quality Assurance/Quality Control policies and procedures
 Selection of the most appropriate welding process (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, etc.) to
achieve the desired quality with the lost cost within the project time schedule.
 Deep experience in the different welding applications and processes and different
ferrous and nonferrous alloys.
 Welder Qualification with Conformance to the applicable codes and standards.
 Verifying that Welders at job site are meeting PQR requirements.
 Monitor Welder performance and conduct visual inspections of welds and repairs of
welds in accordance with Company procedures and international codes of practice.
 Monitor the construction process from all aspects to ensure performance meets job
quality and design requirements in accordance with Company procedures and
international standards.
 Pre-weld inspection & Verification that joints Fit-up and weld preparations are in
accordance with the engineering drawings and meeting requirements with relevant codes
and standards.
 Verification of Welding consumables used at job site is meeting the requirements of the
approved welding procedure specification (WPS .(
 Dimensional check of completed weld against specification requirements and drawings.
 In-process surveillance during welding to verify compliance with specified procedure
including any preheat, inter-pass temperature control and post heat requirements.
 Participates throughout Company in both quality and technical audits.
 Perform internal Welding Audits to identify opportunities for improving product quality.
 Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Deviation Reports (DRs) when
 Activities deviate from the Contract Specifications or normal Construction practices.
 Preparing the weekly QC report that showing the weekly progress that has performed
by the QC Dept.
 Maintain daily log of Welding activities and repairs.
 Witness to the Welding/Brazing Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR/BPQR) and
Prepare the Welding/Brazing Procedures Specifications (WPS/BPS) for Process Piping,
Power Piping, Steel Structural, Pipe Lines.
 Assessing the condition of welding consumables which may be found to be damaged on
receipt and decide whether to accept/reject or recondition as appropriate.
 Preparation / review of punch list and test packages prior to hydro static testing.

Non - Destructive Examination (NDE)
 Performance, interpretation and evaluation of the results for the following Non-Destructive
Exams
Ultrasonic Examination
 Ultrasonic inspection and Interpretation of welds.
 UT Procedure preparation and report writing with conformance of the applicable code and
specification
 Thickness Measurements and lamination Detection using A-Scan equipment.
 Dealing with different UT (Calibration and DAC) Blocks such as IIW V1, IIW V2, ASME &
AWS Base Metal DAC Block …etc.
Radiographic Examination
 RT Procedure preparation and report writing with conformance of the applicable code and
specification.
 Radiographic film interpretation for all configurations welding, casting and forging.
 Dealing with radioactive isotopes in case of emergency, preparation of emergency plan and
supervision on its application.
Magnetic Particles Examination
 MT Procedure preparation and report writing with conformance of the applicable code and
specification.
 Dealing with the different MT equipment and calibration blocks
Dye penetrant Examination
 PT Procedure preparation and report writing with conformance of the applicable code and
specification.
 Conducting PT test for different type of materials.
