soldiers
• Spartan soldiers were famous fighters.
• All spartan boys went to an army school when
they were seven.
• They were trained to be tough and brave.
• They were often whipped to teach them to stand
pain.

• Sparta was ruled by a group of old men called a
council.
• They had to vote by shouting yes or no.

• They met together to decide what should happen
in Athens and elect people in the government.
