Difference Between Job and Work
July 14, 2016 By Surbhi S — Leave aComment
In our previous article we compared job and career, and now we are going to discuss
the differences between job and work, which are commonly used by the people as
substitutes for one another. The term ‘work‘ is the most commonly used word in our
day to day life, which refers to the activities performed by us, so as to achieve the
desired outcome. On the contrary, the word ‘job‘ is used by us to represent a particular
position in the company, for instance, I have a job of sales manager (designation).
So come, let’s compare and contrast these two terms in detail.

JOB WORK
Definition of Job
In simple terms, a job is referred as a piece of work, more specifically a task performed
regularly for an agreed price. It is a part of one’s occupation, performed with a motive
of earning money. A job can be part-time, for 20 hours a week or full-time, for 40
hours a week.
To start a job, one needs to get employed, where the employee enters into a contract of
employment with the employer. The employee is required to follow company’s
regulations. Each job involves certain tasks, duties, responsibilities which should be
performed in a systematic way, as the individual gets paid for that. The employees are
made clear about organizational goals and targets to achieve.
The term job can be used in a variety of contexts, like a specific designation or duties
performed in the job or the kind of company you are working for.
Definition of Work
Work refers to an activity, in which physical or mental efforts are performed to
produce something or accomplish a goal. The work is performed by an individual as a
duty towards his employers for consideration or as a responsibility towards other
people, like family, friends or even for self.
converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
In finer terms, each and every activity or exertion done by individual comes under
work. In English, it can be used in two major contexts, which are:
It can be used to refer the place of work. For example Jimmy is at work. or Alex
is going to work.
It is also used to refer all the activities that happen during work. For example
Meeting with clients, basic job duties, etc.
Key Differences Job and Work
The following points are noteworthy so far as the difference between job and
work is concerned
1. Activity, performed by an individual for consideration, is called a job. Any
activity that involves physical or mental strain, so as to accomplish a goal,
is called work.
2. In the English Language, the word job is a countable noun, that means
you can count the number of jobs, but at the same time, the term work is
an uncountable noun.
3. The job is much more specific than work as it represents a regular and
official activity whereas work means general efforts made to achieve a
result.
4. A job is performed for a monetary compensation called salary or wages.
On the contrary, work may or may not involve monetary compensation.
5. A job describes your designation in the company, while a work includes all
the activities done by you.
Conclusion
So, with the discussion of these two terms, it is quite evident, that job and work are
different terms and should not be misconstrued. Further, the word ‘work’ has a
broader meaning than the word ‘job’ as the latter is a small part of the former. While a
job is a formal and routine activity performed in exchange for money, work includes all
the tasks undertaken by an individual.

Difference Between Needs and Wants
July 8, 2016 By Surbhi S — Leave a Comment
We all know that economics is a social science, which deals with production, distribution
and consumption functions. It is all about making choices regarding the allocation of
scarce resources, so as to make their best possible use and satisfy human wants and
needs. In economics, we often go through the terms needs and wants, but have you
wondered about their differences. While needs point out the something you must have for
survival, wants refers to something which is good to have, but not essential for survival.
For the purpose of spending and saving money wisely, every person must know the
difference between needs and wants.

BASIS FOR
COMPARISON
NEEDS WANTS
Meaning Needs refers to an individual's
basic requirement that must be
fulfilled, in order to survive.
Wants are described as the goods
and services, which an individual like
to have, as a part of his caprices.
Nature Limited Unlimited
What is it? Something you must have. Something you wish to have.
Represents Necessity Desire
Survival Essential Inessential
Change May remain constant over
time.
May change over time.
Non-fulfillment May result in onset of disease
or even death.
May result in disappointment.
Definition of Needs
By the term needs, we mean those requirements which are extremely necessary for a
human being to live a healthy life. They are personal, psychological, cultural, social, etc
that are important for an organism to survive.
In ancient times the three basic needs of the man are food, clothing and shelter but with
the passage of time, education and healthcare also became integral, as they improve the
quality of life. They are a person’s first priority as they are the things, that they keep us
healthy and safe. Therefore, if needs are not satisfied in time, it may result in illness,
inability in functioning properly or even death.
Definition of Wants
In economics, wants are defined as something that a person would like to possess, either
immediately or at a later time. Simply put, wants are the desires that cause business
converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
activities to produce such products and services that are demanded by the economy.
They are optional, i.e. an individual is going to survive, even if not satisfied. Further, wants
may vary from person to person and time to time.
We all know that human wants are unlimited while the means to satisfy those wants are
limited. Hence, all the wants of an individual cannot be met and they must seek for
alternatives.
Key Differences Between Needs and Wants
The following points are noteworthy so far as the difference between needs and
wants are concerned:
1. The term ‘needs’ is defined as an individual’s basic requirement that must be
fulfilled, in order to survive. Wants are described as the goods and services,
which an individual like to have, as a part of his caprices.
2. An individual needs are limited while his wants are unlimited.
3. Needs are something that you must have, in order to live. On the contrary,
wants are something that you wish to have, so as to add comforts in your life.
4. Needs represents the necessities while wants indicate desires.
5. Needs are important for the human being to survive. As against this, wants
are not as important as needs, because a person can live without wants.
6. Needs are those items, that are required for life and does not change with
time. As opposed to, wants are those items, that are desired by an individual
either right now or in future. Therefore, wants might change over time.
7. As needs are essential for life, non-fulfillment may lead to illness or even
death. In contrast wants are not essential for living and so non-fulfillment,
does not have a great impact on a person’s life, however, disappointment
may be there.
Conclusion
With the above discussion, on these two concepts of economics, it concluded that needs
and wants are separate forces, that compels actions for satisfaction. If needs are not met
on time, the survival of a person is at stake whereas wants are something which a person
is craving for, that does not challenge a person’s survival if not satisfied.
So, needs can be distinguished from wants on the basis of their level of importance.
Hence, the distinction is between what is required and what is desired.

Difference Between Knowledge and Wisdom
April 9, 2016 By Surbhi S — Leave aComment
Many people mistakenly juxtapose knowledge for wisdom, as both are nouns and used
in the English language. But the truth is that they are different. There are many quotes
and sayings of knowledge and wisdom given by the experts and great personalities that
defines the significance of these two terms. Sir Francis Bacon said “Knowledge is
power” while Gautam Buddha, hold that “Wisdom is highest of all five
virtues”. Knowledge is the accumulation of information, learned through education
or experience. On the other hand wisdom is when you how to apply your knowledge,
for the benefit of others.

Definition of Wisdom
Wisdom is a wider term than knowledge and intelligence. It is the quality of person to
think, act or discern what is best, right, true and enduring. It is the application of
common sense, knowledge and experience, at the right time, place, manner and
situation so as to follow the best possible course of action. It develops the ability to
judge and make beneficial and productive decisions in life.
Knowledge and understanding are the basis of wisdom, but experience is the key to
attain wisdom. It unites knowledge and experience into insights and increases an
individual’s understanding about relationships and meaning of life.
Key Differences Between Knowledge and Wisdom
The main differences between knowledge and wisdom are discussed in detail in
the given below points:
1. Knowledge refers to the collection of information and facts about
something or someone by learning and experience. The ability of a person
to judge, apply education & experience in practical life and make right
choices is called wisdom.
2. Knowledge is nothing but organized information, it is not about the
plethora of information but that should be relevant. On the contrary,
wisdom is the quality to implement knowledge into practical life.
3. Knowledge is selective in nature, in essence, it only stores specialized
information. Conversely, wisdom is comprehensive and integrated.
4. Knowledge is deterministic while wisdom is non-deterministic.
5. Knowledge results in the understanding about the particular subject,
whereas wisdom develops the discernment and reasoning ability in a
person.
6. The approach of knowledge is theoretical. In contrast to, wisdom which
has a spiritual approach.
7. When it comes to the acquisition, knowledge is acquired by obtaining
information or learning about the facts by observation or education. As
opposed to wisdom, which is developed in the person through the day to
day experiences in life.
8. Knowledge has the same relation to mind, as that of a wisdom with soul.
Conclusion
After referring to the above points, it can be concluded that there is a difference
between knowledge and wisdom, but they are connected concepts. Knowledge without
wisdom is possible, but wisdom without knowledge is impossible.
While knowledge is limited, wisdom has no visible end. Knowledge can have positive or
negative effects in the sense that it can be useful to people if they use in a right way, but
can also harm others if they use that knowledge in a wrong direction. Unlike wisdom
converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
which has only positive results, because it is the implementation of knowledge with a
positive and benevolent attitude.

It is all about making choices regarding the allocation of scarce resources, so as to make their best possible use and satisfy human wants and needs. In economics, we often go through the terms needs and wants, but have you wondered about their differences. While needs point out the something you must have for survival, wants refers to something which is good to have, but not essential for survival. For the purpose of spending and saving money wisely, every person must know the difference between needs and wants. Content: Needs Vs Wants 1. Comparison Chart 2. Definition 3. Key Differences 4. Wants are described as the goods and services, which an individual like to have, as a part of his caprices. Nature Limited Unlimited What is it? Something you must have. Something you wish to have. Represents Necessity Desire Survival Essential Inessential Change May remain constant over time. May change over time. Non-fulfillment May result in onset of disease or even death. May result in disappointment. Definition of Needs By the term needs, we mean those requirements which are extremely necessary for a human being to live a healthy life. They are personal, psychological, cultural, social, etc that are important for an organism to survive. In ancient times the three basic needs of the man are food, clothing and shelter but with the passage of time, education and healthcare also became integral, as they improve the quality of life. They are a person’s first priority as they are the things, that they keep us healthy and safe. Therefore, if needs are not satisfied in time, it may result in illness, inability in functioning properly or even death. Definition of Wants In economics, wants are defined as something that a person would like to possess, either immediately or at a later time. Further, wants may vary from person to person and time to time. We all know that human wants are unlimited while the means to satisfy those wants are limited. Hence, all the wants of an individual cannot be met and they must seek for alternatives. Key Differences Between Needs and Wants The following points are noteworthy so far as the difference between needs and wants are concerned: 1. The term ‘needs’ is defined as an individual’s basic requirement that must be fulfilled, in order to survive. Wants are described as the goods and services, which an individual like to have, as a part of his caprices. 2. An individual needs are limited while his wants are unlimited. 3. Needs are something that you must have, in order to live. On the contrary, wants are something that you wish to have, so as to add comforts in your life. 4. Needs represents the necessities while wants indicate desires. 5. Needs are important for the human being to survive. As against this, wants are not as important as needs, because a person can live without wants. 6. Needs are those items, that are required for life and does not change with time. As opposed to, wants are those items, that are desired by an individual either right now or in future. Therefore, wants might change over time. 7. As needs are essential for life, non-fulfillment may lead to illness or even death. In contrast wants are not essential for living and so non-fulfillment, does not have a great impact on a person’s life, however, disappointment may be there. Conclusion With the above discussion, on these two concepts of economics, it concluded that needs and wants are separate forces, that compels actions for satisfaction. If needs are not met on time, the survival of a person is at stake whereas wants are something which a person is craving for, that does not challenge a person’s survival if not satisfied. So, needs can be distinguished from wants on the basis of their level of importance. Hence, the distinction is between what is required and what is desired. converted by Web2PDFConvert.com
