The A Vessel Of Power
A Vessel of Power
Open on a small, hot, loud, and crowded room; emphasis on the loud. The lights are low aside from
a glowing stage. Two gangly men are exuding energy and life off the stage and onto the crowd. The
mass of people at their feet are responding tenfold, dedicated fans who know every word, every
beat. They sing (or scream) along, "I'm trying, I'm trying to sleep. But I can't, but I can't when you
all have guns for hands." The room is filled with unusual pairs: old and young, black and white,
poor and rich. Despite their differences, they are at home with each other, bound by their shared
interest in music and life. The song continues, and hundreds of hands shaped like guns fill the small
space between the heads and the ceiling. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The language of an effective song inspires deeper thinking, puts a thought in a new perspective,
helps cement prior knowledge, opens the eyes of the audience. These lyrics aid in that "ah ha"
moment when people see the world in a new light, or they may serve as reassurance, helping the
listener feel understood and less alone. Lyrics can, and should be powerful.
The lyrics from Vessel exemplify this power. Every song on the album has at least a few sentences
that make listeners stop in their tracks. In some songs, like "Migraine" or "Car Radio," every line
does that. "Car Radio" expands on the idea that "Sometimes quiet is violent." It explores the dark
places human minds may go if given the opportunity. "Migraine" speaks on the complexity of life,
especially elaborating on the loneliness that accompanies not feeling understood and how that
loneliness causes depression while encouraging listeners to hope. Knowing there are others out there
listening to this song, thinking the same thoughts, even if they are strangers, alleviates that lonely
feeling. "Migraine" also urges listeners to keep fighting, to never give up on their life goals or on
life itself. The only miss on this criteria from the album comes from, ironically, their most popular
song, "House of Gold." The song is a simple ballad to the writer's mother promising to take care of
her: sweet, but not exactly thought provoking. Despite this, Vessel definitely exceeds the

INTRODUCTION
As it was known for the culture to build music, nowadays different kinds of music build different
cultures. Thus we have Pop culture, Rock culture, Electronic music culture etc.
As part of Electronic dance music, House music has managed to, over the years, develop its own
culture. It became popular in mid 1980s especially among African–American, Latino and gay
population who have build up its culture.
Influenced by disco, funk, synthpop and soul, house music has a prominent drum on every beat, 4/4
structure, and may also feature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1987, once again, two boys from Chicago, DJ Pierre and Marshall Jefferson, knew that something
had to be done so they have decided to create a new sound by using Roland TB 303 bass synthesizer
(the instrument that has appeared in the 1983 in disco via Alexander Robotnick). It was a sound
which when emitted from the machine swirl it stabs across House music 4/4 beat and that was
completely overpowering the listeners.
The first Acid House record was released in the same year by the group of artists formed by Nathan
"DJ Pierre" Jones, Earl "Spanky" Smith Jr., and Herbert "Herb J" Jackson. It was created by
experimenting with Roland TB 303. The Record was called 'Acid Tracks' and it was played for the
first time by Ron Hardy at the Music Box. The name originated from the hallucinogenic effect it had
in the clubs, for e.g. One of the first UK clubs where Acid House was introduced was London's
'Shoom' opened by Danny Rampling and his wife in 1987, which was extremely exclusive and
featured thick fog, and a dreamy atmosphere alongside Acid House. Rampling's friend, Nick
Holloway, who he had been working with on Ibiza over the summer, has also opened a club called
'Trip' in 1988 which was made especially for the Acid house music scene.

De Tal Manera Dios Te Amo
On Friday, September 1, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. the church Indy Tabernaculo was celebrating it's 13th
anniversary under the theme "De Tal Manera Dios Te Amo" that had live music. The musicians
performed three pieces from various christian artists. The program included Vivo Estás, Cantaremos
de tu gran amor, and Hermoso Nombre/ What a Beautiful Name. Jose Luis Rivas was the pianist and
was accompanied by singers, guitarists, a trumpet player, a drummer, and praise dancers. Although
this is the church I regularly attend three times a week I am always impressed by the quality of
sound and enthusiasm that is portrayed. The concert opened with the song called Vivo Estás/ Alive
by Hillsong Young & Free. This piece began quietly. As the drummer was lightly

The Origins and Development of Electronic Dance Music and...
The Origins and Developments of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and Contemporary Nightlife
Musical Culture
The origins and developments of Electronic Dance Music initially started with the development of
the synthesizer. It was with these first uses of synthesized sounds that prompted the development of
sequencers, sampling, effects processing, musical instrument digital interface (MIDI), use of
computer technology, hard disk recording systems and modern day virtual studio technology
(VST's). These all fundamentally build the genre of electronic music, as we know it today. The
development of this new technology brought many new genres to music, mostly popular, Electronic
Dance Music being one of these.
The Moog Synthesizer was the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the time, British inventor, Peter Zinovieff and American Composer, Raymond Scott were both
looking into basic electronic sequencing, however it was Buchla that had the initial breakthrough.
Before then, artists were manually cutting up and splicing tape together to achieve sequences and
Buchla found an electronic alternative and soon developed his electronic sequencer. This meant that
artists would no longer need to go through the time consuming process of cutting up tape for
sequencing. Buchla said," you could simply take my sequencer and set the time and the pitch for
each interval. So that required, of course, a voltage–controlled oscillator, and from then it led to a
bunch of other ideas" (Pinch, 2004, p.40).
It was after the moog synthesizer that companies and inventors, much like Buchla, had started to
look at other ways of evolving electronics into music. The Minimoog was a monophonic instrument,
and instruments like the APR odyssey were soon after introduced that allowed duophony possible on
synthesizers. The APR odyssey mk I was released in 1972, and was an aesthetically pleasing
duophonic synthesizer, making it easy for a performer to tweak the parameters of the synthesized
sound with sliders. By the mid 1970's, well–known companies like Sequential Circuits and Yamaha
had developed more advanced keyboard matrices, allowing polyphony to be introduced to the
electronic music scene. One

Taking a Look at the Electric Daisy Carnimal
Introduction
The impact of today's music festivals has altered the way the youth culture defines itself as it is
constantly expanding to immerse people in a more interactive way to give individuals an
unforgettable musical experience that connects the festival goer to the artist and how much the
influence of music can impact people. The Electric Daisy Carnival is one of North America's largest
dance music festivals and it is noteworthy to understand how it culturally became popular with the
influence of electronic music and how is has shaped and changed the modern rave scene in the US.
Also known as EDC, this event has gotten bigger every year while creating the best experience for
rave goers unlike any other festival. The significance of EDC is that it has changed how raves
function here in America and how it is shedding a new light on the stigma raves had in the past. The
reason I chose this topic is because people say that music speaks to soul but I believe that EDC is far
beyond any other musical experience and feel that this event is judged in so many ways because
people don't understand the deepness about what EDC promotes and how it is influencing how
young people interact and connect today because of the music. Creators/ Producers The Electric
Daisy Carnival has created a unique experience and revolutionized the way raves present themselves
to people that later garnered a big following due to the colorful scene and atmosphere at these events

Concert Ethnography
Concert Ethnography: Vijay Iyer Sixtet The performance by the Vijay Iyer Sextet on March 7 at
Memorial Hall reveals a deeper connection between jazz and the public's interest in evocative tones.
Vijay Iyer is a Grammy–nominated jazz composer and pianist. He is the main composer for the
sextet and is seen as the unspoken leader. His sextet is made up of five of his other closest friends,
who are all composers and musicians as well. The music this group performs is categorized as
improvisational jazz. However, the music also includes different styles of music from other genres.
By playing music that encompasses several different genres, the Vijay Iyer Sextet is able to appeal

The instrumentation of the show included a piano, bass, drums, saxophone, trumpet, fugal horn, and
soundboard. The use of popular jazz instruments further reveals the performer's intention to give the
audience a taste of the sentimental, antique tones of jazz music. As the instrumentation reveals the
genre of the music being performed, the stage for the show was set up in a way that highlighted the
artists performing solos during the improvisational pieces. For example, the use of lights played a
large role in visually isolating the soloists. The lights used during the show only illuminated the
performers that were located upstage, while there were no lights used to illuminate downstage. Thus,
as performers were not playing in the piece they would move downstage into the darkness. This
would cause the focus of the audience to shift to the other performers that were still playing. The
intentional movement of the artists downstage reveals the artist's intent to highlight each individual
instrument in the sextet and the improvisational skills of the artist playing them. Also, the visual
depiction of an artist emerging from the shadows located downstage and playing prompted the
audience to clap. The clapping was also prompted after a musician finishes the personal solo
improvisational piece within a song. The clapping from the audience when an instrument

Techno Music Essay
"Techno music" has defined the American music culture since the emergence of rock and roll in the
1950s. Throughout the 1960s, technology evolved and it was accepted and incorporated into various
factions of life and society. With rock and roll being associated with hippies, the middle class in
society wanted to find something that they could relate to and be classified as a higher social class
than the hippies. Musicians and music directors mashed up various sounds and the energetic nature
of rock roll was used as an essential way of keeping the crowd engaged and the musicians lively all
along. Music directors and musicians started using technology to alter the tones and to give more

Instead, it adopted the idea of being enthralled by the beat" (Reynolds and Reynolds 20). Simon
Reynolds explains that the genre's development originated from Detroit, New York, and Chicago,
which spread to other parts of the world in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Juan Atkins and
Richard Davis, the co–creators of Cybotron, were the early pioneers of Detroit techno. Detroit
techno began as an experiment by the DJ's with electronic music and playing it in nightclubs
(Reynolds and Reynolds 6). The type of music influenced a specific group of people and created a
culture. Before its popularity and diversity, techno music was identified with the African–Americans
living in Detroit. African–Americans used the music to express the city's oppressive nature, social
and environmental decay. Many people engaged in techno music as a means of freeing themselves
from the limitations, prejudice, and preconceptions manifested in Detroit's urban environment. Due
to these conditions, a new style of thinking opened up, and people all across the world appreciated
techno music because of the incorporation of electronic sound. Cybotron's album, Enter, released in
1983 incorporates various aspects of techno music that makes it appealing to their listeners' ears.
Mostly, the album is considered as the genesis of Detroit techno because it was founded on the
fundamental principle that electrical instruments are as good as or even better musical allies than
human beings.

How To Kick Drum
1) I would utilize my Techno Beams #701 thru #704 with some yellow color at almost its full
intensity and tilt them all the way up as I also load them with a color chase effect so that they can
have this alternation pattern with each other in which all of these fixtures would open and close their
dimmers as they alternate with each other, I would also play with the speed of this effect to get it as
close as possible with the drummer since I think it would be a great idea if these fixtures fire up with
the beat of the song as the drummer plays kicks his kick drum.
2) I would use my Mac 700 Washes #201 thru #204 to light up my stage with some cyan color and
evenly distributed on both stage left and right with an intensity of 45 to create a very interesting look
as I also use my Mac 700 profiles #301 thru #304 in a magenta spiral rotating gobo pattern with a
very slow speed so that it goes very smooth with song as the band performs the chorus of the song.

Band With Dilly Research Paper
I find that having band class in our schools is fundamental. If it was just nothing but desk
classes, where all you did was sit all day, no one would even show up. In my particular scenario,
I get to have band with Dilly, that's a reason all in its own. In our modern day in age it is now
possible to monitor what the brain looks like, and what it is doing when someone is doing
something. It is shown that learning music activates areas of the brain and synchronizes the mind
for learning at a rapid pace, while expanding your memory to a higher retention. Music is a
fundamental part of our culture, if we choose to set it aside and forget about it, like much of our
history, we wouldn't be who we are, we would be a bunch of hippies

What Is Modern Dance And Who Says What Is Dance?

Modern Dance
Professor Jessie Laurita Spanglet

Alwin Nikolais What exactly is modern dance and who says what is dance? Throughout the decades
dancers and artists have used this question to push the boundaries and limitations on what is
considered dance. Some did this by changing the setting of a dance while others did this by making
changes to what can be incorporated into a dance. A great example of a famous choreographer who
changed the way others viewed dance was Alwin Nikolais. Alwin Nikolais was born in Connecticut
in 1910 and as a young artist studied acting, music, and puppetry. Interestingly enough Alwin
explained that he originally began as a pianist out of economic necessity. It was not until age 22
when he attended a performance by Mary Wigman that he became interested in studying dance
specifically the percussion instruments Mary used. Mary Wigman was somewhat of a role model to
Alwin Nikolais. It was her percussion sounds off stage which truly intrigued Alwin. It was these
sounds Alwin was interested in learning but he was told he must learn dance first. Within a year of
dancing Alwin became a professional dancer, but his interest in creating rather than performing was
stronger. He was interested in the body, how it moved, and what it was made of. He focused on the
observation of dance rather than doing it himself. He gained his training at the Bennington College
studying with the renowned figures such as Hanya Holm, Martha

On Raves and Club Drugs
2003. Hungary. I remember my way on a road to an abandoned airport in the middle of the country.
I was with my four other friends fulfilled with euphoria in the car waiting for the moment to get to a
place where we felt that all of our problems will be sorted. We bought the tickets weeks before the
venue and we were all counting the days back with full of excitement like little kids around
Christmas and the day had come. When we got off the road the beat of the music in the background
just hit our ears. As we approached to the scene the music got louder with our excitement as well
and we finally got there. Hundreds of our friends were already jumping around to our special music
in the hangar with the hugest smile in their face. I could feel the love in the air in the shadow of the
laser lights. We were so happy that we could not describe in words. This made us feel that we don't
have to worry about anything in our life, that we part of a family where everyone respects each
other. That's what made us feel different and being part of something that not many people could tell
back in the days. Can't deny that club drugs helped to achieve this feeling and it was a massive part
of it as well. We were confused teenagers who desperately tried to find the way to make sense of this
whole world. We wanted to choose our way of life against from a prescribed life what our parents
and the government tried to push ourselves into. We wanted to go against this emotionally empty

1. THE INTRODUCTION
I've listened to a lot of music in my 514,561,058 seconds of life.
Of course the beginning first few years of my life did not consistent of heavy articulation and
rhythm interpretation, rather it was to see if I could sing back the ABC's or mumble the Arthur
theme song to my sister.
Most of the music influence I have was harvested back when I was eleven. I listened to a wide
variety of genres of music from pop, to rock, to rap, to country, to concert band music, even to
Bollywood music as that's what would be playing in my home as my mom cooked food for all of us.
The audio quality of the music always interested me. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I learned the correlation between blowing into an instrument and the sounds that come out.
This really changed my perception about music. I found myself enjoying the classical music that I
would be playing on my clarinet, but I always kept it in correlation with the new sounds and
technology music was sounding like. The new electronic based sounds created on the computer with
the melodies and movement like a classical piece set that a part for me. I think this was generated by
sounds from Kanye West and his albums such as Graduation, and 808s & Heartbreaks, even the
blending of genres from Coldplay between pop tunes and classical music using implications such as
organs, bells, and synthesizers in doing so.
So what I ended up learning and continue to learn is I that like music really no matter what
condition it comes in. The examination of the work that takes place behind it demonstrates more
than what someone on the internet can tell me about how bad an album is or how weak the lyrics
are. Of course there's some analysis if a song is deemed as good or bad, but I always respect the
work that is done in order to produce music.
2. WHY I'M DOING THIS?

It's every band's dream to be recognized and have their influence spread across the world, and the

other hand, Oh Wonder is a musical duo composed of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht.

The synth is crucial in LANY as it complements the vocals of Paul Jason Klein. The way the synth
sets up Paul Jason Klein vocals in a way that the music and vocals blend in together can be seen in
other songs, such as "the Breakup", "ILYSB", and "Good Girls". Being such a versatile instrument,
LANY is able to use it in every song and create a wide range of tones and vibes in their music. This
is evident throughout the album in fast paced music, and slow songs, such as "It was Love" and
"13". The sound produced from the synth is crucial for LANY as the sound the synth combined with
the lyrics gives produces an atmosphere that is unique to LANY. While not as obvious and
frequently used as LANY, Oh Wonder's utilization of the synth also compliments the singers voices.
Most notably, in the song "Body Gold" when Josephine sings the lines, "Let it go, paint my body
gold. Take our bodies higher and higher and higher". In this part of the chorus Oh Wonder
introduces the sound of a synth and subtle autotune when she sings the lyrics. This is important to
the song because the introduction of the sounds in the chorus become distorted. The distortion of the
voices and the sound of the synth compliments Josephine's voice by dragging out her voice,
resulting in an extremely mellow atmosphere. All in all, the usage of the synth creates a well
rounded album that encompasses different instrumental for different

Rock music absorbed House and Techno, and DJ's and electronicists began to tour and act like rock
stars. As one century tipped into another, dance music was still a primary source of interest and
creativity as Trance, a futuristic blend of technology and House and Techno, became a chart–
topping, globe girdling sensation"( Prendergast pg 367). Another great more specific example of this
is Paul Oakenfold as written in Last night a DJ saved my life, " When Paul Oakenfold plays records
in a club, every person on the dance floor will be facing him. Just like they'd face a rock band on a
stage. There's not much to see: a baseball cap maybe, a studious face leaning into a pair of
headphones, some minimal arm movements as he slides in another flawless mix. Occasionally he
might throw his hands up in excitement, smile out in response to a particularly grand track, or share
a wink with some energetic fan, and when he does, there'll be a sea of hands aloft, a breakout of
waving and grinning, an ocean of smiling dancers mirroring his every gesture. For he is a superstar"
( Brewster pg 384). Along with these tours came annual festivals. Huge festivals every year with
sometimes over a hundred thousand people in attendance. Some of these are Love Parade and

Rainbow Six Character Analysis
Every individual who puts pen to paper, producing a story, has a style. More specifically, all
accomplished authors have a way of writing that makes them unique. In techno–thriller novel
Rainbow Six – a story about a counterterrorism team that faces a series of progressively difficult
attacks – author Tom Clancy writes in a highly descriptive, ideological, and informative manner.
Distinctly prominent in Clancy's work, such factors can all be established with a look beyond the
surface of his writing. A writer with a descriptive manner can cover a broad spectrum of subjects
including character development, setting, and imagery – all of which create a very realistic and
entertaining story. Clancy himself stated that, "The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction
has to make sense." These words precisely describe how this accomplished American author writes.
Unlike other authors, Thomas Leo Clancy Jr. uses detailed and subtle character development in his
writing. No matter the importance of the character's role to the plot, Clancy provides each with a
description that brings them to life. In the novel, Rainbow Six, the story shifts to the perspective and
thoughts of a man working at an amusement park. "De la Cruz liked that. His own sons were now in
the Spanish army, following their father's footsteps,..."(Clancy 310). This brief statement about this
extremely minor character of the novel is a perfect example of how Clancy encourages readers to
notice his characters as real people, rather than just fictional figures. Shifting views, another
important aspect of Tom Clancy's writing is his unique use of visual description. In a closing
shootout scene from the visual and physical perspectives of both the shooter and the unfortunate
victim of the shot, this novelist's descriptive methods are expressed. He states that, "Killgores mind
didn't have time to analyze what had happened to him, just the impacts in his chest, and now he was
looking straight up into the treetops where there were small cracks of blue and white from the
distant sky... Sergeant Pierce wondered, his three rounds had sprinkled across the chest, missing the
heart but ripping into the upper lungs and major blood vessels,..." (Clancy 883–884).

Musical Autobiography
Back in grade school, I didn't know much about music, since I didn't own any devices at the time.
Even if I did, I didn't have much interest in it. All my time, I just been just fooling around and doing
whatever I wanted. As time passed, there were people starting to wear ear buds and I always wonder
why they had them on their ears. I guess this the beginning of my curiosity about why music is so
great.
When I turned 13, My mom bought me a new phone. It was a small Samsung with a few buttons on

Collective Improvisation: New Orleans And Chicago Dixieland
Collective improvisation is when a group of musicians improvise to form a complete, multilayered
song. While it comes with rules, it also comes with the freedom of individual expression.
"Improvisation should not be equated with total freedom" (Collective Improvisation Lecture, Part
1). In other words, it is a group effort, not an allowance for musical anarchy. This lesson covered 2
types of collective improvisation: New Orleans Dixieland and Chicago Dixieland. Today, there are
still examples of collective improv. in multiple music styles.
The process of collective improvisation is a flexible interaction between musicians to create a
unique, textured piece of music. While some of the players were able to add their own interpretation
of the music, they had to stay close to the original piece. When it comes to early Dixieland, not
everyone was allowed to improvise, just the front line which was made up of the cornet (trumpet),
clarinet, and trombone. The trumpet played the melody, the trombone played ... Show more content

First of all, the saxophone was added to the Chicago style, which had a role similar to the clarinet
only it played a countermelody below the trumpet. Secondly, the rhythm section picked up the guitar
instead of the banjo. Third, Chicago paid more attention to the soloists vs. the entire ensemble, and
the players were more intense and driven, compared to the relaxed, laid back feel of the New
Orleans Dixieland. Take for example the difference between "West End Blues" by Louis Armstrong
and Bix Beiderbecke's "Singin' the Blues". "West End Blues", which is New Orleans style
Dixieland, has short solos and keeps the rhythm section at a steady, flat–four beat. "Singin' the
Blues", on the other hand, has much longer solos, allowing the players to elaborate. Last, the
Chicago style started throwing in intros and endings that were more

State Of Fear Critical Analysis
Michael Crichton's 2004 techno–thriller novel, State of Fear received many different opinions from
the audience. Although the novel was a page–turner, it disappointed many audiences for they didn't
expect that of an action–thriller novel. Some audiences believed he did not provide credible sources
for the Global Warming issue. Although the novel was fiction, Crichton provided ample amounts of
information based on his own research regarding very important issues such as Global Warming and
Climate Change. Crichton speaks about how these topics impact the world and the people living in
it. The novel takes the readers on a thrilling rollercoaster ride that is filled with suspense, innovative
technology, and outstanding research. State of Fear takes its readers from the streets of Paris to the
beaches of Los Angeles, from the glaciers of Iceland to the volcanoes of Antarctica, and from the
Arizona desert to the deadly jungles of the Solomon Islands. Michael Crichton presents a thought–
provoking novel that makes the readers think outside of their comfort zone. In the novel, Crichton
displays how information can be manipulated to people's wishes in the modern world.
State of Fear has eight main characters who are Peter Evans, Nick Drake, George Morton, Sarah
Jones, John Kenner, Sanjong Thapa, Jimmy Bolden, and Jennifer Haines. Peter Evans is a young
lawyer of George Morton who is a very wealthy philanthropist donating most of his money to the

The Andromeda Strain By Michael Crichton
Every man makes mistakes, that is part of being a human being, and we can use these mistakes to
learn and adapt in the future. Some blunders however, are more dire than others. When a team of
scientists working at a top secret installation, who just happen to be researching a deadly new virus
that came from outer space make a mistake, it can end in tragedy very quickly. In Michael
Crichton's novel The Andromeda Strain, Crichton illustrates characterization by showing us how
each scientist makes a mistake that, when added up, might have concluded with the death of
everyone on the team. Crichton shows that when under extreme stress, man will make mistakes
based on lack of self control, general ignorance, and personal ideals. The ... Show more content on

The main reason being that they wanted to know if different pathogens could even survive and
adapt, and if they could, what changes would occur. The biosatellite series of experiments proved
that bacteria could survive in Earth's orbit, and in fact, the experiments proved that bacteria could
actually thrive in that environment. "But the wildfire team staunchly ignored both the evidence of
their own experience–that bacteria mutate rapidly and radically–and the evidence of the Biosatellite
tests, in which a series of Earth forms were sent into space and later recovered...Biosatellite II
contained several species of bacteria, it was later reported that the bacteria had reproduced at a rate
of twenty to thirty times the normal rate...yet no one in Wildfire paid attention to this fact until it
was too late." (Crichton 164). This fact alone proved that the scientist's at Project Wildfire did not
use all of the information provided to them. hey only seemed to use data they collected themselves,
which in this case, almost cost them their lives. Because they ignored this crucial fact which
validated and answered most of their lasting questions. The scientists put themselves, and the
population around the facility, if not the entire country at great risk. If they had taken into account
previous data, they most likely would have been able to find a cure for the strain much faster,

Drug And Music : The Effects Of Electronic Drugs And Drugs
Drugs and music have been closely tied together throughout much of history, with each particular
genre typically having a drug closely associated with it. For jazz music, we have musicians such as
Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk of the 1940s who brought upon the glorification of opium with
their music. Fast forward to the 60s when the rise of psychedelic rock bands such as The Grateful
Dead, The Doors, The Beatles and Pink Floyd attempted to replicate the effects of LSD within their
music. In the 80s, cocaine was linked to popular glam metal bands such as Van Halen and Motley
Crue. As the late 80s and early 90s came around, it was ecstasy's turn to take the spotlight. Techno,
House, Acid House, and rave culture were starting to burst into popularity within the underground
music scenes of Detroit, Chicago, and in various places within Europe. These DJs such as Nicky
Halloway and Phil Hartnoll, like the musicians of the past, were well aware of the rampant ecstasy
use at their performances and their music was often influenced by said drug use. However, what
they may not have been aware of was the sheer dependence of ecstasy on the music and the music
on ecstasy. Unlike times past where the music and the drug would have a seemingly superficial
bond, ecstasy and electronic dance music's bond extends far beyond any superficial barrier. Without
ecstasy, there would be no electronic dance music, no raves, and no PLUR (Peace. Love. Unity.
Respect) culture. Likewise, without

The Andromeda Strain Book Report
The Andromeda Strain is a book about 4 men trying to find a cure for the Andromeda strain and
prevent an outbreak. The book starts in the town of Piedmont, Arizona where the Scoop VII satellite
crash landed carrying unknown bacteria collected from the upper atmosphere. The rest of the book
took place in a secret government facility in Flat Rock Nevada. The facility has 4 levels. To go down
to the next levels the characters had to be tested and decontaminated before they can go down. The
main characters spend most of their time at the bottom of the facility where they do all of their
research to eliminate the Andromeda Strain. Before Dr. Stone and Dr. Burton traveled to piedmont
to collect the satellite and they discovered that two people were still alive. The two people still alive
were a baby and Peter Jackson. Dr. Stone then took both of them to the facility in Nevada. ... Show

the Andromeda Strain. The conflict was won by the Scientists because the Andromeda Strain
eventually returned to the atmosphere. Another conflict that happened was between Dr. Mark Hall
and the computer. The Andromeda Strain almost mutated again but Dr. Hall prevented the crisis.
When one of the labs got sealed off when the Andromeda Strain got released then the computer
automatically started a nuclear countdown that would destroy the lab and mutate the Andromeda
strain. The only person who could cancel the detonation was Dr. Hall. Dr. Hall was stuck in the
sealed lab but escaped and stopped the bomb with seconds

Taylor Joseph, alone with Nick Thomas and Chris Salih, who eventually left in 2011, and currently

The First Song that I heard was Car Radio, at first i thought it was a really catchy song but I never
really thought what the song had said or meant. Once I really listened to the song I started to listen

All of the sounds go together really nicely. Tyler and Josh make poems, and then turns them into a
rap/song with a cool beat. Twenty One Pilots music is a combination of many types of music it has
Alternative hip hop, Electro pop, Indie pop, and rock music, some of his songs also have a little of
rap. When Tyler sings the songs in a performance, he usually sings them a little bit different or adds
something on to make the songs unique when he is performing. Twenty One Pilots concerts always
have lots of lights that match up with the techno sounds, and in my opinion it pumps up the crowd.
Twenty One Pilots songs didn't really change from the songs before. One thing that did change is
that the songs are a little bit more catchy. The songs also have more of a techno sound that before,
but they are still really good songs. The song Car Radio is a song a little bit similar then other songs
from Twenty One Pilots, but it also has a really good beat, and the lyrics go well with the techno
music. I think that people really like Twenty One Pilots, because of their music and it really speaks
to all of their fans. Many of people know twenty one pilots because of stressed out, but i don't think
that Stressed Out really shows what Twenty One Pilots is about. There are lots of other songs that
show what the band is really about, and I think Car Radio is

Synchresis In Glas
Bert Haanstra's 'Glas' is a short film made in 1958. The film focussed on the process of glass making
where two different methods of the process have been screened. Firstly it showed how human
beings are individually blowing the glasses and making artistic pieces out of it like decorative
materials, bottles, and cups etc., followed by the mechanical large scale mass production of bottles
which is mainly done by machines. It is found that the film is divided into three clearly defined
chapters. In the first chapter we mainly see the improvisatory method of glass blowing where
artisans are applying their individual artistic abilities in order to create glass objects with a unique
art impression. Whereas the second chapter involves the mechanical ... Show more content on

The activity of the artisans from their hands are edited and shot in such a manner that it matches
perfectly with the melody pattern as well as the rhythm of the musical track that is accompanied. It
looks as if the music is been created by them, implying that whatever they are doing is also highly
artistic it's not just a mechanical production. This chapter of the movie involves wide use of
synchresis and is an ideal example of musical synchresis. Synchresis is the term coined by French
theorist Michel Chion which means synchronisation + synthesis. Since synchresis is the phenomena
of establishing a cause and effect relation between image and sound when they occur together as if
the image is causing the sound, or the sound is outcome of whatever is happening on screen. As the
sequence progresses the music also becomes faster in order to accompany the faster editing pattern
where we see a perfect amalgamation of mechanical production of glasses with machines and
human beings. For example: very brief shots of a man blowing are perfectly synced with the notes
or chords on saxophone, it looks as if they are the one playing the

Summary Of Michael Crichton's The Andromeda Strain
Michael Crichton wrote The Andromeda Strain in 1969. In the book a satellite returns to Earth and
lands near a small town in Arizona. Soon it is found out that everyone in that town has died. It is
believed that the satellite returned with a deadly microorganism. When a team known as Wildfire
goes to inspect the satellite they discover a man named Peter and a baby named Jamie who have
survived. The two survivors and the satellite are taken back to the Wildfire lab. In the lab the
microbe is given the codename Andromeda. Upon investigation the scientists find out that the
microbe mutates during every life cycle, but only in a certain pH range. The scientists also find out
that a normal human's blood pH level fits inside this range. The reason the two humans survived is
because their blood. pH level is extremely different than a normal human's. The mutated microbe
begins to breach the security in the lab, triggering the self destruct. The lead scientist named Dr. Hall
uses a key and barely stops the self destruction of the lab. It is than suspected that the ... Show more

His favorite setting is a time period in the future and in a lab. His favorite character was either a
scientist or someone in the science field. Crichton's favorite style is very scientifical with very
descriptive and technical language. His favorite conflict is man vs creature. This usually leads to the
climax of the creature almost destroying the humans. Crichton's favorite resolution is the humans
being able to escape the creature but not destroying them. Michael Crichton's favorite theme is adapt
and overcome. When a character faces diversity he has them adapt and overcome that struggle. The
author has many purposes for writing but I believe his most favorite is to talk about man and his her
reaction to problems they face. At Harvard Crichton was an biological anthropology and the

Djing Mixing Essay
DJing mixing was have control over by radio personalities who introduced and played individual
selections of documented music on broadcast radio stations. Records were played over the radio as
early as 1906, although this did not become common until the 1920s. Christopher Stone was the first
radio DJ in the England, having joined the BBC in 1927, he went on to Radio Luxembourg in 1934.
His relaxed, conversational style set the tone for future radio presenting. DJing recorded music for
dancing and parties rose with the mass marketing of home turntables in the late 19th century, and the
first live DJ dance party in 1943. For the first time DJs present music in continuous play by using
multiple turntables. The first mixers created in the 1960s, mixing consoles specialized for DJing. In
1974, Technics started making their turntable, which became the most popular turntable for DJs due
to its high torque direct drive design. Hip hop DJs began using the technics turntables musical
instruments to manipulate records with turntablism techniques such as scratching and beat juggling
rather than merely mixing records. Although Technics stopped producing the turntable in 2010, they

Is EDM Beruly Intellectual?
Is EDM actually intellectual?
Modern generations witnessed its rise from the beginning of the new century. Lives of teenagers
(and older) worldwide have been influenced by it. It has become an unavoidable element for all the
places in the world where joy, youth and life are celebrated. One should not be mislead by these
statements, since EDM is simply more than that. It should be considered intellectual because of its
variety, composition and complexity, and high knowledge of properties of sound and appropriate
hardware/software it demands.
EDM (acronym, stands for electronic dance music) is a range of genres historically produced for
nightclubs and parties. Origins of EDM may be traced all the way from the emergence of
synthesizers and other more advanced technologies that replaced traditional instruments. It was
approximatelly in late 1970s and early 1980s when synthpop, house and techno, the forerunners of
our EDM, initially appeared. According to Sherburne, the "tipping point" to bring this music ...

Let us follow a part of the historical evolution of the modern music to explain this point. Blues
evolved into jazz and R&B (rhythm and blues). Then they all merged with country music to produce
rock and roll. Apart from that, jazz and R&B resulted in funk, and later in rap music. What makes
EDM special is that it can draw inspiration from and adopt any of these (and all of their subgenres),
but in the same time remains the ability to be recognized as unique. For instance, there is a trip hop,
"a fusion of hip hop and electronica until neither genre is recognizable" (DJ Shadow. Slant
Magazine) and there is also a trance, "a genre on its own, but also includes other styles of electronic
music such as techno, pop and chill–out" (Fassbender). Dubstep, DnB, glitch, chillstep, hardcore,
trap and many others; there is virtually no way to stop the evolution of

club testified against them. The deliberation ended with the jury acquitting the club's owners of
promoting drug sales and use. The prosecution was making a far unlikely link with music and glow

other hand was when 16 suspects were linked to evidence of ecstasy's appearance in the city to the
illegal raves being held in a warehouse. It was found that rave promoters would purposely keep drug
dealers out but only so they could sell their own product at their rave. This particular case is an exact

Germany, late 1960's, Ralf Hutter and Florian Schneider would meet as students, both studying

time to discover rave culture. Collin (1997) suggests that when it was initially covered by 'The Sun'
in August 1988, reports were largely positive, endorsed as the latest dance craze, with the paper even
marketing its own smiley face logo T–shirts. Hostility quickly ensued however after two deaths
from ecstasy in June and October followed by a police drugs raid on a boat party in November. By
September 1988 "the ritualised sequence of moral panic – exaggerated press reports, misleading
headlines, self appointed moral spokesmen demanding action and weekend on weekend of police
raids – was unfolding" (Collin 1997:90). A Daily Mail editorial (26th June 1989) claimed that "Acid
House is a façade for dealing in drugs of the worst sort on a massive scale" and a "cynical attempt
to trap young people into drug dependency under the guise of friendly pop music events". (cited in
Collin 1997:97). However, as with all moral panics the media's and therefore the public's fears had a
relatively short lifespan (Cohen 1972; McRobbie and Thornton 1995). As raves began move into the

The music started off very slow, with a slow plinking of individual piano keys. This was
accompanied by slow and deliberate movements. A good portion of this section was comprised of
three dancers at the upstage end of the white line with their backs facing towards the audience.
While in this position, the dancers moved only their fully extended arms in swift movements. Their
arms would point in all different directions at some points, but they would all synchronize their
movements at other times. Mr. Brew stated that his inspiration for this part of the dance was the
wind turbines in the field near his apartment in Scotland. The pace picked up and gradually moved
faster throughout the piece. About halfway through, the music took on a more techno feel. This
increased both the intensity and pace of the dancing, with slow movements giving way to jerky,
sharp movements. The transition from the gentler music to the techno music was during a very
acrobatic portion of the dance. There were several lifts that required an immense amount of
communication and strength from the dancers. After the energy of the music increased, so did the
speed of the movements. The rest of the dance involved a lot of rapid movements and walking
around the perimeter of the stage in synchronized movements. The wind turbine effect was used
again during the walking around the stage area

Subculture/Counterculture of Raves

Sociology 100

Raves and Ecstasy Rave. What does one think of the word rave? Does ranting and raving come to
mind as a way of communication or does flashing lights, dance music, and the use of drugs come to
mind? If the youth of society were to be asked this question, every single of one of them would refer
the word rave as a party filled with dance music and ecstasy. This youth movement has evolved into
an electronic music subculture known as rave (Morris 1). A subculture is a separate world within the
larger dominant culture that has the same values of the dominant culture but is different enough to
be classified as a subculture (Henslin 46). The rave subculture can be also be classified as ... Show

They will arrest and criminally prosecute rave promoters and mangers for ultimately making raves
readily available for the use of ecstasy (Karden 99). Rave promoters and managers are also at blame
for making the rave environment suitable for ecstasy users by selling things like pacifiers, light
sticks, and Vicks vapor rub (Kraden 99). Ecstasy users use these types of things to enhance their
high throughout the night. Rave promotors are well aware that pacifiers signify ecstasy use at a rave
and these promotors are going to be the ones at fault for providing a space knowing ecstasy use will
occur. The rave culture is the product of ecstasy. The reasoning behind all the norms of this
counterculture is ecstasy. Even if some rave goers are not using ecstasy, the environment at a rave
that results from ecstasy use can be jus as much considered deviant as actually taking ecstasy
(Tackaberry 1). Although ecstasy produces a congenial and compassionate state of mind, it also
causes a a heightened sense of sexual pleasure (Hess). Therefore, the user might be willing to get
intimate with anyone, girl or guy. According to society, having sexual intercourse with out love is
considered deviant and it is considered even more deviant to partake in same sex intercourse. At a
rave many delinquents can be seen partaking in sexual acts on the dance floor, in the bathrooms, or
even in corners. Another act of deviance that can be witnessed at a rave is nudity.

The A Vessel Of Power

  • 1. The A Vessel Of Power A Vessel of Power Open on a small, hot, loud, and crowded room; emphasis on the loud. The lights are low aside from a glowing stage. Two gangly men are exuding energy and life off the stage and onto the crowd. The mass of people at their feet are responding tenfold, dedicated fans who know every word, every beat. They sing (or scream) along, "I'm trying, I'm trying to sleep. But I can't, but I can't when you all have guns for hands." The room is filled with unusual pairs: old and young, black and white, poor and rich. Despite their differences, they are at home with each other, bound by their shared interest in music and life. The song continues, and hundreds of hands shaped like guns fill the small space between the heads and the ceiling. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The language of an effective song inspires deeper thinking, puts a thought in a new perspective, helps cement prior knowledge, opens the eyes of the audience. These lyrics aid in that "ah ha" moment when people see the world in a new light, or they may serve as reassurance, helping the listener feel understood and less alone. Lyrics can, and should be powerful. The lyrics from Vessel exemplify this power. Every song on the album has at least a few sentences that make listeners stop in their tracks. In some songs, like "Migraine" or "Car Radio," every line does that. "Car Radio" expands on the idea that "Sometimes quiet is violent." It explores the dark places human minds may go if given the opportunity. "Migraine" speaks on the complexity of life, especially elaborating on the loneliness that accompanies not feeling understood and how that loneliness causes depression while encouraging listeners to hope. Knowing there are others out there listening to this song, thinking the same thoughts, even if they are strangers, alleviates that lonely feeling. "Migraine" also urges listeners to keep fighting, to never give up on their life goals or on life itself. The only miss on this criteria from the album comes from, ironically, their most popular song, "House of Gold." The song is a simple ballad to the writer's mother promising to take care of her: sweet, but not exactly thought provoking. Despite this, Vessel definitely exceeds the ... House Music Essay WHO GAVE BIRTH TO HOUSE MUSIC, WHAT HAS INFLUENCED ITS CHANGES AND WHAT HAS DERIVED FROM IT? 11th December 2008 Word Count: 1675 INTRODUCTION As it was known for the culture to build music, nowadays different kinds of music build different cultures. Thus we have Pop culture, Rock culture, Electronic music culture etc. As part of Electronic dance music, House music has managed to, over the years, develop its own culture. It became popular in mid 1980s especially among African–American, Latino and gay population who have build up its culture. Influenced by disco, funk, synthpop and soul, house music has a prominent drum on every beat, 4/4 structure, and may also feature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1987, once again, two boys from Chicago, DJ Pierre and Marshall Jefferson, knew that something had to be done so they have decided to create a new sound by using Roland TB 303 bass synthesizer (the instrument that has appeared in the 1983 in disco via Alexander Robotnick). It was a sound which when emitted from the machine swirl it stabs across House music 4/4 beat and that was completely overpowering the listeners. The first Acid House record was released in the same year by the group of artists formed by Nathan "DJ Pierre" Jones, Earl "Spanky" Smith Jr., and Herbert "Herb J" Jackson. It was created by experimenting with Roland TB 303. The Record was called 'Acid Tracks' and it was played for the first time by Ron Hardy at the Music Box. The name originated from the hallucinogenic effect it had in the clubs, for e.g. One of the first UK clubs where Acid House was introduced was London's 'Shoom' opened by Danny Rampling and his wife in 1987, which was extremely exclusive and featured thick fog, and a dreamy atmosphere alongside Acid House. Rampling's friend, Nick Holloway, who he had been working with on Ibiza over the summer, has also opened a club called 'Trip' in 1988 which was made especially for the Acid house music scene. De Tal Manera Dios Te Amo On Friday, September 1, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. the church Indy Tabernaculo was celebrating it's 13th anniversary under the theme "De Tal Manera Dios Te Amo" that had live music. The musicians performed three pieces from various christian artists. The program included Vivo Estás, Cantaremos de tu gran amor, and Hermoso Nombre/ What a Beautiful Name. Jose Luis Rivas was the pianist and was accompanied by singers, guitarists, a trumpet player, a drummer, and praise dancers. Although this is the church I regularly attend three times a week I am always impressed by the quality of sound and enthusiasm that is portrayed. The concert opened with the song called Vivo Estás/ Alive by Hillsong Young & Free. This piece began quietly. As the drummer was lightly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Origins and Development of Electronic Dance Music and... The Origins and Developments of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and Contemporary Nightlife Musical Culture The origins and developments of Electronic Dance Music initially started with the development of the synthesizer. It was with these first uses of synthesized sounds that prompted the development of sequencers, sampling, effects processing, musical instrument digital interface (MIDI), use of computer technology, hard disk recording systems and modern day virtual studio technology (VST's). These all fundamentally build the genre of electronic music, as we know it today. The development of this new technology brought many new genres to music, mostly popular, Electronic Dance Music being one of these. The Moog Synthesizer was the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the time, British inventor, Peter Zinovieff and American Composer, Raymond Scott were both looking into basic electronic sequencing, however it was Buchla that had the initial breakthrough. Before then, artists were manually cutting up and splicing tape together to achieve sequences and Buchla found an electronic alternative and soon developed his electronic sequencer. This meant that artists would no longer need to go through the time consuming process of cutting up tape for sequencing. Buchla said," you could simply take my sequencer and set the time and the pitch for each interval. So that required, of course, a voltage–controlled oscillator, and from then it led to a bunch of other ideas" (Pinch, 2004, p.40). It was after the moog synthesizer that companies and inventors, much like Buchla, had started to look at other ways of evolving electronics into music. The Minimoog was a monophonic instrument, and instruments like the APR odyssey were soon after introduced that allowed duophony possible on synthesizers. The APR odyssey mk I was released in 1972, and was an aesthetically pleasing duophonic synthesizer, making it easy for a performer to tweak the parameters of the synthesized sound with sliders. By the mid 1970's, well–known companies like Sequential Circuits and Yamaha had developed more advanced keyboard matrices, allowing polyphony to be introduced to the electronic music scene. One ... • 10. Taking a Look at the Electric Daisy Carnimal Introduction The impact of today's music festivals has altered the way the youth culture defines itself as it is constantly expanding to immerse people in a more interactive way to give individuals an unforgettable musical experience that connects the festival goer to the artist and how much the influence of music can impact people. The Electric Daisy Carnival is one of North America's largest dance music festivals and it is noteworthy to understand how it culturally became popular with the influence of electronic music and how is has shaped and changed the modern rave scene in the US. Also known as EDC, this event has gotten bigger every year while creating the best experience for rave goers unlike any other festival. The significance of EDC is that it has changed how raves function here in America and how it is shedding a new light on the stigma raves had in the past. The reason I chose this topic is because people say that music speaks to soul but I believe that EDC is far beyond any other musical experience and feel that this event is judged in so many ways because people don't understand the deepness about what EDC promotes and how it is influencing how young people interact and connect today because of the music. Creators/ Producers The Electric Daisy Carnival has created a unique experience and revolutionized the way raves present themselves to people that later garnered a big following due to the colorful scene and atmosphere at these events ... Concert Ethnography Concert Ethnography: Vijay Iyer Sixtet The performance by the Vijay Iyer Sextet on March 7 at Memorial Hall reveals a deeper connection between jazz and the public's interest in evocative tones. Vijay Iyer is a Grammy–nominated jazz composer and pianist. He is the main composer for the sextet and is seen as the unspoken leader. His sextet is made up of five of his other closest friends, who are all composers and musicians as well. The music this group performs is categorized as improvisational jazz. The use of popular jazz instruments further reveals the performer's intention to give the audience a taste of the sentimental, antique tones of jazz music. As the instrumentation reveals the genre of the music being performed, the stage for the show was set up in a way that highlighted the artists performing solos during the improvisational pieces. For example, the use of lights played a large role in visually isolating the soloists. The lights used during the show only illuminated the performers that were located upstage, while there were no lights used to illuminate downstage. Thus, as performers were not playing in the piece they would move downstage into the darkness. This would cause the focus of the audience to shift to the other performers that were still playing. The intentional movement of the artists downstage reveals the artist's intent to highlight each individual instrument in the sextet and the improvisational skills of the artist playing them. Also, the visual depiction of an artist emerging from the shadows located downstage and playing prompted the audience to clap. The clapping was also prompted after a musician finishes the personal solo improvisational piece within a song. The clapping from the audience when an instrument ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the 1960s, technology evolved and it was accepted and incorporated into various factions of life and society. With rock and roll being associated with hippies, the middle class in society wanted to find something that they could relate to and be classified as a higher social class than the hippies. Musicians and music directors mashed up various sounds and the energetic nature of rock roll was used as an essential way of keeping the crowd engaged and the musicians lively all along. Simon Reynolds explains that the genre's development originated from Detroit, New York, and Chicago, which spread to other parts of the world in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Juan Atkins and Richard Davis, the co–creators of Cybotron, were the early pioneers of Detroit techno. Detroit techno began as an experiment by the DJ's with electronic music and playing it in nightclubs (Reynolds and Reynolds 6). The type of music influenced a specific group of people and created a culture. Before its popularity and diversity, techno music was identified with the African–Americans living in Detroit. African–Americans used the music to express the city's oppressive nature, social and environmental decay. Many people engaged in techno music as a means of freeing themselves from the limitations, prejudice, and preconceptions manifested in Detroit's urban environment. Due to these conditions, a new style of thinking opened up, and people all across the world appreciated techno music because of the incorporation of electronic sound. Cybotron's album, Enter, released in 1983 incorporates various aspects of techno music that makes it appealing to their listeners' ears. Mostly, the album is considered as the genesis of Detroit techno because it was founded on the fundamental principle that electrical instruments are as good as or even better musical allies than human beings. ... • 22. What Is Modern Dance And Who Says What Is Dance? Mackenzie kotos Modern Dance Professor Jessie Laurita Spanglet 4 December 2016 Alwin Nikolais What exactly is modern dance and who says what is dance? Throughout the decades dancers and artists have used this question to push the boundaries and limitations on what is considered dance. Some did this by changing the setting of a dance while others did this by making changes to what can be incorporated into a dance. A great example of a famous choreographer who changed the way others viewed dance was Alwin Nikolais. Alwin Nikolais was born in Connecticut in 1910 and as a young artist studied acting, music, and puppetry. Interestingly enough Alwin explained that he originally began as a pianist out of economic necessity. It was not until age 22 when he attended a performance by Mary Wigman that he became interested in studying dance specifically the percussion instruments Mary used. Mary Wigman was somewhat of a role model to Alwin Nikolais. It was her percussion sounds off stage which truly intrigued Alwin. It was these sounds Alwin was interested in learning but he was told he must learn dance first. Within a year of dancing Alwin became a professional dancer, but his interest in creating rather than performing was stronger. He was interested in the body, how it moved, and what it was made of. He focused on the observation of dance rather than doing it himself. He gained his training at the Bennington College studying with the renowned figures such as Hanya Holm, Martha ... I was with my four other friends fulfilled with euphoria in the car waiting for the moment to get to a place where we felt that all of our problems will be sorted. We bought the tickets weeks before the venue and we were all counting the days back with full of excitement like little kids around Christmas and the day had come. When we got off the road the beat of the music in the background just hit our ears. As we approached to the scene the music got louder with our excitement as well and we finally got there. Hundreds of our friends were already jumping around to our special music in the hangar with the hugest smile in their face. I could feel the love in the air in the shadow of the laser lights. We were so happy that we could not describe in words. This made us feel that we don't have to worry about anything in our life, that we part of a family where everyone respects each other. That's what made us feel different and being part of something that not many people could tell back in the days. Can't deny that club drugs helped to achieve this feeling and it was a massive part of it as well. We were confused teenagers who desperately tried to find the way to make sense of this whole world. The way the synth sets up Paul Jason Klein vocals in a way that the music and vocals blend in together can be seen in other songs, such as "the Breakup", "ILYSB", and "Good Girls". Being such a versatile instrument, LANY is able to use it in every song and create a wide range of tones and vibes in their music. This is evident throughout the album in fast paced music, and slow songs, such as "It was Love" and "13". The sound produced from the synth is crucial for LANY as the sound the synth combined with the lyrics gives produces an atmosphere that is unique to LANY. While not as obvious and frequently used as LANY, Oh Wonder's utilization of the synth also compliments the singers voices. Most notably, in the song "Body Gold" when Josephine sings the lines, "Let it go, paint my body gold. Take our bodies higher and higher and higher". In this part of the chorus Oh Wonder introduces the sound of a synth and subtle autotune when she sings the lyrics. This is important to the song because the introduction of the sounds in the chorus become distorted. • 38. Rainbow Six Character Analysis Every individual who puts pen to paper, producing a story, has a style. More specifically, all accomplished authors have a way of writing that makes them unique. In techno–thriller novel Rainbow Six – a story about a counterterrorism team that faces a series of progressively difficult attacks – author Tom Clancy writes in a highly descriptive, ideological, and informative manner. Distinctly prominent in Clancy's work, such factors can all be established with a look beyond the surface of his writing. A writer with a descriptive manner can cover a broad spectrum of subjects including character development, setting, and imagery – all of which create a very realistic and entertaining story. Clancy himself stated that, "The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense." These words precisely describe how this accomplished American author writes. Unlike other authors, Thomas Leo Clancy Jr. uses detailed and subtle character development in his writing. No matter the importance of the character's role to the plot, Clancy provides each with a description that brings them to life. In the novel, Rainbow Six, the story shifts to the perspective and thoughts of a man working at an amusement park. "De la Cruz liked that. His own sons were now in the Spanish army, following their father's footsteps,..."(Clancy 310). This brief statement about this extremely minor character of the novel is a perfect example of how Clancy encourages readers to notice his characters as real people, rather than just fictional figures. Shifting views, another important aspect of Tom Clancy's writing is his unique use of visual description. In a closing shootout scene from the visual and physical perspectives of both the shooter and the unfortunate victim of the shot, this novelist's descriptive methods are expressed. He states that, "Killgores mind didn't have time to analyze what had happened to him, just the impacts in his chest, and now he was looking straight up into the treetops where there were small cracks of blue and white from the distant sky... Sergeant Pierce wondered, his three rounds had sprinkled across the chest, missing the heart but ripping into the upper lungs and major blood vessels,..." (Clancy 883–884). ... • 42. Collective Improvisation: New Orleans And Chicago Dixieland Collective improvisation is when a group of musicians improvise to form a complete, multilayered song. While it comes with rules, it also comes with the freedom of individual expression. "Improvisation should not be equated with total freedom" (Collective Improvisation Lecture, Part 1). In other words, it is a group effort, not an allowance for musical anarchy. This lesson covered 2 types of collective improvisation: New Orleans Dixieland and Chicago Dixieland. Today, there are still examples of collective improv. in multiple music styles. The process of collective improvisation is a flexible interaction between musicians to create a unique, textured piece of music. While some of the players were able to add their own interpretation of the music, they had to stay close to the original piece. • 48. Drug And Music : The Effects Of Electronic Drugs And Drugs Drugs and music have been closely tied together throughout much of history, with each particular genre typically having a drug closely associated with it. For jazz music, we have musicians such as Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk of the 1940s who brought upon the glorification of opium with their music. Fast forward to the 60s when the rise of psychedelic rock bands such as The Grateful Dead, The Doors, The Beatles and Pink Floyd attempted to replicate the effects of LSD within their music. In the 80s, cocaine was linked to popular glam metal bands such as Van Halen and Motley Crue. As the late 80s and early 90s came around, it was ecstasy's turn to take the spotlight. Techno, House, Acid House, and rave culture were starting to burst into popularity within the underground music scenes of Detroit, Chicago, and in various places within Europe. These DJs such as Nicky Halloway and Phil Hartnoll, like the musicians of the past, were well aware of the rampant ecstasy use at their performances and their music was often influenced by said drug use. However, what they may not have been aware of was the sheer dependence of ecstasy on the music and the music on ecstasy. Unlike times past where the music and the drug would have a seemingly superficial bond, ecstasy and electronic dance music's bond extends far beyond any superficial barrier. The First Song that I heard was Car Radio, at first i thought it was a really catchy song but I never really thought what the song had said or meant. Once I really listened to the song I started to listen to more of there songs. Tyler came up with the band's name while studying All My Sons by Arthur Miller, a play about a man who must decide what is best for his family after causing the death of twenty–one pilots during World War II because he knowingly sent them faulty parts ... Twenty One Pilots music is a combination of many types of music it has Alternative hip hop, Electro pop, Indie pop, and rock music, some of his songs also have a little of rap. When Tyler sings the songs in a performance, he usually sings them a little bit different or adds something on to make the songs unique when he is performing. Twenty One Pilots concerts always have lots of lights that match up with the techno sounds, and in my opinion it pumps up the crowd. Twenty One Pilots songs didn't really change from the songs before. One thing that did change is that the songs are a little bit more catchy. The songs also have more of a techno sound that before, but they are still really good songs. The song Car Radio is a song a little bit similar then other songs from Twenty One Pilots, but it also has a really good beat, and the lyrics go well with the techno music. I think that people really like Twenty One Pilots, because of their music and it really speaks to all of their fans. Many of people know twenty one pilots because of stressed out, but i don't think that Stressed Out really shows what Twenty One Pilots is about. There are lots of other songs that show what the band is really about, and I think Car Radio is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Firstly it showed how human beings are individually blowing the glasses and making artistic pieces out of it like decorative materials, bottles, and cups etc., followed by the mechanical large scale mass production of bottles which is mainly done by machines. It is found that the film is divided into three clearly defined chapters. In the first chapter we mainly see the improvisatory method of glass blowing where artisans are applying their individual artistic abilities in order to create glass objects with a unique art impression. Whereas the second chapter involves the mechanical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It looks as if the music is been created by them, implying that whatever they are doing is also highly artistic it's not just a mechanical production. This chapter of the movie involves wide use of synchresis and is an ideal example of musical synchresis. Synchresis is the term coined by French theorist Michel Chion which means synchronisation + synthesis. Since synchresis is the phenomena of establishing a cause and effect relation between image and sound when they occur together as if the image is causing the sound, or the sound is outcome of whatever is happening on screen. As the sequence progresses the music also becomes faster in order to accompany the faster editing pattern where we see a perfect amalgamation of mechanical production of glasses with machines and human beings. Soon it is found out that everyone in that town has died. It is believed that the satellite returned with a deadly microorganism. When a team known as Wildfire goes to inspect the satellite they discover a man named Peter and a baby named Jamie who have survived. The two survivors and the satellite are taken back to the Wildfire lab. In the lab the microbe is given the codename Andromeda. Upon investigation the scientists find out that the microbe mutates during every life cycle, but only in a certain pH range. The scientists also find out that a normal human's blood pH level fits inside this range. The reason the two humans survived is because their blood. pH level is extremely different than a normal human's. • 63. Is EDM Beruly Intellectual? Is EDM actually intellectual? Modern generations witnessed its rise from the beginning of the new century. Lives of teenagers (and older) worldwide have been influenced by it. It has become an unavoidable element for all the places in the world where joy, youth and life are celebrated. One should not be mislead by these statements, since EDM is simply more than that. It should be considered intellectual because of its variety, composition and complexity, and high knowledge of properties of sound and appropriate hardware/software it demands. EDM (acronym, stands for electronic dance music) is a range of genres historically produced for nightclubs and parties. Origins of EDM may be traced all the way from the emergence of synthesizers and other more advanced technologies that replaced traditional instruments. It was approximatelly in late 1970s and early 1980s when synthpop, house and techno, the forerunners of our EDM, initially appeared. What makes EDM special is that it can draw inspiration from and adopt any of these (and all of their subgenres), but in the same time remains the ability to be recognized as unique. For instance, there is a trip hop, "a fusion of hip hop and electronica until neither genre is recognizable" (DJ Shadow. Slant Magazine) and there is also a trance, "a genre on its own, but also includes other styles of electronic music such as techno, pop and chill–out" (Fassbender). The deliberation ended with the jury acquitting the club's owners of promoting drug sales and use. The prosecution was making a far unlikely link with music and glow sticks with the use of drugs, which cannot be made synonymous. The work was choreographed by Marc Brew and there was a Q&A session after the performance where he shared some of his inspiration for the concept of the piece: most of it came from visual artist Carl Andre's work with minimalism. Specifically, the works Spill, 8 cuts, and Copper Ribbon were cited as major sources of inspiration. He also stated that Divide was meant to be an abstract piece that explored human interaction in movement, time, and space. A good portion of this section was comprised of three dancers at the upstage end of the white line with their backs facing towards the audience. While in this position, the dancers moved only their fully extended arms in swift movements. Their arms would point in all different directions at some points, but they would all synchronize their movements at other times. Mr. Brew stated that his inspiration for this part of the dance was the wind turbines in the field near his apartment in Scotland. The pace picked up and gradually moved faster throughout the piece. About halfway through, the music took on a more techno feel. This increased both the intensity and pace of the dancing, with slow movements giving way to jerky, sharp movements. The transition from the gentler music to the techno music was during a very acrobatic portion of the dance. There were several lifts that required an immense amount of communication and strength from the dancers. After the energy of the music increased, so did the speed of the movements. Does ranting and raving come to mind as a way of communication or does flashing lights, dance music, and the use of drugs come to mind? If the youth of society were to be asked this question, every single of one of them would refer the word rave as a party filled with dance music and ecstasy. This youth movement has evolved into an electronic music subculture known as rave (Morris 1). Ecstasy users use these types of things to enhance their high throughout the night.
