and rituals. People judge religion by their narrow knowledge about their rituals and customs because
they are abnormal to them. Majority of the stereotypes are believed to be true because of their lack
of understanding. The consequence of the results is the development of stereotypes that are both
negative and positive. Two major religions of India, Hinduism and Sikhism, are often the targeted
audiences of the stereotyping of the western popular culture.
Originated and practiced primarily by the majorities in India, hinduism is the third largest religion

Hinduism is the third most practiced and one of the oldest religion in the world. It is mostly
practiced in south Asian countries like India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. India is also called "Hindustan"
because it has the majority of the people who practice the religion. It has been evolving over
thousands or years and will continue to. One of the things that are admired the most by Hindus is the
rivers and the most favorite of them all is the Ganges River. It is the symbol of purity and holds the
sacred power to purify.
The Ganges River is considered the holiest place for Hindus and is located in Varanasi, Uttar
Pradesh, India. It is consider as a Goddess. Many people believe that their sins could be washed

Unlike other religions across the world, Hinduism does not have a specific way of worship, or a god
and scriptures to be used. The religion that is considered to be the oldest has an array of beliefs and
practices within it, and therefore many have always referred to it as a family religion or a way of
life. In the recent years, it has been established that there is a way in conformation to an almost

There are almost 196 nations in the world. Each country is known for its religious beliefs and
culture. In each country, there are various kinds of people living on the globe. Each religion is
somehow connected to provide peace in the world. While coming to my country, India is also well
known for its prosperity and richness of having different people admiring their own religions.
Secondly, Indian constitution allows the citizens of India to follow their own religion. They are also
allowed to change their religion any point in their lives. Several religions such as Hindu, Islam,
Christian, Sikh and Buddha are followed by people living in India. However, majority of people
follow Hindu religion. Over 80% of the population follow Hinduism in India. In my opinion, I
would like to say Hinduism is a way of living the life rather than just only religions or bunch of

After reading the article, I think rituals have some basic structures of meaning, and there are number
of ways to show that rituals are meaningful. In the following thesis I choose Hinduism as an

Learning about both Hinduism and Buddhism, particularly about the art and architecture of both
cultures made me realize they are not that different as I thought first. Both cultures are beautiful and
rich, and if someone takes a deeper look can see that they are depending on each other. Many people
forget that Buddha was born into a Hindu society, and his views and beliefs which led to a brand
new culture are based on Hinduism. Of course I am not saying the two are the same because that

Hinduism itself is indeed a very interesting religion and way of life. Majority of people that follow
Hinduism can be located in India and Nepal, where 80% regard themselves as Hindu. It is the
world's oldest religion being traced back to thousands of years ago. Hinduism is the third largest
religion in the world, following Christianity and Islam, with 15% or about 900 million people
following it globally. The word hinduism means "eternal spirit path", where many come and hope
that this religion will lead them to peace and happiness.
The surprising thing about HInduism is that there is no one founder, no single scripture, and no
agreed set of teachings. This religion is basically open to change and different interpretations of the
teachings. Luckily, Hinduism can be traced back to the Aryans who lived back in 2nd millennium
BCE. These people loved around the Indus Valley, thus causing Hinduism to originate from that
region. The Aryans recorded their philosophy, religion , and customs into sacred writings known as
the Vedas. The Vedas contain four Vedic texts where the fundamental teachings of hinduism can be
found, especially in the concluding portion of the texts known as the Vedanta.
