“For Each Of Us, Life Is A Journey. Heavenly Father Designed
"For each of us, life is a journey. Heavenly Father designed it for us out of love. Each of us has unique experiences and characteristics, but our
journey began in the same place before we were born into this world" (Henry B. Eyring, Brainy Quotes, Retrieved April 21, 2017). Each of us is
placed on this earth for a purpose that is only known to God. However, while we seek that purpose and His will, He has given us the free will to
behave and interact with our surroundings as we see fit. The discussion in this paper covers the spectrum of attributes and my current position among
them. Using the McGraw–Hill Connect assessment, I was not overly surprised by the results. Within the scope of my career, more specifically the last
five years, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, I accept the moderate rating of personality. As depicted in other areas of the assessment, my personality is adaptable and flexible,
which is in many ways the standard operating expectation within the military. Values and Attributes Insights Integrity first...Service Before

branded into the depths of my being. However, we are taught through the ten commandments, that there are many other values that are
exponentially more important. This assessment proved as much as it showed power as my lowest score. I know God has ultimate power and
while I have free will here on earth, He has control. The rest of the values measured in the medium and high levels of importance. The highest were
in achievement and in benevolence, which I feel are spot on. My drive stems from my ability to achieve the goals I have set in personal, family,
faith, and work environments. While at the same time, compassion in all areas of my life are integral. God showed His compassion and love when
He sent His Son in John 3:16, "For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not
perish but have eternal life" (Holman Bible Publishers (Nashville, Tenn.), 2004, John 3:16). Motivation

Mark : The Gospel Of Mark Essay
Mark: The Gospel of Mark tells the story of Jesus Christ's life from when he was baptized by John the Baptist until the days of his death, and his
resurrection. Mark was the second of four Gospels although some Scholars argue and insist Mark was the first Gospel written 1. Mark was written
by John Mark in AD 65, with a target audience of Roman Christian beleivers 2. Mark was written in a unique manner in regards to literary genre, as
it contains figures of speech, and portray life situations in a passionate story like setting that can make the reader feel as if he is there 3. The Gospel of
Mark is the shortest of the four Gospels, however it is written in a manner that emphasizes more so on Jesus's works than Jesus's words 4. The key
theme in Mark is to portray the life of Jesus Christ as the son of God 5, and the purpose was to show the human qualities and emotions that Jesus
displayed from anger (Mark 3:5), and compassion (Mark 1:41). Some of the key events of Jesus Christ's life in the Gospel Mark include his
miracles, his entrance into Jerusalem, the last supper, his arrest and trial, his crucifixion, his resurrection, and his ascension 6. The Gospel of Mark
ends with his instruction to the eleven Apostles "And he said unto them "Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to the whole creation" (Mark
16:16), and his ascension into Heaven (Mark 16:19).

Should Prayer Be Taken Out Of Schools
So many times after the pledge of allegiance, the moment of silence is taken into account, to pray for many things that happen in the world. Now,
there is an argument and controversy in that; prayer or acts of religion should be taken out of school. School prayer should not be taken out of schools
because it brings unity between people, a form of expression, and builds morality. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus says, "Leave the children alone, and don't
try to keep them from coming to Me, because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this" (Holman Christian Standard Bible). Being with
other believers, in the faith, for unity to grow stronger and be accountable. Even if it may be different denominations, they are still a part of a family ...

Through life, doors will be open and closed, but it is a choice one has to make. "We often forget that an important part of religious freedom is the
acceptance" (Defend Your Rights). Morality is a big part of everyday life, in the same way, just as prayer in school is important to some people, it
all goes hand in hand with morality coinciding with prayer. Morality are the principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good
and bad behavior. Morality put into the school can do nothing due to the wicked way of the world, yet if prayer is continued; then that prayer helps
make decisions to help make the world a little better. "We see only the results which a man's choices make out of his raw material. ButGod does not
judge him on the raw material at all, but on what he has done with it" (Lewis 71). In Lewis' book Mere Christianity, he talks about how morality turns
into a psychoanalysis that ultimately reflects on how the flesh, or body, acts with the world. With prayer in school, morality becomes very important to
Mathias 4 how people live their lives in the way God wants them to. For Christians, prayer is a tool that is used for guidance, spiritually and personally
through all the challenges that Satan brings. In the school system, prayer lays a foundation that is upheld with the values taught there. Understanding
that school and spiritual life is on two different spectrums,

Abortion Is Morally Wrong?
Introduction We can all agree that abortion is a controversial issue debated in our society today, especially in Texas, which is one of the most
conservative's states in the nation. Some people argue that abortion is morally wrong, because it has to do with ending a life which, according
proponents begins at conception, not at birth. Others contest that it is a woman 's constitutional right to make reproductive decisions, particularly in
situations of rape, incest, and health risks. In this paper I will survey the viewpoints regarding abortion presented by conservatives, Christian scholars,
and advocates of women 's reproductive rights.
How does Conservatives View Abortion? As we have been discussing in our government class, we have learned thatTexas is made up of Republicans,
making it a conservative state. Conservative meaning, they want to preserve their old ways of taking decisions, they stand on tradition, and they have
the tendency to conserve and preserve old way. According to Governing Texas and Introduction to Texas Politics it states that "Texas today is a
political community that is dominated by the Republican Party" (Champage; Harpham; Governing Texas pg.4). It also goes on to say what kind issues
are Republicans most conservative with. The government book goes on to articulate that, "In recent years, the Texas Republican Party has advocated
increasingly conservative political positions on a variety of social and economic issues, including abortion, birth

Worship and Music
Passionately Pursing our God in Music and Worship Music is of God's creation and an integral part of our lives, yet much of the current experience is
one of the most emotionally charged and divisive issues facing the Christian Church, families, and individuals in America today. Pastors, worship
leaders, trained musicians, and believers in general face new and powerful forces of change – forces that bring renewal to some churches and fear and
schism to others. No one can sidestep the hot debate between such matters as the various styles of music, hymns versus choruses, seeker services
versus worship services, choirs versus worship teams, organs versus synthesizers, and flowing praise versus singing one song at a time. With billions of

Hopefully, the church will exercise diligent study of the more than six hundred passages in the Scriptures that will gradually define this issue of
musical belief and practice in more biblical terms based on solid exegesis of God's Word.
The purpose of worship is to attribute worth to God (Psalm 27:6), to praise God (Psalm 150:3–4), to lift the emotions of the heart (Ephesians 5:18–19),
to learn Scripture and spiritual truths by singing (Psalm 32:7–8), to introduce others to Jesus Christ (Psalm 40:3), to instruct and convict through the
proclamation and singing of scriptural texts (Isaiah 55:11; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Ephesians 5:15–21), and to encourage obedience (James 1:25). God is
the primary focus of our worship endeavors, but we must also consider the effect of our worship upon one another. John Frame addresses this issue,
stating, "The focus of our effort in worship should be on pleasing [God]. From this principle, some might conclude that we should not pay any
attention to human needs in worship. Talk like that can sound very pious, but it is unbiblical. In worship, we should not be so preoccupied with God
that we ignore one another. For example, worshipers should not ignore the needs of the poor (Isaiah 1:10–17).

My Personal Experience Of God
В¶ 324.9a – Describe your personal experience of God and the understanding of God you derive from biblical, theological, and historical sources.
My personal experience of God is based on my life experiences and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I have experienced God's presence in my
life and I have felt the Holy Spirit guiding me. I first felt God's call as a teenager and prayed that one day I would become a pastor. But my new
Christian faith was not strong enough and I soon succumbed to the desires of this world. I refused to recognize God's call and it took decades for
God's prevenient grace to bring me back into fellowship with God's Son. More than a decade ago I felt God's call again but this time in a completely
different way. This time my faith was strong and I had that personal relationship with God's Son. During my Emmaus Pilgrim Walk in 2007 my
teenage prayers came back to me. Calmness overcame me like none I had ever experienced and for the first time in my life I knew that God had set me
aside for this purpose. I felt God's call in a way I had never felt before and I knew that the Spirit had been preparing me all these years to become a
pastor. I realize now that God saw me as I could be, not what I was at that time! God never gave up on me and I now believe that God answered my
prayers so that everyone else would know that only God could have changed my heart and the direction of my life. From a biblical perspective my

?Money: The Root of All Evil– Or Is It??
There is much that has been extrapolated from the so–called Parable of the Dishonest Manager, found in Luke chapter 16:1–15. Most scholars agree
that this parable is indeed the most difficult of Jesus?s parables to interpret. Understandably so, there have been many interpretations of the pericope
over these many years. Alyce M. McKenzie in her book The Parables for Today, cites the following:
This parable is one of the strangest of the strange. Commentators are all over the map in their opinions of what we should ... Show more content on

The metaphor suggests that church people do not own anything, instead they are managers of God?s property. They are supposed to figure how much
of a return God has a right to expect from the property entrusted to them.?[footnoteRef:14] Herein lays the acid test of money. When the parable of the
Dishonest Manager is compared to the parable of the Lost Son (Luke 15:11–32), a wealthy father may entrust his son with a small amount of
responsibility before he comes of age. The son?s faithfulness in a little shows that he will also be faithful over everything that will ultimately be
entrusted to him later (verse 10). [14: James R. Adams,?From Literal to Literary: The Essential Reference Book for Biblical Metaphors, 2nd ed.

Christian Views on Poverty and Wealth
Christian Views on Poverty and Wealth
Distinctions made between the wealthy and the poor are known to measure not only standards of living, but the standard of human character. In the
Christian perspective, how one acts upon their wealth or poverty is often a measure of godliness. In present day, the gap between the rich and the
poor continues to grow. Even within the wealthiest nations, disparities between the wealthy and the poor are increasing as fewer people are
experiencing monetary success while the poor are becoming poorer (Ondari, 2001). Therein lies the paradox for Christians, as the growing
discrepancy between the rich and the poor occurs in a world that God has blessed with profusion, and has created a world for every person to live a
respectable and comfortable life. Understanding the Christian views on poverty and wealth first requires defining the two entities as they pertain to
human existence. The central definition of poverty is the experience of material deprivation, and also consists of isolation, dependence, and lack of
freedom as personal choice (Ondari, 2001). Concepts of wealth extend beyond material possessions, and incorporate access to food, opportunity,
security, physical and emotional health (Clapsis, 2002).
Christian studies on human nature recognize the human body as a spiritual entity, and human character is reflected in the context of such social
symbols as wealth and poverty. How Christians react to, and cope with, wealth and poverty

Organization:Problem–Cause–Solution
Audience analysis:The audience consists of three of the adult teachers, one male and two females, from my Sunday school class at Pleasant Hill
Christian Church.
Topic: The problem I aim to address is that of the lifelong scars that affect a victim of childsexual abuse; and how it hinders one from seeking God for
healing and understanding according to Scripture.
Rhetorical Purpose: To inform my audience about the intense emotional secrecy resulting from childhood sexual abuse, and to persuade them that as
teachers of God's word they should be prepared to expect the unexpected while providing non–judgmental support and guidance to the victims working
through issues of trust, intimacy and identity while seeking a personal relationship with Christ.
Redemptive Purpose:For a number of reasons, most sexually abused children never share "the secret" of their abuse that is most often committed by
someone the child knows. Therefore, crippling their lives is the loss of self–worth, overwhelmed with shame, and fearful of developing relationships
that prevents them from experiencing life as God intended throughout Scripture. The solution I propose is to understand how God sees the problem
while providing a safe atmosphere while share Christ–like love and compassion enabling the victims to break the power of the secret and live for Christ.

Of these, James the half–brother is the most likely candidate. Some scholars might prefer James the son of Zebedee but his early martyrdom likely
negates this possibility because in Acts 12:2 his death is indicated to have occurred around A.D. 44.6
Literary Context The book of James is not very tidy when it comes to fitting into any of the other genres of literature. Some consider it to more of a
circular rather than an epistle and it is quite possible that both Paul and Peter had read the Epistle of James, at least there are several coincidences
between them.7 Because it was written to such a broad audience and because it contains many references to the Old Testament, James hardly fits into
any category very neatly. Therefore, it may be best to see James as a literary circular since it does not address any particular needs at a given moment.
James was apparently teaching the victims of the Diaspora.
The structure of the Book of James begins as a letter and later vacillates between topics, at times appearing to be more of a sermon addressed to those
in the congregation of Jewish Christians. Considered by some to be wisdom literature, James introduces and argues for several topics and themes. In
James 2:16–26, the themes of faith, good works, and proper treatment of the poor. At times the structure of James resembles blocks of teaching and
exhortation. Luther even accused the author of "throwing things together.... Chaotically."8 Regardless of

Reflecting On Judaism As A Christian
Reflecting on Judaism as a Christian As I have learned about my Christian faith, I have always wondered why Christianity does not fall more in line
with the Judaism, their traditions, and their celebration of their festivals. The Bible calls the Israelites God's chosen people, and throughout the Old
Testament He shows His love for them by the way He led them by a pillar of smoke by day and by a pillar of fire at night. Comparing the old
covenant to the new covenant, the Bible says "not like the covenant that I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by their hands to lead
them out of the land of Egypt. I disregarded them, says the Lord, because they did not continue in My covenant" (Hebrews 8:9, Holman Christian
Standard Bible), then states in Hebrews 8:10 "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will
put My laws into their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people". These verses answered some of the
questions on why Christianity didn't follow the same traditions as in Judaism religion. While comparing the Old Testament to the New testament it
becomes clear why Christians are different.
One of the major problems is that we assume to understand Judaism, is we believe and read the Old Testament, in our journey to become stronger in
our own relationship with Jesus Christ. Another misunderstanding is that as a Christian, we think that they need to have a savior.

Christian Hypocrisy: An Inevitable Crisis
On a universal level, it is safe to presume that every individual could be deemed as a fraud based on the general characterization of the expression.
Moral values, ethics, even spiritual beliefs are often compromised or purposely overlooked in subtle situations, extraneous circumstances, unplanned
mishaps, stressful positions. Yet, when does this insincerity develop into a serious problem; especially when one looks at the religious issues and
conflicts which derive from these predicaments? Considering how America is frequently attached to the Christian religion, it is no revelation that there
are Christian hypocrites that may dwell in the country. Because Christian hypocrisy on an individual basis has become such a widespread norm, it is ...

In Genesis 34 there is the story of Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, who was defiled by an infatuated prince named Shechem. He raped Dinah and then
asked for her brothers to give her to him as a wife. Instead of accepting what had happened, Dinah's brothers responded by slaughtering every male in
the Shechem's city, plundering their household, and capturing the women and children (Holman Christian Standard Bible, Gen. 34.1–29). This outraged
response ought to spark the realization that defiling a person against their will should not be practiced among believers. Sadly, in January 2010, one
pastor at a Newcastle church openly admitted to raping six young boys between the ages of nine and twelve when he held "counseling sessions" for
the children (Peters 1). These heinous crimes were repeated copiously and his abuse of power clearly destroyed young lives that could possibly be
forever traumatized. Obviously when a preacher affiliates himself with corrupt offenses it earns a front–cover page, but some of these sinful deeds are
still kept under wrap. This suggests duplicity could very well be found on all levels: from ordinary church–goers to prominent leaders in the church.
This pervasive insincerity among individuals and the toleration coupled with it consequently leads to hypocrisy in the church as a whole. For example,
one of Jesus' major teachings was remaining humble by not worshiping

Even early church writers contested the validity of what Luther referred to as an "epistle of straw", even denigrating it as a leftover from Judaic
writers. Even recent commentary writer Sophie Laws referred to "the epistle of James is an oddity. It lacks almost all of what might be thought to be
the distinctive marks of Christian faith and practice." The Luther casts further doubt on the authenticity of this epistle. The target audience for the book
of James is the early practitioners of Christianity or the early church, in particular, those persecuted for their faith and scattered in the Diaspora are of
particular importance in James. Non–believers are not addressed in this passage. James forcefully corrects what he perceives to be a misunderstanding
concerning the cooperative relationship between faith and works. The Gospels and other epistles are directed at informing those who have not yet
heard the message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is
the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast (Eph. 2:8–9)." Commentator Kent Hughes helpfully points out that "Paul's teaching about faith

Plagiarism In The United States
Abstract
Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in
need. (Eph 4:28)
Exodus 20:1–17 includes one of the first statements many of us ever hear and recall from our bible scriptures, "Thou shalt not steal." By Greek
translation, "character" means to engrave, scribe or etch. Our character is a reflection of our values, which we engrave on the world and the people
around us as we act and interact according to them. In education, our perception of stealing is significantly different. Unlike someone breaking into your

To some degree this true, in that plagiarizing words does take them from the mouth and mind of the original author, leaving them with an inability to
utilize them until returned. In essence it is as Pettigrew (2010) indicates, "...taking the work of another and passing it off as your own is not that you've
taken the work...you've passed it off as your own. Plagiarism, therefore, is not stealing. It's counterfeiting." On a penalty grid, counterfeiting hold a
much stiffer penalty than simple theft, so perhaps this puts it in a better perspective.
From a societal perspective, plagiarism is seen as an anticipated but unfortunate matter of fact, somewhat like a social faux pas (Martin, 1994). If
someone in a high level position were to be revealed for plagiarism, certainly there would be embarrassment and some stigma associated with such
knowledge (Green, 2002) but when considered against all possible offenses, likely downplayed as minor. Sadly, these incidents are happening younger

carries a very negative stigma in today's society. As nurses, we know that those with mental illness are no different from those with hypertension or

Rhetorical Analysis Of ' The Law Of Moses '
Exodus is often looked at as being a book about how all the complaining and grumbling that the Israelites did after God rescued them for the hands of
Egypt, while punishing the Pharaoh and the Egyptians for their worshiping of other gods. God laid out the Ten Commandments to guide His holy
people. While the heart of men was still full of sin God gave His people the Law of Moses to guide them and to help set up their civil courts. The Law
of Moses are boundaries set by God to keep His people faithful to Him. Reading biblical law integrates three research groups, law, jurisprudence, and

Job Satisfaction In The Military
The concept of job satisfaction is not new; the Bible says "There is nothing better for man than to eat, drink, and enjoy his work." (Ecclesiastes

satisfied with your job quite simply implies that an employee feels positively about their job. Alternatively, job dissatisfaction is feeling negatively
about one's job. (Robbins, et al. 79) Job satisfaction and dissatisfaction is based on personal opinions, job tempo has a profound affect on those

room of men. This angered King Xerxes, and he turned to his advisors for what appropriate actions should be taken against the queen for
disobedience. "If it pleases his majesty, let him issue a royal decree – and let it be written as one of the laws of the Persians and Medes, which are
irrevocable – that Vashti is never again to be admitted into the presence of King Achashverosh, and that the king give her royal position to someone
better than she" (Stern 1089–1090). King Xerxes had Queen Vashti removed from her position as queen, and she was never summoned before him
again, for the word of the king was final and could not be rescinded. Upon the advice of his closest trustees and advisors, a beauty pageant was held at
the palace, and all of the most eligible virgins of all the provinces were to come to Susa as prospects to replace Queen Vashti.

Religious Liberty Paper
Is our society's strict adherence to religious freedoms costing the lives of innocent children? The Christian Science Church rely on the Establishment
Clause and The Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment as granting themselves and their children exemption from medical intervention. But
because of their insistence in relying solely on prayer for the healing their sick children, approximately one child a month in the U.S. is known to die
from an illness that would have been curable had they had medical attention. 1 Religious liberties of parents might protect their beliefs, but it should not

As American Christians we should rally around Constitutionally protected religious liberties granted under the First Amendment clauses but not those

Compare And Contrast Plato Descartes And The Cave
Plato, Descartes, and The Matrix

1. Compare and contrast The Matrix with the readings from Plato and Descartes. What are some similarities and differences? After readingPlato's "The
Allegory of the Cave," Descartes' "Meditation I of the Things of Which We May Doubt," and the synopsis of the movie The Matrix, they each
challenge us on our perceptions of the truth of reality and our ability to handle learning those truths. All three of these works doubt the reality of the
world around us; therefore questioning through our senses if it is materialistic, objective or simply an illusion. In The Matrix movie, the story
depicts the human race trapped in a simulated, virtual or false reality that is computer generated. Plato's "Allegory of the Cave," the story depicts a
group of prisoners bound up in chains, being only able to perceive reality from the shadows of figures on the walls as they presented. Socrates said,
"Then in every way such prisoners would deem reality to be nothing else than the shadows of the artificial object." (Plato) In Descartes' Meditation, he

confident that everything related to this earthly world is both real and tangible based on how we perceive it through our senses. God not only tells
us that He created the world around us along with our senses to perceive it; but our senses can be deceived or mislead, and that while here on Earth
our senses are imperfect. Our text sums it up nicely with "While it is true that we can be misled by our senses, it is also true that they give us good

Why Is Abortion Wrong
People today are battling over whether to let a child live or not. Fifty percent (50%) of Americans call abortion morally wrong, while thirty–nine
percent (39%) call it morally acceptable. Only half of the United States thinks that abortion is wrong and over a quarter of it thinks it is acceptable
in this culture. The correct option is obvious and that is to let the child live. There are many reasons why this is the right option. Killing humans is
not right. People today have been exposed to the wrong ideals. Women choose to abort their child because they perceive it as an accident; it was not
supposed to happen. Everything happens for a reason because it is a part of God's plan. Abortion should be illegal because it is murder, it goes against
God's word, and there are alternate options for the baby. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Letter To The Book Of Ephesians
Ephesians
I chose the book of Ephesians because It's my favorite book. From chapter one straight through until the end, it is inspirational and encouraging. The
book of Ephesians was penned by Paul the apostle, while he was imprisoned. This letter was written to the church in Ephesus. Ephesus is located in
the western Asia Minor at the mouth of the Caster River, an important Seaport (HCSB, 2010). The message of this letter is so powerful. Paul opens
this book by encouraging the audience to give thanks for the amazing work of the cross and all the blessings that entail the work of the cross upon
reception of Christ. Paul encourages the unite created by God known as family; solidifying humanity, both Jew and Gentile. Teachings of church

The biblical city of Ephesus, is located as mentioned prior in the western Asia Minor at the mouth of the Cayster River as seen in the map to the
left. The great location for the city of Ephesus made it a crucial seaport and a central location for commercial growth. At the time of the Apostle Paul
the city of Ephesus was said to be the fourth largest city in the world (Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary, eBook). Although this city represents a
great part of the Christian movement and the Ephesians church, it wasn't founded as such. The city of Ephesus was founded by a group of people
called the Leleges and Carians which were later driven out by the Greek. The worship of the goddess of fertility was the religious practice of the time.
Disaster struck the city in 365 B.C. when a fire destroyed the Artemision Temple. Finally, the city was completely taken over and rebuilt by the
Romans, which was the influence that made it the fourth largest city in the world. This great city was associated with the ministries of Paul, Timothy

Also, a succinct clarification about the setting in which it was written and will give an outlook of the backdrop of the chapter from a chronological
standpoint.
The second word of verse one pertains primarily with the authorship of the chapter. Historically, it has been recognized exclusively that Psalm 23 was
authored by David.2
The provenance of Psalm 23 may be estimated to have been written in the wilderness at the time of David's flight from Absalom.3 The time of the
authorship of Psalm 23 likely took place in the range from the monarchic to the Maccabean periods.4 While both the place and the time of the
instigation of Psalm 23 may be speculated, the backdrop is revealed upon within the chapter.
The setting may be determined by a crisis in the backdrop, as the first four verses can attest.5 Although we may not establish what the exact difficulty
is, an obvious problem is apparent expressly in verse 4.

Comparison Of Geryon In Dante's 'The Divine Comedy'
Dante's poem The Divine Comedy tells the tale of his enlightening journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise at the bequest of his late love,
Beatrice. This journey is meant to show Dante how he has strayed from a pious life and prompt him to change. While traveling through Hell in his
canticle Inferno, Dante encounters various mythological beasts. These beasts are placed within certain circles of Hell and reflect the sins being
punished there. One significant beast Dante encounters is Geryon who is described in lines 10–20 of the Inferno: The face was as the face of a just man,
Its semblance outwardly was so benign, And of a serpent all the trunk beside. Two paws it had, hairy unto the armpits; The back, and breast, and both
the sides it had Depicted o'er with nooses and with shields. With colors more, groundwork or broidery Never in cloth did Tartars make nor Turks, Nor
were such tissues by Arachne laid. As sometimes wherries lie upon the shore. (Dante XVII 10–20)
The exploration of the lines of poetry describing Geryon's appearance is facilitated by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's translation of The Divine
Comedy. As a character, Geryon is multilayered and brimming with underlying meaning. Geryon's character can best be explained by Dante's various
inspirations for the character, Geryon's relation to differing versions of Geryon in other works of literature and Greek mythology, and the parallelism
between Geryon's description and his location in Hell.

Personal Narrative: Being A Child Of Divorce
In the Spring of 2011, my parents got a divorce. I was thirteen years old and it was one of the most difficult things I have ever had to experience. I
can remember like it was yesterday when my mother sat me down and confessed the tragic news. Going through something that horrific, I would
never wish divorce on anyone. Being a child of divorce, I went though the divorce differently than my mother and father did. With both parents being
separated in different homes, I had to choose who I wanted to stay with on the nightly. It was a bad situation because both parents were going through
such a destructive time, yet both desired always to be with my sister and I. That was the most painful and challenging decision I would have to daily
make. I never... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having to go though so much pain and sorrow, has actually turned into joy and happiness. As a child I was always a "Mamma's Girl" and never really

I say that the divorce has been a blessing to me because I have never been more close with my father than I am now. Not living with him has shown
me just how much I always miss him and want to be with him. Going through so much sorrow together has just brought us even closer than ever
before. We have all grown emotionally and spiritually over the past six years. Growing closer to Jesus has been the greatest blessing of all. I
believe that God let's us go though times of pain because He knows that we can;t handle everything on our own so we turn to him for guidance.
Remarriage is another good thing that I believe in because I am recently experiencing it. My mother is getting remarried April 22, 2017, and I could
be couldn't be more happy for her. I now realize that God lets you go though bad times, but only to get to the good times. And that is where we are now.
Marriage is such and important and valuable thing and I can now be assured of that. Putting so much thought into marriage, shows me just how much
God has put into it and

Graveyard Book Themes
The Graveyard Book is a children's fantasy fiction novel by author Neil Gaiman, which was published in Britain and America during 2008. The
Graveyard Book explains the story of how a young boy, Nobody "Bod" Owens, is orphaned after a mysterious man named Jack brutally murders his
parent's and older sister; who is then adopted and raised by the Owenses', ghosts, and Bod is given free reign of the graveyard. As Bod ages, he faces
many struggles, from learning, facing other devilish creatures, such as the ghouls, and later facing the man that had assassinated his family for the sake
of an order of Jacks of All Trades. Throughout reading the book, we are numerous themes presented in Gaiman's book, ranging from relationships
between the living and dead, to psychopomps and other beings, and one of the most noticeable, good versus evil. In further examining the themes

This begins when the baby (later known as "Nobody "Bod" Owens") is taken in by the ghosts of a long–time deceased, married couple, that was asked

theme, as it appears again, with the mention of the Danse Macabre, the dance where the living and the dead dance together; the psychopomp (a
spiritual guide of a living person's soul), the Lady on the Grey [horse], which danced with Bod, answered Bod's question about riding her horse, by

Motivation: Kinicki And Fugate
Ulysses S. Grant stated during the Civil War, "In every battle there comes a time when both sides consider themselves beaten; then he who continues
the attack wins." (U. Grant, 1863) Within today's military there are times when troops feel as though their voices are not heard, their contributions are
not considered, and they do not fit into the current environment. This leads to a falter in motivation, and as the clichГ© goes, misery loves company.
The decline of motivation levels bleeds to fellow troops, and the group behavior begins to suffer. In preparation for this assignment, Kinicki and
Fugate do a phenomenal job discussing the topics of motivation and group behavior, and have led to my desire to apply it to my professional arena.
Kinicki and Fugate explain that four elements define groups; "(1) two or more freely interacting individuals who (2) share norms and (3) goals and

Organizational Management And Leadership, A Christian...
The research topic for this paper focuses on three subject areas from Chapter 4 of the text book, "Organizational Management and Leadership, A
Christian Perspective", that seemed most important (Satterlee, 2009). First, vision is an important leadership characteristic because it establishes
purpose and sets the path to the future for the entire organization. Second, servant leadership is an important model for leadership as it results in a
collaborative culture where all levels of employees are likely to work together to achieve goals. Finally, change leadership is important as change is
inevitable and the longevity of an organization can be determined by how effectively change is managed.
Key Words: vision, servant leadership, change leadership, Scripture Vision– Servant Leadership – Change Leadership Vision, servant leadership, and
change leadership are related, and together they yield practical positive results and are supported by biblical instruction. Vision is one characteristic of
a good leader – the ability to communicate the future goals of an organization in such a way as to motivate employees to work hard to support the
goals (Satterlee, 2009, 103). Connected to vision is the important model of servant leadership model that focuses on collaborative stewardship versus
individual ownership (Satterlee, 2009, p. 113). Finally, change leadership is important because organizational change is inevitable, and visionary

Understanding Prayer And The Non Believer
Application Paper
Carolyn Strickland
THEO 104 D43 LUO
August 17, 2015
I. Introduction
As each of us travel through life, decision making is a perpetual fact. Sometimes the choices are simple, straightforward and just happen without any
thought. Sometimes the choices are harder, more complex, and often do not have a clear option. It is during these difficult decisions that Christians
have an advantage over the non–believer. The non–believer often gets frustrated, overwhelmed and states that it is hopeless; therefore they give up
easily. As a believer in Christ, we know that our hope rests in the arms ofGod. Hope never ends and is always there when you need it. This leads to the
question of how to find hope and understand prayer. Our hope comes from developing a relationship with God through daily prayer. It is prayer that
strengthens our hope. Prayer is a direct line of communication with God. Without hope, there is no room for prayer. As we pray, our hope reflects
God's love in our life even in the difficult times.
Hope
II. Part One a. Theological Definition: Hope Hope is defined as "a reliance on God's blessing and provision; the expectation of future good."
(Youngblood, 1995) Hope is a confident expectancy. It is an indication of certainty and not being doubtful. It deals with things we cannot see or have
not received. Hope is for and about the future; it is what keeps us going. Faith is what creates our hope. Hebrews 11:1 defines hope the best:

So if I've done my math correctly Paul most definitely didn't use the KJV to deliver his very inspired messages sent from God. Most people using
the KJV now are using a "modern" version of the KJV, not the 1611 original King James. If it was the only inspired version why wouldn't you
continue to use it and not "modernize" it? If the King James Version was the only true version would someone who was saved from a message
delivered from an "uninspired" version have a faulty faith and salvation? Now I don't know what translation the evangelist was speaking from when I
got saved but I would hate to believe that if it was not the KJV that I haven't truly been saved all this time. You would assume that the translation from
the oldest manuscripts would be the most accurate but versions such as the ESV actually use older manuscript families than that of the KJV. I fear for
the intentions of the KJV–only advocates, for I feel that many but not all, focus more on the Bible translation and the persuading of others to use it than
they do on the main character and persuasion of others to follow

The Poor and Christianity
The poor will always be with us. The saying, 'the poor will always be with us' originated from the bible. According to the Christian bible (Matthew
26:11, Holman Christian standard bible)' you will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me'. The circumstances
surrounding this passage occurred just before Jesus' imminent crucifixion, Mary Magdalen anoints Jesus with a valuable oil/perfume. Prior to
this Jesus had always asked his devotees to sell their luxury items and give the money to the impoverished. When the disciples saw Mary
anointing Jesus with the oil/perfume, they said to Jesus "why was this oil not sold and the proceeds given to the poor"? Jesus replied "let her keep
this for the day of my burial .You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me". Gaining insight into this passage would initially
require that the word poor is not exclusively used to describe the materially impoverished and that being poor does not necessarily denote a lack of
possessions or money, it can also refer to being spiritually poor, whether that be in a religious sense or in fact personal spirituality, a lack of fulfilment,
contentment and worth in one's self . In this regard the saying could in fact be extended to describe the spiritually impoverished, as seen in the socially
excluded, which would be almost impossible to eliminate in today's capitalist societies. Furthermore in truth, selling the valuable oil/perfume

Due to amount of deaths Samaritan leaders went to Syria and complained.

Tradition has it that Pilate later commits suicide in disgrace
Pilate's life as a whole may be a mystery to many, but as seen today there are historical writings that help us understand who Pilate was. Also seen
today was the rocky relationship between the Jews and Pilate. This gives un an interesting insight into the crucifixion. We know Pilate tried to
please the Jews, and we know that the religious leaders were not fond of him. Next week we will take a look at the crucifixion, and the trial of Jesus.
As noted earlier Pilate played a role in this, but how does his role compare to Passover? Next week we will look into that, and I will show that Pilate's
role is an important one.

All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love
All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love through verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of
kindness; however, the condition of the human heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus, human beings are unable to understand
and comprehend love's truest form which is found in the embodiment God's being. God's love is communicated to mankind through the covenants, the
wonders of creation, the personhood of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit who subsequently seals God's offer of salvation through the
atoning death of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, those whom God allows Himself to be known can also know God's love through God's providential care
and sustainment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult to understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the
attribute of God's love.
Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God's love. Thus, God reveals His attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John
3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute of God's love through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute known through
the regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love itself is in triunity; hence, there must be the lover, the love, and the
loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53). In the Godhead, the attribute of God's love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John 14:31) in the triunity of the
Father who is the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the Father who so loved (John 3:16)
gave the Son his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is expressed to mankind not only in creation
but in redemption where the invisible is made visible (Conner, 1980).
Adding to the complexity of God's love is the fact that the attribute of God's love is not easily seen in the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly
reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the

Today society has many things mixed up and one of them is abortion. There should not be a battle in choosing wether to let a child live or not.
There are many options for the child and for their future. The jobs as followers of Christ is to spread the word and be a light to others. This includes
helping others make a life or death decision for a child. Doing this will help people realize that God created everything and everyone and it is not my

Part I
A worldview is often defined as a person's perception of life and perspective of the world. A worldview involves more than how a person interprets life,
but it also involves a person's philosophy of life, and a person's decision–making (Gutierrez & Weider, 2013). Gutierrez and Weider describe a
worldview as the lenses that one looks through to see the world, and that what a person sees is how they base their beliefs and choices (2013). A
worldview is also described as a reflection of a person's heart (Gutierrez & Weider, 2013). A world view does not always remain the same, as a person

Man was made in the image of God [Genesis 1:27] (Holy Bible, 2011). Then God puts the man into the garden to work it, and to be the authority
over all living things [Genesis 1:26; 2:15] (Holy Bible, 2011). God created man in His image and gave man the most important form of life. Of all the
living beings created, man is the only self–conscious being. Plant life have unconscious life, animals have conscious life, and human beings have
self–conscious life (Willmington, 1981). Per Everyday Bible Study, God's ultimate plan is to restore a proper relationship with Him (Gutierrez,
Hulshof, & Cartwright, 2016). John 17:3 gives the purpose of mankind, and that is, for man to know God (Holy Bible, 2011). Per Finding Your
Worldview: Thinking Christianly about the World, man is made to have a personal relationship with God the Father byJesus Christ, His Son (Gutierrez
& Weider, 2013). This is salvation. John 3:16 tells us that God loved man so much that He sacrificed His Only Son so that we may live forever
with Him (Holy Bible, 2011). When a person accepts this truth then they have salvation, they have accepted this wonderful gift from God. Per
Everyday with Jesus Daily Bible, God created us to know and enjoy Him (Hughes, Holman Bible Staff, 2013). 1 John 4:8 says that God is love and if
we know God then we love. This is important because we cannot truly love ourselves, love others, or love

Socioeconomic Class In Relation To Education
Socioeconomic Class in Relation to Education
A new study found that 38 of America's most elite colleges contain more students in the top 1% compared to the lower 60% of the income scale
(Aisch). The relationship between Socioeconomic Class and higher education choice has a correlation one might miss. To know the effect class has
on education and certain standings in society, one must know what this type of class is. Collegiate educational choices are influenced by
Socioeconomic Class and class factors. The classes in the U.S. vary from each home and family, but what class does the average American fall into?
First, a citizen must realize there are more than the 3 classes of poor, middle and wealthy that he frequently throws himself into. According... Show

In a perfect world, a student chooses his own path because of his opinion and past, not because of what the data says he is supposed to. "I'm not in
this world to live up to your expectations and you're not in this world to live up to mine" – Bruce Lee (Lee). This is a truth that can be translated into
every aspect of daily life. Does a student who is an African American from a household with an extremely low income have to drop out ofcollege or go
to an HBCU? Not by any means, although the facts feel like a jail cell, each person is different. Steve Jobs was put up for adoption and taken in by
a poor working class family. He went through high school and finally made it to college, only to drop out after the first semester because of cost. He
lived off of free meals after dropping out. Then, with his friend Steve Wozniak and each of their fascinations with technology, they sold their
belongings to start Apple. Apple is now a multi–million dollar company that was started from a garage (Koyle). Situation and data do not have to
direct one's path, but one's work ethic and personal goals can. The relationship between socioeconomic class is now much clearer because of an
intricate dissection and insightful comparison. Character and heart can overpower the influences of Socioeconomic Class and class factors. The class
that an American falls into is a generality not a laser focused science on a single individual. Look at the class and find a way out. As Philippians 4:13
states, "I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me" (Holy Bible Holman Christian Standard Bible, Phil. 4:13). No matter the
circumstance with God's strength and the work ethic all is

“For Each Of Us, Life Is A Journey. Heavenly Father Designed

  • 1. “For Each Of Us, Life Is A Journey. Heavenly Father Designed "For each of us, life is a journey. Heavenly Father designed it for us out of love. Each of us has unique experiences and characteristics, but our journey began in the same place before we were born into this world" (Henry B. Eyring, Brainy Quotes, Retrieved April 21, 2017). Each of us is placed on this earth for a purpose that is only known to God. However, while we seek that purpose and His will, He has given us the free will to behave and interact with our surroundings as we see fit. The discussion in this paper covers the spectrum of attributes and my current position among them. Using the McGraw–Hill Connect assessment, I was not overly surprised by the results. Within the scope of my career, more specifically the last five years, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately, I accept the moderate rating of personality. After fifteen and a half years, these core values are branded into the depths of my being. However, we are taught through the ten commandments, that there are many other values that are exponentially more important. This assessment proved as much as it showed power as my lowest score. I know God has ultimate power and while I have free will here on earth, He has control. The rest of the values measured in the medium and high levels of importance. The highest were in achievement and in benevolence, which I feel are spot on. My drive stems from my ability to achieve the goals I have set in personal, family, faith, and work environments. While at the same time, compassion in all areas of my life are integral. God showed His compassion and love when He sent His Son in John 3:16, "For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life" (Holman Bible Publishers (Nashville, Tenn.), 2004, John 3:16). • 2. Mark : The Gospel Of Mark Essay Mark: The Gospel of Mark tells the story of Jesus Christ's life from when he was baptized by John the Baptist until the days of his death, and his resurrection. Mark was the second of four Gospels although some Scholars argue and insist Mark was the first Gospel written 1. Mark was written by John Mark in AD 65, with a target audience of Roman Christian beleivers 2. Mark was written in a unique manner in regards to literary genre, as it contains figures of speech, and portray life situations in a passionate story like setting that can make the reader feel as if he is there 3. The Gospel of Mark is the shortest of the four Gospels, however it is written in a manner that emphasizes more so on Jesus's works than Jesus's words 4. The key theme in Mark is to portray the life of Jesus Christ as the son of God 5, and the purpose was to show the human qualities and emotions that Jesus displayed from anger (Mark 3:5), and compassion (Mark 1:41). Some of the key events of Jesus Christ's life in the Gospel Mark include his miracles, his entrance into Jerusalem, the last supper, his arrest and trial, his crucifixion, his resurrection, and his ascension 6. The Gospel of Mark ends with his instruction to the eleven Apostles "And he said unto them "Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to the whole creation" (Mark 16:16), and his ascension into Heaven (Mark 16:19). • 3. Should Prayer Be Taken Out Of Schools So many times after the pledge of allegiance, the moment of silence is taken into account, to pray for many things that happen in the world. Now, there is an argument and controversy in that; prayer or acts of religion should be taken out of school. School prayer should not be taken out of schools because it brings unity between people, a form of expression, and builds morality. In Matthew 19:14, Jesus says, "Leave the children alone, and don't try to keep them from coming to Me, because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this" (Holman Christian Standard Bible). Being with other believers, in the faith, for unity to grow stronger and be accountable. Even if it may be different denominations, they are still a part of a family ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through life, doors will be open and closed, but it is a choice one has to make. "We often forget that an important part of religious freedom is the acceptance" (Defend Your Rights). Morality is a big part of everyday life, in the same way, just as prayer in school is important to some people, it all goes hand in hand with morality coinciding with prayer. Morality are the principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior. Morality put into the school can do nothing due to the wicked way of the world, yet if prayer is continued; then that prayer helps make decisions to help make the world a little better. "We see only the results which a man's choices make out of his raw material. ButGod does not judge him on the raw material at all, but on what he has done with it" (Lewis 71). In Lewis' book Mere Christianity, he talks about how morality turns into a psychoanalysis that ultimately reflects on how the flesh, or body, acts with the world. With prayer in school, morality becomes very important to Mathias 4 how people live their lives in the way God wants them to. For Christians, prayer is a tool that is used for guidance, spiritually and personally through all the challenges that Satan brings. In the school system, prayer lays a foundation that is upheld with the values taught there. Understanding that school and spiritual life is on two different spectrums, ... • 4. Abortion Is Morally Wrong? Introduction We can all agree that abortion is a controversial issue debated in our society today, especially in Texas, which is one of the most conservative's states in the nation. Some people argue that abortion is morally wrong, because it has to do with ending a life which, according proponents begins at conception, not at birth. Others contest that it is a woman 's constitutional right to make reproductive decisions, particularly in situations of rape, incest, and health risks. In this paper I will survey the viewpoints regarding abortion presented by conservatives, Christian scholars, and advocates of women 's reproductive rights. How does Conservatives View Abortion? As we have been discussing in our government class, we have learned thatTexas is made up of Republicans, making it a conservative state. Conservative meaning, they want to preserve their old ways of taking decisions, they stand on tradition, and they have the tendency to conserve and preserve old way. According to Governing Texas and Introduction to Texas Politics it states that "Texas today is a political community that is dominated by the Republican Party" (Champage; Harpham; Governing Texas pg.4). It also goes on to say what kind issues are Republicans most conservative with. The government book goes on to articulate that, "In recent years, the Texas Republican Party has advocated increasingly conservative political positions on a variety of social and economic issues, including abortion, birth ... Worship and Music Passionately Pursing our God in Music and Worship Music is of God's creation and an integral part of our lives, yet much of the current experience is one of the most emotionally charged and divisive issues facing the Christian Church, families, and individuals in America today. Pastors, worship leaders, trained musicians, and believers in general face new and powerful forces of change – forces that bring renewal to some churches and fear and schism to others. No one can sidestep the hot debate between such matters as the various styles of music, hymns versus choruses, seeker services versus worship services, choirs versus worship teams, organs versus synthesizers, and flowing praise versus singing one song at a time. With billions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hopefully, the church will exercise diligent study of the more than six hundred passages in the Scriptures that will gradually define this issue of musical belief and practice in more biblical terms based on solid exegesis of God's Word. The purpose of worship is to attribute worth to God (Psalm 27:6), to praise God (Psalm 150:3–4), to lift the emotions of the heart (Ephesians 5:18–19), to learn Scripture and spiritual truths by singing (Psalm 32:7–8), to introduce others to Jesus Christ (Psalm 40:3), to instruct and convict through the proclamation and singing of scriptural texts (Isaiah 55:11; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Ephesians 5:15–21), and to encourage obedience (James 1:25). God is the primary focus of our worship endeavors, but we must also consider the effect of our worship upon one another. John Frame addresses this issue, stating, "The focus of our effort in worship should be on pleasing [God]. From this principle, some might conclude that we should not pay any attention to human needs in worship. Talk like that can sound very pious, but it is unbiblical. In worship, we should not be so preoccupied with God that we ignore one another. For example, worshipers should not ignore the needs of the poor (Isaiah 1:10–17). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. My Personal Experience Of God В¶ 324.9a – Describe your personal experience of God and the understanding of God you derive from biblical, theological, and historical sources. My personal experience of God is based on my life experiences and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I have experienced God's presence in my life and I have felt the Holy Spirit guiding me. I first felt God's call as a teenager and prayed that one day I would become a pastor. But my new Christian faith was not strong enough and I soon succumbed to the desires of this world. I refused to recognize God's call and it took decades for God's prevenient grace to bring me back into fellowship with God's Son. More than a decade ago I felt God's call again but this time in a completely different way. This time my faith was strong and I had that personal relationship with God's Son. During my Emmaus Pilgrim Walk in 2007 my teenage prayers came back to me. Calmness overcame me like none I had ever experienced and for the first time in my life I knew that God had set me aside for this purpose. I felt God's call in a way I had never felt before and I knew that the Spirit had been preparing me all these years to become a pastor. I realize now that God saw me as I could be, not what I was at that time! Walkine Vanderbilt Divinity School New Testament (DIV–6600) Amy–Jill Levine, Ph.D. April 16, 2018 ?Money: The Root of All Evil– Or Is It?? There is much that has been extrapolated from the so–called Parable of the Dishonest Manager, found in Luke chapter 16:1–15. Most scholars agree that this parable is indeed the most difficult of Jesus?s parables to interpret. Understandably so, there have been many interpretations of the pericope over these many years. Alyce M. McKenzie in her book The Parables for Today, cites the following: This parable is one of the strangest of the strange. When the parable of the Dishonest Manager is compared to the parable of the Lost Son (Luke 15:11–32), a wealthy father may entrust his son with a small amount of responsibility before he comes of age. The son?s faithfulness in a little shows that he will also be faithful over everything that will ultimately be entrusted to him later (verse 10). [14: James R. • 11. Christian Views on Poverty and Wealth Christian Views on Poverty and Wealth Distinctions made between the wealthy and the poor are known to measure not only standards of living, but the standard of human character. In the Christian perspective, how one acts upon their wealth or poverty is often a measure of godliness. In present day, the gap between the rich and the poor continues to grow. Even within the wealthiest nations, disparities between the wealthy and the poor are increasing as fewer people are experiencing monetary success while the poor are becoming poorer (Ondari, 2001). Therein lies the paradox for Christians, as the growing discrepancy between the rich and the poor occurs in a world that God has blessed with profusion, and has created a world for every person to live a respectable and comfortable life. Understanding the Christian views on poverty and wealth first requires defining the two entities as they pertain to human existence. The central definition of poverty is the experience of material deprivation, and also consists of isolation, dependence, and lack of freedom as personal choice (Ondari, 2001). Concepts of wealth extend beyond material possessions, and incorporate access to food, opportunity, security, physical and emotional health (Clapsis, 2002). Christian studies on human nature recognize the human body as a spiritual entity, and human character is reflected in the context of such social symbols as wealth and poverty. Topic: The problem I aim to address is that of the lifelong scars that affect a victim of childsexual abuse; and how it hinders one from seeking God for healing and understanding according to Scripture. Rhetorical Purpose: To inform my audience about the intense emotional secrecy resulting from childhood sexual abuse, and to persuade them that as teachers of God's word they should be prepared to expect the unexpected while providing non–judgmental support and guidance to the victims working through issues of trust, intimacy and identity while seeking a personal relationship with Christ. Redemptive Purpose:For a number of reasons, most sexually abused children never share "the secret" of their abuse that is most often committed by someone the child knows. Therefore, crippling their lives is the loss of self–worth, overwhelmed with shame, and fearful of developing relationships that prevents them from experiencing life as God intended throughout Scripture. The solution I propose is to understand how God sees the problem while providing a safe atmosphere while share Christ–like love and compassion enabling the victims to break the power of the secret and live for Christ. ... Some scholars might prefer James the son of Zebedee but his early martyrdom likely negates this possibility because in Acts 12:2 his death is indicated to have occurred around A.D. 44.6 Literary Context The book of James is not very tidy when it comes to fitting into any of the other genres of literature. Some consider it to more of a circular rather than an epistle and it is quite possible that both Paul and Peter had read the Epistle of James, at least there are several coincidences between them.7 Because it was written to such a broad audience and because it contains many references to the Old Testament, James hardly fits into any category very neatly. Therefore, it may be best to see James as a literary circular since it does not address any particular needs at a given moment. James was apparently teaching the victims of the Diaspora. The structure of the Book of James begins as a letter and later vacillates between topics, at times appearing to be more of a sermon addressed to those in the congregation of Jewish Christians. Considered by some to be wisdom literature, James introduces and argues for several topics and themes. In James 2:16–26, the themes of faith, good works, and proper treatment of the poor. • 15. Reflecting On Judaism As A Christian Reflecting on Judaism as a Christian As I have learned about my Christian faith, I have always wondered why Christianity does not fall more in line with the Judaism, their traditions, and their celebration of their festivals. The Bible calls the Israelites God's chosen people, and throughout the Old Testament He shows His love for them by the way He led them by a pillar of smoke by day and by a pillar of fire at night. Comparing the old covenant to the new covenant, the Bible says "not like the covenant that I made with their ancestors on the day I took them by their hands to lead them out of the land of Egypt. I disregarded them, says the Lord, because they did not continue in My covenant" (Hebrews 8:9, Holman Christian Standard Bible), then states in Hebrews 8:10 "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people". These verses answered some of the questions on why Christianity didn't follow the same traditions as in Judaism religion. While comparing the Old Testament to the New testament it becomes clear why Christians are different. One of the major problems is that we assume to understand Judaism, is we believe and read the Old Testament, in our journey to become stronger in our own relationship with Jesus Christ. Another misunderstanding is that as a Christian, we think that they need to have a savior. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet, when does this insincerity develop into a serious problem; especially when one looks at the religious issues and conflicts which derive from these predicaments? In Genesis 34 there is the story of Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, who was defiled by an infatuated prince named Shechem. He raped Dinah and then asked for her brothers to give her to him as a wife. Instead of accepting what had happened, Dinah's brothers responded by slaughtering every male in the Shechem's city, plundering their household, and capturing the women and children (Holman Christian Standard Bible, Gen. 34.1–29). This outraged response ought to spark the realization that defiling a person against their will should not be practiced among believers. Sadly, in January 2010, one pastor at a Newcastle church openly admitted to raping six young boys between the ages of nine and twelve when he held "counseling sessions" for the children (Peters 1). These heinous crimes were repeated copiously and his abuse of power clearly destroyed young lives that could possibly be forever traumatized. Obviously when a preacher affiliates himself with corrupt offenses it earns a front–cover page, but some of these sinful deeds are still kept under wrap. This suggests duplicity could very well be found on all levels: from ordinary church–goers to prominent leaders in the church. This pervasive insincerity among individuals and the toleration coupled with it consequently leads to hypocrisy in the church as a whole. Even early church writers contested the validity of what Luther referred to as an "epistle of straw", even denigrating it as a leftover from Judaic writers. Even recent commentary writer Sophie Laws referred to "the epistle of James is an oddity. It lacks almost all of what might be thought to be the distinctive marks of Christian faith and practice." The Luther casts further doubt on the authenticity of this epistle. The target audience for the book of James is the early practitioners of Christianity or the early church, in particular, those persecuted for their faith and scattered in the Diaspora are of particular importance in James. Non–believers are not addressed in this passage. James forcefully corrects what he perceives to be a misunderstanding concerning the cooperative relationship between faith and works. The Gospels and other epistles are directed at informing those who have not yet heard the message of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast (Eph. 2:8–9)." (Eph 4:28) Exodus 20:1–17 includes one of the first statements many of us ever hear and recall from our bible scriptures, "Thou shalt not steal." By Greek translation, "character" means to engrave, scribe or etch. Our character is a reflection of our values, which we engrave on the world and the people around us as we act and interact according to them. From a societal perspective, plagiarism is seen as an anticipated but unfortunate matter of fact, somewhat like a social faux pas (Martin, 1994). • 32. Comparison Of Geryon In Dante's 'The Divine Comedy' Dante's poem The Divine Comedy tells the tale of his enlightening journey through Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise at the bequest of his late love, Beatrice. This journey is meant to show Dante how he has strayed from a pious life and prompt him to change. While traveling through Hell in his canticle Inferno, Dante encounters various mythological beasts. These beasts are placed within certain circles of Hell and reflect the sins being punished there. One significant beast Dante encounters is Geryon who is described in lines 10–20 of the Inferno: The face was as the face of a just man, Its semblance outwardly was so benign, And of a serpent all the trunk beside. Two paws it had, hairy unto the armpits; The back, and breast, and both the sides it had Depicted o'er with nooses and with shields. With colors more, groundwork or broidery Never in cloth did Tartars make nor Turks, Nor were such tissues by Arachne laid. As sometimes wherries lie upon the shore. (Dante XVII 10–20) The exploration of the lines of poetry describing Geryon's appearance is facilitated by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's translation of The Divine Comedy. As a character, Geryon is multilayered and brimming with underlying meaning. Geryon's character can best be explained by Dante's various inspirations for the character, Geryon's relation to differing versions of Geryon in other works of literature and Greek mythology, and the parallelism between Geryon's description and his location in Hell. I was thirteen years old and it was one of the most difficult things I have ever had to experience. I can remember like it was yesterday when my mother sat me down and confessed the tragic news. Going through something that horrific, I would never wish divorce on anyone. Being a child of divorce, I went though the divorce differently than my mother and father did. With both parents being separated in different homes, I had to choose who I wanted to stay with on the nightly. It was a bad situation because both parents were going through such a destructive time, yet both desired always to be with my sister and I. That was the most painful and challenging decision I would have to daily make. I never... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not living with him has shown me just how much I always miss him and want to be with him. Going through so much sorrow together has just brought us even closer than ever before. We have all grown emotionally and spiritually over the past six years. Growing closer to Jesus has been the greatest blessing of all. I believe that God let's us go though times of pain because He knows that we can;t handle everything on our own so we turn to him for guidance. Remarriage is another good thing that I believe in because I am recently experiencing it. My mother is getting remarried April 22, 2017, and I could be couldn't be more happy for her. • 34. Graveyard Book Themes The Graveyard Book is a children's fantasy fiction novel by author Neil Gaiman, which was published in Britain and America during 2008. The Graveyard Book explains the story of how a young boy, Nobody "Bod" Owens, is orphaned after a mysterious man named Jack brutally murders his parent's and older sister; who is then adopted and raised by the Owenses', ghosts, and Bod is given free reign of the graveyard. As Bod ages, he faces many struggles, from learning, facing other devilish creatures, such as the ghouls, and later facing the man that had assassinated his family for the sake of an order of Jacks of All Trades. Throughout reading the book, we are numerous themes presented in Gaiman's book, ranging from relationships between the living and dead, to psychopomps and other beings, and one of the most noticeable, good versus evil. This is a reoccurring theme, as it appears again, with the mention of the Danse Macabre, the dance where the living and the dead dance together; the psychopomp (a spiritual guide of a living person's soul), the Lady on the Grey [horse], which danced with Bod, answered Bod's question about riding her horse, by saying, "One Day. Everybody does;" this statement gives you the idea that she is the Angel of Death. The main concept for the Lady on the Grey being the Angel of Death, is based on a verse in the Holy Bible about Death riding on a pale horse; Revelations 6:08, which states, "And I looked, and there was a pale green horse. Grant stated during the Civil War, "In every battle there comes a time when both sides consider themselves beaten; then he who continues the attack wins." (U. Grant, 1863) Within today's military there are times when troops feel as though their voices are not heard, their contributions are not considered, and they do not fit into the current environment. This leads to a falter in motivation, and as the clichГ© goes, misery loves company. The decline of motivation levels bleeds to fellow troops, and the group behavior begins to suffer. In preparation for this assignment, Kinicki and Fugate do a phenomenal job discussing the topics of motivation and group behavior, and have led to my desire to apply it to my professional arena. • 36. Organizational Management And Leadership, A Christian... The research topic for this paper focuses on three subject areas from Chapter 4 of the text book, "Organizational Management and Leadership, A Christian Perspective", that seemed most important (Satterlee, 2009). First, vision is an important leadership characteristic because it establishes purpose and sets the path to the future for the entire organization. Second, servant leadership is an important model for leadership as it results in a collaborative culture where all levels of employees are likely to work together to achieve goals. Finally, change leadership is important as change is inevitable and the longevity of an organization can be determined by how effectively change is managed. Key Words: vision, servant leadership, change leadership, Scripture Vision– Servant Leadership – Change Leadership Vision, servant leadership, and change leadership are related, and together they yield practical positive results and are supported by biblical instruction. • 37. Understanding Prayer And The Non Believer Application Paper Carolyn Strickland THEO 104 D43 LUO August 17, 2015 I. Introduction As each of us travel through life, decision making is a perpetual fact. Sometimes the choices are simple, straightforward and just happen without any thought. Sometimes the choices are harder, more complex, and often do not have a clear option. It is during these difficult decisions that Christians have an advantage over the non–believer. The non–believer often gets frustrated, overwhelmed and states that it is hopeless; therefore they give up easily. As a believer in Christ, we know that our hope rests in the arms ofGod. Hope never ends and is always there when you need it. This leads to the question of how to find hope and understand prayer. Our hope comes from developing a relationship with God through daily prayer. It is prayer that strengthens our hope. Prayer is a direct line of communication with God. Without hope, there is no room for prayer. As we pray, our hope reflects God's love in our life even in the difficult times. Hope II. Part One a. Theological Definition: Hope Hope is defined as "a reliance on God's blessing and provision; the expectation of future good." (Youngblood, 1995) Hope is a confident expectancy. It is an indication of certainty and not being doubtful. It deals with things we cannot see or have not received. Hope is for and about the future; it is what keeps us going. Faith is what creates our hope. Hebrews 11:1 defines hope the best: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If it was the only inspired version why wouldn't you continue to use it and not "modernize" it? If the King James Version was the only true version would someone who was saved from a message delivered from an "uninspired" version have a faulty faith and salvation? Now I don't know what translation the evangelist was speaking from when I got saved but I would hate to believe that if it was not the KJV that I haven't truly been saved all this time. You would assume that the translation from the oldest manuscripts would be the most accurate but versions such as the ESV actually use older manuscript families than that of the KJV. • 40. The Poor and Christianity The poor will always be with us. The saying, 'the poor will always be with us' originated from the bible. According to the Christian bible (Matthew 26:11, Holman Christian standard bible)' you will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me'. The circumstances surrounding this passage occurred just before Jesus' imminent crucifixion, Mary Magdalen anoints Jesus with a valuable oil/perfume. Prior to this Jesus had always asked his devotees to sell their luxury items and give the money to the impoverished. When the disciples saw Mary anointing Jesus with the oil/perfume, they said to Jesus "why was this oil not sold and the proceeds given to the poor"? Jesus replied "let her keep this for the day of my burial .You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me". Gaining insight into this passage would initially require that the word poor is not exclusively used to describe the materially impoverished and that being poor does not necessarily denote a lack of possessions or money, it can also refer to being spiritually poor, whether that be in a religious sense or in fact personal spirituality, a lack of fulfilment, contentment and worth in one's self . In this regard the saying could in fact be extended to describe the spiritually impoverished, as seen in the socially excluded, which would be almost impossible to eliminate in today's capitalist societies. Furthermore in truth, selling the valuable oil/perfume ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All Human Beings Possess A Basic Understanding Of Love All human beings possess a basic understanding of love and are able to express love through verbalizations, emotions, gestures, or other acts of kindness; however, the condition of the human heart is tainted by sin and so is love in terms of humanity. Thus, human beings are unable to understand and comprehend love's truest form which is found in the embodiment God's being. God's love is communicated to mankind through the covenants, the wonders of creation, the personhood of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit who subsequently seals God's offer of salvation through the atoning death of Jesus Christ. Hence, with all the confusion and mystery that surrounds the Trinity, it becomes difficult to understand how each member of the Trinity shares in the attribute of God's love. Without the Trinity, human beings cannot appreciate the attribute of God's love. Thus, God reveals His attribute of love through Jesus Christ (John 3:16) while Jesus displays the attribute of God's love through the crucifixion (John 15:13), and the Holy Spirit makes the attribute known through the regeneration (Titus 3:5) of the believer (Dockery, 1992). Furthermore, love itself is in triunity; hence, there must be the lover, the love, and the loved (Conner, 1980, p. 53). In the Godhead, the attribute of God's love finds a perfect expression (Matthew 3:16; John 14:31) in the triunity of the Father who is the lover, the Son who is the loved, and the Holy Spirit who is love (Conner, 1980, p. 53). Thus, the Father who so loved (John 3:16) gave the Son his love (Colossians 1:13) and the love of the Spirit (Romans 15:30; Galatians 5:22) which is expressed to mankind not only in creation but in redemption where the invisible is made visible (Conner, 1980). Adding to the complexity of God's love is the fact that the attribute of God's love is not easily seen in the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit never truly reveals Himself to human consciousness; hence, the ...
