1) The document discusses Psalm 103, which is a psalm of gratitude to God for what he has done in the past and to motivate moving forward with hope.
2) It encourages looking back at the past year or lifetime, looking around at others' lives, looking within at oneself, and looking forward to 2019 and the future to cultivate gratitude toward God.
3) Specific reasons are given for why one should be grateful to God, such as providing for needs rather than wants, protecting from harm, and showing mercy and grace during times of trouble.
2. Three Divisions
V1-5 – David’s Personal Experiences
V6-19 – God’s Dealing to People in General
V20-22 – A Call to Worship to the natures
Psalm 103 is a Psalm of Gratitude to God for
what He has done in the past and motivating
us to move forward with hope.
3. As we are in the End of 2018 – It is time to …
1. Look Back (The whole year or Lifetime)
2. Look Around (The life of others)
3. Look Within (Who are you?)
4. Look Forward (2019 and Future)
Each of the above step will lead us to be
grateful towards the Lord.
4. Psalm 103:1-4 – Count the Blessing of the Lord
Is there a reason to thank God?
Are you able to point out One?
If you have no reason or if you say I don’t
have any reason to thank God let me point
out at least ONE in the past year.
5. (In case if you are paying for the Oxygen you
breathed in 2018? Ps.150:6)
Human being breathe 28,800 times/day in
average
It takes about 11,000 liters of Oxygen /day
The body requires minimum of 55 liters of
Oxygen everyday (which is used as fuel to
the body)
A 2.5 liters Oxygen cylinder costs of Rs 6,500
If you pay for all the Oxygen you inhaled, per
day Rs. 13 Lakhs / Per year 4.87 Crores
6. The above is Just a general reason – Be Specify
your own reasons in the past…
God Provided all you NEED – Not WANT
God Protected from all harms (Ps 103:3-4)
(Sickness/death/trials/..etc)
God had MERCY and GRACE on you every time
you were in trouble.
Look at the Past – Don’t live in it
7. Now?
Do you have a reason to praise God?
Do you look at the past or live in it?
What is the highlight you feel in 2018 excites
you to move forward?
What is the discouragement in 2018 you
wanted to put aside?
8. Looking at the world/people around you
Vv6-10 God is described as Righteous, Justice,
Compassionate, Gracious, Love & Kind
Looking around gives two outcomes
1. Envy/Jelous – Negative impression on Us of
what we do not have.
2. Gratitude/Praise – Positive impression on
what we have.
9. • A person with old shoes murmurs to God for
not getting new, but thanks God for someone
who do not have legs – Everyone has a reason
to Praise God when you look around.
• Watch the Video “BE GRATEFUL” – We are
NOT in the down of the ladder (in the
picture/video) – No need to be in the top.
There is someone over me – I am thankful
that there are still someone below me!!!
10. Think about people who were affected with
various natural/personal disorders around
you. There are people who faced…
1. Floods (in Kerala) – People lost everything
2. Cyclones (Costal Tamilnadu) – ”
3. Tsunami (Indonesia) - ”
4. Earthquake (Japan) -
You are Still alive – Praise God for that!
11. Ps 103:14-15 – He Knows our form – Dust??
No one else can look into our hearts!
God knows other than you. If we can
understand the thoughts of others – that
would make us sick (Vivek in a Movie)
Genesis 6:5 The thoughts of human are always
evil and sinful before God.
12. May be if you know someone hates you by
heart and smiles you in the face – If you
know their thoughts will you love them?
The obvious answer is NO…
But God knowing our hearts and thoughts yet
He loves us – so when I Look within (my
heart) that leads me to Love God more…
13. Our Past and Present experiences gives us
future hope! (vv 17-19)
v.17 – God is Faithful and Love (Eternally)
v.18 – His covenant remains Same
v.19 – He is Sovereign King over all
145:13 - His Promises remains the Same
14. God was good in the past and He remains the
same eternally – that gives us Trust to move
forward.
Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have
for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to
give you hope and a future.”
Let us move forward 2019 by Trusting in God
