The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowedbe thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; andforgive us our trespasses, as we forgivethem that trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
  8. 8. Bearing the hurt of other people without retaliation is, without adoubt, the MOST IMPORTANT AND THE MOST DIFFICULT STEP IN BECOMING LIKE JESUS CHRIST because it often involves being misunderstood.
  9. 9. TRESPASSED―missed the mark‖ of your boundaries
  10. 10. Jesus was… misunderstood hurt misjudged abused
  11. 11. On the cross, he not only carried our sins but also ENDUREDENORMOUS ABUSE FROM THE PEOPLE WHO WERE RIGHT THERE…MOST OF WHOM HE HEALED AND FED.
  12. 12. Matthew 27:39- 44 His response:―Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing.‖
  13. 13. 1 Peter 2:23They called Him every name in the book and He SAID NOTHING BACK.
  14. 14.  He shut up He suffered silencewith His intent to let Godset things right He yielded His right toget even
  15. 15. But HE had opportunity to tell them who He is and defend Himself a bit.
  16. 16.  He absorbed the hurt He put up with the pain He responded to evilwith good
  17. 17. TRUTH:In life, you are going to be hurt—whether INTENTIONALLY or intentionally unintentionally! UNINTENTIONALLY!
  18. 18. YOU CAN ONLY LEARN TO FORGIVE WHEN SOMEBODY HAS HURT YOU.
  19. 19. Tips: 1) Remember that God hasFORGIVEN me. (Ephesians 4:32) forgivenGod will never ask you to forgive anybody more than you have already been forgiven by Him.
  20. 20. Tips: 2) God is in control. …. CONTROL.He will use it for the good of your life.
  21. 21. Joseph the Dreamer siblings disliked him sold him into slavery falsely accused of rape thrown into prison 40 years of his life went down,down, down.
  22. 22. YET, HE MAINTAINED A FORGIVING SPIRIT.

  25. 25. GETHSEMANE – experience of trouble (trust) DESERT– experience of temptation (obey) CROSS– experience of trespass (forgive)
  26. 26. Romans 8:17Now if we are children, then weare heirs—heirs of God and co- heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
  27. 27. Philippians 2:5 In your relationships with oneanother, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.
  28. 28. Conclusion This is spiritual maturity. Yourgreatest testimony as a believeris how you handle hurt. Do yourespond like Jesus did? Do you suffer in order to save others?
  29. 29. Reflection 1) Have you talked and released forgiveness to those who have hurt you?2) Have you apologized to the person whom you have hurt?
  30. 30. Action Are you hurting now?Are you planning to retaliate? Have a spiritual partner pray with you about this.
