FOUR MYTHS ABOUT HEARING GOD’S VOICE IN MODERN
UNDERSTANDING

5. 1. GOD'S WORD IS NOT ALWAYS WHAT
MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE SPEAK…
• Majority is not a criteria for confirming something as
God’s Word – 400 Prophets (v.5) called by King Ahab
• Majority in most occasions represent wrong side (1
King 18) – 450 Prophets of Baal and Elijah
• David Lynn – Cross Canada Tour – In all areas of
Street Evangelism people oppose him for preaching.

6. 2. GOD'S WORD IS NOT SOMETHING
THAT BRINGS GOOD NEWS ALWAYS...
• 2 Chronicles 18:5 - So the king of Israel brought together
the prophets—four hundred men—and asked them,
“Shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I
not?” “Go,” they answered, “for God will give it into the
king’s hand.”
• The man of God who knows his word understands what
is God's word and what is NOT... (v.6-7) “Is there no
longer a prophet of the LORD here whom we can inquire
of?”
• Warning and Judgment are part of God’s Word – Jonah!

7. 3. GOD'S WORD IS NOT ALWAYS GIVEN
BY SOME WELL KNOWN, FAMOUS
PROPHETS…
• All 400 of them had full dignity to become prophets
in the eyes of the King
• V.10 – “Now Zedekiah son of Kenaanah had made
iron horns, and he declared, “This is what the LORD
says: ‘With these you will gore the Arameans until
they are destroyed”
• Searching celebrities for hearing the words of God is
NOT Biblical.

8. 4. GOD'S WORD DOES NOT ALWAYS
COME THROUGH SOMEONE WHO IS
POWERFUL IN GESTURES AND VOICE…
• V.10 – “Now Zedekiah son of Kenaanah had made iron horns, and he
declared, “This is what the LORD says: ‘With these you will gore the
Arameans until they are destroyed”
• Prophets or preachers who speak slow or inactive
gesture often people think that they don't speak the
word of the Lord – Because the Word of the Lord is
Powerful!! – WRONG
• St. Francis of Assisi (12th Cent) – Jonathan Edwards

9. LET’S GIVE IMPORTANCE TO THE VOICE OF
GOD – THROUGH THE WORD OF GOD
• Vv 12-13 – God’s people who hear His words will not
be compromised by anything except God.
• Lets Build our Foundation on His Words – Wise and
Foolish Builders (Mat 7:24-27)
• Don't always be cheated by the Majority, Prosperity,
Celebrity and Gesture to judge the Word of God.
• ONE WORD FROM GOD CHANGES EVERYTHING
