3. INTRODUCTION
There is an increasing demand for smart homes, where
appliances react automatically to changing environmental
conditions and can be easily controlled through one
common device.Home automation is the use of one or
more computers to control basic home functions and
features automatically and sometimes remotely .
Automation system serves as an aid to efficient usage of
electricity .Modern home automation systems are mostly
AI based .
5. Home automation involves introducing a degree of
computerized or automatic control to certain electrical
and electronics system in a building.
It provides access via bluetooth , wi-fi ,z-wave and
internetnet

7. Micro-controllers
A microcontroller is a computer present in a single
integrated circuit which is dedicated to perform one task
and execute one specific application.
It contains memory, programmable input/output
peripherals as well a processor. Microcontrollers are
mostly designed for embedded applications and are
heavily used in automatically controlled electronic devices
such as cell phones , cameras, microwave ovens, washing
machines, etc.
10. Bluetooth Module:
BLE112 is a Bluetooth Smart
module targeted for low-power
sensors and accessories.
It integrates all features
required for a Bluetooth Smart
application.
It is powered directly from a
standard 3V coin cell battery
or a pair of AAA batteries.
In the lowest power sleep
mode it merely consumes 500
nA and will wake up within a
few hundred microseconds.
12. Wi-Fi Module
The ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module is a self contained SOC
with integrated TCP/IP protocol stack that can give
any microcontroller access to your Wi-Fi network. The
ESP8266 is capable of either hosting an application or
offloading all Wi-Fi networking functions from
another application processor. Each ESP8266 module
comes pre-programmed with an AT command set
firmware, meaning, you can simply hook this up to
your Arduino device and get about as much Wi-Fi-
ability as a W-iFi Shield offers . The ESP8266 module
is an extremely cost effective board with a huge, and
ever growing, community.

to perform tasks normally requiring human
intelligence, such as visual perception, speech
recognition, decision-making, and translation
between languages.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
17. Home automation gives you access to control devices
in your home from a mobile device anywhere in the
world. The term may be used for isolated
programmable devices, like thermostats and sprinkler
systems, but home automation more accurately
describes homes in which nearly everything -- lights,
appliances, electrical outlets, heating and cooling
systems -- are hooked up to a remotely controllable
network. From a home security perspective, this also
includes your alarm system, and all of the doors,
windows, locks, smoke detectors, surveillance cameras
and any other sensors that are linked to it.
18. Automation refers to the ability to program and
schedule events for the devices on the network. The
programming may include time-related commands,
such as having your lights turn on or off at specific
times each day. It can also include non-scheduled
events, such as turning on all the lights in your home
when your security system alarm is triggered.
20. Benefits to Home Automation
1. Security
Tap your finger to turn on the lights when you get home so
you worried about what’s hiding in the shadows, or in your
pathways. Or automate to turn on when you aren’t home to
look like you are to ward off potential robbers. Door locks
are another automated home product that can increase
your homes.
2. Energy Efficiency
Increase your home’s energy efficiency by remotely
powering off systems and appliances when they aren’t in
use. In addition to the standard home automation products
that give you active control, some products actively
monitor systems and arm the homeowner with knowledge,
insight and guidance to achieve greater control and energy
efficiency.
21. 4. Convenience
Don’t you hate having to rely on neighbors to watch your
house when you’re gone? With home automation,
convenient control of your home is at your fingertips. You
don’t have to trust someone else with your most valued
possessions.
3. Savings
Home automation literally pays off. When you are able to
use home systems and appliances only when needed, the
savings will be apparent in the first utility bill. No more
wasting money on lights left on when you aren’t home, or
spending money on gas to drive home because you forgot
to lock the door. Monetary savings are apparent, but you’ll
also be saving time. No wasted trips home, no running
through the house turning everything off, no time spent
worrying about what was or wasn’t turned off
22. 5. Peace of Mind
One of the biggest hidden benefits that comes with
home automation is peace of mind. No more worrying
if you turned of the lights, locked the door or turned
off the television. For people who have a lot on their
plates, being able to easily check these items off the to-
do list and stop the obsessive worrying, home
automation is reassuring and definitely worth the
investment.
23. Home Automation is still an expensive product, by
Indian consumer standards, and there’s a lot of scope
of the prices to be whittled down by an order of
magnitude at least in the next few years. This will
happen as more Indian companies manufacture the
key components of Automation systems (controllers,
Gateways etc) and economies of scale takes over.
DEMERITS
24. There aren’t any flawless retrofit solutions available
yet: If you’re building a new home, then wired
solutions work great but for customers with existing
homes there hasn’t yet come a solution to have them
on-board the ‘Smart Home’ revolution
For now, Smart home solutions work well in silos but
can be made a lot more holistic to include all the
gadgets in your home. This should be possible in the
next 3–5 years as more appliances become ‘smart’ and
new strides are made in the IoT space

27. FUTURE
Even though home automation isn’t a new industry, it
still isn’t a standard for most homeowners. Because
this is an industry that has experienced slow growth
for a few decades now, it’s hard to predict where
exactly home automation is headed in the next several
years. Still, considering that personal electronic
devices like smartphones and tablets are in our hands
or pockets all day long, it seems only natural that
home automation—which can easily interact with
these personal devices—is close to being just as
important to homeowner, too.
