1. The Black Figures Costume
We want the character of the black figure to have a mysterious and dangerous appearance.
Furthermore we want the costume to have a shadow like effect which create a eerie style which
creates fear for the audience. I have done a variety of research primary and secondary to find a
effective costume for the black figure.
Woman in Black Play and Film
I have seen Woman in Black in a Theatre once and recall useful research that is perfect for our
trailer as the Ghost has similar characteristics to our own character. The ghosts face was covered
in a translucent cape and she wore a large black cape which created sinister imagery. Below are
some of the images of the Women in Black in the Play.
As well as watching
the play I thought it would also be important to see how the ghost is depicted in the film. The film is
largely similar to the play as she is dressed fully in black.My only criticism of the films depiction is
the use of effects on the characters face to create a sinister appearance as I feel the simplistic
costume in the play is more effective.
