2. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real
media products?
3. Fonts
The font we wanted something that was going to
appear as being ‘scary’. We then found a perfect
font which made it look like it had blood dripping
down from the text. This will add to the scary
horror theme that we tried to present in the
horror. Ours was slightly different to the cliché
horror because we had the film title at the end to
add suspense for the viewers watching.
4. Location
The first location that we picked got shut from public
half way through our filming. This means that we had to
find somewhere else to film and redo the scenes that we
have already done due to continuity. One of my cousins
lives on a farm and he said that there was an abandoned
farmhouse that we could use for the production. This
location was perfect for our production as it fit with the
story line very well.
5. Camera
We didn’t want to be like every other horror film so we
decided to be different. We filmed it all first person. We
got the idea from ‘Blair witch’. I think this worked well
with the production because it made people feel like it
was them walking through the abandoned house and
not some actors.
6. Editing
For editing we tried to use jump cuts. This is because we
wanted to do jump scare horror. This is where you make
the audience get scared and make them ‘jump’. This is to
get them into the video and to want to carry on
watching.
7. Sound
The sound that we use in the production are a bit cliché
and are expected in horrors. This is because we need
something to build up the tension of the video. This is to
add the tension and atmosphere that is required to try
and grab the audiences attention and to make them feel
apart of the film.
8. Costumes
As our film was set at night time we couldn’t really see
the costumes that the actors were wearing. We did the
typical horror costume of dark clothing and this worked
with out production as because we did it at night the
actors almost blended in with the darkness.
9. Conclusion
Overall I think we did a good idea with the fact of doing
first person filming. This was to be different as I have
only ever seen Blair Witch do it. This means that it
would be different when the audience watch the film
which could mean that they might enjoy it even more
due to it being different.
