The document discusses several characters that represent different social groups:
- The villain/murderer represents a dark, mysterious, and evil social group. They are often portrayed as wearing dark clothes to seem sinister.
- The detective represents the social group of law enforcers who bring justice. Detectives dress suitably in smart jackets and dedicate a lot of time to their investigations.
- The victim, Jane, represents an innocent social group who lives a good life until being murdered. She is dressed smartly for work.
- The assistant works under a respected authority figure like a detective and represents assistants who are professional but still adopt a rough look. They are often male-dominated roles

hhCharacters
1. A social group is a collection of
people who interact with each other
and share similar characteristics
and a sense of unity.
2. This character is appealing to the social group of a villain/murderer. The
characteristics of a villain are dark, evil and mysterious. Also, The
murderer is portrayed as a dark character who almost hides in the
darkness. The character shares many similarities to the villain of the film
Face Off. He wears dark black clothes which adds the mystery of the
character and the evil presence due to the fact black often shows
people as dark and evil. The murderer in a film is often seen as a male
and is very rarely a women due to the fact male are presented as a
dominant gender. The voice of the murderer is also a mysterious,
croaky, deep voice which adds to the already created mysterious factor
of the character. The editing used when the murderer is on screen is
black and white which continues to add to the dark atmosphere to the
film/character.
3. The detective represents the social of the law enforcers and who
bring justice to the world. The detective in my film is wearing a
black jacket which is shared by the picture on the right showing a
detective from the film Se7en. Detectives have authority which
shows the fact they are required to dress suitably. A smart jacket
gives the impression he is a hard working man who dedicates a lot
of time to his investigations and has little time to look after himself.
We decided it was suitable for a male detective as the trade
profession to be male dominated. In our film, we emphasised the
fact we tried to do as many shots in the film at eye level as the
4. Jane represents the social group of a victim and is often seen to
be living a good life up to the point where she is murdered.
Victims are seen as happy people who are often loved by many.
Jane, the victim, is played by a woman. We felt this was suitable
as a dominant man is often seen killing an innocent women. This
is shared by the film above, Se7en, where the innocent women
is murdered. The character is wearing smart clothes as she is
leaving her work place. The heels she is wearing presents her as
being a smart women who takes pride in what she wears and
how she looks.
5. The social group being represented is assistants who work
under a more respected person with more authority. The
characteristics of this social group includes professionalism.
The main detective has an assistant who is also adopting a
rough look but takes more pride in the way he comes across
as he is working under the main detective. This was influenced
by the assistant detective from the series True Detective. Once
again this character is played by a male as it is a male
dominated profession.
