Baby Suggs Dichotomy
While the lash marks from whippings remain on their skins, the former slaves within Toni
Morrison's Beloved are scarred most by their mental trauma. While connecting to the community is
used as part of the healing process, Morrison abolishes the concept that all communities are healing.
Specifically, communities in which the relations of power are equal and members treated as ends in
themselves are critical in overcoming adversity, while an imbalance of power, as well as seclusion,
can incite the trauma from the beginning.
The dichotomy between collective support and an individual in isolation is evaporated as Paul D,
struggles both in isolation and still faces deindividuation at the community of Sweet Home. Paul D,

Baby Suggs plays a critical role in self and communal healing as according to Cynthia, "Baby
Suggs' definitive 'self' is a direct result of her rejecting the name given to her by white patriarchy...
Baby Suggs never suffers from a loss of identity because of slavery". Despite not knowing her real
name, Baby Suggs affirms her own identity. Requiring no identity from her masters, parents, or even
lover, Baby Suggs is the most self–actualized of all characters; while still needing her son's help to
legally be free, internally Baby Suggs is self driven., she is the marrow that creates her own blood,
the heart that pumps it, and the muscles that propel herself forward. Baby Suggs goes on to use her
skills in the Clearing to provide communal therapy for others. The Clearing acts as a curative force
and the antithesis of harmful collectives such as Sweet Home; "laughing children, dancing men,
crying women and then it got mixed up"(103) animates the contrast between the two types of
community as the Clearing is depicted as a community that is an extension of the identities that form
it, with synergy between its members as the laughter, crying, and dancing coalesce into one state of
being. While the former slaves are physically free, their emotions remain incarcerated within them
until they are emancipated through communion at the Clearing. Meanwhile, the community of Pauls
at Sweet Home differ from the Clearing as it is a subversive community intended to mill away at
each Pauls' sense of self. Like an ant starving alone from its colony, a starling roosting away from its
flock, or an angel failing isolated from its god, Toni Morrison in her magnum opus Beloved
undoubtedly unveils the universally applicable principle of

Home Sweet Home
Everyone dreams about buying his or her dream house; I lost my dream house, twice. When my
girlfriend Izzy and I began house searching, it was a whirlwind of excitement. This was our first
hunt in the real estate market, and we were ready to close in on the perfect first house. Suddenly we
were staying up into the late hours of the night, cuddled in bed, endlessly searching for houses on
Zillow. Throw pillows, dishes and pictures began to jump off the shelves at us in every store we
entered. We anxiously imagined every aspect of what we wanted in our house. The rush of chasing
down the ideal house and making it our home was thrilling, yet short lived.
We were set on a modern ranch style dwelling, farmhouse style for her, and a large garage for me.
One day our real estate agent called and exclaimed she tracked down a house that met every bullet
point on our checklist, and that we should meet her immediately to view it. The home had a large
southern–style front porch, new rustic bamboo wood floors, and all white cabinets. The open and
light build was perfect for Izzy. Around the side of the house was a two–car garage complete with a
custom peg wall for tools and built–in shelving. Not much further around the house was the back
yard, large and completely fenced in. The storage and build was perfect for me. We knew this was
our house; it had to be.
As we were standing in the center of the bare living room, our real estate agent's phone began to
ring. We

Personal Narrative: My Red Home
When I think about my red house, a free and easy feeling rushes over. Worries consisted of macaroni
being too hot, swinging too high, and Dora, my first dog, pooping in my room. With bookshelves
filled with stuffed animals and countless Pooh Bear toys, I was always content. The playground in
my backyard provided days of fun, and nights in my mom and dad's bed gave me peaceful and
comforting sleep, preparing me for the next day of work. The kitchen was where I liked to claim I
"worked". Although I didn't do a lot of the actual cooking, I liked to be there while my mom was. A
love for cooking and baking developed at a young age, around the same time I realized I wanted to
be just like my mom. The song "Best Day" by Taylor Swift perfectly describes ... Show more

My dad had lived there for many years, and after not seeing him for a while, I decided to spend a
few summers down there. Years prior to first going down to Eufaula, I felt alone and broken not
having my dad with me, and not knowing a whole other side to my life; his family. My Grandma's,
"Mimi", house was always filled warm blankets and warm hearts. The smell of fresh fruit and the
warm comfort of Mimi's hugs were all I needed to know that I had found my true home. The family
I had not known for so long became I huge part of who I was. "Sweet Home Alabama," by Lynyrd
Skynyrd, a classic, gives the overall feeling of Eufaula. "Lord I'm coming home to you," rings true,
because when in Eufaula, I always felt whole and at home. Eufaula became my stability, my
fallback. On the other side of the country, or on the other side of the door, I knew if I was having a
bad day, I could call or run into Eufaula's loving arms. Phillip Phillips' "Home" depicts my home in
Eufaula with these lyrics: "Don't pay no mind to the demons/ They fill you with fear/ The trouble it
might drag you down/ If you get lost, you can always be found/ Just know you're not alone/ Cause
I'm going to make this place your home." No matter what trouble came about, Eufaula gave me the

Rabbit Proof Fence Essay
Composers of texts use a number of individual (and combinations of several) techniques to
reprensent the concept of the physical journey and specifically that it is the journey, not the
destination that matters. Noyce has used a number of filimic and literary techniques thoughout
"Rabbit Proof Fence" to ddo this. The use of symbolism, lighting, characterisation and camera

Camera angles are used by Noyce to explore the idea that it is the journey, not the destination that
matters. The panning long shot of the horizon (used at the commencement of the journey, when the
three girls escape Moore River) is used to express the long difficult task at hand, and that in order to
arrive home, they must over come a harsh terrain and long journey. The use of such varying camera
angles sis indicative that it is the actual journey that matters, as oppose to the final destination.
The "Rabbit Proof Fence" plays two vital roles throughout the journey of Molly, Daisy and Gracie,
and is reflective of the importance of the journey. The fence is a representation of a map, as it is a
symbol of home for the girls and provides a way in order for them to get home (following the
fence). What is later revealed is that the fence has actually proven to be an obstacle, and that they
have followed the wrong fence, and must change direction to get home. The ability of the girls to
overcome this hurdle, and arrive home is again indicative of the notion that it is the journey – not the
destination – that matters when undertaking a physical journey.
The growth of Molly throughout the film reflects on the importance of the journey rather than the
final outcome achieved. Molly is established

Sweet Home Analysis
This trauma is caused by the invasion of Sweet Home into the healing space that once was 124.
Sweet Home is the location in which slavery occurs; therefore, marking it as a site of trauma that
inhabits the memories of Sethe and Paul D. As Jesser mentions, "Sweet Home is the reference point
through which Sethe makes her decisions about the future. It is also the place that they 'belonged to'
and that 'belonged to them.' For Denver, it is a site of exclusion. She challenges their attachments to
each and to the past" (Jesser 329). While Sweet Home was once considered a place of "nice
slavery," it now houses the memories of trauma for those who witnessed and experienced it. For
Denver, who has no actual memories of slavery for herself, she is still affected by slavery because it
traumatizes those around her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What it is, it comes from outside this house, outside the yard, and it can come right on in the yard if
it wants to. So I never leave this house and I watch over the yard, so it can't happen again and my
mother won't have to kill me too" (Morrison 242). The institution of slavery causes trauma for
Denver because she understands that it can happen again at any moment. Even though she was born
outside of Sweet Home, Denver was born into it the institution of slavery because of her mother and
father's positions. Therefore, the presence of Sweet Home as a traumatic space inhabits and
reinforces the traumatic memories of the family within 124. Through the incorporation of Sweet
Home in 124, Morrison emphasizes how the institution of slavery functions as the origin of trauma
for these characters. After 124 gets invaded by trauma, Denver's only healing space becomes the
school at Lady Jones' house, which allows Denver to acknowledge her trauma. This school functions
as the first site of potential healing for Denver because it enables her to leave the trauma of 124 and

things to consider. The most common information to review is square footage, price, amount of
bedrooms, bathrooms, and whether the house has a garage. Validating this information versus other

Finally the survey addressed which websites the potential home buyer was using in their research.
The results show that Realtor.com was the most often used site. This is likely contributed to the fact
that this is the site that most realtors use and it gives the consumer all information that a realtor
would be able to obtain. All in all we have conducted the research on real estate. We have discussed
the median cost a homer buyer is looking for is $212,000. There were surveys conducted half the
buyer will pay $825 or more to $1,075 for amenities for what they want. Also a survey was
conducted showing how many people are using the internet to conduct searches for homes. But the
figures also showed using the internet not many house are public, but using a realtors there are more
public. All together it concluded that 6.2 houses are viewed from the internet versus using a realtor
14 is viewed within two weeks. Looking for a house can be hard, but there are many options on
looking for them.

Marketing And Buying A Home
Selling your own in today's real estate market still requires research, planning and time even with
technology. The process is can be overwhelming if you've decided to go it alone with the assistance
of Modesto realtors. As a FSBO, you may now have access to the marketing and buyers information
which can create delays in listing and selling your home. If this is your first experience, your own
resources may be limited to getting the house on the market, priced correctly to attract buyers and
finally completing all the paperwork for the closing transaction.
Depending on how well you understand the process, you may want to consider the seller program

Modesto realtors understand the market and they know how to present your property for sale to the
potential buyer. They are in a better position with access to qualified buyers, market data and insider
information that rarely is reported in the property comps.
3. Can you sell like Modesto realtors?
Selling a home happens in multiple steps and each phase needs to complete the process before
moving on to the next. As FSBO, you have to compile the findings of the market, preform an
assessment of your home according the market's profile before you can even list the home. Granted
it may only take a few days to do the first few steps by hiring a lawyer. The next steps for marketing,
staging and showing the home will need to be executed smoothly for the sale to close completely on
schedule.
Modesto realtors are one step ahead of you and they are your competition. They are well–informed
on the existing real estate market and know what's happening in your neighborhood to prevent any
mishaps that may affect deals currently in process. Sometimes the changes are simple to fix and
other times they can halt the sale sending the buyer to purchase another home on the market.

When The Housing Market Collapse
When the housing market collapse occurred I was much younger and not fully aware or advised of
how serious the situation really was. Several of my family members owned homes then, but looking
back now they sheltered their children from the situation completely. I realized still to this day I do
not know how or what they were doing to get through the market collapse but I realize my situation
could have been much worse. Now years later I am faced with the decision to buy a home someday
like many in my generation and those looking to buy property again. But just like a growing society
its citizens must learn from previous mistakes made in order to avoid the same outcomes and
flourish.
Here are just some of the lessons we must learn from:
First you must do your own research. If you are seriously looking for a home look into everything
you can think of and then research some more. If you have a partner then you will be able to expand
your research with two different points of views and get more results. Don't depend on Wall Street
and their outlooks for the future because in reality it is a game of chances. Just because someone
says jump off a bridge into shallow water because you won't drown would you do it? The people on
Wall Street and those in charge (unless psychic) can't predict the future.
Another lesson learned: Mortgage debt is real debt and must be paid eventually. A lot of home
owners would refinance their homes for extra cash but you can't do that forever.

Recalling when my husband and I sold our first house, it's apparent that emotional persuasion had an
impact on the sale. Reminiscent of a fifties style box house, ours was a small bungalow in a young
neighborhood filled with young families. Similar to the majority of homeowners in the area, it was
our first home in a new subdivision filled with young families and people embarking on their life
journeys. In the first few weeks of being listed, potential buyers flocked to preview it; however,
interestingly, the couple who ultimately bought the property seemed more interested in their
idealizations than truly in the house itself. Expectant with their first child, this was going to be their
first purchased home. As she entered the house for

Personal Statement : Homework Taught Me
When I was young, I had my own agenda and things I thought were most important in my life. I had
everything in order and I knew exactly what I wanted to do and when to do it. I did, however, have
my daily chores. I had smaller chores like cleaning my room or helping put dishes in the sink
starting around six years old. As I got older my chore list became longer which included washing
dishes, sweeping the floor, feeding our dogs, and general cleaning. I had four siblings in my
household so they were all divided among us. At the time, I did not know how much I was learning
from these duties. The many lessons chores taught me was not necessarily obvious to me until I
became an adult and was living on my own. If you were to ask most children or teenagers how
doing chores and other household work would benefit them they would probably not believe there
was any advantage for their future. As a teenager they may need more motivation or discipline in
order to get them to even attempt their duties.
As I came into adulthood, I found that one of the biggest benefits I gained was my inward drive to
see any project I start to the end; whether it be school work, career, or family. In my later teenage
years, I wanted to get a job as soon as I was legally able. Even though it was a part time job at the
local grocery store, I ensured that I was always on time and performed my duties above standard.
My parents played a large part in teaching me to be dedicated, managing my time and taking

The Theme Of Memories In Toni Morrison's Beloved
In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, memories are seen as powerful instruments which haunt the
characters throughout the narrative. During the institution of slavery, slaves were dehumanised and
treated subordinately. This novel asserts the fact that slaves were actually human beings, by
exploring the ways that they had to endure the disturbing and traumatic memories of it, and still find
ways to live. In the article 'Four Hundred Years of Silence: Myth, History and Motherhood in Toni
Morrison's Beloved', Sally Keenan explores "the need to remember and to tell and the desire to
forget, memories with an inexhaustible and monstrous power to erupt and overwhelm the mind but
which must somehow be laid aside if life is to continue" (48). By this Keenan means that the novel
accentuates the difficulty that the characters face in order to forget their painful memories, which at
the same time cannot be disremembered. The urge to forget is complicated as it becomes laden with
the feelings of pain, guilt, shame and fear, which eventually leads to an assumption that the
traumatic memories cannot be forgotten.
In the first section I will discuss "the need to remember and to tell", and ... Show more content on

possibility for life to carry on. The narrator says, "They forgot her like a bad dream". A "bad dream"
is something frightful that only exists in someone's mind, therefore it is not real. Beloved however,
is real and the community tries to "lay" the memory of her aside by pretending that she never
existed. The reason for this is because although Beloved is Sethe's memory of her horrifying
experience, she also reminds them of their own personal experiences brought about by

I strongly disagree and believe that if someone cannot consider their house a home, it has a lot to do
with the attitudes of those living in it. I also believe that a house is the place where most teenagers
remain until, at least, the age of eighteen because of not being able to afford their own house. On the
other hand, they all belong to a home where, whether or not they admit it, they will always have a
loving family to welcome them into their hearts. Many of them tend to feel this way because as they
grow older they begin to only think of themselves and become very self–centered or selfish. These
feelings of selfishness usually do not change until teenagers begin progressing into adulthood. If a
teenager sees how their selfishness negatively affects their family and they begin to change their
ways, while still in their teenage years, this change is usually the cause of a bad event that left them
lonely and in the dark. This event could have been something along the lines of tough love from
family members which caused this person to look back on events they regretted from the past and
helped them to look forward to changing these actions for a better future. Many of my friends

Descriptive Essay : Your Family Photos Down From The Walls...
Your home reflects your identity and your taste –– but it may not feel like home to a prospective
buyer. Simplify your home décor to appeal to a wide variety of tastes when preparing to sell your
house. 1. Take your family photos down from the walls. They are undoubtedly beautiful, but you
want buyers to imagine their own family portraits hanging there. 2. If you are repainting for a fresh,
clean effect, choose a light color. To make the room seem even brighter, paint the ceiling a lighter
color than the walls. 3. Use lighting to make the proportions of the room look their best. If a room is
too wide, brighter lighting at the narrow ends will widen it visually. If, on the other hand, the room
is too narrow, having brighter lights on the wide sides will bring it into balance. 4. If some rooms
seem a bit dark, place spotlights on the floor behind the furniture. The extra light will brighten the
room without adding a conspicuous number of lamps. 5. If your window treatments are outdated or
shabby, replace them with simple mini–blinds. 6. Take some of your furniture out of each room. You
want your rooms to look as large and airy to welcome their new owners. Having less furniture in
sight will create this feeling. Don 't leave the house empty, though, even if you 've already moved, as
it usually is more difficult to sell a completely empty house. Most buyers find it difficult to imagine

VICE and Thomas Morton use countless images of pathos such as rotten fruit, empty farming fields
with tomatoes laying to waste, overflowing mailboxes at an abandoned trailer park, and an empty
place of employment that use to be filled with immigrant workers. The images of rotting fruit
invokes a feeling of waste among most because the epidemic of hunger is a well–known problem
across the US. The abandoned trailer park invokes a feeling of sadness knowing that it was once
populated with immigrant workers. Thomas Morton states, "... once populated exclusively by
immigrants until alabama passed one of the most harsh pieces of anti–immigrant legislation in the
country and most immigrants left." The abandoned trailer park invokes a feeling of sadness knowing
that it was once populated with immigrant workers. Another utilization of pathos is an interview
with a resident of the virtually abandoned trailer park who states, "Many of them[Latino
immigrants] left because cops were gonna have the power to pull people over just because they were

the ghost is a baby which would not be able to hurt the family in a huge and horrible way. Likewise,
if the ghost is not a baby but an adult, then the ghost might easily kill them when it got mad. Thus,
Baby Sugg thinks that there is no point of moving to another house because they baby has none of

painful. This quote demonstrates that Sethe's "chokecherry tree" scar on her back was resulted by
the men who whipped her and tole her baby's milk when she was still a slave. I think Morrison gives
us the information bit by little bit because she wanted to hid certain information for the middle of

Sweet Home Short Story Analysis
Sethe's childhood was full of loss and trauma. In her view, "'What happened to her?' [Denver]
'Hung. By the time they cut her down nobody could tell whether she had a circle and a cross or not,
least of all me and I did look.'[Sethe]" (p. 61) This means Sethe was only a little girl when her
mother died and Nan took her in. This demonstrates that Sethe's childhood was tough from the
beginning. Another example of her childhood is, "She told Sethe that her mother and Nan were
together from the sea. Both were taken up many times by the crew. 'She threw them all away but
you.'" (p. 62) Morrison's point is that Sethe was lucky enough to stay alive and not thrown into the

There was something blessed in his manner. Women saw him and wanted to weep" (p. 17) This
exemplifies how kind he was when Sethe told Paul D. He could make women let their emotions out
and Paul D. would be there to listen. What is more important, is how kind he was to Sethe when
they were at Sweet Home. Life at Sweet Home was not entertaining especially when schoolteacher
arrives and treats them like real slaves. It follows then how Sethe was treated as a slave and the
reason why she killed her children.
While Sethe was a slave, she made the choice of killing her children in order to protect them. In her
view, "It ain't my job to know what's worse. It's my job to know what is and to keep them away from
what I know is terrible. I did that." (p. 165) This means Sethe did not want to know what would
happen if her children were still alive. This demonstrates that Sethe wanted the best for her children
and wanted to kill them so they wouldn't have to go through slavery. Another example of Sethe's
experience as a slave is, "Whitegirl. That's what she called it... A chokecherry tree. Trunk, branches,
and even leaves. Tiny little chokecherry leaves. But that was eighteen years ago. Could have
cherries too now for all I know." Morrison's point is that Sethe was beaten so bad, her lashings
became infected and was described as a chokecherry tree. This is important because the tree
symbolizes the enduring strength Sethe went through. According to Paul D., "You got two

of it. However, she does not. She also includes "Kentucky's survivors" in the title as well, but this
whole book is about the survivors living in Kentucky, so why restate it? One of the most fascinating
stories to me, is the one of Mr. Perlman, on page 9. From Donahue's explanation, it sounds like he
was interested in helping at first, which lasted several years. However, his views on the project
dramatically changed, almost as if something had happened to him. Donahue did not push the
subject, but intriguingly, decided to still include his contributions towards the subject and their
peculiar meeting. After the story of Mr. Perlman, she included Mr. Goldfarb's light–hearted tales
from when he visited schools, which seemed out of

Examples Of Home Sweet Home In The Great Gatsby
Home Sweet Home The Great Gatsby is a good example of how the characters in the book reflect
their homes. The book also reflects on how this affects the characters and their relationships Tom
and Daisy live in luxury as Nick described their house on page six he says ; Their house was even
more elaborate than I expected, a cheerful red–and–white Georgian Colonial mansion, overlooking
the bay. The lawn started at the beach and ran toward the front door for a quarter of a mile, jumping
over sun–dials and brick walls and burning gardens一finally when it reached the house drifting up
the side in bright vines as though from the momentum of its run. The front was broken by a line of
french windows, glowing now with reflected gold and wide open to the warm windy afternoon, and
Tom Buchanan in riding clothes was standing with his legs a part on the front porch. (6) He explains
how the house and Tom are similar both large and sturdy, Yet when Nick describes them entering the
french doors it seems whimsical and light. This describes Daisy in many ways Although she shows
throughout the book that she doesn't care about many things, she even says "... I hope she'll be a fool
– that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool."(7) The Buchanan household
reflects its owners in many ways even toward the end of the book when Gatsby dies the couple is
cold and emotionless and their house seems barren and empty. George and Myrtle Wilson don't live

Trained as a Butcher
According to the book Home Sweet Home by author, graphic designer and friend Tristan Manco,
Banksy was born in 1974 and grew up in Bristol, England. Manco also wrote that Banksy trained as
a butcher but became involved in the Bristol underground scene during the late 1980s aerosol boom.
The scene involved collaborations with musicians and artists. Banksy himself has said that his work
was inspired by graffiti artist Robert Del Naja, also known as 3D and a founding member of the
band Massive Attack. Art critics and observers have compared Banksy 's work to Blek le Rat, whose
real name is Xavier Prou and who is known as the father of stencil graffiti.
In the early 1990s, Banksy started as a freehand graffiti artist, using stencils as elements in his
pieces. However, by

Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped
in this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a
person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that
belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is
not benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this.
The best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than
renting an apartment.

Buying a house provides stability forever unless the owner decides to sell or to move into another
home in which the owner gains equity for selling. This is still a huge benefit. Owning a home is a
very huge security measure. When a person is an actual homeowner and not a renter he or she can
control who actually enters his or her home (Map, 2011). It is easier to purchase home alarm
systems and everything that goes on in a person's home is controlled by the owner. As a homeowner
the option of what is allowed and what goes on is controlled by the actual homeowner. If an issue
comes up and the owner has to move somewhere else then this is a huge benefit. As a seller a person
can earn so much money and it can build equity (Media, 2010). Usually homes sell for way more
than the purchase prices, especially if the owner has customized the home, in which was discussed
earlier (RP Reality, 2011). The selling price could be a huge benefit to any owner who is selling their
home and moving. These benefits cannot be earned by an apartment renter. Buying a home is the
best route to choose in any situation. Buying a home means actually owning something. There is no
more following another person's rules, no more paying out unnecessary money. It means a sense of
security and stability for a person's family. It is the key to a better lifestyle. The benefits are all there.

Women Are The Ones Who Handle Household Chores
Always women are the ones who handle the household chores
Household chores like doing the laundry, cleaning the utensils, taking care of children and making
food is always done by women. If both, husband and wife are working, it is always the woman
doing the domestic work. But this is not always true. This is in fact a gender stereotype which has
existed since many years. Maybe not all men or fathers do household chores, but many do.
According to Catherine Rampell, a writer for The New York Times newspaper, on an average day,
66.6% men and 85% women report doing some sort of household activity.
Almost everybody believe in this stereotype. Even if a man is sharing household work with his
spouse or any other female in the house, his image is presented as if he does nothing. Even if he is
contributing little, he is at least doing something, and something is definitely better than nothing. No
man's conscious would allow him to see his wife or any female in the house do all the work in the
house alone. Even if a man is going out for groceries, it is not considered a household work by the
female, just because he did not contribute to do the work in the house. Women tend to see the results
instead of the work done to get those particular results. If men are doing the dishes, it is considered
nothing because they are just rinsing them and putting them in the dish washer, which is an easy job.
But it takes time to do it. Men are using up their time, in which they relax, to do the

Resident Evil 5 Representation
Resident Evil 5, which is known as Biohazard 5 in Japan, is a survival horror video game developed
and published by a digital company named Capcom (Snow, 2008: 1). The game was released on the
5th of March in 2009. The plot of Resident Evil revolves around characters named Chris Redfield–
the white middle aged male protagonist– and Sheva Alomar– the middle aged female character that
serves to support Chris (Snow, 2008: 1). It also revolves around their investigation of a terrorist
threat in Kijuju, which is a fictional region in Africa (Snow, 2008: 1). In this essay, the question of
how representation of the other embodies relations of power is explored using Resident Evil 5 and
using Stuart Hall's theories, namely, representation, binary oppositions, stereotypes and
naturalization to conclude how representation of the other carries relations of power. ... Show more

Representation is the act of portraying or depicting something (Merriam–Webster's Online
Dictionary 2014)). According to Stuart Hall, it means using language to say something meaningful
about, or to present for the second time, the world meaningfully to the other people (Hall, 1997:
259). Hall further states that there is a fixed connection between power–which he defines as the
ability to control people or things, that can radiate from both dominant and the dominated (Hall,
1997: 261)–and representation. In conclusion, Hall's idea is that in the context of representation, the
circularity of power is critical. In Resident Evil 5, a number of things such as the African continent
and the people living in it are represented as the other from the 'normal' western society, which
embodies relations of power in a sense that the power radiates from the 'normal' western society
towards the subordinate other, which in this context is the African continent and its people. When

A Sweet Friendship Refreshes The Soul Analysis
Proverbs 27.9 says "a sweet friendship refreshes the soul." My quote relates to the essay by saying
friendship is something that refreshes the soul. When you are stressed, depressed or happy being
with a friend can help cheer you up or maintain your happiness. The family will always be here for
us and since you always see family you can get tired of seeing them. That's when friends come in,
friends can be the people you count when you're tired of being around and doing stuff with family. I
believe students should be allowed to spend more time with friends because we can get a break from
parents, talk about anything, and be free from housework.
One reason i believe students should be able to spend more time with friends on the weekend is
because you need breaks from your parents . Parents can irritate you by coming in to your room
every 30 min. telling you to clean up something. They also can ask you a plethora of questions
asking about your friends and school life. Sometimes you simply don't want to talk about it.
According to Robert Von Nordheim " Friendship can increase your sense of belonging and purpose,
boost your happiness reduce stress , improve self worth and help you cope with traumas ". Things
happen during the week like drama's with friends, lots of homework , and taking & studying for test.
Those things can cause stress and friends are the best people to help you relieve that stress. In
addition to reading a break from parents , I believe students should

Sweet Home Alabama Songs Analysis
I consider my favorite song to be, Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd and believe it has been
my favorite ever since I could understand words. At first the song was only my favorite because it
mentions my dads hometown, Muscle Shoals, and I just thought it was super neat. As I grew older
my dad explained to me the meaning and the story of the song, and I only started to like it more. The
song Sweet Home Alabama was written in the 1970's as a response to two songs written by Neil
Young. The two songs written by Neil Young were Southern Man and Alabama, and the songs
essentially bashed on the southern people for slowing down the progress of getting rid of
segregation. So Lynyrd Skynyrd decided to write Sweet Home Alabama strictly as a response

Home Sweet Home
For many home could be defined as the physical spaces we inhabit. However, for others home is
defined in a deeper level that relates to the relationships we have or want to have with people. Home
could be categorized in micro and macro levels. The micro level could reflect on the immediate
situation in where we find ourselves such as the terrestrial space where we dwell in, the people we
live with, etc. On the other hand, in the macro level home may perhaps refer to a broader idea of self
that characterize us, such as the country we come from, the culture we were brought up in, etc.
While the meaning of the word home is relative and based on personal opinions, architecture is a
tool that could help us create an identity of what we consider home to be since it reflects physical,
historical, and social conditions of the physical reality we live in. I live in the 7th floor of an
apartment building with my family. Although this type of housing is quite common in this area, our
home has some peculiar features that I have discovered recently. Because of its placement and small
architectural cues this residence acts like a physical bookmark of a period in New York's history that
I have only recently been able to register and appreciate thanks to my newfound architectural
knowledge.
New York is known for its skyscrapers; however, there is architectural diversity that does not only

Why Women Have For Do Housework?
Why Women Have to do the Housework?
"Ngan, have you finished washing the dishes?" "Where are my socks?" "Have you not ironed my t–
shirt? ''. These inquiries play again and again in my mind. I have always wondered why my brother
does not have to do chores as much as I do. . I spend eight hours at work then come home to cook
and clean. Although the second shift is familiar, the reasons that result in this issue is still what I am
trying to discover.
Firstly, there are stereotypes associated with each gender; both of which differs in various
characteristics and personality traits. In her article, Tamra Cohen points out the initial characteristic
of women is caring. Taking care of children is more appropriate than male due to this quality. ...

This also causes a concern all the housework claims on women because women are gifted at looking
after. This explains why women always feel insecure, they try to protect and indulge while father
tends to hard their children.
On the other hand, the second trend appeared in the nineteenth century. The difference between male
and female constitution forms all the housework is women jobs. According to Family.org, since the
nineteenth century, men who are stronger performance their works in workshop while women who
are gentler plays an important role at home. As men began to specialize in paid work, housework
became increasingly linked to women. In the early nineteenth century, the ideology of separate
spheres, associating men with the (public) workplace and women with the (private) home, became
popular. According to this ideology, the home was viewed as pure, serene, and secure, as opposed to
the impure, unsympathetic, and uncertain work world. Women, perceived as pious, virtuous, and
submissive, became the rightful guardians of the domestic haven, even as their role in productive
labor declined. Although more fantasy than reality, particularly in poor and working–class families,
the "cult of true womanhood" linked women 's "nature" with the performance of family work.
Therefore, a more accurate conclusion is that as the Industrial Revolution rules all the companies,
people separate from home

Title Search, what's in a name?
A title search is a way to prove who is selling the property and if they really have the right to sell it.
It's important for the buyer as it ensures and confirms what is being bought and
HSH 5 sold. Performing the title search is a part of most real estate transactions. There are steps
involved in a title search that examine the different pieces needed to prove ownership and allow for
the sale of property. Steps of researching and verifying chain of title, taxes, possession reports,
judgment, name searches and commitment are used to navigate the title search and verification.
These steps are not involved in renting and therefor can act as another motivation in favor of buying
with a sense of security instead of gambling on the landlords/companies' word that the property is
theirs to offer.
When these searches have been completed, and the financial outcomes have been weighed the time
to decide whether to rent or buy awaits.

One of my favorite movies of all time is Sweet Home Alabama. This movie came out in the early
2000s starring two of my favorite actors, Reese Witherspoon and Patrick Dempsey. Reese
Witherspoon plays an up and rising fashion designer in New York, Melanie Carmichael. Melanie has
the perfect life in New York with her career, friends, and boyfriend, Andrew, who happens to be the
son of the mayor of New York. But when Andrew proposes to her, Melanie has to face the skeletons

The concept of geography and language is also displayed several times throughout this movie. At
the beginning, Melanie and Andrew think that they have a lot in common, but as Melanie continues
her stay in her hometown, she finds that they have more differences than she originally thought. The
concept of geography and language is continuously displayed in the way that Andrew interacts with
his friends and family and the way that Melanie interacts with her friends and family. The South has
been portrayed for years and years as having southern hospitality. The people who live in the South
have always had the stereotype of being warm, sweet, and welcoming to their visitors and those
around them. When Andrew and his mother first meet Melanie's parents, Melanie's parents welcome
Andrew and his mother with a warm hug and a loving attitude, which makes Andrew's mother
extremely uncomfortable because, during this time especially, people in the North weren't portrayed
as being as up close and personal as those in the South. Another more obvious difference between
Melanie and Andrew regarding geography and language is their basic lifestyle views and beliefs.
Andrew grew up in New York City with his mother who is highly involved in the Democratic Party,
while Melanie grew up in the South where, during this time, the majority of the southern region had

Is Sethe Justified In Sweet Home
Generally speaking, readers are encouraged to respond to Sethe's actions like most other characters
in the novel and deem her actions as disgusting and unforgivable. This is due to the fact that most
characters, such as Stamp Paid and Paul D, feel that, "more important than what Sethe had done was
what she claimed" (Morrison 193). This refers to the fact that Sethe justified her actions and did not
necessarily feel that she had done anything wrong–in fact, she felt that her plan had worked out, as
seen during her conversation with Paul D. However, the fact that she was seemingly oblivious to the
inhumane actions she committed encourages readers to judge Sethe harshly in response to her
actions. But, despite the overwhelming pressure to feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of this, the people she needs forgiveness from aren't her neighbors or the general public,
but are rather Howard, Bulgar, and most importantly, Beloved herself. Despite sinning against
society and everything motherhood should stand for, the most atrocious sin she committed was
against her own children, which is why their forgiveness is the only one that truly matters.
Furthermore, while certainly not being noble or courageous, Sethe's actions are indeed
maternalistic–she chose to kill her children because it was the only way she felt she could protect
them from the schoolteacher. In her argument with Paul D, Sethe contends that, as a mother, "It's my
job to know what is and to keep them away from what I know is terrible" (Morrison 194), and she
did just that. Sethe knew exactly what was in store for her children if they were to fall into the
clutches of the schoolteacher, so, as their mother, she protected them from it because it was her duty
as their mother to do so. However, in addition to being maternalistic, it can also be argued that
Sethe's actions were instinctual and were not as planned out as they should have been, therefore
coming across as rather animalistic and barbaric. As

Analysis Of The Movie ' Sweet Home Alabama '
The Southern portion of the United States ranging from the East Coast to Texas is commonly
referred to as the South. Two different versions of this area exist. One is the true South that anyone
who drives through states like Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi will see. The other South is a
popularized depiction of this region. Hollywood has played a part in constructing this version of the
South by creating countless movies that have depicted a stereotyped South fixated on the
Antebellum Era. The 2002 movie "Sweet Home Alabama" poetries Southerners that are trying to
preserve the way of life that existed before the Civil War.
The main plot of the movie is that Melanie Carmichael, played by Reese Witherspoon, becomes
engaged to the son of the mayor of New York City, but before they can get married she has to go to
Alabama to finalize her divorce. During one part of the movie she reveals that her friend Bobby Ray
is gay. A little further into the movie she goes to Bobby Ray's house to apologize. In this scene she is
standing on the front porch of a giant white plantation house, and an African American women
answers the door and tells her that Bobby Ray is in the backyard. Mel goes to the backyard where
she finds Bobby Ray and his grandpa blowing anvils into the air. Bobby Ray's Grandpa is dressed as
a Confederate soldier, and later in the clip it is revealed that the act of blowing the anvils into the air
is related to the Civil War. Mel apologies to Bobby Ray and as she is

Reflection On Vedi
Vedi, its title taken from Mehta`s childhood nick name, is a rare powerful book with description of a
very unusual childhood in the era of the past from the innocent fantastic eyes of a child. It opens a
window to the working of the mind of a child–his fears, his traumas, his thinking, and his way of

normal child despite his blindness. Though his prospects as a normal child were bleak, he had the
fatalistic Indian attitude towards blindness. Unlike George orwell`s bitter memoir of his boarding
school days, Vedi, the innocent ignorant child, accepts the terrible, monstrous events in his life with
composure and surprisingly with a kind of gaiety. He is a high–spirited, strong willed, eager little

of the cruelty and difficult predicament. The situation is much worse than the child is able to

The situation analysis is a systematic collection and evaluation of past and present economical,

General Environment The component of business external environments, the general environment
represents the forces that exist outside of the company that have the potential to indirectly affect it in
some way. Although businesses cannot control what takes place within the general environment,
evaluations of the general environment can allow businesses the opportunity to predict changes and
also to identify future opportunities. The dimensions are grouped into seven environmental
segments: demographics, economics, political/legal, sociocultural, technological, global, and
physical (Hitt, Ireland, & Hoskisson, 2015). Demographic Trend The demographic segment is
concerned with a population's size, age structure, geographic, distribution, ethnic mix, and income

potential effects across countries' borders and because many firms compete in global markets (Hitt,

while "bristle" and plants used to "make ink" serve more utilitarian purposes (Morrison 27). Clearly,
the kitchen contains plant life that serves as both decor and utilities, but these plants primarily serve

Baby Suggs' Role in Healing Through Community in Beloved

  • 1. Baby Suggs Dichotomy While the lash marks from whippings remain on their skins, the former slaves within Toni Morrison's Beloved are scarred most by their mental trauma. While connecting to the community is used as part of the healing process, Morrison abolishes the concept that all communities are healing. Specifically, communities in which the relations of power are equal and members treated as ends in themselves are critical in overcoming adversity, while an imbalance of power, as well as seclusion, can incite the trauma from the beginning. The dichotomy between collective support and an individual in isolation is evaporated as Paul D, struggles both in isolation and still faces deindividuation at the community of Sweet Home. Paul D, despite being treated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baby Suggs plays a critical role in self and communal healing as according to Cynthia, "Baby Suggs' definitive 'self' is a direct result of her rejecting the name given to her by white patriarchy... Baby Suggs never suffers from a loss of identity because of slavery". Despite not knowing her real name, Baby Suggs affirms her own identity. Requiring no identity from her masters, parents, or even lover, Baby Suggs is the most self–actualized of all characters; while still needing her son's help to legally be free, internally Baby Suggs is self driven., she is the marrow that creates her own blood, the heart that pumps it, and the muscles that propel herself forward. Baby Suggs goes on to use her skills in the Clearing to provide communal therapy for others. The Clearing acts as a curative force and the antithesis of harmful collectives such as Sweet Home; "laughing children, dancing men, crying women and then it got mixed up"(103) animates the contrast between the two types of community as the Clearing is depicted as a community that is an extension of the identities that form it, with synergy between its members as the laughter, crying, and dancing coalesce into one state of being. While the former slaves are physically free, their emotions remain incarcerated within them until they are emancipated through communion at the Clearing. Meanwhile, the community of Pauls at Sweet Home differ from the Clearing as it is a subversive community intended to mill away at each Pauls' sense of self. Like an ant starving alone from its colony, a starling roosting away from its flock, or an angel failing isolated from its god, Toni Morrison in her magnum opus Beloved undoubtedly unveils the universally applicable principle of ... • 3. Descriptive Essay On Home Sweet Home Home Sweet Home Everyone dreams about buying his or her dream house; I lost my dream house, twice. When my girlfriend Izzy and I began house searching, it was a whirlwind of excitement. This was our first hunt in the real estate market, and we were ready to close in on the perfect first house. Suddenly we were staying up into the late hours of the night, cuddled in bed, endlessly searching for houses on Zillow. Throw pillows, dishes and pictures began to jump off the shelves at us in every store we entered. We anxiously imagined every aspect of what we wanted in our house. The rush of chasing down the ideal house and making it our home was thrilling, yet short lived. We were set on a modern ranch style dwelling, farmhouse style for her, and a large garage for me. One day our real estate agent called and exclaimed she tracked down a house that met every bullet point on our checklist, and that we should meet her immediately to view it. The home had a large southern–style front porch, new rustic bamboo wood floors, and all white cabinets. The open and light build was perfect for Izzy. Around the side of the house was a two–car garage complete with a custom peg wall for tools and built–in shelving. Not much further around the house was the back yard, large and completely fenced in. The storage and build was perfect for me. We knew this was our house; it had to be. As we were standing in the center of the bare living room, our real estate agent's phone began to ring. We ... • 5. Personal Narrative: My Red Home When I think about my red house, a free and easy feeling rushes over. Worries consisted of macaroni being too hot, swinging too high, and Dora, my first dog, pooping in my room. With bookshelves filled with stuffed animals and countless Pooh Bear toys, I was always content. The playground in my backyard provided days of fun, and nights in my mom and dad's bed gave me peaceful and comforting sleep, preparing me for the next day of work. The kitchen was where I liked to claim I "worked". Although I didn't do a lot of the actual cooking, I liked to be there while my mom was. A love for cooking and baking developed at a young age, around the same time I realized I wanted to be just like my mom. The song "Best Day" by Taylor Swift perfectly describes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My dad had lived there for many years, and after not seeing him for a while, I decided to spend a few summers down there. Years prior to first going down to Eufaula, I felt alone and broken not having my dad with me, and not knowing a whole other side to my life; his family. My Grandma's, "Mimi", house was always filled warm blankets and warm hearts. The smell of fresh fruit and the warm comfort of Mimi's hugs were all I needed to know that I had found my true home. The family I had not known for so long became I huge part of who I was. "Sweet Home Alabama," by Lynyrd Skynyrd, a classic, gives the overall feeling of Eufaula. "Lord I'm coming home to you," rings true, because when in Eufaula, I always felt whole and at home. Eufaula became my stability, my fallback. On the other side of the country, or on the other side of the door, I knew if I was having a bad day, I could call or run into Eufaula's loving arms. Phillip Phillips' "Home" depicts my home in Eufaula with these lyrics: "Don't pay no mind to the demons/ They fill you with fear/ The trouble it might drag you down/ If you get lost, you can always be found/ Just know you're not alone/ Cause I'm going to make this place your home." No matter what trouble came about, Eufaula gave me the support I needed and was the solid finishing touches to the young woman that was growing to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Rabbit Proof Fence Essay Composers of texts use a number of individual (and combinations of several) techniques to reprensent the concept of the physical journey and specifically that it is the journey, not the destination that matters. Noyce has used a number of filimic and literary techniques thoughout "Rabbit Proof Fence" to ddo this. The use of symbolism, lighting, characterisation and camera angles all enable Noyce to express the physical journey being explored. The cover of Kellehers' novel ______ uses visual techniques such as colour, blending and dark patches to convey the type of journey being explored through his text. "Sweet Home Alabama" uses literary techniques such as symbolism, repetition and rhyme to express the journey being undertaken by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Camera angles are used by Noyce to explore the idea that it is the journey, not the destination that matters. The panning long shot of the horizon (used at the commencement of the journey, when the three girls escape Moore River) is used to express the long difficult task at hand, and that in order to arrive home, they must over come a harsh terrain and long journey. The use of such varying camera angles sis indicative that it is the actual journey that matters, as oppose to the final destination. The "Rabbit Proof Fence" plays two vital roles throughout the journey of Molly, Daisy and Gracie, and is reflective of the importance of the journey. The fence is a representation of a map, as it is a symbol of home for the girls and provides a way in order for them to get home (following the fence). What is later revealed is that the fence has actually proven to be an obstacle, and that they have followed the wrong fence, and must change direction to get home. The ability of the girls to overcome this hurdle, and arrive home is again indicative of the notion that it is the journey – not the destination – that matters when undertaking a physical journey. The growth of Molly throughout the film reflects on the importance of the journey rather than the final outcome achieved. Molly is established ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Sweet Home Analysis This trauma is caused by the invasion of Sweet Home into the healing space that once was 124. Sweet Home is the location in which slavery occurs; therefore, marking it as a site of trauma that inhabits the memories of Sethe and Paul D. As Jesser mentions, "Sweet Home is the reference point through which Sethe makes her decisions about the future. It is also the place that they 'belonged to' and that 'belonged to them.' For Denver, it is a site of exclusion. She challenges their attachments to each and to the past" (Jesser 329). While Sweet Home was once considered a place of "nice slavery," it now houses the memories of trauma for those who witnessed and experienced it. For Denver, who has no actual memories of slavery for herself, she is still affected by slavery because it traumatizes those around her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What it is, it comes from outside this house, outside the yard, and it can come right on in the yard if it wants to. So I never leave this house and I watch over the yard, so it can't happen again and my mother won't have to kill me too" (Morrison 242). The institution of slavery causes trauma for Denver because she understands that it can happen again at any moment. Even though she was born outside of Sweet Home, Denver was born into it the institution of slavery because of her mother and father's positions. Therefore, the presence of Sweet Home as a traumatic space inhabits and reinforces the traumatic memories of the family within 124. Through the incorporation of Sweet Home in 124, Morrison emphasizes how the institution of slavery functions as the origin of trauma for these characters. After 124 gets invaded by trauma, Denver's only healing space becomes the school at Lady Jones' house, which allows Denver to acknowledge her trauma. This school functions as the first site of potential healing for Denver because it enables her to leave the trauma of 124 and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Connect to what you feel, allow your senses to guide you, let the strong memories wash over you and simply give up resistance to maintaining your countenance. Now just for a moment ponder the fact that many people do not have that strong, positive, or sensationally warm feeling of belonging to a location. The Hmong in the book by Anne Fadiman called, The Spirit Catches You And You Fall Down clearly expresses the lack of home and belonging for the Lee family. In fact, this book gives the reader a full look at the post modernistic view of nomadism that the Hmong have endured for centuries and the difficulties that their populous have suffered due to lack of foreigner understanding. • 17. When The Housing Market Collapse When the housing market collapse occurred I was much younger and not fully aware or advised of how serious the situation really was. Several of my family members owned homes then, but looking back now they sheltered their children from the situation completely. I realized still to this day I do not know how or what they were doing to get through the market collapse but I realize my situation could have been much worse. Now years later I am faced with the decision to buy a home someday like many in my generation and those looking to buy property again. But just like a growing society its citizens must learn from previous mistakes made in order to avoid the same outcomes and flourish. Here are just some of the lessons we must learn from: First you must do your own research. If you are seriously looking for a home look into everything you can think of and then research some more. If you have a partner then you will be able to expand your research with two different points of views and get more results. Don't depend on Wall Street and their outlooks for the future because in reality it is a game of chances. Just because someone says jump off a bridge into shallow water because you won't drown would you do it? The people on Wall Street and those in charge (unless psychic) can't predict the future. Another lesson learned: Mortgage debt is real debt and must be paid eventually. A lot of home owners would refinance their homes for extra cash but you can't do that forever. ... • 19. Personal Narrative: Box House On The Sale Recalling when my husband and I sold our first house, it's apparent that emotional persuasion had an impact on the sale. Reminiscent of a fifties style box house, ours was a small bungalow in a young neighborhood filled with young families. Similar to the majority of homeowners in the area, it was our first home in a new subdivision filled with young families and people embarking on their life journeys. In the first few weeks of being listed, potential buyers flocked to preview it; however, interestingly, the couple who ultimately bought the property seemed more interested in their idealizations than truly in the house itself. • 23. Personal Statement : Homework Taught Me When I was young, I had my own agenda and things I thought were most important in my life. I had everything in order and I knew exactly what I wanted to do and when to do it. I did, however, have my daily chores. I had smaller chores like cleaning my room or helping put dishes in the sink starting around six years old. As I got older my chore list became longer which included washing dishes, sweeping the floor, feeding our dogs, and general cleaning. I had four siblings in my household so they were all divided among us. At the time, I did not know how much I was learning from these duties. The many lessons chores taught me was not necessarily obvious to me until I became an adult and was living on my own. If you were to ask most children or teenagers how doing chores and other household work would benefit them they would probably not believe there was any advantage for their future. As a teenager they may need more motivation or discipline in order to get them to even attempt their duties. As I came into adulthood, I found that one of the biggest benefits I gained was my inward drive to see any project I start to the end; whether it be school work, career, or family. In my later teenage years, I wanted to get a job as soon as I was legally able. Even though it was a part time job at the local grocery store, I ensured that I was always on time and performed my duties above standard. My parents played a large part in teaching me to be dedicated, managing my time and taking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. The Theme Of Memories In Toni Morrison's Beloved In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, memories are seen as powerful instruments which haunt the characters throughout the narrative. During the institution of slavery, slaves were dehumanised and treated subordinately. This novel asserts the fact that slaves were actually human beings, by exploring the ways that they had to endure the disturbing and traumatic memories of it, and still find ways to live. In the article 'Four Hundred Years of Silence: Myth, History and Motherhood in Toni Morrison's Beloved', Sally Keenan explores "the need to remember and to tell and the desire to forget, memories with an inexhaustible and monstrous power to erupt and overwhelm the mind but which must somehow be laid aside if life is to continue" (48). By this Keenan means that the novel accentuates the difficulty that the characters face in order to forget their painful memories, which at the same time cannot be disremembered. The urge to forget is complicated as it becomes laden with the feelings of pain, guilt, shame and fear, which eventually leads to an assumption that the traumatic memories cannot be forgotten. In the first section I will discuss "the need to remember and to tell", and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A "bad dream" is something frightful that only exists in someone's mind, therefore it is not real. Beloved however, is real and the community tries to "lay" the memory of her aside by pretending that she never existed. On the other hand, how would you feel if you were able to fill in the section asking for your address, but did not feel like you could call this place home? Maybe you would have feelings of being alone, not loved, or not even cared about. I strongly disagree and believe that if someone cannot consider their house a home, it has a lot to do with the attitudes of those living in it. I also believe that a house is the place where most teenagers remain until, at least, the age of eighteen because of not being able to afford their own house. On the other hand, they all belong to a home where, whether or not they admit it, they will always have a loving family to welcome them into their hearts. Many of them tend to feel this way because as they grow older they begin to only think of themselves and become very self–centered or selfish. These feelings of selfishness usually do not change until teenagers begin progressing into adulthood. If a teenager sees how their selfishness negatively affects their family and they begin to change their ways, while still in their teenage years, this change is usually the cause of a bad event that left them lonely and in the dark. This event could have been something along the lines of tough love from family members which caused this person to look back on events they regretted from the past and helped them to look forward to changing these actions for a better future. Many of my friends complain about not being happy at home and how much they just cannot wait to move out of the house. • 29. Descriptive Essay : Your Family Photos Down From The Walls... Your home reflects your identity and your taste –– but it may not feel like home to a prospective buyer. Simplify your home décor to appeal to a wide variety of tastes when preparing to sell your house. 1. Take your family photos down from the walls. They are undoubtedly beautiful, but you want buyers to imagine their own family portraits hanging there. 2. If you are repainting for a fresh, clean effect, choose a light color. To make the room seem even brighter, paint the ceiling a lighter color than the walls. 3. Use lighting to make the proportions of the room look their best. If a room is too wide, brighter lighting at the narrow ends will widen it visually. If, on the other hand, the room is too narrow, having brighter lights on the wide sides will bring it into balance. 4. If some rooms seem a bit dark, place spotlights on the floor behind the furniture. The extra light will brighten the room without adding a conspicuous number of lamps. 5. If your window treatments are outdated or shabby, replace them with simple mini–blinds. 6. Take some of your furniture out of each room. You want your rooms to look as large and airy to welcome their new owners. Having less furniture in sight will create this feeling. Don 't leave the house empty, though, even if you 've already moved, as it usually is more difficult to sell a completely empty house. They do so by interviewing several credible sources such as Doug Pollard, Police Chief of Albertville, Alabama; Mike Ball, a politician from Alabama's tenth district; and Samuel Addy, an Economist at the University of Alabama. VICE and Thomas Morton use countless images of pathos such as rotten fruit, empty farming fields with tomatoes laying to waste, overflowing mailboxes at an abandoned trailer park, and an empty place of employment that use to be filled with immigrant workers. The images of rotting fruit invokes a feeling of waste among most because the epidemic of hunger is a well–known problem across the US. The abandoned trailer park invokes a feeling of sadness knowing that it was once populated with immigrant workers. Thomas Morton states, "... once populated exclusively by immigrants until alabama passed one of the most harsh pieces of anti–immigrant legislation in the country and most immigrants left." The abandoned trailer park invokes a feeling of sadness knowing that it was once populated with immigrant workers. Another utilization of pathos is an interview with a resident of the virtually abandoned trailer park who states, "Many of them[Latino immigrants] left because cops were gonna have the power to pull people over just because they were brown" (VICE). This is an effective piece of rhetoric because it evokes sympathy. In this chapter, we learn that Sethe was already pregnant with Denver when she ran away from Sweet Home. By the time when Sethe collapsed her feet in the woods, a white girl Amy Denver had found Sethe. Due to Sethe's fear about Sweet Home, she told Amy Denver a false name– "Lu", because if she were caught, she would be returned to Sweet Home, and she would continue experiencing her previous painful daily life again. Thus, Baby Sugg thinks that there is no point of moving to another house because they baby has none of harmful impacts on them. 3. 20–27.What do Paul D and Sethe remember about Sweet Home? For an example, Sethe's life as a slave in Sweet Home is painful. This quote demonstrates that Sethe's "chokecherry tree" scar on her back was resulted by the men who whipped her and tole her baby's milk when she was still a slave. I think Morrison gives us the information bit by little bit because she wanted to hid certain information for the middle of the book. • 35. Sweet Home Short Story Analysis Sethe's childhood was full of loss and trauma. In her view, "'What happened to her?' [Denver] 'Hung. By the time they cut her down nobody could tell whether she had a circle and a cross or not, least of all me and I did look.'[Sethe]" (p. 61) This means Sethe was only a little girl when her mother died and Nan took her in. This demonstrates that Sethe's childhood was tough from the beginning. Another example of her childhood is, "She told Sethe that her mother and Nan were together from the sea. Both were taken up many times by the crew. 'She threw them all away but you.'" (p. 62) Morrison's point is that Sethe was lucky enough to stay alive and not thrown into the sea. What is more important, is how kind he was to Sethe when they were at Sweet Home. Life at Sweet Home was not entertaining especially when schoolteacher arrives and treats them like real slaves. It follows then how Sethe was treated as a slave and the reason why she killed her children. While Sethe was a slave, she made the choice of killing her children in order to protect them. In her view, "It ain't my job to know what's worse. It's my job to know what is and to keep them away from what I know is terrible. I did that." (p. 165) This means Sethe did not want to know what would happen if her children were still alive. This demonstrates that Sethe wanted the best for her children and wanted to kill them so they wouldn't have to go through slavery. Another example of Sethe's experience as a slave is, "Whitegirl. That's what she called it... A chokecherry tree. Trunk, branches, and even leaves. Tiny little chokecherry leaves. But that was eighteen years ago. Could have cherries too now for all I know." Morrison's point is that Sethe was beaten so bad, her lashings became infected and was described as a chokecherry tree. Author, Arwen Donahue writes, in her book, This is Home Now. In this novel, she explores the current lives of Holocaust survivors that call Kentucky their homes. Owning a home is a very huge security measure. When a person is an actual homeowner and not a renter he or she can control who actually enters his or her home (Map, 2011). It is easier to purchase home alarm systems and everything that goes on in a person's home is controlled by the owner. As a homeowner the option of what is allowed and what goes on is controlled by the actual homeowner. If an issue comes up and the owner has to move somewhere else then this is a huge benefit. If both, husband and wife are working, it is always the woman doing the domestic work. But this is not always true. This is in fact a gender stereotype which has existed since many years. Maybe not all men or fathers do household chores, but many do. According to Catherine Rampell, a writer for The New York Times newspaper, on an average day, 66.6% men and 85% women report doing some sort of household activity. Almost everybody believe in this stereotype. Even if a man is sharing household work with his spouse or any other female in the house, his image is presented as if he does nothing. Even if he is contributing little, he is at least doing something, and something is definitely better than nothing. No man's conscious would allow him to see his wife or any female in the house do all the work in the house alone. Even if a man is going out for groceries, it is not considered a household work by the female, just because he did not contribute to do the work in the house. Women tend to see the results instead of the work done to get those particular results. The game was released on the 5th of March in 2009. It also revolves around their investigation of a terrorist threat in Kijuju, which is a fictional region in Africa (Snow, 2008: 1). In this essay, the question of how representation of the other embodies relations of power is explored using Resident Evil 5 and using Stuart Hall's theories, namely, representation, binary oppositions, stereotypes and naturalization to conclude how representation of the other carries relations of power. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Representation is the act of portraying or depicting something (Merriam–Webster's Online Dictionary 2014)). According to Stuart Hall, it means using language to say something meaningful about, or to present for the second time, the world meaningfully to the other people (Hall, 1997: 259). Hall further states that there is a fixed connection between power–which he defines as the ability to control people or things, that can radiate from both dominant and the dominated (Hall, 1997: 261)–and representation. In conclusion, Hall's idea is that in the context of representation, the circularity of power is critical. In Resident Evil 5, a number of things such as the African continent and the people living in it are represented as the other from the 'normal' western society, which embodies relations of power in a sense that the power radiates from the 'normal' western society towards the subordinate other, which in this context is the African continent and its people. • 53. A Sweet Friendship Refreshes The Soul Analysis Proverbs 27.9 says "a sweet friendship refreshes the soul." My quote relates to the essay by saying friendship is something that refreshes the soul. When you are stressed, depressed or happy being with a friend can help cheer you up or maintain your happiness. The family will always be here for us and since you always see family you can get tired of seeing them. That's when friends come in, friends can be the people you count when you're tired of being around and doing stuff with family. I believe students should be allowed to spend more time with friends because we can get a break from parents, talk about anything, and be free from housework. One reason i believe students should be able to spend more time with friends on the weekend is because you need breaks from your parents . Parents can irritate you by coming in to your room every 30 min. telling you to clean up something. They also can ask you a plethora of questions asking about your friends and school life. Sometimes you simply don't want to talk about it. At first the song was only my favorite because it mentions my dads hometown, Muscle Shoals, and I just thought it was super neat. As I grew older my dad explained to me the meaning and the story of the song, and I only started to like it more. The song Sweet Home Alabama was written in the 1970's as a response to two songs written by Neil Young. The two songs written by Neil Young were Southern Man and Alabama, and the songs essentially bashed on the southern people for slowing down the progress of getting rid of segregation. So Lynyrd Skynyrd decided to write Sweet Home Alabama strictly as a response ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. Home Analysis : Home Sweet Home Fanhor Sanchez Patino Ryan Cerone Survey 4 Home Sweet Home For many home could be defined as the physical spaces we inhabit. However, for others home is defined in a deeper level that relates to the relationships we have or want to have with people. Home could be categorized in micro and macro levels. The micro level could reflect on the immediate situation in where we find ourselves such as the terrestrial space where we dwell in, the people we live with, etc. On the other hand, in the macro level home may perhaps refer to a broader idea of self that characterize us, such as the country we come from, the culture we were brought up in, etc. While the meaning of the word home is relative and based on personal opinions, architecture is a tool that could help us create an identity of what we consider home to be since it reflects physical, historical, and social conditions of the physical reality we live in. I live in the 7th floor of an apartment building with my family. Although this type of housing is quite common in this area, our home has some peculiar features that I have discovered recently. Because of its placement and small architectural cues this residence acts like a physical bookmark of a period in New York's history that I have only recently been able to register and appreciate thanks to my newfound architectural knowledge. New York is known for its skyscrapers; however, there is architectural diversity that does not only reflect major building projects, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 59. Why Women Have For Do Housework? Why Women Have to do the Housework? "Ngan, have you finished washing the dishes?" "Where are my socks?" "Have you not ironed my t– shirt? ''. These inquiries play again and again in my mind. I have always wondered why my brother does not have to do chores as much as I do. . I spend eight hours at work then come home to cook and clean. Although the second shift is familiar, the reasons that result in this issue is still what I am trying to discover. Firstly, there are stereotypes associated with each gender; both of which differs in various characteristics and personality traits. In her article, Tamra Cohen points out the initial characteristic of women is caring. Taking care of children is more appropriate than male due to this quality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also causes a concern all the housework claims on women because women are gifted at looking after. This explains why women always feel insecure, they try to protect and indulge while father tends to hard their children. On the other hand, the second trend appeared in the nineteenth century. The difference between male and female constitution forms all the housework is women jobs. According to Family.org, since the nineteenth century, men who are stronger performance their works in workshop while women who are gentler plays an important role at home. As men began to specialize in paid work, housework became increasingly linked to women. In the early nineteenth century, the ideology of separate spheres, associating men with the (public) workplace and women with the (private) home, became popular. According to this ideology, the home was viewed as pure, serene, and secure, as opposed to the impure, unsympathetic, and uncertain work world. Women, perceived as pious, virtuous, and submissive, became the rightful guardians of the domestic haven, even as their role in productive labor declined. Although more fantasy than reality, particularly in poor and working–class families, the "cult of true womanhood" linked women 's "nature" with the performance of family work. Therefore, a more accurate conclusion is that as the Industrial Revolution rules all the companies, people separate from home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A title search is a way to prove who is selling the property and if they really have the right to sell it. It's important for the buyer as it ensures and confirms what is being bought and HSH 5 sold. Performing the title search is a part of most real estate transactions. There are steps involved in a title search that examine the different pieces needed to prove ownership and allow for the sale of property. Steps of researching and verifying chain of title, taxes, possession reports, judgment, name searches and commitment are used to navigate the title search and verification. These steps are not involved in renting and therefor can act as another motivation in favor of buying with a sense of security instead of gambling on the landlords/companies' word that the property is theirs to offer. • 63. Film Analysis: Sweet Home Alabama One of my favorite movies of all time is Sweet Home Alabama. This movie came out in the early 2000s starring two of my favorite actors, Reese Witherspoon and Patrick Dempsey. Reese Witherspoon plays an up and rising fashion designer in New York, Melanie Carmichael. Melanie has the perfect life in New York with her career, friends, and boyfriend, Andrew, who happens to be the son of the mayor of New York. But when Andrew proposes to her, Melanie has to face the skeletons in her closet and her past that is awaiting her back down South. Melanie decides to take a quick trip down to her hometown, Greenville, Alabama, to convince her husband, who she hasn't seen in seven years, to sign the divorce papers that he keeps returning unsigned to her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The concept of geography and language is also displayed several times throughout this movie. At the beginning, Melanie and Andrew think that they have a lot in common, but as Melanie continues her stay in her hometown, she finds that they have more differences than she originally thought. The concept of geography and language is continuously displayed in the way that Andrew interacts with his friends and family and the way that Melanie interacts with her friends and family. The South has been portrayed for years and years as having southern hospitality. The people who live in the South have always had the stereotype of being warm, sweet, and welcoming to their visitors and those around them. When Andrew and his mother first meet Melanie's parents, Melanie's parents welcome Andrew and his mother with a warm hug and a loving attitude, which makes Andrew's mother extremely uncomfortable because, during this time especially, people in the North weren't portrayed as being as up close and personal as those in the South. Another more obvious difference between Melanie and Andrew regarding geography and language is their basic lifestyle views and beliefs. Andrew grew up in New York City with his mother who is highly involved in the Democratic Party, while Melanie grew up in the South where, during this time, the majority of the southern region had ... • 65. Is Sethe Justified In Sweet Home Generally speaking, readers are encouraged to respond to Sethe's actions like most other characters in the novel and deem her actions as disgusting and unforgivable. This is due to the fact that most characters, such as Stamp Paid and Paul D, feel that, "more important than what Sethe had done was what she claimed" (Morrison 193). This refers to the fact that Sethe justified her actions and did not necessarily feel that she had done anything wrong–in fact, she felt that her plan had worked out, as seen during her conversation with Paul D. However, the fact that she was seemingly oblivious to the inhumane actions she committed encourages readers to judge Sethe harshly in response to her actions. But, despite the overwhelming pressure to feel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result of this, the people she needs forgiveness from aren't her neighbors or the general public, but are rather Howard, Bulgar, and most importantly, Beloved herself. Despite sinning against society and everything motherhood should stand for, the most atrocious sin she committed was against her own children, which is why their forgiveness is the only one that truly matters. Furthermore, while certainly not being noble or courageous, Sethe's actions are indeed maternalistic–she chose to kill her children because it was the only way she felt she could protect them from the schoolteacher. In her argument with Paul D, Sethe contends that, as a mother, "It's my job to know what is and to keep them away from what I know is terrible" (Morrison 194), and she did just that. Sethe knew exactly what was in store for her children if they were to fall into the clutches of the schoolteacher, so, as their mother, she protected them from it because it was her duty as their mother to do so. However, in addition to being maternalistic, it can also be argued that Sethe's actions were instinctual and were not as planned out as they should have been, therefore coming across as rather animalistic and barbaric. • 67. Analysis Of The Movie ' Sweet Home Alabama ' The Southern portion of the United States ranging from the East Coast to Texas is commonly referred to as the South. Two different versions of this area exist. One is the true South that anyone who drives through states like Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi will see. The other South is a popularized depiction of this region. Hollywood has played a part in constructing this version of the South by creating countless movies that have depicted a stereotyped South fixated on the Antebellum Era. The 2002 movie "Sweet Home Alabama" poetries Southerners that are trying to preserve the way of life that existed before the Civil War. The main plot of the movie is that Melanie Carmichael, played by Reese Witherspoon, becomes engaged to the son of the mayor of New York City, but before they can get married she has to go to Alabama to finalize her divorce. During one part of the movie she reveals that her friend Bobby Ray is gay. A little further into the movie she goes to Bobby Ray's house to apologize. In this scene she is standing on the front porch of a giant white plantation house, and an African American women answers the door and tells her that Bobby Ray is in the backyard. Mel goes to the backyard where she finds Bobby Ray and his grandpa blowing anvils into the air. Bobby Ray's Grandpa is dressed as a Confederate soldier, and later in the clip it is revealed that the act of blowing the anvils into the air is related to the Civil War. Reflection On Vedi Vedi, its title taken from Mehta`s childhood nick name, is a rare powerful book with description of a very unusual childhood in the era of the past from the innocent fantastic eyes of a child. It opens a window to the working of the mind of a child–his fears, his traumas, his thinking, and his way of coping with the situation. The reader travels with Vedi to Dadar School for blind in Bombay and realizes (faces) the experiences of child from when he was almost five to the age of nine. He is a normal child despite his blindness. Though his prospects as a normal child were bleak, he had the fatalistic Indian attitude towards blindness. Unlike George orwell`s bitter memoir of his boarding school days, Vedi, the innocent ignorant child, accepts the terrible, monstrous events in his life with composure and surprisingly with a kind of gaiety. He is a high–spirited, strong willed, eager little boy. He is so intent on exercising his child`s prerogative of enjoyment that he seems almost unaware of the cruelty and difficult predicament. The situation is much worse than the child is able to comprehend. Blinded by meningitis before he was four, he faces a sudden change in his life. He is shifted from a ... The situation analysis is a systematic collection and evaluation of past and present economical, political, social, and technological data (Business Dictionary). This information is directed at the identification of internal and external forces that may influence the organization's performance and choice of strategies. Also, this analysis is an assessment of the organization's current and future strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. General Environment The component of business external environments, the general environment represents the forces that exist outside of the company that have the potential to indirectly affect it in some way. Although businesses cannot control what takes place within the general environment, evaluations of the general environment can allow businesses the opportunity to predict changes and also to identify future opportunities. The dimensions are grouped into seven environmental segments: demographics, economics, political/legal, sociocultural, technological, global, and physical (Hitt, Ireland, & Hoskisson, 2015). Demographic Trend The demographic segment is concerned with a population's size, age structure, geographic, distribution, ethnic mix, and income distribution. Demographic segments are commonly analyzed on a global basis because of their potential effects across countries' borders and because many firms compete in global markets (Hitt, et al., 2015). She mentions the kitchen having "a few yellow flowers" and "some myrtle" for decoration, while "bristle" and plants used to "make ink" serve more utilitarian purposes (Morrison 27). Clearly, the kitchen contains plant life that serves as both decor and utilities, but these plants primarily serve the masters of the house. The kitchen belongs to Mrs. Garner, so the decorations are for her. The slaves repeatedly mention being illiterate, so the ink only benefits those who can write, which is the Garners.
