I have worked for many years in the Steel Industry, with extensive Managerial/Supervisory
experience. I am a highly motivated, multi-skilled, honest, hardworking person with excellent
Fabrication, Mechanical, Safety Management skills. I am used to working within high pressure
environments ensuring given tasks, deadlines and requirements are completed safely and effectively
to timescales and deadlines without compromising performance.

This role involved managing a group of
Fabrication and Mechanical Team Leaders
carrying out the daily maintenance of the Steel
plant, utilising Platers, Welders, Fitters,
Pipefitters, Riggers and Cleaners, ensuring these
teams carry out their duties safely and effectively.
Ensuring Daily Permits to Work, Risk
assessments and SWP for all tasks carried out.
Also responsible for ensuring Safety Critical,
COMAH and routine inspections are carried out
on a specified basis as part of the SAP workflow
to ensure the plant operates not only safely but
also to its full potential. Also managing the
personnel, training, pay and discipline for the
work group. PICO responsibilities during planned
shutdown / outage periods.
Consultant Engineer

Working within Project Engineering team on main
start up programme for Steel plant. PICO for
large section Focusing mainly on ‘Loose Assets’,
fabrication designated items on BOS and
Concast plants. Also major fabrication tasks on
BOS Primary. Also the Scaffolding co-ordinator
for the Steel plant.
Key Achievements:
Managed Fabrication contracts with
external suppliers, maintaining / repairing
all items of plant beyond normal scope of
our teams.
Reduced the number of plant
breakdowns / stoppages to a minimum
by driving the supervisors to work to
highest standards, employing a
dedicated Welding QA to deliver quality
packs for guidance.
Represented the company on a number
of visits to suppliers in China, as part of a
multi million pound project to replace the
BOS Vessel Hood systems. Identifying
Scope of Supply, standards to conform to
EN, PED and CE marking etc.
Key Achievements:
Project completed successfully and Plant
returned to an operational state.

February 2010 – Jan 2011 (Part time)
Tasks included carrying out routine maintenance
tasks to the company’s buildings, i.e. small
repairs, cutting grass, painting and generally any
tasks within my skill capability. Working in the
community to improve the local area for
residents, i.e. taking part in ‘alleyway’
improvement programme. Caretaker duties within
the company’s Resource Centre, this includes
setting up of the various halls / meeting rooms for
the customers. General upkeep of the centre, i.e.
window cleaning, floor and room cleaning, roof
and gutter cleaning. There is also requirement to
drive the company’s vehicle, moving items as
required for others, also assisting others in
collection / delivery of items to further their work. I
was also the registered person for PAT testing of
the company’s electrical equipment.

Carried out primarily welding duties as part of the
maintenance team. Working generally in low
carbon steels, also some St.Steel, Cast iron, cast
steel. The work varied from materials 3thk up to
95thk. Plate and pipe work. Generally repairing
BOS vessels, Ladles, Oxygen Lances and all
other items on the steelplant. Most work was with
MMA, but also some TIG / MIG, proficient in Arc
Air gouging. I also carried out Plating and Burning
duties as required to progress the work as I was
proficient in both these areas.
