2. 1. Self-Confidence
Students who take Dramatic Arts are better equipped to assess difficult
situations and think outside the box. They also gain more confident
going into unfamiliar circumstances.

3. 2. Empathy
Students relate better to different situations, backgrounds, and cultures
because of dramatic arts. Dramatic arts curriculum is rooted in equity,
inclusion. and social justice. It teaches students to show compassion and
tolerance for others.

4. 3. Inclusion
Some students may not be skilled in the core curriculum areas, such
as Math and Science. However, they may be outstanding actors or
directors. Dramatic Arts is for everyone; all students can shine in
the subject area. Most importantly, everyone can learn and do the
important elements of Drama that is taught. Creativity is the key!

5. 4. Teamwork
Dramatic arts teaches a very important skill – Teamwork. There is an
interdependence of cast and crew that is hard to replicate in any other
school settings. To put on one show, everyone must work together (e.g.,
actors, light crew, sound crew etc). The skill of teamwork that is taught
in dramatic arts will also come into good use in other subject areas, such
as physical education and mathematics.

6. 5. Improved Literacy
In Dramatic Arts, students will become better writers and therefore
increase their literacy, through activities like script writing and
creative writing exercises. Furthermore, they will expand their
vocabulary and begin to use their body to express themselves. More
importantly, they will learn how to memorize things (learning lines
requires practice, determination and advanced memory skills),
which could be helpful during tests and exams..
