Content Analysis :
I am the people, the mob is a poem by Carl Sandburg which is a
revolutionary invocation of the latent powers of the people. The
poem puts across the idea that all human achievements are the
fruit of man’s labour. The poet asserts that every individual is an
inevitable part of the people by the use of the first person “I”
instead of the third person “they”. Humans play multiple roles
such as working man, inventor, and maker of world’s food and
clothes in order to improve the living conditions of the mankind.

Teacher engages in an informal talk with
pupils to create rapport.

Group Activity:
Teacher asks the students to form four
groups and gives each group a picture.
The students are asked to analyze the
picture in groups and to share their ideas
regarding the pictures. A member in each
group writes down the ideas of the group
members, regarding their picture and
another member organizes the ideas and
communicate it to the whole class.
Link talk:
After allowing the students to construct
their ideas,the teacher now guides the
students to the topic by asking a few
questions regarding the pictures
1) Who are represented in the picture?
2) How are they represented?
3) What are they doing?
4) Find out similar picture from our
textbook?
Explanation:
The paintings that we saw today are called
Warli paintings. Warlis /varlis are an Indian
scheduled tribe. They are mainly found in
the districts of Maharashtra, Gujarat,
Taluks of Thane, Nasik, Union Territories
of Daman and Diu. They speak Varli, an
unwritten language which mingles Sanskrit,
Marathi, Guajarati words. The term “Warli”
is derived from “warla” which means a
piece of land or field. Warli paintings are
composed of circles, triangles and
squares.Circles are derived from sun and
moon. Triangle from mountains and
pointed trees and Square from piece of
land.
Introducing the lesson:
Tr: The warli painting in our textbook
represents human toil right?The warli
painting is a clue to the theme of the poem
“I am the People ,The Mob”, by Carl
Sandburg. Yes you guessed it right the
poem deals with the hard work and
achievements of mankind.
Presentation of the poem :
Teacher recites the first three lines of the
poem with proper stress ,intonation ,clarity
and expression.
Recitation by students :
A few students are made to recite the
poem. The teacher corrects them if the
make mistakes in pronunciation.
Discover and learn:
Students are encouraged to find the
meanings of new words from either
glossary or the hints and clues provided by
the teacher.
Sharing ideas:
The students are asked to volunteer to
share their ideas regarding the lines.
Shaping of ideas:
The teacher shapes the students ideas by
adding unshared ideas.
Question Hour:
Students are encouraged to raise
questions which can be answered either by
the teacher or the other students
Assignment:
prepare a write-up on one human achievement that has
impressed you

Name of the teacher : PRIMA MOL K P Standard: 9 Name of the school : Strength: Subject : English Date : Duration: 45 min Topic : I am the people, the mob (poem, Unit : 3, Tales of Toil issue : Lack of Human Resource Development Sub Issue : Dignity of Labour Content Analysis : I am the people, the mob is a poem by Carl Sandburg which is a revolutionary invocation of the latent powers of the people. The poem puts across the idea that all human achievements are the fruit of man’s labour. The poet asserts that every individual is an inevitable part of the people by the use of the first person “I” instead of the third person “they”. Humans play multiple roles such as working man, inventor, and maker of world’s food and clothes in order to improve the living conditions of the mankind. Curricular Statement : The learner 1) grasps the mood of the poem 2) listens with attentive comprehension 3) recites the poem with clarity , expression and rhythm

Explanation: The paintings that we saw today are called Warli paintings. Warlis /varlis are an Indian scheduled tribe. They are mainly found in the districts of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Taluks of Thane, Nasik, Union Territories of Daman and Diu. They speak Varli, an unwritten language which mingles Sanskrit, Marathi, Guajarati words. The term “Warli” is derived from “warla” which means a piece of land or field. Warli paintings are composed of circles, triangles and squares.Circles are derived from sun and moon. Triangle from mountains and pointed trees and Square from piece of land. Introducing the lesson: Tr: The warli painting in our textbook represents human toil right?The warli painting is a clue to the theme of the poem
  • 5. “I am the People ,The Mob”, by Carl Sandburg. Yes you guessed it right the poem deals with the hard work and achievements of mankind. Presentation of the poem : Teacher recites the first three lines of the poem with proper stress ,intonation ,clarity and expression. Recitation by students : A few students are made to recite the poem. The teacher corrects them if the make mistakes in pronunciation. Discover and learn: Students are encouraged to find the meanings of new words from either glossary or the hints and clues provided by the teacher. Sharing ideas: The students are asked to volunteer to share their ideas regarding the lines. Shaping of ideas: The teacher shapes the students ideas by adding unshared ideas. Question Hour: Students are encouraged to raise questions which can be answered either by the teacher or the other students
