Collaborative learning is a method of teaching in
which students/ pupils team together to explore a
significant question or create a meaningful project.
A group of learners discussing a lecture or students
from different schools working together over the
internet on a shared assignments.
Collaborative learning is a teaching style that has
evolved over years and is still evolving.
AIMS:
First, to develop resources that empower learners by
encouraging them to work with every other learner
in the class in a playful, but purposeful way. Nurture
emotional and social development and make learners
confident in sharing what they know.
Second, to make complex ideas accessible by
presenting them in concrete, visual and tactile
ways. By taking abstract thinking out of the heads
and putting it on the table.
By breaking ideas down and presenting them as case
students with lots of detail and examples.
Third, to encourage exploratory talk in the classroom.
There is an increasing evidence that talk and thinking
together will develop new meaning. There is an
evidence that talk has been neglected in our
classrooms and this has widened the gap in
attainment. Talk is good for learners and vital for
children learning a new language while they are
learning.
Concept of Collaborative Learning
The concept of collaborative learning , the grouping and pairing of learners
for the purpose of achieving a learning goal has been widely research
and advocate .
The term collaborative learning refers to an instruction method in which
learners of various performance levels work together in small groups
toward a common goal. The learners are responsible for one another ‘s
learning as well as their own. Thus, the success of one learner helps
other students to be successful.
Collaborative learning is a relationship among learners that requires
positive interdependence ( a sense of sink or swim together), individual
accountability (each of us has to contribute and learn), interpersonal
skills ( communication, trust, leadership, decision making, and conflict
resolution), face to face promote interaction, and processing ( reflecting
on how well the team is functioning and how to function even better.
Collaborative learning is an educational approach to
teaching and learning that involves groups of learners
working together to solve a problem, complete a task,
create a product. It is based on the idea that learning is
naturally social act in which the participants talk among
themselves. It is through the talk of the learning occurs.
Approaches of Collaborative learning
1. Learning is an active process whereby learners assimilate the information and relate this
new knowledge to a framework of prior knowledge.
2. Learning requires a challenge that opens the door for the learner to actively engage his/
her peers, and to process and synthesize information rather than simply memorize and
regurgitate it.
3. Learners benefits when exposed to diverse viewpoints from people with varied
backgrounds.
4. Learning flourishes in a social environment where conversation between learners takes
place.
5. Learners are challenged both socially and emotionally as they listen to different
perspectives, and are required to articulate and defend their ideas. In so doing, the
learners begin to create their own unique conceptual frameworks and not rely solely
on an expert’s or a text’s framework.
Collaborative learning setting, learners have the
opportunity to converse with peers, present and
defend ideas, exchange diverse beliefs, question
other conceptual frameworks, and be actively
engaged

Collaborative

  • 1. Collaborative learning is a method of teaching in which students/ pupils team together to explore a significant question or create a meaningful project. A group of learners discussing a lecture or students from different schools working together over the internet on a shared assignments.
  • 2. Collaborative learning is a teaching style that has evolved over years and is still evolving. AIMS: First, to develop resources that empower learners by encouraging them to work with every other learner in the class in a playful, but purposeful way. Nurture emotional and social development and make learners confident in sharing what they know.
  • 3. Second, to make complex ideas accessible by presenting them in concrete, visual and tactile ways. By taking abstract thinking out of the heads and putting it on the table. By breaking ideas down and presenting them as case students with lots of detail and examples.
  • 4. Third, to encourage exploratory talk in the classroom. There is an increasing evidence that talk and thinking together will develop new meaning. There is an evidence that talk has been neglected in our classrooms and this has widened the gap in attainment. Talk is good for learners and vital for children learning a new language while they are learning.
  • 5. Concept of Collaborative Learning The concept of collaborative learning , the grouping and pairing of learners for the purpose of achieving a learning goal has been widely research and advocate . The term collaborative learning refers to an instruction method in which learners of various performance levels work together in small groups toward a common goal. The learners are responsible for one another ‘s learning as well as their own. Thus, the success of one learner helps other students to be successful. Collaborative learning is a relationship among learners that requires positive interdependence ( a sense of sink or swim together), individual accountability (each of us has to contribute and learn), interpersonal skills ( communication, trust, leadership, decision making, and conflict resolution), face to face promote interaction, and processing ( reflecting on how well the team is functioning and how to function even better.
  • 6. Collaborative learning is an educational approach to teaching and learning that involves groups of learners working together to solve a problem, complete a task, create a product. It is based on the idea that learning is naturally social act in which the participants talk among themselves. It is through the talk of the learning occurs.
  • 7. Approaches of Collaborative learning 1. Learning is an active process whereby learners assimilate the information and relate this new knowledge to a framework of prior knowledge. 2. Learning requires a challenge that opens the door for the learner to actively engage his/ her peers, and to process and synthesize information rather than simply memorize and regurgitate it. 3. Learners benefits when exposed to diverse viewpoints from people with varied backgrounds. 4. Learning flourishes in a social environment where conversation between learners takes place. 5. Learners are challenged both socially and emotionally as they listen to different perspectives, and are required to articulate and defend their ideas. In so doing, the learners begin to create their own unique conceptual frameworks and not rely solely on an expert’s or a text’s framework.
