A Balanced System Of The Republican Party And The...
Tiffany Edwards
While democracy, to be a balanced system, should be two or more parties who hold different beliefs, the Republican Party and the Democratic Party
have a long history of feuding when it comes to debating the major issues. The biggest issues that continue to be ongoing debates between the parties
are education, tax reform, immigration, national debt, healthcare and abortion. Republicans tend to lean more toward the freedoms, rights and
responsibilities of the individual and the democrats lean more toward American equality and social responsibility. Due to the differences in core
beliefs between the two groups, it is uncertain that the two parties will ever be able to see eye to eye. When it comes to education the Democrats
believe that the public school system should be supported. The democrats support the "No Child Left Behind" initiative and, when necessary, to close
consistently failing schools that refuse help to make way for new schools with new approaches. Although in 2012 even Democrat, US Rep George
Miller agrees that this program needs a rewrite. He stated, "We have learned a lot since the law's enactment. Thanks to NCLB, the evidence is
irrefutable that all kids can learn if given an opportunity to succeed, regardless of their zip code or income. However, the law 's reforms are now
outdated. It is now restraining schools from making the kinds of improvements needed to benefit students, communities and the economy." ("Miller

The Jacksonian Democratic Party
When George Henry Evans cited the unalienable rights of the Declaration of Independence and that, "'to secure these rights' against the undue influence
of other classes of society, prudence... dictates the necessity of the organization of a party, who shall...prevent dangerous combinations to subvert these
indefeasible and fundamental privileges", he called for a party to become the sentinel of the original American democracy. And for many, the Jacksonian
Democratic Party filled that role. The Democrats, who pursued a democracy that entailed economic and social independence for the common citizen,
faced harsh opposition from the Whig Party in the Second American Party System. But apart from the political tensions of the era, the mid–1800's ...

But Daniel Webster's response postulates that the veto message "sows...the seeds of jealousy and ill–will against the government of which its author is
the official head" and that it "puts forth claims to powers heretofore unknown and unheard of". However, given the vast amount of influence the
government had in the bank, the President would have had equally vast power. Additionally, these "powers heretofore unknown and unheard of" must
also apply to the establishment of a National Bank, which on several occasions has been accused of being a grossly unconstitutional use of federal
power. Therefore, Jackson's actions indeed represented honorable goals of economic equality. In the same vein, the Charles River Bridge vs. Warren
Bridge Supreme Court Case highlighted the benefits of laissez–faire economics, a fundamental principle of the Democrats. Chief Justice Roger B.
Taney's declared that, "while the rights of private property are sacredly guarded, we must not forget, that the community also have rights, and that the
happiness and well–being of every citizen depends on their faithful preservation", justifying limited government intrusion in the

Contrasting the Republican and Democratic Parties
The Democratic and Republican parties of the United States are vastly different and have a long history of discord to prove it. Their opposing
legislation and various conflicting ideals have them performing in government at opposite ends of the spectrum. Therefore, contrasting their views on
taxation, the economy, and gun control will provide numerous examples as to why these two parties are so different.
When it comes to the issue of taxation, the Republican and Democratic stances could not be more different. The Democratic Party advocates for higher
taxes for the upper class while the Republicans prefer a flat tax for everyone ("Democrat vs. Republican"). Democrats want a tax plan that doesn't ...

Although in the wake of recent events, including the Las Vegas shooting, more Republicans are supporting stricter laws (for example the banning of
bump stocks), the majority of the Republican Party still are strong advocates for a citizen's right to own weapons and conceal carry. "We oppose
federal licensing of law–abiding gun owners and national gun registration as a violation of the Second Amendment and an invasion of privacy of
honest citizens" (Republican Party on Gun Control). A reported 83% of polled Republicans support the NRA's, or National Rifle Association's,
views; 80% of Democrats disagree with the NRA and their vision (Guns). This could be due to the fact that each party targets specific groups. For
example, Republicans make up a majority of the South as the recent Trump campaign was driven by middle–class white males (Magleby, David). This
makes sense, because Republican states are statistically more likely to own a gun. In contrast, the Democratic Party thinks that while they agree that it
is a citizen's right to own a firearm, there should be more strict legislation that prevents criminals, people suffering from mental illnesses, and unfit
individuals from owning a gun. Most Democrats agree that the only way to decrease gun related violence is through the

The Democratic Party
The Democratic Party was formed in 1792. Its name was adopted in the 1830s during Jackson's presidency. It is the "world's oldest existing political
party" (Democratic Party). The Northern and Southern Democrats had issues dealing with slavery, which caused them to split in 1860. According to
the "Democratic Party", the Southern Democrats wanted to protect "slavery in all the territories while many Northern Democrats resisted." The party
was also known as the "white man 's party" and demonized the Republican Party as being "Negro dominated," even though whites were in control" (
Democratic Party). The party's platform deals with a lot of controversial topics. For example, abortion. Democrats believe "Abortion rights are
"fundamental constitutional liberty" and abortion should be available regardless of a woman's ability to pay" (ABC News). They believe that
abortion is completely up to the parents of the child. Another example is education. They want "affordable preschool for all children, higher teacher
salaries, higher standards for teachers, students and states, triple number of charter schools, [and] let more parents choose from among public
schools" (ABC News). In 2015, "the President announced a landmark proposal to make community college free to anyone who is willing to work for
it" (@TheDemocrats). They want to make it easier for children attending school and allow teachers to earn a better salary. Another issue is gay rights.
The Democrats are all for them. They

The Democratic Party And Jacksonian Democracy
Political parties are formed when voters have different ideology regarding government, economics, and politics. The Second Party System emerged
after the Democratic and Whig parties came to power in America. The development of this party system was prompted by the clashing philosophies
about individual rights, government control, and land acquisition. Despite both parties being equally prevalent in America, the Democratic Party
flourished and was drastically much more successful than the Whig Party at impacting the nation. Between 1824 and 1828, with the support of Andrew
Jackson, the Democratic Party was born. The beginning of this new Democratic era was known as "Jacksonian Democracy" because it was led by

The Whigs coined their name from the 18th century word used to describe American and British opponents of tyranny. They called themselves this
because they believed that Jackson abused his presidential veto and turned into a tyrant. The majority of the Whig party consisted of highly skilled
workers, successful business owners, and manufacturers that lived in New England and the Upper Midwest. The Whig Party favored government
support in economic and social affairs. The Whigs believed that government influence promoted the growth and success of the economy. For this
reason, the Whigs favored the spread of banks, passing of tariffs, and new transportation projects. The Whigs also believed that they could promote
social progress by allowing the government to have control of society through regulations and reforms such as the prohibition of alcohol and the
prohibition of business activities on Sundays. The Whigs also aimed to make society better through the building of hospitals, insane–asylums, and
public schools. Whig philosophies revolved around strengthening the economy and creating a progressive society.
Despite having a strong presence in America, the Whig Party's influence on the government and economy never surpassed the impact of the Democratic
Party. Throughout most of the presidencies during the 19th century, the Democrats dominated the campaign. The Democrats executed many of their
aspirations leaving a long–lasting

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
Every four years, the United States' citizens elect a new president. The election is held in November, but campaigning starts almost a whole year
before the election month. Candidates compete on a daily basis for the one position some people only dream of holding. With this election on the
horizon, voters need to take time to understand who the contenders are and what their main objects will be once they arrive in office.
In politics today, two parties exist; the democrat party and the republican party. Out of the pair of organizations, thedemocratic party remains as the
world's oldest political party. It was first founded in the year 1828 by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. The Jeffersonian Republican or

They consisted of former Whig party supporters, abolitionists, and people who believed in the modernizing of the country. Their basic belief followed
the ways of conservatism. Conservatism means that people believed in the rule of anti–communism, and also believed that the American traditions are
the way the government should be ran along with Protestant values. Each party is represented by an animal and also a color; red elephants for
republicans and blue donkeys for democrats.
When looking at the economy today, it is rather on a plateau. A few years ago, the economy was heading in the wrong direction, but after current
president Barack Obama was elected into office, he managed to sign many bills into effect which in turn helped bring our economy back up. Illegal
immigration into the country has sky rocketed in the past ten years. The number of illegal immigrants flowing into the country is approximately
seven hundred thousand each year. Personally, I believe that this number is entirely too high. The United States has a specific law about illegal
aliens and how they must have a piece of paper called a green card in order to live in this country as an immigrant. These people of course are not
considered citizens because they were not born in America, which is primarily the reason behind the law. Along with these issues, I also believe that
the military and our veterans are treated with disrespect. Currently, we have been involved in

The Democratic Party: Oldest Political Parties In The Nation
The Democratic Party is one of the oldest political parties in the nation. During this time many things began to change, like the social, economic and
as well as the political part. It was a time when President Jackson became the seventh president. "As President Jackson alienated some of his intimal
supporters who would join the opposition to him, but his actions cemented the loyalty of far more of his initial voters as well as many others"
(Michael F. Holt). During this period politics were trying to change things for the better but it still was hard for some people. White males that were
upper class were only the ones that basically had rights to be able to do anything. But after President Jackson became president all white males could

It still had to take time for things to change and also for time to change before women and black women and men to be able to do so but this was the
first period when things did start to change. In this time, all whites were not equal but it was changing because of President Jackson. The platform
states, "Our vision is simple. We want an America that gives all Americans the chance to live out their dreams and achieve their God
–given potential.
We want an America that is still the world's strongest force for peace and freedom. And we want an America that is coming together around our
enduring values, instead of drifting apart." (Republicanviews, 2015) One of the strongest beliefs of the Democratic Party is that of equality on all fronts.
President Jackson had changed the way people saw the things in the 1800's Jackson's election marked a new direction in American politics. During
Jackson's presidency, Jackson himself had served in the American Revolution, its values helped form his sense of the world. American life had to

The Political Party At The Democratic Party
Internet Assignment
Political Party Research:
1.I am attracted to the Democratic Party. I took the political party quiz and answered the questions as honestly as I could. I found the questions to be
very interesting and versatile. After viewing my results I looked into The Green Party some more. I am basically an environmentalist and believe
taxes are affecting the lower classes and something needs to be done about it. I agreed with all of these issues.
2.The top 5 issues are jobs, families, health, education and infrastructure. These have been goals of the Democratic Party for many years. I believe
these are interesting goals and also ones I believe have issues. There's plenty of room for improvement when it comes to securing family funds, giving
jobs to everyone who qualifies for them, and improving the education we give to our young citizens.
3.When it comes to jobs, the Democratic Party has worked with President Obama to stabilize the financial system and help prevent a second degree
depression. Since the recession 15 million private sector jobs have become available and the unemployment rate has dropped 5% for the first time in
the last decade. The Democratic Party has also helped expand public options when it comes to education. They decided they were going to pay
teachers like any other professional and thought about rebuilding schools. They also hired 100,000 more teachers to reduce class sizes and provide
students with a better way of learning. They have fought

The Democratic Party is a party that stemmed from the Democratic–Republican Party, or the Jeffersonian Republican Party. "Democrats have led the
fight for civil rights, Social Security, workers' rights, voting rights, veteran's rights, health care, equality, immigration reform, and women's rights."
Since 1848, this has been the mindset of the state of Texas. Also in 1848, Texas took part in its first presidential election. The state of Texas has
voted Democratic every year except for in 1928 when citizens did not agree with the nominee, Al Smith. Texas officially became a state in 1845. The
turning point of Texas began in 1980 when the state started to lean toward the Republican side of things. "In 1980, Texas sided with the Republicans....

"Texas Gov. Rick Perry has spent years on the political stage. During that time, not only has he consistently opposed LGBT equality, but he's used his
opposition to LGBT rights as a campaign issue against other candidates." "Perry supported a ballot measure to ban same–sex marriage in Texas,
supports a federal constitutional amendment banning same–sex marriage nationwide, and has attacked judges who have ruled against same–sex
marriage bans. He even defied a Department of Defense rule that would have granted LGBT service members access to domestic partner benefits."
Living with a governor for 15 years that has been so adamant against the equality of same sex relationships, how can our state change for the better?
Even our current governor, Greg Abott is against same sex marriage. He believes the ruling goes against the religious beliefs of Texans and has been
against it since it was passed. "The Supreme Court has abandoned its role as an impartial judicial arbiter and has become an unelected nine–member
legislature. Five Justices on the Supreme Court have imposed on the entire country their personal views on an issue that the Constitution and the
Court's previous decisions reserve to the people of the States. Despite the Supreme Court's rulings, Texans' fundamental right to religious liberty
remains protected. No Texan is required by the Supreme Court's decision to act contrary to his or her religious beliefs regarding marriage. The Texas
Constitution guarantees that no human authority ought, in any case whatsoever, to control or interfere with the rights of conscience in matters of
religion. The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion; and the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration Act,

Sanders tops Clinton 2–to–1 in county

Lincoln County voters gave U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders double the support of former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in presidential voting during
the Democratic caucus on Sunday, March 6.
Sanders will receive 59 of the county's delegates to the state convention to 29 for Clinton, according to partial results from the Maine Democratic Party.
Delegates to the state convention will select 25 or Maine's 30 delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. The other five are
pre–selected "superdelegates."

Local politics were also on the agenda, with party officials recruiting volunteers to sit on town and county committees and work as ballot clerks, and
candidates for county and state office collecting signatures and making speeches.
State Sen. Chris Johnson, D–Somerville, represents all of Lincoln County except Dresden, plus Washington and Windsor.
"We are the line of protection against the kind of mayhem and demolition of the functioning of state government that Gov. LePage is working on, but
we need to do more than just protect against harm," Johnson said. "We need majorities strong enough that getting just a few Republicans to join us
will enable us to do good, to build on Maine's strengths and our natural advantages and to create opportunities for all people to live a good life, not just
the wealthiest few."
The caucus did have some issues, with long lines to fill out registration forms and a shortage of parking at some locations.
The high turnout across the state – voters reportedly waited in line as long as four hours in Portland – led Maine Senate Minority Leader Justin Alfond,
D–Portland, to introduce a bill that would replace the caucuses with a primary

Democratic Party Platform Analysis
Comparing my issues to the original of the Democratic Party Platform, mine will contain less vigorous action from the government and more from
the people. Although our ideas are similar, they do tend to align most of the time correctly. We both believe it is a mother's decision if she wishes to
abort a child or not. We as a nation should encourage workers to maintain their jobs as long as possible, making it easier for the company plus the
family. Now moving on, I believe my ideas diverge from the Democratic Party in a sense, that we each want things done a different way. My thoughts
for the district have more to do with critical thinking rather than just thinking about profit. The Democratic Party believes in rule and law, and I just feel

for families to be allowed to use their IRA's for first time home purchases, medical emergencies, and paying for a college education. ("Party Stresses

In 1992, education was another issue which Democrats and Republicans differed on. Bill Clinton called for "...an aggressive program of school
reform" ("Second Presidential Debate, 1992"). The Republicans, on the other hand, called for a choice between public, private, and religious school
to be given to parent. They would do this with the G.I. Bill for children, giving middle to low income households $1000 to choose the private, public,
or religious school of their choice ("Second Presidential Debate, 1992").
Four years later, in the 1996 presidential election, differences on domestic issues surfaced again. TheDemocratic Party called for a balanced budget by

The Jacksonian Democratic Party And The Whig Party
The Jacksonian Democratic Party and the Whig Party each, exemplified different beliefs on the role of the federal government in the economy and
towards westward expansion in the 1830s and 1840s. However, the Jacksonian, laissez faire supporting Democrats and the economic nationalistic
Whig party shared almost no beliefs except for the removal of American Indians in the areas their supporters wished to settle. The lack of similarities
is because the Whigs formed their own party to oppose President Jackson's strong–armed leadership style and policies which earned him the nickname
"King Andrew." The JacksonianDemocratic Party evolved out of the Democratic–Republican Party in the early 1800s, the core of its membership was
composed of farmers, immigrants, and white Southerners. The Whigs formed in 1834 and lasted for 20 years, they were the major political party that
opposed Andrew Jackson. The Whigs were created based upon the Federalist beliefs in a strong federal government and adopted many Federalist and
National Republican policy ideas, including federal funding for internal improvements, a central bank, and high tariffs to protect the growth of
manufacturing enterprises. Overall, the Jacksonian Democratic agrarian Party and the industrialization supporting Whig Party had different beliefs

The Republican Party later received the nickname, The Grand Ole Party. This nickname started after the end of the Civil War because the Republicans

disagreed on most issues still to this day.
The Democratic Party was founded in 1792, a few decades before the first Republican Party meeting. "The party can trace its roots all the way back
to Thomas Jefferson when they were known as Jefferson's Republicans and they strongly opposed the Federalist Party and their nationalist views,"
(Eleanor). They were first called Republicans, and later changed their name to the Democratic Party. "It adopted its present name during the
Presidency of Andrew Jackson in the 1830s," (PBS). This party was created and changed its name before the Republican Party even existed. The
Democratic Party is the oldest political party in the history of the entire world. Thomas Jefferson and James Madison are responsible for founding the
Democratic Party, when it originally had a different name. Since that time there has been fifteen Democratic presidents starting with Thomas Jefferson
and ending with Barack Obama.

the woman having the unbelievably dangerous procedure dies. The Roe v. Wade case, Supreme Court thought out a legal balance between the
rights of women and also the rights of the developing fetuses. A couple of these legal balances; Before a fetus can live outside the womb, which is
the 1st and 2nd trimester, or 6 months, women have a right to choose whether to abort or not, and after a fetus is viable, states may prohibit all
abortions, as long as they make exceptions where a woman 's life or health are in danger (). In some nations early abortion is legal where certain
religions predominate. Democrats respect the views of others who believe it is immoral and is very over to debate over the issue.

political parties are known as the Republican Party, commonly known as the Grand Old Party, and theDemocratic Party. Each party has a symbol of

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
Two political parties have dominated the United States: the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. The term "Third party" is used in the United
States to describe any political party besides the well–known Republican and Democratic parties. Examples of third parties include the Libertarian
Party, The Green Party, and the Constitutional Party. Unfortunately, these third parties have a hard time gaining political representation at the federal
level. The historic route Democrats and Republicans trace back in the United States, the systematic influence of the Electoral College, financial
contributions, and lack of media coverage all give a substantial reason as to why the newer third parties that emerged in the years after the major
political parties have a hard time gaining political representation at the federal level. Third parties in the United States have represented social and
economic interests that the two major political parties failed to give voice to. These particular parties for example some include the Green party,

A prime example of this is the party's strong support of abortion. Without the basis that all life has value because it is created by God, the liberal
view struggles to find value in the life of the unborn child. The legitimacy of homosexual relationships and other points of LGBT interest also differ
greatly from the word of God. Throughout the Bible, it is evident contradiction to God's plan of traditional marriage and natural bodily function is
considered a sin. The rejection of God has also influenced the party on a global scale. Left–leaning citizens who do not believe in God often look to the
government as their source of prosperity and sustenance. As a result, the ultimate goal of liberalism is a globalist utopia with complete tolerance and
peace between all nations. However, the Bible states that man is fallen, so with flawed leadership and flawed citizens, a utopia could not exist.
Despite the now progressive, liberal beliefs the party now holds, the Democratic party has possessed opposite opinions on almost every issue since its
creation. This remarkable fact not only displays the rapidly changing world of politics, but also reflects the fluid nature of the stances Democrats have
taken throughout the party's

America is considered as a global superpower, and has a critical role to play in the global socioeconomic and political landscape. Critical examination
of US presidential elections show that they draw widespread attention from across the globe. In many instances, the major political parties differ
significantly on policies, a prospect that may work to the advantage or the disadvantage of the candidate for Democratic Party of the Republican Party.
After months of the long bruising primaries, the GOP conducted its convention in Cleveland while the democratic sect held their convention in
Philadelphia. The speeches delivered in the two conventions had significant policy differences which are likely to influence voting ... Show more

3). Trump further pointed out that large fractions of the US annual budgets are set aside to finance the international economic obligations of the
country. As such, the Republicans pointed out that cutting such parts of the budget would help to boost the American economy and to reduce budget
deficits.
Further, the sect outlined that the allies of America will have to pay if the country is to offer military assistance and other services. Through this
strategic approach, the republicans equally believed that returning American troops home and abandoning international missions would help save
revenues that, in their view, are wasted on programs that do not directly benefit the American people. Ideally, the Republicans exhibited belief that
continued involvement of America in international aids and assistive missions would affect the economy negatively, and would make America
vulnerable in the global market (Smith 3). On debt, Donald Trump recounted his experience as a business mogul to be a value that will help him
overcome the economic barriers and ensure that the country does not accumulate debts.
Another fundamental subject that was explored in the Republican convention was trade between America and the international community. The
Republican Party noted that America was getting raw deals in many instances. They cited the case of trade between America and china in which the

that is in the national interest. On healthcare they opposed Obamacare because they believe that private companies should provide healthcare in the
free market. The Republican party believe if the government runs or get tangled with the healthcare system it will decrease the proficiency and the
standard of care the healthcare system can provide. They also believe it will compromise the relationship between the patient and doctor which will

Comparing the Democratic and Republican Parties Essay
Comparing the Democratic and Republican Parties Ralph Nader campaigned for the 2001 Presidency by arguing that there are no real differences
between the two major parties. In a broad sense, that statement might seem true. Major political parties play a majoritarian role in an otherwise
pluralistic democracy in the United States. They are both majoritarian institutions trying to win control of the government. The differences between the
parties lie in each party's beliefs about the purpose and scope of government. The United States is a government run by the people and for the people.
The whole population may participate in governing through the device of having a much smaller number of people act on their behalf. In a pluralistic...

All governments require people to surrender some freedom as a part of being governed and people can justify surrending some freedom to this
control in order to obtain the benefits of government. Government has always served two major purposes: maintaining order, which is preserving
life and protecting property, and providing public goods, such as highways, state parks, etc. Recently, government has pursued a third purpose:
promoting equality. In the United States, the government's fundamental issues are often defined as freedom, order and equality. How it decides to
promote those fundamental issues and how it chooses the proper mix of freedom, order and equality in its policymaking has to do with the process
of choice. Freedom means different things to different people at different times, depending on what political context is being used. The two major
senses of freedom are: freedom of and freedom from. Freedom of means freedom to do something. It is the lack of constraints on behavior. Freedom
from means immunity from discrimination and it comes close to the concept of equality. Order is viewed in one sense as preserving life and
protecting property. Few people would argue the need for order. However, order viewed in broader senses refers to established patterns of authority in
society and to traditional modes of behavior, such as how students should dress in school (neatly and without outrageous hair colors) and what the press

My fellow people, it has come to my attention that candidate Andrew Jackson was cheated from his 1824 electoral victory. Although Jackson received
majority of the votes, opposing candidate, John Quincy Adams, ripped him from his title when the ultimate outcome laid on the hands of the House of
Representatives. New York senator, Martin Van Buren, has worked hard to establish a political apparatus for theDemocratic Party. This machine will
grant many benefits such as, opening up job opportunities to citizens and ensuring voters to go to the polls on the forthcoming election. We should

American Politics: The Democratic and Republican Parties
Today whenever you turn on the television, read a newspaper, or scroll through social media, you are bound to witness the same one thing– election
season. This year of 2016 brings the time for Americans to elect a new President for theUnited States of America. While every American certainly has
their own opinion on who is the best fit for the presidency spot, one thing is for certain; the elected president will either be of the Democrat Party or
the Republican Party. The Democrat and Republican parties are the two largest political parties of the United States, and between the two of them,
have won every presidential election since 1852. While Republican and Democrat parties do share similar goals, it is quite minor when compared to
the substantial amount of differences between the two parties' ideology pertaining to economic, domestic, foreign, and social issues. It is very
important that one is informed of the differences as well as the similarities, of the two political parties, in order to make an educated choice come
election time, when choosing the party and candidate that best represents your beliefs.
Although the Democrat and Republican parties are complete rivals of each other, there are some notable similarities between the two parties. For

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
For centuries, two main political parties, the Democratic Party, and the Republican Party, have divided the United States government. The Democrats
are considered the liberal political party and can trace its roots all the way back to Thomas Jefferson when they were known as Jefferson's
Republicans and they strongly opposed the Federalist Party and their nationalist views. Republicans are considered the conservative political party and
try to uphold more traditional values. The Republican Party came into existence just prior to the Civil War due to their long–time stance in favor of the
abolition of slavery. In 1860, they became an established political party when their nominee Abraham Lincoln was elected as President of the United
States. Since their inception, the Republican and Democratic Party have had many disputes about policies. One of these major debates has focused on
educational funding in the United States. The parties have different views on the education system of the country, but both agree there needs a change
in some way. Democrats favor more progressive approaches to education, such as implementing the Common Core System, while Republicans tend to
favor more conservative changes such as longer hours and more focused programs to better educational resources. In Virginia, Republicans from 1990
to 2013 worked to provide better educational funding more prominently than Democrats. Starting in the 1990s, the Virginia education system

Political Parties And Democratic Parties
The political party is an organization of people who share similar ideas about the way the country should be governed. Political parties perform
important tasks in government. In fact, "political parties select candidates and check the other party. Political parties also inform the public. Most
importantly, they organize the government" (Political Parties, n.d.). The history of U.S political parties begins with the Federalists and their opponents
the Anti–Federalists who became the Democratic–Republicans. Two major political parties in the United States today, however, are Democrats and
Republicans. The U.S is one of the very few countries with only two dominant parties and there is so much attention focused on only two parties in
the United State. Why Only Two Parties (n.d) explained that the two party system in the U.S is largely due to what is called plurality voting in
single–member districts, also means, winner takes all voting system. In addition, the two parties, Democrats and Republicans, have essentially crowded
out the other minor parties. It makes extremely difficult for someone from one of those parties to become elected (Ch. 7). These two parties, the
Democrats and Republicans, survived through the decades and they have contrasting beliefs that distinguish them from one another.
Firstly, of the two current major political parties, the one with oldest roots is the Democratic Party. The first two presidents of the US George

The Democratic Party
In 1828, when the Democratic party was formed the founders wanted the values of this party to be liberal and protect and defend all of everyone rights.
The Democrats have been fighting for every American equality on race, sex, ethnicity or origin, language, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity,
age, and disability. In addition, this party has also been fighting for rights of immigrants and people from foreign countries. The last thing they also
fight for is personal freedom, rights, fairness, equality and creating better opportunities and lifestyle for Americans and other foreign countries. The
better political party for our nation would be the democratic party because they could ensure more individual rights and gun regulations.
First of all, the Democratic party has been fighting for a long time to ensure individual rights for every American citizen. In other words, they have
been fighting and enduring through a difficult journey to ensure fairness and equality all across America. According to the given information of the

Kelly KidwilerTable 3Essay on political parties September 19, 2015
The Democratic Party today is facing many problems many of which, can be overcome. As the head of the Democratic Party I have solutions to the
problems that we face as a party. The main obstacles that we face today include: increasing our voter turnout, attracting new millennial voters and
securing the Latino vote in the upcoming election. If these issues are addressed we are on track to have a very successful election.
The biggest obstacle that we face today is increasing our voter turnout rate for all elections. Republican's recent success can mostly be attributed to
their consistently higher voter turnout. According to Aaron Blake from Washington Post Democrats actually outnumber Republican voters it's just
a matter of getting our Democrat voters to come to the polls on election days. Republicans voters are on average older people and they are losing
votes because their supporters are literally dying. As this trend continues Republicans will slowly lose votes which means if we can simply show up
to vote our odds of success are very high. I think that the main way to entice Democratic voters to show up on Election Day is to stress to all voters
that it is impossible to get their opinion across if they don't vote and that they are basically obligated to vote since they live under a Democracy. We
have the right to vote and it is extremely important to express that right. There seems to be this shared

Democratic National Committee : The Democratic Party
I chose the Democratic National Committee, or DNC, as the political party organization that I want to study. I selected the Democratic National
Committee because it sets the core values of the Democratic Party and Democrats in the United States. Political parties, such as the Democratic Party,
are a vital way of representing concerns of the public as well as an outlet for voters to express their values and competencies (Stonecash, p. 83 & 84).
Therefore, the Democratic National Committee is responsible for creating an agenda and selecting candidates that will uphold the party's policies.

71). One would think that the national committee would have more power and a larger pull in terms of the Democratic Party, but it truly does not. It is
vital at all three levels to work with each other in order to build a strong coalition for the party. If there is a large amount of support at the local
level, the state level has a great chance of being supported heavily by Democrats. In turn, if the state is Democratic blue, then the national level has a
solid probability of being sustained by Democratic supporters. The same support system can work from top down as well. In order for a political party
to succeed, there must be vigorous support at all three levels. The Democratic National Committee helps to support candidates at the national, state, and
local levels.
The Democratic National Committee's leadership structure is somewhat complex. A chairman or chairwoman leads the DNC. Right now, the DNC is
being led by Interim Chair Donna Brazile (democrats.org). Her job is to lead the Democratic National Committee while specifically leading efforts to
increase fundraising. She is followed by Committee Chair Leaders that lead specific departments (democrats.org). Committee Chairs are in charge of
leadership in legislative, congressional, senatorial, the governor's association as they make up the second tier of leadership in the DNC. After the

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
The Democratic Party is one of two major political parties in the United States. I associate myself as a Democrat for the reason of their liberal
views. The Democratic Party tends to be more liberal and support the views like same sex marriage, immigration, and social and economic equality.
Many of the views the party stands for and beliefs tie to my beliefs. Some of the key priorities of the Democratic Party are the Economy, Poverty and
Homelessness, Education, Healthcare Policy, Social Security and Medicare, Immigration, and Gun Policy.
First, as a new Democratic nominee running for President their economic positions are made clear. To reach the goals that Democrats want for our
country 's economy, Democrats have made it their priority to cut taxes for working families and tax the rich more in tax increases. They also provide
help for small businesses and homeowners. The Democratic Party is also trying to make college available for free for all Americans as well as
removing companies that produce their products overseas and bringing them in the United States. "Hillary Clinton and Democrats will make certain we
build and economy works for everyone, not just those at the top."
Second, democrats want to make healthcare more affordable. An act that was passed by President Obama was passed known as the Affordable Care
Act allowed over 20 million Americans to get health care coverage. The Affordable Care Act allowed states to expand Medicaid to get more people

Democracy: The Plausibility Of The Democratic Party
When I drew up this map on Friday, there was a part of me that was hoping to be proven wrong on election day. At the same time, the plausibility of a
Republican win was in the realm of possibility for me because of the people I have seen supporting the now president–elect.
As a democratic voter, I was happy to see that Hillary Clinton at least won the popular vote. That said, the Democratic Party was arrogant and cocky in
the months and days leading up to the election:
They chose to disengage from civil discussion with their opponents, and instead opted to self–amplify vacuous rhetoric in the echo chamber of the
center–left.
They chose to not listen to those who had legitimate disagreements with Secretary Clinton, and instead opted to call

Democratic Party Vs. Democratic Parties
Since the beginning the United States the its form of government has been considered unique. While it is different from many other forms of
government it gives each U.S. citizen the ability to speak their mind on who they believe their country should be governed by and what laws they
should be governed under. In making these decisions citizens generally take a side, Republican or Democrat. Republican and Democratic parties are
two of the nations oldest political parties however, when they originated the Republican party was the Democratic party that we have today and the
Democratic party was the Conservative party we have today. To put that in simpler terms, the Democratic party were the Confederates in the civil war
while the Republican party was the Union. Democrats of that time favored a limited government, supported the idea of manifest destiny, and fought
for the continuation of slavery whereas the Republican party of that time opposed slavery, favored government policies such as nation currency, high
tariffs, or increased funding on the university system. The switch to the parties we know today is said to have happened gradually between 1872.
While the party system today is flipped from the original Democratic and Republican parties it still flows from historic roots but the reasoning's and
demographics behind who identifies as Liberal and who identifies as Conservative has advanced.
The basis of the government was set by three men, John Locke, Thomas Hobbs, and

The Democratic Party And The Republican Party
Politics has always been a controversial topic that has been actively separating the American society for many years. It has been fueled by the different
ideologies that have been formed and passed down from past generations. The United States government has two front–running parties: The Democratic
Party and the Republican Party. These parties are both criticized by one another, and the political candidates are kept under a microscope at all times.
One wrong sentence has the ability to bring the wrath of societal shame. With this term's presidential race the Republican Party and its lead candidate
have accelerated at these mishaps, which has conveyed a racial bias stigma. The denotative meaning of the Republican Party is to be, relating to, or
the nation of a republic. Each party has a denotative meaning, but the connotative meaning is what viewed in the eyes of the American society.
Republicans are believed to be all white, rich, over privileged, business hungry, and the oppressors of other minorities. In some situations, this noted
description of a Republican is factual, but to believe that the entire Republican party is born with wealth and racial hate towards minorities is
stereotyping at its finest. With a large institution, such as the Republican Party, two main views of stereotypes stand out. The first being from Stuart
Hall, which he states, "Stereotyping, in other words, is part of the maintenance of social and symbolic order. It sets up a symbolic frontier

Each year scientists cast a prediction on how much the sea levels will rise by the end of the century, but they keep changing to higher numbers

Democrats are trying to change this problem by trying to enforce laws of making more factories go green and power their plants by sawdust and
water instead of burning fossil fuels. In my perspective, I believe neither party will fix global climate change because it will cost more to install solar
panels and build new plants. The natural human instinct is to be cheap. America depends too much on Wall Street and unhealthy factories in China
to produce products and make money. Face it, if someone offered you an organic donut for $5, and then someone else offered you an ordinary

Republican And Democratic Parties: A Comparative Analysis
The issue remains that Congress will struggle to accomplish anything so long as Democrats and Republicans form hard lines on important issues rather
than searching for compromise. With the issue of gun legislation, for example, "votes on four gun–control measures failed mostly along party lines",
even though these votes were directly after the deadly Orlando shooting. Since opinions on gun control has become a major difference between the
Republican and Democratic parties, members of both parties are unlikely to soften their stance on the issue. Especially considering the "short time
frame before lawmakers depart Washington again to spend October campaigning", members of Congress are extremely unlikely to make any
compromising decisions that

The Democratic Party And The Whig Party
During the time periods between the 1830s and 1840s, two political parties: the Democratic party and the Whig party had faced the challenges among
their ideological differences on the role of federal government in the economy and the westward expansion, but did compromise in certain ways. The
one–party system of Monroe's presidency had led to the creation of a two–party system under the presidency terms of Andrew Jackson. The supporters
of President Jackson were known as the Democrats and the supporters of Henry Clay and Daniel Webster, rivals of Jackson, came to be known as
the Whigs. The Democrats were influenced by Thomas Jefferson, whereas the Whigs were influenced by Alexander Hamilton. The Democrats were
in favor of states' rights and opposed the growth of a powerful central government. Democrats also favored in rapid territorial and external growth.
The Whigs were in favor of a stronger federal government that was dominated by Congress. Whigs also favored gradual territorial expansions and
internal improvements. In future reference, the Democratic and Whig party created the two political parties in which we see today, the Democratic and
Republican Party. To start off, Henry Clay and the Whigs "... developed a platform called the American System, which advocated increased powers for
Congress; strong central control over foreign affairs and military issues; high tariffs and a national bank to build the economy; and extensive

The Pros And Cons Of The Democratic-Republican Party
In 1792, the world's oldest political party, the Democratic Party, was founded. During the presidency of President Andrew Jackson in 1830, the party
adopted its name as the Democratic Party as it is known now. Prior to the renaming of the party, it was known as the Democratic–Republican Party
founded by James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson in opposition of the Federalist Party. TheDemocratic Party's purposed served to supported states'
rights and the strict interpretation of the Constitution (Mayne, 1). Correspondingly, providing financial support to family based agriculture was one of
their main priorities (Mayne, 1). The Federalist Party, their opposition, consisted of wealthy elites that strived, and fought for one strong all ruling
national government, rather than state governments. As the United States had just recently become independent, the Democratic–Republican Party
was determined to prevent the United States from becoming a monarchy. Over the next century, the Democratic–Republican party began to split due to
the lack of agreement on major ideas which led to the current two–party system. However, some ideologies remain the same such as moral stance, and
socioeconomic status. Other ideologies like economic view and stance on government power have caused this split between the Democratic and
Republican parties (Mayne, 22). It is imperative to remember that even though these two parties are completely different, they originated from the
same party with one main goal; "To create a government that is run for and by its people" (Mayne, 23). I have still not developed a political
identity, but over the past three years of my residence in the United States, I am more in favor of the Democratic Party and what they stand for. At
first, the Democratic Party started out as the conservative party and the Republicans were the liberals. However, over time, the Democratic Party has
associated itself with social liberalism. Social liberalism is a political ideology which states that individual liberty requires social justice (DeMichele,
11). To be more precise, social liberal values include: equal pay, importance of women's rights and healthcare rights, pro safety, a progressive approach
to taxation, and union

A Balanced System Of The Republican Party And The...

  • 1. A Balanced System Of The Republican Party And The... Tiffany Edwards While democracy, to be a balanced system, should be two or more parties who hold different beliefs, the Republican Party and the Democratic Party have a long history of feuding when it comes to debating the major issues. The biggest issues that continue to be ongoing debates between the parties are education, tax reform, immigration, national debt, healthcare and abortion. Republicans tend to lean more toward the freedoms, rights and responsibilities of the individual and the democrats lean more toward American equality and social responsibility. Due to the differences in core beliefs between the two groups, it is uncertain that the two parties will ever be able to see eye to eye. When it comes to education the Democrats believe that the public school system should be supported. The democrats support the "No Child Left Behind" initiative and, when necessary, to close consistently failing schools that refuse help to make way for new schools with new approaches. Although in 2012 even Democrat, US Rep George Miller agrees that this program needs a rewrite. He stated, "We have learned a lot since the law's enactment. Thanks to NCLB, the evidence is irrefutable that all kids can learn if given an opportunity to succeed, regardless of their zip code or income. However, the law 's reforms are now outdated. It is now restraining schools from making the kinds of improvements needed to benefit students, communities and the economy." ("Miller Statement on 10th ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Jacksonian Democratic Party When George Henry Evans cited the unalienable rights of the Declaration of Independence and that, "'to secure these rights' against the undue influence of other classes of society, prudence... dictates the necessity of the organization of a party, who shall...prevent dangerous combinations to subvert these indefeasible and fundamental privileges", he called for a party to become the sentinel of the original American democracy. And for many, the Jacksonian Democratic Party filled that role. The Democrats, who pursued a democracy that entailed economic and social independence for the common citizen, faced harsh opposition from the Whig Party in the Second American Party System. But apart from the political tensions of the era, the mid–1800's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But Daniel Webster's response postulates that the veto message "sows...the seeds of jealousy and ill–will against the government of which its author is the official head" and that it "puts forth claims to powers heretofore unknown and unheard of". However, given the vast amount of influence the government had in the bank, the President would have had equally vast power. Additionally, these "powers heretofore unknown and unheard of" must also apply to the establishment of a National Bank, which on several occasions has been accused of being a grossly unconstitutional use of federal power. Therefore, Jackson's actions indeed represented honorable goals of economic equality. In the same vein, the Charles River Bridge vs. Warren Bridge Supreme Court Case highlighted the benefits of laissez–faire economics, a fundamental principle of the Democrats. Chief Justice Roger B. Taney's declared that, "while the rights of private property are sacredly guarded, we must not forget, that the community also have rights, and that the happiness and well–being of every citizen depends on their faithful preservation", justifying limited government intrusion in the ... • 3. Republican Parties: Contrasting The Republican And... Contrasting the Republican and Democratic Parties The Democratic and Republican parties of the United States are vastly different and have a long history of discord to prove it. Their opposing legislation and various conflicting ideals have them performing in government at opposite ends of the spectrum. Therefore, contrasting their views on taxation, the economy, and gun control will provide numerous examples as to why these two parties are so different. When it comes to the issue of taxation, the Republican and Democratic stances could not be more different. The Democratic Party advocates for higher taxes for the upper class while the Republicans prefer a flat tax for everyone ("Democrat vs. Republican"). Democrats want a tax plan that doesn't ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although in the wake of recent events, including the Las Vegas shooting, more Republicans are supporting stricter laws (for example the banning of bump stocks), the majority of the Republican Party still are strong advocates for a citizen's right to own weapons and conceal carry. "We oppose federal licensing of law–abiding gun owners and national gun registration as a violation of the Second Amendment and an invasion of privacy of honest citizens" (Republican Party on Gun Control). A reported 83% of polled Republicans support the NRA's, or National Rifle Association's, views; 80% of Democrats disagree with the NRA and their vision (Guns). This could be due to the fact that each party targets specific groups. For example, Republicans make up a majority of the South as the recent Trump campaign was driven by middle–class white males (Magleby, David). This makes sense, because Republican states are statistically more likely to own a gun. In contrast, the Democratic Party thinks that while they agree that it is a citizen's right to own a firearm, there should be more strict legislation that prevents criminals, people suffering from mental illnesses, and unfit individuals from owning a gun. Most Democrats agree that the only way to decrease gun related violence is through the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Democratic Party The Democratic Party was formed in 1792. Its name was adopted in the 1830s during Jackson's presidency. It is the "world's oldest existing political party" (Democratic Party). The Northern and Southern Democrats had issues dealing with slavery, which caused them to split in 1860. According to the "Democratic Party", the Southern Democrats wanted to protect "slavery in all the territories while many Northern Democrats resisted." The party was also known as the "white man 's party" and demonized the Republican Party as being "Negro dominated," even though whites were in control" ( Democratic Party). The party's platform deals with a lot of controversial topics. For example, abortion. Democrats believe "Abortion rights are "fundamental constitutional liberty" and abortion should be available regardless of a woman's ability to pay" (ABC News). They believe that abortion is completely up to the parents of the child. Another example is education. They want "affordable preschool for all children, higher teacher salaries, higher standards for teachers, students and states, triple number of charter schools, [and] let more parents choose from among public schools" (ABC News). In 2015, "the President announced a landmark proposal to make community college free to anyone who is willing to work for it" (@TheDemocrats). They want to make it easier for children attending school and allow teachers to earn a better salary. Another issue is gay rights. The Democrats are all for them. They ... • 5. The Democratic Party And Jacksonian Democracy Political parties are formed when voters have different ideology regarding government, economics, and politics. The Second Party System emerged after the Democratic and Whig parties came to power in America. The development of this party system was prompted by the clashing philosophies about individual rights, government control, and land acquisition. Despite both parties being equally prevalent in America, the Democratic Party flourished and was drastically much more successful than the Whig Party at impacting the nation. Between 1824 and 1828, with the support of Andrew Jackson, the Democratic Party was born. The beginning of this new Democratic era was known as "Jacksonian Democracy" because it was led by Jackson and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Whigs coined their name from the 18th century word used to describe American and British opponents of tyranny. They called themselves this because they believed that Jackson abused his presidential veto and turned into a tyrant. The majority of the Whig party consisted of highly skilled workers, successful business owners, and manufacturers that lived in New England and the Upper Midwest. The Whig Party favored government support in economic and social affairs. The Whigs believed that government influence promoted the growth and success of the economy. For this reason, the Whigs favored the spread of banks, passing of tariffs, and new transportation projects. The Whigs also believed that they could promote social progress by allowing the government to have control of society through regulations and reforms such as the prohibition of alcohol and the prohibition of business activities on Sundays. The Whigs also aimed to make society better through the building of hospitals, insane–asylums, and public schools. Whig philosophies revolved around strengthening the economy and creating a progressive society. Despite having a strong presence in America, the Whig Party's influence on the government and economy never surpassed the impact of the Democratic Party. Throughout most of the presidencies during the 19th century, the Democrats dominated the campaign. The Democrats executed many of their aspirations leaving a long–lasting ... • 6. The Democratic Party And The Republican Party Every four years, the United States' citizens elect a new president. The election is held in November, but campaigning starts almost a whole year before the election month. Candidates compete on a daily basis for the one position some people only dream of holding. With this election on the horizon, voters need to take time to understand who the contenders are and what their main objects will be once they arrive in office. In politics today, two parties exist; the democrat party and the republican party. Out of the pair of organizations, thedemocratic party remains as the world's oldest political party. It was first founded in the year 1828 by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. The Jeffersonian Republican or Democratic–Republican party ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They consisted of former Whig party supporters, abolitionists, and people who believed in the modernizing of the country. Their basic belief followed the ways of conservatism. Conservatism means that people believed in the rule of anti–communism, and also believed that the American traditions are the way the government should be ran along with Protestant values. Each party is represented by an animal and also a color; red elephants for republicans and blue donkeys for democrats. When looking at the economy today, it is rather on a plateau. A few years ago, the economy was heading in the wrong direction, but after current president Barack Obama was elected into office, he managed to sign many bills into effect which in turn helped bring our economy back up. Illegal immigration into the country has sky rocketed in the past ten years. The number of illegal immigrants flowing into the country is approximately seven hundred thousand each year. Personally, I believe that this number is entirely too high. The United States has a specific law about illegal aliens and how they must have a piece of paper called a green card in order to live in this country as an immigrant. These people of course are not considered citizens because they were not born in America, which is primarily the reason behind the law. Along with these issues, I also believe that the military and our veterans are treated with disrespect. Currently, we have been involved in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Democratic Party: Oldest Political Parties In The Nation The Democratic Party is one of the oldest political parties in the nation. During this time many things began to change, like the social, economic and as well as the political part. It was a time when President Jackson became the seventh president. "As President Jackson alienated some of his intimal supporters who would join the opposition to him, but his actions cemented the loyalty of far more of his initial voters as well as many others" (Michael F. Holt). During this period politics were trying to change things for the better but it still was hard for some people. It still had to take time for things to change and also for time to change before women and black women and men to be able to do so but this was the first period when things did start to change. We want an America that gives all Americans the chance to live out their dreams and achieve their God –given potential. We want an America that is still the world's strongest force for peace and freedom. And we want an America that is coming together around our enduring values, instead of drifting apart." (Republicanviews, 2015) One of the strongest beliefs of the Democratic Party is that of equality on all fronts. President Jackson had changed the way people saw the things in the 1800's Jackson's election marked a new direction in American politics. • 8. The Political Party At The Democratic Party Internet Assignment Political Party Research: 1.I am attracted to the Democratic Party. I took the political party quiz and answered the questions as honestly as I could. I found the questions to be very interesting and versatile. After viewing my results I looked into The Green Party some more. I am basically an environmentalist and believe taxes are affecting the lower classes and something needs to be done about it. I agreed with all of these issues. 2.The top 5 issues are jobs, families, health, education and infrastructure. These have been goals of the Democratic Party for many years. I believe these are interesting goals and also ones I believe have issues. There's plenty of room for improvement when it comes to securing family funds, giving jobs to everyone who qualifies for them, and improving the education we give to our young citizens. 3.When it comes to jobs, the Democratic Party has worked with President Obama to stabilize the financial system and help prevent a second degree depression. Since the recession 15 million private sector jobs have become available and the unemployment rate has dropped 5% for the first time in the last decade. The Democratic Party has also helped expand public options when it comes to education. They decided they were going to pay teachers like any other professional and thought about rebuilding schools. They also hired 100,000 more teachers to reduce class sizes and provide students with a better way of learning. They have fought ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Democratic Party Texas The Democratic Party is a party that stemmed from the Democratic–Republican Party, or the Jeffersonian Republican Party. "Democrats have led the fight for civil rights, Social Security, workers' rights, voting rights, veteran's rights, health care, equality, immigration reform, and women's rights." Since 1848, this has been the mindset of the state of Texas. Also in 1848, Texas took part in its first presidential election. The state of Texas has voted Democratic every year except for in 1928 when citizens did not agree with the nominee, Al Smith. Texas officially became a state in 1845. The turning point of Texas began in 1980 when the state started to lean toward the Republican side of things. "In 1980, Texas sided with the Republicans.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During that time, not only has he consistently opposed LGBT equality, but he's used his opposition to LGBT rights as a campaign issue against other candidates." He even defied a Department of Defense rule that would have granted LGBT service members access to domestic partner benefits." Living with a governor for 15 years that has been so adamant against the equality of same sex relationships, how can our state change for the better? Even our current governor, Greg Abott is against same sex marriage. He believes the ruling goes against the religious beliefs of Texans and has been against it since it was passed. "The Supreme Court has abandoned its role as an impartial judicial arbiter and has become an unelected nine–member legislature. Five Justices on the Supreme Court have imposed on the entire country their personal views on an issue that the Constitution and the Court's previous decisions reserve to the people of the States. Despite the Supreme Court's rulings, Texans' fundamental right to religious liberty remains protected. No Texan is required by the Supreme Court's decision to act contrary to his or her religious beliefs regarding marriage. The Texas Constitution guarantees that no human authority ought, in any case whatsoever, to control or interfere with the rights of conscience in matters of religion. "We need majorities strong enough that getting just a few Republicans to join us will enable us to do good, to build on Maine's strengths and our natural advantages and to create opportunities for all people to live a good life, not just the wealthiest few." The caucus did have some issues, with long lines to fill out registration forms and a shortage of parking at some locations. Although our ideas are similar, they do tend to align most of the time correctly. We both believe it is a mother's decision if she wishes to abort a child or not. We as a nation should encourage workers to maintain their jobs as long as possible, making it easier for the company plus the family. Now moving on, I believe my ideas diverge from the Democratic Party in a sense, that we each want things done a different way. The Jacksonian Democratic Party And The Whig Party The Jacksonian Democratic Party and the Whig Party each, exemplified different beliefs on the role of the federal government in the economy and towards westward expansion in the 1830s and 1840s. However, the Jacksonian, laissez faire supporting Democrats and the economic nationalistic Whig party shared almost no beliefs except for the removal of American Indians in the areas their supporters wished to settle. The lack of similarities is because the Whigs formed their own party to oppose President Jackson's strong–armed leadership style and policies which earned him the nickname "King Andrew." The JacksonianDemocratic Party evolved out of the Democratic–Republican Party in the early 1800s, the core of its membership was composed of farmers, immigrants, and white Southerners. The Whigs formed in 1834 and lasted for 20 years, they were the major political party that opposed Andrew Jackson. The Whigs were created based upon the Federalist beliefs in a strong federal government and adopted many Federalist and National Republican policy ideas, including federal funding for internal improvements, a central bank, and high tariffs to protect the growth of manufacturing enterprises. In a broad sense, that statement might seem true. Major political parties play a majoritarian role in an otherwise pluralistic democracy in the United States. They are both majoritarian institutions trying to win control of the government. The differences between the parties lie in each party's beliefs about the purpose and scope of government. In the United States, the government's fundamental issues are often defined as freedom, order and equality. How it decides to promote those fundamental issues and how it chooses the proper mix of freedom, order and equality in its policymaking has to do with the process of choice. Freedom means different things to different people at different times, depending on what political context is being used. The two major senses of freedom are: freedom of and freedom from. Freedom of means freedom to do something. It is the lack of constraints on behavior. Freedom from means immunity from discrimination and it comes close to the concept of equality. Order is viewed in one sense as preserving life and protecting property. Few people would argue the need for order. The main obstacles that we face today include: increasing our voter turnout, attracting new millennial voters and securing the Latino vote in the upcoming election. If these issues are addressed we are on track to have a very successful election. The biggest obstacle that we face today is increasing our voter turnout rate for all elections. Republican's recent success can mostly be attributed to their consistently higher voter turnout. Even though glaciers started to melt in the after the Ice Age, our nuclear factories and burning of fossil fuels have been feeding the heat to the Earth, creating our Earth to start changing its climate to higher temperatures. Democrats are trying to change this problem by trying to enforce laws of making more factories go green and power their plants by sawdust and water instead of burning fossil fuels. In my perspective, I believe neither party will fix global climate change because it will cost more to install solar panels and build new plants. The natural human instinct is to be cheap. America depends too much on Wall Street and unhealthy factories in China to produce products and make money. Face it, if someone offered you an organic donut for $5, and then someone else offered you an ordinary donut for $1, you'd pick the ordinary donut because it's cheaper even though it's bad for you. Let's be real, fixing global climate change is like trying to fix a broken vase with a hot glue gun, it'll never be the same because the damage is already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Republican And Democratic Parties: A Comparative Analysis The issue remains that Congress will struggle to accomplish anything so long as Democrats and Republicans form hard lines on important issues rather than searching for compromise. With the issue of gun legislation, for example, "votes on four gun–control measures failed mostly along party lines", even though these votes were directly after the deadly Orlando shooting. Since opinions on gun control has become a major difference between the Republican and Democratic parties, members of both parties are unlikely to soften their stance on the issue. Especially considering the "short time frame before lawmakers depart Washington again to spend October campaigning", members of Congress are extremely unlikely to make any compromising decisions that ... • 38. The Democratic Party And The Whig Party During the time periods between the 1830s and 1840s, two political parties: the Democratic party and the Whig party had faced the challenges among their ideological differences on the role of federal government in the economy and the westward expansion, but did compromise in certain ways. The one–party system of Monroe's presidency had led to the creation of a two–party system under the presidency terms of Andrew Jackson. The supporters of President Jackson were known as the Democrats and the supporters of Henry Clay and Daniel Webster, rivals of Jackson, came to be known as the Whigs. The Democrats were influenced by Thomas Jefferson, whereas the Whigs were influenced by Alexander Hamilton. The Democrats were in favor of states' rights and opposed the growth of a powerful central government. Democrats also favored in rapid territorial and external growth. The Whigs were in favor of a stronger federal government that was dominated by Congress. Whigs also favored gradual territorial expansions and internal improvements. In future reference, the Democratic and Whig party created the two political parties in which we see today, the Democratic and Republican Party. To start off, Henry Clay and the Whigs "... developed a platform called the American System, which advocated increased powers for Congress; strong central control over foreign affairs and military issues; high tariffs and a national bank to build the economy; and extensive infrastructure improvements–financed and ... • 39. The Pros And Cons Of The Democratic-Republican Party In 1792, the world's oldest political party, the Democratic Party, was founded. During the presidency of President Andrew Jackson in 1830, the party adopted its name as the Democratic Party as it is known now. Prior to the renaming of the party, it was known as the Democratic–Republican Party founded by James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson in opposition of the Federalist Party. TheDemocratic Party's purposed served to supported states' rights and the strict interpretation of the Constitution (Mayne, 1). Correspondingly, providing financial support to family based agriculture was one of their main priorities (Mayne, 1). The Federalist Party, their opposition, consisted of wealthy elites that strived, and fought for one strong all ruling national government, rather than state governments. As the United States had just recently become independent, the Democratic–Republican Party was determined to prevent the United States from becoming a monarchy. Over the next century, the Democratic–Republican party began to split due to the lack of agreement on major ideas which led to the current two–party system. However, some ideologies remain the same such as moral stance, and socioeconomic status. Other ideologies like economic view and stance on government power have caused this split between the Democratic and Republican parties (Mayne, 22). It is imperative to remember that even though these two parties are completely different, they originated from the same party with one main goal; "To create a government that is run for and by its people" (Mayne, 23). I have still not developed a political identity, but over the past three years of my residence in the United States, I am more in favor of the Democratic Party and what they stand for. At first, the Democratic Party started out as the conservative party and the Republicans were the liberals. However, over time, the Democratic Party has associated itself with social liberalism. Social liberalism is a political ideology which states that individual liberty requires social justice (DeMichele, 11). To be more precise, social liberal values include: equal pay, importance of women's rights and healthcare rights, pro safety, a progressive approach to taxation, and union ...
