Teenage Girls
As a matter of fact, teenage girls are not the only ones who fall victim to the ideal of beauty.
Teenage boys are going through very similar situations. Media and advertisements set their
standards for men to be tall, muscular, board upper body, v–line and have beards etc. Neither males
nor females live without having standards set up for them by society and media. "Widely held
perceptions of beauty and perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and
men." Some impact is that these standards will continue to exist in our future culture and both
genders will never feel comfortable in their own skin/body. Both men and women would continue to
judge themselves and their beauty. Magazines and advertisements usually have images of men
without their shirts in order to show off their muscles and to attract customers. This makes members
of society expect to see a six pack,v–line and pectorals when a male takes off their shirt. This gives
teenage boys fear to take off their shirt when going to the beach or smaller situations like going
inside a pool because they are scared to be criticized for not being muscular. Magazines display
images of these fake models for both men and women which creates intimidation."Study of mass
media magazines discovered that women's magazines had 10.5 times more advertisements and
articles promoting weight loss than men's magazines did (as cited in Guillen & Barr.1944)." The
ideal of beauty targets women more than men. In

Shopping: Retailing and Teenage Girls
Everyone shops and usually on a daily basis. Whether you're at the grocery store, at the mall or
online. Shopping conveys every emotion. Shopping has been present in the United States since the
day we arrived. In the sixteen and seventeen hundreds, people traded items for other items until
1862 when the United States bills were first printed. Now we carry cash, checks and credit cards.
Have you ever heard the expression, "like a kid in a candy story," or ever seen a child who hasn't got
what they've wanted? They scream and cry and will throw a temper tantrum in the store. When
children go shopping with their parents they want toys and candy and get mad if they don't get what
they want. When kids shop they are either overjoyed or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They never have to leave the convenience of their own home. E–bay makes it easy to buy and sell
things online without leaving your home, it's almost like a garage sale but they have everything
imaginable online for sale. You could buy something as big as a house or a car, but you can also buy
something as small as a pair of socks. Just about every clothing store you see in the malls has an
online store. The down side of online shopping is that you can't try on the clothes before you buy
them. Depending on who you are shopping can be anything from a fun time at the mall with your
friends, frustrating if you're a young child, scary if you're a man who is looking for a ring so he can
ask the girl he loves to marry him, expensive if you live in Beverly Hills, a hard decision if your
trying to find a car for your kids sixteenth birthday, sad if your picking out a plot to be buried in, or
it can be a rush to those who shoplift. Shopping is for anyone and everyone and we all do it on a day

A Teenage Girl: The Story Of Bonnie Richardson
Bonnie Richardson, a teenage girl, is from Texas. This girl was not a girl around there. She was
capable of sports. Because she was too good at everything, some people called her Monster, Big
foot, It, etc. She used to like to be the tallest, swiftest, and strongest, but she began to downplay
everything she did and cut it down size before anyone else could as she gets older. She was raised
by great parents, and that let her be who she was. For example, he was shooting a Remington at
prickly pear cactus with dad, climbing on a bucket to mount Snip and trot off with Dad to run the
ranch, and rising at 4 a.m. to spend all day separating the cattle for weighing and shipping, and
swallowing so much dust that she'd spit brown till tomorrow. When

Teenage Girls and Body Image Essay
Teenage girls are at an impressionable time in their lives. Mass Media is a key idea in one of the
factors of socialization that become important to teenagers. Teenagers look to the media for a sense
of entertainment. Whether it is movies, magazines, or even some aspects of social media, teenagers
get a lot of influence from the media's message. The problem with this is the media has a specific
way of doing things and can be negative to a susceptible teenage girl. Media's way of portraying a
woman can be skewed and unrealistic way from what reality is. Teenage girls then have a desire for
this look or way. In this essay the three ways I will describe as to why the media can negatively
affect a teenage girls body image is by showing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a study done of female beauty icons, two time frames were studied, 1959–1978 and 1979–1988.
In the research, the women who were portrayed as beautiful, and the icons in the media, were
observed and over half of them had fit into the standards of having one of the eating disorders,
anorexia nervosa (Vonderen & Kinnally, 2012). Mass media can have an adverse effect teenage girls
by showing body types that are unrealistic as the normal and desirable type of body to have. Young
women look to the mass media to see the societal norms for beauty, and what they see can influence
the way that they view themselves. By portraying women who possess a body type that is
uncommon, it shows teenage girls that they need to change themselves to reflect the images they are
shown. Portraying body types that emphasize thinness and exaggerated features, the mass media try
to establish what is socially acceptable. Teenage girls who see this message feel pressured to
become what they see, often not realizing that the body types portrayed in media are unrealistic.
One reason mass media is so effective at portraying unrealistic body types as normal is because the
mass media helps to set what is perceived as normal. In an article about the mass media's role in
body image disturbance and eating disorders, J. Kevin Thompson and Leslie Heinberg state, "A
sociocultural model emphasizes that the current societal standard for thinness, as well as other

Stereotypes Of Teenage Girls
#1 There is many stereotypes given to both men and women that start to invade their minds at a very
young age. Boys grow up being expected to be stone cold beasts, to be strong and very masculine.
They are meant to stay away from doing anything that could be considered that is feminine or girly
such as crying and expressing feelings in any situation. Girls don't have it any better they are the
opposite, not supposed to be able to handle hands on things or be compatible with the majority of
sports. /they are supposed to be spending all their time making themselves look prettier and skinnier
as that is how they are supposed to be. Also just like men, women are treated worse if they act like
the other sex and thus lead them down a worse life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
#4 I believe that our culture is driven by beauty as it is a thing everyone can see in themselves as it
is on their skin. All of media can easily manipulate most people by portraying someone who is much
better looking than the average viewer and state that "even you can look like this if you use our
product" For some people, especially if they are feeling vulnerable that day they will buy the
product.
There is also a beauty standard in life portrayed through reality tv. Mostly all reality tv shows show
a unattainable quality of life. Just like beauty products people get attached to it and want to be who
they see. And when they can't they go back to buying more products to match the unattainable. A
vicious cycle then continues destroying someone's self

Eating Disorders In Teenage Girls
Today every girl wants to be "perfect" or be close to perfect. One of the requirements is to have a
nice body. It is easy for any girl to reach this goal by changing their diet. Girls often have to deal
with many different issues such as eating disorders, low–self esteem, body image issues and so on.
Many of these issues are influenced by all the advertisement on social media. Some girls are not
aware of the consequences that they will have to face after "fixing" their bodies. There are different
ways teen girls harm their bodies such as eating and then purging which is called bulimia nervosa.
Another eating disorder is starvation which is known as anorexia nervosa. Anorexia in teenage girls
is very important to be aware of because young women

Factors Influencing Teenage Girls Made
Projected Findings
When asked if environmental factors had an influence on major decisions teenage girls made
pertaining to their body 40%(ten out of twenty–five) of the teenage girls stated that environment
factors have influenced their decision on their body. Thirty six percent (nine out of twenty–five) of
the young ladies surveyed responded that they have people they can talk to in their home or
neighborhood when making decisions. Sadly, only 20% of the young ladies recorded being aware of
the correct usage of contraceptives before their first sexual experience. Seventy two percent
(eighteen out of twenty five) of the young ladies stated they understood what it took to make a baby.
Forty eight percent of the young ladies surveyed stated they lived in a financially stable home. What
constituted a financially stable home in this research was a parent or parents who have been working
a job consistently for 6 months or more. Forty four percent (eleven out of twenty five) of the young
ladies agreed that promiscuous behavior led to unwanted pregnancies. The young ladies who did not
agree often bought up friends and family members around them who were very promiscuous and
did not get pregnant like they did. Forty percent (ten out of twenty five) stated they understood how
the spread of HIV and STIs are transmitted. A common pattern the teenage girls stated is that you
can tell when somebody has a sexually transmitted disease or

The Influence Of Body Image Of Teenage Girls
How would you feel if you were being manipulated on your body image, rather than your talent, and
beauty? Beauty is skin deep, but in the understanding of fashion industries, modeling businesses
they believe that beauty is physical appearance. Fashion industries, modeling businesses are more
than just clothing and making young teenage girls lives better. In fact, every teenage girl who is
interacting with the fashion world is often being manipulated to look a certain way. Teenage girls
are being pressured into a surreal ideal weight to becoming perfect for their industries. Teenage girls

fashion industry was created to show clothing garments, or fashion pieces. Society's mentality is
focusing on the young girls who are models rather than the actual garment. The girl who is
portraying it must be in the ideal body weight on specific guidelines in order to sell to people.
Young girls would be told they were too fat if they gain one more pound. Beauty isn't measured by
body image, nor the weight of how much you scale. Beauty is skin deep. Beauty is found within and

Stereotypes Of Teenage Girls
Introduction
We may not think or believe it ourselves, but the media is constantly ruling a huge part of our lives
and how we socially interact with others. Over many years it has created many stereotypes and it
shows quite a false representation of teenage girls. But firstly what in fact is representation? Or
stereotypes?
Representation
Representation is the process by which the media present us to the 'real ' world and how they re–
present something back to us. For a huge number of us the media is a main source for us to
understand the world around us.
Stereotypes
A stereotype can be what we call an inaccurate ideology. It is targeted at a specific group or
individual such as teenage girls. An ideology is the beliefs, ideas and values that are emboldened by
the media.
For example we believe we think that we know what the ambitions are for most teen girls;
popularity, partying, pretty and BOYS!!! But actually this is only what the media's representation of
teen girls that has caused this ideological stereotype of girls and their relational ambitions.
Stereotypes that the media has produced has shaped society as we know it. We are constantly
surrounded by television social media advertisements and all things media attempt to capture our
attention. When we look at stereotypes in the media we get what we call a positive negative win.
This is when the media text that we are looking at provides either a positive or negative outlook and
provides either a positive or

problem with Alyssa that other teenage girls don't normally have difficulty with and that is boys.
Every other teenage girl has her first boyfriend at 13 with plenty experiences of having first kisses.
At the age of 16, Alyssa faces her first romantic encounter with her fellow neighbor, Cody. Her
awkward and unique personality always plays out a different outcome then normal teenage girls.
Cody is Alyssa's neighbor. He tries to keep up with trends like the other teenage boys but faces

When Cody shows Alyssa a new game he found on his phone, he puts his arm around her for the
first time ever. The arm around the shoulder progresses into Cody throwing Alyssa onto his lap to
get a perfect view of her face. Alyssa's awkward personality comes out when she keeps asking
question if it's okay for him to be this friendly to her. She also refuses at first the kiss multiple times
from being anxious. Finally, Cody pressures Alyssa into the first kiss, and well it didn't go as
planned. A sloppy peck led Alyssa to frantically get off of Cody and head to the bathroom. She
looks at herself in the mirror and realizes that she just had her first kiss. Shortly after, her stomach
becomes upset from her mini panic attack before and after the first kiss. Alyssa then vomits in the
toilet and enters back into the room. However, Cody suspects her just going to the bathroom and not
vomiting. At the night of the end, he gives Alyssa another kiss and promises to see her

For Teenage Girls By Clementine Von Radics
Throughout a woman's life, she is told time after time that she cannot do certain things because of
her gender. People tell women that they cannot be the CEO of the world's largest company or the
President of the United States because it is a "man's job." Clementine von Radics' poem, "For
Teenage Girls," emphasizes the sexism imposed on girls from a young age and how women of
history have proven the prejudice against women wrong. Throughout Radics' poem, female figures
of history are named to shine light on past events that have put a dent in the stereotypes and
prejudice held against women. The named women were alive during different time periods and have
different ethnicities to emphasize that any woman is capable of making a difference

The Victimization of Teenage Girls
What does it mean to be a girl according to society? How does society see it? In many countries, a
girl is seen as powerless, uneducated, and too emotional to handle a man's job. For example, women
in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to drive. In the past, writers used to describe a woman's role as the
victim of many forms of discrimination in the United States of America. In other words, women
were only involved in things that men thought were not important. For instance, women did not
have any other role than being a housewife. They had to stay at home, watch the children, be
responsible, and do all the chores. Nonetheless, American women got their freedom earlier
comparing to other countries in the world. Now they are more independent, more ... Show more

Kerry Cohen, as a practicing psychotherapist and writing teacher, provides in her book different
resources and website where teen girls can get more information about these symptoms.
Another second reason why teen girls are victimized is the culture of this society. Teen girls are told
to be princesses when they are small. However when they are grown up they are told by their
parents that they are too young to use inappropriate cloth. When they go out and meet other teens
who wear sexy cloths, they are getting mixed feeling about it. Another example is when they watch
TV they see girls in sexy cloths and they automatically think that it is right. The TV uses girls in
bikinis to attract the audience. Even more, when teen girls go to school, they want to "fit" in their
group of friends by wearing the same cloths because that is what they make them seem "cool."
Therefore, how they are seen by others is more important than anything. Image comes first. They
must do anything to "fit in the Cinderella's shoe." Likewise, on the short story, 'Where Are You
Going, Where have You Been" written by Joyce Carol Oates, Connie wants attention at all costs.
She enjoys when men are looking at her. Connie's mother never agrees with her that she is beautiful.
Instead, Connie's mother criticizes her and compares her with June, her older sister. Then, Connie
develops a low self–esteem because her family is not accepting her sexual admiration. For example,
there is a part on

Teenage Girls
I'm not going to hang out with these girls, they aren't popular, and they don't get invited to anything.
To begin, they only want to hang out with all the popular kids; because they are "cool", and only
wear the new popular style of clothes because everyone else is. In fact, some girls wonder everyday
if they are good enough to fit in, or if they can talk or hang out with certain groups. Girls are always
wondering if their peers accept them. Talking with boys is also another thing teen girls do that cause
them to stress, it's hard especially if you can't even talk to any other people, not knowing if you're
good enough. Although teen girls are supposed to always be happy, there are many problems girls
now face, that I think can easily be resolved, like being self conscious, being a follower, and
wanting to only hang out with "popular" kids. To begin, teenage girls face too much stress due to a
fairly good amount of issues with their self confidence. For example, some girls care about how
they look; girls think they should always wear the clothes that are "in style" and are the most
expensive, or even just considered "cool". Another thing worry about is determining if they are
popular. Instead of wondering about things a normal kid would think about, girls wonder if they are
good enough to fit in a certain group, and if they did fit in, who all likes them. Phones are a
necessity in the everyday life of a teenager. From snapchatting to just texting you

women of all age groups suffer from mental illnesses. Experiencing a mental illness is not just a

The common defense for those who do not believe that mental illnesses exist is that the person
should simply "feel better." Mental illnesses can be so severe that they can can completely change
someone's personality and they may not be able to complete daily tasks. Ultimately,
neurotransmitters are what humans rely on to send various chemical messages and electrical pulses
across the brain to be able to carry out different tasks. Serotonin, dopamine, and glutamate are
neurotransmitters that deal with emotions. People with illnesses such as , but not limited to,
depression, attention deficit disorder, and schizophrenia are known to have higher or lower levels of
these neurotransmitters. An upset in the levels of these neurotransmitters hinder the way the brain is

The Death Of The Teenage Girl
"It hurts! It hurts!" the blonde, teenage girl cried throughout the ER. Apparently, she was about to
give birth and she did not even know she was pregnant. The doctor immediately got to work. She
had delivered a healthy baby girl. Soon the teenager's father rushed into the room. The father had a
look of shock and anger all over his face. "Amber, how could you? What is this? Why didn't you tell
us?" the father asked the teenage girl. "Dad, I'm not pregnant. I couldn't be," the girl replied. The
doctor was curious to why the girl did not know she was pregnant, so she talked to the boyfriend.
The boyfriend was outside the room, panic was written all over him. "I couldn't understand," the
boyfriend stated. "Well your girlfriend just delivered a baby, so she was pregnant," the doctor
replied. "But we only did it standing up you can 't get pregnant like that. Can you?" the boyfriend
asked. The doctor proceeded to asked who had told him about that "fact". The boyfriend answered
that it was his older brother that told him that "If you do it standing up, then the girl is not going to
get pregnant. So you can eliminate the use of a condom." The doctor then had to give a lesson about

Portier describes tradition as a language, an act, or even an historical text handed to us by a family
member, the people we interact with on a daily basis and the cultural setting we are a part of. Such
tradition, defines who someone is best by dialogue because tradition can give enough illustration of
something or give enough room to compare between past and present traditions. (20) Tradition,
helps us question and answer the possibilities of human existence and experience through the

She wants people to see that not everyone who claims to be of the Islamic faith is automatically

individual into who they are in a "particular place and time and in a particular network of relations
to people in family, community, nation, and church". (19) Her time happens to be in her teenage
years. The courageous choice to wear a Hijab in public shocks not only her parents, friends but

them that can only be shared by tradition. This shared language and culture Portier believes gives us
the answers to human capabilities to overcome feelings of hostilities perhaps. Feeling brave by this
past encounter she wears the Hijab at school where she gets mixed feelings toward it at first by her
friends and also by her principal who first questions if she should be allowed to wear it in school.

Abortion a Problem for Teenage Girls
Abortion a problem for teenage girls
The purpose of this essay is to bring awareness to the medical procedure of abortion, which is a very
dangerous procedure that needs to be solved. The target audience is those teenage girls that are
deciding to abort using irrelevant procedures. This problem is an increasing trend that is affecting
younger and younger girls as time passes due to poor sex education involvement in schools, and
family discussions. Sometimes girls have rational reasons of why they decide to abort, like when
they have serious diseases, when their economic situation is not the best, or when they were victims
of sexual abuse. Thus, there have been many cases in which girls just decide to abort for no reason
at all without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the articles from Olukoya & Kaya, relate to the one from Cumberland because they state
that girls should have private advising at schools in order to orient them towards the right track.
Even though, Cumberland goes more into detail about what's one of the ways to solve the problem,
like implementing sex based classes in schools, the article also heads the same approach to promote
counseling to pregnant girls. Cumberland, as well as Olukoya & Kaya approach the problem of
abortion based on education programs available, how these programs might help parents understand
the situation of their daughters, and how they can help them make the right decision.
Also, the second solution to undecided abortions is to telling relative girls trust in order to receive
emotional or economic assistance. This solution is really good when the communication within the
family is good, but it's not the best solution to the problem. The reason for this is because sometimes
family members can have emotional conflicts, and they might not take the idea of pregnancy
positively. This can affect the girl's decision because their feelings are dependent on their
background; they can feel shyness, fear, or anger towards the idea of pregnancy. Additionally, girls
can end up killing the baby and themselves because they were not aware of the correct precautions
to take when aborting. On the other hand, sometimes telling a relative can bring many positive
effects on the decision because

Birth Control For Teenage Girls
Most people know of the common forms of contraceptives such as the pill, IUD, or condom. What
many people don't know is that there are more forms of contraceptives than just those. Teenagers
tend to rely on the more common ones like the pill or condom but some do use the others. The most
common contraceptive for teenage girls is the Oral Contraceptive Pill (OCP) (Committee on
Adolescence) or as it is commonly known, the Birth Control Pill. This form has a 9% fail average
(healthychildren.org) but a 15%–20% fail (Committee on Adolescence) for teenage girls because
they forget to take it or don't take it at the same time everyday. There are many more forms of birth
control for females than there is for males. The male condom when used incorrectly ... Show more

Barbie Impact On Teenage Girls
Children are usually influenced by the toys they play with in their childhood. While most toys come
and go as fad fades, one particular doll has withstood the test of time: Barbie. She has shaped the
lives of many teenage girls in the ways they want to look or the lives they want to be; she has been
their pop culture icon. Nevertheless, Barbie's perfect appearance and life are unrealistic. Barbie
exemplifies how a perfect doll adversely affects on teenage girls' development such as appearance
dissatisfaction, physical transformations, and eating disorders.
The first negative impact of Barbie on teenage girls is their feelings of appearance dissatisfaction.
Barbie has a perfect image with a skinny body, slim waist, and beautiful face, which seems to be an
ideal model for teenage girls. As a result, teenage girls want to have the same perfect body as
Barbie. Therefore, the attractive doll makes teenager girls feel dissatisfied with themselves and have
low confidence about their body. They are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through Barbie's visual aspect and her perfect life with a luxury house, fancy jewelry, fashionable
outfits, and handsome boyfriend, teenage girls could be persuaded that being beautiful is the most
important matter in their life. They want to apply make–up like Barbie. However, achieving the
level of physical perfection that Barbie has requires more than just make–up. As a result, teenage
girls could try to have plastic surgery in order to achieve an attractive body like her because Barbie
gives them the expectation of being physically perfect. For example, Pixee Fox, a Swede, underwent
more than one hundred plastic surgeries in attempt to make her look like Barbie. Pixee may be an
extreme example of how Barbie has shaped the lives of teenage girls all around the world, but her
experience demonstrates Barbie is not just a toy; she is the motivation of physical

The Problem Of Teenage Girls
They Are All Beautiful Not a lot of people truly know how hard it is for teenage girls to live up to
the standards presented to them. Seventy–four percent of teenage girls say there is a lot of pressure
when it come to pleasing everyone (Girls Inc, The Supergirl Dilemma). That percentage is
astronomically high. Females this young should not have to worry about things as superficial as
looks at this age. Teenage years are supposed to be the best years of a person's life and time should
not be wasted on worrying about body image. The pressure imposed on teenage females to adhere to
a fictional standard of beauty has many negative consequences including: eating disorders, low self–
esteem, and mental disorders. Teenage girls are targeted by the media the most. Ads showing thin,
successful women with clear skin and money bombard young women on a daily basis and because a
majority do not look that way, these young ladies feel worthless. Teenagers pick up on those "not
subtle" clues that to be 'perfect' includes being smart, thin, have clear skin, and long hair. This age
group is where kids become more aware of celebrities and media images – as well as how other kids
look and how they fit in ( D 'Arcy Lyness, PhD). They are taking in everything that is presented to
them and no one realizes just how much it is affecting them. Body image is something that is
important to them and if they are not comfortable with how they look, they become uncomfortable,
awkward, and

The Diary Of A Teenage Girl
The film version of Diary of a Teenage Girl, rather than condemning patriarchal privilege and its
attendant exploitations as the book does, is instead a very careful take on a young 's girl 's
exploration of her sexuality. The film and the book share the same premise but ultimately differ on
delivery due to their inherently different approaches to capturing Minnie's life as her and the other
characters are portrayed differently, so much so that is a cautious take on an otherwise un–barred
novel. Rather than touching upon patriarchal privilege and its exploitations, the film smooths over
many of the more intense aspects in order to create a happy ending for itself, which is fundamentally
different than what the book intended. "The Diary of a Teenage Girl" is based on the popular
graphic novel by Phoebe Gloeckner published in 2002 and written as well as directed by Marielle
Heller. They follow the life of Minnie (Bew Powley), who is 15 years old, in San Franciso in the
year 1976. She lives with her single mother (Kristin Wiig) and younger sister. Monroe (Alexander
Skarsgard), is her mother's 35 year–old boyfriend, and the two of them carry on a secret sexual
relationship. In the book, the text speaks for Minnie in ways that she cannot speak for herself which
leaves the reader to fill in the gaps; however, viewers get no sense of this in the film, where what
happens is taken at surface value. Patriarchal control of the men in her life, such as Pascal and
Munroe, still

Parenting Teenage Girls Rhetorical Analysis
Parenting Teenage Girls is a podcast that informs the listener about difficult subjects with girls. The
author states that way we view teenage girls is wrong and that we negatively reflect onto how
teenage girls act. Many times, the way we view girls are negative, from the way they dress, to the
way they act, to the way feel. The point of this paper is to describe what the podcast was about, the
key concepts of the podcast, and one thing learned about the topic.
Summary
This podcast takes an thought–provoking take on how we talk about girls. It describes how we talk
about girls in such a way that we automatically set them up to fail. By teaching girls that they can be
too sexual, or too prude, we miss what the point about what a girl wants and wishes are. An
fascinating way the speaker talks about how to bring up the issues is to bring up the subject while
watching a show or during a car ride. She encourages parents to make the conversations quick but
allowing the conversation to open up so that they can happen.

Dating Advice From A Teenage Girl
Dating advice from a teenage girl's perspective
These few words will focus more on dating tips and a couple of recommendations, since personally
I've been seeing many relationship mistakes over and over again that can be easily avoided.
Therefor I created a very easy check list that are essential of a perfect date reminding not only guys
but as well as girls.
1.Be Respectful Your date would want to feel cared about and not treated like an object, I suggest
treat him or her how you would want to be treated. Remind yourself first, what is that you are
looking for in a guy or gal, make sure who you're with and avoid choosing the wrong person.
2. Like always, Be yourself!
Your date decided to go out with you for a reason and not someone else. Whatever you do to
mislead them into another type you are not can come back and to bite you later. Ask your friends
what they have to say such as feedback, of course they might be jealous of a relationship but your
true friends would be honest and work through things.
3. Dress like a youngman or classy girl If your going out dress nicer than what you would normally
wake up to on a lazy weekend, this doesn't mean you can't have your style– on the contrary, be have
your own style and individuality. Tip! Make sure your clothes are always ironed, and spray a bit of
your favorite fragrance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It's always a good way to start a conversation. If it's your first date with them I suggest not going to
the movies unless there is a plan to meet before on a dinner date, it helps so that she won't ask much
on the expensive movie concession stand. Don't forget to compliment them, they took time to look
their best, some girls take up to hours to look confident I'm pretty sure they would love to hear how
beautiful they look with or without any makeup. – Girls remember guys don't wear makeup, they
internally melt of love when you say how handsome and charming they look.

The Teenage Girl
The Teenage Girl To most people, "Metal" music is what they listen to when they're pissed off, or
working out, or something involving aggression, and a lot of people just wont listen to it. To me,
Metal is the complete opposite. A crushing guitar riff, backed by an intricate drum beat, and all
topped off with vocals that can be a blanket of emotions around the listener. When I listen to a
favorite band, or group, I am overcome with emotion. I sit and listen to a brutal riff with an insane
drum part, and I can just feel the stampede running through my ears. It is the most satisfying feeling
in the world. So for me to get to go to my first Metal concert a few years ago, you can imagine there

Teenage Girls And Girls With Pink And Little Boys
As we can see in the first set of advertisements above, there are toys that are specifically intended to
capture the interest in boys and girls separately. Here we can see how certain features in the
advertisements help aid in the socialization of children in regards to gender. Over the last couple
decades, it's been custom to shower little girls with pink and little boys with blue while they are
young, before they learn to choose their own favorite colors. These colors of pink and blue then
become a part of gender identification for the child and this is the reason why, in the top article, that
the left article is mostly pink to capture the attention of girls and blue on the right to peek the
interest of little boys. There also is a big difference in the toys when it comes to nurturing. On the
left advertisement at the top the girls have toys that require more nurturing and gentle treatment. For
example the baby dolls need to be nurtured and gently played with as well as the Barbie dolls needs
are made for their hair to be brushed and different outfits to be changed. Also one will notice that
the toys for the girls are toys which are more acceptable for playing indoors. On the other hand, the
boys have toys that are not expected to be gently handled, for instance, the Star wars sword and
helicopter are meant to be bashed and banged around. These toys for little boys are also made to be
played with more outside because toys like this can break things in a household. This

Sexual Assault On Teenage Girls
In a study that was documented in December 2014, "for the period 1995–2013, females ages 18 to
24 had the highest rate of rape and sexual assault victimizations compared to females in all other
age groups" (Langton & Sinozich, p. 1). This report compared and described how sexual assault can
effect students and nonstudents, but it focused mainly on females with the male as the offender.
"The findings are from the Bureau of Justice Statistics' (BJS) National Crime Victimization Survey
(NCVS), which collects information on nonfatal crimes reported and not reported to police against
persons age 12 or older" (Langton & Sinozich, 2014, p. 1). It is important to note that the statistics

There is far too much of the whole victim blaming, glorification of sex, and lack of consideration
for a person. I believe if we focus on fixing how society functions during sexual assault cases, then I
believe we can decrease the rates of sexual assault by helping people become more informed and by
treating it as a serious issue. When it comes to punishments, they must be more severe and certain or
else things like this will continue to happen. We also need to focus on getting those who are
assaulted to let someone know. There are people here for them that can help, even if they don't think
they need help, they do. Sexual assault is a serious crime that affects both females and males at any
age. If we continue to see it as anything else, then it'll only get worse over time which is not

Reality Shows: Helping or Hurting Teenage Girls? While teenage pregnancy has been on the rise in
America since the 1950's, researchers have been trying to look for an ideal solution that will help
solve the problem by declining teenage birth rates. Perhaps there is a potential solution after all.
What could this solution possibly be? Well, it might be as simple as the reality shows "16 and
Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" on the MTV network. Ever since airing in 2009, the shows "16 and
Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" have made a positive impact on teenage girls in America by reducing
teenage pregnancy, promoting birth control, and influencing teenage girls by teaching them lessons.

In the past four years, it has dropped even more dramatically at a rate of about 7.5% per year."
According to an article published by The Takeaway "MTV's '16 and Pregnant' May Reduce Teenage
Pregnancy," "Along with her co–author Phillip Levine, Kearney. A professor of economics at The
University of Maryland and director of the Hamilton Project, found that the show and its spin–off
may have prevented more than 20,000 births to teenage mothers in 2010, reducing the teenage
pregnancy rates by nearly six percent." Another positive impact the reality TV shows have had on
teenage girls includes promoting birth control. When it comes to getting the target audience of
teenage girls to not get pregnant, the first step that should be taken is informing girls about birth
control. In Ellen Rolfe's article "Watching MTV's '16 and Pregnant' leads to lower teen birth rates,
study finds," Rolfes explains, "Teenagers thinking changed in both their thoughts on pregnancy as
well as their behavior." Not only did it get teenage girls to think differently on pregnancy, but it also
got them thinking about birth control. "Kearney and Levine studied data from trends on Google as
well as Twitter to see if they had any impact on the lowering of teen birth rates. They found that the
USA which is where the show had aired showed a higher level of teenagers searching and tweeting
about birth control and abortion" (Wilson). If it wasn't for the show, there would be far less teenage

Birth Control Should Be Available To Teenage Girls
According to the Center of Disease Control (CDC), teen pregnancy rates have decreased by 11
percent to those aged 15–19 years in the years 2013 to 2014. If a continuum of these rates is to be
achieved, birth control should be available to teen girls without a prescription because they can
prevent unintended pregnancies. Also, the staggering abortion rates could be lowered due to the use
of oral contraceptives being available at any time. If condoms can be bought in stores to help guys
protect themselves, birth control should be over the counter. Birth control pills should be available
to teenage girls because teenage boys have availability to condoms, it would lower teen pregnancy
rates, and lastly it gives young girls control over their own body. ... Show more content on

In many ways this is a huge problem, and it is sending the wrong message to young girls. In just
about any place you go, condoms are being handed out left and right to young men to protect them
from becoming early fathers. While in the meantime young girls are dealing with becoming teen
moms much sooner. Yes, the use of condoms during any sexual activity could prevent an unintended
pregnancy, but it should be ok for a young girl to take the extra mile to protect her body. Yet girls in
this day in age are struggling to receive protection from pregnancy due to the extreme prices of birth
control and having to have a prescription. While guys can walk into any store and get a pack of

with millions of teenage girls feel pressured to build or maintain the perfect body. Thoughts on how

Ethical Dilemma in the News: Plan B for Teenage Girls...
As of recently, the approval of the emergency contraceptive Plan B, for the use of girls as young as
fifteen years old has stirred up quite some controversy (Belluck, 2013). Those who oppose it cite the
diminishing moral values that this would impose on an already increasingly secular society. These
individuals believe that having access to such a powerful substance would encourage young girls to
engage in sexual promiscuity without any fear of repercussion (Belluck, 2013). However,
proponents of this new law argue that giving full access to fifteen year old girls would discourage
them from becoming pregnant at such an early age and gives them the opportunity to make wise
decisions about their bodies. Aside from the two strongly opposing sides to this dilemma, the actual
nature of the dilemma stems from the ease with which these young girls would be able to access the
emergency contraceptive drug. Before the new law came into place, the emergency contraceptive
was only available through the prescription of a doctor and could only be accessed through a
pharmacist (Aleccia, 2013). With the new law, anyone fifteen or older would be able to access and
purchase the drug over–the–counter. Granting such access to girls who may at times not be fully
aware of the consequences of their actions is the nature of the dilemma. Despite such opposition to
this new law, the ethical decision made was to allow fifteen year old girls the ability to access this
emergency contraceptive without

Qualities of a Strong Teenage Girl
Qualities of a Strong Teenage Girl
Being a teenage girl, I know what it is like to be let down, put down, and feel completely alone. But
I also know what it takes to get back up, be courageous, and fight. One quality a teenage girl must
have is courage. Courage to stand up for yourself and others. To succeed, a teenage girl must have
smarts. Street smarts as well as book smarts are important. However, one quality that most teenage
girls have is a carelessly open heart; letting anyone in that tries. These qualities of a teenage girl
may lead her to heartbreak and emotional struggles, but overall can contribute to a successful life.
The first quality an adolescent girl must have to succeed, is courage. One reason for this quality is ...

She may do this because she wants to feel loved and needed. This leads to my second reason which
is the motivation of her partner. He may be looking to take advantage of her and wishes to leave her
heartbroken. When the partner realizes the girl's despiration, he feels a position of power and can
further take advantage of her; body and soul. Through my experience, I hear how girls can be taken
advantage of, and move from partner to partner as a reaction. Avoiding a broken heart can be
accomplished by having a strong heart that is selective and strives for mutual and balanced
commitment. A final reason for a teenage girl to be cautious with her heart is in connection to her
self worth. When a girl gets her heart broken, she may feel intense loneliness, or she may look
quickly for someone else to love and care for in order to avoid or fill the void of emotional pain. She
may start feeling negatively about herself and her body and believe she will never be good enough.
This poor self image can lead to severe depression and self harm. Many times, this heartache
happens because a girl lets someone into her life without boundaries, or standards and once she
realize this, she can feel defeated. For these reasons, having an open heart without using intelligence
is a dangerous combination for a teenage girl. As you can see by the reasons above, teenage girls
must have intelligence and courage to be successful.

Teenage Girls

  • 1. Teenage Girls As a matter of fact, teenage girls are not the only ones who fall victim to the ideal of beauty. Teenage boys are going through very similar situations. Media and advertisements set their standards for men to be tall, muscular, board upper body, v–line and have beards etc. Neither males nor females live without having standards set up for them by society and media. "Widely held perceptions of beauty and perfection can have a deep and lasting cultural impact on both women and men." Some impact is that these standards will continue to exist in our future culture and both genders will never feel comfortable in their own skin/body. Both men and women would continue to judge themselves and their beauty. Magazines and advertisements usually have images of men without their shirts in order to show off their muscles and to attract customers. This makes members of society expect to see a six pack,v–line and pectorals when a male takes off their shirt. This gives teenage boys fear to take off their shirt when going to the beach or smaller situations like going inside a pool because they are scared to be criticized for not being muscular. Magazines display images of these fake models for both men and women which creates intimidation."Study of mass media magazines discovered that women's magazines had 10.5 times more advertisements and articles promoting weight loss than men's magazines did (as cited in Guillen & Barr.1944)." The ideal of beauty targets women more than men. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Shopping: Retailing and Teenage Girls Everyone shops and usually on a daily basis. Whether you're at the grocery store, at the mall or online. Shopping conveys every emotion. Shopping has been present in the United States since the day we arrived. In the sixteen and seventeen hundreds, people traded items for other items until 1862 when the United States bills were first printed. Now we carry cash, checks and credit cards. Have you ever heard the expression, "like a kid in a candy story," or ever seen a child who hasn't got what they've wanted? They scream and cry and will throw a temper tantrum in the store. When children go shopping with their parents they want toys and candy and get mad if they don't get what they want. When kids shop they are either overjoyed or ... E–bay makes it easy to buy and sell things online without leaving your home, it's almost like a garage sale but they have everything imaginable online for sale. You could buy something as big as a house or a car, but you can also buy something as small as a pair of socks. Just about every clothing store you see in the malls has an online store. The down side of online shopping is that you can't try on the clothes before you buy them. Depending on who you are shopping can be anything from a fun time at the mall with your friends, frustrating if you're a young child, scary if you're a man who is looking for a ring so he can ask the girl he loves to marry him, expensive if you live in Beverly Hills, a hard decision if your trying to find a car for your kids sixteenth birthday, sad if your picking out a plot to be buried in, or it can be a rush to those who shoplift. • 3. A Teenage Girl: The Story Of Bonnie Richardson Bonnie Richardson, a teenage girl, is from Texas. This girl was not a girl around there. She was capable of sports. Because she was too good at everything, some people called her Monster, Big foot, It, etc. She used to like to be the tallest, swiftest, and strongest, but she began to downplay everything she did and cut it down size before anyone else could as she gets older. She was raised by great parents, and that let her be who she was. For example, he was shooting a Remington at prickly pear cactus with dad, climbing on a bucket to mount Snip and trot off with Dad to run the ranch, and rising at 4 a.m. to spend all day separating the cattle for weighing and shipping, and swallowing so much dust that she'd spit brown till tomorrow. • 4. Teenage Girls and Body Image Essay Teenage girls are at an impressionable time in their lives. Mass Media is a key idea in one of the factors of socialization that become important to teenagers. Teenagers look to the media for a sense of entertainment. Whether it is movies, magazines, or even some aspects of social media, teenagers get a lot of influence from the media's message. The problem with this is the media has a specific way of doing things and can be negative to a susceptible teenage girl. Media's way of portraying a woman can be skewed and unrealistic way from what reality is. Teenage girls then have a desire for this look or way. In this essay the three ways I will describe as to why the media can negatively affect a teenage girls body image is by showing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a study done of female beauty icons, two time frames were studied, 1959–1978 and 1979–1988. In the research, the women who were portrayed as beautiful, and the icons in the media, were observed and over half of them had fit into the standards of having one of the eating disorders, anorexia nervosa (Vonderen & Kinnally, 2012). Mass media can have an adverse effect teenage girls by showing body types that are unrealistic as the normal and desirable type of body to have. Young women look to the mass media to see the societal norms for beauty, and what they see can influence the way that they view themselves. By portraying women who possess a body type that is uncommon, it shows teenage girls that they need to change themselves to reflect the images they are shown. Portraying body types that emphasize thinness and exaggerated features, the mass media try to establish what is socially acceptable. Teenage girls who see this message feel pressured to become what they see, often not realizing that the body types portrayed in media are unrealistic. One reason mass media is so effective at portraying unrealistic body types as normal is because the mass media helps to set what is perceived as normal. In an article about the mass media's role in body image disturbance and eating disorders, J. Kevin Thompson and Leslie Heinberg state, "A sociocultural model emphasizes that the current societal standard for thinness, as well as other difficult–to–achieve standards of beauty ... • 5. Stereotypes Of Teenage Girls #1 There is many stereotypes given to both men and women that start to invade their minds at a very young age. Boys grow up being expected to be stone cold beasts, to be strong and very masculine. They are meant to stay away from doing anything that could be considered that is feminine or girly such as crying and expressing feelings in any situation. Girls don't have it any better they are the opposite, not supposed to be able to handle hands on things or be compatible with the majority of sports. /they are supposed to be spending all their time making themselves look prettier and skinnier as that is how they are supposed to be. Also just like men, women are treated worse if they act like the other sex and thus lead them down a worse life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... #4 I believe that our culture is driven by beauty as it is a thing everyone can see in themselves as it is on their skin. All of media can easily manipulate most people by portraying someone who is much better looking than the average viewer and state that "even you can look like this if you use our product" For some people, especially if they are feeling vulnerable that day they will buy the product. There is also a beauty standard in life portrayed through reality tv. Mostly all reality tv shows show a unattainable quality of life. Just like beauty products people get attached to it and want to be who they see. And when they can't they go back to buying more products to match the unattainable. A vicious cycle then continues destroying someone's self ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Eating Disorders In Teenage Girls Today every girl wants to be "perfect" or be close to perfect. One of the requirements is to have a nice body. It is easy for any girl to reach this goal by changing their diet. Girls often have to deal with many different issues such as eating disorders, low–self esteem, body image issues and so on. Many of these issues are influenced by all the advertisement on social media. Some girls are not aware of the consequences that they will have to face after "fixing" their bodies. There are different ways teen girls harm their bodies such as eating and then purging which is called bulimia nervosa. Another eating disorder is starvation which is known as anorexia nervosa. • 9. The Influence Of Body Image Of Teenage Girls How would you feel if you were being manipulated on your body image, rather than your talent, and beauty? Beauty is skin deep, but in the understanding of fashion industries, modeling businesses they believe that beauty is physical appearance. Fashion industries, modeling businesses are more than just clothing and making young teenage girls lives better. In fact, every teenage girl who is interacting with the fashion world is often being manipulated to look a certain way. • 10. Stereotypes Of Teenage Girls Introduction We may not think or believe it ourselves, but the media is constantly ruling a huge part of our lives and how we socially interact with others. Over many years it has created many stereotypes and it shows quite a false representation of teenage girls. But firstly what in fact is representation? Or stereotypes? Representation Representation is the process by which the media present us to the 'real ' world and how they re– present something back to us. For a huge number of us the media is a main source for us to understand the world around us. Stereotypes A stereotype can be what we call an inaccurate ideology. It is targeted at a specific group or individual such as teenage girls. An ideology is the beliefs, ideas and values that are emboldened by the media. For example we believe we think that we know what the ambitions are for most teen girls; popularity, partying, pretty and BOYS!!! But actually this is only what the media's representation of teen girls that has caused this ideological stereotype of girls and their relational ambitions. Stereotypes that the media has produced has shaped society as we know it. We are constantly surrounded by television social media advertisements and all things media attempt to capture our attention. Even though I was a role model to the underclassmen, had an "ideal" body figure, was dating one of the football players, and was enrolled in 2 AP classes; it was not what it's all cracked up to be. Cheerleading got very stressful. A lot of drama and stress was added to the team as the years went on and as cheerleaders joined and left the team. Throughout all of that, I was awarded "Varsity Most Dedicated". I was not only extremely dedicated to my team but also to my academics at school as well as the Nursing Assistant class that I was enrolled in at Waukesha County Technical College. Her awkward and unique personality always plays out a different outcome then normal teenage girls. Cody is Alyssa's neighbor. The arm around the shoulder progresses into Cody throwing Alyssa onto his lap to get a perfect view of her face. Alyssa's awkward personality comes out when she keeps asking question if it's okay for him to be this friendly to her. She also refuses at first the kiss multiple times from being anxious. Finally, Cody pressures Alyssa into the first kiss, and well it didn't go as planned. A sloppy peck led Alyssa to frantically get off of Cody and head to the bathroom. She looks at herself in the mirror and realizes that she just had her first kiss. Shortly after, her stomach becomes upset from her mini panic attack before and after the first kiss. People tell women that they cannot be the CEO of the world's largest company or the President of the United States because it is a "man's job." Clementine von Radics' poem, "For Teenage Girls," emphasizes the sexism imposed on girls from a young age and how women of history have proven the prejudice against women wrong. • 14. The Victimization of Teenage Girls What does it mean to be a girl according to society? How does society see it? In many countries, a girl is seen as powerless, uneducated, and too emotional to handle a man's job. For example, women in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to drive. In the past, writers used to describe a woman's role as the victim of many forms of discrimination in the United States of America. In other words, women were only involved in things that men thought were not important. For instance, women did not have any other role than being a housewife. They had to stay at home, watch the children, be responsible, and do all the chores. Nonetheless, American women got their freedom earlier comparing to other countries in the world. Kerry Cohen, as a practicing psychotherapist and writing teacher, provides in her book different resources and website where teen girls can get more information about these symptoms. Another second reason why teen girls are victimized is the culture of this society. Teen girls are told to be princesses when they are small. However when they are grown up they are told by their parents that they are too young to use inappropriate cloth. When they go out and meet other teens who wear sexy cloths, they are getting mixed feeling about it. Another example is when they watch TV they see girls in sexy cloths and they automatically think that it is right. The TV uses girls in bikinis to attract the audience. Even more, when teen girls go to school, they want to "fit" in their group of friends by wearing the same cloths because that is what they make them seem "cool." Therefore, how they are seen by others is more important than anything. Image comes first. They must do anything to "fit in the Cinderella's shoe." Likewise, on the short story, 'Where Are You Going, Where have You Been" written by Joyce Carol Oates, Connie wants attention at all costs. She enjoys when men are looking at her. Connie's mother never agrees with her that she is beautiful. Instead, Connie's mother criticizes her and compares her with June, her older sister. • 15. Teenage Girls I'm not going to hang out with these girls, they aren't popular, and they don't get invited to anything. To begin, they only want to hang out with all the popular kids; because they are "cool", and only wear the new popular style of clothes because everyone else is. In fact, some girls wonder everyday if they are good enough to fit in, or if they can talk or hang out with certain groups. Girls are always wondering if their peers accept them. Talking with boys is also another thing teen girls do that cause them to stress, it's hard especially if you can't even talk to any other people, not knowing if you're good enough. Although teen girls are supposed to always be happy, there are many problems girls now face, that I think can easily be resolved, like being self conscious, being a follower, and wanting to only hang out with "popular" kids. To begin, teenage girls face too much stress due to a fairly good amount of issues with their self confidence. For example, some girls care about how they look; girls think they should always wear the clothes that are "in style" and are the most expensive, or even just considered "cool". Another thing worry about is determining if they are popular. Instead of wondering about things a normal kid would think about, girls wonder if they are good enough to fit in a certain group, and if they did fit in, who all likes them. Abortion a Problem for Teenage Girls Abortion a problem for teenage girls The purpose of this essay is to bring awareness to the medical procedure of abortion, which is a very dangerous procedure that needs to be solved. The target audience is those teenage girls that are deciding to abort using irrelevant procedures. This problem is an increasing trend that is affecting younger and younger girls as time passes due to poor sex education involvement in schools, and family discussions. Cumberland, as well as Olukoya & Kaya approach the problem of abortion based on education programs available, how these programs might help parents understand the situation of their daughters, and how they can help them make the right decision. Also, the second solution to undecided abortions is to telling relative girls trust in order to receive emotional or economic assistance. This solution is really good when the communication within the family is good, but it's not the best solution to the problem. The reason for this is because sometimes family members can have emotional conflicts, and they might not take the idea of pregnancy positively. This can affect the girl's decision because their feelings are dependent on their background; they can feel shyness, fear, or anger towards the idea of pregnancy. Additionally, girls can end up killing the baby and themselves because they were not aware of the correct precautions to take when aborting. The Diary Of A Teenage Girl The film version of Diary of a Teenage Girl, rather than condemning patriarchal privilege and its attendant exploitations as the book does, is instead a very careful take on a young 's girl 's exploration of her sexuality. The film and the book share the same premise but ultimately differ on delivery due to their inherently different approaches to capturing Minnie's life as her and the other characters are portrayed differently, so much so that is a cautious take on an otherwise un–barred novel. Rather than touching upon patriarchal privilege and its exploitations, the film smooths over many of the more intense aspects in order to create a happy ending for itself, which is fundamentally different than what the book intended. "The Diary of a Teenage Girl" is based on the popular graphic novel by Phoebe Gloeckner published in 2002 and written as well as directed by Marielle Heller. • 36. Ethical Dilemma in the News: Plan B for Teenage Girls... As of recently, the approval of the emergency contraceptive Plan B, for the use of girls as young as fifteen years old has stirred up quite some controversy (Belluck, 2013). Those who oppose it cite the diminishing moral values that this would impose on an already increasingly secular society. These individuals believe that having access to such a powerful substance would encourage young girls to engage in sexual promiscuity without any fear of repercussion (Belluck, 2013). However, proponents of this new law argue that giving full access to fifteen year old girls would discourage them from becoming pregnant at such an early age and gives them the opportunity to make wise decisions about their bodies. Aside from the two strongly opposing sides to this dilemma, the actual nature of the dilemma stems from the ease with which these young girls would be able to access the emergency contraceptive drug. Before the new law came into place, the emergency contraceptive was only available through the prescription of a doctor and could only be accessed through a pharmacist (Aleccia, 2013). With the new law, anyone fifteen or older would be able to access and purchase the drug over–the–counter.
