Central Idea: Today I will be telling you what the animals mean to the people, what to do to prepare for the new year, and what you do on the days of
the new year.
Introduction
I)Have you even eaten at a Chinese restaurant and see twelve animals either on your place mat or on a poster on the wall?
A)This is because the Chinese use this twelve–animal calendar which is based on an ancient Chinese Calendar.
II)Instead of using their birth months for their zodiac they use their birth year.

What Is The Mid-Autumn Festival Essay

One of my experience happened on 20th September 2013, the day when I celebrated the Mid–Autumn Festival. I had no idea about the Mid–Autumn

start of the New Moon. Even though it lasts 15 to 23 days, the Chinese just get the first 3 days off and make up for it by working two weekends prior

Celebrations always run from the evening before the first day of New Year, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month.
Spring Festival is celebrated in those countries and territories with significant Chinese populations, including Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong,
Macau, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mauritius, and the Philippines (Chinese New Year). It seems to be a traditional Chinese

ECFS 200Childhood Reflection Assignment I grew up in a small town in Eastern Washington close to the Idaho border. Being the first born, I spent
my childhood years mostly at home and at my parents' restaurant. I pretty much grew up in the restaurant; the employees that have been there since
the beginning are basically my second family. I would spend most of my time in the restaurant while my parents worked, doing math problems or

are three general temperaments: the "easy children", the "difficult children", and the "slow to warm up" (2016a). I feel like I grew up being in two

Marriage is also like insurance. There is an actually marriage market in Shanghai. This is where parents shop for a spouse for their child. The
parents will place on a board the child's "credentials" since as degrees, skills, height, and also a picture. So other parents would literally shop around

The festival of Chinese New Year last fifteen days, with each day having a different theme and sets of activities to do. The first day is the beginning
of the new year and the beginning of spring. In the morning, families will first light firecrackers to ward off evil spirits, before going out to visit the

Chinese New Year is the fifteenth day of the lunisolar calendar; this calendar method is based on the moons orbiting around the earth, while our
calendar is based on the earth orbiting around the sun. The Lunar New Yearfalls on the first new moon between January twenty first and February
twentieth . It has been a tradition for centuries that it began back in the fourteenth century B.C. The mythology behind the Chinese New Yearis that it
started with a beast called Nian that was menacing the village, so the villagers put food in front their houses to try to stop Nian from eating the
villagers. The myth says that someone wanted to confront and take revenge on Nian so a god told him to put red outside their doors and to set off

and what meaning it holds. Many cultural events are celebrated worldwide from various cultural groups. It is always better to put hands on hands and

Most of us celebrate our New Year in the month of January. It is the first day of the following year whereas Chinese New Year is based on the

February 19th and it will end on 5th March. Chinese New Year is affiliated with the Chinese Zodiac Sign. The sign represents animals such as

I felt frustrated during Chinese New Year. I missed the holidays that I used to have back inMalaysia, I missed the "Ang Paos" that provide me fortune,
and I also missed my family and friends in Malaysia.

lucrative gains. This deterioration leads to tensions between the family members, mostly the father and Fred Eng, and emphasizes the opposite view
of Chinese American. While the father desires to embrace the old tradition, stay in Chinatown and see his son manage the family business, Fred's
desire is to be a writer and leave this place which remembers him a lot of bad
