The Importance Of Overseas Work Assignment
Overseas Work Assignments Organizations that aspire to be leaders within their industries must consider the global market and expanding outside of
their domestic markets. Expanding outside of the domestic market allows access to new customers, resources, and capabilities. Organizations can also
gain access to inputs of production at a lower cost. The core competencies of the organization can be further exploited through the expansion. Lower
costs can be achieved through economies of scale, experience, and the increase of purchasing power (book). An organization based company would
choose to relocate an employee to Canada.
Factors
There are several factors that must be considered when preparing an employee for an overseas assignment. The most important out of all of these
factors is ensuring the employee is prepared to interact with difficult cultures. The employee must have the appropriate interpersonal skills and cultural
tolerance (SHRM). This factor is important because social sensitivity and communication skills are essential in a new working environment. The
employee must know about the Canadian culture to ensure they do not offend anyone. Canada is an English speaking country and therefore foreign
language assistance may not be needed. Employees prefer to be relocated to English speaking countries (Chamberlain, 2013). More research can be
done on this factor for effectiveness. Organizations need to know the best ways to provide this preparation in the most cost

U.s Overseas Military Presence Activities
"Our working definition of US overseas military presence is that it consists of all the US military assets in overseas areas that are engaged in relatively
routine, regular, non–combat activities or functions.1 By this definition, forces that are located overseas may or may not be engaging in presence
activities. If they are engaging in combat (such as Operation Enduring Freedom), or are involved in a one–time non–combat action (such as an
unscheduled carrier battle group deployment from the United States aimed at calming or stabilizing an emerging crisis situation), then they are not
engaging in presence activities. Thus, an asset that is located (or present) overseas may or may not be "engaged in presence activities," may or may
not be "doing presence." We have thus far defined presence activities chiefly in "negative" terms–what they are not. In more positive terms, what
exactly are presence activities, i.e., what do presence activities actually entail doing? Overseas military presence activities are generally viewed as a
subset of the overall class of activities that the US government uses in its efforts to promote important military/security objectives [Dismukes, 1994]. A
variety of recurrent, overseas military activities are normally placed under the "umbrella" concept of military presence. These include but are not
limited to US military efforts overseas to train foreign militaries; to improve inter–operability of US and friendly forces; to peacefully and visibly

Reasons For Overseas Imperialism
What were the motives behind US overseas imperialism?
There are many different motives when it comes to the US seeking overseas imperialism. The main motives I found during this reading was
competition and expansion. I also found that the expansion category could be best explained if broken down into the three sub categories of military
expansion, market and trade expansion, and finally expansion in the terms of spreading the US ideologies and culture throughout the world. The US
felt the need to compete with its European counterparts, but the US had very different reasons for wanting imperialist expansions overseas. Europe
wanted one big empire in which each colony's resources would help benefit the main empire. The US however believed in ... Show more content on

There was debate on the behalf of the US about whether or not to actually take the Philippines and ultimately the US did decide to take it. Albert
Beveridge who supported imperialism and helped persuade this decision by saying that the Philippines would be the first step in the expansion of
the American empire and would untimely lead to trading in the east. Even though the US legally had the Philippines the Filipinos did not want the
US taking over their land. A Filipino war leader named Emili Aguinaldo tried to work out some type of independence agreement with the US but to
no avail. As a result, Philippine rebels grew and revolted against American rule. The US's plan was to first secure the Philippines from the rebels
before taking over things like trade and culture. The US claimed they wanted to help civilize the Philippines and bring God to them. Then US began
taking parts of the Philippines and moving further and further inland destroying any rebels in their path. It soon became very clear to the rebels that
the US had far more weapons and superior combat skills. In response the rebels saw no other option then to shift to guerilla warfare. America then too
changed to much harsher tactics in order to try and secure the Philippines. Since Guerrilla warfare used a "unity of action" the US responded by almost
wiping out entire populations and burning down villages. To the US the Filipino's were nothing more then people of color; which had no meaning to
the America at this time. This war also brought about the Anti–Imperialist league who tried to unveil the horrific facts of what happened in the
Philippines to the American public. Meanwhile the US began focusing on key rebel areas almost like key targets in tern massacring thousands of
Filipinos. The book used an example of one battle where the US fired 500 pound shells into the rebel's trenches. By the end of

Overseas Chinese and Chinese People Essay
American–Chinese America is a nation consisting of people from different areas with multiple cultures. As a result, lots of Americans have their
ancestors in other countries. Even though they are called "Americans", they have a special identity, that is, hyphenated Americans actually.
Chinese–Americans have been one of the large groups of hyphenated Americans since a long time ago. This passage mainly observes the living
conditions of Chinese–Americans in America and tries to analyze how the hyphenation identity impacts their thoughts and life. The first section gives a
brief introduction about Chinese–American, including its history and construction. Then the passage unpacks their living conditions, such as careers,

for Chinatown to catch up with the modern pace. (Irwin & Genthe, 2010, pp. 137) Although divided into two parts, the two groups both have the
common identity. That is, hyphenated American. As a hyphenated American, one of the most common scenes they have to face up is discrimination
and hostility from some natives. Chinese people seem to have nothing in common with natives: different beliefs, different habits and different culture.
People can not deny the fact that Chinese–Americans have gains as well as loss influenced by the special identity. (Sowell, 2011, pp.244) First of all,
the hyphenated American identity confuses some traditional Chinese–Americans. It is hard for some old Chinese immigrants to accept the hyphenated
identity since they are still Chinese people in their deep mind. At the same time, most ideas and concepts, as well as daily habits, are difficult for
traditional immigrants to be used to. The novel Scrapping (Wang, 2000) has presented the conflicts in an extreme way. Scrapping is a kind of

The Success Of An Overseas Business Venture
When a company is conducting business internationally, understanding the culture of the country or region, it is doing business with, as well as
making sure the business fits the culture where it is doing business, is extremely important. Not understanding the culture could mean that the product
or service affects the competitiveness, marketing, and could even have some political ramifications. An understanding of the country's language,
attitudes and beliefs, religion, material culture, social education, legal characteristics, and political structures can have a positive impact on the
success of an overseas business venture. In order to run a successful international business, a business manager must also become a student of
culture and diversity. Before choosing a global market to sell a product or service, a company needs to make sure that the product or service is a
good fit for the culture. It is important to know if the product or service is something that the culture of the country would need or want. As an
example, if a company sells cowboy hats, they are not likely to be very successful in a country where the culture and religion requires the people to
wear turbans. Knowing the culture and its religions is important when choosing a country for as a global market. To be successful, a company will
want to know that its product or service will sell, and being successful in the United States does not necessarily mean that a product or service will do

The Pros And Cons Of Overseas Expansion
In the years following the Civil War, several developments that came with the second Industrial Revolution fueled the nation's urge for overseas
expansion. Many Americans approved of overseas expansion, believing that the superior and exceptional United States functioned as an "international
policeman," and therefore had an obligation to civilize other countries, including the Philippines, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, those who
criticized overseas expansion believed that it violated the traditional American ideals of democracy and peace, and that the United States should focus
more on the problems within the country. While the supporters and opponents of overseas expansion had entirely different views from each other, they
were alike in that they both based their beliefs on the role of the country as an emerging power and its national identity. The supporters of overseas
expansion were nothing if not nationalistic. They believed that the United States was so prosperous that its central mission should be to help other
"lesser" countries. A prominent example of this is the acquisition of the Philippines, where the United States believed the Filipinos needed American
intervention because they were "unfit for self–government" (Document 3). The supporters regarded the role of the United States as an emerging world
power and based their beliefs towards overseas expansion off of this. Using this logic, supporters of overseas expansion, including Theodore Roosevelt,

although the military is a defense department it fights wars that will solve the situation not begin problems.
Resources in battle are key elements used, although the assets can be taken for better use in our home country to use as protection. Sources suggest that
the amount of ammunition being used overseas, is a great amount that is not necessary. The battles we face in overseas military operations, are mostly
irrelevant to our country or problems we have discovered. Other resources such as tanks, nuclear weapons, rifles and pistols, machine guns, grenades,
and more, are things that in our country stationed armed forces could use. Our country deals with threats inside the country daily. Many terrorists or

Overseas With The Norwalk Virus
Kristine Bryson
Overseas with the Norwalk Virus The Norwalk virus is part of a group called the Noroviruses and caliciruses. It is known to cause gastroenteritis,
infection within food, food poisoning, and even the short lived nonbacterial gastroenteritis. It can spread from contaminated water and infected foods.
It can even spread anywhere, even on a cruise ship. A pleasant vacation may have some passengers choosing to jump ship, if the Norwalk virus is a
passenger on board.
The virus has received its name from its birth in Norwalk Ohio. It was responsible for a short term outbreak of gastroenteritis occurring in the students
of Bronson elementary school in November of 1968. It wasn't until 1972 the virus was examined and received its name as the Norwalk virus. Since
its known birth, there have been many outbreaks with similar symptoms reported. It is believed the virus may belong to the family Caliciviridae. The
Norwalk virus is actually part of a group of single–stranded RNA, non–enveloped viruses. Once a person is infected with the virus it begins to copy
itself within small intestines. The symptoms would develop between 12 and 48 hours and tend to last 1–3 days.
In reality, the viruses from the Caliciviridae cause nearly 18% of all the short term gastroenteritis cases worldwide. The Norwalk virus is responsible
for the small scale outbreaks that occur on cruise ships. Unfortunately, people who have been infected by the virus can spread it directly to other people

Overseas Suitable Screening Case Study
Every year approximately seven percent of Marines issued overseas orders are ultimately declared ineligible for their assignment through Overseas
Suitability Screening (OSS).1 This seven percent often becomes an issue for Manpower Management (MM) to replace because overseas screening
can take upwards of two months, particularly when families are involved. The ineligibility is not typically finalized until very late in the slating
process, too far into the move cycle for another Marine to complete overseas screening in the same cycle. This scenario often ends without a
replacement for the original Marine and results in a gapped billet at the overseas command. These gapped billets degrade the capabilities of our
forward deployed commands and put unnecessary stress on the Marines in those commands. A few simple changes would significantly reduce the
frequency of this happening every year. The start of overseas screening should be moved as early as possible within the slating process and a time limit
should be created for the process to be completed. Furthermore, the Marine Corps should increase the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How To Move Overseas
There are many skills and aspects that we can gain by going overseas for a period of time. I would cover the areas that I believe are more important to

the language, and understanding the perspective of individuals on the society. At the beginning it would be hard to obtain my goals, but with

the book as, "The intercultural experience widens perceptions and broadens constructs, so the person is less myopic in the homeland and more

The International Marketer Of Overseas Markets
Culture is the most significant factor which should be taken into account by the international marketer in overseas markets. Culture is based on history,
nation, religious and social value. Understanding cultural difference is important and the sign which is relevant to cultural feature is vital to
international communication (Usunier, Lee, 2009). The sign incorporates products, brand, advertisements and the behaviours of customer (Fred, 1996).
For instance, some cultures are related to specific products, 'Tee culture' in China, 'Beer culture' in Germany. Thus, marketers need to learn and
understand the different culture in order to do the global communication (Keegan, Green, 2008).
According to Maslow's 'hierarchy of needs', the human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The international marketers who prefer standard IMC in global markets hold the view that global service and commodity become more homogeneous
across different cultures and some overseas markets have the more similar economic and political environment, customers' requirements do not totally
differ in overseas markets as well (Demetris, 2009). Namely, because of the similarity, marketers can adopt the standardised communication to overseas
markets. For instance, US, UK, Canadian and western European markets have the similar economic and social circumstance (Szymanski, Sundar and
Rajan, 1993), customers in those markets are almost educated who have the similar perceptions or have the similar reaction to the marketing strategy.
Thus, international marketer who uses the standardised marketing communication method to those overseas markets is appropriate.
In addition, global media consumption or the adoption of global lifestyles makes it easy to accept the standard global advertisement or other
communication tool. For example, when customers travel around the world, if they see the same international brands which they prefer in their own
country, they are willing to see the advertisements which remain the same image in their mind. Otherwise, they will feel confused about the global
brands. Furthermore, the quality of the product can be represented by the country of the region with the standard marketing communication. For

Barron (2005: 355) has pointed to the extent to which most universities have designated international departments responsible for marketing and
recruitment, but goes on to highlight the need to ensure that such students are properly supported after arrival, providing evidence to suggest that this
does not always happen, leading to frustration and disappointment. A recent report by the Higher Education Policy Institute (Bekhradnia et al., 2006)
confirms this, suggesting that non–EU overseas respondents were considerably less satisfied than others with the value for money received on their
course. Against this background, it is clearly important for universities to understand what students value in their university experience, including those
from overseas. It has been common practice for many years for higher education institutions to provide opportunities for students to evaluate their
learning and teaching experience, typically in the form of end–of–semester or end–of–course evaluations. Many institutions also gain feedback from
students about services such as the library or computing. A recent addition to these information sources in the UK has been the NationalStudent

Overseas Trade Influence
How did overseas travel and trade influence taste and design in the eighteenth century? Refer to specific movements in your response.
The 18th century is known today as the 'European age of Enlightenment' due to Europe's change in political values, scientific advances and
philosophical views. The 18th century was a time that was very much influenced by class and wealth. Social classes were clearly recognizable due to
the taste in which one had. This had an effect on art and music as it had to adapt to societies new fondness for overseas trends. The 18th century is
said to be the time in which Britain found itself amongst the rest of Europe as artists created their own unique way of working with influences from

This Movement was inspired by the classical arts of Rome and Greece. In the mid 18th–centurty it had spread throughout Europe and had surpassed the
well–known trends at the time. Moving on from the lavish and in some ways over the top designs that were prominent in early 18th century,
Neoclassical arts were said to be a far more logical and tasteful approach to art. This meant that the uncontrolled need for colours and lavish designs
was dying out and people were starting to adapt to a mature and simplistic taste. Greek artifacts were the main inspiration at the time for Neoclassicism
and it quickly became the new architectural styles used by governments due to clear link to Roman and Greek democratic society's. This is clearly
portrayed in iconic structures such as The White House which was built in the late 1700's and Arc De Triomphe in Paris. Neoclassicism was first
brought to England by wealthy young students who had studied abroad in Rome. Breaking away from more emotional themes, Neoclassical art is said
to be un–emotional and cold when in actual fact numerous paintings depicted a person full of courage and sacrifice. Artists who followed this
movement aimed for symmetry and proportion. Composition and accurate detail was an important detail for artists when working this way.
Mythological scenes were still produced however they had realistic, contemporary theme to them. Archeology

Overseas Listing Of Mainland Chinese Companies
Young Le ENGL 100: Writing about America and Globalization Prof. Elizabeth McKinsey November 18, 2014 From Sick Men to Strong Lions:
Overseas Listing of Mainland Chinese Companies 1.Introduction As Mainland Chinese companies develop, innovate, and grow, China has become one
of the superpowers in the world. Traditional state–owned businesses introduced private capital to break up state monopolies and became joint ventures
to solve the potential management issues. In this way, Chinese companies were transformed from "sick men", as westerners once described them, to
"strong lions", reflecting westerners' updated impression of China. Simultaneously, emerging companies entered the domestic market quickly due to
their pre–eminent technology and unparalleled innovation. However, currently, all Chinese companies face one huge problem–lack of capital. Thanks
to the advancement of the worldwide financial market, especially that of stock exchanges, Chinese leading firms have the chance to propose IPOs
(initial public offerings), and acquire a significant amount of domestic and foreign investment for future development. Moreover, companies can
further expand their capital in various ways, including initiating secondary market offerings and introducing private funding. In this sense, not only
does an IPO generate capital for the company, but it also enables the company to acquire prolific capital, as long as the company operates profitably,
and is able to attract investors. Therefore,

Effects of Outsourcing Jobs to Overseas
Because of outsourcing jobs to overseas many American workers lost their jobs or compelled to work for much less compensation. This trend leads to
the shrinkage of middle class income bracket and the reduction of the family's standard of living. Besides, due to the elusive future employment status
and the financial problems, many people have to live hand to mouth, and many more have to cut their expenditures in order to survive this dreadful and
unpleasant situation. More importantly, the reduction in spending money and the deterioration of consumer confidence can hurt the economy severely
and exacerbate the situation.
Reich in his article "Why Rich are Getting Richer and the Poor, Poorer" divides the U.S. professions into three major categories: routine producers,
in–person servers and symbolic analysts and described the process and likelihood of outsourcing these professions.
Routine producers such as manufacturers are the ones in the real risk of losing their jobs as a result of outsourcing since the technological
advancements have put them in positions that they have to compete with millions of routine workers in other nations who are willing to work for a
much lower wage than their counterparts in America. Therefore, the majority of U.S. routine jobs have moved to the emerging economies. As an
example, around late 1970s the famous telecommunication company AT&T had a telephone set assembly line in Shreveport, LA. But, later they found

was eager to meet them and glad I have the chance to visit my father's parents. My grandma was very sweet and nice she gave me a 24–karat gold
necklace with the heart pendant made of jade additionally eight different outfits. I remember to try all those outfits, it was very exhausting. They
took a lot of pictures and I even pose for them, I was like a model. My grandpa did not talk too much, but I always remember he told me I was lucky
that I have a great dad. My mom lets me stay with my grandparents for two weeks. My grandma spoiled me by cooking my favorite dishes, spending
time at my grandparent house was incredible, especially I can play with their dog, Money. Within two weeks my grandparents took me to various
places and restaurants. One of my favorite places was Ocean Park, which is like Sea World. Ocean Park was a fun amusement park they had a
roller coaster, different performance performs such as singing and dancing, and my favorite was the dolphin show. Watching them perform were
incredible they can do all kinds of tricks, flips and especially splashing the audience. The only thing was disappointed I could not ride the roller
coasters because I was not tall enough to ride in them. My grandma walked to the ice cream parlor and bought an ice cream cone to cheer me up.

Reasons For Overseas Exploration
In Europe, there was widespread support for overseas exploration, from three groups of people. The European rulers supported the voyages
financially because they hoped the explorers would bring back precious metals and materials that could be sold and used to aid them in war. Along
with the leaders, European traders hoped for benefits from the explorations such as, gaining precious trade goods and new suitable land for growing
and selling crops, all with a high profit in mind. The final group of supporters were the religious leaders. They believed that through expansion, many
new people would be available for conversion to Christianity. Also, they hoped that the missionaries might be able get in touch with an ally against the

Imagine one day that foreign threats become such a problem to the security of our country that we couldn't leave the house without fearing for the
safety of yourself. Terrorism is a real issue that is growing every day and should be something that should be stopped and not encouraged Everyday
countries are home to terrorist attacks and oppression. It's up to us as a super power to protect these people. Why not beat the problem at its source

many of the countries overseas harbor terrorists that want to take down our country, they don't have a strong form of government that is reliable and

Disadvantages Of Overseas Study
In recent years, there has been a growing trend toward studying abroad among young people. While some choose to stay in their comfort zone and
finish the education in their motherland, others take on the opportunity and go study oversea. Although overseas study has its drawbacks, the problems
are outnumbered by far by the positive aspects.
The most obvious advantage to overseas study is real–life use of a different language. While people can study a foreign language in their own country,
it cannot compare with constant use of the language in academic and daily life. There is no better opportunity to improve second–language skills than
by living in the country in which the language is spoken. Moreover, if young adults have used a particular language during their studies, this offers a
distinct advantage when they are applying for jobs back home that require the language. Living ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and work in the host country because they find that it has much more to offer them rather than working in their motherland this is one of the reason
that lead to brain drain. However, some disadvantages from study abroad cannot be underestimated. For instant, some of which are getting involved in

International Textile Garment and Leather Workers' Federation condemns their use of overseas sweatshops. Goods manufactured in Sri Lanka,
Indonesia, and many other Asian and African countries are often made in less–than–ideal conditions for low wages. While opponents of overseas labor
champion stricter trading laws, this form of supply–and–demand economics remains a vital part of the global economy, as it enables prices to remain

By deciding what a foreign government should deem acceptable in the workplace, outsiders are interfering with the leader's ability to rule his own

labor laws is a gross human rights violation. The contrary is true, actually, as the deaths of the workers better the lives of others by making work
positions available and decreasing the competition for resources. Cases amplified by the media, including the Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire are
anomalies anyhow, and accidents are bound to happen no matter the environment. Many developed countries also have sweatshops, but most of the
workers are illegal immigrants who do not belong taking jobs meant for tax–paying citizens. They deserve to have to work long, grueling hours, as their

Discuss the Impact of Overseas Outsourcing Essay
In researching this subject it seems that outsourcing work overseas has a positive and negative effect on the US economy for a few different
reasons. The most important I feel is taking the jobs away from the people in the United States. As we all know, especially at this time, jobs are not
easy to find. There are some people that are under qualified for jobs available in the US that these jobs we are outsourcing could be done by these under
qualified individuals. Companies' main reason for this is to cut costs and save money. The conditions of the manufacturers in these foreign countries
are known to not be the very best either. Sweatshops and having young children work for little money is how some of these manufacturers are able to ...

The most populace countries in the world, China and India, seem to be the two countries tapped into most for outsourcing. I'm pretty sure everyone
has called into a call center at least once and reached some Indian person on the other end. The language barrier is evident. This has an impact on the
level of quality service they can provide. "India appears to be a global business nightmare. People speak dozens of different languages throughout the
country. Getting around is a challenge due to a terrible infrastructure. Foreign companies must deal with tight regulations on investment, slow
bureaucratic culture, and the politics of family owned big– business. UPS delivery men, for example, must often ask for directions because there are no
street numbers. (Williams, 2010). This is a perfect example of what is going on in foreign countries with which we are outsourcing business too. A bit
scary if you ask me. Let's talk about a positive aspect of outsourcing business. "Contractual Obligation: The liability of a service provider is higher than
that of an in–house employee. This makes working with them a safer bet for businesses." At least you can be at ease that the people you are working
with overseas are well trained in the business that you are outsourcing.
All in all there are several different pros and cons to outsourcing or off shoring business to other countries. It looks and seems that saving money for
companies is the most important and

Benefits Of Moving Production Overseas
There continues to be a rise of organizations from the United States and other developing countries who are moving production overseas to developing
countries. At the outset the advantages of moving production overseas may seem obvious, multinational companies can capitalize on the competitive
advantage these countries offer in the form of inexpensive labor. However, this cost reduction can come at a high cost as different cultures may not
place a high value on the safety and wellbeing of their employees as companies due in developed countries, such as the United States.
Responsibility of Supply Chain
It is imperative for today's multi–national corporations to not only monitor supply channels for human rights violations but to act on those violations
and if necessary discontinue those business relationships. In the current global age, poor working conditions in a factory can become global news
almost instantaneously. For example, Asgary and Li (2014) tell the story explosion which happened in a Foxconn factory, killing four workers and
injuring several more (p. 665). This tragic accident in the plant may have gone unnoticed in the western world, except for the fact that this portion of
the facility created the Apple iPad. The accident now became international news, and the public outcry was significant. Asgary and Li (2014) said,
"Apple, the computer giant whose success largely rests on its positive corporate reputation, was hit by a boycott call from social media,

Overseas Animators Job Growth
The job growth of Multimedia Artists and Animators is growing at a very slow rate, due to the animation companies and studios hiring artists and
animators who work overseas. For those who are not exactly sure what a Multimedia Artist is or does. A Multimedia Artist/Animator is an artist who
creates "[2– Dimensional and 3–Dimensional] animation and visual effects for television, movies, video games, and other forms of media"
(www.bls.gov). This is one of the few drawbacks in this occupation. American animation companies and studios hire overseas animators, since overseas
animators work for a much lower price than American animators. This means the companies and studios save money. Also, the overseas animators

animation market" and to be in competition with American animators, and/or because, like American animators, overseas animators also enjoy
exercising their creativity, talents, computer–animation skills and fascinating story–telling skills when it comes to animated movies and video games
(Crosby). Also, another reason why the animation studios and companies are hiring overseas animators could possibly be the fact that "56.9% of
animators [are] self–employed" (Collegefortn.org). By animators adapting to this effective solution, American self–employed animators, who want to
begin their animation companies and studios, can come into collaboration with aspiring animators, employing teams of fellow animators. This would
bring more jobs and opportunities to American animators. And lastly, the reason why overseas animators are hired by American animation studios and
companies, is due to the fact that in the past decades animation studios have been sending unfinished animation work to overseas animators to
complete. As said by Tom Crosby, in an article of "How Stuff Works" titled "How Outscoring Works", "This isn't a new trend. It started decades ago
when Hollywood studios began sending pre–production work to lowered–priced, where the work was polished and completed." Once the independent
animators establish their own businesses and collaborate with their fellow aspiring animators, who embrace this effective solution, there wouldn't be
any unfinished artwork to send to overseas animators. Since all of the artwork would be completed on due time, by the animators of the companies,
there would not be any uncompleted or discarded artwork to send to overseas animators. This would bring about a faster pace in the job growth rate of

The Importance Of Overseas Work Assignment

  • 1. The Importance Of Overseas Work Assignment Overseas Work Assignments Organizations that aspire to be leaders within their industries must consider the global market and expanding outside of their domestic markets. Expanding outside of the domestic market allows access to new customers, resources, and capabilities. Organizations can also gain access to inputs of production at a lower cost. The core competencies of the organization can be further exploited through the expansion. Lower costs can be achieved through economies of scale, experience, and the increase of purchasing power (book). An organization based company would choose to relocate an employee to Canada. Factors There are several factors that must be considered when preparing an employee for an overseas assignment. The most important out of all of these factors is ensuring the employee is prepared to interact with difficult cultures. The employee must have the appropriate interpersonal skills and cultural tolerance (SHRM). This factor is important because social sensitivity and communication skills are essential in a new working environment. The employee must know about the Canadian culture to ensure they do not offend anyone. Canada is an English speaking country and therefore foreign language assistance may not be needed. Employees prefer to be relocated to English speaking countries (Chamberlain, 2013). More research can be done on this factor for effectiveness. Organizations need to know the best ways to provide this preparation in the most cost ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. U.s Overseas Military Presence Activities "Our working definition of US overseas military presence is that it consists of all the US military assets in overseas areas that are engaged in relatively routine, regular, non–combat activities or functions.1 By this definition, forces that are located overseas may or may not be engaging in presence activities. If they are engaging in combat (such as Operation Enduring Freedom), or are involved in a one–time non–combat action (such as an unscheduled carrier battle group deployment from the United States aimed at calming or stabilizing an emerging crisis situation), then they are not engaging in presence activities. Thus, an asset that is located (or present) overseas may or may not be "engaged in presence activities," may or may not be "doing presence." We have thus far defined presence activities chiefly in "negative" terms–what they are not. In more positive terms, what exactly are presence activities, i.e., what do presence activities actually entail doing? Overseas military presence activities are generally viewed as a subset of the overall class of activities that the US government uses in its efforts to promote important military/security objectives [Dismukes, 1994]. A variety of recurrent, overseas military activities are normally placed under the "umbrella" concept of military presence. These include but are not limited to US military efforts overseas to train foreign militaries; to improve inter–operability of US and friendly forces; to peacefully and visibly ... • 9. Reasons For Overseas Imperialism What were the motives behind US overseas imperialism? There are many different motives when it comes to the US seeking overseas imperialism. The main motives I found during this reading was competition and expansion. I also found that the expansion category could be best explained if broken down into the three sub categories of military expansion, market and trade expansion, and finally expansion in the terms of spreading the US ideologies and culture throughout the world. The US felt the need to compete with its European counterparts, but the US had very different reasons for wanting imperialist expansions overseas. Europe wanted one big empire in which each colony's resources would help benefit the main empire. The US however believed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was debate on the behalf of the US about whether or not to actually take the Philippines and ultimately the US did decide to take it. Albert Beveridge who supported imperialism and helped persuade this decision by saying that the Philippines would be the first step in the expansion of the American empire and would untimely lead to trading in the east. Even though the US legally had the Philippines the Filipinos did not want the US taking over their land. A Filipino war leader named Emili Aguinaldo tried to work out some type of independence agreement with the US but to no avail. As a result, Philippine rebels grew and revolted against American rule. The US's plan was to first secure the Philippines from the rebels before taking over things like trade and culture. The US claimed they wanted to help civilize the Philippines and bring God to them. Then US began taking parts of the Philippines and moving further and further inland destroying any rebels in their path. It soon became very clear to the rebels that the US had far more weapons and superior combat skills. In response the rebels saw no other option then to shift to guerilla warfare. America then too changed to much harsher tactics in order to try and secure the Philippines. Since Guerrilla warfare used a "unity of action" the US responded by almost wiping out entire populations and burning down villages. To the US the Filipino's were nothing more then people of color; which had no meaning to the America at this time. This war also brought about the Anti–Imperialist league who tried to unveil the horrific facts of what happened in the Philippines to the American public. Meanwhile the US began focusing on key rebel areas almost like key targets in tern massacring thousands of Filipinos. The book used an example of one battle where the US fired 500 pound shells into the rebel's trenches. By the end of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a result, lots of Americans have their ancestors in other countries. Even though they are called "Americans", they have a special identity, that is, hyphenated Americans actually. Chinese–Americans have been one of the large groups of hyphenated Americans since a long time ago. This passage mainly observes the living conditions of Chinese–Americans in America and tries to analyze how the hyphenation identity impacts their thoughts and life. The first section gives a brief introduction about Chinese–American, including its history and construction. Then the passage unpacks their living conditions, such as careers, consumption and... Along with the becoming of violent juntoes there, it is more difficult for Chinatown to catch up with the modern pace. (Irwin & Genthe, 2010, pp. 137) Although divided into two parts, the two groups both have the common identity. That is, hyphenated American. As a hyphenated American, one of the most common scenes they have to face up is discrimination and hostility from some natives. Chinese people seem to have nothing in common with natives: different beliefs, different habits and different culture. People can not deny the fact that Chinese–Americans have gains as well as loss influenced by the special identity. (Sowell, 2011, pp.244) First of all, the hyphenated American identity confuses some traditional Chinese–Americans. It is hard for some old Chinese immigrants to accept the hyphenated identity since they are still Chinese people in their deep mind. At the same time, most ideas and concepts, as well as daily habits, are difficult for traditional immigrants to be used to. The novel Scrapping (Wang, 2000) has presented the conflicts in an extreme way. Scrapping is a kind of treatment in Chinese. However, it has been regarded as children abuse in America. • 11. The Success Of An Overseas Business Venture When a company is conducting business internationally, understanding the culture of the country or region, it is doing business with, as well as making sure the business fits the culture where it is doing business, is extremely important. Not understanding the culture could mean that the product or service affects the competitiveness, marketing, and could even have some political ramifications. An understanding of the country's language, attitudes and beliefs, religion, material culture, social education, legal characteristics, and political structures can have a positive impact on the success of an overseas business venture. In order to run a successful international business, a business manager must also become a student of culture and diversity. Before choosing a global market to sell a product or service, a company needs to make sure that the product or service is a good fit for the culture. It is important to know if the product or service is something that the culture of the country would need or want. As an example, if a company sells cowboy hats, they are not likely to be very successful in a country where the culture and religion requires the people to wear turbans. Knowing the culture and its religions is important when choosing a country for as a global market. To be successful, a company will want to know that its product or service will sell, and being successful in the United States does not necessarily mean that a product or service will do well in other ... • 12. The Pros And Cons Of Overseas Expansion In the years following the Civil War, several developments that came with the second Industrial Revolution fueled the nation's urge for overseas expansion. Many Americans approved of overseas expansion, believing that the superior and exceptional United States functioned as an "international policeman," and therefore had an obligation to civilize other countries, including the Philippines, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. Meanwhile, those who criticized overseas expansion believed that it violated the traditional American ideals of democracy and peace, and that the United States should focus more on the problems within the country. While the supporters and opponents of overseas expansion had entirely different views from each other, they were alike in that they both based their beliefs on the role of the country as an emerging power and its national identity. The supporters of overseas expansion were nothing if not nationalistic. They believed that the United States was so prosperous that its central mission should be to help other "lesser" countries. A prominent example of this is the acquisition of the Philippines, where the United States believed the Filipinos needed American intervention because they were "unfit for self–government" (Document 3). The supporters regarded the role of the United States as an emerging world power and based their beliefs towards overseas expansion off of this. It is known to cause gastroenteritis, infection within food, food poisoning, and even the short lived nonbacterial gastroenteritis. It can spread from contaminated water and infected foods. It can even spread anywhere, even on a cruise ship. A pleasant vacation may have some passengers choosing to jump ship, if the Norwalk virus is a passenger on board. The virus has received its name from its birth in Norwalk Ohio. It was responsible for a short term outbreak of gastroenteritis occurring in the students of Bronson elementary school in November of 1968. It wasn't until 1972 the virus was examined and received its name as the Norwalk virus. Since its known birth, there have been many outbreaks with similar symptoms reported. It is believed the virus may belong to the family Caliciviridae. The Norwalk virus is actually part of a group of single–stranded RNA, non–enveloped viruses. Once a person is infected with the virus it begins to copy itself within small intestines. The symptoms would develop between 12 and 48 hours and tend to last 1–3 days. In reality, the viruses from the Caliciviridae cause nearly 18% of all the short term gastroenteritis cases worldwide. Overseas Suitable Screening Case Study Every year approximately seven percent of Marines issued overseas orders are ultimately declared ineligible for their assignment through Overseas Suitability Screening (OSS).1 This seven percent often becomes an issue for Manpower Management (MM) to replace because overseas screening can take upwards of two months, particularly when families are involved. The ineligibility is not typically finalized until very late in the slating process, too far into the move cycle for another Marine to complete overseas screening in the same cycle. This scenario often ends without a replacement for the original Marine and results in a gapped billet at the overseas command. These gapped billets degrade the capabilities of our forward deployed commands and put unnecessary stress on the Marines in those commands. A few simple changes would significantly reduce the frequency of this happening every year. Traditional state–owned businesses introduced private capital to break up state monopolies and became joint ventures to solve the potential management issues. In this way, Chinese companies were transformed from "sick men", as westerners once described them, to "strong lions", reflecting westerners' updated impression of China. Simultaneously, emerging companies entered the domestic market quickly due to their pre–eminent technology and unparalleled innovation. However, currently, all Chinese companies face one huge problem–lack of capital. Thanks to the advancement of the worldwide financial market, especially that of stock exchanges, Chinese leading firms have the chance to propose IPOs (initial public offerings), and acquire a significant amount of domestic and foreign investment for future development. Moreover, companies can further expand their capital in various ways, including initiating secondary market offerings and introducing private funding. In this sense, not only does an IPO generate capital for the company, but it also enables the company to acquire prolific capital, as long as the company operates profitably, and is able to attract investors. Routine producers such as manufacturers are the ones in the real risk of losing their jobs as a result of outsourcing since the technological advancements have put them in positions that they have to compete with millions of routine workers in other nations who are willing to work for a much lower wage than their counterparts in America. Therefore, the majority of U.S. routine jobs have moved to the emerging economies. • 35. Overseas Sweatshops Nike, Victoria's Secret, GAP, Levis, Nordstrom, Calvin Klein. Other than their status as large fashion retailers, they all have one thing in common: the International Textile Garment and Leather Workers' Federation condemns their use of overseas sweatshops. Goods manufactured in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and many other Asian and African countries are often made in less–than–ideal conditions for low wages. While opponents of overseas labor champion stricter trading laws, this form of supply–and–demand economics remains a vital part of the global economy, as it enables prices to remain low in developed countries and employs many individuals in distant, poorer areas. With the dollar continuously decreasing in value, Americans are correct in demanding... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By deciding what a foreign government should deem acceptable in the workplace, outsiders are interfering with the leader's ability to rule his own people. Citing embellished stories of tragedies that may have been prevented, opponents are working to convince the public that disregarding a few labor laws is a gross human rights violation. The contrary is true, actually, as the deaths of the workers better the lives of others by making work positions available and decreasing the competition for resources. Cases amplified by the media, including the Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire are anomalies anyhow, and accidents are bound to happen no matter the environment. Many developed countries also have sweatshops, but most of the workers are illegal immigrants who do not belong taking jobs meant for tax–paying citizens. They deserve to have to work long, grueling hours, as their presence does not stimulate the economy, especially when most send money back to their home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was the year I joined the United States Air Force. What I found most spectacular about Okinawa was the beauty of the island, the magnificent blue ocean surrounding it, culture, and the people. What made Okinawa so spectacular was the picturesque views of the mountains, the variety of terrain and vegetation. As you moved away from the city it wasn't as congested it was more rural with homes separated by space. The warmth of the sand under your feet also filters in between your toes. Further out into the ocean it is crisp and clear, and your able to see the fish swimming around your legs. The warmth of the sun, and the tepid water rushing in over the body was refreshing. Some water activities in Okinawa include snorkeling and deep sea diving. It is relaxing and fascinating swimming with some of the most magnificent sea creatures. Other hobby's offered is spelunking which is cave exploration. It is an interesting hobby because you don't know what you may find. One cave I explored I remember finding broken eye glasses, old shoes, medicine bottles and other items. I left everything as it was because this is where people had died in the war, and essentially their tomb. Some caves contained more than one level, they were deep and wide it was amazing to see. Especially, when the depth and perception is confirmed when you look up at the ceiling of the cave. Spelunking can be dangerous because the integrity of the cave the ground may be compromised, and poisonous creatures reside in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today, Nike employs more than 33,000 people globally. The company's World Headquarters is located in Beaverton, Oregon and is home to more than 7,000 employees. Additionally, Nike has almost 800,000 workers in their contract supply chain. Nike estimates that 80 percent of these workers are women aged 18 to 24, many of whom are the first women in their families to work in the formal economy. After years of good publicity and increasing profits, Nike was hit by claims it was involved in unfair overseas labor practices. These include child labor, extreme low wages, and employee abuse. Nike has contracted with more than 700 shops around the world and has offices located in 45 countries outside the United States. Most of Nike's are located in Indonesia, China, Taiwan, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan, Philippines, and Malaysia. In the 1980s and 1990s, the corporation had been plagued by a series of labor incidents and public relations nightmares: underage workers in Indonesian plants, allegations of coerced overtime in China, dangerous working conditions in Vietnam. For a while, the stories had been largely confined to labor circles and activist publications. In 1997, Nike was faced with a terrible tragedy when a Vietnamese factory worker, Phuong, died as a result of

  • 41. Discuss the Impact of Overseas Outsourcing Essay In researching this subject it seems that outsourcing work overseas has a positive and negative effect on the US economy for a few different reasons. The most important I feel is taking the jobs away from the people in the United States. As we all know, especially at this time, jobs are not easy to find. There are some people that are under qualified for jobs available in the US that these jobs we are outsourcing could be done by these under qualified individuals. Companies' main reason for this is to cut costs and save money. The conditions of the manufacturers in these foreign countries are known to not be the very best either. Sweatshops and having young children work for little money is how some of these manufacturers are able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most populace countries in the world, China and India, seem to be the two countries tapped into most for outsourcing. I'm pretty sure everyone has called into a call center at least once and reached some Indian person on the other end. The language barrier is evident. This has an impact on the level of quality service they can provide. "India appears to be a global business nightmare. People speak dozens of different languages throughout the country. Getting around is a challenge due to a terrible infrastructure. Foreign companies must deal with tight regulations on investment, slow bureaucratic culture, and the politics of family owned big– business. UPS delivery men, for example, must often ask for directions because there are no street numbers. (Williams, 2010). This is a perfect example of what is going on in foreign countries with which we are outsourcing business too. A bit scary if you ask me. Let's talk about a positive aspect of outsourcing business. "Contractual Obligation: The liability of a service provider is higher than that of an in–house employee. This makes working with them a safer bet for businesses." At least you can be at ease that the people you are working with overseas are well trained in the business that you are outsourcing. All in all there are several different pros and cons to outsourcing or off shoring business to other countries. It looks and seems that saving money for companies is the most important and ... • 42. Benefits Of Moving Production Overseas There continues to be a rise of organizations from the United States and other developing countries who are moving production overseas to developing countries. At the outset the advantages of moving production overseas may seem obvious, multinational companies can capitalize on the competitive advantage these countries offer in the form of inexpensive labor. However, this cost reduction can come at a high cost as different cultures may not place a high value on the safety and wellbeing of their employees as companies due in developed countries, such as the United States. Responsibility of Supply Chain It is imperative for today's multi–national corporations to not only monitor supply channels for human rights violations but to act on those violations and if necessary discontinue those business relationships. In the current global age, poor working conditions in a factory can become global news almost instantaneously. For example, Asgary and Li (2014) tell the story explosion which happened in a Foxconn factory, killing four workers and injuring several more (p. 665). This tragic accident in the plant may have gone unnoticed in the western world, except for the fact that this portion of the facility created the Apple iPad. The accident now became international news, and the public outcry was significant. Asgary and Li (2014) said, "Apple, the computer giant whose success largely rests on its positive corporate reputation, was hit by a boycott call from social media, ... • 43. Overseas Animators Job Growth The job growth of Multimedia Artists and Animators is growing at a very slow rate, due to the animation companies and studios hiring artists and animators who work overseas. For those who are not exactly sure what a Multimedia Artist is or does. A Multimedia Artist/Animator is an artist who creates "[2– Dimensional and 3–Dimensional] animation and visual effects for television, movies, video games, and other forms of media" (www.bls.gov). This is one of the few drawbacks in this occupation. American animation companies and studios hire overseas animators, since overseas animators work for a much lower price than American animators. This means the companies and studios save money. Also, the overseas animators create top–of–the–line animated... Also, another reason why the animation studios and companies are hiring overseas animators could possibly be the fact that "56.9% of animators [are] self–employed" (Collegefortn.org). By animators adapting to this effective solution, American self–employed animators, who want to begin their animation companies and studios, can come into collaboration with aspiring animators, employing teams of fellow animators. This would bring more jobs and opportunities to American animators. And lastly, the reason why overseas animators are hired by American animation studios and companies, is due to the fact that in the past decades animation studios have been sending unfinished animation work to overseas animators to complete. As said by Tom Crosby, in an article of "How Stuff Works" titled "How Outscoring Works", "This isn't a new trend. It started decades ago when Hollywood studios began sending pre–production work to lowered–priced, where the work was polished and completed." Once the independent animators establish their own businesses and collaborate with their fellow aspiring animators, who embrace this effective solution, there wouldn't be any unfinished artwork to send to overseas animators. Since all of the artwork would be completed on due time, by the animators of the companies, there would not be any uncompleted or discarded artwork to send to overseas animators. This would bring about a faster pace in the job growth rate of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
