2. Introduction
I used a number of sources and documents to
guide me whilst planning my advertisement.
These documents helped the process of my
advertising to move quickly and in an organized
structure.
3. Documents used:
Pre-production documents:
Contingency plan
Costumes and props
Production Budget
Story boards
Audience research:
Focus group
Survey monkey
4. Using the pre -production
documentation in the production stage:
Contingency plan: The contingency plan basically
helped us a group to resolve problems quickly. My
partner Shemi, listed a number of ideas that we can
resolve from our potential problems such as: ”If one
of our props gets missing, the whole crew must be
ready to contribute a token in order to get the
costume replaced.” and ”If any of my filming crew is
absent due to health, school or personal issues, I will
have a standby person to replace them.” We were
sometimes put in situations like these when it came
down to filming so we knew exactly what to do when
problems like these occurred because we knew how
5. Costumes and props
The costumes and props document was great for
looking back at what props and costumes we
needed, especially if they are specific props and
costumes. We only used very phew props (a
mascara) and the costume needed was rather
simple clothing (a top). This meant that this
document was hardly needed or in any way
useful because the props and costumes we had
aren’t something that can be easily forgotten.
6. Production Budget
The production budget sheet was very important
for us as we were providing our own products as
well as money. Although we used a small number
of props, the prices still became expensive
because of the type of products we chose. The
mascara was a Rimmel London product which is
a product that sells at a reasonable price of £5.
As for the costume, the top will be set at a
reasonable price of £20. Traveling £10 and food
£5. This all came to a total of £40, this
documentation helped us know the exact amount
of money we were to spend which placed us
ahead in what we were doing.
7. Story boards
In my group we created two story boards before
doing anything else for our advert. My first story
board was calm and concentrated where – as the
second story board idea was classy and fun. The
two contrasting idea we created gave us more of
an insight into what we really wanted to create in
our advert for our final story board idea.
8. Audience research
Focus group: The focus group was a quicker
process of knowing the audiences personal
opinion in the advert we created. Gathering a
focus group is also an advantage because then
there can be improvements made in the advert
and it also informs us, the makers of the advert,
to build from it.
Survey monkey: Survey monkey was also
another way for us to get an insight of the
audience’s likes and dislikes about the product
itself. In addition, this we had a chance to get to
know the audience a bit more as well.
9. Were the documents useful?
Although I didn’t really use the pre-production
documents to guide me throughout my advert,
realistically this would be very useful and
important to use when making an advertisement.
Pre-production documents support you
throughout the process and ease all problems
that may occur in it. However I did use the story
boards and audience research, these personally
helped me only because we get to know more
about the audience and more about the advert we
created. I would personally say that the document
that was most useful was the audience research
because the us as well as the audience is
10. Any improvements for my next
project?
Based on my overall experience of making this
advert, I would say that I would need to know
exactly where we will be filming our advert. I say
this because, we had an idea of where to film our
advert, but we didn’t confirm the place that we
were to do our filming. Problems occurred
because of this and wasted plenty of time to get
the filming done.
11. Which document needs
improving?
I felt as though out of all documents produced,
the story board was weakest. Even though there
is detail on the type of shots, and place we were
to film, it was not really presentable which made it
difficult to understand.
