Cadets That Influenced Me
Cadets that have Influenced Me the Most The cadets that have influenced me the most are cadet
ensign Reardon and ex–cadet Lt. Cmdr. Lanham. They have influenced me the most because they
were the ones that had motivated me to do my best in the program every day, ex–cadet Lt. Cmdr.
Lanham had helped me with athletics by supporting me in the Raider program, and they both have
inspired me to shoot for high positions in the program. In 8th grade when I was selecting which
electives I would take, I was really on edge on whether or not to take NJROTC. When I was still
unsure about joining the program, cadet ensign Reardon encouraged me to join, to give it a try.
Reardon has helped me with unarmed basic drill when I wasn't clear, and I know that

Actions That Influenced Creon
Has anyone ever influenced you actions or effected your mood? In "Antigone" there were multiple
people that influenced Creon like Antigone, Harmon and the guard. The one that influenced Creon
the most was Haemon. Haemon is Creon son and what he did had not only a huge effect on Creon
but others too. There was a scene in Antigone where Haemon is talking to his dad about not hurting
Antigone because Antigone is not only his cousin but she's also his wife. There's a point in line 835
where Creon says "Am I to rule this land at someone else's whim or by myself?" Haemon replied
with "A city which belongs to just one man is no true city." He's basically saying he's not listening to
other people and he's only doing what he wants and not what

Is Language Influenced by Culture?
The University of Hong Kong CCHU9042 Human Language: Nature or Nurture? Final Report Is
Language Influenced by Culture? Culture and language have long been believed to be intimately
interrelated. Defined by anthropologist Tylor (1871, p.1), culture is "that complex whole which
includes knowledge, belief, art, law, morals, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired
by man as a member of society." People learn culture through language. Language, one of the most
distinctive characteristics of human, is unique to human with its productive and creative nature
(Hockett, 1960). This essay aims to discuss how language is influenced by culture. CL7 and

Although I agree with the point that religion shapes people's language, these examples may not be
logical enough. Suggested by Crystal (1965), the word "good" has completely different meanings
for Christian and non–Christian. "Good" is associated with "penance", "suffering" and "charity" for
Christian but "happiness" and "satisfaction" for non–Christian. Their different contextual meaning
of "good" could be explained by Christians' belief to pay for their sins through penance and
contribute to God through "charity" to fulfill goodness. This piece of evidence may reveal the
influence of religion, which is a part of culture, on language. Glossophilia justified social strata's
influence on language through honorific speech in Japanese, linguistic imperialism and social
classes, with concrete examples, like English's influence on Irish language. Their logical argument
and evidence, which are coherent with the evidence about Japanese's politeness marker and
honorific speech raised by group CL7, have convinced me. I agree with their point that social strata,
as a part of culture, influence how people use language. Both groups emphasize honorific speech of
Japanese, which is suitable for this view. It is also supported by Tsujimura (1992) that Japanese uses

What Influenced The Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was a statement written and approved by members of the Second
Continental Congress in Pennsylvania on July 4, 1776. The Declaration was the colonies
announcing that they were officially separated from Great Britain and were independent sovereign
states. The Declaration can also be seen as a declaration of war, because they are basically saying
that they are breaking off from England and if England wants them back they will have to take them
back. The Declaration of Independence influenced the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights by
introducing the principles and ideals behind their fair and equitable government. To begin with,
many elements of the U.S. Constitution were ideas emphasized in the Declaration

Eminem's Influenced My Life
A person in creative work that has had a major influence on me is probably Eminem. Although he is
a rapper, he has influenced me in my writing abilities. As a child I loved poetry, the flow of the
poem moved me along with what was being told. It wasn't until I was about 14 when I started
writing music to help cope with everyday life. I listened to alot of rap music at the time because I
wanted to pursue the career as a rapper in middle school. I was never really good at memorizing
lyrics to songs but, as soon as I listened to "Lose Yourself" something sparked inside me. I would
blast Eminem as I go to sleep and wake up in the morning rapping. I had slipped into a dark time
going into my freshmen year of high school and I constantly wrote

English Language Reflection
BAKA! Screamed the blonde Tsundere girl as she punched the poor boy protagonist who had
accidentally chosen to take a shower at the wrong time. As I watched this comedy duo on my
companion's phone, I felt strangely compelled to keep on watching and couldn't help but feel an
urge to ask what in the world I was watching. Then that question was answered with "Nisekoi" and
after hearing those words from my companion I started questioning their ability to speak English or
any language in a matter of fact. I started telling them they go see a speech therapist for their
problems "That with the right help even a microcephalic addlepate as yourself can find a cure."
Pretty sure they never realized I was implying that they were an imbecile, it's sad really. Regardless
of this they informed me that what I was watching was not any normal animations nor was it from
this country actually. They told me that I was watching and I quote "ANIMU" until they correct
themselves and said "Anime". I never had a real "Anime" though I had a idea because of how people
associated this word with shows like DBZ or that one show with the monster cards. "I put my
Pikachu in defence mode I put a poke card facing down and I end my turn." This was proof that I
had no real background knowledge behind this concept but putting jokes aside I really didn't know
anything about the entire world of anime. After the episode finished, I was left with many questions

My Mother Influenced Me
Out of everyone in my life I feel as if my mother is the person who influences me most. My mother
is someone who is very sweet and would do anything for her kids as well as her family to make sure
they are happy and smiling. As I started to grow up and started to go out and be more independent
that is when I started to realize what an impact my mom has on my life. Growing up my parents
were divorced and my mom was the one who basically raised me on her own. She showed me right
from wrong and guided me and pushed me to do the right things in life and strive for success. As I
grew up my mom was always right by my side and accepted my dreams and wanted me to go out
and pursue every dream I have. And now looking back at everything my mom has taught me I can't
thank her enough! Because without my mom pushing me to succeed, being there for me when times
were tough and being a forgiving person I would not be where I am today.
My mother's name is Heather and she is 38 years old. My mother and I look like sisters. She has
dark brown hair, brown eyes how ever the only difference is she is only five feet tall! I can always
tell when my mom is entering the room by the clucking of her heels. My mom always wears strong
beautiful perfume from Victoria's secret. She has a great sense of fashion and is always dressing to

What Influenced Gandhi's Writing
Gandhi had a strong impact on his writing that influenced the works of Thoreau, you can see it the
text. They were both people that wanted to persuade others to follow their cause, and They did , in
different ways. When reading these works, it is easy to see the ties between, the writers Thoreau and
Gandhi. In civil disobedience it's about his protest, which talked about his issues with the
government and the night that he spent in jail , and Gandhi's works speaks about the protest and how
it was going to happen. Thoreau speaks about his poll tax and how he should keep what he worked
for . Gandhi gave a speech which tried to persuade people to follow his point of view of getting rid
of the salt issues that his country was having with Britain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

it's obvious that the two styles are mainly because of their influences. On one hand, Thoreau mainly
based his writing style off of Transcendentalism and Romanticism.
They were both against violence at this time and did not want anyone to be hurt . They both also
wanted their opinions to come out into the open. Both of them wanted the people to hear them out.
They had more differences than they did similarities, Gandhi was trying to get other people that
shared his belief. He stayed hungry for 6 days. Gandhi was explaining to the other people that even
if he and others should get arrested while they were protesting the tax, until they have their tax gone.
The lesson of all this was to show that the civil rights movement in the u.s was a big impact to stop
this taxation.
Thoreau was an activist and did not confront the government right away or try to recruit citizens to
fight against the wrongs. Both Gandhi and Thoreau were willing to make these sacrifices to pressure
the government. Thoreau influenced civil disobedience which made him different. He also stood out
because he was also a privileged white man. Through his eyes in the text It says "you can struggle
without hating; you can fight wars without violence." Thoreau knew followers should have believed
in him. Although this engagement shows how Indian thought influenced America in other hand

What Influenced Her Work?
What influenced her work? The first experience that shaped Collins' scholarship occurred during her
time instituting a new curriculum at St. Joseph Community School, an educational center for
underprivileged children of color, which sought to engage young students in thinking critically
about power systems and intellectual activism. At this stage in her career, she focused on developing
curriculum and teaching herself new information to fill in gaps in her knowledge in order to provide
historical and social frameworks for the lessons she taught her students. This experience "shaped the
thematic approaches and theoretical perspectives" of her scholarship. Collins' experiences teaching
were fundamental to the development of her ideology. She began teaching undergrad African–
American studies courses when the field was still relatively new to academia and was therefore seen
as invalid. Her goal was to teach social justice to her classes full of Black students, primarily
women, "finding a way to speak to them and not just about them." Teaching Black studies
challenged Collins to find new ways to get through to students and answer questions which
constructed the process of writing Black Feminist Thought. The material she wrote was then used to
teach a course on contemporary Black women. After this, Collins discovered two questions that
would provide guidance for her scholarship in the decades to come: "what accounts for social
justice?" and "what can we do to foster social

What Influenced My Worldview
This story was influenced by my worldview, which is if you do not have a solid foundation then you
can not grow. This is exactly what we see illustrated in this story a person who did not have a solid
foundation in God. We saw how he started to grow and then got sucked into all this sin and started
to crumble because he did not have a solid foundation in God. I believe that if you want to grow in
life you need to have a strong foundation in God and on top of that a solid foundation in family and
friends. There are many things that have influenced this worldview and one of them would be the
book we read in eighth The Cross And The Switchblade. This work of literature impacted my
worldview by showing me that a solid foundation looks like. In this ... Show more content on

Like the Cross and the Switchblade, we see a man who had a solid foundation in Christ, Martin
Luther. He had such a solid foundation in Christ and in the Bible that it did not even shift in the face
of such hatred and even death. In Bible class we looked at a story that stressed the importance of a
solid foundation, and that was the story of Solomon. In Solomon's story we see a story much like the
story that we just read. In the beginning of Solomon's reign he was a very good Christian and was
close with God, but once he got sucked into sin he started to fall astray. He go so powerful and
because he did not have a solid foundation in God he crumbled. Finally, there is one other event in
my life that impacted my worldview and this was when my house almost blew up during Hurricane
Sandy. During the storm a tree fell down and knocked over a power line that melted through the
street, an inch above the gas line that lead to my house. Because of this my family, my cousins, and
my grandparents had to evacuate because it was not safe to stay in our house. During this time of
fear for all of us we all stuck together and helped each other

Artists that Influenced The Beatles Essay
In the eyes of many, The Beatles are one of the most influential bands of the 20th century. They
have influenced me in my everyday life and so many great musicians in the past 50 years. This fact
alone, makes it hard to imagine that they were once influenced by someone else. While doing some
research, I found various artists that influenced them through the beginning of their careers until the
very end. In the following paragraphs, I will be sharing with you a few of the artists I thought to be
the most influential to The Beatles extremely successful career and why I thought them to be so
influential. In their youth, The Beatles were avid followers of early forms of Rock and Roll. Skiffle

"John was fascinated not only with Presley's voice, but also by the jagged guitar work that propelled
'Heartbreak Hotel'" (Hall 1). The Beatles admired him not only for his music, but for his style. They
quickly slicked their hair back, got sideburns, tight jeans called "drainpipes", and crepe–soled shoes,
all in true Elvis style. John was so inspired by Elvis, that it drove him to create his first skiffle group
called The Quarrymen. Another early influence of The Beatles, was one of the most influential
guitar players of early rock and roll, Chuck Berry. Berry was known for cultivation and
development of rhythm and blues music. He is known as one of rock and roll's pioneers. Not only
was Berry's style heard a lot in early Beatles albums, his songs "Roll Over Beethoven" and "Rock
and Roll Music" were later covered by The Beatles. In 1963, The Beatles reached their first number
one hit. Though "Please Please Me" has more of a high energy fast tempo, the song was inspired by
Roy Orbison's 1960 hit "Only the Lonely". It was John Lennon's attempt at writing a Roy Orbison
song. The Beatles were fond of Roy Orbison's song writing and distinct singing approach. "Roy
Orbison had one of the most distinctive and expressive voices, with a three to four octave range to
match, in rock and pop music" (Tranquillo 24). Another influence found in the chart topper was The
Everly Brothers. The opening verse of "Please

What Influenced John Steinbeck?. What Exactly Influenced
What influenced John Steinbeck?
What exactly influenced Steinbeck's writings? Was it his background, his past, or was it the way he
grew up and learned. There are many factors that come into play when trying to depict what exactly
influenced an author. A lot of people believe that he was heavily influenced by California, where he
lived. As many as nine of his works were proven to be based off of some part of california life in his
time. But not all of his inspiration could simply come from California. John Steinbeck was born and
raised in Salinas, California, a town well known for farming and being poor. Its thought that his
many conversations with the migrant workers of the area inspired a lot of his work, such as "Of

"Of Mice and Men", his talks about the dreams of a pair of migrant laborers, Lenny and George,
working on a farm, is now quite well known.
That novel was followed by what most people believe is Steinbeck's best book, "Grapes Of Wrath",
which was based on articles he had written in San Francisco, and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1940. His
talks of the poor conditions eventually caught the attention of Eleanor Roosevelt, who raised the
standards, telling Congress to fix the bad parts of the labor laws and camp conditions. In all 17 of
his works became movies or screenplays.
After some of his success in writing steinbeck began working as a war correspondent for the NY
Tribune. He kept journals of his work and places he went, usually taking notes that did not get into
his books, but they were interesting and entertaining. Although the FBI never actually looked at him,
Steinbeck did come to attention because of his political ideas, and he was interviewed by the Army
for a commission. They declined to offer because of his "unsuitability due to psychological issues.".
They basically deemed him a psychopath.
He ended up writing a letter to a U.S. Attorney General in 1942. He asked, "Do you think you could
ask Edgar 's men to stop stepping on my heels? They think I'm an enemy. It is getting tiresome."
Later, In 1967, Steinbeck went to Vietnam to report the war, and his views of the U.S. Army

Fashion Influenced by Ww2
What Impact has World War 2 had on Fashion? For this assignment I have been asked to select an
aspect of fashion culture to research and investigate. I have decided to base my assignment on World
War 2 and investigate the impact it has had on fashion culture as a whole. I have chosen a history
based theme for my assignment as I personally believe that history plays a main part in today's
fashion culture, and I also think it is very interesting to see how designers today revive fashion from
the past. The essay will firstly explore how fashion survived during World War 2, which will include
looking at the recycling of materials which took place. Secondly I will examine how work affected

As women's roles in Western society changed, modern fashion changed along with it. The memorial
(see illustration 2) stands in Whitehall, about a hundred yards from the cenotaph. The 22ft–high
bronze sculpture depicts the uniforms and working clothes worn by women during the war. Military
styling and lines influenced fashions at the start of the war, "women often wore trousers, or a one–
piece siren suit" (Harris, C., 2009) this illustrates that it would be easier for women to wear trousers
or one piece siren suits as it could be pulled on quickly when an air raid warning siren sounded.
Headgear became practical, as it kept hair out of the way rather than as a fashion statement. Large
handbags were also used to carry all the family's ration books which suggest that they were also
practical rather than fashionable accessories. Holman, B., The Women of World War II Memorial
(illustration 2) I consider that women going to work during the World War 2 had a huge impact on
today's society. This is due to the fact that most women have jobs, whether they are married, single,
or have children. Another aspect which was influenced by the World War 2 was that military outfits
are seen as fashionable and garments today incorporate elements onto the outfit. Lastly another
aspect which has carried on since the war is that women wear trousers a lot more than what they did
before the World War 2. Paul Poiret's

Motiation Is Influenced by influenced of Individual,...
Motivation is a complex phenomenon which is influenced of individual, cultural, ethnic and
historical factors. According to De Cenzo et al., (1996), people who are motivated use a greater
effort to perform a job than those who are not motivated. Motivation can be defined as "a series of
energizing forces that originate both with and beyond an individual's self". These forces determine
the person's behavior and therefore, influence his/her productivity (Jackson, 2005). In other words
this means that all thinkable factors of physical or psychological aspects that we interact with, leads
to a reaction within our self or of the entire organization.
Another definition for Motivation is "the willingness to do something, conditioned by the ... Show

The best way to view the expectancy theory is with the acronym VIE, which stands for: Valence,
Instrumentality, and Expectancy, where (Bounds, 1995):
Valenceis the value or anticipated satisfaction that an individual attaches to an outcome.
Instrumentalityis the possibility that a doing well performance will yield the valued outcome.
Expectancyis the possibility that a certain level of effort will result in successful behavioral
performance.
2.2 Rewards
Effects of rewards to employee motivation are significant (Danish and Usman, 2010), which then
influences to commitment and change process (Parish et al., 2008). Rewards can be defined as
financial and non financial benefits which are given in accordance to an individual or team
achievement (Armstrong, 1993). Promotion, pride, job security, good relations with colleagues and
superiors and monetary rewards – salary increases, bonuses and benefits are the rewards that has
been studied and positive relations with the employee motivation has been found (Danish and
Usman, 2010). Similarly Kanungo and Hartwick (1987) observes the motivational effectiveness of
rewards and finds that promotion, pay, personal challenge, recognition, authority and job security
are the most effective six rewards out of forty eight of them. Mahaney and Lederer (2006) make a

Who Is Influenced By Stanislavsky
When devising our piece, I was influenced by Stanislavsky. Some important aspects of our
performance sway from Stanislavsky's natural realism. Stanislavsky believes that emotions should
come from within one, within the emotional memories one has experienced. However, Stanislavsky
acknowledges that it is a highly demanding technique and affirms that it should immediately be
stopped when one is experiencing mental breakdowns.
Furthermore, Stanislavsky expresses that although he believes acting should come from within, the
actor should not be too carried away in the moment as he wouldn't have a variety of emotions
produced making the performance watchable at first, but then slowly dragging; a bit like someone
repeating the same joke over, and over again. Furthermore, if the actor is carried away, in a realism
production, he will jump right to the end emotionally and textually, a bit like revealing that Macbeth
is killed by Macduff in the first act of Shakespeare's Macbeth. ... Show more content on

How Are Gender Roles Influenced?
How are gender roles influenced?
Gender roles are a stereotype of what society deems acceptable for boys and girls to behave. The
social norms for young girls are for them to like dolls, kitchen play sets and pink, and young boys
should like truck, building things and toys tools.(Golombok,1993) When the boys and girls do not
match the typical roles they are seen as unusual. At an early age boys are to be seen as more
aggressive and dominant and girls are to be seen as dainty and delicate. Some parents will

Many things can affect the way children behave. The different type of parents and environments.

mostly boys they may be more masculine or a tomboy. These types of children could be seen as

In another study 3rd and 5th graders, from two different cultures, were tested by showing them four

Before we take a look on how democracy is influenced and what role does the Constitution play
when discussing the effects on democracy, we must first know what democracy is. The formal
definition of democracy is a form of government by the people, but what we need to further evaluate
what this really means. According to David Plotke in his article Representation is democracy,

There are 4 parts of the Constitution that specifically affects democracy and its success in serving
the people of America.
The first element of the Constitution I want to dive into is the three branches of government,
otherwise knows as the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch. The ideal
of the Constitution was to give America a healthy, stable, and legitimate government with limited
powers to avoid conflicts between authority and the people. In other words, the Constitution was
designed to dodge totalitarianism. In order to avoid this form of government, the Constitution came
up with an elaborate way to separate powers between the government and the result was the three
branches of government. The three branches of government's job was to ensure a fair and strong
government by equally separating power among the three. It's job as a whole was also to prevent too
much power or the abuse of power to one central person in the government. Although this may seem
like enough information on how this affects democracy, we still need to assess exactly what the
three branches of government do for us as the people and how it represents the people of the
government since that it was democracy is. The first of the three branches of government is the
legislative branch. The legislative branch includes the Congress, Senate, and the House of

The Blogs Influenced By Diane Ravitch
After the assigned readings I was able to gain more knowledge on different viewpoints to teaching,
and to learning. The blogs by Diane Ravitch were very interesting. The blogs were concerning
Common Core, Unions, and the best way to learn how to read. I found it interesting that the
knowledge sustained in these blogs would be so helpful in guiding my purpose of teaching. The
blogs influenced my thinking about the purpose of social studies in that social studies gives us so
much background to where we've come from, what we as a society have accomplished, and most
importantly who we are us citizens. The blogs reinforced the opinion of many people across the U.S.
and that is that Common Core is flawed. The parents would not opt out of a program just because
they felt it was too hard for their students. The outrage and boycott comes from the effect the
grading of the tests has on a teachers overall performance as a teacher. Using common core testing
as a rubric for teachers in my opinion is blatantly wrong and the statistics from the American
Statistical Association show that "teachers affect 1–14% of the variation in student scores, while the
family and home have a greater % effect" (NY Daily News, Ravitch.net). This blog affected my
impact on just how much flak teachers get when it comes to the state and federal education system.

What Influenced The American Revolution
Throughout the years of 1750–1914, an age of revolutions broke out, causing a global change in
politics. The Enlightenment Ideals influenced this worldwide change, from the social contract,
separation of power, and natural rights. The social contract influenced the revolutions when all
middle/lower class people wanted equality in their country. Natural rights take place in the
worldwide revolutions because everyone wants to live with life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness. Some documents that influence these revolutions are the Declaration of Independence,
U.S. Constitution, and The Saint–Domingue Constitution of 1801. Natural rights influenced the
French and Latin American Revolutions because the citizens of these areas were yearning for
change and needed a government that would influence equality, and create a constitution to drop the
hierarchy of citizens, and fabricate a civil, utopian society that the citizens actually would appreciate
a lifestyle that acknowledges political and social freedom. As John Locke states, "The end of law is
not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom. For in all the states of created beings

Myths Are Influenced By The Founding Of America
Four popular myths are commonly associated with the founding of America. The first myths is that
all of the settlers came to America, seeking religious freedom. Secondly, all of the settlers were from
the middle of the English social class and brought their families with them. Thirdly, early America
was created as a land where everyone had a chance to succeed and the English class system was
forgotten. Lastly, that the new settlers had forgotten England's laws and built their own unique legal
system. While some accuracy exists in these four myths, various misconceptions exist in them as
well. Therefore these myths are somewhat true, but mostly over exaggerated.

freedom. In fact, most of the settlers left to pursue work, because they thought America would

settlers left England for better work opportunities. Rather than leaving for religious freedom, finely
illustrates the inaccuracy of this myth.
For the second myth, some of the settlers in early virginia were from the middle of England's
societal ranking and brought their families with. The people the second myth is referring were the
ones who acquired the indentured servants to work on their farms. Sense three–fourths of the settlers
came as indentured servants, that leaves very little room for the people who own them. Therefore, a
few of the settlers and their families were from England's middle social ranking. In addition, these
few middle class settlers with families proves that the second myth isn't completely inaccurate.
Conversely, the myth about every settler in early Virginia being from the middle class and bringing a
family is full of misconceptions. For example, the indentured servants that made up most of the
population of early Virginia were not from the middle class. Nor, did the servants come with their
families. In fact, all of the servants were from the bottom of England's social ranking and

Why Is Madonna Influenced?
Madonna Louise Ciccone was born on August 16, 1958 (O'Brien p.6). She has two older brothers,
one younger brother and two younger sisters (O'Brien p.6)Her older brothers loved to tease her and
she often told on things they did to her father (Morton p.33)Madonna got her first name from her
mother Madonna Sr. (Morton p.32). She was both a well behaved and difficult child one time being
told not to leave the yard and was upset and pushed another child down (Andersen p. 21). Madonna
was very close with her mother and dealt with loss at an early age. Madonna Sr. was diagnosed with
breast cancer in 1962, she felt her work as an X–ray technician contributed to her prognosis as they
really did not have precautions to limit radiation exposure. She was still breast–feeding Melanie
(Madonna's Youngest sister) so she chose to delay chemotherapy. Madonna Senior passed away
from cancer a year later Madonna was only five years of age (Gnojewski p. 25).

Influenced By Marxism And Imperialism
Influenced by Marxism and imperialism, Dependency writers sought to explain the high inequities
in the world economic system in terms of its distribution of power and resources and places most
nations in a dependent position in relation to the industrial powers. Dependency scholars basically
believe that less–developed countries will be unable to develop because the rich world uses them as
the equivalent of colonies. The major contention here is that the developing countries of the Global
South are hindered in their developmental efforts by their association (economic) with the
industrialized countries of the Global North.
Prominent scholars here include: Paul Baran and Paul Sweezy (Monopoly Capitalism, 1957/1960;

Free trade with minimal state intervention is the key tenet of neoliberal ideas driving most
international organizations. In the contemporary world characterized by open markets, US
hegemony, international organizations, regional cooperations and large inflows of foreign aids and
technologies in economically less developed states, national governments are increasingly
constrained in formulating and implementing policies that are deemed appropriate for their citizens.
I discuss below major developmental challenges in Africa (by extension other poor countries) which
have roots in contemporary imperial relations with the West. These include: debt burdens, structural
adjustment programmes, operations of multinational corporations and external aid.
Debt Burden
One of the greatest threats to development in most African countries is the huge debt stock and the
cost of servicing it. Large–scale borrowing in the 60s and 70s (in a bid to ensure welfare of the
citizens after colonialism) coupled with events in the world economy such as rising oil prices, rising
interest rates, falling commodity prices and global recession led to the Debt crisis of the early 80s
which left many poor countries with huge cost of servicing debts which still lingers today. Even

Factors That Influenced The Partition Of Africa
In 1828 Shaka, leader of the Zulu tribe prophesied that 'the swallows', white men building mud
houses, would come to conquer his people. By the end of the century his prophecy was reality. The
extraordinary expansion drift of all major industrialised countries in Europe led to an unparalleled
division of the African in the last two decades of the nineteenth century.
Key reason to expand pivoted around the European economy. The industrial revolution in Europe
had changed the landscape from rural agricultural to urban industrialised. The economic system that
prevailed was capitalism. Trademark of capitalism is a constant search for markets to establish
economic growth. During the 'great depression' of 1873–1896 many continental countries opted for
a protective system. For instance the average French tariff rose from 5.2% in 1875 to 10.4% in 1895,

The mixture or reasons and events led to the rapid uncontrolled expansion. However, in hindsight
not all reasons lived up to the expectations. Economically it did provide markets and a source of
commodities but most investors preferred other regions for business. The cost of sustaining the
colonies were immense. Politically it led to mistrust and deep rooted animosity and while the
Europeans plundered their way through the continent the most controversial reason, the 'civilising'

Jim Lawson is a civil rights leader who has had his story illustrated in a three volume hardcover
graphic novel called March. It was written by Jim Lawson and Andrew Aydin, with art by Nate

Lewis' journey towards equality. Many of his influences are documented including; his childhood, a
trip to New York, nonviolence workshops, lunch counter segregation, and the "Big Six". It's a
powerful story that through its art, may capture the attention of those who frown upon traditional

Melinda Sordino's Influenced Communication
Influenced Reaction
None of us are immune to dramatic experiences. There will be a point, in all of our lives that
something difficult happens. How one deals with difficult situations is greatly influenced by how we
are raised. Children are constantly absorbing information and learning critical life skills from their
parents and what unfolds around them. Youth learn basic skills such as handling stress and proper
communication from their immediate family. When Melinda Sordino was raped, her reaction was
heavily affected by how she has seen her parents respond to problems (Pg. 198, Speak).
One of the most evident issues in Melinda's upbringing was the lack of communication in her
household. Melinda and her parents kept communication to the ... Show more content on

They both continuously attempted to one up the other and refused to lean on one another during
hardships. Melinda was not blind to this, in fact she modeled her own methods of handling stress
after them. So after melinda was raped, she did not turn to her friends and family for support. She
kept all of her struggle to herself and attempted to deal with is alone. Consequently, she grew very
distant from those around her. The household Melinda was raised in was not very caring. Her
mother was a firm believer in "tuff love" which translated to not getting involved at all with
Melinda's emotions. Melinda's mother seemed to view emotions as a weakness and did not take the
time to consider what her daughter was going through. Since Melinda has had the influence of her
mother's perspective in her life, she too shut down and put up walls for awhile.
Melinda is an incredible example of strength. Many rape victims take a downhill slide and are never
able to recover from it, despite the support of friends/family. Melinda not only was able to recover
from this fall, but she was also able to separate her decisions from the influence of her parents.

What Influenced The French Revolution
The French revolution was a revolution that happened in France which started in the year 1789 and
ended in the year 1799. It was caused by the rigidness of the old order in the face of a changing
world. There were also aggrieved peasants who were influenced by the ideas of the Enlightenment.
There other factors that had influenced the French Revolution include the scarcity of food that had
lasted for several years. There was also an unmanageable debt that was caused by an inefficient tax
system. The French got fed up with the way the King and queen were running things. They burned
down stores and stole things and they were no longer following the King's orders. They ended up
killing the King and Queen and replaced them with Napoleon.
The French revolution played a very important role when it came to shaping the way art and
sculpture was done in France. There was the rise of Neoclassicism which was linked to the
Revolution. Artists like Jacques–Louis David served in propaganda programs of the revolutionary
factions as well as Napoleon's. His art was influenced by artists such as Caravagio and Poussin and
adopted their contrasts to color, clear tones and firm contours. "He gave his figures structural mass
and arranged them friezelike in emphatic compositions that were meant to inspire his fellow citizens
to noble action."

Relationships Influenced By Social Media
Gabriel Gibbon
How are the values of teenagers with respect to relationships influenced by the media?
Relationships
Relationships – the way in which two people are connected whether romantically or as
acquaintances/ friends
The main values in any form of relationships are compassion, caring, honesty, integrity and above
all mutual respect. A relationship is a two way street and becomes stronger with the amount of love
and caring you put in. Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles,
this means that you won't cheat, hurt or do anything to put your relationship with a person in
jeopardy.

Foods That Influenced The World Essay
On November 25, we celebrated Thanksgiving. Most people had turkey and dressing, cranberry
sauce and pumpkin pie. While most people think of foods like pecan pie and cornbread stuffing as

culture. I intend to show how much of the food we eat today was first cultivated by the native people
of the Americas. Moreover, the impact this food has had upon the world.

Vodka today commands 20% of the U.S. liquor market, and is one of the most popular drinks

with our fast food chicken, to the potato that is a staple with pot roast, to everybody's favorite
McDonalds french fries.
The tomato is another plant that has acquired global prominence from humble origins. It originated
with the Inca and migrated north to the Maya and the Aztecs, where the Spanish brought it to
Europe, and like its cousin the potato, it is a member of the Nightshade family. The tomato took
sometime to gain a foothold as people believed it to be poisonous, but when it took off, it took off
energetically. The Italians and French were the first to embrace it. Today the tomato is taken for
granted as a common menu item. We consume it everyday in pizza, Italian food, and in almost any
salad you can think of. It is the main ingredient of two of the world's most popular condiment's
ketchup and salsa.
There is another member of the Nightshade family that has made an incredible journey from its
humble origins member is the capsicum or chili pepper. When the Spanish came to the new world
there were only four types of pepper the Cayenne, Bell, Jalapeno, and the Tabasco. The pepper then
began its long strange journey of transformation, and worldwide

What Influenced Elizabethan Fashion
What Influenced Elizabethan Fashion There are many people and instances, like government
officials, celebrities, the events of different time periods, music, and even social media that can
influence the fashion and culture of an era. In early England, more specifically the Elizabethan Era,
much of their culture was influenced by the Royal Family. Not only did the Royal Family have great
impact on the time period, but the laws that enforced how the English were allowed to act and what
they were able to wear affected their culture as well. The fashion during this time was greatly
inspired by the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth I, the citizens' rank, and the laws set in place by
the English Government. The Elizabethan Era, the time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They had no intention of going for a natural, modest, or conservative look; they strived for
elaborate, artificial, stylized, and striking: "As Elizabeth's wardrobe became more opulent and
elaborate, with a more exaggerated silhouette, so did that of her courtiers" (Royal Museums
Greenwich). It was imperative to be fashion forward; meaning, if the Queen was wearing it, so
should everyone else (who could afford it). Queen Elizabeth's dress was similar to men's style with
broad shoulders, wide hips, and slim waists as she tried to appear more petite than she actually was.
Many women during this time followed in her footsteps. Not only did the Queen have a great
influence on women's fashion, but she greatly influenced men's fashion as well. Before the
Elizabethan Era, "Men's fashion was much the same as it had been under her father and brother,
favouring a broad, square silhouette with layers of garments made of rich fabrics" (Royal Museums
Greenwich). After Elizabeth took the throne, the customary dress altered. Men began to wear corsets
to obtain a cinched waist and stuffed 'peascod' doublets to make their stomachs pop out and have a
pointed shape. On top of this, men's dress consisted of underclothes such as a shirt, stockings or
hose, codpiece, and corset and over clothes such as a doublet, separate sleeves, breeches, belt, ruff,
cloak, shoes, and hat.
Another factor that impacted what the population wore during this era was their social status. Not

Who Has Influenced Me?
As I have seen most of my family follow through the pathways of the medical field, it has greatly
influenced me as to where I would like my career path to go. Observing the countless hours family
members have endured throughout their
schooling process and seeing the stress on their faces, it has showed me that my schooling will be no

eye opening and I was able to learn an abundance about my new brothers culture. One of the things
that I will never forget, is the first moments we met David. He ran to my dad and I and told us in
English how much he loved us. This was a major sigh of relief, as we then knew that he was a
wonderful, smart, and healthy little boy, with only slight deformities of his hands and feet. David's
deformities meant he was not able to perform many fine motor skills, but he has overcome these

Contraception And Reproduction Influenced Population
Both contraception and reproduction influenced population in terms of sex, race and social class.
Population control and the term family planning while the same in terms of limiting reproductivity
in families are also completely worlds apart. Population control was brought about by eugenicists
who felt the need to control what they termed as the "unfit" while family planning was more of a
chosen path to limit reproductivity within one 's family. As many women entered both the workplace
and higher education, birth rates had begun to decline. Due to the decline in birth rates, many
individuals feared "race suicide" due to the fact that these women had chosen to use contraceptives
or even sought abortion over being a housewife and bearer of children because "a woman 's
willingness and capacity to bear children" (Rosenberg 351) was thought to be her duty. It was also
believed that this lifestyle also led to sterilization and weak children when the woman decided to
have a family. Enovid (the first oral contraceptive) was viewed as a blessing to women because it
was a contraceptive which was controlled by them and allowed families to space children apart or
simply wait further in their careers to have children. This was also used by unwed women to either
control menstruation or hide sexually promiscuous activities. Before 1900 the average American
woman gave birth to eight children and this would later be cut in half due to contraception.
Contraception is also viewed

Internet Is Influenced By The Internet
Influenced By The Internet
The internet is something that has affected the last few generations. Today's students are affected
immensely because they are young, impressionable, and exposed to many more resources through
the internet. In Andrea Lunsford's article, "Our Semi–Literate Youth? Not So Fast," she and her
research team prove that, when used wisely, the internet is not harming students and enhancing their
writing skills. In Nicholas Carr's article, "Hal And Me," he writes through personal and second hand
experiences about how the internet is reducing people's ability to absorb information. Many people
have different opinions on technology. The ongoing debate is whether or not the internet is affecting
people, mostly the younger generations, in a bad way or in a good way.
Andrea Lunsford, an English professor at Stanford University, states that technology is not hurting
students, but it is helping students. Many people believe that ,while students are on the internet, they
are wasting time and not learning anything. After concluding that students were using the internet
for a substantial amount of time, Andrea Lunsford and her research team discovered that, "rather
than leading to a new illiteracy, these activities [seem] to help [students] develop a range [. . .] of
writing styles, tones and formats along with a range of abilities" (Lunsford 571). The internet
contains many different that students have access to.

Cadets That Influenced Me

  • 1. Cadets That Influenced Me Cadets that have Influenced Me the Most The cadets that have influenced me the most are cadet ensign Reardon and ex–cadet Lt. Cmdr. Lanham. They have influenced me the most because they were the ones that had motivated me to do my best in the program every day, ex–cadet Lt. Cmdr. Lanham had helped me with athletics by supporting me in the Raider program, and they both have inspired me to shoot for high positions in the program. In 8th grade when I was selecting which electives I would take, I was really on edge on whether or not to take NJROTC. When I was still unsure about joining the program, cadet ensign Reardon encouraged me to join, to give it a try. Reardon has helped me with unarmed basic drill when I wasn't clear, and I know that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Actions That Influenced Creon Has anyone ever influenced you actions or effected your mood? In "Antigone" there were multiple people that influenced Creon like Antigone, Harmon and the guard. The one that influenced Creon the most was Haemon. Haemon is Creon son and what he did had not only a huge effect on Creon but others too. There was a scene in Antigone where Haemon is talking to his dad about not hurting Antigone because Antigone is not only his cousin but she's also his wife. There's a point in line 835 where Creon says "Am I to rule this land at someone else's whim or by myself?" Haemon replied with "A city which belongs to just one man is no true city." He's basically saying he's not listening to other people and he's only doing what he wants and not what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Is Language Influenced by Culture? The University of Hong Kong CCHU9042 Human Language: Nature or Nurture? Final Report Is Language Influenced by Culture? Culture and language have long been believed to be intimately interrelated. Defined by anthropologist Tylor (1871, p.1), culture is "that complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, art, law, morals, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society." People learn culture through language. Language, one of the most distinctive characteristics of human, is unique to human with its productive and creative nature (Hockett, 1960). This essay aims to discuss how language is influenced by culture. CL7 and Gossophilia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although I agree with the point that religion shapes people's language, these examples may not be logical enough. Suggested by Crystal (1965), the word "good" has completely different meanings for Christian and non–Christian. "Good" is associated with "penance", "suffering" and "charity" for Christian but "happiness" and "satisfaction" for non–Christian. Their different contextual meaning of "good" could be explained by Christians' belief to pay for their sins through penance and contribute to God through "charity" to fulfill goodness. This piece of evidence may reveal the influence of religion, which is a part of culture, on language. Glossophilia justified social strata's influence on language through honorific speech in Japanese, linguistic imperialism and social classes, with concrete examples, like English's influence on Irish language. Their logical argument and evidence, which are coherent with the evidence about Japanese's politeness marker and honorific speech raised by group CL7, have convinced me. I agree with their point that social strata, as a part of culture, influence how people use language. Both groups emphasize honorific speech of Japanese, which is suitable for this view. It is also supported by Tsujimura (1992) that Japanese uses honorific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. What Influenced The Declaration Of Independence The Declaration of Independence was a statement written and approved by members of the Second Continental Congress in Pennsylvania on July 4, 1776. The Declaration was the colonies announcing that they were officially separated from Great Britain and were independent sovereign states. The Declaration can also be seen as a declaration of war, because they are basically saying that they are breaking off from England and if England wants them back they will have to take them back. The Declaration of Independence influenced the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights by introducing the principles and ideals behind their fair and equitable government. To begin with, many elements of the U.S. Constitution were ideas emphasized in the Declaration ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Eminem's Influenced My Life A person in creative work that has had a major influence on me is probably Eminem. Although he is a rapper, he has influenced me in my writing abilities. As a child I loved poetry, the flow of the poem moved me along with what was being told. It wasn't until I was about 14 when I started writing music to help cope with everyday life. I listened to alot of rap music at the time because I wanted to pursue the career as a rapper in middle school. I was never really good at memorizing lyrics to songs but, as soon as I listened to "Lose Yourself" something sparked inside me. I would blast Eminem as I go to sleep and wake up in the morning rapping. I had slipped into a dark time going into my freshmen year of high school and I constantly wrote ... As I watched this comedy duo on my companion's phone, I felt strangely compelled to keep on watching and couldn't help but feel an urge to ask what in the world I was watching. Then that question was answered with "Nisekoi" and after hearing those words from my companion I started questioning their ability to speak English or any language in a matter of fact. I started telling them they go see a speech therapist for their problems "That with the right help even a microcephalic addlepate as yourself can find a cure." Pretty sure they never realized I was implying that they were an imbecile, it's sad really. Regardless of this they informed me that what I was watching was not any normal animations nor was it from this country actually. They told me that I was watching and I quote "ANIMU" until they correct themselves and said "Anime". I never had a real "Anime" though I had a idea because of how people associated this word with shows like DBZ or that one show with the monster cards. "I put my Pikachu in defence mode I put a poke card facing down and I end my turn." This was proof that I had no real background knowledge behind this concept but putting jokes aside I really didn't know anything about the entire world of anime. My mother is someone who is very sweet and would do anything for her kids as well as her family to make sure they are happy and smiling. As I started to grow up and started to go out and be more independent that is when I started to realize what an impact my mom has on my life. Growing up my parents were divorced and my mom was the one who basically raised me on her own. She showed me right from wrong and guided me and pushed me to do the right things in life and strive for success. As I grew up my mom was always right by my side and accepted my dreams and wanted me to go out and pursue every dream I have. And now looking back at everything my mom has taught me I can't thank her enough! Because without my mom pushing me to succeed, being there for me when times were tough and being a forgiving person I would not be where I am today. My mother's name is Heather and she is 38 years old. My mother and I look like sisters. She has dark brown hair, brown eyes how ever the only difference is she is only five feet tall! They were both people that wanted to persuade others to follow their cause, and They did , in different ways. When reading these works, it is easy to see the ties between, the writers Thoreau and Gandhi. In civil disobedience it's about his protest, which talked about his issues with the government and the night that he spent in jail , and Gandhi's works speaks about the protest and how it was going to happen. Thoreau speaks about his poll tax and how he should keep what he worked for . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... it's obvious that the two styles are mainly because of their influences. On one hand, Thoreau mainly based his writing style off of Transcendentalism and Romanticism. They were both against violence at this time and did not want anyone to be hurt . They both also wanted their opinions to come out into the open. Both of them wanted the people to hear them out. They had more differences than they did similarities, Gandhi was trying to get other people that shared his belief. He stayed hungry for 6 days. Gandhi was explaining to the other people that even if he and others should get arrested while they were protesting the tax, until they have their tax gone. The lesson of all this was to show that the civil rights movement in the u.s was a big impact to stop this taxation. Thoreau was an activist and did not confront the government right away or try to recruit citizens to fight against the wrongs. Both Gandhi and Thoreau were willing to make these sacrifices to pressure the government. Thoreau influenced civil disobedience which made him different. He also stood out because he was also a privileged white man. Through his eyes in the text It says "you can struggle without hating; you can fight wars without violence." • 17. What Influenced Her Work? What influenced her work? The first experience that shaped Collins' scholarship occurred during her time instituting a new curriculum at St. Joseph Community School, an educational center for underprivileged children of color, which sought to engage young students in thinking critically about power systems and intellectual activism. At this stage in her career, she focused on developing curriculum and teaching herself new information to fill in gaps in her knowledge in order to provide historical and social frameworks for the lessons she taught her students. This experience "shaped the thematic approaches and theoretical perspectives" of her scholarship. Collins' experiences teaching were fundamental to the development of her ideology. She began teaching undergrad African– American studies courses when the field was still relatively new to academia and was therefore seen as invalid. Her goal was to teach social justice to her classes full of Black students, primarily women, "finding a way to speak to them and not just about them." Teaching Black studies challenged Collins to find new ways to get through to students and answer questions which constructed the process of writing Black Feminist Thought. The material she wrote was then used to teach a course on contemporary Black women. After this, Collins discovered two questions that would provide guidance for her scholarship in the decades to come: "what accounts for social justice?" and "what can we do to foster social ... This is exactly what we see illustrated in this story a person who did not have a solid foundation in God. We saw how he started to grow and then got sucked into all this sin and started to crumble because he did not have a solid foundation in God. I believe that if you want to grow in life you need to have a strong foundation in God and on top of that a solid foundation in family and friends. There are many things that have influenced this worldview and one of them would be the book we read in eighth The Cross And The Switchblade. This work of literature impacted my worldview by showing me that a solid foundation looks like. In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like the Cross and the Switchblade, we see a man who had a solid foundation in Christ, Martin Luther. He had such a solid foundation in Christ and in the Bible that it did not even shift in the face of such hatred and even death. In Bible class we looked at a story that stressed the importance of a solid foundation, and that was the story of Solomon. In Solomon's story we see a story much like the story that we just read. In the beginning of Solomon's reign he was a very good Christian and was close with God, but once he got sucked into sin he started to fall astray. He go so powerful and because he did not have a solid foundation in God he crumbled. Finally, there is one other event in my life that impacted my worldview and this was when my house almost blew up during Hurricane Sandy. During the storm a tree fell down and knocked over a power line that melted through the street, an inch above the gas line that lead to my house. Because of this my family, my cousins, and my grandparents had to evacuate because it was not safe to stay in our house. They have influenced me in my everyday life and so many great musicians in the past 50 years. This fact alone, makes it hard to imagine that they were once influenced by someone else. While doing some research, I found various artists that influenced them through the beginning of their careers until the very end. In the following paragraphs, I will be sharing with you a few of the artists I thought to be the most influential to The Beatles extremely successful career and why I thought them to be so influential. In their youth, The Beatles were avid followers of early forms of Rock and Roll. Skiffle was a popular form of music in post war Britain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "John was fascinated not only with Presley's voice, but also by the jagged guitar work that propelled 'Heartbreak Hotel'" (Hall 1). The Beatles admired him not only for his music, but for his style. They quickly slicked their hair back, got sideburns, tight jeans called "drainpipes", and crepe–soled shoes, all in true Elvis style. John was so inspired by Elvis, that it drove him to create his first skiffle group called The Quarrymen. Another early influence of The Beatles, was one of the most influential guitar players of early rock and roll, Chuck Berry. Berry was known for cultivation and development of rhythm and blues music. He is known as one of rock and roll's pioneers. Not only was Berry's style heard a lot in early Beatles albums, his songs "Roll Over Beethoven" and "Rock and Roll Music" were later covered by The Beatles. In 1963, The Beatles reached their first number one hit. Though "Please Please Me" has more of a high energy fast tempo, the song was inspired by Roy Orbison's 1960 hit "Only the Lonely". It was John Lennon's attempt at writing a Roy Orbison song. The Beatles were fond of Roy Orbison's song writing and distinct singing approach. "Roy Orbison had one of the most distinctive and expressive voices, with a three to four octave range to match, in rock and pop music" (Tranquillo 24). Was it his background, his past, or was it the way he grew up and learned. There are many factors that come into play when trying to depict what exactly influenced an author. A lot of people believe that he was heavily influenced by California, where he lived. As many as nine of his works were proven to be based off of some part of california life in his time. But not all of his inspiration could simply come from California. John Steinbeck was born and raised in Salinas, California, a town well known for farming and being poor. "Of Mice and Men", his talks about the dreams of a pair of migrant laborers, Lenny and George, working on a farm, is now quite well known. That novel was followed by what most people believe is Steinbeck's best book, "Grapes Of Wrath", which was based on articles he had written in San Francisco, and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1940. His talks of the poor conditions eventually caught the attention of Eleanor Roosevelt, who raised the standards, telling Congress to fix the bad parts of the labor laws and camp conditions. In all 17 of his works became movies or screenplays. After some of his success in writing steinbeck began working as a war correspondent for the NY Tribune. He kept journals of his work and places he went, usually taking notes that did not get into his books, but they were interesting and entertaining. Although the FBI never actually looked at him, Steinbeck did come to attention because of his political ideas, and he was interviewed by the Army for a commission. They declined to offer because of his "unsuitability due to psychological issues.". They basically deemed him a psychopath. He ended up writing a letter to a U.S. Attorney General in 1942. He asked, "Do you think you could ask Edgar 's men to stop stepping on my heels? They think I'm an enemy. It is getting tiresome." I have decided to base my assignment on World War 2 and investigate the impact it has had on fashion culture as a whole. I have chosen a history based theme for my assignment as I personally believe that history plays a main part in today's fashion culture, and I also think it is very interesting to see how designers today revive fashion from the past. Military styling and lines influenced fashions at the start of the war, "women often wore trousers, or a one– piece siren suit" (Harris, C., 2009) this illustrates that it would be easier for women to wear trousers or one piece siren suits as it could be pulled on quickly when an air raid warning siren sounded. Headgear became practical, as it kept hair out of the way rather than as a fashion statement. Large handbags were also used to carry all the family's ration books which suggest that they were also practical rather than fashionable accessories. Holman, B., The Women of World War II Memorial (illustration 2) I consider that women going to work during the World War 2 had a huge impact on today's society. This is due to the fact that most women have jobs, whether they are married, single, or have children. Another aspect which was influenced by the World War 2 was that military outfits are seen as fashionable and garments today incorporate elements onto the outfit. Lastly another aspect which has carried on since the war is that women wear trousers a lot more than what they did before the World War 2. Paul Poiret's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to De Cenzo et al., (1996), people who are motivated use a greater effort to perform a job than those who are not motivated. Motivation can be defined as "a series of energizing forces that originate both with and beyond an individual's self". These forces determine the person's behavior and therefore, influence his/her productivity (Jackson, 2005). In other words this means that all thinkable factors of physical or psychological aspects that we interact with, leads to a reaction within our self or of the entire organization. • 29. Who Is Influenced By Stanislavsky When devising our piece, I was influenced by Stanislavsky. Some important aspects of our performance sway from Stanislavsky's natural realism. Stanislavsky believes that emotions should come from within one, within the emotional memories one has experienced. However, Stanislavsky acknowledges that it is a highly demanding technique and affirms that it should immediately be stopped when one is experiencing mental breakdowns. Furthermore, Stanislavsky expresses that although he believes acting should come from within, the actor should not be too carried away in the moment as he wouldn't have a variety of emotions produced making the performance watchable at first, but then slowly dragging; a bit like someone repeating the same joke over, and over again. Furthermore, if the actor is carried away, in a realism production, he will jump right to the end emotionally and textually, a bit like revealing that Macbeth is killed by Macduff in the first act of Shakespeare's Macbeth. ... The formal definition of democracy is a form of government by the people, but what we need to further evaluate what this really means. The first element of the Constitution I want to dive into is the three branches of government, otherwise knows as the legislative branch, the executive branch, and the judicial branch. The ideal of the Constitution was to give America a healthy, stable, and legitimate government with limited powers to avoid conflicts between authority and the people. In other words, the Constitution was designed to dodge totalitarianism. In order to avoid this form of government, the Constitution came up with an elaborate way to separate powers between the government and the result was the three branches of government. The three branches of government's job was to ensure a fair and strong government by equally separating power among the three. It's job as a whole was also to prevent too much power or the abuse of power to one central person in the government. Although this may seem like enough information on how this affects democracy, we still need to assess exactly what the three branches of government do for us as the people and how it represents the people of the

The blogs by Diane Ravitch were very interesting. The blogs were concerning Common Core, Unions, and the best way to learn how to read. I found it interesting that the knowledge sustained in these blogs would be so helpful in guiding my purpose of teaching. The blogs influenced my thinking about the purpose of social studies in that social studies gives us so much background to where we've come from, what we as a society have accomplished, and most importantly who we are us citizens. The blogs reinforced the opinion of many people across the U.S. and that is that Common Core is flawed. The parents would not opt out of a program just because they felt it was too hard for their students. The outrage and boycott comes from the effect the grading of the tests has on a teachers overall performance as a teacher. Using common core testing as a rubric for teachers in my opinion is blatantly wrong and the statistics from the American Statistical Association show that "teachers affect 1–14% of the variation in student scores, while the family and home have a greater % effect" (NY Daily News, Ravitch.net). • 40. What Influenced The American Revolution Throughout the years of 1750–1914, an age of revolutions broke out, causing a global change in politics. The Enlightenment Ideals influenced this worldwide change, from the social contract, separation of power, and natural rights. The social contract influenced the revolutions when all middle/lower class people wanted equality in their country. Natural rights take place in the worldwide revolutions because everyone wants to live with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Some documents that influence these revolutions are the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, and The Saint–Domingue Constitution of 1801. Natural rights influenced the French and Latin American Revolutions because the citizens of these areas were yearning for change and needed a government that would influence equality, and create a constitution to drop the hierarchy of citizens, and fabricate a civil, utopian society that the citizens actually would appreciate a lifestyle that acknowledges political and social freedom. The first myths is that all of the settlers came to America, seeking religious freedom. Secondly, all of the settlers were from the middle of the English social class and brought their families with them. Thirdly, early America was created as a land where everyone had a chance to succeed and the English class system was forgotten. Lastly, that the new settlers had forgotten England's laws and built their own unique legal system. While some accuracy exists in these four myths, various misconceptions exist in them as well. Therefore, a large majority of the English settlers went to America for reason other than religious freedom. In fact, most of the settlers left to pursue work, because they thought America would provide them with better employment options than England. Thus, the fact that most of the early settlers left England for better work opportunities. Rather than leaving for religious freedom, finely illustrates the inaccuracy of this myth. For the second myth, some of the settlers in early virginia were from the middle of England's societal ranking and brought their families with. The people the second myth is referring were the ones who acquired the indentured servants to work on their farms. Sense three–fourths of the settlers came as indentured servants, that leaves very little room for the people who own them. Therefore, a few of the settlers and their families were from England's middle social ranking. In addition, these few middle class settlers with families proves that the second myth isn't completely inaccurate. Conversely, the myth about every settler in early Virginia being from the middle class and bringing a family is full of misconceptions. By the end of the century his prophecy was reality. Key reason to expand pivoted around the European economy. The industrial revolution in Europe had changed the landscape from rural agricultural to urban industrialised. What Influenced Elizabethan Fashion What Influenced Elizabethan Fashion There are many people and instances, like government officials, celebrities, the events of different time periods, music, and even social media that can influence the fashion and culture of an era. In early England, more specifically the Elizabethan Era, much of their culture was influenced by the Royal Family. Not only did the Royal Family have great impact on the time period, but the laws that enforced how the English were allowed to act and what they were able to wear affected their culture as well. It was imperative to be fashion forward; meaning, if the Queen was wearing it, so should everyone else (who could afford it). Queen Elizabeth's dress was similar to men's style with broad shoulders, wide hips, and slim waists as she tried to appear more petite than she actually was. Many women during this time followed in her footsteps. Not only did the Queen have a great influence on women's fashion, but she greatly influenced men's fashion as well. Before the Elizabethan Era, "Men's fashion was much the same as it had been under her father and brother, favouring a broad, square silhouette with layers of garments made of rich fabrics" (Royal Museums Greenwich). After Elizabeth took the throne, the customary dress altered. Men began to wear corsets to obtain a cinched waist and stuffed 'peascod' doublets to make their stomachs pop out and have a pointed shape. On top of this, men's dress consisted of underclothes such as a shirt, stockings or hose, codpiece, and corset and over clothes such as a doublet, separate sleeves, breeches, belt, ruff, cloak, shoes, and hat. Another factor that impacted what the population wore during this era was their social status. Not only were women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Who Has Influenced Me? As I have seen most of my family follow through the pathways of the medical field, it has greatly influenced me as to where I would like my career path to go. Observing the countless hours family members have endured throughout their schooling process and seeing the stress on their faces, it has showed me that my schooling will be no easy process and that it is going to take a lot of hard work and dedication to reach the goal I plan on reaching. "With stress, comes great reward", my step mom would always say as she would stare at her computer screen and study. She is the one who has influenced me the most to become an RN and start this journey of mine. Through all the answered questions and feedback she has given me about the negative aspects of this career path, it has made me want to achieve this goal even more. Watching the successful people in my family has greatly impacted my views on school and how I will approach it. Its time to buckle down and start studying. Although school hasn 't been the most important thing in my life throughout my teenage years, I do believe it is beginning to be with how hard I have been working on my college courses and how much my family has influenced me. In past years of my schooling process I would walk from class to class with nothing but the thought of the clock striking the two–thirty mark for my release. Watching my instructors stand before me with mouths moving, but nothing seeming to come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Who Influenced The American Revolutionaries Every human idea has been derived from those who thought before them. From Greek philosophical advancements the world has achieved democracy. From Roman militarization the world has achieved the chain–of–power used in almost every modern military. From Bolshevik anarchy, accompanied by unlimited power, the world understands that communism is unachievable. If every human idea has been derived from somewhere, then we must be able to find those who influenced the American Revolutionaries. First we have to determine what aspects of these Revolutionaries was more than simple common sense, and what was planned, developed, and derived from strategies and beliefs held from those before them. To do this, we have to understand who these Revolutionaries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 70. Obstacles That Influenced My Life Throughout my life I have experienced and overcome different obstacles that have shaped me to be the person I am. My life has been influenced the most by the adoption of my two brothers. My parents had always wanted to grow our family through adoption, and finally when I was about nine we decided to take a leap of faith, and adopt from China. Even from the young age of nine, I knew this was going to be a major life changing event. After what seemed like an eternity, my family was given the approval to adopt my brother from China. This was the beginning of a very new, exciting, yet scary adventure. Knowing that Daniel had a cleft palate and lip, which to my parents was no big deal, and could be easily fixed through surgery and speech therapy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was a major decision, given that we already had Daniel who required tremendous attention. We were all scared, as to what if this second child would also have disabilities. After lots of prayers, two years later along with my father, I was on my way to China meet David. This experience was a very eye opening and I was able to learn an abundance about my new brothers culture. One of the things that I will never forget, is the first moments we met David. He ran to my dad and I and told us in English how much he loved us. This was a major sigh of relief, as we then knew that he was a wonderful, smart, and healthy little boy, with only slight deformities of his hands and feet. David's deformities meant he was not able to perform many fine motor skills, but he has overcome these through a few surgeries and perseverance. His surgeries, and hand deformities were the main inspiration for me to pursue a career in medicine. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to watch him go through this process, of surgeries, and therapy. Seeing him go through this, and going to doctors appointments with him was very intriguing for me, and I am very grateful that David's surgeon was so willing to allow me to watch and teach ... • 72. Contraception And Reproduction Influenced Population Both contraception and reproduction influenced population in terms of sex, race and social class. Population control and the term family planning while the same in terms of limiting reproductivity in families are also completely worlds apart. Population control was brought about by eugenicists who felt the need to control what they termed as the "unfit" while family planning was more of a chosen path to limit reproductivity within one 's family. As many women entered both the workplace and higher education, birth rates had begun to decline. Due to the decline in birth rates, many individuals feared "race suicide" due to the fact that these women had chosen to use contraceptives or even sought abortion over being a housewife and bearer of children because "a woman 's willingness and capacity to bear children" (Rosenberg 351) was thought to be her duty. It was also believed that this lifestyle also led to sterilization and weak children when the woman decided to have a family. Enovid (the first oral contraceptive) was viewed as a blessing to women because it was a contraceptive which was controlled by them and allowed families to space children apart or simply wait further in their careers to have children. This was also used by unwed women to either control menstruation or hide sexually promiscuous activities. Before 1900 the average American woman gave birth to eight children and this would later be cut in half due to contraception. Contraception is also viewed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Internet Is Influenced By The Internet Influenced By The Internet The internet is something that has affected the last few generations. Today's students are affected immensely because they are young, impressionable, and exposed to many more resources through the internet. In Andrea Lunsford's article, "Our Semi–Literate Youth? Not So Fast," she and her research team prove that, when used wisely, the internet is not harming students and enhancing their writing skills. In Nicholas Carr's article, "Hal And Me," he writes through personal and second hand experiences about how the internet is reducing people's ability to absorb information. Many people have different opinions on technology. The ongoing debate is whether or not the internet is affecting people, mostly the younger generations, in a bad way or in a good way. Andrea Lunsford, an English professor at Stanford University, states that technology is not hurting students, but it is helping students. Many people believe that ,while students are on the internet, they are wasting time and not learning anything. After concluding that students were using the internet for a substantial amount of time, Andrea Lunsford and her research team discovered that, "rather than leading to a new illiteracy, these activities [seem] to help [students] develop a range [. . .] of writing styles, tones and formats along with a range of abilities" (Lunsford 571). The internet contains many different that students have access to. Many people believe that the internet is making too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. What Factors Influenced Survival Some of the factors contributing to survival of people with Alzheimer's disease were not too unexpected, such as age and gender. In general, those two factors affect our lifespan so it makes sense that it still applies to those with Alzheimer's disease. What was more surprising was finding out that disease severity does not impact survival rate. The article states "Neither disease severity at baseline nor time–dependent changes in the MMSE score influenced survival" (Rountree, Chan, Pavlik, Darby, & Doody, 2012). I was expecting to find out severity would lessen survival rate. What factors influenced survival in the article? What factors did not? You could have learned about them through books, television, or meeting them in person. For me, I just happened to have had a great influence that lived right under my roof. It was my sister Althea. What made her so special was that she was the second matriarch of the family, as well as a great role model for all her siblings. As the eldest girl and second oldest of eight, Althea was the one everyone looked to for direction. My eldest brother was in the army so I didn't see much of him growing up along with the fact that our mother worked in the operating room at a hospital doing the 3 to 11 shift, put Althea in charge.
