Borderline Personality Disorder Research
Family and partner of a consumer with borderline personality disorder play an important role in
supporting with recovery. Health practitioners should acknowledge and respect their support. With
the consent of the consumer, health care professionals should include families and partner when
developing a plan. However some consumers may choose not to involve their family or partner
hence, health practitioners should regard consumers wish and offer them a chance to change their
mind later.
Consumers with BPD lack family support, which imposes on their opportunities to involve actively

It's overwarming and frightening for the family or partner to offer help specially if they had
distressing experience. However by educating the family and partner on how they can cope with the
consumer symptoms they would have a better relationship. Its vital the family and partner
understand that BPD is a mental illness that is result from interaction between genetic, biological
and environment vulnerabilities rather that a behavior that the consumer has developed as a result of
their own action. Families and partners need to be willing to try to understand the experience of the
consumer with a non–judgmental attitude. When consumers experience uncontrolled emotions they
usually direct their anger towards those closest such as family and partners. Family and partners
should improve their way of communicating with the consumer. Listening is a key element of
communication, listening consumers expressions and their desires and respecting their ideas, it

My Mother 's Resilience Inspired Me Day By Day
Steam filled the dense cubicle apartment as my mother cooked, cleaned, showered and dressed.
Despite her exhaustion and swollen ankles from hours spent on white floors of the hospital, she'd
stand erect as a building, asking me to recite the words learned that day and review my homework. I
knew daren't turn on the TV during the weekday. When managing me and work became too much,
she'd take me to work. During the commutes she whispered little words of wisdom, one was to "be
still, listen and be vigilant".
Soon I had two siblings, and I became the second–mother of the family. Our father was a lost cause,
constantly belittling my mother my family and myself for no valid reason; he said to me "You'll
never succeed". My mother's resilience inspired me day by day. Susie, my loving aunt and reflection
of my mother also stood by our family side and served as a protector against my father. She told me
to keep going, to never look back, I am important, my grades matter, and that I was beautiful.
My mother and I were with my aunt during her grim diagnosis of ovarian cancer; we sat
apprehensively for hours in the waiting room. We were please at the sound of remission, but for
long. Her last bittersweet moments were spent with us in her apartment. We braided her hair and
cooked her dinner. We wiped the salty mixture of sweat and tears off our faces. When she passed my

Melinda Gates And Partners In Health: A Humanitarian Analysis
Humanitarianism encompasses a wide range of definitions which all ultimately revolve around a
single desire to improve human welfare. Two notable humanitarians are Melinda Gates, a
businesswoman and wife of billionaire, Bill Gates, and Paul Farmer, an anthropologist and
physician. The respective philanthropic organizations they each co–founded and operate, the Bill
and Melinda Gates Foundation and Partners in Health, share a common devotion towards improving
the quality of life of the people living in the most impoverished parts of the world (Kidder, 2003;
Klug, 2010). The methods their organizations use to provide humanitarian aid, and the impacts these
organization have, share some similarities, but also differ in many ways. Their contrasting ... Show

The goal of the Gates foundation, as stated earlier, is to save the greatest number of lives possible,
and thus, provide healthcare to as many people as they can reach (Klug, 2010). Evaluating people as
statistics means that a systematic approach is the most effective method of finding how the money
from the foundation can reach and impact the maximum number of lives. Although seemingly
effective and reasonable, this notion that people are simply numbers in a book often strikes a nerve
in many people. In the preface of Singer's book, numerous statistics of the number of children dying
across the world from preventable diseases and issues are thrown into the reader's face (Singer,
2009). Yet despite the magnitude of the numbers, the deindividualization of these children by
reducing them to mere numbers has a numbing effect on the reader. Thus, when Melinda Gates
states that she needs "to be here, to see it to feel it, and to understand what motivates these people.
What is it that they are doing for their livelihood. Unless I see it and feel it and touch it, I just don't
feel like I can do the foundation justice in terms what of we are trying to accomplish," it makes one
imagine that she might feel such a strong urge to be present at the site of aid in order to grasp an
idea of whose lives she

Cost to Employees and Employers The cost of healthcare is on the rise and no end to this crisis is in
sight. Most people believe all employers should offer health insurance to its employees; however,
with the cost of healthcare so high companies who offer these benefits are trying to find ways to
offset costs. If all employers did offer health, dental, and life insurance, who would cover the cost?
A survey administered by the Commonwealth Fund titled The Public's Views on Healthcare Reform
in the 2008 Presidential Election asked that question to 3,500 randomly selected adults. 70% of
people surveyed thought the cost should be shared equally between the employer, employees, and
the government. 80% of the people surveyed also thought that if an employer did not offer health
insurance they should contribute to the cost of coverage (Lubell, 2008). Tax Equity The Tax Equity
for Domestic Partner and Health Plan Beneficiaries Act of 2007 was introduced March 29, 2007.
The act states employers offering healthcare insurance have to provide healthcare coverage to
domestic partners, same–sex or opposite sex. This law has been added to stop federal tax
inequalities same–sex couples currently face when receiving healthcare benefits offered by their
employers (Postal, 2007). The new law significantly affected employers in the Northeast and
Western states because 42% of larger companies in the

Psychologists teach patients new coping strategies during difficult stressful times in their lives. They
conduct therapeutic interviews and provide counselling. They offer a confidential, non–judgemental
place to talk and learn copying strategies for achieving better mental health.
Social Workers
Social workers within the mental health sector require further study and have had to have completed
the necessary post–qualifying requirements. Once this is done they are qualified to involuntarily
detain a patient under the mental health act.
They are normally employed by social services. They have a distinctive role within multi–agency
settings. They work with the patient and their families. They work with the patient with mental
health problems to help identify and realise their own needs. Working with the families and
explaining to the family what their needs are and how to accommodate them while still having a life
themselves.
Social workers are also there for patients and families that may have had a negative experience
within the mental health services and make it a positive experience.

Partners In Health Mission John Locke Summary
In the short piece, Partners in Health Mission, it explains the goal of this company which is to
overall help the people suffering with poverty by giving these people healthcare. This statement uses
the ideas of equality and preservation of life by trying to give people embellished with poverty the
ability to be health like the rest of the world. This company's goals and values mainly line up with
the ideals and philosophies of enlightenment philosopher John Locke. This is due to the idea of
preserving life because it is a humans natural right to live and is sense of equality in which everyone
receives equal healthcare treatment. Ultimately, this piece uses the ideals and philosophies of John
Locke in the modern day to try to preserve life and create a sense of equality among people. Is a
health care the right of the people who maintain and help society function or is it a privilege for the
rich and famous and is luxury for the middle case? This question has ... Show more content on

Sadly, their has never been a correct answer to this question, but according to the ideals of Locke,
healthcare should be an individuals right because every human has the right to live, breathe, obtain
property and happiness, and finally be healthy. Locke stated, "The natural right of all man is, life,
liberty, and property." This was later adapted into the because of the right that every person can live,
healthcare should be considered a right. This is mainly focused on the idea that because healthcare
healths and betters a person's right to live it should be considered a right of the people and not a
privilege. This ultimately illustrates the idea that healthcare is right, due to it being a sense of well
being and security that if a person gets sick or contracts a horrific disease, this person can seek help

Turning Today's Bloody Healthcare Market Blue
When discussing healthcare, "blue" and "red" are adjectives typically associated with the color of a
patient's veins and blood. However, from the executive's point of view, these two adjectives mean
something completely different. In the healthcare field, there are two market strategies: red ocean
strategy and blue ocean strategy. "Red Oceans" represent the pre–identified market place which is
comprised of all the types of businesses which are actively participating in the industry day. In
contrast, "Blue Oceans" represent the unknown market place, i.e. all the types of businesses not

Value Innovation is accomplished by creating exceptional value for the customer while,
simultaneously, creating high profits for the company (Pritchett, 2014). At its core, the true goal of
The Affordable Care Act is value innovation; lowering the cost of healthcare and improving patient
outcomes. It is through compliance with these measures that health care providers will realize high
profits. The ACA creates significant barriers for small practices and those who are not willing to
comply with meaningful use measures. Although the healthcare industry is considerably a red
ocean, a blue ocean is attainable. Overcoming the red ocean of healthcare requires one to become
more than just a health care provider. Through the efforts of physician collaboration, electronic
health record system interconnectivity, and establishment of health protocols that witness proven
high outcomes, Ochsner Physician Partners has successfully achieved the blue ocean strategy for the
healthcare industry.

Haitian Health Care : A Follow Up
According to the article Haitian Health Care: A Follow–up (2011) it noted that, in January 2010,
46% of Haitians did not have access to health care, because they could not afford it or because there
was no health center near them" (Haitian Health Care: A Follow–up 2011, np.) I personally believe
that regardless of ones' economic or social status; people should have access to sufficient healthcare.
When a person can go to the hospital or any other facility where they can receive medical treatment,
the only humane thing to do is to help that person. Dr. Paul Farmer, also believes that healthcare
should be accessible to people from all walks of life; especially in those areas where medical care

Dr. Farmer noted in the Mountains beyond Mountains book (2003) written by Tracey Kidder, that
Haiti has increased rates of infant mortality, tuberculosis, malnutrition, HIV and AIDS. In an article
published by Sophie Arie; titled What's next for Haiti's healthcare? (2011) notes that, "Haiti has the
highest rates of infant, under–five and maternal mortality in the Western hemisphere. Diarrhea,
respiratory infections, malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS are the leading causes of death" (Arie
2011, 340). As with every decision that a person makes; the pros and cons must be thoroughly
examined; especially when charitable contributions of money are involved. Two pros to inspect, as
it relates to making a donation to Dr. Farmer's charitable enterprises, would be the fact that your
charitable donations has the potential to stop the spread of infectious diseases to the states or other
countries; especially after natural disasters wreak havoc on the already struggling countries. When
people hear about the turmoil going on in other countries; it pulls at our heartstrings, and without
always thinking rationally, we send over monetary donations to charitable organizations by the
truckloads. In some cases red flags go up; often when it's too late. One con, which could resort from
donating to Dr. Farmer's charity enterprises would be if the funds are being properly used to help
with achieving the mission of the organization. Natural Disasters, mixed in with a lack of resources,

Ethical Dilemma of Hiv Disclosure in Intimate Relationships
HIV Prevention with Positives in Thailand: Ethical Dilemma of HIV Status Disclosure in intimate
relationship.
Abstract
Every year, there are about ten thousand new HIV infection cases in Thailand. The majority of new
HIV transmissions in Thailand have changed from commercial sex to intimate relationships while
HIV prevention generally focuses on self protection and universal precaution. In 2003, Center for
Disease Control and Prevention recommend to integrate HIV preventive measure into routine HIV
care. According to a survey of People Living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) in Thailand, 45% of
HIV infections came from transmission between spouses and 10% believed that their partners knew
their HIV status before having a relationship. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of these preventive measures aim at self protection of the general HIV–negative population
and vulnerable groups. HIV–positive people have not been included in prevention strategies and
messages. Fear of further stigmatization exclude concept of responsibility for health of sexual
partner as an alternative strategy and prevention program. (Bayer 1996) However research has
shown that after most PLWHA learn their HIV status they reduce their unprotected sex, though
some still engage in unsafe sex.(Janssen, Holtgrave, Valdiserri et al. 2001; Marks, Richardson,
Crepaz et al. 2002) In 2003, the Centers for Disease Control recommended the 'Prevention with
Positives' strategy to promote sexual health among PLWHA attending HIV/AIDS clinic and to help
reduce onward HIV transmission.(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2003) Positive
prevention was recommended by UNAIDS (the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS); it has
been implemented in industrialized countries, and should be a priority in high–prevalence regions.
(Bunnell R, J. and K 2006)
Advance in medical treatment, especially antiretroviral treatment have improved quality of life and
prolongs survival. Antiretroviral treatment also reduces the probability of HIV transmission by
reducing virus to undetectable level. (Vernazzaa, Hirschelb, Bernasconic et al. 2008)

Coming up with development strategies can be difficult because it is not a one shoe fits all concept.
Many different countries and organizations have their own development plans that specifically fit
their needs, for example; in class we learned that Africa as well as Europe and North America and
Asia have their own development plans special to their wishes and desires. For Partners in Health, I
would focus on donations and getting the organization more widely popular. This organization
already has well–known sponsors such as the American Cancer Society and the Ronald McDonald
House so I would reach out to more businesses and encourage them to donate. There are a variety of
development strategies but there is only about one or two that would be useful for Partners in
Health. One development strategy that would not work would be the import substitution
industrialization strategy because it is a trade and economic policy which advocates replacing
foreign imports with domestic production. It is based on the premise that a country should attempt
to reduce its foreign dependency through the local production of industrialized

Quantitative Research Article Review Essay
Quantitative Research Article Review The quantitative research article that I chose to review was a
study completed by Dougherty and Thompson (2009), found in Research in Nursing & Health. Very
few researchers have focused their study on the impact of cardiac arrest and ICD implantation on a
patient's intimate partner. What little is known about caregiving responsibilities and caregiver
burden after a cardiac illness or event has previously been focused on the spousal experiences

Since little is known about the stated subject, this study was performed to better understand the
experience and impact of ICD implantation after cardiac arrest on a patient's intimate partner. I
believe that this study falls into the basic research category. According to Knapp (1998), "research
that is designed primarily to extend the knowledge base in a discipline by contributing to theory
generation or theory testing is called basic research" (p. 6). The study's purpose is to extend
knowledge and to better understand human experiences regarding the physical, psychological,
emotional, and psychosocial impact of cardiac arrest and ICD implantation on a patient's intimate
partner. At the end of the study, researchers did declare that further research is needed on the topic
and that intimate partners may benefit from an intervention that would assist them with the
following: their psychological adjustment, learning how to manage the impact of ICD's on their
relationship, and learning how to effectively deal with the caregiver strain that is associated with
caring for loved ones after a cardiac event.
Research Questions, Hypotheses, and Design The study that was reviewed did not explicitly state
any research questions or hypotheses; rather, a study purpose was noted. In the research study

Project aims and significance
Intimate partner violence (IPV) has been recognised as an issue which needs to be addressed due to
its negative consequences on health of individuals. The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) as any act between intimate relations which results into physical,
emotional, sexual trauma or any other form of restriction or isolation from family and friends which
can lead to undesirable health outcomes (Organization, 2012). Violence do exists between intimate
partners with women becoming more victims than men (Hall, Chappell, Parnell, Seed, & Bewley,
2014). In Victoria, it had accounted for 7.9% of overall disease burden among women of
reproductive age (Vos et al., 2006). According to WHO global report on violence, more than 35% of

Paul Farmer Partners In Health Summary
Introduction This paper provides an analysis of the work of Paul Farmer, and the members of
Partners in Health exemplifies the three fields of medical anthropology (ecological–
epidemiological, critical and interpretive). This paper hypothesizes that diseases can be caused by
various factors while the other factors that are mentioned in this paper are associated with the cause.
Ecological–epidemiological This is the approach in medical anthropology that analysis how the
ecology or the natural environment cause or are related to specific health issues or diseases for that
matter. The conditions under which the people in Haiti lived helped Farmer explain how health
issues arise (Vine, 2013). Population pressure due to displacement led to congested ... Show more

Different cultural groups have different ways of defining various diseases and other health issues.
Farmer argues that the people in Haiti and India have various cultures that may define some of their
health issues. Farmer explained that this approach helped him determine how the diseases occurred
based on the cultural definitions of these cultures. The members of Partners Health also argued that
some of the cultural meanings such as childbirth could highly determine the health issues
experienced in a certain ethnical group. This means that the occurrence of certain diseases is linked
with the meanings that the specific cultural group associates with it. Conclusion The above
discussions shows how Farmer and the members of Partners in Health tried to exemplify the three
fields of medical anthropology; ecological–epidemiological, critical and interpretive approaches.
This is however not to state these as the causes of these health issues or diseases. They are however
some of the contributing or associated factors to these health issues. Each of these approaches helps
anthropologists come up with the various causes or factors associated with health issues in certain

Mountains Beyond Mountains Summary
"Dokte Paul." the first part of the book titled Mountains Beyond Mountains, begins when author and
journalist Tracy Kidder first met Dr. Farmer in Haiti. Kidder describes Dr. Farmer as a "big–shot"
Boston doctor who has chosen to do humanitarian–type work in Haiti even though he could have an
easy career as a lecturer back in Boston. Kidder realizes that Dr. Farmer is the atypical doctor who
would rather get to know his patients as people and cares about their health holistically instead of
just treating the symptoms and moving on. The next year, Dr. Farmer invites Kidder back to Haiti
with him, and Kidder begins to observe Dr. Farmer at work. Kidder notices that Dr. Farmer's
patients and co–workers call him "Dokte Paul;" the word "dokte" is Haitian Creole for "doctor."
Kidder also observes the unsanitary conditions of life in the Cange region of Haiti. There, Dr.
Farmer established the charity called Zamni Lasante, which is Haitian Creole for "friend health."
This charity not only provides low–cost or free medical care, it also builds houses and schools. Dr.
Farmer often uses his own money to help keep the charity going, and lives very modestly despite
being a successful physician. Dr. Farmer begins educating journalist Kidder about the Haitian
people, the health issues they face, and some of their superstitions. He also explains the Haitian
proverb, 'mountains beyond mountains," which means that for every metaphorical mountain a

Intimate partner violence is a dangerous and frightening issue threatening women worldwide.
Intimate partner violence, also known as domestic violence, describes a cycle of abuse that involves

To take a closer look at the financing, the proposal to date is that the general partners will be made
up of the group and the hospital. The general partners will contribute $500,000 and will retain 100%
management control over the hospital. The limited partners will supply $500,000 but have no
liability beyond the initial investment. The hospital will borrow $1 million from Miami National
Bank for a five year term with interest rates of 8%. This initial $2 million will purchase and pay for
the start up costs associated with the machine.
As the current proposal stands the limited partners are to receive their initial investment the first two
years of the project whether it is successful or not. In order to look at what that means the numbers
are important. A cash flow analysis is important to determine feasibility of the project. So, three
cash flow statements are prepared; best case scenario, most likely, and worst case scenario. In the
best case scenario, the cash flow distribution would be $247,588 to the general partners and
$577,294 to the limited partners. As you can see the limited partners are paid twice as much as the
partners since in the proposal the limited partners are to receive their initial investment back first.
However, after year one the cash flows are split 50/50 general partners to limited partners, this is
good for all parties involved. In the most

Intimate Partner Violence Essay
Introduction
For most women, pregnancy is a time of joy and happiness for the life she is about to bring into this
world. Unfortunately, this is not the case for women who experience intimate partner violence
during such a precious milestone in their life. Intimate partner violence during pregnancy refers to
violent acts including physical, sexual, or psychological/emotional violence or threats of sexual
violence committed by an intimate male partner such as a husband, boyfriend, or common law
partner that are inflicted on a pregnant woman. Intimate partner violence can affect women during
pregnancy and during the postnatal period with devastating effects on both the women and the
unborn child. Domestic violence against women is more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This being said, the best prevalence estimates are most likely underestimates.
Violence during pregnancy poses a threat to health and the death of the mother and her infant can be
resulted. Pregnancy and the immediate period following birth is a time when partner support and
being in a confiding trusting relationship is supposed to be particularly important for psychological
health (Mezey, Bacchus, Bewley, & White, 2005). Women may feel more physically vulnerable and
emotionally dependent on their partners during the postnatal period and as a result implications of
domestic violence may be more profound, as violence poses the safety of both mother and the baby
(Mezey, Bacchus, Bewley, & White, 2005). Direct and indirect mechanisms of violence may result
adverse pregnancy symptoms or even during the postnatal period, including postpartum depression
(Newberger et al 1992). Women that are victims of Domestic Violence are subject to a higher
relative risk of postnatal depression or some other psychological morbidity during the postpartum
period (Golding 1999; Coid et al 2003). Furthermore, some studies support that the application of
physical or sexual violence on pregnant women is an inclination factor for postpartum depression
(Buist & Janson 2001, Records & Rice 2004). Physical violence during

Mountains Beyond Mountains By Tracy Kidder
Paul Farmer came from a family who had little to offer him beside their outpouring love and sense
of adventure. He had many places to call home, and would never really get comfortable in one spot
because often his family would pick up and move. Farmer was inspired by great leadership, his
father, growing up and would in turn become a great leader on his quest to rid the world of poverty
and illness. Mountains Beyond Mountains written by Tracy Kidder, depicts Farmer's mission to
provide health care internationally and talks about all the difficulties that Farmer and his team had to
overcome.
Farmer started his work in Haiti in 1983 while it was under the dictatorship of Baby Doc. Farmer
was unable to get a position at the Hospital but he found an alternative way to get into Haiti,
Eyecare. Farmer met a woman whose name was Ophelia Dahl. At that point in his life he thought he
was going to marry her. Although they never got married, Ophelia and Farmer would always be in
each other's lives since Ophelia becomes the President of Partners In Health. Ophelia is not a doctor
nor does she have any medical skills, she is a huge health care advocate. In 1984, Farmer started
medical school at Harvard but still spent much of his time in Haiti. Not long before he started
medical school, Farmer met a man named Tom White who, for years after meeting, would
continually pour money into Partners In Health.
Jim Yong Kim joins their team in 1988. Like Farmer, he was a medical student.

Hi Professor and Class, How could collaboration be improved to enhance outcome of Intimate

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). Our lesson states that Action Coalitions (ACs) are the driving force

A Country Of Chaos : Haiti
A Country in Chaos: Haiti
Haiti is the poorest county in the Western Hemisphere, but it once was a very wealthy nation. Haiti
shares the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean with the Dominican Republic. They are blessed
with beautiful mountains and beaches, copper, gold, and oil. At one point, Haiti was more wealthy
than the British colonies that were located in the Caribbean. Haiti is rich with natural resources, so
why is Haiti the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere? They are the poorest nation because
they have a lot of natural disasters, they have a history of an unstable government, and they have a
poor healthcare system. Since Haiti is located between tectonic plates, it is prone to natural
disasters. Natural disasters have forced the country farther into poverty due to the cost of damages.
A good example is the earthquake that hit Haiti in 2010. The earthquake caused billions of dollars'
worth of damages. Haiti was already a very poor country before the disaster, but the earthquake
forced people farther into poverty. The families of Haiti did not have insurance, resulting in many
families left homeless. The first estimate for deaths caused by the earthquake was more than
250,000 and affected approximately 3,500,000 lives (Pallardy, 2016). The first shock measured a
magnitude of 7.0 with two aftershocks that measured magnitudes of 5.9 and 5.5. The following few
days consisted of multiple other aftershocks measuring 5.9. The most affected area was about 15

Intimate Partner Violence in LGBT Youth: Demographic Differences and Associations with Health
Behaviors Importance of the Problem Intimate partner violence (IPV; commonly referred to as
dating violence in adolescence) is a serious public health problem in youth (Center for Disease
Control and Prevention, 2014). Decades of empirical research have clearly demonstrated that having
a history of IPV is associated with substantial physical and emotional costs, including depression,
anxiety, anger, substance use, risky sexual behavior, cognitive impairment, chronic pain, injury,
sexually transmitted disease, and suicidality (Campbell, 2002; Coker et al., 2002; Exner–Cortens,
Eckenrode, & Rothman, 2013; Malik, Sorenson, & Aneshensel, 1997; Silverman, Raj, Mucci, &
Hathaway, 2001; Straight, Harper, & Arias, 2003; Wolitzky–Taylor et al., 2008). Equally alarming is
the high prevalence of IPV, with an estimated 10–20% of youth having experienced physical or
sexual violence (Eaton, Davis, Barrios, Brener, & Noonan, 2007; Foshee et al., 2009; Shorey,
Cornelius, & Bell, 2008) and even higher rates when examining at–risk samples or considering less
severe forms of violence (Orpinas, Nahapetyan, Song, McNicholas, & Reeves, 2012; Wolfe, Scott,
Wekerle, & Pittman, 2001). For example, empirical research has demonstrated that sexual
minorities, particularly youth, are at increased risk for IPV (Dank Lachman, Zweig, & Yahner;

Public Health Organization Partnerships : An Organization
Public Health Organization Partnerships
According to CCHI public/community health partnerships are designed to improve the community
health and to facilitate running of the organization through resource collaboration. This partnership
is important as it results in proper functioning of the organization and staff as they are not
overworked and suffer from illness due to high population of patients in the health centres, it also
helps the organizations to share resources and ideas to prevent high costs that may prevent proper
functioning of the organizations separately.
A partnership is a relationship where by two organizations co–own and share resources, costs and
benefits in order to coexist. There are there main types of partnerships as explained below
General partnerships
A general partnership involves two or more organizations that come together for the purpose of
conducting business, the general partners involved in the business transactions have equal rights and
obligations to the partnership created. The profits of the general partners have some advantages as
they are not taxed to the business.
Limited Partnerships
A limited partnership allows its partners to restrict their liability to the partnership costs only to the
ratio of their investment. The partnership has one general partner who takes full responsibility of the
company's costs, is the one who makes the critical decisions and control the business, in this case
the limited partners do not participate in

Violence / Intimate Partner
Sex crime is one of the most underestimated crimes in America. Intimate Partner and Sexual
Violence are one of the most torturous and abusive crimes that goes unreported due to fear. Intimate
partner abuse is generally part of a pattern of abusive behavior and control rather than an isolated
act of physical aggression. Partner abuse can take a variety of forms, including physical assault such
as different forms of hitting, kicking, and beatings; emotional abuse, threats, financial abuse,
psychological abuse such as belittling, intimidation, and humiliation.
Some abuser would go as far as using their children as pawns in their abuse. Victims are
continuously forced to have sex. Most frequently controlled behaviors are aimed to isolate women

In 1987, while still in medical school, Dr. Paul Farmer along with Dr. Jim Yong Kim, Ophelia Dahl,
Thomas White and Todd McCormack founded Partners in Health (PIH).1 Since its meager
beginnings, PIH has evolved to serve some 2.5 Million people throughout ten different countries.2
However, throughout the organizations grand transformation from a makeshift clinic in Haiti to one
of the leading players in global health relief and development, Partners in Health have remained true
to their mission to provide advance medical treatment for those most in need through strategic
partnerships. 3
Growing up Paul Farmer was surrounded by poverty and a fair amount of everyday difficulty.4
Rather than being limited by his childhood circumstance, Farmer thrived and earned a full
scholarship to Duke University, where he became enthralled with learning more about the country
of Haiti. Following graduation, Farmer went to Haiti to better understand the culture of the country
he had become so interested in. While working at an eye clinic he met future co–founder of Partners
in Health Ophelia Dahl.4
During his search of the country of Haiti, Farmer became convinced that something needed to be
done about the lack of health care being provided to the poor.4 Upon visiting Cange, Farmer
decided that was where he would like to start a clinic for those most in need. In 1984, Farmer started
medical school at Harvard, but rather than spending most of his time at school like normal students

Healthy People 2020
Intimate partner abuse describes physical, sexual, and psychological harm by a current or former
partner or spouse (Fanslow, McMahon, Saltzman, & Shelley, 2002). Healthy people 2020
recognizes physical violence among intimate partners as a topic that should be addressed concerning
injury and violence prevention in the United States (Healthy People 2020, 2014). Intimate Partner
Abuse is an issue that often affects entire families, not just the person that is being abused. Several
historical studies attempt to make a connection between intimate partner abuse and homeless.

While women are often the victims of intimate partner abuse, the CDC survey found that men are
increasingly reporting abuse (Degutis, Frieden, & Spivak, 2010). Approximately 11.2 million men
have reported physical or sexual abuse, rape or stalking by a domestic partner (Degutis, Frieden, &
Spivak, 2010).
Intimate partner abuse is a sensitive social topic as well as an important topic with respect to health
care and community nursing (Svavarsdottir, 2010). Nurses should be well aware of the signs and
symptoms of intimate partner abuse, but its detection can often be difficult. Specific assessment
protocols are often useless in detecting abuse because each situation of intimate partner abuse varies
(Svavarsdottir, 2010). While identifying victims of physical abuse is difficult, it must be done to
implement interventions to assist these victims. Nurses and health care professionals must be
prepared to identify these individuals. In addition to identification of victims of intimate partner
abuse, healthcare professionals must be diligent in education, which could prevent future incidences
of intimate partner abuse.
Assessment
Intimate Partner Abuse continues to be an issue in communities across America. Using assessment
to identify issues is one of the key ways community nurses will help solve this community health
issue (Recognizing Domestic Partner Abuse: With its Daunting Complexities, the Path to

What Is The Positive Effects Of Unemployment?
The subjective well–being of couples in a relationship tend to be similar and most of the time
influence each other's well–being. The effects of unemployment then on the individual can also
affect the person's partner because they are connected to each other and their life circumstances are
intertwined. Furthermore, there is some sort of emotional contagion where the stress felt by one
partner is experienced by the other, and the same can be said towards their responses to depression,
life satisfaction and happiness. (Luhmann, Weiss, Hosoya, & Eid, 2014, pp. 163–164) There is a
drop in life satisfaction between partners from the job loss of a partner. The effects, however, are
more pronounced in a relationship where only one partner was employed compared to that in a
relationship where both partners were employed. This is because there is not much change in the
routine of the partner who is still working because he or she still has to go to work than that of the
partner who stays at home and finds a new routine of having his or her partner at all times.
Unemployment causes anxieties and concerns over employment protection and financial security.
And although both partners feel the effects of unemployment, the one who lost the job feels an even
deeper and stronger impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

(Jolley, Newman, Ziersch & Baum, 2011, p. 427) Even with welfare and health insurance support,
the time that the unemployed family member found to spend with family is a great opportunity to
enrich their relationships thereby producing a functional and efficient family unit in the community.

Intimate Partner Violence And Sexual Abuse
Introduction
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is one of the many public health problems that currently affects
people around the world, across the country and within our own communities. Sexual abuse,
physical abuse as well as the psychological abuse are some examples of violence experienced by
individuals in some relationships, which are the results of the violence perpetrated by either the
current or the former partner. Although intimate partner violence is a very serious problem, it can be
preventable. IPV does not discriminate as it occurs among married couples, those engaged or that
are in any other type of intimate relationship. Both genders can, therefore, be victims or perpetrators
of intimate partner violence. This paper seeks to address the various forms of violence with regards
to intimate partner violence and with particular consideration of same–sex relationship.
Background
Intimate partner violence occurs among partners who are in a relationship. Such partners can either
be married, engaged, and or dating and in either heterosexual or same–sex relationships. Both, male
and females, can either be the victim or the perpetrator of such horrific episodes of violence against
their partner. Women, for instance, are very aggressive and violent in self–defense while men, on the
other hand, are most likely to engage in cycles of abuses and thus the notion that they are more
violent and particularly against women (McLennan & MacMillan, 2016).
Same–sex marriage is still

The authors of this recently published review paper studied the outcomes of six randomized control
trials. These trails used several tools for screening to identify Intimate partner violence. Specifically,
they were interested in examining the rates of intimate partner violence disclosure among adult
women when computer– 18 assisted, self–assisted, and face–to–face interview screening were used
to disclose intimate partner violence. There were no significant differences in the outcomes of the
study when compared to studying the women who were screened face–to–face than those that used
self–administered screenings. The studies did show however, that studies which used a computer–
assisted screening tool had greater odds of disclosure more than the face–to–face interviews. Given
the sensitivities of disclosing intimate partner violence, this data suggests methods by which
screening women may be advantageous. This study relevancy is important due to the data on the
research on the best participants in a study on victims of intimate partner violence.

Structural Violence And Its Effects On Society
Structural violence has become a frequently used instrument in the word of systemic oppression.
This type of oppression and unfair limitations of civil, criminal and basic human rights can cause
suffering and death to many innocent lives. Sociologist Johan Galtung was the one who developed
this theory of structural violence. Indicated in one of his articles "Violence, Peace, and Peace
Research", structural violence is the "systematic constraint on human potential due to economic and
political structures" (Galtung, 1969, p.177). Galtung is telling the readers that certain groups of
people are systematically being limited to resources in society either directly or indirectly. Structural
violence has been described as the "most basic of fundamental form of violence, as it is expressive
of the conditions of society that reproduce mass violations of personhood twenty–four hours a day,
seven days a week" (Barak, 2003, p.113). This demonstrates that structural violence is an on–going
way to steal ones opportunities in society. Racism, sexism, classism and ageism are all examples of
structural violence. It can be visible and invisible and can cause disadvantages for people who are
considered poor or a minority within society. Structural violence is extremely important as it could
lead to poverty, starvation, sicknesses and deaths. Although structural violence is a powerful and
common method of ferocity, there are agents of change who locally and globally contribute to the

However by educating the family and partner on how they can cope with the consumer symptoms they would have a better relationship. Its vital the family and partner understand that BPD is a mental illness that is result from interaction between genetic, biological and environment vulnerabilities rather that a behavior that the consumer has developed as a result of their own action. • 2. My Mother 's Resilience Inspired Me Day By Day Steam filled the dense cubicle apartment as my mother cooked, cleaned, showered and dressed. Despite her exhaustion and swollen ankles from hours spent on white floors of the hospital, she'd stand erect as a building, asking me to recite the words learned that day and review my homework. I knew daren't turn on the TV during the weekday. When managing me and work became too much, she'd take me to work. During the commutes she whispered little words of wisdom, one was to "be still, listen and be vigilant". Soon I had two siblings, and I became the second–mother of the family. Our father was a lost cause, constantly belittling my mother my family and myself for no valid reason; he said to me "You'll never succeed". My mother's resilience inspired me day by day. Susie, my loving aunt and reflection of my mother also stood by our family side and served as a protector against my father. She told me to keep going, to never look back, I am important, my grades matter, and that I was beautiful. My mother and I were with my aunt during her grim diagnosis of ovarian cancer; we sat apprehensively for hours in the waiting room. We were please at the sound of remission, but for long. Her last bittersweet moments were spent with us in her apartment. We braided her hair and cooked her dinner. We wiped the salty mixture of sweat and tears off our faces. When she passed my mother sobbed and told me she had died of a broken heart. Her husband was akin to my father, so her strength ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Melinda Gates And Partners In Health: A Humanitarian Analysis Humanitarianism encompasses a wide range of definitions which all ultimately revolve around a single desire to improve human welfare. Two notable humanitarians are Melinda Gates, a businesswoman and wife of billionaire, Bill Gates, and Paul Farmer, an anthropologist and physician. The respective philanthropic organizations they each co–founded and operate, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Partners in Health, share a common devotion towards improving the quality of life of the people living in the most impoverished parts of the world (Kidder, 2003; Klug, 2010). The methods their organizations use to provide humanitarian aid, and the impacts these organization have, share some similarities, but also differ in many ways. Their contrasting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal of the Gates foundation, as stated earlier, is to save the greatest number of lives possible, and thus, provide healthcare to as many people as they can reach (Klug, 2010). Evaluating people as statistics means that a systematic approach is the most effective method of finding how the money from the foundation can reach and impact the maximum number of lives. Although seemingly effective and reasonable, this notion that people are simply numbers in a book often strikes a nerve in many people. In the preface of Singer's book, numerous statistics of the number of children dying across the world from preventable diseases and issues are thrown into the reader's face (Singer, 2009). Yet despite the magnitude of the numbers, the deindividualization of these children by reducing them to mere numbers has a numbing effect on the reader. Thus, when Melinda Gates states that she needs "to be here, to see it to feel it, and to understand what motivates these people. What is it that they are doing for their livelihood. Unless I see it and feel it and touch it, I just don't feel like I can do the foundation justice in terms what of we are trying to accomplish," it makes one imagine that she might feel such a strong urge to be present at the site of aid in order to grasp an idea of whose lives she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cost to Employees and Employers The cost of healthcare is on the rise and no end to this crisis is in sight. Most people believe all employers should offer health insurance to its employees; however, with the cost of healthcare so high companies who offer these benefits are trying to find ways to offset costs. If all employers did offer health, dental, and life insurance, who would cover the cost? A survey administered by the Commonwealth Fund titled The Public's Views on Healthcare Reform in the 2008 Presidential Election asked that question to 3,500 randomly selected adults. 70% of people surveyed thought the cost should be shared equally between the employer, employees, and the government. 80% of the people surveyed also thought that if an employer did not offer health insurance they should contribute to the cost of coverage (Lubell, 2008). Tax Equity The Tax Equity for Domestic Partner and Health Plan Beneficiaries Act of 2007 was introduced March 29, 2007. The act states employers offering healthcare insurance have to provide healthcare coverage to domestic partners, same–sex or opposite sex. This law has been added to stop federal tax inequalities same–sex couples currently face when receiving healthcare benefits offered by their employers (Postal, 2007). The new law significantly affected employers in the Northeast and Western states because 42% of larger companies in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Partners In Health Mission John Locke Summary In the short piece, Partners in Health Mission, it explains the goal of this company which is to overall help the people suffering with poverty by giving these people healthcare. This statement uses the ideas of equality and preservation of life by trying to give people embellished with poverty the ability to be health like the rest of the world. This company's goals and values mainly line up with the ideals and philosophies of enlightenment philosopher John Locke. This is due to the idea of preserving life because it is a humans natural right to live and is sense of equality in which everyone receives equal healthcare treatment. Ultimately, this piece uses the ideals and philosophies of John Locke in the modern day to try to preserve life and create a sense of equality among people. However, from the executive's point of view, these two adjectives mean something completely different. In the healthcare field, there are two market strategies: red ocean strategy and blue ocean strategy. Value Innovation is accomplished by creating exceptional value for the customer while, simultaneously, creating high profits for the company (Pritchett, 2014). At its core, the true goal of The Affordable Care Act is value innovation; lowering the cost of healthcare and improving patient outcomes. It is through compliance with these measures that health care providers will realize high profits. The ACA creates significant barriers for small practices and those who are not willing to comply with meaningful use measures. Although the healthcare industry is considerably a red ocean, a blue ocean is attainable. Overcoming the red ocean of healthcare requires one to become more than just a health care provider. Through the efforts of physician collaboration, electronic health record system interconnectivity, and establishment of health protocols that witness proven high outcomes, Ochsner Physician Partners has successfully achieved the blue ocean strategy for the healthcare industry. Haitian Health Care : A Follow Up According to the article Haitian Health Care: A Follow–up (2011) it noted that, in January 2010, 46% of Haitians did not have access to health care, because they could not afford it or because there was no health center near them" (Haitian Health Care: A Follow–up 2011, np.) I personally believe that regardless of ones' economic or social status; people should have access to sufficient healthcare. When a person can go to the hospital or any other facility where they can receive medical treatment, the only humane thing to do is to help that person. Dr. Paul Farmer, also believes that healthcare should be accessible to people from all walks of life; especially in those areas where medical care and treatment is scarce. Dr. Farmer's Partners ... Dr. Farmer noted in the Mountains beyond Mountains book (2003) written by Tracey Kidder, that Haiti has increased rates of infant mortality, tuberculosis, malnutrition, HIV and AIDS. In an article published by Sophie Arie; titled What's next for Haiti's healthcare? (2011) notes that, "Haiti has the highest rates of infant, under–five and maternal mortality in the Western hemisphere. Diarrhea, respiratory infections, malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS are the leading causes of death" (Arie 2011, 340). As with every decision that a person makes; the pros and cons must be thoroughly examined; especially when charitable contributions of money are involved. Two pros to inspect, as it relates to making a donation to Dr. Farmer's charitable enterprises, would be the fact that your charitable donations has the potential to stop the spread of infectious diseases to the states or other countries; especially after natural disasters wreak havoc on the already struggling countries. When people hear about the turmoil going on in other countries; it pulls at our heartstrings, and without always thinking rationally, we send over monetary donations to charitable organizations by the truckloads. In some cases red flags go up; often when it's too late. One con, which could resort from donating to Dr. Farmer's charity enterprises would be if the funds are being properly used to help with achieving the mission of the organization. In 2003, Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommend to integrate HIV preventive measure into routine HIV care. HIV–positive people have not been included in prevention strategies and messages. (Bayer 1996) However research has shown that after most PLWHA learn their HIV status they reduce their unprotected sex, though some still engage in unsafe sex.(Janssen, Holtgrave, Valdiserri et al. 2001; Marks, Richardson, Crepaz et al. 2002) In 2003, the Centers for Disease Control recommended the 'Prevention with Positives' strategy to promote sexual health among PLWHA attending HIV/AIDS clinic and to help reduce onward HIV transmission.(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 2003) Positive prevention was recommended by UNAIDS (the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS); it has been implemented in industrialized countries, and should be a priority in high–prevalence regions. (Bunnell R, J. and K 2006) Advance in medical treatment, especially antiretroviral treatment have improved quality of life and prolongs survival. For Partners in Health, I would focus on donations and getting the organization more widely popular. This organization already has well–known sponsors such as the American Cancer Society and the Ronald McDonald House so I would reach out to more businesses and encourage them to donate. There are a variety of development strategies but there is only about one or two that would be useful for Partners in Health. What little is known about caregiving responsibilities and caregiver burden after a cardiac illness or event has previously been focused on the spousal experiences following an acute myocardial infarction or coronary artery bypass graft surgery (Dougherty & Thompson, 2009). The researchers in this article chose to study the physical and mental health effects of the intimate partners of persons after sudden cardiac ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since little is known about the stated subject, this study was performed to better understand the experience and impact of ICD implantation after cardiac arrest on a patient's intimate partner. I believe that this study falls into the basic research category. According to Knapp (1998), "research that is designed primarily to extend the knowledge base in a discipline by contributing to theory generation or theory testing is called basic research" (p. 6). The study's purpose is to extend knowledge and to better understand human experiences regarding the physical, psychological, emotional, and psychosocial impact of cardiac arrest and ICD implantation on a patient's intimate partner. At the end of the study, researchers did declare that further research is needed on the topic and that intimate partners may benefit from an intervention that would assist them with the following: their psychological adjustment, learning how to manage the impact of ICD's on their relationship, and learning how to effectively deal with the caregiver strain that is associated with caring for loved ones after a cardiac event. Research Questions, Hypotheses, and Design The study that was reviewed did not explicitly state any research questions or hypotheses; rather, a study purpose was noted. In the research study completed by Dougherty and Thompson (2009), the purpose was "to describe the intimate partner's physical functioning (general ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Project aims and significance Intimate partner violence (IPV) has been recognised as an issue which needs to be addressed due to its negative consequences on health of individuals. The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) as any act between intimate relations which results into physical, emotional, sexual trauma or any other form of restriction or isolation from family and friends which can lead to undesirable health outcomes (Organization, 2012). Violence do exists between intimate partners with women becoming more victims than men (Hall, Chappell, Parnell, Seed, & Bewley, 2014). In Victoria, it had accounted for 7.9% of overall disease burden among women of reproductive age (Vos et al., 2006). Ecological–epidemiological This is the approach in medical anthropology that analysis how the ecology or the natural environment cause or are related to specific health issues or diseases for that matter. The members of Partners Health also argued that some of the cultural meanings such as childbirth could highly determine the health issues experienced in a certain ethnical group. This means that the occurrence of certain diseases is linked with the meanings that the specific cultural group associates with it. • 16. Mountains Beyond Mountains Summary "Dokte Paul." the first part of the book titled Mountains Beyond Mountains, begins when author and journalist Tracy Kidder first met Dr. Farmer in Haiti. Kidder describes Dr. Farmer as a "big–shot" Boston doctor who has chosen to do humanitarian–type work in Haiti even though he could have an easy career as a lecturer back in Boston. Kidder realizes that Dr. Farmer is the atypical doctor who would rather get to know his patients as people and cares about their health holistically instead of just treating the symptoms and moving on. The next year, Dr. Farmer invites Kidder back to Haiti with him, and Kidder begins to observe Dr. Farmer at work. Kidder notices that Dr. Farmer's patients and co–workers call him "Dokte Paul;" the word "dokte" is Haitian Creole for "doctor." Kidder also observes the unsanitary conditions of life in the Cange region of Haiti. There, Dr. Farmer established the charity called Zamni Lasante, which is Haitian Creole for "friend health." This charity not only provides low–cost or free medical care, it also builds houses and schools. Dr. Farmer often uses his own money to help keep the charity going, and lives very modestly despite being a successful physician. Dr. Farmer begins educating journalist Kidder about the Haitian people, the health issues they face, and some of their superstitions. He also explains the Haitian proverb, 'mountains beyond mountains," which means that for every metaphorical mountain a person climbs, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women may feel more physically vulnerable and emotionally dependent on their partners during the postnatal period and as a result implications of domestic violence may be more profound, as violence poses the safety of both mother and the baby (Mezey, Bacchus, Bewley, & White, 2005). Direct and indirect mechanisms of violence may result adverse pregnancy symptoms or even during the postnatal period, including postpartum depression (Newberger et al 1992). Women that are victims of Domestic Violence are subject to a higher relative risk of postnatal depression or some other psychological morbidity during the postpartum period (Golding 1999; Coid et al 2003). At one point, Haiti was more wealthy than the British colonies that were located in the Caribbean. Haiti is rich with natural resources, so why is Haiti the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere? They are the poorest nation because they have a lot of natural disasters, they have a history of an unstable government, and they have a poor healthcare system. Intimate Partner Violence in LGBT Youth: Demographic Differences and Associations with Health Behaviors Importance of the Problem Intimate partner violence (IPV; commonly referred to as dating violence in adolescence) is a serious public health problem in youth (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014). Decades of empirical research have clearly demonstrated that having a history of IPV is associated with substantial physical and emotional costs, including depression, anxiety, anger, substance use, risky sexual behavior, cognitive impairment, chronic pain, injury, sexually transmitted disease, and suicidality (Campbell, 2002; Coker et al., 2002; Exner–Cortens, Eckenrode, & Rothman, 2013; Malik, Sorenson, & Aneshensel, 1997; Silverman, Raj, Mucci, & Hathaway, 2001; Straight, Harper, & Arias, 2003; Wolitzky–Taylor et al., 2008). Equally alarming is the high prevalence of IPV, with an estimated 10–20% of youth having experienced physical or sexual violence (Eaton, Davis, Barrios, Brener, & Noonan, 2007; Foshee et al., 2009; Shorey, Cornelius, & Bell, 2008) and even higher rates when examining at–risk samples or considering less severe forms of violence (Orpinas, Nahapetyan, Song, McNicholas, & Reeves, 2012; Wolfe, Scott, Wekerle, & Pittman, 2001). • 36. What Is The Positive Effects Of Unemployment? The subjective well–being of couples in a relationship tend to be similar and most of the time influence each other's well–being. The effects of unemployment then on the individual can also affect the person's partner because they are connected to each other and their life circumstances are intertwined. Furthermore, there is some sort of emotional contagion where the stress felt by one partner is experienced by the other, and the same can be said towards their responses to depression, life satisfaction and happiness. (Luhmann, Weiss, Hosoya, & Eid, 2014, pp. 163–164) There is a drop in life satisfaction between partners from the job loss of a partner. The effects, however, are more pronounced in a relationship where only one partner was employed compared to that in a relationship where both partners were employed. This is because there is not much change in the routine of the partner who is still working because he or she still has to go to work than that of the partner who stays at home and finds a new routine of having his or her partner at all times. Unemployment causes anxieties and concerns over employment protection and financial security. And although both partners feel the effects of unemployment, the one who lost the job feels an even deeper and stronger impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 37. Intimate Partner Violence And Sexual Abuse Introduction Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is one of the many public health problems that currently affects people around the world, across the country and within our own communities. Sexual abuse, physical abuse as well as the psychological abuse are some examples of violence experienced by individuals in some relationships, which are the results of the violence perpetrated by either the current or the former partner. Although intimate partner violence is a very serious problem, it can be preventable. IPV does not discriminate as it occurs among married couples, those engaged or that are in any other type of intimate relationship. Both genders can, therefore, be victims or perpetrators of intimate partner violence. This paper seeks to address the various forms of violence with regards to intimate partner violence and with particular consideration of same–sex relationship. Background Intimate partner violence occurs among partners who are in a relationship. Such partners can either be married, engaged, and or dating and in either heterosexual or same–sex relationships. Both, male and females, can either be the victim or the perpetrator of such horrific episodes of violence against their partner. Women, for instance, are very aggressive and violent in self–defense while men, on the other hand, are most likely to engage in cycles of abuses and thus the notion that they are more violent and particularly against women (McLennan & MacMillan, 2016). Same–sex marriage is still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hussain, N., Sprague, S., Madden, K., Hussain, F. N., Pindiprolu, B., & Bhandari, M. (2015). A comparison of the types of screening tool administration methods used for the detection of intimate partner violence: a systematic review and meta–analysis. Trauma Violence Abuse, 16(1), 60–69. doi: 10.1177/1524838013515759 The authors of this recently published review paper studied the outcomes of six randomized control trials. These trails used several tools for screening to identify Intimate partner violence. Specifically, they were interested in examining the rates of intimate partner violence disclosure among adult women when computer– 18 assisted, self–assisted, and face–to–face interview screening were used to disclose intimate partner violence. There were no significant differences in the outcomes of the study when compared to studying the women who were screened face–to–face than those that used self–administered screenings. The studies did show however, that studies which used a computer– assisted screening tool had greater odds of disclosure more than the face–to–face interviews. Given the sensitivities of disclosing intimate partner violence, this data suggests methods by which screening women may be advantageous. This study relevancy is important due to the data on the research on the best participants in a study on victims of intimate partner violence. Lacey, Krim K ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Structural Violence And Its Effects On Society Structural violence has become a frequently used instrument in the word of systemic oppression. This type of oppression and unfair limitations of civil, criminal and basic human rights can cause suffering and death to many innocent lives. Sociologist Johan Galtung was the one who developed this theory of structural violence. Indicated in one of his articles "Violence, Peace, and Peace Research", structural violence is the "systematic constraint on human potential due to economic and political structures" (Galtung, 1969, p.177). Galtung is telling the readers that certain groups of people are systematically being limited to resources in society either directly or indirectly. Structural violence has been described as the "most basic of fundamental form of violence, as it is expressive of the conditions of society that reproduce mass violations of personhood twenty–four hours a day, seven days a week" (Barak, 2003, p.113). This demonstrates that structural violence is an on–going way to steal ones opportunities in society. Racism, sexism, classism and ageism are all examples of structural violence. It can be visible and invisible and can cause disadvantages for people who are considered poor or a minority within society. Structural violence is extremely important as it could lead to poverty, starvation, sicknesses and deaths. Although structural violence is a powerful and common method of ferocity, there are agents of change who locally and globally contribute to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
