Summary Of Malcolm X Coming To An Awareness Of Language

Coming to an Awareness of Language
By Malcolm X
On February 21, 1965, Malcolm X, the Black Muslim leader, was shot to death as he addressed an
afternoon rally in Harlem. He was thirty–nine years old. In the course of his brief life he had risen
from the world of thieving, pimping, and drug pushing to become one of the most articulate and
powerful blacks in America during the early 1960s.
Education is the most efficient door that opens the way into success. It is one of the main weapon of
an individual to acquire his full potential as a human being. Without it, you won't be able to attain
things that you want to attain. You won't be able to reach the peak of your aspiration. You won't be
considered as a person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malcolm X's essay entitled "Coming to an Awareness of Language," describes his disappointment
over his insufficiency to communicate with his co–workers because of racism. Malcolm X's story
began in Harlem, which he state as "a hustling world," wherein his friends with colorful nicknames
like "Sammy the Pimp," and "Jumpsteady". That place involves sharp–looking hustlers, dope
peddlers, and slick. All these citizens usually are in prison. In fact, while he was in prison, Malcolm
X sent letters to his former colleagues, addressed to the bars and clubs where he used to see them.
Unfortunately, he never got a single reply. Then he expressed his complaints about racism to public
officials, including a mayor, a governor and the President of the United States. But they didn't

The Handmaid's Day-Personal Narrative
It was dark, and that worried Anton. He tried not to come outside during this time of night, (because
that was when they came out) but this was the only time his contact would agree to meet with him.
Looking across the horizon, Anton could see the sun going down. "Huh," he says. "I can't remember
the last time I actually saw a sunset." He kept walking, and eventually reached the outskirts of the
city. I can't remember what this place was called, he thought as he walked. A worn–down building
answered his question; tattered letters on the side of the wall displayed the words NYPD.
At last, he found his contact. A skinny, slight man, Lester was as strange as anyone Anton had ever
met. He spoke with a strange accent, and seemed unsure on his feet.

Aardwolves Compare And Contrast
Amazingly, aardvarks and aardwolves can eat 300,000 termites in one night! That's probably more
than all the termites you have seen in your life. Aardvarks and aardwolves have similar diets and
habitats, but they live very different lives. Both aardvarks and aardwolves have features that help
them survive and get their food. These mammals are about three feet long. Aardwolves can grow to
be 30 pounds; however aardvarks can grow to be 140 pounds. Aardwolves have yellowish white fur
with black stripes, while aardvarks have grayish brown short coarse hair. They both have long sticky
tongues, but aardvarks also have long ears and powerful claws and feet. Aardvarks and aardwolves
both have similar diets but get their food differently. They

What Is The Theme Of It's An Aardvark Eat Turtle World
Introduction
This book is named "It's an Aardvark–Eat–Turtle World" written by Paula Danziger. It was
published in 2007. The book are about two friends who were going to be sisters. As you can tell,
their parents were divorced. In addition bought of theirs parents had found someone new. The first

The characters and the main body
The book is witted in first person and the main character named Rose. She has a friend named
Phoebe. Phoebe father is named Jim and Rose mother named Mindy. It is many craters in this book,
but his was the most important persons of them all. Like I said in the beginning. Rose and Phoebe
parent had found some new partners. Fore a child it is hard to except that theirs parents want to split
up. Rose were more of the person who went forward. She really wanted a real family living under
the same roof. Phoebe were more of the person who held on to here angry feelings. If something
were wrong, nothing would stand in the way for her to express her feelings. Mindy usually let
peoples around her know if it were something she were not pleased with. In addition, Jim usually

In addition, how difficult it can be to except cages. I think it's also about friendship and love. I came
to this conclusion because it was allot of family, friendship and love drama. The book's title
Aardvark–Eat–Turtle World must have something to do with the theme. This is an expression from
"dog eating a dog world". The expression is from Rose's father. He always based his life around tis
saying. "Dog eating a dog world" are designated for how some human act in the world. Everyone
must do anything in his or her power to survive in the world. Usually the biggest and strongest win.
It were many arguments in the story and the most experienced had usually

The Pros And Cons Of Cartoons
If a 'worldwide phenomenon' is defined as an occurrence that is reaching throughout the world, then
it would be reasonably logical to conclude that the consumption of animated cartoon shows are
indeed, a worldwide phenomenon. Since 1960s, cartoons have provided numerous generations of
children with a type of entertainment that filled their little minds with fantasy and imagination.
Cartoons may have started out as an entertainment for children. However, the world today sees
different genres of cartoons produced to target a different group of audience, and cartoons today are
not anymore exclusive to children. The Children: As a matter of fact, we all loved cartoons as a
child. Cartoons were fun and precious to children just like how exciting ... Show more content on

However, since this group of audiences is at the stage of learning more complex knowledge that
may be tedious to infuse into entertainment–based animated shows, the scriptwriters would rather
leave the academic teachings to the schools. Instead, cartoons of this genre are evidently focused on
delivering moral values and encouraging friendships and family–cohesiveness. Plots for these
cartoon shows might feature the characters going through some distressing troubles or difficulties;
however, things always turn out right in the end. 'SpongeBob Squarepants', a long–run cartoon
series from the 90s featuring SpongeBob the yellow sponge and his starfish best friend Patrick, has
been undoubtedly successful in imparting valuable lessons on friendship and altruism in the minds
of teenagers. For example, SpongeBob has always been portrayed as being very giving and selfless
to Patrick who might sometimes seems brainless and naive; Patrick, on the other hand, though
usually emotionless, becomes very sad when SpongeBob befalls some unfortunate fate, and always
attempts to help him at his best efforts. Cartoons for the young adults may also adopt a more lenient
language style, permitting the use of trending slangs and everyday phrases such as 'what's up' or
'aww–man' which are otherwise fended off by the scriptwriters of a children's

Reliability Of Wikipedia Essay
The reliability of Wikipedia (predominantly of the English–language edition) has been frequently
questioned and often assessed. The reliability has been tested statistically, through comparative
review, analysis of the historical patterns, and strengths and weaknesses inherent in the editing
process unique to Wikipedia.[1] Incidents of conflicted editing, and the use of Wikipedia for
'revenge editing' (inserting false, defamatory or biased statements into biographies) have attracted
publicity.[2][3] A study in the journal Nature said that in 2005, Wikipedia's scientific articles came
close to the level of accuracy in Encyclopædia Britannica and had a similar rate of "serious errors".
[4] Encyclopædia Britannica disputed the Nature study,[5] and Nature replied with a formal
response and point–by–point rebuttal of Britannica's main objections.[6] Between 2008 and 2012,
Wikipedia articles on medical and scientific fields such as pathology,[7] toxicology,[8] oncology,[9]
pharmaceuticals,[10][11] and psychiatry[12] were compared to professional and peer reviewed
sources and it was found that Wikipedia's depth and coverage were of a high standard. Concerns
regarding readability were raised in a study published by the American Society of Clinical
Oncology[13] and a study published in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In May 2005, an editor sparked controversy by creating an article about John Seigenthaler that
included false and defamatory statements.[19] The inaccurate information remained uncorrected for
four months. A biographical article on French Wikipedia portrayed a "Léon–Robert de L'Astran" as
an 18th–century anti–slavery ship owner, which led Ségolène Royal, a presidential candidate, to
praise him. A student investigation determined that the article was a hoax and de L'Astran had never
existed.[20] Journalists from a spectrum of publications have similarly been embarrassed by
repeating mistaken or fake

Captain Aarfy Symbolism In Catch 22
In Joseph Heller's Catch–22, many characters are traumatized because they are all involved in an
ongoing war, some of the characters go on to do horrible things, and many men simply go insane.
However, there is one character that is the worst of them all Heller's character Captain
"Aarfy"Aardvark: suffering from traumatic experiences and the loss of a woman's touch, Aarfy goes
on to do the worst thing imaginable, he rapes a woman and then kills her because it is "his most
condescending manner"(Heller 427). Heller ultimately shows how a traumatic situation can lead a
terrible person to do dreadful actions.
First, Heller states that Aarfy is a stout navigator in Captain Yossarian's B–25. Aarfy is said to have a
terrible sense of direction and is always getting lost during his missions. Aarfy is also known to be
oblivious to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, Heller writes "[he] watched the blood drain from Aarfy's face"(Heller 428), informing that
Aarfy had to make another physical contact with the body of the Italian girl any point in time during
or after he rapes her, and that massive amounts of blood came out of the girl's body and somehow
traveled onto Aarfy's face. Then, Heller mentions that the police are coming to apprehend Aarfy for
his actions. Heller shows how fast and loud the police sirens are approaching their location by
writing "[an] onrushing cacophony of overwhelming sound that seemed to crash into the room
around [...] from every side." (Heller 428) This creates an intense feeling because police sirens are
heard from a mile way and to imagine police cars approaching a murderer give an extreme sense of
anticipation. Heller uses hyperbolism to show what aarfy is capable of doing to a human body,
although Heller does not mention what his character does to make the Italian girl bleed, I know
Heller purposely included those details to show how Aarfy's mental

Literary Devices: Malcolm X Essay
Well Read
Most of us learn to read through various outlets such as television, books, movies, etc. Becoming
literate is essential to functioning in society. Looking back at one of the most influential figures of
the 1960's, it is hard to imagine that at age 21 Malcolm X tried to start a letter with "Look, daddy, let
me pull your coat about a cat..." (X 256). He spent 7 years in prison for robbery, and during that
time he underwent a self–metamorphosis. His way of putting it is "books opened up a whole new
world to me" (260). History, philosophy, genetics and a whole dictionary all contributed to his
learning process. But, as he learned more, he found the terrors of slavery and the other atrocities that
the white man had brought upon the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malcolm states that he transcribed the entire dictionary, and this helped him realize that there were
many words that he did not know. From there on the reader sees his dedication to literature "I
printed out everything on that first page of the dictionary, down to the punctuation" (258). Instead of
saying he was dedicated to books, he keeps introducing these photos of how dedicated he was to
reading. Further into the book the imagery continues as he reminisces, "You couldn't have got me
out of books with a wedge... [and] months passed without me even thinking about being
imprisoned" (259). These two quotes are semi–abstract, in a sense, but the reader's brain still tries to
make the connection. Such as, if I was imprisoned, how hard would it be not to think of my
incarceration? Or, could they really not pry him out of a book with a wedge? It's silly, but the brain
works that way. Lastly, we see imagery by X stating that he was able to read about history from
outside the white narrative. He articulates it in a way that brings shame to any human who has a
heart, "black slave women tied up and flogged with whips; of black mothers watching their babies
being dragged off, never to be seen by their mothers again; of dogs after slaves, and of the fugitive
slave catchers, evil white men

Persuasive Essay On Plastic Straws
Americans use over 500 million plastic straws every single day–that's enough to circle the earth's
circumference 2.5 times (Ives et al 2017). By 2050, there will be more plastic debris in the ocean
than fish (Kaplan 2016). These staggering statistics are unacceptable and it is our duty to find a
realistic, sustainable solution to the issue. Plastic pollution is one of today's most pressing problems,
and minimizing the use of straws is a feasible and realistic step in the right direction. Although the
problem of pollution is widely understood, the extent of the damage by plastic straws is not as
known or acknowledged. Education of children and adults is an integral component of shifting
cultural norms and mindsets. With a more informed population, people will be more likely to refuse
and forgo plastic utensils. Furthermore, businesses and influential icons play a vital role in this
opportunity. Some restaurants give out both a cup and straw as a mere convenience and a no–straw
policy implementation in such businesses can make a big difference. By initially targeting coastal
areas of the United States to adopt eco–friendly methods, eventually this transition could inspire a
nation–wide law to ban plastic straws to globally shift society–environment interactions to
sustainability. While eliminating plastic straws entirely is ideal, it is difficult to make an abrupt shift;
an attainable solution is to gradually switch to bio–degradable and eco–friendly straws like glass,
metal,

The Importance Of Plagiarism In College Students
In short: Don't do it. But in truth, that is not good enough.
I have assigned and graded or had graded by TA's tens of thousands of bits of writing by college
students over the years. A lot of my friends are teachers. My wife is a teacher. I've seen it all. If you
are a student trying to avoid getting caught plagiarizing, I can help you.
You need to know the following three things. These facts will save you from getting tossed out of
college or having a mark on your high school record.
1) Teachers hate plagiarism more than they hate stepping on puppies and kittens. If there are two
students in a class, and one has plagiarized an assignment and one has crushed some puppies and
kittens, and the teacher only has time to turn one of them it to the administration, they'll turn in the
plagiarizer.
2) There has almost never been a case where a student was proved to have plagiarized something
(by matching the original to the student's paper) where the plagiarism wasn't already blindingly
obvious to the teacher to begin with. In other words, when you plagiarize something, it is always
spotted immediately. If some other student tells you that they got away with it, they are lying to you
(like House says, people always lie) or the teacher chose to not turn them in. Yet.
Given this, you should understand that plagiarism is never a good strategy for improving your grade.
Just don't do it.

Stephen King Learning To Write Analysis
Comparing Different Approaches on How to Become a Better Writer
The importance of reading is well described by two highly educated and skilled authors. "Reading to
Write" by Stephen King and "Learning to Read" by Malcom X. King's piece looks to encourage
hopeful writers by expounding upon the importance of incessantly reading in order to become a
better writer. X's account goes into how he was able to teach himself to read which opened up
unlimited knowledge to him. He hopes to encourage others to read to defeat ignorance and prevent
being controlled by misinformation and hidden truths. Both authors do their job in relating their
passion for reading and absolutely inspire the reader to pick up a book. King does this far better by
being much more relatable by sharing personal experiences whereas X's description digresses into
his own personal motives far too often to be as effective. King's style is informal, familiar and yet
direct as a means of impressing his wisdom upon the reader. From the start he tells you exactly what
you have to do, "If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

relatable to anyone who has in fact found something they are passionate about. X describes reading
the entire dictionary and copying it down for the sake of learning all the words he can so he can
become a better writer. X goes on to recount a memorable part of that process, "Funny thing, from

Health Information Management in the Veterinary Setting
When working in the veterinary health information management field, what becomes apparent is
that; just the same for humans, animals also do not like change without their consent. This research
term paper will focus on the health information management and documentation requirements that
are present in the veterinary delivery setting. Additional information will be provided that will help
towards defining the role and function of the health information management professional in the
veterinary delivery setting. Following key points will be directly explained, such as; regulations that
relate to the veterinary facility and the health information management professional, establishing
and maintaining the veterinary medical documentation, as well as, coding and information systems
that are used by the health information management professional in the veterinary delivery setting.
Before delving straight in to the aforementioned key points, it is important to lay out the ground
foundation as to what type of environment a health information management professional will find
himself or herself in when working in a veterinary delivery setting.

Common Mistakes in Writing
Common Mistakes in Writing: Comma Splice
In your writing, there are 3 major problems that we commonly have to address as
teachers/instructors/professors/etc. I want you to take the time to read about these. While we don 't
expect this to fix your issues instantly, we are hoping that you 'll aim to make less of these mistakes
in the future (especially on your papers, where these errors WILL be counted off for).
Comma Splice –– Commas are tricky because there are so many different ways you can use them,
but one of the most common ways to use commas is to separate two main clauses that are connected
by a coordinating conjunction. That just means that when you join two things that could be
sentences on their own with a word such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You 'll notice that with run–on sentences and comma splices, the two are very similar issues and
solved in the same manner. It 's a good rule of thumb to remember them together. If you need any
help, contact Dr. Wilson or myself.
Common Mistakes in Writing: Sentence Fragments
The last major error that we encounter in writing is the sentence fragment. These are a bit trickier to
solve than the other two issues, but you should have no problem as long as you take your time with
them.
Sentence Fragment––A part of a sentence that is punctuated as a complete sentence. It may lack a
subject, a predicate, or both, or it may be a dependent clause. It can be fixed in one of three ways:
He quit his job. And cleared out his desk. (the second sentence is wrong)
This deals with a missing subject or predicate. These are usually the result of faulty punctuation of a
compound predicate. Either add the subject, or change the punctuation to incorporate the fragment
into the preceding sentence:
He quite his job. And he cleared out his desk.
Or:
He quit his job and cleared out his desk.
A missing or incomplete predicate is often the result of using a verbal instead of a finite verb.
Usually, the best remedy is addition of a helping verb:
Sheila waiting to see you.
Becomes:
Sheila is waiting to see you.
Although a dependent clause has a subject and a predicate, it cannot stand alone as a sentence
because it begins with a relative

Georg Cantor
Georg Cantor I. Georg Cantor Georg Cantor founded set theory and introduced the concept of
infinite numbers with his discovery of cardinal numbers. He also advanced the study of
trigonometric series and was the first to prove the nondenumerability of the real numbers. Georg
Ferdinand Ludwig Philipp Cantor was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, on March 3, 1845. His family
stayed in Russia for eleven years until the father's sickly health forced them to move to the more
acceptable environment of Frankfurt, Germany, the place where Georg would spend the rest of his
life. Georg excelled in mathematics. His father saw this gift and tried to push his son into the more

There simply is no biggest number. Is infinity a number? Is there anything bigger than infinity? How
about infinity plus one? What's infinity plus infinity? What about infinity times infinity? Children to
whom the concept of infinity is brand new, pose questions like this and don't usually get very
satisfactory answers. For adults, these questions don't seem to have very much bearing on daily life,
so their unsatisfactory answers don't seem to be a matter of concern. At the turn of the century
Cantor applied the tools of mathematical rigor and logical deduction to questions about infinity in
search of satisfactory answers. His conclusions are paradoxical to our everyday experience, yet they
are mathematically sound. The world of our everyday experience is finite. We can't exactly say
where the boundary line is, but beyond the finite, in the realm of the transfinite, things are different.
Sets and Set Theory Cantor is the founder of the branch of mathematics called Set Theory, which is
at the foundation of much of 20th century mathematics. At the heart of Set Theory is a hall of
mirrors––the paradoxical infinity. Georg Cantor was known to have said, "I see it, but I do not
believe it," about one of his proofs. The set is the mathematical object which Cantor scrutinized. He
defined a set as any collection of well–distinguished and well–defined objects

Essay about Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience
Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience
ABSTRACT: Many philosophers have lost their enthusiasm for the concept of supervenience in the
philosophy of mind. This is largely due to the fact that, as Jaegwon Kim has shown, familiar
versions of supervenience describe relations of mere property covariation without capturing the idea
of dependence. Since the dependence of the mental on the physical is a necessary requirement for
even the weakest version of physicalism, it would seem that existing forms of supervenience cannot
achieve that for which they were designed. My aim is to revive the concept of supervenience. I
argue that if we construe supervenience along Davidsonian lines – as a relation connecting
predicates rather than properties – ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In light of this, many have lost their enthusiasm for this idea.
My goal in this paper is to renew our faith in supervenience. To do so, however, will not require the
development of a new formulation of the concept; instead, it involves clearing up some
misconceptions about an existing version of this relation. I refer to Davidson's original treatment of
supervenience. Most have assumed that Davidson's brand of supervenience is equivalent to Kim's
"weak supervenience," which is too weak to express dependence. I will argue that Davidson's
conception of supervenience is, despite certain formal similarities, quite different from Kim's and
clearly captures a sense of psychophysical dependence that is of use to forms of physicalism.
As I see it, the difference between Kim's approach and Davidson's lies in the items supervenience is
thought to connect. Kim's formulations of supervenience connect properties, which he takes to be
the ontological building blocks of events. In general then, Kim treats supervenience as a
metaphysical thesis about the distribution of properties in possible worlds. By contrast, Davidson
has little tolerance for the idea that events should be analyzed in terms of property exemplifications.
Given Davidson's reluctance to endorse properties, he prefers to think of supervenience as a relation
between

Five Quotations
"Only a fraction of his countrymen would give their lives to win [the war], to die or not to die, that
was the question" (Heller 84).
"He was told that he should not kill, and he did not kill, until he got into the Army. Then he was told

Though soldiers like, Lieutenant Scheisskopf obsess over the awards, in the they mean nothing,
much like war, in which there are many causalities on both sides.
The hospital represents safety and refuge, as most of the soldiers prefer it to fighting in the war. In
fact, many soldiers (including Yossarian), make up injuries and diseases on the spot to be admitted
to avoid more combat missions.
The increasing number of mission represents unfairness and unjust society of the time. This along
with the idea that to leave the military one must be considered insane and asking to leave in itself
nullifies insanity, effectively barring anyone from leaving. This illogic nature matches the way
Heller perceives war in and of itself.
The bandaged man in the hospital epitomizes the cruel and undignified treatment of soldiers in the
military. First of all the character is unrecognizable due to his condition and is not identified with a
name, showing the military's lack empathy towards their soldiers, seeming them as units rather than
individuals. Secondly, nurses and other medical officials treat him poorly, dumping his own waste
back into his body.

Computer Engineer Who Helped Help Create One Of The Biggest
Larry Page, born March 26, 1973, is a computer engineer who helped to create one of the biggest,
well–known companies in the world. In 1998, he cofound Google Inc. with his grad school friend
named Sergey Brin. With a net worth of almost 33.3 billion dollars, Google Inc. has grown to be one
of the most well–recognized companies in the world. It is used by thousands of people daily, being
used to find information on the internet, and offering services such as email and maps. It began as a
small online search firm, which has gradually expanded to what it is now (becoming much more
than just a simple search engine). He has also invented a search ranking algorithm called
"PageRank" (Google's most well–known search algorithm) and has overseen the acquisitions of
companies such as Nest and Dropcam. A lot of the success he has earned up to this point was due to
his childhood, being revolved around the use of technology. Born in Lansing, Michigan, Larry Page
was the son of Carl Page and Gloria, both who were computer science professors (his original name
was Lawrence Page). His father Carl was involved in computer science and artificial intelligence
(having a Ph.D. in computer science), while his mother Gloria taught computer programing, and
they both attended Michigan State University. He became very interested in technology and the area
of business at an early age (most likely due to the amount of computers, pieces of technology, and
science magazines all around him) and spent

Marc Brown Research Paper
Marc Tolon Brown was born three days after Thanksgiving on November 25, 1945. Marc Brown
was first exposed to the art of storytelling as child growing up in Erie, Pennsylvania. He had three
sisters, with whom he would sit and listen to many stories that his grandmother would tell. Some of
these stories were intended to inspire her grandchildren. Some were told to teach, and many stories
were told for comfort. No matter the reason, these stories had a long lasting impact on Marc, and his
childhood relationship with his grandmother was vital to his career as a writer.
It was actually his grandmother Thora that inspired Marc Brown to write stories of his own in the

character was an actual rat. This character was based off of Brown's most hated teacher from his
childhood. Arthur's best friend in the novel was a bunny named Buster Baxter. Buster was a creation

growing up, and was always in trouble; therefore Buster took on the role of a jokester in the novel.
Some other characters included Sue Ellen, who was based off of Marc's childhood crush. Perhaps
one of the most famous characters was Arthur's younger sister, D.W., whom was a combination of

Catch 22 Satire
Joseph Heller's post–World War II novel, Catch 22, has long been hailed as the most quintessentially
American work of satire belonging to the last two centuries. This bitter comedy is both a product of
the author's prowess as a social critic and the social, cultural, and political climate in which it was
written. As such, it focuses heavily on the distinctly American brand of patriotism popularized by
the propaganda and war–rallying efforts spearheaded by the Allied governments during the second
world war. In constructing one of the most absurdist pieces of literature in circulation to date, Heller
sheds a light on the logical fallacies fundamental to the doctrine of patriotism and brings to life a
cast of characters who embody each and every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hobbes, one philosopher who reached the peak of his career during this era, tends to uphold rather
stringent criteria for individuals with "the right to rule." Indeed, the expectations set forth for a ruler
in Thomas Hobbes' 1651 Leviathan are impressive. "For by Art is created," he writes, "that great
Leviathan called a commonwealth, or state which is but an Artificial Man; though of greater stature
and strength than the Natural, for whose protection and defence it was intended; and in which, the
Sovereignty is an Artificial Soul, as giving life and motion to the whole body" (Hobbes). Not a
single officer or bureaucrat within the pages of Catch 22 lives up to this criteria. Yossarian, for
instance, seems to act only out of self–preservation–a fact which is made evident in his attitude
towards the officers' club on Pianosa. "There were many officers' clubs that Yossarian had not
helped build," writes Heller, "but he was proudest of the one on Pianosa. It was a sturdy and
complex monument to his powers of determination. Yossarian never

The Characteristics Of Animals And Environments
Rationale
Standards
SC.5.L15 asserts that Earth is a home to a great diversity of living things whose survival depends on
the changes in the environment. However, individuals of the same kind usually differ in
characteristics, and such differences give individuals an advantage to survive and reproduce in
certain environments (CPALMS, 2015).
Real Life Applications
When observing the different characteristics of animals and environments, it is possible to determine
the kind of environment that a particular animal is likely to survive better in. The knowledge about
the characteristics of animals helps in classifying animals in different environments they seem to be
best adapted to survive. It is also important how their individual ... Show more content on

Descriptive Essay On My Grandmother
Granddaughter Peeping through the blinds, I wave goodbye to my mom in her red, Mercedes Benz,
and to my dad in his white, Toyota van, watching them go opposite directions towards work. I
stumble across the couch, leaving indents from my knees, and walk into the kitchen where my
grandmother stands with her familiar gray mug filled with steaming coffee and two cubes of sugar.
As I walk to her side at the counter, I reach into a pink, plastic fruit basket containing ripe treasures
purchased from Lion's Supermarket. Two fruits: an apple and an orange, immediately sit upon my
two hands. Shoving the round red into my grandma's eyes, I await an answer. She squints, wrinkles
deepening on her forehead, as if the apple was the challenge question on a math test. "Or...ange," she
says. I shake my head, and sound out the beginning letters of the fruit I was offering, until the word,
"apple," struggles out of her mouth. We both smile at the accomplishment as she points down at the
orange and correctly states its name, confident in fashion. This calls for celebratory peeled orange
and sliced sweet apple. Two weeks and two fruits, teaching my Chinese grandma some English
words marks the biggest accomplishment of my first grade self. My first vivid memory of her, back
when she wore floral button ups from China, cooked egg fried rice for our summer lunches, and
washed my hair in the sink. I was her granddaughter. She was my mother's māmā. We did not have

John Yossarian Quotes
John Yossarian
Yossarian at first appears to be a paranoid and weak character. He believes that everyone is trying to
kill him, and pretends to be sick in the hospital to avoid combat. His main goal throughout the war is
to survive, and to escape the military.
"'They're trying to kill me'" (9).
Yossarian learns that Orr is alive and decides to run away to Sweden to escape the war.
Through Yossarian's character, Heller satirizes the fact that not everybody involved in war is a hero.
Although Yossarian contributes to the war effort and does his share, deep inside he is truly
traumatized by the war and cannot bring himself to be brave. Unlike the others who put themselves
on the line in battle, Yossarian's paranoia causes him to hide in hospitals, pretending to suffer from
sickness.

Korn continues to manipulate and control Cathcart, but he does not want to go to a higher rank
because he wants Cathcart to be his scapegoat for any wrong decisions.
Heller criticizes the power struggles that occur within the military. Korn, Cathcart's inferior,
manages to take control of Cathcart's job without anybody noticing, and he does not admit to it
because he is afraid of being blamed for anything wrong.
Clevinger
Clevinger is an optimistic character, which causes Yossarian to dislike him due to their opposite
personalities. Yossarian believes him to be crazy because he does not believe that everyone is out to
kill him, while Clevinger believes that Yossarian isolates himself from others too much.
"As far back as Yossarian could recall, he explained to Clevinger with a patient smile, somebody
was always hatching a plot to kill him" (12).
Clevinger disappears after his plane flies into a cloud.
Hellinger satirizes those who find positivity in time of war. Clevinger, ironically, kept a positive
mindset throughout, but he ultimately disappears, his future unknown.

It was not reasonable to expect the claimant to remember the clause from one transaction to the next.
Consequently the garage was liable to pay for the damage.
I would advise mikiwaber that he should pay for the missing lorry and that he didn't provide a
reasonable duty of care which the law states he should have. The lorry he should have been looking
after was left in a side street which would mean he doesn't have control of the safety of the vehicle.
The goods were not stored where they had agreed to be stored. The fact that he expressed his
excluded liability on a note is irrelevant as it breaks section 2 (2) of the goods and services act. The
note was already a day late also and this is after the contract has begun. For any clauses to work they
need to be declared at the time the contract was made.
I would refer him to the following case which shows the proper way to exclude liability.
Thompson section 2 (1)
Mrs. T bought a railway ticket. it said 'for conditions see back ', on the back of the ticket was a
clause excluding the liability of the railway for an injuries whatsoever cause, Mrs. t couldn't read,
mrs t was injured when she fell out of the train at the platform (as there was no platform at her

Sextus Perceptions Of Animals
Empiricus states that animals view objects differently based on the way they perceive them. The
obvious differences between species indicate there is a difference in the way an object can make
different impressions to humans and nonhumans. It is said that people with jaundice would see
objects with a yellow tint, that those with normal eyesight would see in white. And also that a person
with bloodshot eyes would see objects with a red tint. He further states that animals like and dislike
difference things. Most dogs will enjoy a swim in a lake, whereas a cat would very much not enjoy
that adventure. Likewise, the arctic wolf would most likely not enjoy a Florida vacation nor would
an alligator probably enjoy a Minnesota winter. The lake is the same exact physical place, but a dog
would see a place he really wanted to go as a cat may sniff at it, but turn right around. This is all
based on an animals preferences and dislikes. We can't judge from our own perceptions what
another animal perceives of it's surroundings. All animals are not ... Show more content on

objects as yellow or red. Sextus talks of those animals with hair in their ears would hear things such
as if we would if we covered ours. We also know this to be untrue. Cats and dogs, with hair in their
ears, hear much better than humans, that have no ear hair in comparison. He also states the food we
eat becomes our bones, veins, arteries, etc. This is also not factual information. The science of these
claims seem false and cause me to not trust the rest of his opinions. Granted he did not know these
scientific truths when he wrote this. Using these examples to say we cannot adjudicate how animals

It's funny how things can seem one way, and really be something very different. During fifth grade,
just before Thanksgiving break, I was sitting in a middle school assembly. I was reading something
off of the screen, and my teacher asked me why I was squinting. I shrugged and thought nothing of
it for a while. A week later, I was sitting in her class, and I had to ask about what was on the board. I
don't remember what it was, but it was something pretty simple. She was confused because I was a

Examples Of Satire In Catch 22
The Enactment of Satire in Catch–22
Catch–22 is a fictional novel created to be an aberration from war novels. Laughing in the face of
war and death, literally, is one of the things that make the novel Catch–22 and makes it a notable
satirists novel, an original story. It was written in 1961,during the the second World War, when all
war novels were written with a dark and dreary tone, while also trying to continue the pre–
conceived romantic notions about war. Joseph Heller strips away all of the romantic pretense, and
pulling heavily on his own Air Force experience during WWII, presents war in its most raw, un–
censored version. He takes away the PG–13 version of war and presents the true paradoxes that
arise, and shows the violence of war, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aggression is an indirect or direct attack on an issue in society pertaining to an individual or as
situation. It is displayed in the form of humor mixed with play to create paradoxical situations in the
book. For instance, the scene in which Aardvark rapes and kills a woman in chapter 39: "I only
raped her once explained Aarfy. I had to do that after I raped her" (Heller 418). Heller strategically
creates Aarfy to be a dispassionate individual. He shows no compassion or discomfort when
discussing the murder he just committed. He justifies his actions through selfish means. When
Yossarian confronted Aarfy about his actions his reaction is incongruent with the abomination that
he just committed. Any normal human being would have shown remorse for the life that was just
lost, not Aarfy. By utilizing aggression Heller is able to highlight the loss of sanity within characters
such as Aarfy. His mind has been desensitized to death and he no longer fears taking an innocent
civilian's life because he has distanced himself from pain and any emotional realm. This satirical
example of aggression also shows the flaws in law enforcement. When Yossarian expresses his
anger towards Aarfy and warns him about the fate that awaits him. Aarfy assures him that he will
not get in trouble. Yossarian is acting as a cautionary prophet in this piece. However, the snarling
twist is when Yossarian is the one who is arrested. In fact "they arrested Yossarian for being in Rome

The Impact of New Media on Pr
The impact of new media on public relations Every once in a long while, the way that people
receive and distribute news is majorly impacted by times and technology. The 20th century brought
TV, radio, and the Internet. Just as these media channels defined their times, so the rise of new
media will also define the 21st century. In modern society, all public relation practitioners are
confronted with a startling series of new communications channels and struggle with the impact of
new media. The "new media" gives rise to a new style of marketing that is characterized by
conversation and community. Internet–based social media tools include blogs (WordPress

Whereas new media can be combinations of several forms, such as it can contain words, audio,
video, or graphics together, to express one event. Hence, when expressing an issue, new media
presents a better way. The third difference is that traditional media only broadcasts a message. New
Media brings people into a conversation. More specifically, new media is an "open" communication,
it permits all people to respond and interact with material directly. New media also gives people real
power to create, express, even produce their own ideas. For example, a sightseer or a reader can
leave their comments on your blog. Nevertheless, traditional media is controlled by the content
producer, and not convenient for people to voice their own opinions and ideas. Traditional media
revolves around the "information producer", and how or what it says. New media is more friendly,
more humane, and more people centered, than traditional media. The final difference is about
manipulating information. It's very hard to efficiently extract and process data which has a large
amount of information through using newspapers, magazines or other traditional media. There is a
huge difference here, such as in our daily life, we can get news on the Internet in the morning, which
is the same news you can from TV in the afternoon or evening and can read it in the newspaper
tomorrow. Although there may be

Antomy of Fish and Amphibians Essay
Anatomy A way to identify a fish is by their body structure, they have fins and a backbone. The
anatomical adaptation of fins helps them survive and makes them and marine animal unique in that
they use them to maintain their position, move, steer, and stop. Most fish have scales and breathe
though gills. Most fish also have a mucus layer that helps them prevent infections. With in what we
consider "fish," there are many that don't very much look like they are earth creatures. The strangest
fish species are found in deep ocean waters, such as the Pacific Barreleye, which is distinctive in

An anatomical advantage of the reptile class is that their limbs have shifted to the bottom, compared
to amphibians, which are on their sides. The Texas Horned Lizard can shoot blood out of its eyes; it
certainly is one of the most interesting animals in the reptile class.
Birds differ from the previous three classes in their physical appearance, even though their
evolutionary line originates directly from the reptiles. From the out side they all look relatively
similar, they all have wings and feathers, their feet are similar, they all have hollow bones and
special respiratory and metabolic systems, and they have beaks. Even though they might seem little,
variations in their wings, feathers, feet, and beaks are what make each species of birds unique. Birds
feet are classified by how their toes' positions and what purpose they serve, from just looking at the
birds feet it is possible to identify what kind of bird they are. For example, a duck's foot structure is
an anatomical advantage since it allows them to swim better. The most strange looking and
interesting bird species are Vulturine Guinea Fowl; Anhinga; Hood Mockingbird and Vampire
Finch, which both feed on blood; African Crown Eagle, which feeds on monkeys; and finally the
Great Grey Shrike, which impales its prey. Mammals are completely different from

He was thirty–nine years old. In the course of his brief life he had risen from the world of thieving, pimping, and drug pushing to become one of the most articulate and powerful blacks in America during the early 1960s. Education is the most efficient door that opens the way into success. It is one of the main weapon of an individual to acquire his full potential as a human being. Without it, you won't be able to attain things that you want to attain. You won't be able to reach the peak of your aspiration. You won't be considered as a person ... He tried not to come outside during this time of night, (because that was when they came out) but this was the only time his contact would agree to meet with him. He kept walking, and eventually reached the outskirts of the city. I can't remember what this place was called, he thought as he walked. A worn–down building answered his question; tattered letters on the side of the wall displayed the words NYPD. At last, he found his contact. A skinny, slight man, Lester was as strange as anyone Anton had ever met. He spoke with a strange accent, and seemed unsure on his feet. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Pros And Cons Of Cartoons If a 'worldwide phenomenon' is defined as an occurrence that is reaching throughout the world, then it would be reasonably logical to conclude that the consumption of animated cartoon shows are indeed, a worldwide phenomenon. Since 1960s, cartoons have provided numerous generations of children with a type of entertainment that filled their little minds with fantasy and imagination. Cartoons may have started out as an entertainment for children. However, the world today sees different genres of cartoons produced to target a different group of audience, and cartoons today are not anymore exclusive to children. The Children: As a matter of fact, we all loved cartoons as a child. Cartoons were fun and precious to children just like how exciting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, since this group of audiences is at the stage of learning more complex knowledge that may be tedious to infuse into entertainment–based animated shows, the scriptwriters would rather leave the academic teachings to the schools. Instead, cartoons of this genre are evidently focused on delivering moral values and encouraging friendships and family–cohesiveness. Plots for these cartoon shows might feature the characters going through some distressing troubles or difficulties; however, things always turn out right in the end. 'SpongeBob Squarepants', a long–run cartoon series from the 90s featuring SpongeBob the yellow sponge and his starfish best friend Patrick, has been undoubtedly successful in imparting valuable lessons on friendship and altruism in the minds of teenagers. For example, SpongeBob has always been portrayed as being very giving and selfless to Patrick who might sometimes seems brainless and naive; Patrick, on the other hand, though usually emotionless, becomes very sad when SpongeBob befalls some unfortunate fate, and always attempts to help him at his best efforts. Cartoons for the young adults may also adopt a more lenient language style, permitting the use of trending slangs and everyday phrases such as 'what's up' or 'aww–man' which are otherwise fended off by the scriptwriters of a children's ... The reliability has been tested statistically, through comparative review, analysis of the historical patterns, and strengths and weaknesses inherent in the editing process unique to Wikipedia.[1] Incidents of conflicted editing, and the use of Wikipedia for 'revenge editing' (inserting false, defamatory or biased statements into biographies) have attracted publicity.[2][3] A study in the journal Nature said that in 2005, Wikipedia's scientific articles came close to the level of accuracy in Encyclopædia Britannica and had a similar rate of "serious errors". [4] Encyclopædia Britannica disputed the Nature study,[5] and Nature replied with a formal response and point–by–point rebuttal of Britannica's main objections.[6] Between 2008 and 2012, Wikipedia articles on medical and scientific fields such as pathology,[7] toxicology,[8] oncology,[9] pharmaceuticals,[10][11] and psychiatry[12] were compared to professional and peer reviewed sources and it was found that Wikipedia's depth and coverage were of a high standard. Captain Aarfy Symbolism In Catch 22 In Joseph Heller's Catch–22, many characters are traumatized because they are all involved in an ongoing war, some of the characters go on to do horrible things, and many men simply go insane. However, there is one character that is the worst of them all Heller's character Captain "Aarfy"Aardvark: suffering from traumatic experiences and the loss of a woman's touch, Aarfy goes on to do the worst thing imaginable, he rapes a woman and then kills her because it is "his most condescending manner"(Heller 427). Heller ultimately shows how a traumatic situation can lead a terrible person to do dreadful actions. First, Heller states that Aarfy is a stout navigator in Captain Yossarian's B–25. Then, Heller mentions that the police are coming to apprehend Aarfy for his actions. Heller shows how fast and loud the police sirens are approaching their location by writing "[an] onrushing cacophony of overwhelming sound that seemed to crash into the room around [...] from every side." (Heller 428) This creates an intense feeling because police sirens are heard from a mile way and to imagine police cars approaching a murderer give an extreme sense of anticipation. • 19. Literary Devices: Malcolm X Essay Well Read Most of us learn to read through various outlets such as television, books, movies, etc. Becoming literate is essential to functioning in society. Looking back at one of the most influential figures of the 1960's, it is hard to imagine that at age 21 Malcolm X tried to start a letter with "Look, daddy, let me pull your coat about a cat..." (X 256). He spent 7 years in prison for robbery, and during that time he underwent a self–metamorphosis. His way of putting it is "books opened up a whole new world to me" (260). History, philosophy, genetics and a whole dictionary all contributed to his learning process. But, as he learned more, he found the terrors of slavery and the other atrocities that the white man had brought upon the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Malcolm states that he transcribed the entire dictionary, and this helped him realize that there were many words that he did not know. From there on the reader sees his dedication to literature "I printed out everything on that first page of the dictionary, down to the punctuation" (258). Instead of saying he was dedicated to books, he keeps introducing these photos of how dedicated he was to reading. Further into the book the imagery continues as he reminisces, "You couldn't have got me out of books with a wedge... [and] months passed without me even thinking about being imprisoned" (259). These two quotes are semi–abstract, in a sense, but the reader's brain still tries to make the connection. Such as, if I was imprisoned, how hard would it be not to think of my incarceration? Or, could they really not pry him out of a book with a wedge? It's silly, but the brain works that way. Lastly, we see imagery by X stating that he was able to read about history from outside the white narrative. He articulates it in a way that brings shame to any human who has a heart, "black slave women tied up and flogged with whips; of black mothers watching their babies being dragged off, never to be seen by their mothers again; of dogs after slaves, and of the fugitive slave catchers, evil white men ... • 21. Persuasive Essay On Plastic Straws Americans use over 500 million plastic straws every single day–that's enough to circle the earth's circumference 2.5 times (Ives et al 2017). By 2050, there will be more plastic debris in the ocean than fish (Kaplan 2016). These staggering statistics are unacceptable and it is our duty to find a realistic, sustainable solution to the issue. Plastic pollution is one of today's most pressing problems, and minimizing the use of straws is a feasible and realistic step in the right direction. Although the problem of pollution is widely understood, the extent of the damage by plastic straws is not as known or acknowledged. Education of children and adults is an integral component of shifting cultural norms and mindsets. With a more informed population, people will be more likely to refuse and forgo plastic utensils. Furthermore, businesses and influential icons play a vital role in this opportunity. Some restaurants give out both a cup and straw as a mere convenience and a no–straw policy implementation in such businesses can make a big difference. By initially targeting coastal areas of the United States to adopt eco–friendly methods, eventually this transition could inspire a nation–wide law to ban plastic straws to globally shift society–environment interactions to sustainability. While eliminating plastic straws entirely is ideal, it is difficult to make an abrupt shift; an attainable solution is to gradually switch to bio–degradable and eco–friendly straws like glass, metal, ... • 23. The Importance Of Plagiarism In College Students In short: Don't do it. But in truth, that is not good enough. I have assigned and graded or had graded by TA's tens of thousands of bits of writing by college students over the years. A lot of my friends are teachers. My wife is a teacher. I've seen it all. If you are a student trying to avoid getting caught plagiarizing, I can help you. You need to know the following three things. These facts will save you from getting tossed out of college or having a mark on your high school record. 1) Teachers hate plagiarism more than they hate stepping on puppies and kittens. If there are two students in a class, and one has plagiarized an assignment and one has crushed some puppies and kittens, and the teacher only has time to turn one of them it to the administration, they'll turn in the plagiarizer. 2) There has almost never been a case where a student was proved to have plagiarized something (by matching the original to the student's paper) where the plagiarism wasn't already blindingly obvious to the teacher to begin with. In other words, when you plagiarize something, it is always spotted immediately. If some other student tells you that they got away with it, they are lying to you (like House says, people always lie) or the teacher chose to not turn them in. Yet. Given this, you should understand that plagiarism is never a good strategy for improving your grade. Just don't do it. ________________________________ Check out our new science podcast, Ikonokast. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Stephen King Learning To Write Analysis Comparing Different Approaches on How to Become a Better Writer The importance of reading is well described by two highly educated and skilled authors. "Reading to Write" by Stephen King and "Learning to Read" by Malcom X. King's piece looks to encourage hopeful writers by expounding upon the importance of incessantly reading in order to become a better writer. X's account goes into how he was able to teach himself to read which opened up unlimited knowledge to him. He hopes to encourage others to read to defeat ignorance and prevent being controlled by misinformation and hidden truths. Both authors do their job in relating their passion for reading and absolutely inspire the reader to pick up a book. King does this far better by being much more relatable by sharing personal experiences whereas X's description digresses into his own personal motives far too often to be as effective. Where was he?, she wondered, growing impatient like all eight year olds do. Soon car lights broke the darkness of the night and the dog collar was heard running towards the door. He walked in. Her mom had been bequeathed a 1953 cadillac from her grandfather and on special occasions they took it out for a spin. They called it the Cadzilla. Dad drove, Mom played front–seat driver, and the three cherubs remained in the backseat. They were covered with a blanket which shielded them from the coolness the dappled sunlight offered. Common Mistakes in Writing Common Mistakes in Writing: Comma Splice In your writing, there are 3 major problems that we commonly have to address as teachers/instructors/professors/etc. I want you to take the time to read about these. While we don 't expect this to fix your issues instantly, we are hoping that you 'll aim to make less of these mistakes in the future (especially on your papers, where these errors WILL be counted off for). Comma Splice –– Commas are tricky because there are so many different ways you can use them, but one of the most common ways to use commas is to separate two main clauses that are connected by a coordinating conjunction. That just means that when you join two things that could be sentences on their own with a word such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You 'll notice that with run–on sentences and comma splices, the two are very similar issues and solved in the same manner. It 's a good rule of thumb to remember them together. If you need any help, contact Dr. Wilson or myself. Common Mistakes in Writing: Sentence Fragments The last major error that we encounter in writing is the sentence fragment. These are a bit trickier to solve than the other two issues, but you should have no problem as long as you take your time with them. Sentence Fragment––A part of a sentence that is punctuated as a complete sentence. It may lack a subject, a predicate, or both, or it may be a dependent clause. It can be fixed in one of three ways: He quit his job. And cleared out his desk. (the second sentence is wrong) This deals with a missing subject or predicate. These are usually the result of faulty punctuation of a compound predicate. Either add the subject, or change the punctuation to incorporate the fragment into the preceding sentence: He quite his job. And he cleared out his desk. Or: He quit his job and cleared out his desk. A missing or incomplete predicate is often the result of using a verbal instead of a finite verb. Usually, the best remedy is addition of a helping verb: Sheila waiting to see you. Becomes: Sheila is waiting to see you. Although a dependent clause has a subject and a predicate, it cannot stand alone as a sentence because it begins with a relative

  • 34. Georg Cantor Georg Cantor I. Georg Cantor Georg Cantor founded set theory and introduced the concept of infinite numbers with his discovery of cardinal numbers. He also advanced the study of trigonometric series and was the first to prove the nondenumerability of the real numbers. Georg Ferdinand Ludwig Philipp Cantor was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, on March 3, 1845. His family stayed in Russia for eleven years until the father's sickly health forced them to move to the more acceptable environment of Frankfurt, Germany, the place where Georg would spend the rest of his life. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There simply is no biggest number. Is infinity a number? Is there anything bigger than infinity? How about infinity plus one? What's infinity plus infinity? What about infinity times infinity? Children to whom the concept of infinity is brand new, pose questions like this and don't usually get very satisfactory answers. For adults, these questions don't seem to have very much bearing on daily life, so their unsatisfactory answers don't seem to be a matter of concern. At the turn of the century Cantor applied the tools of mathematical rigor and logical deduction to questions about infinity in search of satisfactory answers. His conclusions are paradoxical to our everyday experience, yet they are mathematically sound. The world of our everyday experience is finite. We can't exactly say where the boundary line is, but beyond the finite, in the realm of the transfinite, things are different. Sets and Set Theory Cantor is the founder of the branch of mathematics called Set Theory, which is at the foundation of much of 20th century mathematics. At the heart of Set Theory is a hall of mirrors––the paradoxical infinity. Georg Cantor was known to have said, "I see it, but I do not believe it," about one of his proofs. You can chat with them, go to their town, and even convince their animals that live there to move to your town! But there's even more! You can escape to an island paradise and go on tours there and meet people and get exotic fruits for your town. You can even get seashells there. Oh! and you can go deep sea diving with a wetsuit and collect slugs, crabs, octopi, and more! But my favorite part about Animal Crossing: New Leaf, is how every hour the background music changes. • 38. Essay about Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience Reviving Psychophysical Supervenience ABSTRACT: Many philosophers have lost their enthusiasm for the concept of supervenience in the philosophy of mind. This is largely due to the fact that, as Jaegwon Kim has shown, familiar versions of supervenience describe relations of mere property covariation without capturing the idea of dependence. Since the dependence of the mental on the physical is a necessary requirement for even the weakest version of physicalism, it would seem that existing forms of supervenience cannot achieve that for which they were designed. My aim is to revive the concept of supervenience. I argue that if we construe supervenience along Davidsonian lines – as a relation connecting predicates rather than properties – ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In light of this, many have lost their enthusiasm for this idea. My goal in this paper is to renew our faith in supervenience. To do so, however, will not require the development of a new formulation of the concept; instead, it involves clearing up some misconceptions about an existing version of this relation. I refer to Davidson's original treatment of supervenience. Most have assumed that Davidson's brand of supervenience is equivalent to Kim's "weak supervenience," which is too weak to express dependence. I will argue that Davidson's conception of supervenience is, despite certain formal similarities, quite different from Kim's and clearly captures a sense of psychophysical dependence that is of use to forms of physicalism. As I see it, the difference between Kim's approach and Davidson's lies in the items supervenience is thought to connect. Kim's formulations of supervenience connect properties, which he takes to be the ontological building blocks of events. In general then, Kim treats supervenience as a metaphysical thesis about the distribution of properties in possible worlds. By contrast, Davidson has little tolerance for the idea that events should be analyzed in terms of property exemplifications. Given Davidson's reluctance to endorse properties, he prefers to think of supervenience as a relation between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As such, it focuses heavily on the distinctly American brand of patriotism popularized by the propaganda and war–rallying efforts spearheaded by the Allied governments during the second world war. I would advise mikiwaber that he should pay for the missing lorry and that he didn't provide a reasonable duty of care which the law states he should have. The lorry he should have been looking after was left in a side street which would mean he doesn't have control of the safety of the vehicle. The goods were not stored where they had agreed to be stored. The fact that he expressed his excluded liability on a note is irrelevant as it breaks section 2 (2) of the goods and services act. The note was already a day late also and this is after the contract has begun. For any clauses to work they need to be declared at the time the contract was made. I would refer him to the following case which shows the proper way to exclude liability. Thompson section 2 (1) Mrs. T bought a railway ticket. it said 'for conditions see back ', on the back of the ticket was a clause excluding the liability of the railway for an injuries whatsoever cause, Mrs. t couldn't read, mrs t was injured when she fell out of the train at the platform (as there was no platform at her carriage doorway. she argued that she didnt know about it because she couldnt read. Held the clause was in a reasonable place on the back of the ticket and it had been communicated to most people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. Sextus Perceptions Of Animals Empiricus states that animals view objects differently based on the way they perceive them. The obvious differences between species indicate there is a difference in the way an object can make different impressions to humans and nonhumans. It is said that people with jaundice would see objects with a yellow tint, that those with normal eyesight would see in white. And also that a person with bloodshot eyes would see objects with a red tint. He further states that animals like and dislike difference things. Most dogs will enjoy a swim in a lake, whereas a cat would very much not enjoy that adventure. Likewise, the arctic wolf would most likely not enjoy a Florida vacation nor would an alligator probably enjoy a Minnesota winter. The lake is the same exact physical place, but a dog would see a place he really wanted to go as a cat may sniff at it, but turn right around. This is all based on an animals preferences and dislikes. We can't judge from our own perceptions what another animal perceives of it's surroundings. All animals are not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although not a scientist, I know that a person with jaundice or bloodshot eyes doesn't actually see objects as yellow or red. Sextus talks of those animals with hair in their ears would hear things such as if we would if we covered ours. We also know this to be untrue. Cats and dogs, with hair in their ears, hear much better than humans, that have no ear hair in comparison. He also states the food we eat becomes our bones, veins, arteries, etc. This is also not factual information. The science of these claims seem false and cause me to not trust the rest of his opinions. Granted he did not know these scientific truths when he wrote this. Using these examples to say we cannot adjudicate how animals perceive objects doesn't come ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Church Camp Counseling Church Camp Counseling For community service I worked at Lake Lucerne Camp – Wisconsin United Methodist Church for two weeks, one week of training and one week of assistant counseling. The first week of training consisted of all the adult councilors and everyone (high schoolers) who signed up for the Leaders In Training (LIT) Program. The LIT group was the only group there besides the church group Rizing Sun, a group of children from kindergarten to twelfth grade who all have one or more parents in incarceration. • 71. Day Before Thanksgiving It's funny how things can seem one way, and really be something very different. During fifth grade, just before Thanksgiving break, I was sitting in a middle school assembly. I was reading something off of the screen, and my teacher asked me why I was squinting. I shrugged and thought nothing of it for a while. A week later, I was sitting in her class, and I had to ask about what was on the board. I don't remember what it was, but it was something pretty simple. She was confused because I was a strong science student, but she started to explain it nonetheless. I told her that I was wondering what was ON the board, and before I knew it I was at a vision screening. I filled out a form, and a woman with coiffed blond hair was placing my eyes into ... You can be horrified by something, but if you adopt the right attitude, it can make you incredibly happy. Our very existence is really nothing more than a collection of thoughts, memories, experiences that allow us to visualize our world. The world can be a dark, murky place, but you can put it through a lens, and with the right tools you can see beauty in the darkest of hours. I can no longer recognize faces or landscapes without glasses (everything just turns into a big blobby mess), but once I put on my glasses, I can see all of the beautiful wonders of the world, of life, of nature. I can see that I'm getting really deep and philosophical, and so I can back away with a fact. The human body is bioluminescent, which means that, like a firefly, you are a shining beacon of light! Sadly, that light is far too weak to be visible and it disperses. • 73. Examples Of Satire In Catch 22 The Enactment of Satire in Catch–22 Catch–22 is a fictional novel created to be an aberration from war novels. Laughing in the face of war and death, literally, is one of the things that make the novel Catch–22 and makes it a notable satirists novel, an original story. It was written in 1961,during the the second World War, when all war novels were written with a dark and dreary tone, while also trying to continue the pre– conceived romantic notions about war. Joseph Heller strips away all of the romantic pretense, and pulling heavily on his own Air Force experience during WWII, presents war in its most raw, un– censored version. He takes away the PG–13 version of war and presents the true paradoxes that arise, and shows the violence of war, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aggression is an indirect or direct attack on an issue in society pertaining to an individual or as situation. It is displayed in the form of humor mixed with play to create paradoxical situations in the book. For instance, the scene in which Aardvark rapes and kills a woman in chapter 39: "I only raped her once explained Aarfy. I had to do that after I raped her" (Heller 418). Heller strategically creates Aarfy to be a dispassionate individual. He shows no compassion or discomfort when discussing the murder he just committed. He justifies his actions through selfish means. When Yossarian confronted Aarfy about his actions his reaction is incongruent with the abomination that he just committed. Any normal human being would have shown remorse for the life that was just lost, not Aarfy. By utilizing aggression Heller is able to highlight the loss of sanity within characters such as Aarfy. His mind has been desensitized to death and he no longer fears taking an innocent civilian's life because he has distanced himself from pain and any emotional realm. This satirical example of aggression also shows the flaws in law enforcement. When Yossarian expresses his anger towards Aarfy and warns him about the fate that awaits him. Aarfy assures him that he will not get in trouble. Yossarian is acting as a cautionary prophet in this piece. However, the snarling twist is when Yossarian is the one who is arrested. The Impact of New Media on Pr The impact of new media on public relations Every once in a long while, the way that people receive and distribute news is majorly impacted by times and technology. The 20th century brought TV, radio, and the Internet. Just as these media channels defined their times, so the rise of new media will also define the 21st century. In modern society, all public relation practitioners are confronted with a startling series of new communications channels and struggle with the impact of new media. Whereas new media can be combinations of several forms, such as it can contain words, audio, video, or graphics together, to express one event. Hence, when expressing an issue, new media presents a better way. The third difference is that traditional media only broadcasts a message. New Media brings people into a conversation. More specifically, new media is an "open" communication, it permits all people to respond and interact with material directly. New media also gives people real power to create, express, even produce their own ideas. For example, a sightseer or a reader can leave their comments on your blog. Nevertheless, traditional media is controlled by the content producer, and not convenient for people to voice their own opinions and ideas. Traditional media revolves around the "information producer", and how or what it says. New media is more friendly, more humane, and more people centered, than traditional media. The final difference is about manipulating information. It's very hard to efficiently extract and process data which has a large amount of information through using newspapers, magazines or other traditional media. From the out side they all look relatively similar, they all have wings and feathers, their feet are similar, they all have hollow bones and special respiratory and metabolic systems, and they have beaks.
