18-24, all genders, have an interest in books, films, entertainment, gaming.
Rationale:
The project has been set to be aimed toward 18-24yr olds. York is visited by age groups older than
this so, I want to create something that can be consumed by the age group I’m trying to attract.
Harry Potter has is a part of British culture, as well as York culture, and is currently trending for this
age group. Doing something digital will also help, as this group tend to enjoy documenting their
time places and sharing with others. For this project, I want to combine Harry Potter, digital media,
and York to make this successful.
Project Concept:
The project concept is a digital tour guide to see harry potter themed locations. The tour guide will
have visual qualities that are inspired by the marauder’s maps from the Harry Potter book and film
series. The map will take you through a tour where you can take photos to then collect points. It
will have a point system which will help get money off attraction inn York as well as the Watford
Harry Potter World. I want to have a feature where you can upload a picture to the map to relace
icons once visited however I do want to keep the concept as simple as possible. The map should
have small details that make it distinctively York and unlike other cities. I will need to research
some feature that I could include that links to harry potter and the marauders. I also need to
research York maps to see what I should include and what is important. I want to able to draw the
map myself to make it as accurate as possible to York. A bonus I want to create is small
animations or interactive icons however depending on time, I will see if it is possible.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
In terms of evaluation, I will have a document called ‘production reflections’ where I will log my
work at the end of the day. I will talk about everything that I did, what worked well and what didn’t
work so well. This will help me analyse my outcomes and outline some skill that I have gained
during the project. I will write the outline of my skill in my evaluation document. This document will
be an overall evaluation and I will explain what I would do differently in the future if I was to do
something similar.

Bibliography:
Minimum of 7 sources that you could use for your project. These can be existing products, used
for inspiration. Or books looked at for the theory research. Make sure you get a mixture of books
and products. Limit yourself to no more than 2 websites if possible (you can put Google Book links
like Books on Neil’s Toolbox). Consider galleries, books, magazines, journals, films, computer
games, websites, blogs, social media, radio programmes, archive material, podcasts etc.
This must include at least 2 primary sources of information- tweak Source 1 and 2 to fit.
Alphabetise the list when complete (highlight the sources and click the SORT button- it has an A-Z
and an arrow pointing down on it).
