Anxiety And Anxiety
A STUDY ON RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FEAR OF NEGATIVE EVALUATION AND ANXIETY
ABSTRACT Anxiety is an important psychological phenomenon which influences everyone's life. In other words everyone experience some sort of
anxiety in a day to day life. Many people experience anxiety when they speak in front of public. For most people especially, students these feelings of
anxiety start before they begin to speak and continue throughout the speech but subside immediately after the speech ends. Some may feel only slightly
nervous whereas another may feel faded and nauseated. Like anxiety, fear of negative evaluation also one of an important psychological factors which
negatively influences performance of students. With this contextual, the present study attempted to understand the relationship between these
psychological factors of students. A study was done among 64 students studying in different branches of engineering. Samples of the study are both
hostel dwellers and day scholars. Of the 64 students selected through simple random sampling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result clearly indicates that there is no significant difference in social anxiety between male and female. Hence the hypothesis stating that "There is
no significant gender difference in State Trait Anxiety of Students" is verified based on available evidences. The mean STAI score of female
participants is slightly higher than male participants which indicates that female participants have slightly higher anxiety than male participants. The
reason for anxiety being higher in female can be because of the fact that females are subject to more scrutiny in a patriarchal society. During college,
students deal with a unique amount of stressors. Specifically, college calls for a significant transition, where "students experience many firsts,
including new lifestyle, friends, roommates, exposure to new cultures and alternate ways of thinking," said Hilary

Diagnosable Anxiety
1.)Normal anxiety can almost be viewed as a warning signal. Once the signal is activated, the person is able to deal with whatever may be
threatening or harming them. In order to note whether or not the anxiety is 'normal' or diagnosable, a social worker should like at the physical
resources of the clients, cognitive response and distortions, and their coping strategies. If any of the client's responses to these questions seem to be
exaggerated, it is likely that it is diagnosable anxiety. In addition, those who have anxiety and seem like they have no control over their life will also
be likely to have diagnosable anxiety. A lot of anxiety is personal. Havingfear of certain things is probably not something that is decided as a collective

Anxiety Anxiety is the way the body reacts the stressful, dangerous, or unfamiliar situations. Anxiety causes a sense of uneasiness, distress, or dead to
occur before certain events. This disorder makes one feel far from normal, making one feel drained. Anxiety keeps some from sleeping, concentrating,
having conversations with others, and in worse cases leaving the comfort of their own homes. Anxiety is the most common mental illness in the United
States, over 40 million American adults, 18% of the United States population, have suffered or do suffer from this disorder. Women are twice as likely
to be diagnosed with anxiety than men. Anxiety can appear in many different ways: General Anxiety, Phobias, Social Anxiety, Panic Attacks,... Show

Even though anxiety was only first recognized in 1980 by the American Psychiatric Association, it has been documented since the Ancient Greece
Era. In the era of Ancient Greece, anxiety was called "hysteria" which derived from the Greek word uterus. It was named "hysteria" because Greeks
believe that's this disorder was actually caused from the uterus. and was thought to only occur in women. Women who had "hysteria" were said to
have gotten it due to lack of sexual intercourse and because of that there "female semen" turned to position and made the women behave strangely.
Sexually intercourse was then considered a cure for "hysteria". The next documented cases of anxiety were in the early Renaissance Era, during these
times women who showed that they were highly anxious and prone to "hysteria" were frequently accused of being witches. When women of this time
were vocal about their anxiety suffer greatly, they were "treated" via torture (in Spain), execution (in Britain), and burned at the stake (in Scotland).
Also in this time if presented that you thought your neighbor could possibly be a witch and showed that you were stressed about it, you would set off
the "hysterical" anxiety reaction and be accused of being a witch yourself and could end up incriminated yourself. In the Victorian Era, women with
"hysterical" were sent off to local insane asylum and were given treatments which included electroshock therapy and in severe cases lobotomization.

Mindfulness And Anxiety
Can Mindfulness Help You Overcome Anxiety?
Do you suffer from anxiety? If you do you will understand just how debilitating this condition can be.
The worst aspect of anxiety is that it is often well hidden by the sufferer so the people around you are not aware of what is happening to you. What if
someone told you that there is an exercise that you can learn to do in just a few minutes that would not only help you cope with your anxiety but also
reduce it over time?
Mindfulness is an incredible skill, it is a practice that is taking the world by storm and helping more and more people live in their present.
Anxiety stems from your mind worrying about possible future events or reminiscing over past events. Anxiety makes us believe that dreadful ... Show

The secret lies in being able to gain control over your thoughts. Mindfulness has been shown to lower anxiety and stress as well as the fatigue that it
causes. Over time, it has also been shown to improve memory (which is often negatively affected by anxiety) and improve reaction times.
Is mindfulness the same as meditation? Well, it is similar in some ways. Meditation also teaches you to focus your mind on the present by centering
your thoughts on your breathing. However, they do differ because whereas meditation generally requires a quiet atmosphere, mindfulness can be
practiced at any time and during any task. The aim of mindfulness is to focus on the senses to help the sufferer experience the moment, free from
worry. That is what makes it such a powerful tool in combating anxiety because we all know that anxiety doesn't wait for a quiet moment to strike us.
Damaging and out of control thoughts can rob us of the ability to enjoy our present. Once you have practiced mindfulness you begin to find yourself
automatically pushing aside these crushing thoughts and paying attention to your senses and the world around you. Your mind is more powerful than
you can imagine and I invite you to harness that energy by having a look at this step by step guide that will show you how to get started with
mindfulness in just a few minutes. This is a skill that could truly change your life and help you break out of

Anxiety Title Anxiety has become the most common word uttered in modern medical studies today. What was once an unknown phrase, has evolved
into a versatile word used for describing abnormal behavior throughout a multitude of scenarios. A phrase that encompasses some of the most common
and "popular" medical disorders in modern society, including but not limited to, social anxiety disorders, panic attacks, generalized anxiety disorder, and
a number of phobias. According the Anxiety And Depression Association of America's official website, "An estimated 40 million American adults

In order to express this difference and gain a clear picture and appreciation for how the topic of anxiety has grown over time, we have to go back
and look at the origins or early stages of the subject. What we as a society consider anxiety to be or how exactly we define anxiety has changed
tremendously from what it once was. In an article written by Fay Bound, a woman responsible for a multitude of medical publications, stated,
"Only in the 17th century did anxiety become a descriptive category for feelings or fearfulness accompanied by the precordial tightness or
discomfort" (LANCET). From this quote, it is clear that our knowledge of anxiety is still very young, especially compared to our knowledge of
other medical and psychological disorders. Bound continued to present the early ideals behind anxiety, ". . .the term did not define the emotionally
distressed individual that it does today. Nor was it as rooted in the mind" Anxiety, with regards to this period that time, was classified more as a
physical discomfort and hysteria, rather than the physical and psychological discomfort that we classify it as today. Bound bridges the gap between
what anxiety was considered during the 17th century to what it considered now in the 21st century by explaining how anxiety was reformed to be
categorized as a mental state, "Psychiatrists produced specific models of

Anxiety Do you know what anxiety feels like? You do not. I do not believe that you really understand. I do not believe that you know the feeling. I
will tell you. I will explain it to you. The feeling, that is the thing. You do not understand the feeling. It is not just nervousness or worry. It is not as
simple as that. Anxiety is constant. It is that itch that just will not go away. Because the itch is right in the back of your mind, you cannot get to it.
Whether I am in a crowded restaurant or alone in my room, it is there. Always. Every little thing is a cause for anxiety. Big event coming up? Anxiety.
Something is broken and it's my job to fix it? Anxiety. Need to tell my father something incredibly simple? Anxiety. Think there is nothing toworry
about and everything is fine in my life? Nope, anxiety there too. Whether it is worrying about a big event or a person, or it is just checking every
five minutes to make sure I have absolutely everything I need in my bag, and then always finding something new to pack because there is so many
'what if' situations that it is almost hard to think of anything else, every situation has bad thing when you have anxiety eating away at you constantly.
Anxiety is unexpected. Though constant, it is not constantly at its peak. Taking me by surprise is something anxiety excels at. It is always walking
behind me. It could be right behind me, stepping on my heels, or it could be so far away it is only a glimmer on the horizon. Sometimes,

Definition Of Anxiety
Anxiety
Anxiety strikes with no warning and it can become a problem when it takes over your feelings and emotions. It's something you can't control when it
takes over your mind and you start to overthink everything to a point where it changes your life. Anxiety makes your day stop immediately and starts
with the terror, strong unusual heartbeats, feelings as if you're choking, and may make think you're going crazy.Anxiety is sometimes the reason why
people don't want to wake up another day because it's like living in a torment. (Having no control over your mind is scary. My mind constantly
switches back and forth and will convince itself that things are worse than what they really are.) Borden, Bridgett, "Understanding what it's like to live

you with his panic. "Like I said when anxiety takes over your mind and feelings you don't really have control of what you're thinking and it can drive
you to make terrible decisions. Suicide can even be a possible thought of how to end with your urgency to escape what your feeling at that moment.

Anxiety can be defined as "distress or uneasiness of the mind caused by fear of danger or misfortune" (Anxiety, 1). Many individuals struggle with
anxiety. As an individual dealing with anxiety, a person may explore their past situations to get to the bottom on their anxiety. Do they ever stop to
think of what the root cause of anxiety may be? The motivation of anxiety can fluctuate depending on what the root cause is. Biblically speaking, the
Bible has a great deal to say about anxiety and how to deal with anxiety as it arises. It is important to explore what motivates anxiety and what the
Bible has to say about anxiety. Anxiety can usually be found paired with another psychological disorder, such as depression or ADHD (Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). The feelings of anxiety generally stem from having a lack of activity in the nucleus accumbens, which is found in
hippocampus. The nucleus accumbens "plays a critical role in the experience of pleasure from naturally occurring reinforcers" (Reeve, 58). Although
the nucleus accumbens is where your pleasure and reinforcers are found, "your brains natural anti–anxiety chemicals are endorphins" (Reeve, 59).
When there is a lack of endorphins, an individual will start to feel "...jittery and tense" as well as "...suffering and are in pain, and seeing themselves
go to pieces" (Reeve, 193). Another part of the brain that is responsible for anxiety is amygdala. Author Reeve, writer of text book Understanding

physical distress; according Stossel text Sigmund Freud – who had said that to understand anxiety, "one would be bound to throw a flood of light on
our whole mental existence,"– had two theories of anxiety. Simply psychology states that Freud first theory, was known as Little Hens theory, he states
that repression causes anxiety. In his second theory, later developed, psychoanalytic theory repression is a defense mechanism that keeps unacceptable
thoughts from becoming conscious. This object can arouse all the emotions associated with the forbidden impulse, including the signal anxiety. In this
way, it becomes a phobic object (persistent fear of an object). According to Simply Psychology the first theory surfaced in 1917 Freud believed that

you become obsessed by your worry it paves path for anxiety. Hence worrying too much is the main cause behind anxiety. Although we all worry
about certain things, let it be our health, our work, our career, for our loved ones etc. Specifically worrying is something that you care about.
Anything you care about and want it to function in a certain manner, you worry about it. Worrying in itself is not a bad thing. It offers several

Seeking solution for a problem: We are very often struck with problems and situations which are not easy to cope from. These acquire a permanent
space in our psyche and keep on nagging ourselves to find a solution out of the situation. While we are unable to find a solution, it becomes an
obsession. 2.Keeping track of too many things at the same time: As we know that in a competitive world as today, we all are required to put more
than we are capable of in order keep working. We need to keep a track of all the projects that we have undertaken which continuously acquires some
of our mind. 3.Responsibility: Apart from our work, we all have certain responsibilities that we are compelled to materialize. 3.3 How to handle
worries: We all need to have a well–structured and directed approach to handle worry so as to reap the benefits of worrying. 1.Keep all your
commitments out of your head: The very first thing to achieve the objective is to maintain a diary where you keep track of all the things that might
bother you. Our mind id like the RAM of computer, it has limited storage. If we keep a lot of things in our mind, it will definitely leave a little
memory for our day to day tasks. This hampers our productivity. Hence we should keep all our commitments out of our heads in a trusted storage

ANXIETY Anxiety is an emotion distinguished by feelings of tension, uneasy thoughts and physical changes caused by anticipation of danger. Anxiety
can also be defined as a critical developmental stage related to change, dispute, and perceived control of the environment (Potter and Perry, 2014).
Encountering occasional anxiety is a normal lifestyle, as everyone feels anxious from stressful situations that might make him/her nervous or fearful. In
fact, mild anxiety might help an individual be more observant and focused while facing challenges or frightening situations. Anxiety as a life altering
condition affects even individual's thought and feeling of certain lifestyles. It most commonly affects Americans, and also the majority of people all
over the world. For instance, a life–threatening, marital transition, or job stressor could increase the anxiety level of a patient and family. However,
most adults frequently encounter anxiety in response to the physiological and psychosocial changes of middle age (Potter and Perry, 2014). Feeling
anxious is common for many people of all ages, and a usual reaction to stress. It does help us reconsider life goals and motivates efficiency. It's also
normal to worry about illnesses, new social influences, or any frightening situation, but when such individual undergoes utmost fear and worry that
does not lessen, it may affect activity of life which most likely could lead to an illness (Sakauye, 2008).

Throughout the past years medical research has advanced concerning mental illnesses. Treatments for anxiety has been created based on research found
on how to tackle anxiety. A common treatment is medication. Two common medications for anxiety is serotoninreuptake inhibitor, and serotonin
norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Although other drugs are used, these are the most common ("Treatment"). This suggests that since medications are
the most common, more severe symptoms may need extra treatment. Anxiety has multiple treatments including psychotherapy. Psychotherapy has
multiple branches, one being cognitive behavioral therapy, which focuses on management of symptoms and skills to help relaxation. Another would be
cognitive restructuring, which enforces positive thinking, along with coping plans for certain situations (Landro 2). This passage suggests that
psychotherapy takes a personalized approach for treating anxiety. Although the treatments main focus is to better the patient, it leaves a lot for thevictim
's family and future. Treatments make take a while to help, which leaves victims feeling worse ("Depression" 2). This can lead one to conclude that
because episodes are likely to occur, families must be extra careful to watch and support the victim in the future. Anxiety treatments range from
medication to therapy. Victims may experience relapses in the future and it's important to continuously check up on

Did you know that the brain, your genetics, and your personality are all factors of anxiety? While some people experience anxiety once or twice,
others experience it daily and the feeling is so intense, that some actually need to take medication to make it go away. Anxiety is the feeling of
tension or worry typically felt before a certain event that has an unknown result. So what's the difference between anxiety itself and an anxiety
disorder? Well the answer is quite simple. Anxiety is a common mental disorder that affects people of many ages and is a serious problem that we
do not recognize today. Anxiety is a mental disorder in which a person experiences extreme worry or fear. This feeling of fear causes the majority of
people to have trembling in their hands or to exaggerate the event that is coming their way. Most people also experience racing thoughts or thoughts
that are unwanted. "For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time." (Anxiety Disorders, National
Institute of Mental Health). As you can tell, fear and worry is the source to all of these signs and symptoms. When you experience anxiety, you are not
able to control your thoughts and the feeling would probably intensify. In worse cases, it is possible for the person to experience a panic attack.

General Anxiety Disorder (GAD) affects almost seven million adults in the U.S. Of course with something as large and widespread as G.A.D. there is
bound to be some myths and misconceptions. One of the biggest misconceptions is is that it affects everyone equally. That simply is not the case. The
gender role differences affect the toll anxiety can take on a person. Women are twice as likely to suffer from apanic disorder like G.A.D.; hormones
have a big role in anxiety, as men and women have different chemicals inside their body. There are also the multiple stressors like pregnancy that men
will never face that would trigger anxiety.

this theory. Another stressor men will never face is pregnancy. Unless the being in question is a male seahorse, the female will be the one carrying
and birthing the baby. For nine whole months a woman will have another person in her stomach area. That is only if the mother has one baby. A new

Women have an anxiety rate twice as much as men. Any website, book, or magazine shows no evidence of men suffering as much as women. As a

Somatic anxiety – this type of anxiety is physiological. These feelings are not caused by thoughts; rather it's the body's reaction to your current

School comes with many challenges, many of which students can accomplish with no problem. However, many students are left with feelings of
anxiety when they feel they cannot accomplish or amount to what is expected of them in school. These feelings of anxiety can affect the way they
perform in school and negatively impact their school career. Twenty–five percent of teens experience some sort of anxiety disorder, and that number
continues to rise (Nott). Causes of anxiety vary from person to person, but for many, school is the main cause of worry in students. Anxiety is defined
as "a mental health disorder characterized by feelings of worry, anxiety, or fear that are strong enough to interfere with one's daily activities" (Anxiety
Disorders). Many students have anxiety related to school, a normal emotion they may encounter from time to time. However, some display anxiety that
negatively affects their performance in school. One may undergo physical symptoms such as headaches, shortness of breath, and increased heart rate.
Anxiety can also induce psychological symptoms such as concentration problems, upsetting thoughts, and depression (Scott). In extreme cases, students
can even experience suicidal thoughts. These symptoms can result in students becoming distracted in class, reluctantly completing assignments, and
withdrawing themselves mentally from class. The decline of participation in class produces more stress and anxiety for students. Today, schools have

Coping with Anxiety
Literature review
In 2013, associate professor of psychology at the University of California, Kate Sweeny and her researchers surveyed 230 law school graduates for a
period of four months after taking their bar exam in July 2013 ( J. Hoffman, 2015). The purpose of her research was to focus on the waiting period
during which the person is uncertain of the outcome of a life situation and how they manage any anxiety that may occur during that time. The
individuals that were surveyed in this descriptive research used three different strategies when asked about how they tried to avoid anxiety while
waiting on their exam scores. The first group attempted to suppress their fears by trying to not pay attention. The second group sought for silver
linings. "They tried to anticipate something good in a bad outcome" Dr. Sweeny explained. The third group used defensive pessimism.
At the end of Dr. Sweeny 's research study what came up is that the people that were calmed down during the waiting period were shattered and
paralyzed by the bad news and if they got good news, they were not impress by the results (Dr. Sweeny, 2015). The people who were not doing well
during the waiting period actually handled the news much better than the previous set of people. If they received bad news then they were ready for it

thoughts in the mind become over whelming. This illness can also just run in the family as a genetic trait. In fact, I think anxiety is most common in
women. Especially, women that are pregnant, with all the stress and feeling judged by becoming bloated with the baby and fluids. Some even go
through the depression stage after the baby. At the same time, when a baby is born, some babies are frightened easy or their nerves become very

The Rise Of Anxiety
Anxiety affects more than 25% of American teens every year, with the number continuously on the rise. The disorder is the most common type of
mental disorder and reason to blame is society. Society makes young teens believe that they have the ability to do anything they want in life. While
most parents encourage their kids to do whatever they would like, there is a huge shock for the kid when they find out that it was just a dream. Not
everything is that way. For me, anxiety has a special place in my brain, which causes me to overthink everything. I constantly feel like nothing I do is
good enough or the right thing to do in any given situation. To fight the battle against anxiety, I plan to find things that make me the happiest, stop

Also, William has begun drinking more than usual. Will has begun to be frustrated with his son, and seems that it is because of the ideal of the son
becoming unable to support himself.
William reports that his mother was distant and cold. He suspects that she suffered from depression and alcoholism. From the antidote William
shared, it seemed that his mother suffered from either postpartum depression or severe depression and this could potentially mean that he was
genetically predisposed to develop both depression and alcoholism. Also, in William's childhood, his father "always" provide his family with lavish
gifts and trips. Because William idolized his father, he may subconsciously feel that he should be able to provide his family with the same luxuries.
William may have an irrational view of success, and measure them with expensive gifts.
Will's personal experience with the law and the undergoing of his company could potentially begin to cause financial problems with getting a
payment processed. Also, there is a possibility that Will could be doing something different/ illegal to earn money. To address the family issue, I plan
to use Family Schema Therapy to address the rifts in the family relationships. Ethically, because a few of the sessions will be in a group setting, it will

Symptoms Of Anxiety
Anxiety is a very serious disease and is often overlooked or dismissed by the majority of people in today's society. It can have an immense effect on
a person's daily life in both a physical and emotional way. When a person is suffering from anxiety, they might wake up with an ominous feeling, as if
something horrible is going to happen, although they can't justify why. They can experience bouts of panic, where they feel as if the whole world is
crumbling under them and they have nowhere to go. They are trapped in a battle with an underlying disease that they might not be aware they even
have. There are also physical symptoms that result from anxiety; you may feel dizzy, scared, like you're having a heart attack for no reasons other than

A panic attack is an episode of great fear or anxiety. While for some people certain events trigger these attacks on, others have them for no reason
which can really be a traumatic experience if not treated properly. This is one of many reasons why medicine may be a good option for you if you are
struggling with a lot of physical anxiety symptoms.
Anxiety left untreated can lead to an introverted lifestyle and years of isolation:
People with untreated anxiety may lead a life of isolation. They may use avoidance strategies for fear of an anxiety or panic attack. They may stop
going to work or their work performance may severely suffer. Treatment is available for anxiety and is very effective in reducing symptoms. Most
people receiving proper treatment are able to live normal lives. (Eileen Bailey)
This quote shows how people that leave their anxiety and panic attacks untreated and don't recognize it for the illness it is can have lots of issues.
Most notably how panic attacks can cause you to live in isolation and avoid situations in life that can bring on

Death Anxiety
There are two things in this life that we are all bound to encounter, stress and death. Stress is something that affects each and every human, each and
every day. Some of us may have higher levels of stress than others. One reaction to stress may be anxiety. Anxiety is a physiological, as well as a
psychological state. Anxiety may be viewed as a "more intense" form of stress. Each person will differ when it comes to their own personal causes of
anxiety but quite a common worrisome form is that of death anxiety. Every living human being will eventually die, that is a universal truth but quite a
bitter pill to swallow. What happens after death? Why is it my time to die? When will I die? How will I die? Etc. These are the types of questions...

Past and future do not bum as brightly as the present–the here–and–now will tell you immediately who you are today. A result of the intense
here–and–now perspective is a lack of reflection, which is important for growth. It provides an opportunity to interpret experience and grow from it.
Reflection allows students to make choices. When reflection is absent, new modes of action are hard to develop. Repeated car accidents, lower death
anxiety scores found in this study, and other consistent life–threatening behaviors, may be related to this lack of reflection (Article 1, pg.15)." This
quote, more or less sums up the view of life from an adolescent perspective. It is quite hard to decipher the experience of "death" and what one can
learn from their dealings with death that will make it "easier" to deal with. There is also a link between low levels of death anxiety and high risk
behavior. The less one thinks of their own death, the more likely they are to engage in risky activity that could end in the one thing they do not think
about, death.
As stated before, death anxiety is not a discriminatory disorder; it affects both men and women. The area of who suffers more is not so crystal clear
though. It is quite murky considering there have been surveys where women have a somewhat significant higher level of death anxiety than men, as
well as surveys where it is quite equal. There is a noticeable difference in how females view

The Theories Of Anxiety And Anxiety
Anxiety is when the everyday worrying becomes exaggerated. Most people feel anxiety about paying bills, succeeding in a career of school, but it is
when the worrying becomes extreme they may be suffering for anxiety disorder. About 40 million adults struggle with anxiety, but only a third of them
are getting treated for the anxiety disorder. The cause of the disorder is not known. There are many different theories of anxiety. The different theories
of anxiety can help the people with this disorder better understand what may be the cause of their specific anxiety disorder. Some of these categories
are physiological, psychoanalytic, cognitive, uncertainty, and behavioral. Though out this paper each of those categories will be discussed along with
the people who have helped make these theories.
One of the first theories to talk about is the psychoanalytic approach the anxiety. This theory was developed from Sigmund Freud. Freud created 2
different theories of anxiety, in both of his theories he believed that anxiety had to be due to an overwhelming experience at birth. His two theories of
anxiety are labeled automatic and signal. His first form of anxiety is automatic. Automatic is a reaction to the feeling of helplessness when one has
experienced a traumatic event. In his second for of anxiety was signaled. In this theory he viewed anxiety as a signal form the mind about the danger,
and makes a person think that they better do something about this danger as quickly as

Anxiety makes one desire to relieve oneself from a position, in this case as quickly as possible. Their heart rate might increase, with a fallow of

Heastie, S., contrasting levels of stress and coping mechanisms were present in these students. It was noted that traditional college students experience
more psychological stress than their nontraditional student counterparts. In addition, during the first year of college, the amount of stress experienced

Everyone in their life time experiences some sort of anxiety. It is that feeling that you get when you are about to take a test or doing a
presentation in front of students. But some people, like me, have something worse than just the anxious feeling you get, something called anxiety
disorder. It becomes a disorder when that anxious feeling happens frequently and makes you feel uneasy and different Figuring out that I had
anxiety took a while, I always felt like I was anxious a lot more than everyone else and beyond stressed at a young age. It just did not click in my
head that there might be something wrong. I was living my life in a low state, depressed and having multiple panic attacks through the day at any

caused me to become super depressed, to the point of cutting and thinking of my options to end this cruel disorder that was taking over my life.
After a while, I was fed up with my anxiety. Having around twenty panic attacks a day puts a lot on the human body and the way it functions. I did

Anxiety And Anxiety Of Anxiety
Anxiety is one of the most common disorders that most humans can either suffer from or have endured before. I am one to always say that having
anxiety is so discouraging and tiring, however there are many ways to deal with anxiety and ultimately beat it down to the point where it becomes
nothing. Growing up with a rough childhood, I did not have anxiety up until I hit tenth or eleventh grade. I had my very first panic attack when I
went with some of my best friends to see a horror movie; I do not know what triggered it at the time, but all I remember was feeling stuck, my heart
was racing, my stomach was turning and I needed to get out of that movie theater as fast as I could. I wound going to the bathroom for a good
thirty minutes and missed half of the movie. Years later, I pieced together what happened that night in the movie theater when I went to
psychotherapy for the first time and it all made sense. I had a panic attack because I felt trapped; the idea of an escape was never a problem up
until that night. I felt that I was trapped and since an escape was not easily accessible, I had to temporarily escape to the bathroom in order to get
myself together because the panic felt like I was having a heart attack. In present day, I am very cautious about where I go to places because I
always need an escape plan and feeling stuck is the only thing that really gets my anxiety going. I have been in therapy for almost four years and I am

Anxiety and a Family The ringing of my alarm clock goes off at 7:00 a.m. on a weekday morning. I get up to go wake my sister up like every
morning since she does not set an alarm. When I go into her room, the bed is empty and she is not there. I walk through the living room to my
parent's bedroom and hear muffled voices. My sister and mom are in the bathroom with my sister crying saying, "I don't feel good" and "I need to stay
home from school." This was how most of the mornings went during our ninth–grade year. I wake up and go to my sister's room to get her up so we
can get ready for school. Most mornings she is not in there, but either crying to my mom in person or over the phone if my mom is working. It
would always be the same reason from my sister, "I can't go to school because I don't feel good." My mom let her stay home for a few days,
believing that she really did not feel good, but after days of my sister saying, "I need to stay home one more day and then I'll go to school," my mom
started to believe that there was a bigger issue than not feeling good. My mom did not know what to do or what was causing the problem. She asked
me, "is something going on at school that is making Payton not want to go?" My answer was always the truth, that nothing was happening at school.
Payton and I are really close and usually tell each other when something is wrong, but she does not tell me anything about what she is thinking or
feeling. My mom tried to talk to her about what was causing the issue of not wanting to go to school for days in a row, but her questions would be
meant with, "nothing is going on" and "there isn't a problem." The mornings are filled with constant yelling and arguing because my mom does not
know what is going on and she could not figure out a way to help Payton. On the mornings that involved a lot of yelling and fighting, there would
be times where the crying made my sister get herself worked up to the point of throwing up. It was not just my sister crying, but it was also my mom
because she would get frustrated that Payton would not be able to tell her what was wrong, that it made her upset and all she could do was cry and
give in to Payton staying home. I would also become upset, often

Contrast Anxiety And Anxiety
Although many people tend to use the words "stress" and "anxiety" interchangeably, they are actually two separate conditions. Stress is a reaction to a
stimulus, which can be external or internal. You may experience stress when you feel frustrated with something (like waiting in line behind a slow
person) or when you are worried that you will not meet expectations (such as missing a deadline at work).
Anxiety, on the other hand, is a sense of dread, or nervousness and fear. It can be caused by negative thoughts and expectations, or as a response to
stress. You may feel anxious virtually all of the time and not know why, or your feelings may be a response to something you are nervous about, like
an upcoming exam.

Exercise is one that is often overlooked by anxious people, but it is highly effective. Exercise causes your body to release endorphins, which are
natural mood–boosting and pain–killing chemicals. With regular exercise, you may start to experience a decrease in negative emotional reactions to
situations that would have previously made you extremely anxious.
The best way to cope with tension and worry is to control it from the inside out. Stress relief and stress management techniques are very valuable tools
in handling day–to–day stress. These techniques can teach you to relax yourself and relieve your tension. You make a conscious effort to slow your
breathing rate, release the tension, and remain in a calm state of mind. Meditation is a form of tension control in which you focus on thoughtful
relaxation and deep, calming breathing.
However, if you seek a proactive solution to relieve yourself of anxiety, hypnosis is by far the most effective form of treatment. When a person
undergoes hypnosis, their reactions and emotional responses to events are changed at their core. This provides them with the opportunity to cope with
anxiety–inducing triggers without the usual fear and

Rory McIlroy was born in Northern Ireland in 1989 and has been a professional golfer since 2007 (Biography.com Editors). In 2011 aged 22 McIlroy

Cashmoore (2002) has described anxiety as 'an unpleasant emotion, which is characterised by vague but persistent feelings of apprehension and dread'
(Cashmoore, 2002). There are many different types of anxiety including state, trait, somatic and cognitive (Moran, 2004, pp. 72–75). State anxiety has
been defined as 'subjective, consciously perceived feelings of tension and apprehension' (Spielberger, 1966, p. 17), whereas trait anxiety is an acquired
behavioral tendency (Spielberger, 1966). Somatic anxiety relates to the physiological manifestations of anxiety, in sport symptoms include: increased
heart rate, rapid shallow breathing and increased perspiration (Davis, Hutchings, & Morris, 1981, p. 541). 'Cognitive anxiety however is characterised
by negative thoughts and worries' (Moran, 2004, p. 73).
Stress is 'a substantial imbalance between physiological and, or psychological demand and response capability under conditions where failure to meet
that demand has important consequences' (McGrath, 1970, p. 20). In relation to McIlroy his demand could have been remaining calm in order to

Living in Fear Imagine suddenly being in a dark room with no doors, vents, or openings. Oxygen slowly dwindling away as it gets harder to breathe

but to the person affected there is a constantly struggle and worry that we might suddenly transport in to this oxygen–less room. Anxiety differs from
person to person, but for me it was a spontaneous and seemingly random attack. I knew nothing was physically wrong, but that didn't stop my throat

cannabinoids (cannabis) do. This in turn activates the gratification hormone, dopamine, in your brain."(Manjula) Since the identical brain "reward

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though anxiety was only first recognized in 1980 by the American Psychiatric Association, it has been documented since the Ancient Greece Era. In the era of Ancient Greece, anxiety was called "hysteria" which derived from the Greek word uterus. It was named "hysteria" because Greeks believe that's this disorder was actually caused from the uterus. and was thought to only occur in women. Women who had "hysteria" were said to have gotten it due to lack of sexual intercourse and because of that there "female semen" turned to position and made the women behave strangely. Sexually intercourse was then considered a cure for "hysteria". The next documented cases of anxiety were in the early Renaissance Era, during these times women who showed that they were highly anxious and prone to "hysteria" were frequently accused of being witches. When women of this time were vocal about their anxiety suffer greatly, they were "treated" via torture (in Spain), execution (in Britain), and burned at the stake (in Scotland). Also in this time if presented that you thought your neighbor could possibly be a witch and showed that you were stressed about it, you would set off the "hysterical" anxiety reaction and be accused of being a witch yourself and could end up incriminated yourself. In the Victorian Era, women with "hysterical" were sent off to local insane asylum and were given treatments which included electroshock therapy and in severe cases lobotomization. ... The secret lies in being able to gain control over your thoughts. Mindfulness has been shown to lower anxiety and stress as well as the fatigue that it causes. Over time, it has also been shown to improve memory (which is often negatively affected by anxiety) and improve reaction times. Is mindfulness the same as meditation? Well, it is similar in some ways. Meditation also teaches you to focus your mind on the present by centering your thoughts on your breathing. However, they do differ because whereas meditation generally requires a quiet atmosphere, mindfulness can be practiced at any time and during any task. The aim of mindfulness is to focus on the senses to help the sufferer experience the moment, free from worry. That is what makes it such a powerful tool in combating anxiety because we all know that anxiety doesn't wait for a quiet moment to strike us. Damaging and out of control thoughts can rob us of the ability to enjoy our present. Once you have practiced mindfulness you begin to find yourself automatically pushing aside these crushing thoughts and paying attention to your senses and the world around you. A phrase that encompasses some of the most common and "popular" medical disorders in modern society, including but not limited to, social anxiety disorders, panic attacks, generalized anxiety disorder, and a number of phobias. In order to express this difference and gain a clear picture and appreciation for how the topic of anxiety has grown over time, we have to go back and look at the origins or early stages of the subject. What we as a society consider anxiety to be or how exactly we define anxiety has changed tremendously from what it once was. In an article written by Fay Bound, a woman responsible for a multitude of medical publications, stated, "Only in the 17th century did anxiety become a descriptive category for feelings or fearfulness accompanied by the precordial tightness or discomfort" (LANCET). From this quote, it is clear that our knowledge of anxiety is still very young, especially compared to our knowledge of other medical and psychological disorders. Bound continued to present the early ideals behind anxiety, ". . .the term did not define the emotionally distressed individual that it does today. Nor was it as rooted in the mind" Anxiety, with regards to this period that time, was classified more as a physical discomfort and hysteria, rather than the physical and psychological discomfort that we classify it as today. Bound bridges the gap between what anxiety was considered during the 17th century to what it considered now in the 21st century by explaining how anxiety was reformed to be categorized as a mental state, "Psychiatrists produced specific models of ... I will tell you. I will explain it to you. The feeling, that is the thing. You do not understand the feeling. It is not just nervousness or worry. It is not as simple as that. Anxiety. Think there is nothing toworry about and everything is fine in my life? Nope, anxiety there too. Whether it is worrying about a big event or a person, or it is just checking every five minutes to make sure I have absolutely everything I need in my bag, and then always finding something new to pack because there is so many 'what if' situations that it is almost hard to think of anything else, every situation has bad thing when you have anxiety eating away at you constantly. Anxiety is unexpected. Though constant, it is not constantly at its peak. Taking me by surprise is something anxiety excels at. It is always walking behind me. As an individual dealing with anxiety, a person may explore their past situations to get to the bottom on their anxiety. Do they ever stop to think of what the root cause of anxiety may be? The motivation of anxiety can fluctuate depending on what the root cause is. Biblically speaking, the Bible has a great deal to say about anxiety and how to deal with anxiety as it arises. It is important to explore what motivates anxiety and what the Bible has to say about anxiety. Anxiety can usually be found paired with another psychological disorder, such as depression or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). The feelings of anxiety generally stem from having a lack of activity in the nucleus accumbens, which is found in hippocampus. The nucleus accumbens "plays a critical role in the experience of pleasure from naturally occurring reinforcers" (Reeve, 58). Although the nucleus accumbens is where your pleasure and reinforcers are found, "your brains natural anti–anxiety chemicals are endorphins" (Reeve, 59). When there is a lack of endorphins, an individual will start to feel "...jittery and tense" as well as "...suffering and are in pain, and seeing themselves go to pieces" (Reeve, 193). • 13. Anxiety And Anxiety Essay Did you know that the brain, your genetics, and your personality are all factors of anxiety? While some people experience anxiety once or twice, others experience it daily and the feeling is so intense, that some actually need to take medication to make it go away. Anxiety is the feeling of tension or worry typically felt before a certain event that has an unknown result. So what's the difference between anxiety itself and an anxiety disorder? Well the answer is quite simple. Anxiety is a common mental disorder that affects people of many ages and is a serious problem that we do not recognize today. Anxiety is a mental disorder in which a person experiences extreme worry or fear. This feeling of fear causes the majority of people to have trembling in their hands or to exaggerate the event that is coming their way. Most people also experience racing thoughts or thoughts that are unwanted. "For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time." (Anxiety Disorders, National Institute of Mental Health). As you can tell, fear and worry is the source to all of these signs and symptoms. When you experience anxiety, you are not able to control your thoughts and the feeling would probably intensify. In worse cases, it is possible for the person to experience a panic attack. It was noted that traditional college students experience more psychological stress than their nontraditional student counterparts. In addition, during the first year of college, the amount of stress experienced by students is the highest in comparison to stress in the remainder of the years. These results are especially important because it stresses the need for a strong health and wellness center within colleges and universities. In contrast to researching adjustment to college life for traditional and nontraditional students, the article by Shankland, R., Genolini, C., Riou FranГ§a, L., Guelfi, J., & Ionescu, S., compared students from a traditional school system to that of an alternative school. In this article, it was noted that alternative schools differ from traditional schools in their teaching methods and philosophy. For this study, 130 students from both types of schools in similar regions were assessed during their final year in high school, the beginning of college, and finally at the end of their first year in college using the State– Trait Anxiety Inventory, ... • 34. Anxiety Disorders And Anxiety Disorder Everyone in their life time experiences some sort of anxiety. It is that feeling that you get when you are about to take a test or doing a presentation in front of students. But some people, like me, have something worse than just the anxious feeling you get, something called anxiety disorder. It becomes a disorder when that anxious feeling happens frequently and makes you feel uneasy and different Figuring out that I had anxiety took a while, I always felt like I was anxious a lot more than everyone else and beyond stressed at a young age. It just did not click in my head that there might be something wrong. I was living my life in a low state, depressed and having multiple panic attacks through the day at any giving time and there was no obvious thing that trigger them. I was miserable to the point I did not want to get out of bed, I was too afraid. This caused me to become super depressed, to the point of cutting and thinking of my options to end this cruel disorder that was taking over my life. After a while, I was fed up with my anxiety. Having around twenty panic attacks a day puts a lot on the human body and the way it functions. I did not feeling human anymore. I talked Anxiety and Depression in my Life to someone, finally. The first person was my older brother, he did not exactly help at all. He told me I was crazy and that it was all in my head, which just made the situation worse than it was before. I was not giving up there! I talked to my Dad, which at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
 • 35. Anxiety And Anxiety Of Anxiety Anxiety is one of the most common disorders that most humans can either suffer from or have endured before. I am one to always say that having anxiety is so discouraging and tiring, however there are many ways to deal with anxiety and ultimately beat it down to the point where it becomes nothing. Growing up with a rough childhood, I did not have anxiety up until I hit tenth or eleventh grade. I had my very first panic attack when I went with some of my best friends to see a horror movie; I do not know what triggered it at the time, but all I remember was feeling stuck, my heart was racing, my stomach was turning and I needed to get out of that movie theater as fast as I could. I wound going to the bathroom for a good thirty minutes and missed half of the movie. Years later, I pieced together what happened that night in the movie theater when I went to psychotherapy for the first time and it all made sense. I had a panic attack because I felt trapped; the idea of an escape was never a problem up until that night. I felt that I was trapped and since an escape was not easily accessible, I had to temporarily escape to the bathroom in order to get myself together because the panic felt like I was having a heart attack. In present day, I am very cautious about where I go to places because I always need an escape plan and feeling stuck is the only thing that really gets my anxiety going. I have been in therapy for almost four years and I am able to do so much and manage my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
 • 36. Essay On Anxiety Anxiety and a Family The ringing of my alarm clock goes off at 7:00 a.m. on a weekday morning. I get up to go wake my sister up like every morning since she does not set an alarm. When I go into her room, the bed is empty and she is not there. I walk through the living room to my parent's bedroom and hear muffled voices. My sister and mom are in the bathroom with my sister crying saying, "I don't feel good" and "I need to stay home from school." This was how most of the mornings went during our ninth–grade year. I wake up and go to my sister's room to get her up so we can get ready for school. Most mornings she is not in there, but either crying to my mom in person or over the phone if my mom is working. It would always be the same reason from my sister, "I can't go to school because I don't feel good." My mom let her stay home for a few days, believing that she really did not feel good, but after days of my sister saying, "I need to stay home one more day and then I'll go to school," my mom started to believe that there was a bigger issue than not feeling good. My mom did not know what to do or what was causing the problem. She asked me, "is something going on at school that is making Payton not want to go?" My answer was always the truth, that nothing was happening at school. Payton and I are really close and usually tell each other when something is wrong, but she does not tell me anything about what she is thinking or feeling. My mom tried to talk to her about what was causing the issue of not wanting to go to school for days in a row, but her questions would be meant with, "nothing is going on" and "there isn't a problem." The mornings are filled with constant yelling and arguing because my mom does not know what is going on and she could not figure out a way to help Payton. On the mornings that involved a lot of yelling and fighting, there would be times where the crying made my sister get herself worked up to the point of throwing up. It was not just my sister crying, but it was also my mom because she would get frustrated that Payton would not be able to tell her what was wrong, that it made her upset and all she could do was cry and give in to Payton staying home. I would also become upset, often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
 • 37. Contrast Anxiety And Anxiety Although many people tend to use the words "stress" and "anxiety" interchangeably, they are actually two separate conditions. Stress is a reaction to a stimulus, which can be external or internal. You may experience stress when you feel frustrated with something (like waiting in line behind a slow person) or when you are worried that you will not meet expectations (such as missing a deadline at work). Anxiety, on the other hand, is a sense of dread, or nervousness and fear. It can be caused by negative thoughts and expectations, or as a response to stress. You may feel anxious virtually all of the time and not know why, or your feelings may be a response to something you are nervous about, like an upcoming exam. Abnormal levels of certain ... Exercise causes your body to release endorphins, which are natural mood–boosting and pain–killing chemicals. With regular exercise, you may start to experience a decrease in negative emotional reactions to situations that would have previously made you extremely anxious. The best way to cope with tension and worry is to control it from the inside out. Stress relief and stress management techniques are very valuable tools in handling day–to–day stress. These techniques can teach you to relax yourself and relieve your tension. You make a conscious effort to slow your breathing rate, release the tension, and remain in a calm state of mind. Meditation is a form of tension control in which you focus on thoughtful relaxation and deep, calming breathing. However, if you seek a proactive solution to relieve yourself of anxiety, hypnosis is by far the most effective form of treatment. When a person undergoes hypnosis, their reactions and emotional responses to events are changed at their core. This provides them with the opportunity to cope with anxiety–inducing triggers without the usual fear and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
 • 38. Different Types Of Anxiety And Anxiety Rory McIlroy was born in Northern Ireland in 1989 and has been a professional golfer since 2007 (Biography.com Editors). In 2011 aged 22 McIlroy was leading the first round of the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia with a2 stroke lead as he approached the 10th hole. McIlroy then choked and this had detrimental effects on his game causing him to finish in 15th place overall (BBC, 2011). Cashmoore (2002) has described anxiety as 'an unpleasant emotion, which is characterised by vague but persistent feelings of apprehension and dread' (Cashmoore, 2002). There are many different types of anxiety including state, trait, somatic and cognitive (Moran, 2004, pp. 72–75). State anxiety has been defined as 'subjective, consciously perceived feelings of tension and apprehension' (Spielberger, 1966, p. 17), whereas trait anxiety is an acquired behavioral tendency (Spielberger, 1966). Somatic anxiety relates to the physiological manifestations of anxiety, in sport symptoms include: increased heart rate, rapid shallow breathing and increased perspiration (Davis, Hutchings, & Morris, 1981, p. 541). 'Cognitive anxiety however is characterised by negative thoughts and worries' (Moran, 2004, p. 73). Stress is 'a substantial imbalance between physiological and, or psychological demand and response capability under conditions where failure to meet that demand has important consequences' (McGrath, 1970, p. 20). In relation to McIlroy his demand could have been remaining calm in order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
 • 39. Living In Anxiety Living in Fear Imagine suddenly being in a dark room with no doors, vents, or openings. Oxygen slowly dwindling away as it gets harder to breathe and you begin to get light–headed. It's only in your mind, though. Similar to that of someone who suffers from anxiety. Anxiety is invisible to others, but to the person affected there is a constantly struggle and worry that we might suddenly transport in to this oxygen–less room. Anxiety differs from person to person, but for me it was a spontaneous and seemingly random attack. I knew nothing was physically wrong, but that didn't stop my throat from feeling like it was constricting, which in turn caused me to panic more and sometimes hyperventilate. I suffered from this "imaginary" health issue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being a rebellious teen, I preferred to opt out of taking the medication although my parents considered it to be what was best. The sporadic intake of the medication ironically created more anxiety. The National Institute of Mental Health states in a different journal on anxiety, "They [meds] exert a calming effect by boosting the action of a neurotransmitter called gamma–aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the same way as opioids (heroin) and cannabinoids (cannabis) do. This in turn activates the gratification hormone, dopamine, in your brain."(Manjula) Since the identical brain "reward pathways" are used by both types of drugs, they can be equally addictive and also may cause side effects like memory loss, impaired thinking, dizziness, and even more anxiety. The drugs were essentially turning me into a person that wasn't me; another reason for my hesitance in taking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
