What he believed
• He stated that if you are in the media industry it
is important to conduct regular research on your
desired audience in order to tailor you media
product to their eexpectations.
• This can be done in a range of ways such as
audience interviews and feedback- or simple
surveys.
John Hartley
Audience Relations
What he believed
• Hartley accepted that it is very important to talk
to audiences, but, it is also very worthwhile to
work as one with the audience in order to enter a
relation with them as well as to represent their
views.
Julian McDougall
Audience and the online age
What he believed
• McDougall believes that the online age offers a
range of internet tools to people, this makes it
difficult to identify a particular audience, or to
categorise people into one certain audience.
• However, he does believe that audiences can
make sense of media products and are able to
give them meanings.
