ABSTRACTION 1
DAP interrelated Aspects
Age Appropriateness refers to the fact that
there are recognizable or predictable
sequences of growth and change in human
development from infancy up to adulthood.
Individual Appropriateness is based on the
recognition of the child as a unique person
with an individual pattern and pace of
growth.
Cultural Appropriateness is based on the
recognition that children live within a social
and cultural context and that their needs
need to be addressed in relation to this.
ABSTRACTION 2
Developmentally appropriate programs are
guided by basic principles about how
children learn. The way teachersteach must
be compatible with the way childrenlearn.
ABSTRACTION 3
Create a caring community of learners.
Teach to enhance development and learning.
Plan appropriate curriculum.
Assess children’s development and learning.
Developreciprocal relationships with
families.
ABSTRACTION

2. Why they are
appropriate?
(Gather some answers
from participants)

Let’s see how our material
defined DAP, what are the
identified developmentally
appropriate practices and
the aspects of
appropriateness.

1. Age Appropriateness
2. Individual
Appropriateness
3. Cultural
Appropriateness
