Evaluation Question 6
1. Question 6
What have you learnt about the
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. Technologies
• I used many different types of technologies
during the planning and filming stage for our
thriller.
• We have learned how to use many types such as:
• The hardware, cameras, microphones and tripods
in the correct manner.
• With programs such as Final Cut Express and
Livetype.
• Aswell as learning how to use certain internet
sites such as Blogger, DaFont, Prezi ect.
3. Hardware - Camera
• We learned how to use many types of
hardware to a very good standard.
• Our first camera exercise we ever did in order
to test our skills was rather good for a first
attempt, but there were a few continuous
errors within the film.

4. Sound - Microphone
• We also did a sound exercise which we filmed a
short clip to test out using microphone’s and non-
diegetic music, along with sound effects for extra
emphasis’s.
• We learnt how to use the clip on microphone,
along with using the built in one.
• But doing this we learnt that clipping the
microphone under a tie is rather a bad idea as it
muffles the sound as it scratches the fabric.

5. Preliminary Task
• Lastly we did our preliminary task to assess
everything we had learned. We assessed how our
filming has improved as we started to learn much
more about the camera angles, movements and
compositions. As well as sound techniques with
sound effects, non-diegetic sound tracks, parallel
/contrapuntal, and sound bridges. We also
considered mise-en-scene and the lightening
within the set, as this all contributes to the
continuity of the overall film.

6. Software
• We used Final Cut Express
to edit our whole film.
This program allowed us
to add various effects to
the film to add extra
emphasis, such as slow-
motion and a blurred
filtered. But we mainly
just used the razor blade
tool to cut the film clips in
various ways, either to
shorten them or delete
them completely.
• We did gradually improve
with editing the whole
short clip within time with
the extra practice.
7. Programs
• We also learned how to use programs such as
LiveType. This program allowed us to make a
very good ident, title and production company
logo. We mainly used this for our final thriller
film with the film name at the very end of
short thriller opening.
• This program was rather annoying to use as
we had great difficulty finding the perfect
front within the limited amount for use.
8. Sites on the Internet
• Whilst planning and producing our final thriller
opening scene we did use a variety of internet sites.
Such as Blogger, the main one used for the planning
and documenting our research we found out.
• We also used YouTube a great deal to upload our
practice clips of filming and the ident/title name.
YouTube was used as it was a very easy way to embed
our lately project to our blog for easy viewing.
• Along with using YouTube to find out how to use
programs such a LiveType which was needed for our
companies ident.
9. Other sites we used.
We used plenty of sites to help us understand the film industry to make
our research appear much more interesting to the viewer.
Survey Monkey was used to make a survey to find out more about our
target audience, and what we need to do to fulfill their needs.
We also used a website called DaFont.com to find all of our font types
which we used within our title sequence. This website was very useful
as there we tons of fonts to chose from, which widened our search for
the perfect font type needed for our film.
