2. Introduction
• Analyse specific trends or record data
• Physical properties can be measured with the sensors
• The sensors send signals to the interface box, which is linked
to a computer
• The interface box converts analogue signal to digital signals
• Reading will be more accurate
3. What is this?
What is combustion?
What are the
applications of
combustion in human
life?
What process involves to
produce this?
How combustion occurs?
What is the chemical
reaction of reaction?
This is FLAME or we called it as FIRE.
COMBUSTION produces flame or fire.
4. Apparatus:
Candle, bell jar, matches, interface, computer
and temperature, light and humidity sensors.
Procedure:
1. The apparatus was set up and sensors were
arranged inside the bell jar.
2. The sensors were connected to the interface.
3. The candle was lighted up and covered with the bell
jar.
4. The experiment was recorded for 3 minutes.
5. When the candle extinguished, the air was
readmitted into the bell jar.
6. IMPORTANCE OF COMBUSTION
• Industrial process
o Cement industry is the heavy user of heat energy delivered by combustion
o Iron, steel, aluminium and other metal refining industries employ
furnaces for producing raw products
o Other examples of industrial devices are boiler, refinery, glass melters and
also solid dryers.
• Transportation system
o Air craft – powered by fuel burning
o Trains – diesel engines
o Domestic vehicles – use gasoline
• Our lives would be completely different if combustion reactions
did not exist!
7. • Ethanol which mixed with gasoline
used in internal combustion engine
• Alcohol will produce low energy
• Reaction pure hydrogen gas and
oxygen
Alcoholic Substance in Combustion
8. Rocket Propulsion
Products of combustion
(solid, liquid, gas) in rocket
ejected from combustion
chamber at high velocity
Mixtures of low molecular
weight and high heat of
combustion therefore used
for rockets.
9. Explosives
Combustion and detonation are
widely used in all sorts of work with
mechanical action or explosion
Combustion of condensed explosives
occurs mostly in gas phase, which
provide burning velocity, depends
on temperature, pressure and
parameters
Will results of experimental
investigations on combustion and
detonation.
10. Combustion Turbine
• The combustion turbine have three
main phases.
• Combustion phase :
• A ring of fuel injectors inject a
steady stream of fuel mixed with
air into combustion chamber .
• Mixture is burned at >2000 F
• High temperature, high pressure
• Causes the aerofoil to rotate.
11. Conclusion
• One of the method used to handle experiment easily
• Organize our result or data well by the usage of ICT
• By using the sensor, the data was inter-related
• Easy to present result and clearly know the fact within the sensor
