2. SUMMARY
Authorizes the City Manager to execute a new
interlocal agreement between the cities of Alamo
Heights, Olmos Park, and Terrell Hills to provide
emergency medical services (EMS)
3. BACKGROUND
The EMS agreement between Alamo Heights,
Olmos Park, and Terrell Hills began in 1982
Renewed on an annual basis until 2008
Current contract expires on September 30th, 2020
If adopted, the new agreement would run through
September 30th, 2023
4. BACKGROUND
Each city strives to provide quality emergency medical care
With this agreement, response times are well below the national
average of 10 minutes
Cost sharing assures that quality patient care is achieved at a low
cost to its’ citizens
Citizens are assured quick access to emergency medical care and
transport to area hospital
5. POLICY ANALYSIS
Olmos Park and Terrell Hills have no opposition to the
proposed contract
Renewal of a 3 year term to align with the Medical
Director Professional Service Agreement contract
expiration
6. FISCAL IMPACT
Negotiations for a new three year contract have concluded with
all parties in agreement.
The cost share arrangement changes for the next 3 year term
are as follows, based on the total number of EMS calls per city
in the prior three year period January 01, 2017 – December
31, 2019
