Ident Ideas.
Joe Bowman, Adam
Richards, Tristan Hale and
Robyn Collier.
Brief summary of the ident ideas.
The main ident theme we have chosen revolves
around elevators. We have chosen to do this as
the gradual rising in the elevator and different
angles within and around the elevator are
good ways to create suspense to the
audience. We were looking to do as it is for the
thriller genre film.
We have also chosen for all three ideas that
they should all be in a dark settings to match
the dark theme within a thriller film.
Again, for all three ident ideas, we have chosen
to use the same name of ‘Elevation Studios’.
This is because the sense of tension building can
be linked to the word ‘elevation’ and therefore
connotes the conventions of a thriller we’re
aiming to show.
Ident idea one:
The first idea we came up with, was to
have the ident within the shaft of an
elevator as it approaches quickly and
passes still at high speed. The setting
would have been dark and the
soundtrack played over would have
been fast paced to make the audience
feel tension as the lift comes closer.
The ident would then have continued on
to gradually quiet down until the sound
of the mechanics within the lift dropping
back down would have been heard and
seen descending quickly. This would
create a break in suspense and make
the audience want to know more, as to
why the lift is suddenly dropping back
down again. Following the lift back down
a black screen would appear with the
ident name ‘Elevation studios’
Ident idea two:
The second idea our group came up
with included a close up of elevator
buttons. As each level was reached
continuously the button for that level lit
up and therefore created a ‘ding’
sound. This would create added
suspense and tension for the audience
as they don’t know what the elevator
is traveling up towards.
We have also chosen not to include
and overplaying soundtrack as we
believe the silence would also create
added suspense. Which we believe
will be good to include as it highlights
the thriller genre that the ident is
representing. Following the close up
the screen would then darken and
show the ident title name of ‘Elevation
Studios’.
Ident idea three:
The third idea that we produced was to
shoot from within a dark lift with the
doors slightly open therefore as it
reached each level the light would
shine through the gap in the door.
Creating the conventional technique
of suspense which directly links into the
thriller genre.
We have chosen to include the
mechanical sound of the elevator
within the ident as it again creates the
conventional technique of suspense to
the audience. Having the lift not open
straight away and only shows darkness
and a small amount of light creates
suspense. The break in suspense occurs
as the doors open and the ident name
‘Elevation Studios’ appears.
